$

0
Of all the fashion weeks around the world, it's pretty safe to say that Paris Fashion Week is the crème de la crème.

Not only do all the major designers -- like Karl Lagerfeld, Olivier Rousteing and Alber Elbaz -- show in the City of Light but the street style is to die for. People pull out all the stops. Between the couture-like proportions, Chanel bags and monochromatic outfits, there is enough fashion inspiration to last until spring.

Check out the most drool-worthy street style images below and tell us you aren't planning your next trip to Paris.

Ariana Grande Performs 'Break Free' On 'SNL,' Confirms Cat Ears Are A Thing Now

Ariana Grande performed "Break Free" on "Saturday Night Live" last night while inexplicably wearing cat ears. It's not October yet. This was not an early Halloween performance or even a cat-themed performance. Although, it is a thing she has done before and presumably will continue to do without explanation beyond implied homage to her Nickelodeon character. Either way, it seems that Ariana Grande wearing cat ears is just another thing we have to accept now, much like Ariana Grande wearing her hair in a high ponytail and the impermanent nature of human existence. Watch her performance below.

Chelsea Clinton has given birth to her first child, which means Bill and Hillary are now grandparents. Time for some '90s jokes!

Like all good grandparents, we'd like to think that Mr. and Mrs. Clinton will buy onesies for their granddaughter with funny sayings on them. With that in mind, we came up with a few designs that should clearly be made available for America's Royal Baby™ immediately.

Fashion and politics may be strange bedfellows, but they definitely go together. "Design," observes Shauna Levy, the president of the Design Exchange, "is a view-finder, if you will. It's a way in which to look at political events, it's a way to look at what's happening in society, and a way in which to look at history." In this video post, I talk to her about the Design Exchange's provocative new show, co-curated by Jeanne Beker and Sara Nickelson, "The Politics of Fashion, The Fashion of Politics."

I also speak to Frank Toskan, co-founder of MAC Cosmetics, who will be honored at the DX's upcoming fundraiser, and who has lived out the marriage of fashion and politics in his own life and career. Toskan didn't just break the mold as an entrepreneur--he changed the world. "My partner Frank Angelo and I were rebellious kids and we grew up to be rebellious adults," he tells me. "We fought for the things we believed in. We fought for our community and I think it came back to us."

The One Thing Dermatologists Agree On (Other Than Sunscreen)

By Corrire Pikul

Everyone's got their favorite tricks for younger, more radiant skin. But this ingredient tops the must-try lists of all the experts and has reams of scientific support.

Ask a dermatologist for her No. 1 skin-care recommendation and you know you'll hear something along the lines of: "Wear SPF! Seriously! What's it going to take to get you people to put it on?!" So we asked our experts for their second most important piece of advice, and every one of them said the same thing: "Use retinoids." These vitamin A derivatives have been proven to boost collagen production (reducing wrinkles and preventing fine lines), speed cell turnover (evening out discoloration and brightening skin tone) and unclog pores (making them look smaller and reducing acne). "I can always tell when a woman uses these. She'll have that dewy, fresh-faced look—like she just had a facial," says Emmy Graber, MD, a dermatologist and assistant professor of dermatology at the Boston University School of Medicine. You'll want to know these 4 things before giving retinoids a try.

You don't need an Rx, but here's why you might want one.

Tretinoin, the most common prescription retinoid, is stronger, more potent and faster-acting than retinol, the OTC version, says Graber. In fact, the lowest Rx concentration can be 20 times stronger than the highest amount allowed by the FDA in drugstore products, one study showed. But because retinoids have been known to cause redness and dryness among the newly initiated, the OTC products can be an excellent starting point for sensitive skin. Graber says that the lower-concentration retinoid products may be especially beneficial for the eye area, where the skin is thinner and more delicate than the rest of the face.

They have something (very important!) in common with Gremlins.

No direct sunlight—not when using any kind of retinoid. Not only is retinoid-treated skin super-sensitive to UV rays and likely to burn, but the sunlight also makes the product less effective. That's why dermatologists strongly recommend putting these products on your face before bed and using a sunscreen every morning. ("If I have a patient going on a beach vacation, I'll even tell her to stop using Retin-A for a week prior to departure," Graber says.)

Once you start, you won't want to go back.

