Is Shampoo Better Than Conditioner? 'Billy Madison' Is 20 Years Old

$
0
0
It was 20 years ago today, in 1995, when everyone's favorite obnoxious man-child went back to school. In "Billy Madison," Adam Sandler's titular 27-year-old went back to school to repeat 3rd grade through high school in order to take over his father's hotel empire. Along the way, Billy hallucinated a giant penguin, gave possibly the dumbest (but best) Academic Decathlon answer ever and declared peeing one's pants to be the coolest.

But "Billy Madison" also left our culture with a significant conundrum about personal hygiene: What's better, shampoo or conditioner? Billy put the two hair products head-to-head in the legendary bathtub scene, positing that while shampoo goes on first and "cleans the hair," conditioner leaves the hair "silky and smooth." The question remains:

Couple Married 81 Years: 'You're Damn Right' We're Still In Love

After 81 years of marriage, Dale and Alice Rockey still haven't lost their spark.

"You don't see them together without holding hands," their son Tom Rockey told Kansas City's FOX 4 News.

On Saturday, the Rockeys were honored by the Worldwide Marriage Encounter, a Christian group based in San Bernardino, California, as part of the organization’s 2015 Longest Married Couple Project. The title is based on nominations, so this does not make the pair the indisputable longest-married couple in the country -- just the longest-married among the 375 nominees.

The Rockeys -- who tied the knot on December 29, 1933 -- grew up just a couple blocks from each other in Hemingford, Nebraska. According to the Kansas City Star, their romance began one afternoon before a double date they had planned -- but Alice was supposed to be going with another guy and Dale with another girl.

When the other girl was still at work, Dale Rockey pulled up in front of Alice’s house. She was sitting on the front porch.

“He came by and says, ‘You want to go for a ride?’” recalled Alice Rockey. “So we went for a ride, and that was our first date.”

The pair went on to have five sons, 15 grandkids, 28 great-grandkids and six great-great grandchildren.

When asked on Saturday, "Do you still love each other after all this time?", Dale replied with a laugh, "You're damn right!"

For more on their love story, watch the video above or head over to the Kansas City Star.

Fish Oil Benefits: Here's What You Need To Know

$
0
0
It's been drilled into our heads by doctors for years that a fish-rich diet is actually good for our bodies. It's suggested that we eat fatty fish that are also lower in mercury -- like salmon, trout, sardines and tuna -- at least two to three times a week or take fish oil supplements regularly to improve heart health, boost memory and even increase sperm count.

As if those health benefits weren't persuasive enough, there's also scientific research and nutrition claims that the omega-3 fatty acids found in fish also protect the skin against sun damage and nourish hair follicles.

But making sense of all the findings on fish oil -- not to mention swallowing that pill -- is no easy task. So we asked facialist and skincare creator Ildi Pekar, board-certified dermatologist Flor Mayoral, M.D. and Matrix celebrity stylist Nick Stenson to lay it straight.

The fatty acids in fish oil supply hydration to your skin and help with inflammation.
"Taking any kind of fish oil is like putting oil in your engine to run smoothly," says Pekar. "Fish oil is great for your heart and health but especially your skin," reducing acne and warding off wrinkles.

Dr. Mayoral agrees, adding that most dermatologic literature points to two properties of fish that help us out. Omega-3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties while low-glycemic foods like fish benefit people with psorasis, non-melanoma skin cancer and melanoma.

Fish oil also provides strength and shine to fragile or weakened hair.
A report published in the January 2013 issue of Dermatologic Clinics focused on nutrition and hair found that fatty acid deprivation or deficiency can lead to hair color changes or loss. This is why Stenson is such a huge advocate for using hair care products like this that are enriched with fatty acids, in conjunction with consuming fish oil, to boost luminosity, as well as resistance to breakage.

Fish oil is best taken orally so your body can extract the omega-3s to achieve healthy, beautiful skin and hair.
"One of the most special things about omega-3s in fish oil is that it caters to the natural oils we produce in our body helping us to be maintained and balanced," says Pekar. "Topical use does not affect your skin like it would if your body would to digest it." This is largely in part because most people need more omega-3s in their diet.

