Jaime King is pregnant!

The "Hart of Dixie" star is expecting her second child with husband Kyle Newman, she announced on Instagram.

King, 35, and director Newman, 38, are already the proud parents of 1-year-old James Knight.

King recently opened up about her struggle with infertility to People, revealing that she had five miscarriages, five rounds of in vitro fertilization and 26 rounds of intrauterine insemination before conceiving James naturally.

“I was hiding what I was going through for so long, and I hear about so many women going through what I went through," King, who was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome and endometriosis, said. "If I’m open about it, hopefully it won’t be so taboo to talk about it."

Congrats to the happy family!

This Is Not The Marc Jacobs You're Used To Seeing At Fashion Week

Since it's the last day of New York Fashion Week and Throwback Thursday, it's only right that we reach back into our style archives and pull out something special for y'all!

Behold, Marc Jacobs circa 2006:

marc jacobs

Amazing, right? This is definitely not the health-buff Marc we all know and love today. I snapped this picture of the fashion designer nine years ago, right before the Heatherette Fall 2006 show. I was totally star struck, but he was gracious enough to let me take the photo. Plus, I secretly took a picture of his friend showing his support (or obsession) for Marc with "MJ" shaved into the side of his head.

In case you were wondering what Marc looks like now -- here he is in September 2014 at his Marc by Marc Jacobs show. #MindBlown

After A Simple Haircut, Homeless Remind Us Why Judging Others Is Just Plain Wrong

Updated: Feb. 19, 2015 10:40 p.m. EST

Sometimes, it's all too easy to judge people based on their appearances.

Tyler Bridges knows this, and he used it as a springboard for "What's The Difference," a video he helped publish last month with the Union Rescue Mission in Los Angeles.

Assisted by hairstylist Tim Doma, Bridges and a crew of filmmakers offered haircuts to men who could use a little trim -- and proved there isn't much that separates the homeless from everyone else.

"There are over 600,000 people experiencing homelessness in the United States," a text overlay at the beginning of the video reads. "What's the difference between you and them?"

A photo posted by Tyler Bridges (@ty_bridges) on

One of the men who received a haircut.

"The underlying message [of the video] is that we make judgments about people really quickly and often let the differences we see define the way we interact with people," Bridges explained to The Huffington Post in an email. "We wanted to show people that they really aren't all that different - that they're just like you and me."

He said he hoped the video would help spark conversation about homelessness and inspire people to figure out "how to help in the best way possible," which may require more work than just "more donations."

"The guys in this video have been through some rough stuff and made some poor choices," he added, "but the day we did haircuts was about inviting them in for some basic care to show them that we aren't worried about the bad choices they have made or how they look. It was about breaking down some barriers and showing them some love."

The video ends by encouraging viewers to "get involved with your local shelter or mission," then points to a directory for rescue missions across the country.

Kim Jong Un Debuts Sculptured New Haircut And Trimmed Eyebrows

North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, already known for his unique hairdo, has updated his look.

Kim's new hairstyle remains cropped on the sides and heavy on top, but he appears to have grown his hair out and had it sculpted into a trapezoidal shape. And, for good measure, it seems as if he's had his eyebrows trimmed:

Here's a side-by-side comparison of Kim's new look with an image taken a year ago:

Some on Twitter have pointed out that Kim's new hairstyle looks a lot like Pauly D's from "Jersey Shore," which led the DJ to retweet this comparison:

CNN called it a "power haircut." The New York Daily News described it as "barbarous." New York magazine said it was "ambitious." And Vox had a list of 29 questions about the hair.

While much ado is being made over the 'do, it's really just a more sculpted version of a look Kim sported for a period of time last spring, right down to the eyebrows:

There's A Hack To Hanging Sweaters So They Don't Stretch Out

0

The key to an amazing closet is all in how you hang -- not only on the right hangers, but also in the right, hack-tastic way.

Allow us to explain: You know how when you hang a sweater, it tends to stretch under its own weight and get those little bumps in the shoulders?

Well, there's a hack for that. Watch, be amazed, and never ruin a sweater again.

STEP 1: Fold your sweater in half.

STEP 2: Place the hanger hook in the armpit, and fold the waist and sleeves over the hanger.

STEP 3: Ta da! A stretch-free hang (and some serious sweater origami).

