Everything You Need To Know About Grooming Your Beard

0
0
Beards are arguably one of the most interesting things about a man's face. From stubble to full-grown, there's more to facial hair than we think. With that in mind, HuffPost Style spoke to pogonologist -- aka beard scholar -- Dr. Allan Peterkin to get his take on the art of grooming.

Dr. Peterkin is the author of books such as The Bearded Gentleman and One Thousand Beards, which focus on beard styling techniques then and now. With his cultural narratives, Dr. Peterkin educates his readers on the evolution of facial hair and its effect on social and psychological disposition.

So, when we talked to the all-things-beards expert, we knew that he would have some amazing, if not life-changing, tips. By highlighting some of the biggest mistakes guys can make, Dr. Peterkin doesn't disappoint in giving us everything we've ever needed to know about caring for a beard.

Herewith are Dr. Peterkin's tips and tricks below; gentlemen, try to take his advice, OK?

What are the current beard trends?

The most popular look is stubble -- that’s if you look in the magazines GQ, Esquire -- the guy has stubble and sometimes stubble with layering, with thicker sideburns, or with a mustache.

You’re seeing the mountain man beard but that’s kind of like fringe college kid, or has a hipster element. There's seasonal mustache growing for charity -- I don’t think the mustache has really hit as permanent expression.

Are there certain styles that complement different faces?

Men use facial hair to play up strengths or hide weaknesses. If you have a weak chin, you can square it off by having a beard; if you have a really big nose, a full mustache will counter that. You see guys who are bald and grow a nice beard, it really looks good to have bald head and stubble, for example. I think men are getting really strategic about their use of facial hair from the aesthetic and cosmetic sides.

What are the biggest mistakes a guy can make with his beard?

You’ll see guys cut their beard right under their chin, and it looks really severe and artificial. So they should really aim somewhere between the Adam's apple and under the chin, that’s kind of a natural place.

I always tell people before they grow a big beard or if you’ve had a beard, before you shave it off, you should consult your partner and possibly your barber. I think guys do foolish things that don’t look great -- some other people should get a vote, I think particularly your spouse or your partner.

Give us some grooming tips!

Bearded or not, you still have skin. Some guys think "I don’t need to use products with SPF if I have a beard," but you can still get sun damage.

You need to wash your face; you can use the same product for washing your face and washing your beard. You still need to shave your margins if you have a beard, so you can use gel to keep it tidy.

How many products do men really need?

Guys want to keep it simple, so I don’t want 15 products. There are all these lines for beards now, beard oil and beard conditioner. One line of products will often cover you whether you’re clean shaven or bearded.

What do you think about beard art?

That’s the whole thing about facial hair nowadays: guys are having fun. It’s sort of a little bit of playful rebellion. Our fathers and grandfathers probably couldn’t have gotten away with it. It’s confident -- “I can do this” -- and it’s fun. So I welcome that -- I think that’s a great trend.

How HuffPost Style Editors Are Wearing White After Labor Day

The whole "no wearing white after Labor Day" rule is pretty much a thing of the past. These days, winter whites rule the runway and you'd be pressed to find someone who really abides by the dated notion. Still, the question of how exactly to wear it without looking like you just stepped off the beach can be tricky.

We could sit here and tell you all the ways you could pull white off post Labor Day, but what fun would that be? (Hint: no fun at all.) Instead, the editors at HuffPost Style would rather show you just how we're planning on keeping our white threads alive all fall long.

So without further ado, check out five ways our editors will continue to wear white for months to come.

Jamie Feldman, Associate Style Editor
"I love the idea of a head-to-toe white ensemble. The denim button-down and wool hat add cooler-weather elements that make sense for fall. Plus I'm obsessed with this elephant necklace no matter the season."

A little bit spicier that traditional black, this tailored, oversized piece can be a total game changer. Pair it with a simple T-shirt and ripped jeans and it will make everything -- even unbrushed hair -- look OK."

