Zendaya's Center-Parted Hair And More Celebrity Beauty Looks We Loved This Week

We love that rising star Zendaya has fully embraced her "weirdo" side. She's not afraid to experiment when it comes to fashion, but oftentimes we find that the 18-year-old triple threat's outrageous beauty looks steal the spotlight from her natural beauty. For example, this quirky pixie cut she sported at the 2015 Grammy Awards was all the rage.

However, we can't stop gushing over the center-parted hair Zendaya sported at a pre-Grammy party in West Hollywood. The super sleek 'do highlighted her chestnut brown strands and beautiful facial features.

Check out our favorite Zendaya hairdo (so far), and see which other celebrity beauty looks we loved this week.

Zendaya

zendaya

The young stunner reminds us of a young Beyoncé here with her smooth brunette locks, bronzed cheeks and mocha lipstick.

Amy Adams

amy adams

We rarely see the Oscar-nominated actress with her red hair straightened, but it's a refreshing change from loose curls. Plus, the simple style flows beautifully against her white gown.

Lea Seydoux

lea seydoux

Pay attention, blondes! If you're looking for a hair and makeup combo to wear with a canary yellow dress, you can't go wrong with retro curls and cranberry lips.

Kim Kardashian

kim kardashian

We loved the reality star's effortlessly sexy lob haircut since the day she debuted it on Instagram. The choppy layers create just enough volume and versatility for styling.

Janelle Monae

janelle monae

Clearly, Ms. Monae has the whole hat hair thing all figured out as her thick and kinky curls fall perfectly from underneath the big red brim. And, of course, matte red lips just make it even more divine.

Pregnant Mom Tries To Induce Labor With Awesome 'Thriller' Dance Routine

February 11 was her due date, but her baby boy wasn’t showing any signs of emerging soon. So a pregnant Florida mom decided to try to give her son a little boost -- with an awesome Michael Jackson-inspired dance.

“Someone told me that ‘Thriller’ would induce labor,” Bonnie Northsea, 32, wrote in a Facebook post this past Wednesday, referring to Jackson’s '80s hit (and iconic music video). “Here I am on my due date 40 weeks looking like a fool. I'm so awesome!”

Northsea, who has a 3-year-old son, told Yahoo Parenting that she decided to record herself attempting the “Thriller” dance routine so that she could share the clip with her friends. “I thought it would be something cute to make my friends laugh on Facebook,” she said.

It's only been a few days since Northsea posted the video to Facebook, but her dance routine has already been watched more than a million times. She's also uploaded the video to YouTube, where it's amassed another 130,000 views.

As of Sunday, it doesn't look like Northsea has gone into labor yet -- at least, there's nothing on her Facebook page about it. Still, she has said, the video has been tremendously helpful in an entirely different way.

“My husband is fighting a battle with testicular cancer (just diagnosed a month ago) so it has been difficult emotionally recently,” she wrote on YouTube. “This video really helped as it caused me to laugh over and over again.”

It's Time To Toss Out Your Boring Ponytail Holders And Get Cooler Hair Accessories

When we're having a not-so-good hair day, a ponytail is our saving grace. But after attempting to wrap our locks with black elastic ponytail holders that have gone ratty, we can definitely upgrade to better and more beautiful hair accessories.

During New York Fashion Week Fall 2015, models walked down the runways at Tanya Taylor, Suno, Zimmermann and Cushnie et Ochs sporting anything-but-basic hair accessories. From black leather cord ties with silver hardware to bronze brooches that looked like miniature pieces of art, the pulled-back hairstyles were far from plain thanks to these fashionable adornments.

Check out the cool hair accessories we spotted backstage at New York Fashion Week below. Plus, find out how to recreate the looks with our insider tips.

Tanya Taylor Fall 2015

tanya taylor fall 2015 hair

Get the look: Mist Thickening Hairspray all over hair and blow dry. Then part hair down the center, make a ponytail and secure with an elastic band at the nape of the neck. Finish by wrapping a leather tie around the band spritz hair with Does It All to smooth any flyaways.