Keep in mind that there's also a chance your sweater might be better off folded if it stretches out on a hanger. Organizing guru Marie Kondo of KonMari Method fame suggests that you fold sweaters into long rectangular shapes so they can vertically stand in a drawer.

Darting among hawkers, vendors, hoarders and careening motorcyclists, part of the over 16 million inhabitants of Nigeria's largest city, Lagos, Morin O. (Maureen Obaweya) squeezes her car into the Lekki market. According to a Babson College study, she is among the over 126 million women entrepreneurs running businesses in over 70 countries worldwide. The National Women's Business Council estimates there are over 8 million women-owned businesses in the United States. Master carver, Zacchaeus is not exactly a household name in Nigeria or the U.S. For over 50 years, his small primitive traditional thorn wood figures depicting Nigerian village life, populate many diplomats' homes around the world. Shade Bembatoum-Young founder/co-ordinator of ASSEED, (African Sustainable Small Enterprise Export Development), Artisans Business Network credits Maureen for helping revive his career. "His works along with other artists were included in exhibitions, she organized which attracted the country's elite and re-introduced his works to African art collectors." An astute business woman Maureen is passionate about what she does. "She has an eye for great work and uses the marketing and financial resources of her companies to promote artistic projects she believes in."

For years, Femi, her husband pushed her to put her promotional and creative skills into her own line of accessories. In October 2010, with Shade's support, Maureen attended The Vital Voices Women Artisan Entrepreneurs Program in Ghana. Introduced in 2007 by Mary Daley Yerrick, co-founder and Chairman Emeritus of Vital Voices Global Partnership (www.vitalvoices.org), it offered thousands of women leaders in the arts and crafts sector the knowledge, tools and ongoing support to build a small business into a profitable enterprise. Maureen and 20 other women entrepreneurs, selected from all over Africa, undertook an inten-sive business management program with a strong emphasis on accessing new markets and lead-ership training. "The selection process was very arduous ... but the workshop gave me the confidence to start my own line of leather goods," Maureen said in a recent interview.

Zanna Roberts Rassi, Senior Fashion Editor of Marie Claire Magazine, states "The quality and design of her creations are exceptional." Nigerian Nollywood celebrities Ufuoma McDermott, Monalisa Chinda, Joke Silva and many others, sport her brand."She brings a developing world contemporary artistic sensibility to the great hand crafts and designs that come from native market places", states Neslihan Danisman, of the Angora Group and consultant to Marc Jacobs. Next year Maureen plans to introduce men's leather accessories and goods from her latest collection to the North American market. Entrepreneurs like Morin demonstrate success to their local communities. Celena Green, Morin's workshop leader and Vital Voices Director of Africa sees her business growth not just creating jobs locally, but offering a new role model and a better quality of life.

Wen Zhou, 41, the CEO/Co-Founder built the Philip Lim line (31Phillip.com) into a multi-million dollar global brand in less than 10 years. "It's not easy building a market for your clothing products catering to the global citizen of all ages," she said in a recent interview at her 5,800 ft Great Jones store, located in the NoHo area of lower Manhattan.

Born in the small town of Ningbo, China, Wen came to the United States at the age of 12 not speaking a word of English. She spent her later childhood living in Manhattan's Lower East-side Water Street projects. "For years, my parents, grandparents, sister and I worked in garment sweatshops at 54 Canal St., to put food on the table and support the family," she said. "I grew up on the noises of a sewing machines... the sound became comforting."

After working full-time selling fabrics, then building her own business from scratch along with taking night classes at The Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T), Wen met Philip Lim in Paris in 2004. Wen began a lasting friendship and partnership which today has led to the creation of 16 stores in 5 countries and millions in sales. But she cautions designers that breaking into the U.S market is an extremely tough challenge. "You must have an exciting business partner, product manager, PR person and CFO," she said.

Proverbs Creations is a small boutique selling hand crafted women accessories including necklaces and jewelry in Lagos city center. Adebukola Adenuga mother of a teenage daughter credits Maureen for starting her own business 15 years ago. "We met at the Redeemed Christian Church of God while I was employed as a hat maker at John 3v3 Hats," she said.

