Fashion Week Proves That Gender Binary-Defying Menswear Won't Die Anytime Soon

Though the CFDA introduced New York Fashion Week: Men's back in July, some brands still showed either full-on collections or insert menswear looks within their womenswear runway shows this season. While Alexander Wang and Pyer Moss incorporated modern fabrication and silhouettes into traditional menswear, there's a large amount of menswear designers who showed gender binary-defying collections.

Nicola Formichetti showed guys in nude tulle skirts and T-shirts with ruffled sleeves in his Spring 2016 presentation for his clothing line Nicopanda. Telfar Clemens from Telfar sent men down the runway in daisy dukes paired with off-the-shoulder tops -- a huge womenswear trend this season -- and footwear that teetered between slip on sneakers and ballet flats. In the Hood by Air Show, a male model was styled in nipple-exposing cut-out high/low shirt dress and heels.

This style of menswear definitely fits into the Huffington Post's #NYFW4ALL campaign. Men deserve some diversity on the racks in department stores too, right? The average menswear fashion consumer isn't going anywhere; there will always be a fella who wants a Public School crew neck or a gentleman looking for a Tommy Hilfiger suit. However, with a growing number of designers showing men in nontraditional menswear season after season, maybe this "trend" is transforming into a new menswear classic.

How The Fashion Industry Is Failing Black Models

Getting cast in runway shows isn't the only challenge black models deal with during Fashion Week. If they do become one of the few brown faces booked, they may encounter hairstylists and makeup artists who aren't trained to work with kinkier hair textures or darker skin tones. This lack of expertise isn't unusual in an industry rife with racial ignorance, yet there are individuals who won't let it be overlooked.

Sudanese model Nykhor Paul recently shared her frustrations on Instagram about makeup artists not having the right products to match her "blue black" complexion. She wrote, "A good makeup artist would come prepared and do their research before coming to work because often times you know what to expect especially at a show! Stop apologizing it's insulting and disrespectful to me and my race it doesn't help, seriously! Make an effort at least!"

Supermodel and "FABLife" co-host Tyra Banks can certainly relate to this struggle; she had to create her own foundation kit when starting her career to avoid embarrassing makeup mishaps. However, her advice to every model is "come prepared." As she told HuffPost, "Yes, complain. Get the word out. Spread the word. But, while you're spreading the word, make sure that you're looking right and tight and take it into your own hands."

Watch the video above to learn more about what Paul, Banks and fashion industry leaders Bobbi Brown, Ted Gibson and Bethann Hardison believe is the source and solution to the problems models of color still face today.

From simple Roman cloths to pointy-shaped cones, bras have changed quite a bit since the days of the Romans.

And as bras have evolved from shapeless fabric to contoured undergarments, this video from Glamour shows just how views on women's bodies have changed over time. Women's breasts and bodies have been hidden, shrunken, flaunted, distorted and enhanced over the years, with a new bra to accompany each change. Watch the video above to learn a little bit more about each time period and how the bra you're currently wearing came to be.

This October will mark 26 years since Pamela Anderson first graced the cover of Playboy magazine. The former "Baywatch" star would go on to cover the magazine 12 more times, most recently posing for the magazine in 2011.

So while you've likely seen Anderson nude before, the blonde bombshell stripped down again -- this time for Flaunt magazine.

The 48-year-old posed totally nude for photographer David LaChapelle and opened up to the magazine about her sons Dylan, 17, and Brandon, 19, who she says "probably saved my life because I’ve been in crowds and circles and I’ve gone a little wild, but I always make it home for my kids.”

This Simple Trick Will Make You Look Instantly More Awake

$

Those who invest in eye creams and face serums usually want to make sure they're doing everything possible to get the most bang for their buck -- whether that's enhancing effectiveness by incorporating the product into a well-crafted nighttime routine or focusing on different problem areas as they age.

But here's one brilliant beauty trick you may not have tried.

According to celebrity skin expert and registered nurse Jamie Sherrill, we should be treating our refrigerators "like a medicine cabinet" by chilling certain beauty products when they're not in use.

"Moisturizers, eye creams and masks have an instant de-puffing effect when they've been stored in a cold place like the refrigerator," she says.

As a catalyst, the cold temperature can be quite powerful. "It causes your vessels to constrict, and it reduces inflammation and swelling, giving you a more 'awake' look almost instantly," Sherrill explains.

This trick isn't just for the product inside the jars, either.

"Many eye creams and serums come with this metal rollerball applicator," Sherrill says. "In keeping these little guys cold, it enhances the cooling effect and reduces the inflammation even more. Keep these in the refrigerator for a more dramatic effect."

And what about all-natural creams and serums? If you typically use beauty products that don't contain any preservatives, putting them in the fridge could extend their shelf-life as well.

It can "slow down bacterial growth -- but remember that it just slows the growth; it doesn't prevent it entirely," Sherrill says.

The refrigerator can be a great enhancer, but before you go overboard, Sherrill adds a brief word of caution: "Your skincare products should not go in the freezer," she says. "The extreme cold will ruin the product and its efficacy."