"I don't know anyone over age 25 who could not benefit from a nightly retinol product," says Brooke Jackson, MD, a dermatologist and associate professor of dermatology at UNC at Chapel Hill. You may notice results in as little as four weeks if you're using a stronger prescription product; opt for an OTC cream, and it will take closer to 12 weeks for you to notice a difference. The benefits last for as long as you keep up the routine, as skin doesn't stop responding, and retinoids haven't been proven unsafe in prolonged use. (Just be aware that even long-term users may need to take breaks, as retinoids are not considered safe for women who are pregnant or breast-feeding.)

This is the most costly mistake people make with retinoids.

They put on too much (because they think more is better) but you only need a pea-size amount for your entire face, Graber says. Slathering on retinoid creams won't only cause you to quickly use up your supply, but it can also cause redness, dryness and irritation. Even when used judiciously, retinoids can be quite drying. That's why Graber recommends a moisturizer just before bed.

Jean Paul Gaultier Puts On The Best Show Of Paris Fashion Week

Jean Paul Gaultier is responsible for some seriously iconic moments in fashion history. So when the designer announced that his 2015 Spring/Summer ready-to-wear collection at Paris Fashion Week would be his last, we knew something epic was to come.

The show, which happened Saturday evening at Paris' Le Grand Rex cinema, went above and beyond anything we have seen during Paris Fashion Week, and maybe even ever. Here are all the reasons JPG's final ready-to-wear go around will go down as fashion (and fun) history.

First of all, it was a beauty pageant.

beauty pageant

Gaultier's final ready-to-wear collection played out as a beauty pageant, with models "competing" to win the "Election de Miss Jean Paul Gaultier 2015." This was not his first time using the contest angle. Last year, he staged his collection as a replica of ABC's "Dancing With The Stars." Clearly, he's a fan of healthy competition.

So, naturally, there were dancers.

dancers

And cyclists.

He paid homage to his favorite women in the industry (Carine Roitfeld and Grace Coddington, to name a few).

Gigi Hadid walked the runway with big, BIG hair.

There were models of all ages strutting down the runway with shirtless men in tow.

There were also extreme hats.

But best (and not surprisingly) of all, there was tons of FUN.

Suit Up: 3 Ways to Tell If Your Suit Fits

$

suit2

In case you didn't know, a suit jacket is the most versatile item you can own as its able to be dressed-up with a shirt and tie, dressed-down with your favorite tee and layered under and over without losing any of its sartorial appeal.

Whether you've got business to handle and need to look sharp for the competition, or you just want to wine and dine your lady looking like a class act, a suit is the basic building block of looking good. It's a timeless, ever adaptable wardrobe essential that is meant to be played. Hard.

From power player to happy hour and everywhere in between, the beauty of a well fitted jacket is that the possibilities are endless.

Trust me when I say that it doesn't matter what kind of suit you're investing in, whether its $200 or $2,000, wool or seersucker, two-button or three, the most important factor in this wardrobe equation is FIT.

Here are 3 ways to tell if your suit jacket fits:

2014-09-26-suit23.jpg

1)Hug it Out:
Let's take it from the top shall we? A good suit should hug your shoulders, not fall off of them. To be sure your jacket actually fits try hugging someone. I'd suggest hugging someone you know as a non willing participant could make for an awkward moment. Just a thought. Now, if it feels like you're going to burst a seam and go all hulk mania on the person you're hugging then it's safe to say its not a good fit. A rule to remember? When buying a suit, go ahead and try sizing down. Trust me, just try it. Most men think they wear a size larger then they actually do which results in an overall sloppy look. Bottom line? When you pull on a jacket, there should be firmness to it that instantly makes you stand taller. A man in a well fitted suit is to be taken seriously. Be. That. Dude.

2)Get Cuffed Up:

2014-09-26-fitsuit.jpg

Your suit sleeves should end just above the hinges of your wrists, so a quarter to half inch of shirt cuff shows. Try the "curl up" test by pulling on your suit jacket and letting your arms hang relaxed at your sides. Curl your fingers up and make sure the jacket tail rests right in that crevice your fingers have made. If it's bunched up, the jacket's too long. A rule to remember? Your flat hand should slip easily into your suit under the lapels when the top (or middle) button is fastened and the jacket sleeves should fall where the base of your thumb meets your wrist.
3)Bring It In For the Real Thing:
2014-09-26-suit28.jpg

Tapering is the name of the game. Your jacket should contour to the shape of your body. This is where your tailor comes in. If you don't have one, I'd suggest getting one...yesterday. Have your tailor nip your jacket at the sides to give you a waist, because yes, you have one and yes, you do want to accentuate it. By doing so, you'll also be highlighting your shoulders--whether you've got ones that say "welcome to the gun show" or not, a good tailor will make you look like you do.

