The Life Of A Male Model Isn't As Glamorous As You Might Think

0
0
Of the many misconceptions about the fashion industry, perhaps one of the most overlooked is the myth that most male models live a life of luxury. The assumed "glamour" associated with working in fashion typically centers around lavish parties and snagging a coveted seat at Fashion Week.

Thanks to "Unglamorous," a new documentary by Fusion, some light is being shed on the gritty, exhausting and less-than-luxurious reality facing many aspiring male models.

Moving to New York is the usual choice for those looking to start a career, but models are often met with long days of running around to castings and debt owed to their agencies for covering initial living expenses. In fact, most don't make any money of their own until that debt is paid off.

Even more recognizable faces like Malik Lindo-Ireland, who has starred in campaigns for Abercrombie & Fitch and Hugo Boss, are not necessarily living "the life," as proven by a visit to the 250 square-foot apartment that he shares with a roommate.

Take a look at the video above, and to see the entire series, head to Fusion.

Angelina Jolie And Daughter Shiloh Visit Turkey For World Refugee Day

Since 2001, Angelina Jolie has carried out more than 40 humanitarian missions in her role as UN High Commissioner for Refugees Goodwill Ambassador, and this past weekend she continued her efforts with her 9-year-old daughter Shiloh Jolie-Pitt by her side.

On Saturday, the 40-year-old actress and her daughter traveled to Turkey in honor of World Refugee Day, where they spent time touring a Syrian and Iraqi refugee camp in the southeastern province of Mardin.

In addition to their tour, the actress also met with UN officials, as well as Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, whom she thanked for his generosity towards the Syrian and Iraqis refugees. Jolie also voiced her concerns in an impassioned speech:

"We are here for a simple reason: This region is at the epicenter of a global crisis. Nearly 60 million people are displaced from their homes. That is one in every 122 people on our planet. Our world has never been richer or healthier or more advanced. Yet never before have so many people been dispossessed and stripped of their basic human rights," she said. "We should call this what it is: not just a 'refugee crisis,' but a crisis of global security and governance, that is manifesting itself in the worst refugee crisis ever recorded – and a time of mass displacement."

She added, "I plead to the international community and leaders of the world to recognize what this moment in mass human displacement means. This is not just another day. This World Refuge Day marks some frightening truths about our inability to manage international crisis – about our inability to broker peace and find lasting solutions."

What The Heck Is Tortoiseshell Hair, And How Do You Get It?

We can easily spot celebs like Gisele Bündchen, Jessica Alba and Sofia Vergara on the red carpet by their "bronde" hair -- strands that are the perfect combination of golden blondes, caramels, chestnuts and chocolates, together creating a color known as ecaille, or tortoiseshell hair.

Ecaille is a great way to warm up and add dimension to hair, according to L'Oréal Paris celebrity hair colorist Kari Hill. "Building off the ombré and sombré trends of the last few years, the tortoiseshell look essentially blends both of these techniques into one. The trick to achieving the perfect tortoiseshell effect is to tie together the more bold and extreme look of ombré and marry it with a darker root, while still taking a cue from the sombré look and remaining soft and subtle throughout," Hill says.

This new hair color trend incorporates layering beautiful tones of color so that the hair looks natural. "Warm shades like golden caramel, chestnut and chocolate are tones you're likely to see in this technique, all of which work well with women who have a warm brunette or golden blonde base," she says.

Tortoiseshell hair also lends itself well to different levels of commitment. Having noticeable roots is a distinguished part of this style, so it requires little touch-up, Hill says. "If women don't want to keep up with the hair's natural re-growth, a benefit of this look is that the hair can grow into a beautiful, non-committed beachy-ombré as it looks naturally sun-kissed."

To maintain tortoiseshell hair, Hill urges clients to shampoo hair every other day at most. But if you absolutely must wash every day, it's essential to use color-preserving shampoos and conditioners that are gentle and sulfate-free, which help to prolong the ecaille. She recommends L'Oréal Paris Color Vibrancy Dual Protect Spray and Instant Nourishing Treatment because they contain UV filters and anti-oxidants that help restore moisture and shine.

Hill's final word of advice for anyone considering tortoiseshell hair: a picture speaks volumes. "When women discuss this look with their colorist, I suggest bringing in a photo of the desired look to provide clear communication between colorist and client," she says. "A photo also lets the colorist know how much commitment a woman wants to give the ecaille look so the colorist can dictate the subtly or boldness of the application."