Kylie Jenner Has Green Hair And A Lot Of 11-Year-Old Fans

$

Outside the Sugar Factory in New York on Wednesday night, a crowd of more than two hundred teenagers lined up against a barricaded sidewalk in hopes of getting a glimpse of Kylie Jenner.

"We've been here since 2 o'clock," one particularly tired teen with braces lamented to me as I shamefully slipped past the red ropes. I felt bad for some of these kids, especially the ones who got a great spot in front of the backdrop on the red carpet, where Jenner would eventually pout and pose for the cameras. Hours later, paparazzi had swarmed in and blocked their views.

Why is it still surprising to see this kind of hoopla over somebody like Kylie Jenner? After all, she has 36 million Instagram followers. Her new self-titled app topped the iTunes Free Apps chart, surpassing that of her sisters Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian and Kendall Jenner. She's been a reality star since she was 10. Still, I found myself wondering, "Why are all of these teens here?" And since the 18-year-old was running late, I had time to go out and ask them myself.

"We love her. A lot of people think bad of her, but we don’t see her in that light. We see her in a positive light," a 16-year-old girl from New York City said. "Her app, she posted a video about how she went to a children’s hospital and she gave them presents. It brought a smile to their faces to see Kylie Jenner."

Two 11-year-old girls wore specially made shirts with Kylie Jenner's picture on them. "I love her style. Her lips, her blue hair... I’ve loved her for, like, three years," one of them said. (When you're 11 years old, three years is a long time.)

Finally, the woman of the hour arrived, who had apparently changed up her newly-dyed blond locks into a shade of mint green. Donning a nude crop top and a matching pencil skirt, the hair chameleon smiled for the cameras as the crowd chanted her name at a pitch that only teenagers could manage. Her boyfriend, Tyga, stood on the sidelines, snapping photos of her as well:

When asked about the massive success of her app, which provides beauty, fashion and lifestyle tips for the price of $2.99 a month, Jenner seemed humbled.

“It’s so surprising. I never thought I’d be No. 1 in general, so it’s dope," she said. "I have a lot of tips on my style, and the fans that follow me love that stuff. That’s like, their lane. There's so much fun stuff to share with them."

Jenner also made headlines on Wednesday for serving as a model in her brother-in-law Kanye West's fashion show. But the real star of the event was North West, who sat adorably in mom Kim Kardashian's lap. Jenner lovingly gushed to HuffPost about her niece:

"I just left the Kanye show and [North] was yelling my name, like 'Kylie! Kylie!' She’s so cute. I loved her outfit and I’m probably gonna get brown Doc Martens because of her," Jenner said.

And then she went and gave the people what they really wanted all along: selfies.

Lupita Nyong'o Takes Our Breath Away On Her Second Vogue Cover

They say lightning doesn't strike twice, but it certainly has for actress Lupita N'yongo. The stunning "Star Wars" actress has landed her second Vogue cover and has rendered us speechless.

Dressed in a gold-and-crimson Valentino Haute Couture dress, the 32-year-old star and her flawless skin are aglow on the October cover, which was captured by photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.

In the cover story, the Kenyan beauty tells writer Plum Sykes about her first encounter with wearing couture clothes. “I didn’t know the power of couture until I tried on a couture dress. It made me cry."

What brings us to tears is the fact that Vogue not only decided to put Nyong'o on its cover for the second time, but that it also comes directly after the glossy's September issue that was graced by Beyoncé

The significance of a black woman immediately following another black woman on the cover of the most influential fashion magazine in the world is not lost on us. In American Vogue's 123-year existence, there have only been 34 covers (see slideshow below) that have featured a black cover model or celebrity -- excluding group shots.

And if the cover wasn't enough, N'yongo also got the "73 Questions" treatment. In the awesome 5-minute video, the "Twelve Years A Slave" actress walks around the Vogue fashion closets while talking about her favorite things -- like her fashion icon, which happens to be her mother. Oh, and her favorite drink happens to be pineapple juice, which she'd like to have with ballerina Misty Copeland one day. Amazing.

Check it out above and make sure to grab the October issue when it hits newsstands on Sept. 22.

Kris Jenner Reveals She Didn't Want Kylie Jenner To Get Lip Injections

When Kylie Jenner confirmed she'd gotten lip injections back in May, we can't say we were surprised. A question that did come up, however, was: Why did Kris Jenner let her 17-year-old daughter do it in the first place?

Well, as it turns out, the Kardashian matriarch wasn't fully supportive of her daughter's decision. In an exclusive new interview with Access Hollywood, the 59-year-old momager told Billy Bush how she really felt about her youngest daughter's desire to change her appearance

"I get a little crazy -- and I think that is what no one sees -- and I do have definite thoughts and ideas or [ideas on] what she should do, you know, at a really young age," she said. "I am from the generation that, in my day, I mean, some of this stuff did not exist for sure but ... I don't think I did one thing, physically, to myself until I was in my 50s ... So I am thinking, why? Why? Why do you need to do that?"

