Looks like Lena Dunham is starting her new year on a high note, landing the cover of ELLE magazine's annual Women In TV issue. We've seen Dunham go mod-chic on both Vogue and Glamour, but this time, she got an edgy '80s makeover that we love.

On the cover, the "Girls" star and creator wears a Michael Stars T-shirt, a Tiffany & Co. heart necklace and a Sydney Evan earring.

Inside the issue, the writer gives off dark romantic vibes in tight silhouettes that hit her curves in all the right places.

First, she lounges in Dolce & Gabbana, equipped with Christian Louboutin pumps and a peeking Hanro of Switzerland bra.

Then we see Dunham's cool-girl style shine with a Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane jacket, Rebel Rebel T-shirt, Adam Lippes skirt and another pair of Louboutins. Valentine's Day might be more than a month away, but Dunham's definitely giving us a head start in planning our sexy V-day outfits.

Finally, Dunham's bleach blonde locks finally fall into place with a choppy coif and a simple, yet sharp cat-eye that proves eyeliner is the best accessory.

This Is What Happens When A Woman 'Manspreads' On The Subway

$

Apparently, taking up too much space on the subway (a.k.a. "manspreading") is only socially acceptable when men do it.

Mic editor Liz Plank and Mic account executive Nick Heitz took to the New York City subways to see how people reacted when a woman manspreads. They found that people were not too comfortable with a woman manspreading, but seemed very accustomed to a man taking up multiple seats with his wide-legged stance.

While manspreading, Plank received numerous stares, and a random dude even snapped a picture of her splayed legs with his phone. There was little reaction to Heitz, who had his legs and briefcase spread authoritatively across three seats. (Though towards the end of the video, a few women politely asked him to move his bag.)

The experiment was created in light of a petition written by men's rights activists claiming that men need to take up more space due to the "testicles between [their] legs" and that anti-manspreading campaigns are "male-bashing." This is just one of a long list of bizarre and sexist arguments MRAs often use against feminist efforts.

The manspreading phenomenon has been discussed at length in projects such as "Move The Fuck Over, Bro" and "Men Taking Up Too Much Space On The Train," prompting the NYC Metropolitan Transportation Authority to launch a campaign encouraging everyone to be more courteous on the subways.

Plank explains in the video how collectively standing up to manspreading can empower us all. So, to all you manspreaders out there: Some manners and a little self-awareness goes a long way.

CORRECTION: 1/6/15 4:30 p.m. -- The original version of this post wrongly identified Nick Heitz as Nick Baker. It has since been corrected.

How To 'Un-Makeup' For 2015

Don’t get us wrong -- we love a glittery eye or bold lip for those festive nights out on the town. But when it comes to everyday makeup, we're after a look that is fresh, natural, and a cinch to apply. Conveniently, this happens to be the forte of Barneys' resident beauty guru Jason Ascher.

Jennifer Aniston Gets Real About Embracing Your Body And Loving Yourself

Jennifer Aniston has one of the most enviable bodies in Hollywood, but even she admits no one should take pasta off the menu.

“Blasphemy, I know,” the 45-year-old actress told InStyle for the February issue. "I never ate pasta. I’ve been allowing myself a lot more in the past few years. Which does make it harder to lose those last few pounds. But you have to live. And so what? You go up a size. What’s the big deal?” Amen, sister.

Aniston also opens up to the magazine about life with fiance Justin Theroux, and how she finally landed a solid partner in crime.

“It’s no secret: I’ve had some challenging companionship,” said Aniston, who went through a very public divorce from Brad Pitt in 2005. “I think hitting a wall with that really kind of [helped me grow]. I found a really great therapist. Not to sound too ‘woo woo,’ but I think the self-love piece was really important. And spending a lot of time alone," Aniston added. "Having time to ask myself why there was such toxicity in my immediate space at times. Why would I attract that instead of light?”

But light is what she got with Theroux, whom she's been with since May 2011. As for their highly-anticipated nuptials, Aniston admits they're still torn on whether to have a secret ceremony or just go for the whole shebang.