Britney Spears And Charlie Ebersol Reportedly Split After 8 Months Of Dating

Britney Spears is single, according to Us Weekly.

The magazine reports that the singer and boyfriend Charlie Ebersol have split. The two started dating in October 2014.

No word on what went down between the two, but Us Weekly points out that Spears has already deleted all photos of Ebersol, who is the son of "Saturday Night Live" co-creator Dick Ebersol, from her Instagram account, though it seems she hasn't gotten around to it on Twitter just yet.

In addition to erasing him from her social media, it seems like the 33-year-old singer might be throwing a bit of shade her ex's way as well. On Sunday, Spears posed in a bikini next to a male friend and she captioned the photo, "So nice to be home! Nothing like Louisiana boys."

The Huffington Post has reached out to Spears' rep for comment.

It's hard to believe that spring is over and summer days are here. And by now you've probably got your favorite summer dresses and sandals on high rotation. The only thing that might really rain on your parade -- besides actual rain -- is not having a pedicure, or rocking a pedicure that has seen better days.

Unsightly toes are never a good look. But let's be honest, pedicures require both time and money. So, when you're lacking one or both of those things, you'll want to slip into a pair of sandals, mules or flats that are closed-toed or nearly closed. Those silhouettes will keep your chipped pedi under wraps but still allow your feet to feel the summer breeze.

Check out the cute pairs we've rounded up below and let us know how you step out in style between pedicures.

Closed-Toed Summer Shoes

35 Items In Your Wardrobe is All You Need: 7 Steps

0
0
My interpretation of a "minimalist wardrobe" was recently challenged when my girlfriend Jenn Mapp told me about her 35 items. I have known her for years (pre toddler and infant, pre house), and have always thought of her as a "fashionista" in the best sense of the word. I rarely saw her wear the same outfit twice, she always looked fabulous, and she accessorizes better than anyone else. Yet, she decided to simplify her closet (thus her life), and pare it down to 35 items. And she loves the result - not just in her closet. Intrigued? Read on... After all, we all know of Steve Jobs' jeans and black turtleneck uniform. President Obama has discussed owning shirts of just a few colors, to simplify his mornings. And most business men in effect have their own uniform (suit and shirt). Perhaps they are on to something... I may just have to try this myself...

• AP: What made you decide to reduce your wardrobe to 35 items?

• JM: For most of life shopping was my favorite pastime. Now I have a toddler and an infant, a full time job and own a small (but charming!) house. This translates to no time, minimal storage and considerably less discretionary income. Earlier this spring, while searching Pinterest for closet organization tips, I discovered several boards dedicated to the idea of a minimalist wardrobe. The notion of turning my massive, unmanageable closet into a curated collection of seasonal apparel just felt right. Within a few days I ruthlessly edited my clothes down to 35 items and consigned, donated or stored the rest. My life has improved immeasurably.

• AP: What are your 35 items? Does this include accessories, shoes, lingerie - everything?

• JM: I define "35 items" as the apparel hanging in my closet -- business casual separates worn mostly to work. My 35 items do not include accessories because these are my signature outfit makers and without them this would not be a plausible fashion experiment - for me. Workout clothes, lingerie and sleep items do not count. However, my entire fashion collection now fits in one side of an Ikea Pax wardrobe. This makes me very proud.

• AP: How has your life changed since undergoing this fashion experiment?

• JM: In so many ways! Obviously I've saved money and time but I'm also happier and more present. You don't realize how much energy it takes to manage possessions. Most tangibly, my fashion experiment motivated me to start a blog. I assumed #jennmapp would be a fashion blog cataloging multiple outfits created from 35 items but I've found that I am more inspired by the psychology of the process. Curbing the impulse to shop parallels instinctive behavior in every aspect of my life. My 3 year old son AJ has emerged as a noteworthy muse.

• AP: Any tips on how others could reduce their wardrobes?

• JM: Sure, how about a random numbered list? The internet loves a list.

1. Purchase or borrow an inexpensive rolling rack.

2. Assemble your entire wardrobe in one place.

3. Automatically move formal or cocktail attire, out of season clothes, ill-fitting or damaged items to the rolling rack.

4. Consider every item that remains. These will make up your current season collection. If you love it, you will know in one second - leave it in your closet. If you experience any hesitation towards an item, put it on the rolling rack.