But once the procedure was all said and done, Kris just learned to accept it and has moved on. (It should be noted that even though she may not have been happy about it, she must have given permission, seeing as Kylie was only 17 when she started.)

"I got really upset, and then it was done, and I had to let it go," she added. "She's my kid; I love my kid. We make mistakes."

Kris also proudly confirmed that as their momager, she takes a standard 10 percent of her daughters' earnings. Just let that sink in for a minute -- if Kim, Kylie or any one of the sisters makes an appearance for $250,000, Kris goes home with a cool $25,000 just for getting them there. Not too shabby.

Transgender Model Andreja Pejic Talks About Industry Pressure, Fitness And More

$

Preparing for fashion week is hard enough as it is. And all we have to do is attempt to look like some semblance of the stylish people our job titles would purport us to be and get ourselves (occasionally on time) to the shows and various appointments we've actually been invited to. For the models who actually walk the runways, stand for hours on end at presentations, host countless parties, launch events and signings, it's a whole other beast entirely (perhaps you've heard of the sample size). So we got to talking with Andreja Pejic at Brooklyn's Xtend Barre--the site of her latest Pilates obsession--the heralded transgender model who, well, knows a thing or two about the pressures that come with working in an industry where your body is quite literally your meal ticket. Herein, in collaboration with Huffington Post Style's #NYFW4ALL, the new face of Make Up For Ever tells us about the importance of prevention, avoiding snacks, fashion week breakfasts and why she feels lucky as a member of the transgender community.

andreja

General Wellness
"For me wellness is about staying healthy, so you can live longer and enjoy life more, Life is short, so we should work on our bodies to have more fun and to keep going for longer. It's definitely a state of mind: at the end of the day it's just about being happy.

[My wellness goals include] staying healthy, looking good and skincare and skin health is something that's very important to me; keeping my metabolism fast, keeping my body fit and my muscle structure toned. I avoid sunlight as much as possible and wear SPF 50 all of the time, even in winter. I drink a lot of teas--green tea, white tea, all herbal teas--I think it's very important as far as antioxidants go. I use good skincare: a lot of antioxidant serums and retinol treatments, along with regular exfoliation and cleansing. I exercise at least twice a week. I have a natural muscle tone, so I focus more on cardio and I do quite a bit of Bikram yoga. I don't necessarily diet so much. I have periods when I'm not so healthy and then I have periods when I'm more concerned--definitely around fashion week. I don't diet, but I cut out fatty things and processed sugar and just generally try to eat healthy food.

Definitely as a teenager I ate a lot more sugar, a lot more processed food--when you're young and you have less of a conscience--but I don't do sweets any more. I've cut out snacking, I go to the gym more regularly, I do a lot more walking up and down stairs. I think I've just evolved more of a conscience when it comes to my wellness.

I feel like I'm in a great position compared to most people in the transgender community--I do feel very lucky. But I think it'll take some time before transgender models are seen like other models and used like other models. I think the runways can definitely do more to represent this amazing cultural shift, but you get more bees with honey and I think in time it's just something that is going to get bigger and more acceptable."

andreja

Mental Health
"I try to get alone time as much as possible. I am a bit of an introvert and obviously in this industry, it's a very highly stimulating environment, so sometimes I need a break. I just read a book and chill on my own and decompress. I think having good people around me who I can talk to and share the highs, but also talk to about the lows with is important. In this industry it's sort of a work in progress: you learn to deal with the stress of the industry as you get older a lot better than when you're starting out."

Travel
"I try to get a lot of sleep and take supplements like gingko for good circulation and fish oil--that's my main thing. I keep away from bacteria by washing my hands--traveling exposes you to a lot of bacteria."

andreja

Eating
"I drink teas; coconut water is great. If I go out and I'm going to have a few drinks, I use this electrolyte powder that you dissolve in water. It's supposed to hydrate you 10 times more than normal water--that's important because obviously nights out can be dehydrating.

I generally don't cook that much--I just make breakfast--but I make a nice curry with curry powder. During fashion week I've been going a lot to Liquiteria, and I usually have a morning breakfast smoothie and a side parfait. Usually for breakfast I eat eggs. I like to eat something substantial for breakfast; I definitely think it's the most important meal of the day, so sometimes a bagel with tuna and avocado.

[My guilty pleasure is] probably my mom's cake. When I go back home she tries to fatten me up; she thinks I'm too skinny. She's European, so she's very much all about food and every time I go back she deliberately makes cake for me to eat because she knows I love it. And I love fried chicken once in a while.

I try not to eat too much before I workout--maybe have a little protein bar. After I usually have something more, like Mexican food."

Annie's Now Makes Vegan Mac And Cheese

$

0

Growing up, you were either an Annie's kid or a Kraft kid. But if you were vegan or lactose intolerant, you were neither kind of kid.

Now Annie's has changed the game with the release of a dairy-free version of its classic macaroni and cheese. It's 100 percent vegan.