Adebukola assembled a team of artisans to produce exciting new designs, starting at flea markets, church fairs, and day long exhibitions in four-star hotels in downtown Lagos. "Maureen opened a lot of doors for us," she said, "She made me believe in myself." With two new stores in the planning stage for other major cities in Nigeria, she hopes to emulate her friend and mentor. "This is just another example of Morin sharing knowledge through her own networks," states Celena of Vital Voices. "Women 'PAY IT FORWARD' and create opportunities for others."

Maureen spends a lot of time in prayer and meditation. "It guides me in making the tough decisions of straddling both the entrepreneurial and artistic worlds." Growing up in Northern Nigeria, the first of seven children, she studied pharmacy at Ahmadu Bello University but was always passionate about the arts from a very early age.

While heading to Lekki Market, mystic artists daily flood their metal stalls with wooden and ivory carvings. But, it's the multi colored wooden and coral handmade jewelry that capture Maureen's eye. "Everyday my visits are touched by the divine creativity of these talented people," she continued. "My job is to bring their artistic touch to my leather accessories to be enjoyed by everyone including the American market place.

This Oscar Dress Infographic Makes Hollywood's Diversity Problem Painfully Obvious

0
0
For people who love fashion, there are few events more exciting than the Oscars. Hollywood's most glamorous night of the year guarantees the most epic red carpet moments.

So when an infographic came out last year showing the dresses worn by every Best Actress winner since 1929, it was exciting to say the least. Big Group, the company that created the infographic, took it one step further. The company added more dresses, plus an interactive element, letting viewers filter by actress, decade, age, designer and color.

Looking closer, it's obvious that the infographic is missing something. While the dresses appear in myriad colors, the actresses are just one: white.

Big Group described its selection criteria on its website: "We selected actresses that had won Best Actress Oscar, appeared at least 7 times at the awards and over a period spanning decades. There are some actresses who couldn't quite make the cut due to time and budget (sorry, Sandra Bullock) but I hope to add more at a later date."

Those strict guidelines, of course, make it nearly impossible for any women of color to be included. Halle Berry, who won Best Actress for her role in "Monster's Ball" in 2002 has attended the 68th, 70th, 74th, 75th, 77th, 81st, 83rd and 85th Academy Awards, making a total of eight shows spanning from the '90s to today.

Whoopi Goldberg, who has been a Best Actress nominee and a Best Supporting Actress winner for her role in "Ghost," hosted the ceremony four times. Lupita Nyong'o nabbed the Best Supporting Actress award for "12 Years A Slave" in 2014 and Penelope Cruz took home the same award for "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" in 2009. If they did something so small as to include Best Actress nominees or Best Supporting Actress winners, the infographic would be (a bit) more diverse.

The fact that white women make up the entire list speaks to the broader issue of diversity in Hollywood. The 2015 Oscars will be the least diverse ceremony since 1998, meaning it's the first time in two decades that not at least one black, Hispanic, Latino, Asian or Iranian actor has been nominated in any of the four acting categories. Additionally, not a single female director, cinematographer or screenwriter is nominated.

This infographic not only reminds audiences about Hollywood's diversity problem, but makes it impossible to ignore. While only a select few have the power to decide who does and does not get nominated, it is necessary for everyone to acknowledge talent regardless of color.

HuffPost Style reached out to Big Group for comment and will update accordingly.

Emma Watson Dating Prince Harry Is The Best Piece Of Fanfic We've Read Today

0

England's Prince Harry (the handsome redhead about to become fifth in line to the throne once his sister-in-law Kate Middleton gives birth to her second child) has apparently found love with everyone's favorite "Harry Potter" star-turned-UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, Emma Watson.

This wonderful piece of fan fiction comes from Australia's Women's Day, who has dreamt up a universe where the two gorgeous Brits are having "secret dates with each other and are getting to know each other quite well."

The tabloid has crafted a tale in which the prince had a mutual friend set him up with the 24-year-old actress, and followed up with an email that said he would “like to get to know her." While the pair went on a group date with 12 other pals they apparently "hit it off," and now Harry is just "smitten."

As far as fairytales go, we'd love nothing more than for this one come true, however, we're pretty certain we're going to have to settle for watching Watson in the live-action version of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast," because this pairing only exists in your dreams.

Hacked

0
A few days ago my daughter's Instagram account was hacked and sold to a different owner in less than 15 minutes!

A year and half of her work was erased completely.