German shorthaired pointer dogs Travis, 11, and Gus, 4, aka "The Pointer Brothers," werk the camera and have generated quite a buzz for it. Their owner, Stephanie McCombie of Vancouver, Canada, created an Instagram account showcasing the pair's fierce and funny looks. The account now boasts more than 100,000 loyal followers, who enjoy giggling at pictures of the pups modeling anything from ski masks to bow ties.

While the dogs are probably unaware they are social media sensations, McCombie says that they genuinely love modeling together.

"They actually get excited when I bring the camera out," she told The Huffington Post in an email, (though she speculated that this is because there's the sweet, sweet promise of treats afterwards). "I know a lot of dogs [who] would hate wearing hats or being dressed up, but my guys seem to really enjoy it, they always want to be involved and included in whatever we are doing."

McCombie got both the pups from animal shelters: Travis was rescued after having survived a bear attack, and Gus was adopted a day before he was scheduled to be euthanized.

Lauren Conrad's Bridal Shower Is Picture Perfect

Leave it to Lauren Conrad to have the prettiest bridal shower imaginable.

On Sunday, August 31, the fashion designer and lifestyle blogger celebrated her upcoming wedding to William Tell with a bridal shower fit for Instagram. The party took place at Conrad's home, according to E! News, and each guest was asked to bring a personal recipe on a card.

Conrad was "thrilled for the sweet bridal shower," a source told Us Weekly. "Everything was brought in, they used tips that are on her blog and a few events companies did small loans, but really her friends are so thrifty. It was classy and elegant."

The fete included lots of flowers, from fresh bouquets and rose-printed china to huge paper blooms on the wall.

"Thank you to my amazing friends and family for the best shower ever! #tellmeyouloveme," the 28-year-old wrote on Instagram.

Kelly Cutrone Mouthes Off On All The Things You Want Her To Mouth Off On

0

Kelly Cutrone isn't one to mince words, and she certainly didn't hold back during her Reddit AMA on Tuesday. Even though she recently swung by HuffPost to tell us that she wouldn't take back her Kanye diss and that it is possible to make money in fashion, Cutrone had a LOT left to say.

It's impossible to pick out the one best thing Cutrone said, so here are the 11 best things we learned:

1. She's still friends with Whit.
Turns out Cutrone not only stays in touch with Whitney Port, but is also good friends with her family.

kelly cutrone

2. Cutrone is not friends with Bravo.
After making big waves on MTV, Cutrone felt that she had no control over her Bravo show. Instead, she's returning to TV on the CW with The Kelly Cutrone Project on September 6.

3. Lauren Conrad didn't totally work for her.
Everyone pretty much assumed that MTV made Cutrone hire Lauren Conrad, but we found out that Lauren didn't even work for her full time! Apparently, Conrad was a "sweet and diligent and funny" employee though. Oh, Laur.

4. Being on "The Hills" was the easiest job she's ever had.
Cutrone doesn't regret being on "The Hills" one bit. As she wrote, "I liked being on 'The Hills'. It's one of the easiest jobs I have ever had in my life. I wish every day could be 'The Hills' day! How hard is it to go to work and yell at Roxy? It's not that hard!"

5. The best advice she's ever gotten is of course pretty damn good.
"When things go really really bad - life is going to have its way with you no matter who you are - and when things get really really bad, that's the time to stand up and keep going, and to push, not to fall down or run away. That is the most important thing."

6. She plays the "voice of reason" on "America's Next Top Model".
Cutrone said that she does play a role on "ANTM", and it's a combination of "industry voice" and "the voice of reason." She also gave us some more sage advice on TV shows: "...There's an old joke in the TV industry - the bitch on TV is the nice one in real life, and the nice one on TV is a bitch in real life." WOW.

kelly cutrone next top model

7. A few people are more ruthless than Cutrone and her famous tagline.
After famously saying "If you have to cry, go outside," Cutrone said that the motto comes from her own experiences of getting upset in PR and having to walk outside to have a moment. Cutrone also said that while she loves Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg, the COO of Facebook is actually "far more ruthless" than she is!