While there are few recommended doses for fish oil, a study published in the 2012 Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology concluded that excess consumption of fish oil can lead to side effects, including fishy aftertaste, abdominal pain, diarrhea and easy bruising/bleeding. So consult a physician first and be sure to read supplement labels, opting for non-processed fish oil. And if you're vegan, try flax, chia or even walnuts.

Do you take fish oil supplements or have a fish rich diet? Have you noticed a difference in the condition of your hair and skin? Tell us in the comments section.

Join the Cover-up: 6 Concealer Tricks

Concealer is the Holy Grail of makeup products. The multi-tasker can be used to reduce the appearance of dark circles and pimples, highlight and accentuate areas of the face, and more. Below are a few of my key concealer tricks I use on and off the runway to ensure my clients always look picture perfect.

2015-02-10-concealershuffpo.jpg

1) Play up your pout! Apply a light shade of concealer in a W shape under your lips. Ensure the outer points of the W are blended up past the outer corners of your lips with the bottom edge meeting your jaw line. This will help give the illusion of smoother and tighter skin around your chin and raise the corners of your lips. Instant face lift!

2) Not to prime is a crime, I always say, and foundation isn't the only makeup product that requires primer. Eye shadow does too! If you're out of eye primer or simply don't feel like splurging on another beauty product, apply a dab of concealer to your eyelids and blend thoroughly. This will stop product fallout to keep your shadow in place all day long.

3) Prevent lipstick from bleeding! For some women lining lips with a lip pencil just doesn't do the trick to stop lipstick color from bleeding throughout the day. Concealer to the rescue! Simply line the outside of your lips using a precision brush (like my Fine Line Sable Brush 2h) with concealer and voila! No more bleeding, and your lip line will look sharper.

2015-02-10-hollywoodv.jpg

4) Diminish under-eye circles with my Hollywood 'V' technique! The biggest mistake women make when applying concealer is smearing it under the eyes in a crescent moon shape and blending. Instead, apply your concealer with a brush (I recommend one similar to my Full Coverage Brush g12) in the shape of a 'V' under each eye, making sure the 'V' starts on the inside and outside edges of each eye, meeting at the top of each cheekbone. This will create a highlight and make your eyes and the center of your face the focus. Pro tip! If your skin is on the porcelain side, make sure to apply your Hollywood 'V' before your foundation so it blends seamlessly with your skin tone. If you have a darker skin tone, apply your 'V' after your foundation.

5) Highlight! Apply a creamy concealer to your cupid's bow, above the arch of your brow, in the crease of the nostril, and on the center of your forehead. Blend well to erase any hard lines. Highlighting these specific areas tightens the center of the face for a more youthful looking appearance. Who doesn't want that?

6) Use a green colored concealer to cover blemishes! The green cancels out the redness in the blemish. Begin by covering the entire area with the green concealer, let it set, and follow with a concealer that matches your skin tone.

Sam Taylor-Johnson, 'Fifty Shades' Director, Explains 'The Journey' Of Anastasia's Pubic Hair

While "Fifty Shades Of Grey" fans might not be surprised to see Anastasia Steele donning a full bush in the upcoming film adaptation, those unfamiliar may be taken aback -- after all, when was the last time a big blockbuster included a female sporting such a look? According to the film's director Sam Taylor-Johnson, the decision to keep Steele's pubic hair intact was a "conscious choice," enacted by she and the film's lead, Dakota Johnson, as a plot device.

"Dakota and I had a very funny discussion about the arc and journey of her pubic hair," she told HuffPost Live on Monday. "That she should start one way and she goes on this journey with it and in line with how it's written in the book -- [the] journey of that."

"Fifty Shades of Grey" hits theaters this Friday, Feb. 13.

Russian Ballet Dancer Sergei Polunin Simply Slays Hozier's 'Take Me To Church'

What happens when you combine the talents of Russian ballet bad boy Sergei Polunin, Irish gospel luminary Hozier and photography pop wizard David LaChapelle? Apparently, a whole lot of angsty, sexy, beautiful dancing ensues.