In fact, the company unveiled two vegan versions: One with shell-shaped pasta and a second with elbow-shaped pasta that's made from organic rice pasta and gluten-free. Both were found at Whole Foods for $2.89 a box. The "cheese" that makes up the marketed "creamy sauce" is made from a mix of pumpkin and sweet potato powders, and the sauce instructions call for half a cup of non-dairy milk.

HuffPost editors had the chance to get their tastebuds on the shells. One the main conclusions: It certainly doesn't taste like the cheese sauce in the brand's dairy offerings. But with vegetable ingredients and seasonings like paprika, garlic and mustard powders, it never promised to.

We used plain old almond milk in the sauce, and felt the thickening mixture looked a little scary as we stirred -- the color was a bit Halloween-y, but not in that neon Kraft kind of way. Plus, there was an unexpected spicy odor, thanks to the seasonings. Once the shells were added back into the pot, however, things didn't look so bad.

Despite the fact that the product didn't taste like the mac and cheese of our youth, Annie's vegan version received mostly satisfactory reviews -- if you don't think of it as mac and cheese. A few notes from editors:

  • "If I were a child and this was the first thing I ate, I wouldn't think 'Ew, that's gross.' But since I've had mac and cheese before, I can't be fooled."

  • "Under the guise of mac and cheese, this doesn't work. As a pasta salad something, it's not too shabby."

  • "I like it as a dish, but I don't like it as mac and cheese."

  • "I like the consistency, but it wasn't cheese."

Scientists who formulate vegan cheese alternatives clearly have some work to do, and the work is not specific to Annie's. There are more than 7 million vegetarians in America, of whom some 1 million are vegan, excluding all animal products including dairy and eggs from their diets.  "Once mocked as a fringe diet for sandal-wearing health food store workers, veganism is moving from marginal to mainstream in the United States," noted the Associated Press. In other words, Eating vegan is no longer a "hippie" thing to do; it's just a thing to do.

Annie's has absolutely kept a watchful eye on the rising trend of this food preference, but the company isn't alone. This year, IKEA rolled out vegan meatballs. Earlier, Chipotle began serving tofu as a protein, and even White Castle added veggie burgers to its meat-heavy menu. Big cheeses (non-dairy, that is) like Bill Clinton, Miley Cyrus and Beyoncé have proudly gone public with their vegan tendencies.

Mac and cheese itself has undergone some extreme changes this year: Kraft announced the removal of synthetic dyes, which altered the color of its iconic blue box cheese powder, and many gluten-free offerings have popped up on shelves. Only time will tell if Annie's dairy-free addition will keep the macaroni remodeling on a roll.

Waiting for Breakaway Hairstyles From Fashion Week

$

0
So far, I'm seeing a lot of what I expected.

Hair at New York Fashion Week has been beautiful but fairly low-key overall, leaving the catwalks to the clothes. The big four Fashion Weeks, with New York followed by London, Milan and Paris, are primarily about apparel design, but hairstyle is an essential element of the whole look and it's all definitely worth following for the hair.

I am not seeing as many hair accessories as in past Fashion Weeks, at least not so far. What I have seen that I love are styles that use a braid or twist as the accessory. This is pretty subtle stuff but it's lovely and follows the very strong trend we're in toward natural colors and simpler, more natural cuts. Altuzarra did this with parts down the middle, sort of a retro look, but then with waves gathered under a long, soft twist.

Seems that we're seeing some curl coming back, but ever so quietly, reminding me of a late 70s, 80s touch with waves taking on a really soft, crimped look in some of the hairstyles, a departure from the big beachy waves we've seen in recent summers.

A lot of the hair also had a carefree, easy look. Carolina Herrera and Tommy Hilfiger went with center parts in very natural, no-fuss styles. Jason Wu went with a slick-back wet look gathered in twists and buns to go with his designs. This slick-back style goes with a lot of different looks and it's a favorite on the runways.

I'm seeing little in the way of avant garde cuts and colors. On some red carpets in recent months we've seen some silver-gray hair with soft, blended tones of blue and fuchsia but nothing like that dominating the runways in New York. Hair colors remained natural and the transitions were very subtle.

It will be interesting to see what a change of venue brings. We've got a couple more days of NY Fashion Week then it's off to London, then Milan and the traditional finish in Paris.

As always, be open to change!

True beauty lets you fly. True beauty grounds you in gratitude. It grounds you, crowns you and abounds in youth. It's vibrant from the roots up so you may thrive. Swapping conventional personal care products for clean treats is one of the easiest and simplest ways to boost your radiance, enhance your performance and massively increase your magnetism. Beauty that's divine, naturally.

Gratitude Beauty is one of my favorite tools to help guide you toward optimal wellbeing. Think of it as your roadmap to healthy, honest personal care items. In many cases, I've had the pleasure of chatting directly with the founders/creators of the treasures below. They've shared their visions and principles with me, their dreams and reasons, their commitment and passion. It's my intention to pass this wealth of beauty on to you so you may make the most educated decisions on which products would suit your needs & desires best. All of the items in Gratitude Beauty are all-natural, high-vibe, completely/mostly organic or wildcrafted, vegan/beegan and cruelty-free (the red carmine pigment in some color cosmetics would not qualify as vegan). I also adore when manufacturers extend their love of nature into eco-conscious packaging that's even more gorgeous than that of top-tier fashion houses. Win-win-win.