5. Ruthlessly edit until you are down to a collection that feels right. You will need an adequate assortment of tops, bottoms and outwear. Consider your lifestyle. Depending on the size of your wardrobe, you may require several rounds of edits.

6. Store, repair, consign or donate the rest. Just do it.

7. Repeat every three - four months, filling in gaps as needed.

As I listen to Jenn in awe, she concludes: "You only think you need hundreds of items. You don't! I guarantee you only wear 30 - 50 pieces as it is. Closet reduction is an excellent exercise in defining your value system. If you read this and are inspired to act, you are ready. Take the plunge. If the idea doesn't resonate at all or seems inconceivable, well someone has to keep the economy afloat, right?"

Right!

Pregnant Kim Kardashian Steps Out With A Plunging Neckline

Kim Kardashian doesn't let something like pregnancy interfere with her personal style.

The 34-year-old reality star, who just revealed she's expecting a baby boy with husband Kanye West, made quite the statement as she arrived at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York on Monday.

Photographers snapped photos of Kardashian, who was busy taking a phone call -- but it was her clothes that did all the talking. The "Selfish" author stunned in a ultra-low-cut nude bodysuit paired with high-waisted pants and peep toe booties, making everyone in the airport feel simultaneously over- and underdressed.

Welp, Skinny Jeans Can Cause Severe Nerve Damage

0
0
LONDON (AP) — Attention wearers of skinny jeans: don't squat — at least not for long.

Doctors in Australia report that a 35-year-old woman was hospitalized for four days after experiencing muscle damage, swelling, and nerve blockages in her legs after squatting for several hours while wearing tight-fitting denims. "We were surprised that this patient had such severe damage to her nerves and muscles," said Dr. Thomas Kimber of the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia, in an email.

The patient, who was not identified, spent most of the previous day helping someone move, squatting for long periods while emptying cupboards. Clad in skinny jeans, the woman said they felt increasingly tight and her feet were numb as she walked home, making her trip and fall. Unable to get up, she spent several hours stranded outside before getting to the hospital. Kimber and colleagues published a report about the case online Monday in the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry.

Kimber said tight jeans have previously been reported to cause nerve lesions in the groin but not the kind of nerve problems in the lower leg and severe muscle damage they saw. He said squatting compressed the nerves in the lower leg, reducing the blood supply to the calf muscles and that the skinny jeans worsened the problem.

After being treated for four days — and having her jeans cut off — the woman still had some weakness in her legs but walked out of the hospital and later recovered fully. Kimber doesn't know if the woman still wears skinny jeans but warned her against the dangers of squatting in them.

"I think it's the non-stretchy nature of jeans that might be the problem," Kimber said, noting that tight pants with more elasticity wouldn't be as dangerous since they wouldn't squeeze nerves and muscles. He doesn't wear skinny jeans himself, but not because of the medical risks: "I'm too old to get away with them!"

Harry Styles Calls Out The Guy Who 'Stole' His Girlfriend As A Teen

0

They say time heals all wounds, but Harry Styles is apparently still a little sore about having his girlfriend "stolen" from him when he was a teenager.

While performing a show in Oslo, Norway on Friday, the 21-year-old One Direction singer opened up to the crowd about how his girlfriend left him for another guy when he was 14. It turned out there was actually point to the story other than just the fact his ex might be having some small pangs of regret right now.

"I have a friend from school in the audience tonight called Jack Robinson, he’s over here,” Styles told the audience, before telling his friend to identify himself to the crowd.

“I’m going to tell you a quick little story before we do the next song. When I was about 14-years-old, Jack Robinson stole my girlfriend,"Styles said, while trying to stifle his laughter. "So if he is still there at the end of the show, feel free, little kicks, little digs on the way out. Jack Robinson, love you, sir.”

Styles seemed pretty pleased with himself for getting the last word in on his pal, while one of the singer's bandmates can be heard saying, "Jesus Christ, Jack, that's no way to treat your friends."

The Truth About Fat Sex

0
0
"No man will ever love you," proclaimed my grandmother in her self-assessed infinite wisdom. I was nine or ten -- old enough to know exactly what she was talking about, and young enough that I believed her. Thirty-five years later, in the kind of therapy they do for veterans of war, I understood that she wasn't entirely right. But, she wasn't entirely wrong. Of course, as any therapy veteran would know, right or wrong, it was not about a man's love for me, but "my love for myself." I'll get right on that.