Suno Fall 2015

suno fall 2015 hair

Get the look: Before straightening hair section by section, apply Kenra Hot Spray 20 to achieve a sleek finish. Slick hair back from front to back with a comb, using Kenra Platinum Working Spray 14 to maintain hold and keep the hair in place. Then gather strands at the back into a low ponytail, loop the ends upwards and clip into a barrette.

Zimmermann Fall 2015

Get the look: Prep hair with Redken Guts 10 Volume Spray Foam. Then create a severe center part and blow dry hair away from the face with a brush. Section off the bottom of hair two to three inches from the base of nape. Brush the top half of the hair back into a ponytail and secure with an elastic. Take a small section of hair from the bottom of the ponytail and wrap around the elastic. Place the square portion of the brooch around the wrapped pony, and use the pin to thread underneath to create the look of a ribbon. To finish, smooth on Redken Velvet Gelatine 07 – Cushioning Blow Dry Gel and Fashion Work 12 Versatile Hairspray over top of hair.

Cushnie Et Ochs Fall 2015

cushnie et ochs fall 2015

Get the look: Mist hair from the mid lengths to ends with Moroccanoil Root Boost to give texture and soft definition. Create a deep side-part and generously apply Moroccanoil Styling Gel directly to roots while smoothing hair down flat. Comb hair back off the face and tuck behind ears. Use a large, two-inch barrel curling iron to create slight bend at mid-lengths of hair for a loose, piece-y wave. Geometrically arrange bobby pins around back of head from ear-to-ear to accentuate the dual hair textures. Set style with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray for a lacquered finish and extra hold.

Jessica Simpson and husband Eric Johnson clearly know how to turn up the heat.

The couple, who wed in July 2014, celebrated their first Valentine's Day as husband and wife with a little inspiration from "Fifty Shades Of Grey." Why Banana Republic Is Going To Be Your New Favorite Store Come Fall 2015

Saturday night was a big night for Banana Republic. The storied brand showed at New York Fashion Week for the first time, and editors, bloggers and A-listers came out in droves to see what the new creative director and executive vice president of design, Marissa Webb, had put together.

But if anyone was expecting the same safari-inspired looks we've been seeing for years, they would have been sorely disappointed. Instead, what we saw was modern mixes of masculine and feminine design elements -- think oversized boyfriend coats, flared cropped jeans and pastel-colored boxy turtlenecks.

So, why did BR wait until now to have a presentation at NYFW? "I feel like it's the right message right now," Webb explained.

"We're heading in the right direction," she continued. "We're very optimistic about the future -- I don't want to say this is it; this is just beginning, this is our first step and we will keep on evolving and we will keep on growing."

As for the neon dresses and cobalt blue power suits, Webb said, "I could say the inspiration was traveling to Scandinavia, but the true inspiration was about what the new Banana Republic is -- it's the 360 lifestyle, it's the wearable but aspirational clothing."

And Webb's must-have item from Fall 2015: "A great outerwear piece." Well, we will most definitely be hitting our nearest Banana Republic store to pick up one (or multiple) jackets come fall.

Check out some images from Banana Republic's 2015 Fall/Winter presentation below and tell us you don't want every single piece.

These Little Girls Are The Best Thing To Happen To New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week's most exciting runway moment is officially upon us. Contrary to popular belief, it has nothing to do with Kanye West.

On Saturday night, 5-year-old designer (yes, really) Savannah Smith debuted a collection during Small Boutique Fashion Week, a runway show that gives emerging designers and small businesses an opportunity to display their collections to boutiques.

Even more impressive than the fact that a 5-year-old put on a fashion show are the models Savannah had walking the runway. You have to see it yourself to believe it, but let's just say these little ladies rival even our favorite supermodels in the business.

Check out the fierceness below.

The Street Style At New York Fashion Week 2015 Is ... Impractical, To Say The Least

We know that New York Fashion Week brings out the impractical in everyone (after all, it is eight days of aspirational style), but at what point do you forgo exposed ankles and cropped jeans for thermal socks and long johns? It looks like never.