I hope you enjoy this two-part series of Gratitude Beauty! It's a wonderful blend of skin care, body care, color cosmetics, superfoods, oral care and artisan perfume. Join the hot circle of mindful makers & conscious shakers. Part 2 of Gratitude Beauty's coming your way soon. Now dive in, delight and discover!

Housekeeping: I have not been compensated to write about these products. I've picked them myself because I want to highlight clean, good-for-you options. They'll make you look and feel even more fabulous than high-end, conventional brands. Green beauty is my passion and as Chief Truffle Pig Curator I like to share what's awesome.

~

Axiology Beauty: High fashion with a purpose. These days there's really no excuse for not delivering high-performance, organic, eco-friendly, vegan lip treats that look and feel beyond fabulous. Add to that the *gorgeous* packaging made from paper scraps that come from a boutique, women-run recycled paper store in Bali (beauty that helps reduce waste... beautiful); the super fun and functional click bullet that releases upon pushing the button; the fact that they keep the love flowing by donating 6% of their annual profits to the Orangutan Foundation International. Enter, Axiology Beauty. For true haute couture lip sticks that are good for you & the planet, look no further. All vegan, natural, organic, ethical. Love. Truth. Beauty.

Urban Moonshine: From Sunday night football pig-outs to Thanksgiving celebrations and holiday extravaganzas, all the way to Easter brunches, summer barbies and everything in between, it's useful to have magic potions on hand. You know, for when you need a supernatural boost. 'Cuz when you're healthy & happy, you're extra pretty. Love the travel sizes from Urban Moonshine because they fit in the littlest clutch and make for witty icebreakers if needed. The Organic Digestive Bitters prove that bitter is better. They support smooth digestion which makes for vibrant health. The bold aroma of the original flavor is invigorating (and I'm very intrigued by the citrus combo). Consider the Joy Tonic your portable chill pill, without any negative side effects. It's a blend of motherwort, linden, rose, lemon balm, lemongrass and mugwort in an alcohol/water base. Meant to support the nervous system and restore a positive mental attitude. Every New Yorker should be taking this! Equally, the Immune Tonic is a trusty companion to keep on hand whether you're riding the NYC subway, live in a crowded city, fly a lot or just want to bolster your beloved bod's immune system. Astragalus, red reishi, maitake, codonopsis, eleuthero, licorice, schizandra berry and ginger are the heroes here. All organic. All housed in sturdy, refillable glass bottles. All made in Vermont.

100% Pure: One of my gifts is that I embody the Truffle Pig Curator archetype. I naturally find great stuff, and love sharing it with the world. Because when you're happy, healthy and gorgeous, you light up the universe. And that makes me feel awesome, too. 100% Pure has been one of my favorite companies for years because of their dedication to absolute purity. Everything's organic; the colors come from fruit pigments; the divine scents really come from the fruits you're smelling; they're very charitable toward animals; cruelty-free; vegan/beegan; made in the USA. Their latest Vitamint lip creamsticks are total rockstars; try "dragonfruit" and "cherry tomato" for vibrant, healthy pops of color. The new Honey Cream Wash is a joy to use (creamy, refreshing, nourishing), and the pump bottle is the cherry on top. Want beautifully defined lashes that bring out the brilliance of your eyes without any irritation? Then take 100% Pure's new Maracuja Oil Mascara for a spin; I think you'll be delighted. The maracuja oil conditions your lovely lashes while emphasizing them. It's sort of like wearing a fantastic hair mask and sporting the best hair do at the same time. Bonus points: it's the best-smelling mascara, ever.

Soapwalla: Looking for your hero deo? Soapwalla's Deodorant Cream might do the trick for you. In consistency not unlike cupcake frosting, it's easily spreadable, vegan and aluminum-free. The new citrus flavor could really pass for lemon frosting (requesting a gingerbread option for holiday, please). Aside from being nice-smelling and all, the Deodorant Cream is a supreme option for those who haven't found their holy grail natural deodorant yet. I'm also fond of the convenient travel sizes of the Hand & Body Wash (hello, public bathroom!); the Luxurious Body Oil; and the Balancing Facial Toning Mist. First off, love the minis! So convenient to have in the tote or laptop bag. I feel like making a PSA that all restrooms everywhere should provide healthy, all-natural soaps that cleanse just as well as or even better than those hormone-disrupting, offensive-smelling, cheap chemical soaps currently used in most places. There, I just did it. And thanks, Soapwalla, for creating the "comfort" flavor in the Hand & Body Wash. Smells like organic macaroons fresh from the oven. The Luxurious Body Oil is subtle enough that guys would also love it (think ginger, citrus, lemongrass). And who doesn't enjoy a pick-me-up facial mist? Lavender to the rescue in the office, car, subway, airport, line at the grocery store... Heaven is just a spritz away. Housed in a gorgeous blue glass bottle. Skin food. Made in Brooklyn. By hand. In small batches. Vegan.