It took me years -- years -- to say the word fat. It took what felt like an entire brain overhaul to say the words fat sex. And even now it's difficult to feel like a normal person. Fetish walking. Oh, the shame.

But as it turns out, not everyone is thin. As it also turns out, not everyone cares. It's not necessary to say we live in a culture obsessed with thinness. But, we live in a culture obsessed with thinness. It's also not necessary to say that there is subtle and overt hostility toward the idea of fat sexuality. But, there is.

There is subtle and overt hostility toward fat in just about every arena of life. There is a war against it, after all. I suspect if we lose that war, the terrorists win. It is not clear who the terrorists are in this case, there seem to be many cells: the Happy Meal; high fructose corn syrup; school lunches; overwork; under-work; recess; television; the Internet; video games; eating disorders; poverty; urban sprawl; microwaving Tupperware; lack of breastfeeding; the ratio of calories consumed to calories expended; bariatric surgery; the aversion to anal leakage. Mostly, the lazy fat slobs that just lie around eating chicken wings all day and don't get off their giant arses. Whoever they are.

So, okay, even if it appears our culture believes fat people are gross, the people living in our culture are, well, doing them. And it's not just that fat people "let themselves go" after marriage, so post nuptials we are condemned to sex with a fatso. Actually, secretly, or perhaps not so secretly, a lot of people desire sex with the not-so-svelte. There is much evidence of this -- procreation for one -- but the most powerful is the sex industry. No one knows how many sexually related Internet sites there are (estimates range from one percent to 85 percent of the World Wide Web is made up of sexually explicit material), and no one knows how many sexually related Internet sites there are that feature large women (BBWs: Big Beautiful Women; and, SSBBWs: Super-Sized Big Beautiful Women), but let's say it's safe to estimate it at: a lot.

At around the age of 15, during a time in history in between girdles and Spanx, I wore a bathing suit under my dress. The first time I seriously made out with a boy (park bench, East Village, way past curfew; you know who you are), he asked me if I was going swimming. A perfectly reasonable question, considering. I thought he said: "You're fat." My mistake. Two of us girls had a thing for him, and he picked me. It didn't occur to me that, fat or not, if he picked me, I was the one he wanted. But really, how could I know? Reality had very little to do with my perception of reality. That, it seems, is a common problem.

It doesn't take a sociologist -- or even a feminist -- to recognize the distorted images of women in our culture. And it doesn't take tenure to notice pervasive news and entertainment media perpetuating an extremely thin ideal. It is evident without much discussion that the weight-loss industry is ferocious. Women -- and, more and more so, men -- suffer greatly from feelings of inadequacy and shame because of weight. From those with a "muffin top" to the "super obese," the struggle is profound, and the impact often catastrophic.

Have you noticed that on television and in the movies, any time a fat person gets into a sexual relationship, the primary storyline is about the emotional conflict of whether their partner actually finds them attractive and the angst around taking off their clothes? I recall vividly a scene in The Practice between Camryn Manheim's character and her tall, thin, handsome would-be lover, where she expressed her trepidation about sex with him because of her body, and his exclaiming, "Don't you think I find you attractive?" She broke down in tears (maybe she didn't, but in my storyline tears come next), and he swept her off her feet -- figuratively.

She was heavy. But on a show where she was otherwise portrayed as a strong, independent lawyer with self-confidence to spare, when it came to getting naked and touched, she was suddenly the uncertain schoolgirl, doubting that the man she had been dating found her sexually attractive. It's preposterous. It's also probably widely accurate. Sadly, I relate.

I could go on and on about the trials and tribulations of being fat, the bigotry and prejudice, the notion that fat people are the last group it is socially acceptable to mock, the research on sexual dissatisfaction and dysfunction, the conventional wisdom that fat people are sexually undesirable and undesired, the countless jokes at the expense of "fat chicks." But that is not what this essay is about. This essay is about fat sex from a different perspective.

One of the biggest urban legends is that fat women are better in bed. I have heard various explanations for this phenomenon. It is most likely perpetuated by those who are just more attracted to large people, and therefore, to them, fat women are better in bed. As stereotypes about fat people go, it's one of the more flattering. I choose to believe it; but then again, it serves me.