Apparently the fashion crowd doesn't care about little things like the weather, because we've seen some pretty crazy shoes during NYFW. But we would just like to point out two things: Number one, it's February on the East Coast, and number two, it hasn't exactly been a balmy winter thus far.

But so what? The sidewalks might be full of ice and the snow might be coming down, but that hasn't stopped editors and bloggers from wearing high heels and open-toe shoes.

Photographer Melodie Jeng was on the streets to capture all the inappropriate yet amazing footwear -- check it out below.

And even more NYFW street style:

Kanye West Wants To Fix The World Like He Fixed Kim K's Pants

Kanye West unveiled his Adidas Yeezy Season 1 collection along with a new song at New York Fashion Week on Thursday. The rapper told Complex the show was "like the Super Bowl of culture in a way."

Beyond releasing his new Adidas Yeezy Boost sneakers, West told Complex how he also wants to use his creativity to make sure the rest of us look as good as his wife.

The rapper brought up the paparazzi photos in which he's bending down on one knee adjusting Kim Kardashian's pant leg. West likened the photos to his approach to fashion: "That's what I want to do for the world," West told Complex. "I want to get on my knees and fix everyone’s pant leg, if they’ll have me. If they’ll have me make that adjustment."

To all of West's harsh critics in the fashion world, give the guy a break. He just wants to fix your pants.

These Vintage Winter Photos Will Make You Thankful For Your Parka

While a well-cut wool coat has its charms, it isn't often a viable choice for those who experience wet, soggy, slushy winters. If that's you, then you're well-acquainted with the weatherproof parka, a clothing item that may not be stylish, but allows you to get from point A to point B with some degree of comfort.

We weren't always so lucky to have high-tech materials to keep us warm and dry. Here's a look back at winter coats past, which will make you appreciate your puffy coat so much more. For even more, visit Reminisce Magazine, who recently rounded up a collection of vintage winter clothing ads.

Turtleneck Layering Is A Fashion Week Fall 2015 Trend You Can Wear Right Now

$

There's nothing surprising about designing turtlenecks for the fall -- we've seen plenty of them being sent down the runway over the past few days at New York Fashion Week. However, some designers like Mara Hoffman, Tanya Taylor and Jill Stuart are using the cozy clothing item to winterize looks that could easily be worn in warmer weather.

This simple act of layering immediately turns slinky printed dresses, strapless jumpsuits and other spring/summer items into a number of seasonless looks. So, no need to wait until the thermometer hits above 70 degrees to rock your favorite sundress. Just throw on a turtleneck first and you're all set.

We're not kidding -- it's that easy. Check out the looks we've spotted at New York Fashion Week Fall 2015 and start rocking this trend right now.

Love is Greek to Me

$

0
Love has been a challenge. Searching for it, finding it, maintaining it, and enjoying it; all of it. Being a single dad, love with my daughters is easy. I have all the love in the world, unconditionally and in abundance. It's raw and original. Giving and receiving love between my girls is effortless; I don't have to think about it. It just happens. The Greeks call it storge, a natural affection. It's a familial love primarily between parent and child, or old ladies and their cats. Same same.

But it's the other three types of love that the Greeks defined that interest me. I have a significant portion of Greek in me, and it's something I'm proud of. My one and only tattoo is a Chi Rho, an early form of what people call a christogram, bringing together the X (chi) and P (rho) of the Greek word ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ meaning Christ. I'm no model Christian, I haven't been to church in, well, God knows how long. I don't even like being called Christian. My relationship with my God is my business, not the burden of another. I'll spare you that.

So, now that you know I'm not going to knock on your door with a pamphlet about the end of the world and how you can save yourself today, things have been changing for me. My brain has increased in activity lately. Chemical reactions are happening. I can feel the oxytocin running through my veins. I'm smiling more than ever. I'm excitedly nervous but without fear. The balance of life between parenting, working, developing, writing, and where I choose to spend my time has tottered in an unexpected but very welcomed direction.

I met someone, and right before Valentine's Day. Damn it God!

