Pink satin is not just for bad high school prom dresses anymore.

Jennifer Lopez looked stunning in a bubblegum-hued minidress for a filming of "American Idol" Thursday in Hollywood. The 46-year-old shared a photo of her outfit on Instagram, captioning it with her own take on a "Mean Girls" adage.

"On Thursdays we wear pink," she wrote.

Regina George would be proud.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend headed out for a basketball game Thursday night, and were all sorts of cute in the front row.

The celebrity couple enjoyed an evening out at the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers game at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. It looked like pretty much the best date night ever.

There were selfies:

The Duchess Of Cambridge Ditches Her Coats For A Playful Print

It's been a long, cold winter of hat- and coat-wearing for the Duchess of Cambridge, the royal formerly known as Kate Middleton. But now it appears spring has sprung -- when it comes to her outfits, anyway!

The duchess and Prince William were in London Friday visiting the mentoring program XLP, a charity that provides emotional support for children dealing with emotional and behavioral struggles.

The duchess chose a designer she's never worn before for the occasion, as many fan sites noted. She picked a brand new, red-and-white checkered top with buttons and a coordinating pleated skirt from bespoke womenswear line Eponine's Spring/Summer 2016 collection.

According to the brand, Eponine is "inspired by the elegant lines of the Fifties and the unexpected styles of the Sixties." That inspiration is totally apparent in this suit, which retails around $1,700, a spokeswoman for the line confirmed to The Huffington Post.

Kate paired the outfit with black pumps, a clutch and those famous flowy locks.

We know spring doesn't officially start until March 20, but we'll take this as a cue to whip out our cute coordinates, too.

This Lane Bryant Ad Was Rejected From Major Networks Because ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Huh?

A gorgeous new Lane Bryant television ad featuring models Ashley Graham, Tara Lynn, Denise Bidot and Georgia Pratt in the brand's underwear (nothing we haven't already seen from Victoria's Secret), including a shot of new mom Lynn breastfeeding her baby, was rejected by major networks.

TMZ first reported ABC and NBC turned down the #ThisBody Lane Bryant ad "as is." A representative for Lane Bryant confirmed this to The Huffington Post and provided a statement from NBC about why they declined.

"The first edit was turned down out of hand and while we clearly created the commercial to air we will not edit it as we believe it’s a beautiful and appropriate expression of women’s bodies," read the statement from NBC. "We do plan to air this through our own media and through digital channels where they find it as acceptable."

Lane Bryant shared the video on their Facebook page, along with a pointed message: "The networks didn’t want you to see this. But we do. Share. Tag. Show everyone what #ThisBody’s made for."

In a statement sent to HuffPost, Lane Bryant described the significance of the empowering ad.

The THIS BODY campaign was meant to be a fun way for us to celebrate and honor women of all shapes and sizes. What is too much for some does not hold true for others. All women should be celebrated and feel empowered to express themselves as they see fit. We want her to know she can attract as much media attention, look just as striking as any woman, and decide what beautiful means to her. The THIS BODY commercial holds nothing back. It is a true celebration of women of all sizes doing what makes THEM feel beautiful whether its breastfeeding their newborn, flaunting their bodies the way they see fit, breaking down barriers all around and simply being who they are or want to be!

The company's #ThisBody campaign launched last month, and they dubbed it an "overdue, unavoidable, and a rapidly progressing cultural (r)evolution" for body positivity and shifted perception, according to Refinery29.

Sorry Mom: Getting Lots Of Tattoos Could Have A Surprising Health Benefit

The next time Grandma criticizes your multiple tattoos, tell her they might just be a sign that you're healthy.

A new study published in the American Journal of Human Biology last week -- and getting lots of ink since then -- suggests that people with multiple tattoos have a better immune response to new tattoos than people who are getting tattooed for the first time.

According to the research, "Tattooing may stimulate the immune system in a manner similar to a vaccination to be less susceptible to future pathogenic infiltration." While the study has a small sample size and is not yet conclusive, it provides fascinating evidence of how well the body can be "trained" to respond to stresses over time.

For the study, researchers at the University of Alabama collected saliva samples from 29 volunteers before and after they were given tattoos. Nine of those participants were receiving tattoos for the first time. They then analyzed the participants' saliva samples for levels of immunoglobulin A, an antibody that lines portions of our gastrointestinal and respiratory systems, and cortisol, a stress hormone known to suppress immune response.

“Immunoglobulin A is a front line of defense against some of the common infections we encounter, like colds,” Christopher Lynn, an associate professor of anthropology at the University of Alabama who co-authored the study, wrote in a press release.

According to the researchers, the saliva samples from first-time tattoo recipients showed their levels of immunoglobulin A declined much more dramatically than they did for the people who already had multiple tattoos, suggesting that people with more "tattoo experience" had immune systems that were more habituated to that kind of stress.

Lynn isn't suggesting people go out and get full sleeve tattoos to ward off colds and the flu just yet. In fact, he said, a person's first tattoo can make them more, not less, susceptible to illness.