Crying, heartbroken screams on the verge of a nervous breakdown, an emotional roller coaster swept the whole household as we witnessed her trying to log into her account unsuccessfully. A few minutes later she was able to login.  A momentary sense of relief, only to see that pages were erased one by one until she was blocked completely from her own account and could not log in at all.  "No, no, I have nothing, nothing" she cried falling apart. We did our best not to breakdown with her and instead, tried to offer her support.

Phone calls, emails and messages arrived at a daunting pace from her followers who didn't understand what was going on. Followers who became friends from all over the country and the world, from New York to California, Canada, the U.K. and Australia, all contacted her. A follower-friend from Australia gave her his personal password so that she could enter Instagram under his name to see what was posted on her own account, since she was blocked from it. I was amazed by this humane and generous gesture. Followers posted angry comments while pleading with the new account owner to "Give Mae her account back!". In the midst of this crisis, rays of caring and kindness washed over her cyber-world based in friendships that were created through bonding over similar frustrations, goals and areas of interest.

I feel like a dinosaur when it comes to all of this cyber mumbo-jumbo. It is quite embarrassing to be like this when you have a 15-year-old daughter who utilized it to build a name for herself, and dare I say, a "career" out of it.  In the past year and a half, my daughter -- Mae, spent countless hours building her Instagram account while posting all original material! She shared her photography, poetry, journal entries and different style self help tips.

Within a few months, she gained 47K followers!!! Amazon approached her and offered to publish a compilation of her poetry, which is now sold on Amazon as a soft-cover and an ebook. She landed 6 part-time jobs as a Live Music and Fashion Photographer and even writes concert reviews.

It is all quite amazing to me. What did I do at her age? School, friends, school, some hobbies and dreamt of bigger things. With focus, talent and dedication she is already achieving these big things at the age of 15!

It was absolutely devastating to watch how she lost it all within minutes. As a mother you want to protect your children but what could a dinosaur like me offer in such a crisis?

"Behind every hacker there is a person with feelings and weaknesses," I told her.  "Let's try to reach those guilty feelings and work them to your advantage".  Naive? Yes! But we worked together while phrasing every message in order to manipulate the new owner to "do the right thing."  We sent messages back and forth to the new account owner and found out that the reason Mae was targeted was because the hacker's client wanted Mae's followers and the attention her account was getting to themselves. Through this conversation, we obtained the name of an online forum where the anonymous transaction took place between the hacker and the client. The new owner changed the username slightly and freed the original username to Mae. We begged them to direct Mae's followers to the new account Mae managed to create quickly, so that all of her dedicated followers could find her again.

They agreed to it but kept it for not even 2 minutes. Less than 24 hours later, the owner realized that although the account still had over 32K followers, they were not blind followers, they were loyal and would look for Mae. They finally offered Mae to buy her account back! The sad thing is, that the will to give up Mae's account was so that they could afford to pay the hacker for a new account with double the followers.

Much work awaits Mae to recreate the body of work that existed in her old Instagram account. All of the genuine comments she received before this incident, thanking her for her advice and inspiration, are all lost in cyber space forever. In spite of this loss, Mae had the chance to discover true friends and how much appreciation and love she is surrounded by.  This dinosaur, on the other hand, is not done fighting. I placed a complaint to the NY District Attorney/Cyber Crimes unit the very next day. These are complicated crimes to solve and I don't have high hopes, but I personally feel that it is our duty as citizens to do whatever we can to ensure that justice prevails.
I wonder though if this could have happened to some big-name Instagram accounts? Are they backed up? And if they are, how come the not-so-big-ones like Mae's account are not backed up? And the most important question: What kind of a 'cyber-parent' is Instagram if it doesn't protect it's 'cyber-children'? Just for the record we placed a request to Instagram's help center right away and to this day it wasn't answered.

As for the hacker and the hacker's customer, they were once children who were not taught right from wrong and therefore steal from others. This dinosaur is a mother that calls the attention of other parents to understand how important their job is in making this world a better place for all of us, especially in this new age of social media.

French women have always seemed a breed distinct; exemplary models of how to live a life lead enlightened to perfect style, food, fun and fair. Maybe you've met her? A woman so effortlessly drawing in aura, she need not hardly try too much in order to steal a gaze.