Suti: You may have seen this beautiful British organic skincare brand at select online retailers but you may not be aware of how much magic and intention goes into creating their potent plant potions. Aside from obviously choosing only the purest ingredients, they supercharge their treats with the energies of reiki, crystals, the moon cycle and flower essences. The Fabulous Foot Balm is an instant favorite of mine as it manages to be both enjoyably invigorating thanks to rosemary, peppermint and eucalyptus and divinely nourishing courtesy of avocado, shea and olive. Makes for a crazy good hand treatment too. The Purity Organic Restorative Balm will make you feel as if you're meditating in a loving cocoon. Calming, soothing, absolutely nourishing. The zen extends into a healthy glow with the Rejuvenate Organic Face Oil. Looks like liquid amber, smells delicious and is jam-packed with rosehip, evening primrose and argan oil. The high vibe approach has deep roots: as co-founder Suzannah has shared with me, "we perform a meditation with all of the plant materials as a way of saying Grace and being Grateful for their growth and their journey to us - so we certainly put Gratitude into Beauty." Also notice the beautiful, pure, recyclable glass jars.

Vapour Beauty: Loving the ease & sheer genius of the Stratus Soft Focus Instant Skin Perfector. It's a primer; it's a subtly pearlescent glow-giver; it's your best skin in one pump. Truly an instant skin perfector (don't you love when they really deliver on the promises of exceptional results?!). The secret: Vapour suspends minerals in a concentrated moisturizing base which means that the products don't settle into or accentuate fines lines/wrinkles. Can you say photoshop in a bottle? To make the most out of your glorious face, contour & bronze with the Solar Translucent Bronzer. Comes in three shades; housed in a super portable, retractable stick applicator (thus no extra landfill waste because you don't need additional brushes, sponges, tools). For your concealing needs, try the creamy Illusionist Concealer. Available in a slew of shades and also packaged in a retractable stick, it's a wonderful companion to your bronzer and primer. Flawless skin made easy. All cruelty-free. All organic. All committed to animal protection groups. Member of the Leaping Bunny Program. Love.

Josh Rosebrook: The ingredients in Josh's new Oculus Formula read like a gourmet herbed smoothie: hemp, sunflower, coconut, almond, grapeseed, graced with camelina, spiked with eyebright, alfalfa, blueberry, rosemary... Josh's a master herbalist who really understands the beauty that comes to life when you bring the most potent plant players together and let them do their thing. I adore Oculus' stainless steel roller ball & glass vial delivery system. Très chic, effective and sanitary! Here's another game-changer: The Herbal Infusion Oil that will take your cleansing routine to new heights. A delight to use, it provides a deep cleanse while leaving your skin glowingly nourished. Can your cleanser do that? To put your best face forward in the morning, I encourage you to explore Josh's day creams: they come in regular (or nude, as I like to call it) & tinted. Now go shine your light!

Lotus Wei: You could live in Antarctica and feel inspired to get your bikini out just by looking at the colorful, powerful flower treats from Lotus Wei. The Wish-Fulfilling Scrub Trio is gourmet heaven. Think silky, glowy, happy skin for dayyyys. The scrumptious aromas will linger in your bathroom: in the mood for chocolate-espresso (Life is Good) today? Or how about sparkly, tipsy berry (Sky's the Limit)? How 'bout bamboo zen (Make it Happen)? The genius of Lotus Wei is rooted in the wisdom of flower essences that can impact our wellbeing tremendously. Think of flower essences as natural tuning forks that realign your system with real flow. So while the scrubs' flavors sound all delish & yummy, know that there's potent plant power working behind the scenes. I'm also a huge fan of their mists. Joy Juice should be available in every office and public space. As the name implies, it uplifts, energizes, and helps you get your happy on (cue Pharrell and shake that bootie). It'd be equally nice to have Quiet Mind available in every office and public space. Mist, breathe in, enjoy. While you're at it, swap that boring lip stuff you might be using (or dare I say it, that chapstick) for the latest addition to Lotus Wei's assortment: The Truthteller lip balm. Maybe that's the encouragement you need to speak your truth. Flower alchemy in action. Organic.

Dr. Bronner's: Covering all your bases. If you're a minimalist in the beauty department and love when one product is the David Copperfield of your top shelf, Dr. Bronner's will delight you tremendously. Besides the fact that the cheery orange container of the Pump Soap makes me smile every time I look at it, it's very handy and multi-purpose (hand, face, body, hair if you need it to). The Shaving Soap's formula is similar to that of the pump one but especially great for throwing in the suitcase. And for happy teeth I'm thrilled to share that Dr. Bronner's have launched a Toothpaste (and there's a flavah for even the choosiest tooth fairy: peppermint, anise, cinnamon). Truly All-One. If you know someone who still uses the conventional stuff shown on TV, do everyone a favor and point them toward this goodie. Voilà. Fairtrade. Vegan.

We asked MAC senior artist Cynthia Rivas how to keep lipstick from...

1....getting all over your teeth:
After applying, form an O with your mouth. "Put an index finger through and pull out to remove excess color from middle of lips," says Rivas.