“There’s a big discussion in our house right now: Do you just do it and say screw it? Or do you try desperately to get away with [a secret ceremony] where you don’t have any fun because you’re hiding in a cave somewhere?” she said. “If we could do it without all the buzzing and the noise … It can be done. When there’s a will, there’s a way.”

Lucky's February Issue Makes Us Wish More Fashion Bloggers Got Their Own Covers

$

Lucky Magazine welcomed a new year with a new approach to its cover. In lieu the usual model or celeb cover girl, the February issue made history by putting three fashion bloggers on its cover.

luckymag

Chiara Ferragni of The Blonde Salad, Zanita Whittington of Zanita Zanita and Nicole Warne of Gary Pepper Girl were all featured, further cementing the importance (and continual rise) of blogging. Though we've seen other bloggers on the cover of magazines before -- Tavi Gevinson has covered Nylon and New York -- this is the first time that so many bloggers have been put on the cover of a national magazine.

Though this news broke a few days ago, we still can't stop talking about it -- which inevitably led us to think about all the other amazing bloggers who deserve their own covers. In case this does in fact become the next big fashion trend, here are the ladies we hope to see grace our favorite glossies in 2015:

Nicolette Mason

New blog post! Wearing @additionelle florals & stripes www.nicolettemason.com

A photo posted by nicolette mason (@nicolettemason) on

Nicolette Mason is not only a fashion blogger, she also does work with the LGBTQ community and is a positive role model for so many people. Plus she is RAD.

Gabi Gregg

Gabi Gregg has a fresh approach to style blogging (hence the "fresh" in GabiFresh) and she's expanded her aesthetic to swimwear collections that give a wider range of women a chance to feel good about themselves during beach season.

Hanneli Mustaparta

So the former model has actually graced a few mag covers already (like Elle Norway)-- but we think she deserves to land more. Her style is amazing and she aligns with the "girl on the street" vibe that many aspire to. (Side note: WOULDN'T HER COVER BE SO GLAMOROUS? OMG).

Leandra Medine

This girl is arguably the biggest fashion blogger around and we think her amazing sense of style deserves its own mag cover. Also with Leandra, you're pretty much guaranteed hilarious pull quotes.

Elin Kling

There are few people who do minimalism as well as Elin Kling. That alone is magazine cover-worthy.

Frankie needs a fashion magazine cover for the simple fact that we gasp every time she posts a picture of herself on Instagram. We basically want everything in her closet.

Aisle Do: Bridal Makeup Do's and Don'ts

Exchanging vows is something most girls dream about, so everything has to be perfect. You've got the gorgeous guy (or gal), the ring and the dress, but one factor that can often be high on the anxiety list is the makeup. The tendency may be to go big (it's a celebration!), but flamboyance isn't always flattering. I'm going to offer my five key do's and don'ts for looking your best when you say "I do." And yes, they may seem straightforward, but on the build-up to the big day things can often get on top of you. So take a deep breath, exhale and let these words of wisdom work wonders on your wedding day.

2015-01-06-bridalhuffpo1.jpg

1. If you're going to get a makeup test in-store, be sure to wear a plain white T-shirt. You'll be able to see just how strong the makeup appears against a pale color, and it will give you the best impression of how it'll look on the actual day in your bridal gown.

2. Next, take a photo of yourself with a real digital camera (avoid using your phone) as soon as you can after the makeup is finished. The camera never lies, and your makeup must look positively pap-able for those wedding day snaps! It doesn't hurt to take a close friend with you, one that will give an honest opinion.

3. Get the basics right. You want to focus on flawless, beautiful skin and soft eyes. Once the classic elements are there, everything else will come together, leaving you with the option to try out a bold red pout or keep it natural with a nude lippie.

4. Steering too far away from your typical look is the biggest mistake brides make. This is a day that you will remember for the rest of your life, so don't fall for any beauty look that doesn't make you feel like yourself. On your special day, you need to stick to a makeup style that you feel the most comfortable and confident in!

5. Take your time. Allow enough space to create the perfect look on the actual day. Correct application may take a few minutes, but you're the queen and this is your most memorable day! Set aside at least an hour for application (the ritual may even calm your nerves). If you are getting your makeup done by a professional, allow enough time for makeup mishaps! You don't want to rush the process. And remember that no matter what, there's nothing more beautiful than a bride!