So it made me think of love, and what it means to me. I've spoken of it so loosely, almost carelessly, and I don't want to do that any longer. I want to cannonball into it.

Agape, so say the Greeks, is selfless. It's sacrificial and charitable. This love is delivered whether there is a welcome reception or not. C.S. Lewis, in The Four Loves, used agape as a way to describe a love that is simply for the well-being of another. There are no conditions in loving this way. He believed this was the crème de la crème of all love. Many people, especially Christians, refer to this love as God's love. Personally, I don't know if I'm capable of this kind of love. Even though I still live paycheck to paycheck, behind on bills and taxes, and stress about money often, I have to stop myself and look around. There is an abundance of other very valuable things provided for me that I do not deserve. That could very well be the love of God; I do not know but I'll take it.

Another type of love is called eros, named after the Greek god of sexual desire and attraction. I know, I know, I'm not supposed to worship other gods but now you have an understanding where the word erotica came from. This type of love is sex, attraction and all that madness. The Romans have their own Eros named Cupid, carrying bows and arrows and shooting people all day long and ruining lives. Many of our classical authors have written about eros, that many times it ends up in disappointment. This love is physically selfish and temporarily reciprocated and flipping awesome while it lasts. And that's its problem, eros doesn't last. It needs another love to support it.

Philia, not to be confused with my philophobia condition, is my favorite kind of love. You'd think storge would be but storge is more of a blessing. You can't compare the two. Philia is friendship at its finest. This is the love I share with my friends, my real friends. No one holds grudges here. People that are full of drama, negativity, and unhappiness will have a very difficult time finding this kind of love. This is saying to yourself, when thinking of that person: They are good. I like their character. I can relate and I have no shame to offer or receive with this person. They are always welcome in my home, and I'm free to share my thoughts with them. This love shares all the laughter and tears between unrelated persons. I like this love.

Last night I told her I don't want to date anyone else, only her. As physically stunning as she is, I knew she'd be the one I'd pursue within about 30 minutes of our first date. Never once have I thought about sex with her, how I'll get her in bed, or any of that - I swear to God! We've barely danced around 1st base, and I'm okay with that. The friendship is inevitable, I can feel the philia. We are communicating in a way I've always wanted. She's even said she doesn't want to read my blogs so that she'll get to know me, by me, personally. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to eros my way all across her everything but I'm good where I'm at. The sexiest thing about her isn't her looks anyway, sorry Charlie. It's the fact that she is already happy, and she happens to love the most important thing of all: Herself.

And that's the only love that isn't so Greek to me.

Our favorite stars have been attending the New York Fashion Week shows and providing lots of fabulous (and not so fabulous) front row moments.

We had our own awesome run-in with model Bella Hadid on Sunday at DKNY's Fall 2015 show. Bella is making a name for herself as a top model -- along with her equally beautiful older sister Gigi. The two are daughters of former model and "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Yolanda Foster and practically grew up in the fashion industry, so we couldn't wait to find out how many shows she was taking in this week.

"This is the only one that I planned so far. I dunno, I'm just excited to be here," Hadid told HuffPost Style. "This is my first fashion show sitting and watching -- it's like the most amazing thing ever."

Say what?

"Well, I went to one last year, but it was nothing like this -- it was a lot different," Bella explained. "This is my first fully emerged, real life show."

We think she's the perfect fit for a front row fixture when she's not actually walking in a show, but we love her post-show opinions as well. What did she love from DKNY's fall collection?

"The shoes! I can't even talk about them -- they are killing me softly," Bella told us. "I think they are so amazing. Also the big sweaters, the colors and everything about them."

We'll be keeping our eyes peeled for Bella and Gigi to hit the runway this season. She said that they are both options for shows, but nothing has been confirmed.

Victor Cruz and Joe Jonas Attend Perry Ellis, Fall 2015

On Thursday, Creative Director, Michael Maccari debuted his Fall 2015 collection for Perry Ellis at Metropolitan West to a crowd that included Victor Cruz, Joe Jonas, Frankie Alvarez, and Joshua Sasse. A part of this quintessential American brand for a little over a year now, Maccari has continued to evolve Perry Ellis and menswear in general.