So suit up gents! You and your girl can thank me later...

These Senior Citizens Know Everything There's To Know About Personal Style

Note: You should probably be taking fashion advice from grandma. Especially if your grandma is as chic as the women in the documentary "Advanced Style".

Ari Seth Cohen and Lina Plioplyte's film, which stems from the original blog and book, follows a group of women over 60 who lead creative, fashionable lives in New York City.

Two of the stars, Debra Rapoport, 68, and Lynn Dell Cohen, 81, stopped by HuffPost Live, along with Ari Seth Cohen, to discuss the documentary and of course, to share some serious fashion wisdom.

During the segment, the ladies translate the major difference between fashion and style. Dell Cohen breaks it down in simple terms, saying, "Fashion says 'me too'... because it highlights the "new thing," while styling oneself has its own uniqueness. She added, "But style says 'only me' -- you have to try. You have to look at yourself in the mirror, accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative. That's really what it's all about."

She goes on to emphasize that dressing ourselves boils down to "whatever makes you feel good," proving that despite what's in-season, we're always going to have our own sense of style -- no matter how old, well young, we are.

Watch the HuffPost Live clip above and hear more advice and qualms from the women of "Advanced Style."

Avril Lavigne Celebrates Birthday Without Chad Kroeger, Fuels Divorce Rumors

Avril Lavigne was surrounded by friends as she turned 30 on Saturday night, but her husband Chad Kroeger was noticeably absent from the singer's bash at The Bank Nightclub in Las Vegas, reports Us Weekly.

The Canadian singer was all smiles in a hot pink strapless dress, but Kroeger's absence only fuels rumors that couple are on the brink of divorce.

“It’s over,” a source told Us Weekly. “[Kroeger] has been going around LA telling people that they are divorcing.”

Rumors of a split began earlier this month, though People magazine notes that the pair haven't been seen together since late April and suggest that the relationship is likely over since they've been spotted breaking some of the self-imposed rules they set for a successful marriage. Last year, the musicians told the magazine that they wouldn't drink when they weren't together, and they wouldn't spend more than two weeks apart from each other.

The Nickelback frontman proposed to Lavigne in August 2012, after dating for just over a month. The couple, who also sport matching tattoos with the phrase, "live in the present moment" in French on their left forearms, went on to tie the knot in July 2013 in a lavish ceremony in a castle in the south of France.

So far neither Lavigne nor Kroeger have commented on the rumors.

Miley Cyrus, never one to shy away from posting a good ol' topless photo, took to Instagram on Sunday to share a racy shower snapshot after performing "hungover" during her Bangerz tour in Rio de Janeiro.

"Me as @skyferreira @cheythom," Cyrus captioned the photo, in which she's covering her breasts with her hands as makeup runs down her face:

The "Wrecking Ball" songstress shared a selfie earlier in the evening, writing, "most hung over show of all history COMPLETE! Fucking rad crowd in Rio!"

The sake she was sipping on the night before might have something to do with that hangover ...

Still, despite the sexy shower pose, Cyrus is no stranger to topless pics. She has posted many over the course of this year and has posed nude in a handful of magazine spreads.

Yes! You Can Have 3 Breasts! For Halloween!

Halloween is a great day to act like a boob, but why stop at one when you can have three.

You could dress up as Jasmine Tridevil, 21, the Florida woman who caused the Internet to collapse in hilarity after she claimed to have had a third breast inserted between the two she was born with.

Yes, the Tridevil story seems to be a hoax, but Halloween is the perfect time to pretend you're something you're not.

HalloweenCostumes.com has created a do-it-yourself costume that allows anyone with the will and desire to be a three-breasted woman.

three breasted halloween costume

The company suggests overlapping and hot gluing two pairs of their $9.99 "super drooper boobs" together. Then, just use shiny pink fabric as a makeshift bra.

A little bronzer will help the breasts match the wearer's skin tone, and a jet black wig tops the whole ensemble.