Victoria Justice: 'I Do Have A Little Bit Of A Dark Side'

Victoria Justice is starting off the year on top -- and on the cover of Seventeen.

Rocking a laid-back look wearing jeans and a bright yellow tee, Justice talks about her latest project in their February issue: a brand new MTV show, "Eye Candy," based on a novel by "Goosebumps" author, R.L. Stine. Justice plays a hacker on the show, which premieres Jan. 12.

The actress and singer won over fans back in 2010 with her Nickelodeon series, "Victorious." Since then, she's proven to be a talented musician; she's released several singles including one for the U.N. "Girl Up" campaign. Her debut album, "Shake," is set to premiere this year.

In the interview, the actress talks about her dark side, her love life, and how she deals with stress.

Scroll down to see her cover as well as highlights from the interview. Grab your copy of Seventeen when it hits stands on Jan. 6.

On her role in "Eye Candy":

“It’s a very sexy thriller-drama. Victorious was musical singing, happy times, and colorful, and this show is the polar opposite, which is 100 percent why I was drawn to it. I do have a little bit of a dark side. I’m not this, like, queen of darkness, but it’s exciting to be in a darker world -- dark characters don’t scare me.”

On standing up for yourself:

“During my teenage years, I definitely learned to become more assertive. I feel like young people can sometimes be scared or intimidated by people in power or someone older than they are, but you can’t be afraid to speak up for yourself and speak your mind. Being able to take charge of situations and push through those difficult times is what helps you grow.”

On beating stress:

“I believe in reading self-help and inspirational books -- on my nightstand are 'The Alchemist,' 'Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff,' and Deepak Chopra’s 'The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success.' I’m also a very spiritual person, and I strongly believe in the power of meditation and the fact that you can change your own mind. Sometimes if you get to a certain level of meditation and you tap into your subconscious, you can attract amazing things into your life. It’s all about self-love, being your own best friend, and enjoying your own company. Once you have that, the world is your oyster.”

On her relationship with actor Pierson Fodé:

“It all comes down to chemistry -- it’s either there or it’s not. And relationships are not always easy. I’m currently in a relationship [with actor Pierson Fodé], and he’s in L.A., so it’s important to find ways to stay connected -- even just playing Words With Friends and Skyping when you can. When you’re young, not every relationship is going to work out. You’re going to go through breakups, and you’re probably going to have your heart broken. It’s important to remember that just because someone breaks up with you, it doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with you. All relationships are a learning curve.”

Jinteriors = Jean Interiors

2014-12-18-denim1.jpg
The ladies of ZOOM interiors showcasing the allover denim look.

Denim is taking over the world. That is no hyperbole. It's coming back in a big, big way: jorts, dungarees, and Canadian tuxedos. In fact, denim is covering every square inch of our bodies. And, soon enough, our interiors.

Just so that we are all on the same page... denim is a certain type of fabric made of cotton and woven in a much too particular way. Jeans are pants made of said denim. And, any article of clothing starting with a "j", is constructed of denim.

Jean + shirt = jirt. Got it? Good.

Jeans were conceived for the workingman of the 19th century: the hard-working, gold-rushing, entrepreneur-birthing middle-class American man. He needed a durable pant to suit his lifestyle. A "git 'er done" pant, if you will. And, what is known today as the blue jean was officially born via Levi Strauss' mangina.

Once a cultural phenomenon, always a cultural phenomenon. The blue jean exploded during the gold rush and fashion icons ever since have been rocking denim. Kate Moss got her big break because of a pair of, you guessed it, jeans. Hello, JT and Brit? They redefined jean on jean on jean. And it doesn't get any more classic than Madonna donning her boyfriend j-jacket (jean jacket).

Yet the manipulation of denim is still unfolding. Today, denim has evolved past the staple of every wardrobe and has begun trickling into interiors. Denim is the new leather. Mark our words. And again, that is no hyperbole because denim hits the genetic jackpot of upholstery fabrics. It is durable as hell. It is about as cheap as it comes. And it is freakishly versatile.

