Yup, Suri Cruise Hung Out With Hillary Clinton

Suri Cruise's march toward the White House continues. Or, wait ...

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' young daughter met presidential candidate Hillary Clinton Thursday night, at a fundraiser co-hosted by Chelsea Clinton and Drew Barrymore. Holmes shared a mother-daughter picture of her and Suri alongside the Clinton women to Instagram.

Like book club, but different!

"Mothers and daughters #wearewithhillary," Holmes wrote in the caption of the Clinton photo.

We can only imagine the fascinating conversation that went on, but honestly, Suri looks right at home. Cruise 2056?

The fundraiser is but the latest of cool events Holmes has attended alongside her 9-year-old daughter. In September, the two were spotted at the 2015 Global Citizen festival, which works to bring awareness to social issues like extreme poverty. And before that, they enjoyed themselves at the Kids' Choice Awards.

10 Awesome Perks of Medical Hair Loss

$
0
0
Lets face it, when it comes to medical hair loss there are a lot of negatives. An individual's hair is a focal point for society, and is often one of their most beloved physical traits. Losing that familiar identity can be a rough transition, especially when it's forced upon you by an illness you never asked for. I recently found myself bald while receiving chemotherapy for an autoimmune disease called Systemic Sclerosis. (Yes, chemotherapy is used in other illness besides cancer, read about it here!) Once a woman who spent hours primping her features to perfection, I now found myself with a very conspicuous, very shiny bald head. I have decided however, that there are actually some pretty awesome perks to rocking the bald look!

1. Inclement weather doesn't bother me in the least!

Pouring rains, heavy winds? Bring it on! I no longer have to hide a perfectly executed Pinterest inspired hair-do under an umbrella or hood. No longer do I worry about the wind tangling my curly locks in my favorite statement necklace. My bald head fears no act of mother nature -- well besides snow, that can get pretty cold!

2. I can try on as many shirts at Target as I want!

Worried about messing up that perfect top knot? Not me! I can pull as many t-shirts, dresses, and sweaters over my slick head as I please -- with no consequences. I don't worry about catching my hair in that adorably buttoned top, or ruining my pony tail on a built in necklace collar. Target has an unlimited dressing room item amount, and I am about to go for the record!

3. I can sleep in another half hour every morning!

I used to take about half hour every morning to play with my hair. Maybe try a new style from my favorite magazine, or push in a few bobby pins. I would straighten my bangs, curl the rest, or add in a cute headband for the day. Creating a flawless look to match my style was something I truly enjoyed -- but you know what I enjoy even more? SLEEP! No hair means no prep. I hit that snooze button with gusto every morning! Take that chemo!

4. Fancy events are so much less of a hassle!

Worried about how to achieve that detailed 50's hairstyle with your new tea length party dress? Nope! I just slap on my fancy outfit and make sure my red lipstick and cat eye liner are on point! I don't have to deal with the tricky correlation of hair and outfits any longer. Saving time, money, and possibly the outfit, if I forgot to put it on after I started in on my luscious locks. Don't you just hate when you have to wiggle your cute top over your already done up 'do' just to get make-up and hair product all over it!?

5. My sink drains have never run smoother!

This should probably be number one. (I am sure my landlords like me a lot more as a bald woman than they did when I had hair!) No more snaking out the tub drain before every shower, and no more sinks backing up when I try to wash my face at night. Drano is no longer on my shopping list!

6. I save tons of money on hair care products!

Shampoo, conditioner, gel, hairspray? No thanks! Not to mention the hairdryers, hair straighteners, curling irons, etc! I cannot even begin to tell you how much money I have spent on those babies, too much if you ask me. Not to mention all the money I save on salon hair cuts!

7. I never have bad hair days!

Please -- I woke up like this!

8. My showers last about two minutes!

Body washed? Done. Need I say more?

9. I never have to worry about bad hair cuts!

Remember leaving the salon in tears over those bangs that were too short, or the pixie that was suppose to be below your ears, not above them? Yes, we all do. (I am sure each of you reading cringed at your computer remembering your last botched hair style.) Yikes. No longer am I susceptible to a stylist who: "does this kind of cut all the time honey!"