8. You shouldn't listen to your parents.
As harsh as it may seem, Cutrone has a good point. When it comes to making major life decisions -- like what to major in in college or what to pursue as a career -- no one else can make that decision for you.

9. LA is more fashionable than you think.
The "most overlooked city for fashion" is LA, which is a "compliment and a diss at the same time," Cutrone said.

10. But fashion is WAY more cutthroat than TV will tell you.
"It's worse. Trust me when I tell you." We believe you, Kelly!

11. And last but not least -- tenacity will get you everywhere.
At least in PR. Tenacity is "the best quality in a publicist."

Mary-Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy only had eyes for each other at the U.S. Open.

On Monday, Sept. 1, Olsen and Sarkozy engaged in some PDA in the stands during day eight of the U.S. Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, New York. The couple was photographed laughing and hugging while watching Victoria Azaranka and Alexandrk Kurnic play.

Reports surfaced earlier this year that the 28-year-old designer and the 45-year-old billionaire are engaged to be married after she was spotted with an enormous gold ring on her finger.

Princess Diana's Wedding Dress Handed Down To William And Harry

Princess Diana had a big present in store for her son Prince Harry’s 30th birthday: her wedding dress.

As stipulated in the late princess' will, the iconic gown will officially be inherited by both of Diana's sons -- Prince William gets to share -- on Harry's big day, Sept. 15, TODAY reports.

Then-Lady Diana Spencer wore the stunning ivory silk and taffeta lace gown, designed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel, during her 1981 nuptials to Prince Charles. The royal couple recited their vows at St. Paul's Cathedral in London in front of hundreds of millions who tuned in to watch on TV.

The Victorian style dress, which was hand-embroidered with over 10,000 tiny mother-of-pearl sequins and pearls, boasted a 25-foot-long train -- the longest in royal history, according to the National Constitution Center.

Needless to say, the dress became an instant legend. It has recently been on a tour around the world and was regularly displayed at her family's estate, Althorp, in Northampton, while in Diana's brother's possession. Women's Day reports there's a hope the princes will put it back on display at Kensington Palace in London, where Diana lived.

Both Prince William and Prince Harry will also inherit other items from the estate of their mother, who died in a car crash in 1997, including personal photos, letters, and jewels. The score and lyrics to Elton John’s adapted version of “Candle in the Wind,” which was performed at her funeral, will also be handed down.

Styling Characters From Your Imagination

I love to read. I love to read more because I love my book club. And I love my book club more because Karin Tanabe is in it. She is an author; she actually was introduced to book club because she is an author, and came to present her first book The List during one of our meetings. She was so fun, friendly and fabulous that we asked her to join as a reader.

Last week, she played both parts in our book club. Reader and writer. She talked about her just released second book, The Price of Inheritance. Set as it is (for the most part) in Newport, Rhode Island, our evening involved champagne and crabs (as she said, "the right kind of crabs").

What fascinates me most about both of her books is the fashion and style that comes through, mostly because she is so good at describing her characters' wardrobes. So I had to ask her how about how she creates her characters' distinctive styles.

AP: Tell me about Jane Dalby- she is the first character in your book that resonated with me from a style and fashion perspective. She is very, very rich, very barefoot, very classy. She wears crewneck cashmere sweaters, 3 gold bangles, an 8 carat engagement ring from her grandma and a wedding band; she wears white jeans even though it is winter, and likes to be barefoot. She has great hair, dark with blonde highlights - Jackie Kennedy hair. Just a little makeup: mascara and blush.

KT: Some pieces of clothing stand out to me. Some colors stand out to me. In the case of this book, green was the theme color for the Dalbys. Green conveys envy and money. The Dalbys wore a lot of green - green cashmere, specifically. That color represents a lot in my book - one more reason I wore that dress in my book reading.

AP: Cashmere...