LaChapelle directed the new visual interpretation of the Grammy-nominated hit, starring British Royal Ballet vet Polunin. The emotive dancer, donning only nude tights and a cluster of tattoos, sautés, tombés and pirouettes through an illuminated empty space. The white room clashes with the dark energy of the bluesy song, making Polunin's stunning dance moves resemble some kind of spiritual possession.

Enjoy.

The Problem With Shoppable Feminism

$
0
0
Amongst the hoards of vintage dresses and snarky cross-stitch creations that populate Etsy's pages exists a vast collection of t-shirts, tote bags and patches, all exuding a pink, glitterfied message of "girl power." The vendor site popular amongst kitschy and crafty crowds has helped foster a market for "feminist" paraphernalia that embraces a definitively "feminine" style -- think bubble-lettered Venus symbols, plushie uteruses, and grrrl power bracelets. Yet while these products seem to advertise feminism, they don't advertise it as an ideology or set of fundamental human rights: They advertise feminism as an aesthetic.

Homemade "girl power" accessories have made it easy for women, most commonly in their teens and 20s, to show off their personal beliefs through their appearance -- an appearance that is self-consciously stylized to a point of exaggeration. Pastel polka-dotted "smash the patriarchy" patches have turned a statement of resistance to the oppressive system of male domination into a catchy phrase that adds an extra touch of playful provocativeness to any outfit. Feminist ideologies become a fashion trend.

While the trendiness of feminism in the marketplace does offer some benefits by making feminism as a concept more approachable and appealing to the general public, it also does the feminist movement a disservice by reducing such a large scope of aspects into small, digestible accessories. Girl power products don't tackle issues like the wage gap. They may share slogans and phrases that raise awareness about problems like birth control-accessibility and sexual assault, but most often they overlook these real, harmful issues that feminism works to improve. Most problematic, however, are products that focus on gender as a biological identity, marketing tampon-themed crafts and the like as feminist accessories and therefore alienating the trans community from the movement.

What's being sold is Feminism Lite: an ideology shaved down to its most digestible bits, molded into something bite-sized, and packaged in a pretty, trend-worthy package.

But this isn't to say that feminism's common catch phrases, ideas and inspirations have no place on items that are bought and sold. Girl power-themed apparel and accessories can help spread feminist ideas to people who have trouble understanding the f-word. Elementary feminism can eventually lead to middle school feminism, to high school, to college and beyond. It's a start -- but a start that can lead down some dangerous paths.

The issue with feminism as a packaged and sellable idea is that an ideology becomes destroyed once it is turned into an aesthetic. Profit comes before progress. And as sellable feminism becomes popular amongst individual shop-owners, creators and designers, it moves easily to a larger scale capitalist venture.

T-shirt company FCKH8, getting wind of feminism's rise to fashion, took the web by storm in October with the release of their viral video, featuring young girls cursing while talking about gender inequality. The video raised some important points about the necessity of feminism (the wage gap, sexual assault) yet did so in a way that was both inappropriate -- making girls under the age of ten discuss rape -- and self-serving at heart. The company is for-profit, selling "anti-sexism gear" and only giving a few dollars per shirt to "kick-ass charities working to make the world more equal for women and girls," and ultimately using shock tactics to maximize their own revenue and breaking down an ideology into a series of catchy phrases in neon font printed on American Apparel t-shirts.

While feminist fashion products may allow feminists to display their beliefs with pride, they also reduce those beliefs to something that amounts to nothing more than a trend, easily packaged up and put on the self until it becomes in-style again. For feminism to help society to make real progress it has to be much more than a few fun slogans and kitschy Venus signs, made for the ultimate goal of a profit. Gender inequality is an expansive issue that requires a thorough, active force to eliminate it.

Wear your "fight the patriarchy" tee and "girl power" bracelet if you must. But fight for real change while you're at it.