10. I still look flawless when I work out!

Okay, lets be honest, I don't work out! (I mean who has energy for that on chemo!?) However, if I did hit the gym I wouldn't ever have to worry about that cute guy on the treadmill seeing me sweating like a pig. I don't shed a moment of worry over dripping, wet hair from perspiration. My bald head looks even better when it's glistening from physical exertion!

Common Beauty Ingredient Might Actually Help You Live Longer

$

Ingredients in your anti-aging lotions and potions might actually be good for something other than giving you a more youthful appearance. A new study says that a common ingredient found in skincare products might have life-lengthening benefits.

Researchers from the University of Liverpool have identified a few compounds that mimic the longevity benefits of a calorie-restriction diet. Calorie restriction, in some studies, has been shown to slow the aging process in some animals and reduce the risk for age-related disease.

The researchers tested five compounds on nematode worms -- and four of them were shown to increase the life span of the worms by around 20 percent. Among these compounds was allantoin, a moisturizing ingredient that comes from the comfrey plant, and helps new skin cells grow. Allantoin is commonly found in skincare products, used to help moisturize and prevent dry skin.

And besides showing life-lengthening benefits, the compounds seemed to keep the worms healthier for longer.

“Calorie restriction has been shown to have health benefits in humans and, while more work is necessary, our findings could potentially result in human therapies for age-related diseases," lead researcher João Pedro de Magalhães said in a statement.

Researchers say the findings provide hope for future research and for the discovery of treating age-related health problems.

It's important to note that not all researchers are proponents of using calorie restriction as a means of increasing longevity. A 2012 study found that calorie restriction can help stave off certain diseases in animals, but that doesn't necessarily translate to a longer life.

Therefore, simply applying the allantoin-containing face creams may not boost your lifespan, but researchers do say further research is needed to pinpoint exactly how the compounds could be used in humans.

Khloe Kardashian Poses Nude In Sexy St. Barts Shoot

Khloe Kardashian is baring it all in a sexy nude shoot posted on her website and app on Friday.

The allegedly "impromptu" photo shoot went down while Kardashian went on vacation in St. Barts this past August and reportedly involved her makeup artist "literally blowing glitter up [her] ass."

A photo posted by Khloé (@khloekardrashian) on

Kardashian has undergone a total body transformation since splitting with Lamar Odom in December 2013. Though she's about to help the heartbroken get a "revenge body" on a new reality show, the 31-year-old wrote that she was "shocked [she] had the courage to do this shoot," and claimed it was a first for her -- apparently forgetting that time she posed nude for PETA in 2011.

It's been a banner month for Kardashian nudity. Recall that in early December, Kim posted nude photos from her "edgy" desert shoot to her website, and just this week, Kourtney shared a previously unseen photo from her nude Vanity Fair shoot with photographer Brian Bowen Smith.

Meet The Woman Making History As Penthouse's First Plus-Size Model

Kelly Shibari might not fit the profile of a model one would expect to see in a spread for Penthouse. The magazine is historically known for promoting conventional -- i.e. whitewashed, ultra-thin and youth-obsessed -- standards of beauty throughout its 50-year history.

Shibari is 43, half-Asian and full-figured. The fact that she is considered "unique" among adult entertainers makes her all the more appealing to a growing fanbase, signifying welcome change within the adult entertainment industry.

The model and adult film actress will be the first plus-size woman ever featured in Penthouse in an issue that hits stands Dec. 22. The spread, called "The Girl Show," features Shibari alongside two slender models in a sideshow circus-inspired photo series.

Shibari, who grew up in Japan, hasn't always been as confident as she is today. She told The Huffington Post that she was a victim of bullying throughout her formative years.

"The beauty standard in Japan at that time was that women were very small and petite and slender and didn’t really have a lot of curves," she said. "I was probably a little bit chubbier than most of the girls. I’m half-Irish so I developed early, and so when you’re in sixth grade and you have a C cup, all the kids automatically assume it’s just because you’re fat. And so, I was bullied."

It wasn't until she came to the U.S. for college in 1989 and saw people around her with similar body shapes that she began to build her confidence.

After finishing school, she spent more than a decade as a roadie, production designer and art director before foraying into pornography, initially as a way to make money while productions were halted during the 2007 Writers' Strike.