Perry Ellis has always accommodated for an active lifestyle. With the arrival of Maccari, we are beginning to see just how dynamic the sports man can be. In that most often comfort must be sacrificed for style, Maccari's creations are distinct for they are the place where the dapper and well fitted may meet the comforts and ease of sportswear. The line has moved to incorporate eye catching unique fabrics and sophisticated layered looks, but the values that have defined Perry Ellis from the start, have never left but to be a high priority.

It was a very well put together collection overall, but how could we have expected anything less from a man who rushes to give his mom a kiss first thing down the runway at the end of a show.

There's A 'Jungle Book' Inspired Fashion Collection And It's Bananas

$

New York Fashion Week seems like a neverending merry-go-round of trends, so it's always refreshing to see designers digging into their wild, edgy or even sensitive sides to create memorable collections.

That's exactly what London-based designer Bobby Abley did when he debuted at NYFW Sunday. It is a fall line that taps right into childhood nostalgia. "The Jungle Book" was referenced throughout the collection, which included Baloo and Bagheera outerwear and a banana theme that definitely has some phallic vibes. It's all just in time for the upcoming remake of the classic film.

The designer's line also featured some trends that are worth noting. Crop tops came onto the male scene again, while sweatpants were adorned with furry accents and drawstring ankles made a parachute landing over bold sneakers.

Abley's been around the Disney block before -- last summer the designer had models in "The Little Mermaid"-inspired garb which took Ariel, Sebastian and Ursula from under the sea to the London Men's Fashion Week runway.

Abley is quite attuned to the cartoon aesthetic that has a history in the high-fashion-meets-streetwear realm, especially in recent seasons. Jeremy Scott showed off his true colors for Moschino Fall 2014 by making "Spongebob Squarepants" part of the satorial landscape, and even main man Mickey Mouse got a stylish tribute in Marc Jacobs for Spring 2013.

Look at the animated scene of Bobby Abley's show, which had models dancing and posing in some of the most eye-catching outfits of the season.

BONUS: Models have fun with it, too.

On the first day of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, New York, Tadashi Shoji premiered his Fall 2015 collection to a full house beneath the tents at Lincoln Center.

Themes of flight ran rampant through the collection which for most of us in the audience was a much needed break from being aerodynamically challenged by seasonal heavy winter wear.

Layered tulle and fluffy feather accents were an obvious nod to this theme, but secured in metallic navy blues and dark jewel tones, model after model donned a mechanical style that transported us for a second weightless. Things are looking up at the House of Tadashi Shoji for Fall 2015.

Fringe Is One Of The Biggest Trends Filling The New York Fashion Week Runways

Every fashion week we spot trends on the runway that are sure to be huge next season. This week we've seen a lot of turtlenecks, serious '70s vibes and edgy hair accessories. While we are often introduced to new trends, some just keep repeating themselves and refuse to die (hello crop tops). Such is the case with the most ubiquitous fall 2015 fad, fringe.

We saw fringe all over the spring 2015 runways and now it has made an appearance at big shows like Ralph Lauren Polo and Mara Hoffman. Though fringe might seem like a trickier trend to pull off, it works really well on coats, jackets and skirts, as well as on accessories like handbags and shoes. Needless to say, you can wear it just about anywhere.

Check out all the fringe we've spotted at NYFW so far and tell us these looks aren't fringetastic!

These past few days in New York have brought a whole new meaning to "bundle up."

While fearless fashionistas teeter down the icy and salt-filled sidewalks in stilettos and open-toe booties, stylish fellas racing between shows at New York Fashion Week are piling on the layers.

Wool beanies, fur-lined bomber jackets, chunky knit sweaters, wide-brimmed hats, sturdy boots and, of course, fresh sunglasses keep these gents cozy and chic.

Photographer Melodie Jeng snapped some of the best-dressed men on the streets during NYFW who prove you need not sacrifice warmth for style.