HalloweenCostumes.com spokesman Marlon Heimerl said the company knew they had a winner of an outfit when they first saw Tridevil showing off her three-pack.

"When the initial story of the infamous three breasted woman went viral, it had the familiar 'this could be big' ring of Miley's twerking antics of 2013," he told HuffPost by email. "We knew this had the potential to blow the lid off gag costumes in 2014."

Heimerl predicts the Tridevil-inspired costume has what it takes to be a popular Halloween costume.

"The more timely -- and often bizarre, awkward or generally shocking -- the better virility of the costume," he said. "The idea is to create a costume that is right on the top of everyone's mind, and get a few disapproving head shakes in the process."

Here's a wedding gown that literally goes the extra mile.

According to photo agency Imaginechina, the gown weighs 120 pounds and took a month and more than $6,500 to make.

The previous Guinness-record-winning wedding gown was 1.85 miles in length. It was worn by Romanian model Emma Dumitrescu in 2012 to promote a wedding fair in Bucharest.

FKA Twigs Targeted By Racist Trolls For Dating Robert Pattinson

FKA twigs, Robert Pattinson's rumored girlfriend, commented Sunday about the vicious and racist tweets she's received since news of the romance broke earlier this month.

"I am genuinely shocked and disgusted at the amount of racism that has been infecting my account the past week," the singer, whose real name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett, tweeted on Sept. 28. "Racism is unacceptable in the real world and it's unacceptable online."

Much of the hate aimed at the 26-year-old singer appeared to be coming from extreme fans of Pattinson's ex and former "Twilight" co-star, Kristen Stewart, who are not only posting racist comments, but can't seem to get over the fact that the Robsten years are long gone.

This isn't the first time the singer has dealt with racist remarks. In a June 2014 interview with Dazed, FKA twigs opened up about being the only mixed-race girl in her Catholic school.

“Obviously it was hard. People said horrible things about something I had no control of, which was tough. But that’s okay. Life isn’t supposed to be easy, is it? I never really saw anything wrong with how I looked, it was more that certain people pointed things out to you about yourself," she told the magazine. "Either your hair’s different, or the color of your skin, or your features. Half of my life I’ve had people staring at me because they think I’m funny-looking and ugly. The other half of my life
I’ve had people staring at me because they think I’m fascinating. Everything neutralizes. It’s more of a statement on society and how weird it is.”

50 Years Of New York Film Festival Photos

On Sunday night, Martin Scorsese's new documentary, "The 50-Year Argument," premiered at the New York Film Festival.

A retrospective on The New York Review of Books, the film seems to come with an obvious challenge: How do you make highfalutin literary and political criticism cinematically interesting? Led by the indelible editor Robert Silvers, the documentary does not tether itself to a linear origin story; through vintage video of Gore Vidal and Norman Mailer duking it out on "The Dick Cavett Show," excerpted passages from Robert Lowell, James Baldwin and Joan Didion, the impact of The Review takes on a new and palpable form on the big screen.

In a Q&A after the film, Scorsese and Silvers spoke of New York and the intellectual restlessness of 1963, the founding year of both The Review and The New York Film Festival.

Fifty some-odd years later, the kismet is shared by more than these two auteurs. To celebrate both institutions, HuffPost Entertainment compiled some of our favorite photos from the last half century of the New York Film Festival.

"The 50-Year Argument" airs Sept. 29 at 9:00 p.m. ET on HBO.

Kim Kardashian has a "secret."

The 33-year-old reality star posted a sultry photo of herself with model Cara Delevingne, in which the pair look all wet, have their hair matted to their faces and wear what appear to be swimsuits. Also tagging the model and Love magazine editor-in-chief Katie Eleanor Grand, Kardashian coyly captioned the photo: "Secret project."

Secret project, indeed. Something tells us fans can expect a steamy photo shoot featuring Kardashian and Delevingne in an upcoming issue of the magazine.

It's hard to look chic at the airport, but Jessica Simpson apparently has no trouble doing it.

Simpson wore lace shorts, a blazer and sky-high pumps to Los Angeles International Airport for a departing flight Monday. The star looked stylish in the all-black outfit as she made her way past paparazzi to the gate beside husband Eric Johnson.

"Marriage has changed us in a lot of ways," the 34-year-old, who married Johnson in July, said last week on "Today." "I just think we're a little bit more addicted to each other. I just think that there is a level of love ... it has just reached the highest of high."