A friend who did amateur pornography told her about an emerging demand for plus-size porn performers, instructing her to look at some websites that featured bigger women. Shibari grew up in a household fairly accepting of sexuality and nudity, and had always thought about seeing herself in the pages of a gentleman's magazine, but never dreamed it could be a reality.

"I looked at the websites and I realized that these were dedicated to plus-size women who were not, like, the butt of a joke. And I was like 'Well, OK, sounds like fun. I’m kind of a bucket list girl. So I’ll send my pictures in. If they take me, then I’ll do it.'”

In 2014, Shibari was hired to model for a spread in Penthouse Forum, an offshoot of the Penthouse brand that caters to couples erotica.

The issue sold out quickly, with positive feedback from women and plus-size advocates, prompting the Penthouse brand to put Shibari in its main publication, Penthouse.

"Adding a plus-sized girl, which is something they’ve never done before, is kind of a scary thing," said Shibari. "On one hand, you’re worried about if people are going to be like, 'Ugh, I’m never going to buy the magazine again.'"

"On the other hand, you’ve got all of the size [acceptance] advocates and the people who are finally coming out of the proverbial closet and saying that they actually do like plus-size men and women, and all of the feminists saying, 'yes, size acceptance, beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.'"

Overall, Shibari feels positive about the upcoming Penthouse issue.

"I’m sure that people there will be some people who come out of the woodwork who will be like, 'Oh God, I can’t believe they put a fat girl in the magazine,'" she said. "But I think that the way things have been going the past few years, with size acceptance and more plus-sized men and women being in the mainstream spotlight as well as in adult entertainment, I think that the reception will be good."

The January 2016 issue of Penthouse will appear on news stands wherever adult magazines are sold on December 22, 2015.

Bar Refaeli Investigated For Alleged Tax Fraud

Israeli tax officials are investigating supermodel Bar Refaeli and her mother for possible tax fraud. The pair stand accused of hiding millions of dollars in income from the authorities.

The Israeli authorities have expressed particular concern over free Range Rover and Lexus vehicles the 30-year-old model allegedly received in exchange for promoting those brands.

Refaeli and her mother, Tzipora Refaeli, were detained for questioning on the tax matter Thursday, but were quickly released on a $193,000 bond, the BBC reports. They have also been ordered not to leave Israel in the next six months without informing authorities.

According to NBC News, Refaeli's lawyers are aggressively contesting the tax officials' claims. They say that the current investigation stems from a long-running dispute over whether Refaeli ought to pay taxes in Israel, where she was born, or abroad, where she earns much of her money.

"Soon everything will be clear," Giora Adereth, an attorney for Refaeli's mother, told NBC News. "There is no drama and no problem."

The authorities claim that Refaeli has been residing in luxury apartments in Tel Aviv for years, but concealing her residency (by holding the apartments under her mother and brothers' names) to avoid paying taxes in Israel.

Refaeli's name became familiar in America when she dated Leonardo DiCaprio for several years. She married Israeli billionaire businessman Adi Ezra in a private ceremony in September.

Miss Spain Crowned Miss World 2015 (PHOTOS)

A 23-year-old student from Barcelona has been crowned Miss World 2015.

Mireia Lalaguna Royo, 23, received the crown Saturday night in Sanya, China, marking the first time Spain has won in the 65 years the competition has been running, The Associated Press reports.

Lalaguna has a pharmacology degree and is planning to get a master’s degree in nutrition.

Russia’s Sofia Nikitchuk was the runner-up, and Indonesia's Maria Harfanti came in third.

This year’s Miss World competition ignited controversy after China barred Canadian contestant Anastasia Lin from entering the country. Lin believes the reason is because she’s been publicly critical of Chinese human rights abuses in the past and because she practices Falun Gong, a spiritual practice persecuted in China.

Gigi Hadid And Zayn Malik Fuel Relationship Rumors On Instagram

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik sure know how to set the rumor mill abuzz.

Over the weekend, the former One Directioner shared a photo on Instagram of a Polaroid picture featuring himself and the supermodel getting pretty cozy. In the snap, Zayn appears with his eyes closed while Gigi presses her lips against his face and wraps her hands around his head.