2...feathering:
Use a lip primer first, going slightly outside your natural lip line. Wait a few seconds to let it set, then apply lip liner and color. "The primer acts like an adhesive, helping lip color stay in place," says Rivas. Try MAC Prep + Prime Lip ($16.50, nordstrom.com).

3...fading:
Lightly dust lips with loose powder before swiping on color. Matte formulas stay put better, but if you're going creamy, Rivas suggests setting color with a powder blush in the same shade.

How's your skin lately? Clear, radiant and glowy? And your hair? Thick and shiny and lustrous? If not, maybe you need to take a look at what you're eating. Eating more of these foods, say experts, could help beautify you...

Of course, you already know the importance of skin health and hydration (so I hope you're drinking plenty of H2O, laying low on the soda, and having a cup of green tea now and then). But, to boost your skin even more, consider this advice from registered dietitians Willow and Stephanie from C&J Nutrition, who shared some tips over at Whitney Port recently:

*Eat more orange foods: "Oranges contain vitamin C, a necessary nutrient for your body to make collagen, the component in your skin that gives it elasticity and firmness, and keeps the fibers that create each hair together," note the RDs. "Plus, beta carotene, found in carrots, sweet potatoes, cantaloupe, mango, and other orange fruits and veggies is needed for cells to grow, and since our hair cells are constantly in a state of growth, it's a VIP. And guys, we're naturally orange foods. Sorry, Cheetos don't count!"

*Get plenty of iron-packed protein: "We naturally shed hair each month, but not eating enough protein can slow the rate that the hairs grow back, causing hair to thin. Iron is a super VIP for helping your red blood cells carry oxygen and nutrients to hair follicles and skin cells. Get iron-packed protein by eating an assortment of beans, tofu, edamame, lean beef, chicken, black-eyed peas, lentils, and eggs."

*Eat your garbanzo beans: Garbanzo beans, or chickpeas, contain zinc. "If you don't get enough zinc, it can slow the rate at which hair grows and lead to hair loss and can also cause red, flaky skin. These delicious beans also contain vitamin B-6 and folate, which are like a nutritional Fed-Ex--they help your body make the cells that deliver all the nutrition from your healthy diet directly to each hair and hair follicle!"

Love these tips, and I'm feeling a craving coming on for garbanzo beans right now--you?

Pinterest Surpasses 100 Million Users, Exceeding Projections

Pinterest, the content-sharing site that allows users to save, categorize and share finds from around the Web, reached a major milestone Wednesday when it surpassed 100 million monthly active users -- exceeding recent projections.

"Pinterest started five years ago as a place to save the best of the Web, and has evolved into a discovery engine that helps people discover, save and do things they love," a representative said in a statement. "Today, we're announcing our user number for the first time: Pinterest has more than 100 million people worldwide using the service every month."

The number of "pinners" has doubled in the past 18 months, according to the company. International users have doubled in the last year and they now make up about 45 percent of total users.

The numbers exceed the growth predicted in February by market research company eMarketer, which estimated Pinterest would top 50 million U.S. users next year.

The site is wildly popular among fashion enthusiasts, with nearly 300 million Pinterest "boards" dedicated to the topic, according to the Pinterest statement. There are another 180 million boards dedicated to food and drink and 130 million to home decor.

Pinterest also appears to have found some footing among teachers, as the site identified 30 million boards that focus on education and helping kids learn in more creative ways.

The site's user base is still just a drop in the bucket compared to Facebook, which reported in July that it has 1.49 billion monthly active users. Pinterest is, however, catching up to Twitter, which boasts 304 million monthly active users.

Carly Fiorina Wore High Heels For A 3-Hour Debate And Won. Obvi.

The political pundits have spoken, declaring Carly Fiorina the winner of CNN's Republican debate held Wednesday night.

But the former Hewlett Packard CEO and presidential hopeful not only stole the show with her fierce and precise responses, she also did so standing in a pair of 3 1/2-inch heels for three hours.

Yes, most women are very familiar with the perils of wearing heels for long periods of time while still handling business. However, we wanted to take a moment and applaud Fiorina's fashionable feat. She was exceptionally poised and didn't sway or slouch as she fielded tough questions and put Donald Trump in his place.

And in case you didn't catch it, Trump made it very clear multiple times that he thought the debate was entirely too long. Hmm, good thing he didn't have to stand in heels the whole time.

For inquiring minds, we're making a well-educated guess that the shoes in question are the "Wotton" suede T-strap pump by Manolo Blahnik -- and we're 100 percent amazed by Fiorina's oh-so-stylish stamina.

"It is always a great pleasure to hear my shoes can be worn for hours and hours -- it proves we are great technicians," Manolo Blahnik told The Huffington Post.