2014-12-18-sofa.jpg

Get the denim look with a settee from Anthropologie.

Light wash, dark wash, acid wash? We like them all the same. But if blue isn't your color, try upholstering your sofa in a gray-washed denim. This will keep a neutral palette so that you can bring in color through accessories. We are salivating over the thought of a sexy gray denim accent chair paired with a white Mongolian fur throw pillow. Scrumptious.

The best part about denim: there is no such thing as a denim overdose. Channel your inner hipster and layer on the denim, from the windows to the walls. Denim is the design Gods' gift to interior designers. And in the holiday spirit, we gift denim unto you.

Joan Didion Stars In Céline's New Campaign

It may be too early to say this, but Céline just debuted the best campaign of 2015.

It's not the clothing nor the styling that makes this ad swoon-worthy, though, it's the model. Joan Didion -- yes, the 80-year-old iconic writer and truth-teller, is the star of the fashion house's Spring 2015 ad.

And while we're more used to seeing the likes of professional models, like Daria Werbowy, featured in Céline's ads, this move is an achievement not only because it's an amazing shot with an unconventional model but also because, well, it's Joan Didion. Despite the fact that Didion got her start writing for Vogue she is (understandably) far more recognized for her literary achievements than her sense of style.

Of course, she's not the only icon to ever star in a fashion campaign. Maya Angelou posed for Cole Haan back in 2013. But when you think of Céline's cool-girl aesthetic, Didion actually seems like a perfect match.

Looks like you've got huge, insightful, iconic shoes to fill, other brands.

Jared Leto Makes A Fanny Pack Look Sexy

It isn't often that "fanny pack" and "sexy" are found in the same sentence, but it's definitely happening today, thanks to Jared Leto.

That's one sexy fanny pack:

In a Twitter photo posted Monday, Leto proved that you don't have to sacrifice convenience to maintain a cool image. In fact, the Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman is so set on making the practical accessory trendy, he's even renamed it the "hip pack." You can get your own hip pack, in Leto's bright red and blue or a sleek, chic black and grey for $32 on his website, JaredLetoMerch.com.

Leto has been spotted rocking the look before, but perhaps he was influenced to bring back the retro fashion piece by his "Dallas Buyers Club" co-star Matthew McConaughey, who bravely defended his decision to wear one at a baseball game back in August 2014.

"I'm not afraid of the fanny pack," McConaughey declared to a reporter.

Or, perhaps Leto was one of thousands inspired by a viral photo of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson delicately clutching a waist wallet:

FKA Twigs appears topless as one of four cover stars for V Magazine's Music issue.

The 26-year-old singer-songwriter, who also happens to be dating Robert Pattinson, looks gorgeous on the cover of Issue 93, wearing nothing but silver jewelry and nude underwear. In the accompanying interview, she discusses art and influential locales, like the London underground and New York City.

"For the past two years, in New York, I’ve been voguing and learning more about the movement. I go to kiki balls and reach out to dancers. I’m not even that good, but I’m getting there," FKA Twigs told V.

She continued: "I wrote a song, a month ago. I can’t remember the lyrics. It was something like 'boys growing boys growing girls into women.' I’ve felt more like a woman since I’ve met these men so in touch with their femininity. They teach me how to be a woman, how to feel, how to have class and poise, and how to feel good about myself. I’ll dance for them and I’ll dance for myself, as thanks."

Sam Smith, Jessie Ware and Tinashe are also featured on the Music issue covers.

If you don't know Zendaya Coleman's name yet, 2015 will be the year you learn it. And the first place you'll see her is on the cover of February's issue of Teen Vogue.

Te 18-year-old Disney Channel veteran sports baggy cargo pants and tips a military hat coyly on the cover. The rest of the photos from her stunning desert shoot are equal parts tough and pretty.

Zendaya first won her way into our hearts on the Disney series "Shake It Up." Now, she's set to take on 2015 with a new Disney show, "K.C. Undercover." She'll have more creative control of this show, serving as a co-producer.

In her Teen Vogue interview, Z opens up about her career, being an introvert and embracing her passions.