KT: Yes... the book takes place in a resort town in winter. The people who live there are so rich, so old money, they are actually casually rich and very understated. Plus, I love cashmere. I wear it religiously. This theme of understated old money is also why they only have sailboats don't have yachts. Sailboat clothes are very old money. Like Audrey Hepburn in Sabrina... Mega-yachts are such a nouveau riche concept. I thought a lot about sailboat clothes: white jeans, navy blue jackets, cashmere, three gold bangles that Jane wears all the time.

2014-09-02-BridesheadRevisited.jpg

Brideshead Revisited

AP: I loved those recurring gold bangles and the sound they make. Tell me more.

KT: It's an old money thing to have a signature piece - not a new thing every season, not the latest and perceived greatest, but the same amazing thing that you always wear. Like Jane's 3 bangles.

AP: Jane is always barefoot in winter.... Isn't that cold?

KT: There is something nice about being barefoot in huge mansions; it indicates a certain level of comfort, which we wouldn't find in nouveau riche. So comfortable, not trying to impress. Of course, the assumption is that Jane has perfect toes, probably dark red since it is wintertime.

AP: OK, let's switch to Carolyn. She is the main character, one of my favorite passages in the book is when she has a monologue in her head about the various outfits in her wardrobe - beige, St. John, Coco Chanel, backless, depending on the customer she is meeting with.

KT: Carolyn (this is Carolyn in NYC) is a huge pleaser. She has grown up around all this money and wants to be at the top of her game. She dresses more for other people rather than for herself (quite the opposite to the Dalby sisters). She is trying to keep up with the Joneses, both professionally and in her private life. She will wear what she things will advance her professionally. Her makeup jewelry and shoes are very, very done. She wears quite a bit of makeup. Her accessories are Chanel flats and Louboutin heels. Things that are very outwardly expensive because it matters to her and her clients.

AP: Yes, but then she moves back to Rhode Island for a bit...

KT: Carolyn in Rhode Island is Carolyn without the will to live - which she has lost... She also puts on a couple pounds... Once her career is shot her clothes are shot too. Her everyday outfit becomes firemen's' sweaters, old jeans and riding boots.

AP: So what about your style? How would you describe how you dress?

KT: I love signature pieces. I think they are so interesting. Donna Tartt was on Vanity Fair's best dressed because she always wears men's clothing - always men's suits. I have always liked that idea. I don't yet know what my signature fashion style or item is. I like global things. I like to dress like a world traveler - think Gucci meets National Geographic...

AP: What is your favorite item in your closet?

KT: A classic YSL evening tuxedo. I bought it because I was invited to a party in a palace in Monaco during the Gran Prix and I had 2 hours notice and ran into town. I wore it with no shirt underneath - no shirt, yet lots of jewelry. That was a fun night!

AP: What about the fashion item you most want, that you do not have?

KT: I want something by Delvaux; it is a Belgian brand like Hermes but less people know of it. Specifically, I want Le Tempete in black crocodile. Like the Hermes Kelly bag but more undercover. I also want a "vavavoum" evening gown. Gucci or Marchesa, very low cut, with lots of silver sequins. I will buy this dress for myself when somebody buys film rights for either of my books!

AP: So who inspires your style?

KT: I am a big pants person, I love sporty American classic clothing like what Katherine Hepburn wears. I also love Cate Blanchet, she dresses in a way that is very elegant and age appropriate.

AP: What is your favorite fashion movie?

KT: That's easy - The Talented Mr. Ripley - the clothes are too good to not watch...

AP: Any favorite fictional characters in books whose style you look up to?

KT: Yes! Marjorie Morningstar by Herman Wouk is the ultimate story of a normal girl who wants to be an actress in NY; she reinvents herself and her wardrobe and changes her name. In the movie she is played by Natalie Wood. I also love Jordan Baker in The Great Gatsby. I think she has better clothes than Daisy. She is long and lean and more modern and very much a golfer. And of course Jay Gatsby himself - the fact that he wears a pink suit is one of the best things in literature fashion-wise.

Kaley Cuoco Clearly Isn't Taking The Nude Photo Hack Too Seriously

As Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton and Victoria Justice pursue legal action against the hackers and others found posting their stolen nude photos, Kaley Cuoco isn't taking things quite so seriously.