So how did it work out for me? I will tell you that my grandmother did a number on me, and it's taken work to un-brainwash myself. I still struggle with it every day. But humans are resilient, and sex is a powerful motivator. And you know, fat women are better in bed.

Taraji P. Henson Graces The Cover Of W Magazine And Totally Blows Our Minds

0

Taraji P. Henson is on a roll. Just a few days ago we were swooning over her Allure cover and today it was revealed she's gracing the August 2015 issue of W.

taraji p henson w cover

The actress looks super sexy in a simple white henley shirt and jeans, captured for the cover of the glossy's annual Pop issue by the photography duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Her smoky eye makeup and slick, wet hair add to a sultry look that was styled by W style director Edward Enninful. The image immediately reminded us of Diana Ross' 1980 "Diana" album cover, which means Diana Ross is also everywhere these days: Henson's Allure shoot was a nod to the legendary singer, too.

Henson's role as Cookie on "Empire" has secured her spot as one of TV's most beloved characters, and now she's officially a style star, according to Stefano Tonchi, W's editor-in-chief: “As Cookie, Henson has become an indelible pop-fashion icon,” he states in the issue.

"Empire" fans and Henson agree.

“They see [Cookie's] heart. They see her intentions. And they love her style -- her style is 17 years behind the fashion curve, which makes the clothes a character on the show," Henson told W. "As Cookie grows, you’ll see her fashion grow. And people love that -- she’s a work in progress. The only thing that never changes is her spirit: To me, Cookie is living, breathing, walking truth.”

Check out a behind-the-scenes video above and a few more photos from Henson's W shoot below (warning: one may be NSFW). What do you think?

Everybody, Give Attention To These Men For Doing Things Women Do Every Day

This post originally appeared on The Cut.
By Jessica Roy

Every day millions of women across the globe apply makeup, slip on heels, and munch on a breakfast bar tucked into a pink-and-purple wrapper while heading out the door to work. We do not ask for recognition for accomplishing these everyday feats, and if we sometimes complain, it is only because our toes are being strangled by six-inch stilettos and our Spanx are making it hard to breathe. But there are some who demand praise for performing these herculean tasks: men.

Here we see a man who would like adulation for wearing makeup. He would like to make a point about feminism or something, but any point he may make is undercut by the LOL YOU LOOK RIDICULOUS DOING LADY STUFF nature of the stunt. Same with this man, who initially thought women were real you-know-whats for complaining about how painful heels are, but changed his tune after 12 hours in a pair of three-inch sandals, after which he literally began crying out for death. This guy wrote like a thousand words on how he didn't grow hairy boobs after two weeks of eating Luna Bars. Can you believe it? Luna Bars don't give you hairy boobs.

In fact, Men Trying Lady Stuff represents an entire genre of viral stunt videos. Such videos appear to provide an Important Message About Gender without actually providing any Message About Gender beyond "men like attention," which is not quite revelatory:

Remember, ladies: Your experiences may not be legitimate unless a man has confirmed them himself.

Jaden Smith Finally Explains Why He Wore A Batman Costume To Kimye's Wedding

We fully admit that we don't always understand Jaden Smith, but we're into his DGAF attitude when it comes to doing his own thing.

We're also into the fact that the 16-year-old finally explained why he wore a Batman costume to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's star-studded wedding in May 2014, and dusted off the white Batsuit for prom last month.

"I wore the Batman suit to heighten my experience at the wedding and prom which was fun, but also at the wedding I felt as though I needed to protect everyone there and needed to have the proper gear to do so," he told GQ in an interview, adding that his style icons are " Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Superman, and Kanye West."

The Comeback...(Albino jacked the headgear)

A photo posted by Téo (@pleiadianmessage) on

And suddenly it all makes sense -- which is a good thing, since not even Kris Jenner really knew what the superhero costume was all about. "But actually, the Batman costume was really cool and fabulous, and it was white and it was almost like, 'Oh, there's Jaden in his Batman costume,'" Jenner told HuffPost Live host Caitlyn Becker in an interview in June 2014.

We're one small step closer to understanding Jaden Smith, and yet we've only scratched the surface.

15 Photos That'll Make You Want To Wear French Braids Every Day

Wearing French braids might have been your go-to look as a child, along with doily socks, but that doesn't mean you should shy away from the style as an adult.