Check out the February issue when it hits newstands on January 13. Scroll down to see our favorite photos of Zendaya.

On being an outsider:

"A lot of the kids who were auditioning had been doing it since they were like, 2. They were these purebred Hollywood children, and I was this random chick from Oakland just doing my thing."

On expanding her fan base:

"Well, the majority of my fan base are young girls, and I don't want to leave that world forever. But I also want to reach the preteens, the teenagers. A lot of college students watch the Disney Channel in their dorms, actually."

On discovering her passion early:

"My passion was always in the art. I was that weird 8-year-old who was into Shakespeare."

On being an introvert:

"When I was younger, my parents had to go to a seminar about shy kids."

'Urban Yoga' Project Connects Our Bodies To The Streets Around Us

$

As we write this post, photographer Anja Humljan has exactly seven minutes left to gather funds on Kickstarter for her project "Urban Yoga." She needn't hustle though, because she's already reached her goal; in fact, she's $1,524 past her $10k ambitions. Well over 200 people pooled together to make the Slovenian artist's dreams come true.

Those dreams, if you hadn't guessed, involve photographing rather agile individuals practicing yoga in urban spaces. "The Urban Yoga Photo Book" is meant to compile images taken over the course of a year in New York, Paris, Madrid and Ljubljana, showcasing the ways in which our bodies are capable of mimicking the natural and artificial worlds around us.

yoga

"As an architect and yogi, I believe cities should not be regarded as something which disturbs our harmony, but rather as a vital element that contributes to it," she writes on her Kickstarter. "So, I went off the mat and into the city to change the way we feel, breath and think about urban environment."

“Sometimes we feel like the urban environment limits our freedom, causes stress, and disturbs our inner peace,” she added in My Modern Met. “But only few people know that it is not geometry and function, but what we touch, smell, taste and hear that defines most whether we feel good or bad in an urban environment.”

As contorted bodies dangle off sidewalk railings and rest peacefully against subway columns, Humljan aims to emphasize how our urban surroundings are often built to accommodate our daily lives, rather than disrupt them. A woman in a white body suit bows, ploughs and planks in settings as surprising as a bathroom or truck bed and as tranquil as an empty tunnel or perch beside a pond. In nearly every portrait, Humljan is able to find balance between human and architecture.

The photographer debuted her series as a magazine during Paris Fashion Week, but has since turned to Kickstarter in hopes of producing a hardbound book. The PDF version of the book, available to the fans who supported her campaign, will be available in March.

Kit Harington's Hair May Actually Be A Huge 'Game Of Thrones' Spoiler

Kit Harington is known for his long curly locks, which are a pivotal part of his "Game of Thrones" character, Jon Snow. But on Monday night, the British actor caused a stir at the U.K. premiere of his new film, "Testament of Youth," thanks to his slightly shorter hair.

461099522

Here's a photo of Harington from October of 2014:

kit harington

While trimming off a few inches wouldn't mean much for most "GoT" actors, Harington's hair has its own contract with HBO that forbids the actor from cutting it shorter. (Fans freaked out last summer when the actor sported a short cut for his new film, but it turned out to just be a wig.)

Why does all this matter? WARNING: Spoiler alert for the books and show.

A haircut could mean Jon Snow's days are actually over. At the end of the most recent A Song of Ice and Fire book, A Dance with Dragons, Jon Snow was stabbed multiple times, leaving readers unsure if he would live or die (or become resurrected). Since Season 5 has likely finished shooting, Harington could have finished his final Jon Snow scenes, thus freeing him from his hair contract. None of this is confirmed, however, and one previous bit of news seems to contradict the hairy (not sorry) presumptions.

Last October, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that a handful of lead "GoT" actors had renegotiated their contracts for a "potential" seventh season. While the series has yet to be renewed beyond a Season 6, Harington's name was listed as one of the cast members whose new contract included an option for Season 7 -- meaning Jon would be around beyond Season 5, alive, dead or resurrected. HuffPost has reached out to HBO and Harington's publicists for comments on his new shorter hairstyle. Until then, all we can do is speculate and try our hardest not to cry over the loss of those curly locks.