The "Big Bang Theory" actress is among the many stars whose alleged nude photos were posted online this past weekend, yet Cuoco turned to humor in response to the incident:

"What a fun day that was, frolicking with my hubs on the beaches of Mexico! Feels like we forgot something?" she captioned a pixelated photo meant to imply that she is topless and her husband, Ryan Sweeting, is missing his swim trunks.

Pharrell Williams Tells WSJ Magazine How He Found Purpose In His Work

0

Pharrell Williams may get all his awards for music, but the style icon also makes for one heck of a motivational speaker.

In an interview with WSJ Magazine-- the singer, songwriter, producer and designer will grace the cover of the publication's September issue -- Pharrell discussed finding a sense of meaning in his many creative projects from music to fragrance to clothing lines.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW

pharrell wsj

In fact, he attributes the genius of his international hit “Happy” to a search for meaning in his music.

"It took me a minute to find my purpose. I knew something was missing, and then I realized: OK, you're able to make music. Now you have to inject purpose. I want to make music with something extra to it—a holistic property… The distinction between sounding amazing and feeling amazing—that's the thing. People, I think, are looking for a feeling."

Pharrell may be a devoted artist focused on his craft, but that’s never stopped him from establishing a superstar reputation in the world of style and fashion.

"It embarrasses me a bit to be a figure in fashion," he says. "I think everyone is interested in what they put on, even if you dress conservatively. Whatever you're trying to mask, the mask itself says something about your personality."

The superstar's influence is obvious, especially after the Grammys hat craze he stirred up, which he says he never even saw coming.

"Give Vivienne Westwood the accolade," he protests. "I bought it in London years ago. I just liked it. I'm as surprised as anybody else that it became a thing."

With the world in the palm of his hands, Pharrell’s massively successful career reflects his very own words of advice.

“As I see it, you can live two ways. You can live life the way you always imagined it would play out, or you can try to make the thing you dream of making. If you choose the second, get ready for an amazing ride. That’s the ride I’m on.”

WSJ Magazine’s issue hits newsstands September 13th, but check out some of the photos below.

Tony Blair Gets 'Philanthropist Of The Year' Award From GQ Magazine Amid Backlash

0
0
British GQ magazine is defending its decision to name former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair "Philanthropist of the Year" at its 2014 Men of the Year awards.

The event, which took place Tuesday at London's Royal Opera House and recognized a wide range of artists and leaders in various fields, honored Blair for his work heading three charities: The Tony Blair Faith Foundation, which aims to prevent religious conflict and extremism around the world, the Tony Blair Africa Governance Initiative, a nonprofit working with African leaders to build more prosperous futures for their countries, and the Tony Blair Sports Foundation, which promotes health through athletics in northeast England.

Blair's critics have pointed to his time in office to rebuke the honor, including his support and participation in the war in Iraq, as well as his relationship with a Khazakhstan president whose government allegedly killed unarmed civilians at a 2011 protest, the BBC reported.

HuffPost UK documented some Twitter users' responses to the news that Blair would be awarded the recognition. Among them was former English soccer player and sports broadcaster Gary Lineker who tweeted: "Apparently, Tony Blair has won GQ's philanthropist of the year award. Finally these awards have grasped irony!"

The event's organizer Richard Dodgson said selecting controversial winners is part of the magazine's strategy.

"We like to have celebrities at our event who cause a bit of a stir," Dodgson told BBC Radio 5 live. "So having Tony was fantastic. We like to have people who have opinions and are forthright."

British GQ clarified its decision-making regarding Blair on Wednesday, sharing a column in defense of the prime minister on Facebook:

In the magazine's rebuttal, Charlie Burton writes:

When Blair went into Iraq he said that history would judge whether it was the right decision. The problem is, we've bought a partial, revisionist history of an entire premiership. Its great myth is that Blair didn't achieve anything in office; the truth is he fundamentally transformed the country. It's not just Northern Ireland and the minimum wage: he left a vast legacy. Civil partnerships. Bank of England independence. The Welsh Assembly. The Scottish Parliament. A mayor of London. A plunging crime rate. Even abroad, his brand of liberal interventionism in Sierra Leone and Kosovo was a success.