Of course, to keep things mysterious, Zayn opted to share the pic sans caption.

A photo posted by Zayn Malik (@zayn) on

The two, who some believe are dating, were first spotted together at an American Music Awards after-party in November. Then, they were seen again a couple days later enjoying an evening with Gigi's sister Bella at Los Angeles restaurant The Nice Guy.

A source told E! the pair "couldn't keep their hands off each other" the entire time they were out.

They were spotted a third time leaving The Nice Guy later that month, this time holding hands. They even coordinated their outfits!

Neither party has officially confirmed their relationship, but we have a feeling that could change very soon.

We have reached out to both Zayn's and Gigi's reps for comment.

Miss Iraq Pageant Winner Crowned For First Time In More Than 40 Years

For the first time in more than 40 years, Iraq has crowned a Miss Iraq beauty pageant winner.

Shaima Qassim, a 20-year-old economics student from Kirkuk, clinched the shimmering gold-and-crystal crown Saturday after outshining more than 150 candidates -- and overcoming death threats that reportedly caused many others to drop out.

Since the pageant’s last winner in 1972, the event had been canceled amid unrest in the Middle East. Over the years, other pageants had been held under different names, but none of these contests were in accordance with international standards, NBC reported.

This year's Miss Iraq event was constructed in a way that would allow its winner to potentially go on to compete internationally, with pageants like Miss World having removed the swimsuit segment of its competition in late 2014.

Even after the Miss Iraq pageant cut swimsuits from the contestants' generally conservative attire, religious extremists threatened violence, forcing the pageant to be pushed back two months in October, The Independent reported.

Fifteen aspiring beauty queens dropped out over threats, Iraqi fashion designer Senan Kamel, a pageant spokesman and judge, told NBC in October.

In the end, Saturday night saw eight brave and beautiful finalists strutting across a Baghdad hotel’s stage in high heels and sleeveless -- but below-the-knee -- evening gowns.

"I'm very happy to see Iraq going forward," Qassim told Agence France-Presse shortly after her crowning before a room full of jovial admirers with armed guards at the door. "This event was huge and put a smile on the faces of the Iraqis."

The green-eyed stunner, speaking to NBC in October, said that like the other candidates, she has been personally affected by the ongoing violence in their area.

Two of her cousins were serving Iraq’s federal police when they were killed while fighting ISIS militants, she said.

Steve Harvey Crowns The Wrong Miss Universe In Awkward Live TV Gaffe

For two whole minutes on Sunday night, Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez celebrated what she believed to be her victory at the 2015 Miss Universe Pageant. With tears in her eyes and a gleaming crown on her head, she waved and smiled at the crowd, her national flag gripped in her hand.

But Gutierrez’s celebration was suddenly, and awkwardly, interrupted by pageant host Steve Harvey. Harvey, it turned out, had announced the wrong contestant. Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach had, in fact, won the crown.

“Uh, I have to apologize,” a visibly-unsettled Harvey told the still-cheering crowd. “The first runner-up is Colombia. Miss Universe 2015 is Philippines.”

As footage of the event showed, the moments following Harvey’s clarification were marked by utter confusion and shock.

A visibly-stunned Wurtzbach walked to the front of the stage, her eyes wide in disbelief. Once more in the spotlight, she stood for several awkward seconds next to the still-crowned Gutierrez, both seemingly at a loss as to what to do next.

“Listen folks, let me just take control of this,” Harvey told the audience after a long pause. “This is exactly what’s on the card. I will take responsibility for this. It was my mistake. A horrible mistake.”

The crown was then lifted from Miss Colombia's head and given to Miss Philippines.

Twitter was immediately deluged with reactions from people around the world:

Harvey also took to Twitter to apologize for his error, calling it a “huge mistake.”

“I feel terrible,” he wrote.

As Twitter users quickly noted, however, the host misspelled Colombia and Philippines in his original apology tweet.

Harvey has since replaced the erroneous tweet, and apologized to fans as well.

Many social media users leapt to Harvey's defense in the wake of the TV gaffe.

“Mistakes happen,” wrote makeup artist Alexys Fleming.

Mario Lopez, a former host of Miss Universe, also expressed his support.