In her Fall 2015 collection, Pamella Roland taught us a bit about this innate seduction. It was the signature styled Brigitte Bardot bouffants that first signaled Roland was this season inspired by 1970s Paris. The cut of the sleeves, the glimpses of tweed and simple suggestions of skin revealed the uncomplicated glamour and sexy sophistication that is inherent within a French girl's flair. Of rich organza and hand-cut embellishments, Roland presented a full line of pant suits, cocktail dresses, gowns and ended with a finale wedding dress, fit with a feathered overcoat.

Attendees that included Miss Jay Alexander, Nigel Barker, Jay Manuel, DJ Helena, model Julie Henderson, and Miriam and Olivia Nervo, sat in celebration of Roland's line that perfectly bottled the engaging allure of Parisian poise.

Who Said Sportswear Is Just for the Gym?

0
0
Just in time for the bleak middle of winter blues, the union of style and fitness has resulted in a new hybrid trend that can be seen anywhere from the gym to the runway.

Nowhere is this more apparent than Nike's ad campaign with model Karlie Kloss. They have officially branded their sportswear as chic and fashionable, setting off a chain reaction that culminated in the popularization of what is being described as ath-lesiure wear. Kloss primarily differs from the brands usual association with all-star athletes in that she isn't one, allowing her to act as a link between sport and fashion. And it doesn't hurt that top model Kloss is gracing this month's cover of Vogue with BFF Taylor Swift.

When looking at the beautiful and inspiring ads, and even Kloss's own Instagram feed (reaching 2 million followers), it's easy to get excited about going to the gym, and staying in the same clothes for hours after.

2015-02-20-ScreenShot20150107at6.56.51PM.png
(Photos from Kloss's Instagram)

In 2013, designer Tom Ford told Style Magazine that, "Comfort for me is knowing I look great, and if I have to suffer in a corset for four hours to look amazing, than that's comfort." Now, it's safe to say that Ford's thoughts on comfort are far from universal. Trendsetters across the globe have not only confirmed that you can look great and be comfortable, but are encouraging it.

Nike isn't the first brand to get the fashion crowd excited about exercise, comfort, and fashionable sportswear. British designer Stella McCartney, who first collaborated with Adidas in 2004, launched a stylish athletic line that aimed to offer women clothing in which they could exercise in and feel confident about their looks. Apart from her ultra-chic line for Adidas, McCartney is refreshing it by launching a new and more affordable line with them called StellaSport, aimed at a younger audience. "It takes the Stella girl from the campus to the club and finds a link to sport and technology without sacrificing style," McCartney told Women's Wear Daily.

This new trend, ath-lesiure, has gone beyond the major brands that have largely monopolized the athletic gear market, and stormed the runways. Alexander Wang and Victoria Beckham, among other big name designers, recently showcased these looks on the catwalk. Designers are taking the same ideas and principles behind sportswear, being that they comfortably move with the body no matter what, and applying it to their collections.

So, does this mean dreams do come true, and we can all finally wear sweatpants all the time?

Ath-leisure wear goes beyond fashion, and into lifestyle. Whether a new sports bra or leggings gets you excited about going to the gym, or you're experiencing a newfound confidence in your comfortable attire, the positive perks of fashion meeting fitness are many.

Pamella Roland Brings the Glamour of Paris to NYFW and Hopes for More of the Mayors Participation

Usually when one attends a runway show, there is hope to be wowed throughout the entirety of the presentation.

New York fashion designer Pamella Roland showed her A/W '15 collection during NYFW on Monday afternoon to a packed house of fashions elite and lucky for them, the collection indeed wowed, but it was one very particular ivory lurex fils-coupe bridal gown paired with feather jacket that had jaws dropping.

The collection, inspired by a recent trip to Paris was reminiscent of a 70's glam party in the heart of the French city with a handful of intricate embroidery, slinky gowns and over the knee suede boots--the perfect complements to those tall glasses of champagne and bright disco lights.

With dresses and separates constructed to invoke the seductive glamour portrayed in Alicia Drake's "The Beautiful Fall" Roland's collection surprisingly felt appropriate for the current NYC winter--if not inspiring many to search out floral and paisley prints, burgundy for a night out on the town and an ivory feather jacket for the upcoming nuptials because, why not?