As far as the former prime minister was concerned, he was happy to receive the award in recognition of those helping his foundations around the world.

"I would like to dedicate this award to the people who work with my organizations," Blair said during his acceptance speech, according to the BBC. "I feel the pulse of progress beating a little harder."

She's Kim Kardashian West, And Don't You Forget It

"It's Kim Kardashian West." Emphasis on the West.

In case you didn't hear, the reality star took her husband Kanye West's surname around the beginning of August when she snapped a new passport photo and announced to the world, "#Mrs. West #NameChange."

British GQ editor Dylan Jones, apparently missed that Instagram post, and Kim needed to correct him when he presented her with the award for GQ's Woman of the Year:

"She is quite simply one of the most famous women in the world ... She's glamorous, omnipotent and beautiful. She's properly Cocoa Cola famous ... Who else could we give it to this year? Ladies and gentleman, please give a huge GQ round of applause for our Woman of the Year: Kim Kardashian."

Yes, even after a glowing introduction such as that, Kim found a way to be irritated because, "It's Kim Kardashian West," damn it.

10 Tips for Traveling Light (And Looking Like You Didn't)

0

2014-09-03-14349684699_c64c777ef2_o.jpg

At Vayable, we're huge fans of the benefits of carry-on -- no extra luggage fees, no losing luggage and greater flexibility for last-minute changes in plans. And as carry-on devotees, we've mastered the art of traveling light, without compromising on the essentials that provide us an ideal day-to-day at the destination of our choice. Below, 10 of our (hard-earned, long-lived) absolutely most essential tips to travel light like a pro.

1. Pre-pile. Fact: Last-minute packing is the leading cause of overpacking. To avoid, start getting ready a week before you leave. Devote a small corner of your room to piling up items you'll need: clothes, shoes, shampoo, conditioner. Once the time comes around to pack it up in your duffle or roller, you'll be able to edit your belongings and leave unnecessary or redundant things behind. For items you need to use that week and therefore can't pile (like your charger or favorite outfit), just put it on a post-it and drop it in the pile.

2. Go small or go home. In packing light, lugging your everyday toiletries simply isn't an option (never mind the hassle of having to check them in). Travel-sized toiletries shouldn't mean you can't look your best. Bring your favorite shampoo, conditioners and other products from home with you with these GoToob travel bottles. They're lightweight, durable and cute -- plus, the flexibility makes them easier to pack away in a ziplock bag for going through security. You can even fill a travel-sized perfume bottle atomizer spray to take your favorite perfume with you without worrying about bulk or breakage.

3. Packing cubes. When packing light, organization is key throughout your journey. Muji has great lightweight packing cubes that help you organize your clothing and increase space in your bag. We like to devote a cube to each: shirts, pants/dresses, intimates, socks so the cubes double duty to create more space and also help organize. To create even more room, lay out your shirts flat, one of top of the other, and fold them together as if folding a single shirt.

4. Rule of threes. Over the years we've come to realize you never need more variety than three of something, starting with your shoes.  Women simply need a pair of stylish flats or wedges, one pair of pumps or more formal shoes, and sneakers or running shoes so you're sure to stay active.  For men, casual kicks like boat shoes or vans, dress shoes and a pair of sneakers/running shoes will do the trip. In summer months, your casual shoes can be sandals or open-toe shoes. For electronics: let's be honest, you don't have time or need for more than three. Pick the ones you need the most: laptop, phone and tablet. There's a law of diminishing returns with all of these items.

5. Divide and conquer. With one carry-on and one "personal item" allowed, it's important to divide and conquer your belongings between a roller or duffle and a handbag.  We recommend a handbag with ample extra room for extra items you may pick up at duty (or on the road). Your handbag should always house your laptop, tablet, chargers, plane reading material, headphones, a pair of clean socks (so you can kick off your shoes without offending your neighbors) and of course, your liquids (we like to switch this over to our roller once we're past security).  Keep all toiletries not essential to your flight in your roller.