Chic Sketch Fashion App Will Turn Your Photos Into Custom Fashion Illustrations

Whenever a new fashion app comes on the market (which seems to happen every single day), we're always a little skeptical. Sure, many apps have made our lives so much easier, but those are few and far between. But the minute we heard about Chic Sketch, we knew we had discovered a true game-changer.

Chic Sketch is a fashion app that turns your personal photos into custom fashion illustrations. Once you upload a photo, the image gets sent to a team of illustrators who turn your picture into a runway-ready sketch. The app itself is free (so you can browse other people's sketches), however each custom illustration will set you back $9.99. Since the illustrations are hand-drawn on tablets, you won't get the sketch back immediately -- it could take minutes, hours or even longer, depending on how many people are ahead of you in the virtual line -- but you will get a push notification the minute it's ready. There is however, an option to expedite your sketch for an additional $4.99.

As of right now you can only get a digital copy of your illustration, but in the future Chic Sketch plans to allow users to print their sketches on other items like stationary.

We decided to test out the app by turning the HuffPost Style editors into fashion illustrations. Check out the amazing results below and tell us you don't want one of your own.

Kanye West Clarifies Beck Comments, Says 'Voices' In His Head Told Him To Walk On Grammys Stage

Well, John Legend was right about one thing -- Kanye West's Grammy's stunt was defintiely something people were going to talk about.

In fact, three days after the ceremony, it's still in the news. And Ryan Seacrest wasn't about to pass up the opportunity to ask the 37-year-old rapper about his motivations for briefly walking up on stage when Beck won Album of the Year.

"You know, I felt like just the whole Grammys, right when that happened, everybody was looking at me and then people started screaming, 'Kanye! Kanye! Go do it!' Okay, that didn't really happen, these were voices in my head. So the voices in my head told me go and then I just walked up like halfway up the stage," West told Seacrest during an interview on Wednesday.

West continued, "You know, what I really wanted to do is just joke around about what had happened before, but I just really didn't want to take away from Beck's moment or the time he's having to talk because you know the Grammys, they play music really quick no matter who you are and everything. So I didn't want anything to take away from his screen time. So I just walked back down because you know, it was kind of a joke like the Grammys themselves."

The rapper also said his post-Grammy's tirade against the award show -- where West said Beck should "respect artistry" and give his award to Beyoncé -- was a mistake.

"When I said that thing about respect artistry, I think it came off the wrong way, and that was a mis-wording on my part because obviously Beck is one the most respected artists and respects artistry," he said. "But I felt that even though the Grammys sometimes gives awards to people who you wouldn’t think should win in the category, as a respect to artists, we mention the other artist's name in our speech. And that was the point I was making about it. There's like many of times I gave other people my award, literally made them come up onstage. Maroon 5, when they won best new artist, [Adam Levine] mentioned me because it was the College Dropout and [it had] 10 nominations and all that."

Rita Ora Says Four Sentences In 'Fifty Shades Of Grey'

Rita Ora put in a full compliment of prep work for her role as Mia Grey in "Fifty Shades of Grey."

"I prepped for the role by learning some French first of all, by learning an American accent and by really just not being me," Ora told MTV in April of 2014, months after she was cast as Christian Grey's sister. "I had a brown wig on and I was being the smart girl that came from French school to see her family, so it was just a lot of dedication, it was like going back to school."

Speaking to MTV in May of that same year, Ora revealed she had an acting coach for the film, too. "It was really nice to get into a whole other world that I wasn't used to, but it was pretty difficult," she said of her foray into movies.

Yet despite all that effort, Ora appears in less than two minutes of the 125-minute film. She says a grand total of four sentences, one of which is spoken in French. ("I had to have someone in my ear on set telling me what to say before I said it. Because I was honestly so nervous, I forgot everything I learned," she told Access Hollywood.) Ahead, everything Rita Ora says in "Fifty Shades of Grey."