Dropping backstage to chat with the designer while sifting through a gaggle of energetic models as a notable Ted Gibson crafted Bridget Bardot hairstyles and the Artistry perfected those smoky eyes, we asked Roland a few pointed questions about her current work.

Q: Would you talk a little about the inspiration behind this collection?
A: Well, inspiration is early 70s in Paris when the models and the fashion designers and all the photographers really started getting everything going. The glamour of fashion really started back in the early 70s so we studied a lot of the things women were wearing back then and even the makeup. The makeup and hair is really Bridget Bardot - that era. Even looking back at YSL with the smoking jacket - we're opening up with a tuxedo. We are really focusing on the sexy glamour of that time and hopefully that shows in the collection.

Q: What has been your constant source for ideas as a designer?
A: I travel a lot, that's why often you can see various influences from all over the world in my work. I love art - I'm on the board of the Whitney - and so it seems to be that (art and travel) they always go together. I was recently in Paris with my daughter and really inspired by the surroundings. I always feel ahead of my time in regards to my collections and what I want to share the next season. I don't really have to sit down and think about it - as I travel I kind of go, "oh, I'm seeing this, I'm feeling this."

Q: How do you feel about Mayor De Blasio's support and interest in the city's fashion industry - how do you see it benefitting New York Fashion Week in particular?
A: First of all, it's going to get us more attention and that's always great! I think fashion has grown so much, especially with social media. The Mayors support is a fantastic contribution and it's going to have a huge impact on all of us. It would also be wonderful to see the Mayor and the first lady at some shows in the future!

Q: What do you see to be one of the great accomplishments in the fashion industry in the last few years?
Q: I think one of the things that we have all done or worked very hard towards in the fashion industry is with our models. We don't want the model who are so skinny and who look like their being starved. I think we've all concentrated our efforts to see healthier looking women on the runway. I think there are a lot of ways that the fashion industry could be strengthened, but there's so much to discuss that we'll need a whole new interview!

Shades of Grey Are Also in the Air in Paris

Shades of Grey are also in the air in Paris. Not in beds but in stores, as the shades of grey are the number one happening fashion color for pre spring for women and for men.

The new way to wear grey is to mix it with all the various shades of grey in wool or leather. The grey outfit is best mixed with small textured black and white dots, prints or English style tweeds.

I have found that Paris shopping is best all year long in the first week of February. Why ? Because after the month long January sales are over, everything from last Fall that is left in the best shops are on sale at 70 percent off. You can practically name your price in some exclusive stores. This includes the most expensive couture, fur coats and jewelry as stores must clear everything out for spring.

A French woman has a special look, sexy and confident in whatever mix she creates in her closet.
Grey clothing however is eternal and a perfect investment. Grey can be worn every month including summer when the grey jean now outshines the blue jean in newness and Frenchness.

Grey is also mixed with lime green, banana green and grass green as accents.

The black "Kiss My Whips Bootie" is the one must buy shoe for 2015, worn even with gowns long pleated chiffon skirts and dresses. Zippers and metal make the statement.

Paris in Feb is also a month of grey skies to match the grey buildings and the grey river Seine.

Notre Dame keeps the Christmas decor up until the end of Jan so instead of going to the Caribbean and getting Chicken virus from Mosquitos, plan a winter vacation to Paris where the only thing to bite you is your wallet.

How The Craziest Nail Art At New York Fashion Week Comes To Life

During New York Fashion Week, CND Nails co-founder and style director Jan Arnold had one request: that the models keep their hands out of their pockets. Although nails are usually obscured by the clothes themselves, Arnold and her team believe that hands are meant to be seen on the runway.

CND created custom nail looks this week for Opening Ceremony, Libertine and The Blonds. In the past, CND has molded small grenades onto fingernails and they've made tips into melted drops of candle wax.

This season, CND turned up the heat. Artists decoupaged while photo collages onto nails at Opening Ceremony, and used materials including gold chains and shrapnel metal at Libertine and The Blonds. Arnold said that the nail designs took about 500 hours to create for each designer.

HuffPost Style got a behind-the-scenes look at the meticulous process behind CND's most outrageous nails. Watch the video above and tell us your favorite look in the comments below.