6. Baggies. Baggies are your best friend. Put all of our cables, batteries and chargers in one, all your pens or supplies in another. We recommend clear, reusable plastic bags because they're light, can hold liquid, and seal tight.  You can find these at any travel store or online, or simply use durable ziplock bags.

7. Scarves. Even if you're not much of a scarf person at home, these ubiquitous pieces of fashion will never go out of style and are the perfect travel companion. whether it's to keep you warm on the plane, as a shawl or to insulate you in the cold of winter. They can even double as a sarong, a beach blanket, or a decorative picnic blanket. It's such a versatile item, we've learned to take 'em everywhere.

8. Wear layers on the flight. It sounds trite, but it works. Planes tend to be chilly, so the extra fabric can serve dual purpose -- it'll keep you warm, while reducing the volume of your carry-on. This can be especially strategic if your destination requires something bulky, like hiking boots. Wear 'em on the plane so they don't take up precious space in your luggage. Throw on an undershirt and a sweater. If applicable, wear a few extra pieces of jewelry. Trust us, the extra space adds up quickly.

9. Pack a travel-size bottle of laundry detergent. Hotels will often offer same-day laundry service -- but at a cost that could buy you several five-star meals in a cities nicest restaurant. Save the time, money, and baggage space by packing a bottle of extra-strength liquid detergent. Wash small, non-delicates (shirts, socks, underwear) in the bathroom sink and let them dry overnight in the bathroom. It's an essential travel hack. You'll be grateful not to have to lug around the redundant weight of a half dozen pairs of socks.

10. Get matchy-matchy. Pick a color palette and stick with it. If you're only packing a minimum amount of clothing, you're sure to squeeze the most outfits out of it if everything goes with everything else. We recommend going with darker shades -- not only do they all go well with each other, but they hide stains and wrinkles more easily. (Good for when you spill that post-flight cup of coffee all over your tired self.)

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — An Arkansas woman whose mug shot shows her in heavy aqua and maroon eye shadow is accused of shoplifting $144 in makeup.

Police in Fayetteville, Arkansas, arrested 31-year-old Brandy Allen, accusing her of stuffing handfuls of eye shadow into her purse Monday. Officers said that, after being confronted, Allen went on a profanity-laced tirade and tried to damage makeup as she pulled it out of her purse so the items would appear used.

The Washington County jail said Wednesday that Allen was released on $830 bond on charges of shoplifting and disorderly conduct. Jailers did not have a record of whether Allen had a lawyer. A telephone number could not be found for the woman in Fayetteville.

Kim Kardashian Poses Nude For British GQ In Super Sexy Un-Hacked Photo Shoot

With stolen nude celebrity photos dominating news coverage this week, here is a set of snapshots you can legitimately stare at all night long, because they were meant for the world to see.

Kim Kardashian was named British GQ's Woman of the Year, and to celebrate she posed completely nude for the magazine in a stunningly sexy spread shot by photographer Tom Munro.

Of course, it's not the first time the 33-year-old has taken it all off. In addition to basically reenacting how she conceived her daughter with husband Kanye West in his "Bound 2" video, the couple also heated up the cover of French magazine L’Officiel Hommes, where things got even hotter inside the mag's pages with a photo of West grabbing Kardashian's breast. The reality star also previously appeared completely nude in W magazine, and was featured in Playboy.

This GQ shoot, however, is Kardashian's first major nude shoot since giving birth in June 2013 -- and we all know how eager she was to get her sexy on again. During an episode of "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" that aired this past October, Kardashian revealed she was itching to strip down for the cameras once she became a new mom.

"As soon as I pop this thing out -- as soon as I get in shape -- the first thing I want to do is Playboy or some nude shoot. I just wanna walk down the street fully naked," Kim told her sisters. "I’m gonna be the sexy hot mom.”