1. "She's here?"
2. "Oh my God, you exist."
3. "Uck, Seattle baseball."
4. [sentence in French]

Glossier Makes Us Feel Good About Going Makeup-Free

When Into The Gloss founder and eternal "It" girl Emily Weiss introduced Glossier, which is "skincare as makeup," we couldn't wait to get our hands on the highly-coveted products.

The pared-down aesthetic of the brand coupled with its mission "to perfect (not conceal!) skin with minimal effort" made us want to toss out the beauty items in our bathrooms and start fresh.

Of course, we have been obsessed with Weiss' seemingly flawless skin since she first gave us a sneak peek into her Top Shelf.

Could Glossier's simple line-up really replace our makeup?

What Is It?

The first four Glossier products to roll out include a moisturizer, facial mist, balm and skin tint. Sold separately or as a complete set, they're made with soothing and hydrating ingredients such as aloe, rosewater and castor seed oil, which make them easy to integrate into your current skincare regimen.

Besides the non-fussy formulas, Glossier's neutral-colored packaging is pure and pretty. It packs a powerful punch when compared to the ostentatious labeling found on most beauty products.

How We Used It

glossier beauty products

Perfecting Skin Tint

"As a girl who doesn't like wearing makeup (and often doesn't wear any), I'm a huge fan. It's super lightweight and makes my skin look dewy and refreshed. When I apply it, it doesn't leave a thick residue on my fingers and immediately after. I can put my face on a pillow and the tint doesn't rub off. While I was afraid that the medium shade would be too light, the formula is so thin that it blended into my skin seamlessly. But my favorite part has to be that you can put it on right after you moisturize and it doesn't streak or change consistencies." - Michelle Persad, Fashion Editor

Soothing Face Mist

"The delicate rose-y smell is what really revs me up, and for at least an hour, my face has a refreshing glow. I use about three spritzes with each use; I use it in the morning when I reach the office, during the midday slump and before I leave work. I keep it on my desk, as the bottle is too big for travel. I wouldn't say that my skin feels that different after use, but since my face can get dry in the winter, the spray acts as an additional layer of hydration." - Chanel Parks, Associate Editor

Priming Moisturizer

"In colder climes, my skin can become incredibly dry and flaky. So I reach for thick face creams to pack on the moisture. I was a bit skeptical about this product's hydrating capabilities, especially because it isn't as rich. But my mind was completely blown at how hydrated my face felt for an entire day. Plus, my skin's overall texture felt smoother and didn't appear as dull." - Dana Oliver, Executive Fashion and Beauty Editor

Balm Dotcom

"This is another product that's great for in-between use. I wouldn't apply it in the morning because I have a day cream, but if I have some rough patches throughout the day, I can just slather some of this on. Plus, it's great for bedtime application. It's not a revolutionary item though, as it works just like Aquaphor. Still it's nice to know that Glossier cares about the ingredients in this product, like castor seed oil and cupuacau fruit extract, which is supposed to help the moisturizer last longer." - Chanel Parks

glossier mega greens galaxy pack mask

Mega Greens Galaxy Pack

"This spinach extract, avocado oil and white clay-blended mask is one the newest Glossier products. I smoothed on the green-tinged product onto my damp skin, into a thin layer as instructed and allowed it to set for 20 minutes. There was no tingling sensation or tautness like with other facial masks. And once I rinsed it off, my pores were unclogged and my skin felt supple." - Dana Oliver

Rating: 4 out of 5. Glossier beauty products may not be highly innovative, but they offer pretty impressive results.

Glossier provided samples of their products for review purposes.

Naomi Campbell Talks Why Famed Runway Moment Will 'Never Happen Again'

Naomi Campbell has sashayed down many a catwalk, most recently providing the closing strut in the Diane von Furstenburg Spring 2015 show. But there's one runway moment that the veteran supermodel holds near and dear: walking in Versace's Fall 1991 show. In a grand finale for the fashion books, Campbell was sent down the catwalk arm-in-arm with her fellow supermodels -- and besties -- Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington and Cindy Crawford.

"It's great to walk down with women that you respect, that are colleagues," she said to HuffPost Live on Tuesday. "Also, we were friends. That's the most important part. We were friends, we supported each other, loved each other, and that moment was special."