We love the braided 'do for several reasons. For starters, French braids instantly turn bad hair days into great ones (see ya later, frizz). They're also one of the easiest braided hairstyles to do since they can be worn so many different ways -- and "mistakes" are really just happy accidents. And they have the ability to transform your look. Yes, transform.

Turn sophisticated outfits edgy by wearing a French braid in a ponytail or faux mohawk, or soften an otherwise severe look by pairing the 'do with beachy waves or wearing it across the crown of your head.

Scroll down for 15 fresh takes on the French braid, along with tops and product recommendations to help you achieve the looks at home.

Our methodology: We looked at the number of times every name in our database was viewed for the first half of this year vs. the same period last year and, controlling for overall traffic increases, which names jumped the highest.

The hottest names of 2015 and beyond are a mix of fresh favorites and vintage choices enjoying new attention. Some of the names here are already-stylish: Everly and Owen, Ash to Zed.

But there are a lot of surprising choices among the Hot 100. That said, if you name your baby the still-unusual Tove or Meilani, Leif or Leon today, don’t be surprised to find it a lot more popular tomorrow.

Without further ado, here are Nameberry's Top 100 baby names of 2015... so far:

Makeup Artist Kandee Johnson Turns Herself Into Barbie

By Caitlin Harrington, writer at LittleThings.com

Just about every girl has owned a Barbie at one point in their life. Whether or not you actually liked playing with dolls, chances are that a friend or family member brought one of those classic rectangular boxes wrapped in pink paper to one of your birthday parties.

Whether she is inspiring girls to be whatever they want to be and to reach for their dreams, or inspiring other companies to make more realistic dolls for girls to look up to, you can't deny that Barbie is a household name that everyone knows.

Although Barbie has faced some controversies over the years, she has evolved with time, and still remains a classic and iconic toy.

Before Barbie was available at just about every toy store you could find in a variety of ethnicities and shapes, her look was very distinct. Blonde hair, blue eyes, pink lipstick and pink clothing and accessories.

Because her look is so recognizable, it is an extremely popular look to recreate when costume and Halloween parties come around, and Kandee Johnson shows us just how close to the doll you can get with some carefully applied makeup, reaffirming another makeup artists video about the power of makeup.

Whether you want to try out the look for yourself, or use some of the tips to create your own cute doll look, you just have to see it to believe just how close Kandee gets to the "real" thing.

3 Reasons Why Cucumber Is Your Skin's New Best Friend

Cucumber has a way of making the simplest things better, like a cold glass of water or a sushi roll. But did you know that this produce section staple can also dramatically transform your skin's health and appearance?

According to dermatologist and psychiatrist Amy Wechsler, cucumber has skincare benefits including vitamin C and caffeic acid, which both fight to reduce inflamed or irritated skin, and hydration thanks to its high water content. The peel itself contains silica, which firms up sagging skin. Wechsler believes even people with the most sensitive skin types can use cucumber to their advantage.

Below are three ways the dermatologist recommends remedying your skin with cucumbers.

1. Calm puffy eyes. For an instant fix, place cool cucumber slices over your eye socket. They will act like little ice packs to relieve puffy lids. "Cucumbers contain flavonoids and antioxidants that decrease swelling, redness and irritation," said Wechsler. "They also provide a cooling effect that helps shrink dilated blood vessels, therefore reducing the appearance of puffy eyes."

2. Treat sunburn and irritated skin. The effects of too much sun can get real painful, especially on the butterfly region of the face (forehead, nose, cheeks and chin). Cucumbers are loaded with lots of nutrients like water, potassium, sulfate and vitamins A and C that soothe skin conditions like sunburns, according to Wechsler. Simply place thin slices of cucumber onto your face and lie down for at least 15 minutes. Then remove the slices and apply a light moisturizer.

3. Use as an anti-aging facial mask. Wechsler's DIY mask calls for half a cucumber, barely puréed, and two tablespoons of plain yogurt. Whip into a thick mixture, apply to your skin and allow it to sit for 15 minutes before cleansing with warm water. "Cucumbers contain vitamin C and caffeic acid, two antioxidants that, when applied to skin, help fend off wrinkles, sun damage and more," said Wechsler. "Yogurt is an exfoliating agent that works to remove dirt and dead skin cells. When combined with cucumber, which has cleansing properties, it is the perfect hydrating, soothing blend for your skin."

How do you incorporate cucumbers into your skincare regimen? Tell us in the comments section.