"I watched eagerly when Carly Fiorina first walked on stage to see how high her heels were," said our very own Arianna Huffington. "I immediately recognized the heels she was wearing, as I have the same Manolo Blahnik pumps in black. They're high -- 3 1/2 inches! I personally wear them when I know I'm sitting down! I love them and completely understand why she chose them, in terms of style. But, as the debate dragged on, I wondered how uncomfortable she must have been, especially since she didn't just have to stand there looking elegant but being alert and firing on all cylinders. For the next debate, I highly recommend a kitten heel. Here are some suggestions from Manolo Blahnik: D'Orsay heels, 'Carolyne' heels and the 'Sfida' heels. It makes a huge difference and she would look just as chic."

But the height of the heel aside, it reminds us of what was once said about actor/dancer Fred Astaire and his legendary dance partner: "Sure he was great, but don't forget Ginger Rogers did everything he did backwards ... and in high heels!"

How To Trim Your Bangs Without Screwing Up Your Haircut

We all know someone who regrets picking up a pair of scissors to trim their bangs. In fact, that person may even be you. A bad experience of cutting your own at home shouldn't stop you from giving it another try, especially when you're armed with the right tools and tips.

In the video above, the editors at Birchbox demonstrate how to trim your bangs carefully and successfully. One of the biggest mistakes most people make when cutting their hair is using the wrong tools. To get the job done, you'll need: a fine-toothed comb and hair shears. Unlike regular scissors, hair shears' blades are thinner and come to a finer point that allows you to soften up the edges of your locks. It's also very crucial that you use the comb as a guide to trim at your desired length. As the Birchbox editors point out, it's always better to start longer, then go back in to shorten.

Watch the video for all the steps so you can achieve salon-worthy bangs at home, including a cool trick on how to get a thicker fringe versus wispy layers.

This Is How You Avoid The "Dark Days of Dating"

$

If you've been feeling like the future of dating is doomed, you're not alone.

In approximately 3 years of mainstream existence, dating apps have turned traditional courtship on its head. It's a brave new world out there, but if you're single, you may have been led to believe that we've left the good old days behind for a dystopian dating future where sexting is the modern equivalent of a love letter. I'm here to tell you not to believe the hype.

"Hookup Culture" and "The Dating Apocalypse" are nothing but overused buzzwords created by enlightened millennial bloggers who claim that an entire generation has somehow singlehandedly killed romance with their dating ineptitude. While in reality, young people pursuing casual relationships is hardly a new concept - can we take a moment to imagine what Woodstock would have been like with Tinder on the loose?

Since then of course, technology has been the obvious gamechanger. Dating in 2015 involves optimizing our encounters for maximum efficiency and sharing our new experiences on any number of social platforms, so the emotional highs and lows should be expected to be more frequent, and more highly publicized. The point isn't that love hurts, because it always has. What matters is that modern love is far from being a lost cause.

These are the only two things you need to remember to avoid buying into the arrival of the dark days of dating:

Be realistic.

A surprisingly high percentage of people who sign up for online dating sites tap out because there are no wedding bells within the first week. Would you swear off dating because you didn't walk directly into your soulmate on the street within a week of deciding you're ready to meet someone? Probably (hopefully) not.

PlentyOfFish has found that the best way to maximize your chances of finding someone you're compatible with is to be realistic in what you're looking for. When it come to dating, many women are disregarding the fact that certain men are looking for casual relationships, and pressure them for something more serious. These women are statistically less likely to leave the site in a relationship. Basically, it pays off to identify what you're looking for, and stay in that lane. Women who want to be in a relationship or get married are 7 percent more likely to be part of a successful relationship, and men who want to be in a relationship or get married are over 30 percent more likely to be part of a successful relationship.

Ignore the noise.

Unfortunately, single people are subjected to a constant stream of unwelcome information from family members, married friends, complete strangers and every corner of the internet. On any given day you can find a story about an online dater who was matched with her brother, a guy who scammed women into providing him with free pizza dinners for a month, and a New Yorker who hacked online dating using math to finally find a man - it's exhausting. Then we have the lifestyle articles, and the relationship experts preaching "Do's and Dont's"...it makes for a dizzying combination of conflicting views, doesn't it? Not to mention the recent Vanity Fair article about "The Dating Apocalypse", which highlights a group of 20-something finance-types who claim to sleep with ten women a week. Because, you know, modern technology. Meanwhile, you're a good guy and can't even get a message back?

That stuff is not real life, so don't feel bad. This is a group of kids who've seen American Psycho too many times and want to pretend they're Patrick Bateman. So try ignoring the advice (except for mine of course), forget the number of messages in your inbox, tell your ego to take a seat for a minute and just message that hot guy with the puppy - it could be love.

It may be a huge dating pool out there, but when it comes to the hysteria that still seems to surround online dating, I assure you, it's not that deep.

It was a BIG week for fashion. Not only was it New York Fashion Week, but it was also the Toronto Film Festival, so you can believe that all the major stars turned it up for red carpet appearances, runway shows and big parties.

Kiernan Shipka wore multiple swoon-worthy looks, but our favorite had to be her skirt-over-pants outfit. Sandra Bullock hit a home run in a black David Koma dress and Zendaya Coleman taught us that sometimes sparkle is the only way to go.

Check out all the best-dressed looks from the past week and let us know which one is your favorite.