Fashionistas can rest easy knowing that, according to Campbell, the foursome "still are friends." Regardless, the "Empire" star knows it's unlikely such a moment will ever be repeated.

"Getting to walk down the runway with Linda and Christy and Cindy -- that's something that will never happen again," she said, "unless Donatella [Versace] says 'I want you all back together again.'"

Donatella, the people want more. We beg you: say those magic words!

What Not to Wear After Age 50: The Final Say

$
0
0
Google 'what not to wear after age 50' and you will have your pick of thousands of articles telling you what looks terrible on your old ass body.

I want to point out to the writer who wrote the 'no-no' article, you need to remember you are writing for over 50 women, not preschoolers. I don't think I've said 'no-no' since my youngest was a toddler.

We could spend hours studying the clothes we shouldn't wear and the slang we shouldn't use and the makeup techniques we need to retire.

Here's me, weighing in on this topic.

You are over 50 for fuck's sake. Wear whatever you want. If you've made it to 50 and still need to consult articles on how to dress appropriately then you are so missing out on one of the best things about being over 50. One of the best things about getting older is realizing that we don't have to spend our energy worrying what other people think and we get to be comfortable in our own skin with our own freak flags.

Still, there are a few things that women over 50 really shouldn't wear:

The weight of the world. When you wear the weight of the world on your shoulders, you age. If you like the feel of the world's weight and don't want to give it up, then try scaling back a bit. Perhaps just wear the weight of a few of the smaller continents. For instance, I am only wearing the weight of Australia and a made up country called 'Michelloponia'. I think it they have a slimming effect.

Shame and regret. So few people can carry this look off. Most of us just end up looking haunted or like we were forced to eat liver and onions. Shame and regret are especially hard to wear after fifty. Wearing shame and regret past fifty is one of those things that make your eyes all red and runny looking. The downward spiral just snowballs from there. Once the eyes get old lady looking, then you have to re-evaluate the wisdom of black eye liner. I say give up wearing shame and regret and fuck giving up on black eye liner.

Rose colored glasses. Oh, sweetheart, you know who you are. Those glasses do nothing for you. Not only do they make you look like you've been smoking weed for days, they also keep you from examining life and your surroundings realistically. Yes, reality sucks, but by the time we hit fifty, we need to suck it up, take those glasses off and dick punch reality into submission. Or just get some really big dark sunglasses instead. They cover all manner of sins.

Stiff upper lip. There is a time and a place for the stiff upper lip, but damn, it can't be worn all the time. Too much stiff upper lip causes those funky vertical lines between your upper lip and your nose holes. We don't always have to be stoic. I'm not suggesting that you wear your heart on your sleeve, but that is a much softer look than wearing a stiff upper lip.

Too many hats. Personally, I can't pull off wearing one hat much less many hats. I don't have a hat head. My hair poofs out and my ears look like car doors when I wear a hat. Wearing too many hats just exacerbates these issues. When you wear too many hats, it's easy to forget which hat you're wearing. For instance, are you wearing the 'no nonsense corporate' hat when you meant to wear your 'quirky and kicked back' hat? We're not getting any younger, you know. Sooner or later you're going to accidentally wear your court jester hat to the gynecologist and then where will you be? I'll tell you where you'll be. You'll be in an undignified position and wearing a stupid hat is where you'll be.

Resting bitch face. Hahahahaha. Just kidding. Wear that one all you want. Although, it wouldn't hurt if every once in a while, you had a welcoming and kind look on your face. At least that's what I hear from other people.

There isn't anything wrong with getting advice about updating your look or what to wear, but we are just inundated with that shit, aren't we?

Who says what is appropriate? From where I sit, it seems 'appropriate' changes based on geography, social status, income and size. After a while, the advice becomes a confusing blur. I think I'll just keep wearing my Keds and jeans and black tee shirts.

Oh, I do have one real tip. Stop wearing holiday theme clothes. Seriously.

83-Year-Old Supermodel Carmen Dell'Orefice On Scoring Another Gorgeous Cover: 'I Stood Up For Age'

It's not unusual for a supermodel to grace the cover of a well-known magazine, but when said supermodel is 83 years old -- that's something to talk about.

Carmen Dell'Orefice appears on the special edition cover of New You magazine wearing all black, long gloves, pearls and a perfect pout.

fadil berisha for new you

Though Dell'Orefice confessed last year that she's still "figuring out how to do the job" despite her 70-plus years working in the industry, this fierce cover proves yet again that she's still at the top of her game.

"I have had more magazine covers in the last 25 years than I have had in my whole elongated career," Dell'Orefice told the magazine. "Today I am in a territory that business considers unmarketable: age and white hair. Slowly, however, I started to own that territory little by little because I stood up for age."

Along with more magazine covers, Dell'Orefice continues to strut down the runway -- most recently in Singapore for Digital Fashion Week.

Just like Sports Illustrated is taking long overdue steps to show its readers that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, we can't help but rejoice that the current "models of the moment" -- Dell'Orefice on New You, Joan Didon for Celine and Joni Mitchell on the cover of New York Magazine -- are all over 50 years old.

The issue hits newsstands on February 11. Head over to newyou.com to read the full article and scroll down to see more photos of the star.

Naomi Campbell On Kerry Washington's Skin Lightening Cover Controversy: 'That Happened To Me'

Naomi Campbell won't say for certain if she thinks InStyle consciously lightened Kerry Washington's skin in her recent cover, but in a HuffPost Live conversation on Tuesday, the supermodel revealed that she's posed for mags and had similar outcomes.

"That happened to me," the "Empire" star told HuffPost Live's Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani. "It could be the lighting. I don't know for a fact, I wasn't there. But we know what Kerry looks like week after week, so why would they do that to us? We're not stupid, so it has to be a faux pas somewhere."

Campbell raises a legitimate point. While InStyle released a statement saying the studio lighting is to blame, it begs the question: Why wasn't the lighting adjusted to preserve her natural skin color?

The model accepts InStyle's explanation, but still regrets that such things happen to cover girls despite their wishes. But aside from her own feelings, Campbell's concerns are mainly on how the editorial altering of her skin could upset her family.

"My response always is, what's my mother, what's my grandmother going to think," she explained. "...If they don't like something, I'm worried."

Kim Kardashian Handles Mommy Multitasking Like Gisele Bundchen

One is a reality star and the other is a supermodel, but moms Kim Kardashian and Gisele Bundchen handle multitasking the same way.

Kardashian's team was busy primping the 34-year-old for a Kardashian Beauty Hair event in New York City on Tuesday night, but the reality star made sure to get in some snuggles with daughter North West at the same time. In a photo posted to Instagram, the reality star gets her makeup done by Mario Dedivanovic and has her hair blown out while little Nori rests on her lap:

quick glam and a snuggle before @kbeautyhair event

The photo is reminiscent of a 2013 shot of Bundchen, whose beauty team was helping her get ready for an event while she breastfed daughter Vivian. The supermodel tagged the photo #multitasking and #gettingready.

Why Two Non-Virgins Decided To Save Themselves For Marriage

Gunnar Larson wasn't a virgin when he started dating his now-wife Sarah, and neither was she. But they decided that they were going to wait until their wedding night to have sex anyway.

In a video posted Monday as a part of Refinery29's "Cupidity" series, Larson opened up about their joint decision to save themselves -- kind of.

"We both kind of came from a religious background," he said. "Funny thing is neither of us technically saved ourself for marriage. We felt like we could kind of redeem ourselves and give this gift of our sexuality to each other."

On their wedding night, Gunnar and Sarah finally "sealed the deal," so to speak. Larson called it a "spiritual moment."

"It was very ceremonial," he said. "We sat down before and had a little bit of champagne and we had a little chat about the day and it kind of escalated into this moment of really beautiful love-making."

For more on the couple's decision to wait and to hear more about their love story, watch the video above.