“They don’t just hurt while you get the tattoo, but they can exhaust you,” he said in the release. “It’s easier to get sick. You can catch a cold because your defenses are lowered from the stress of getting a tattoo.”

Lynn compares the body's response to getting a tattoo for the first time to an out-of-shape person exercising in the gym: Muscles are sore at first, but the pain fades with repeated workouts.

“After the stress response, your body returns to an equilibrium,” Lynn said. “However, if you continue to stress your body over and over again, instead of returning to the same set point, it adjusts its internal set points and moves higher.”

But other experts are poking holes in the findings. Dr. Sylvie Stacy, an Alabama physician who specializes in preventive medicine, points out the study used a small sample of subjects and investigated only a couple of the many substances involved in immune response in the body.

"I would not encourage anyone to get a tattoo for the sake of immune system benefit," she told HuffPost. "Getting a tattoo carries significant risks -- including infection, scarring, and potential adverse psychological effects. It’s very unlikely that these risks are outweighed by any boost in immune system response."

Lynn acknowledges that the study's findings could also mean that people who are already in good health are more likely to get multiple tattoos, because their immune systems are better at recovering from them and their past tattoo experiences have been more satisfactory.

"They probably already had good immune systems, and we think the tattoos draw attention to this," he told HuffPost. "We also think that, among those with good immune systems who are into tattooing culture and get tattoos, the quick healing and positive reaction may reinforce an interest in getting more."

Conversely, people who had a bad immune reaction to their first tattoo aren't as likely to come back for more. The study points out that historically, tattoos appeared to be a way for healthy, "attractive" people to differentiate themselves from less-healthy peers, and that could still be the case -- multiple tattoos mean you can handle the pain.

Of course, the research didn't involve people who chose not to get any tattoos at all. "We did not collect biomarkers (saliva) from non-tattooed [people] because we were comparing the pre-post tattoo session change, not absolute values related to immunity," Lynn said. "It would be difficult to come up with a scenario that is similar to tattooing to do pre-post testing of non-tattooed."

While the University of Alabama study takes a specific look at immune responses to tattoos, however, it also contributes to existing research on different techniques that could sharpen the effectiveness of vaccines, such as injecting them in a way that's similar to how tattoo artists inject ink under the skin.

"There is ... evidence suggesting that applying a vaccine with a tattoo approach -- several small punctures, not one big shot -- may increase the effectiveness," Lynn said.

The research is piquing the interest of medical experts like Dr. Amesh Adalia, a board-certified infectious disease physician at the University of Pittsburgh.

"Such a finding is provocative and future studies are required that assess other arms of the immune system, reproduce the results, and gauge the real-world effects in terms of vaccine responses as well as frequency of infections in tattoo recipients," Adalia said by email.

If anything, Lynn hopes the study reduces the stigma associated with getting inked up. "We'd like to take tattoos out of the negative subcultural niche of bikers, sailors and risky behavior," he said.

From Undone to Redone: What the Global Fashion Shows Are Telling Us About Beauty Trends

$
0
0
The fashion shows of New York, London, Milan, and Paris allow designers to show their new wares to the world. Magazine editors are on the front row to type up abiding themes, turning them into the fashion trends we follow. Hair and makeup trends also come from these runways, as designers employ the world's best stylists to spearhead innovative and appropriate beauty looks.

Often, shifts are subtle. Movements take hold for a few years, continually evolving until changing moods inspire a different perspective.

Ombré hair color is a fine example. More than five years ago it started a trend for high-contrast colors, with classic dark and light tones visually juxtaposed. But as Main Street adopted the trend, the fashionable elite moved on, and suddenly, instead of ombré, fashionistas were all about sombre and color melting and high contrast pastels. The eye of the trend had shifted, evolved, yet it was still focused on creating high levels of contrast in hair color.

This year there is a real change of direction. Three-tone brights rule the runways no more. The Oscars red carpet also signaled the shift, with most of Hollywood's glamor girls opting for one-tone hues. It is the end of contrast and the beginning of a movement towards sophisticated colors with polish, shine and gloss. Girls about town with pre-existing dip-dyes will blend their two-or-three-toned hues with natural shades, creating refined and harmonized effects, as rich as they are fluid. Hair colors, then, are getting softer, and so are placements. There's a resurgence of traditional highlights and single shades; bright hues that once went POP will now be mixed with natural-looking colors to create understated, tone on tone effects.

Hair cuts, shapes and styles are enjoying a similar shift. After years of deconstructed, undone hairstyles -- think of all those messy textures and the buzzwords that marketers have bombarded you with, like bedhead, beachy, boho -- the runways, award season, and New York City street style all point to bolder lines, more strength and structure in the cut and style. Instead of wearing a bob that is aggressively deconstructed, featuring diffused, tapered edges and lots of disorderly, undone, perfectly imperfect texture through the interior, fashionable types are switching allegiances, replacing their disheveled looks with the clean cut, architectural lines of classic geometric shapes. It's not only bobs. All lengths of hair, all shapes, all styles will return to being more dressed up than dressed down. Instead of getting UNDONE hairstyles are getting REDONE.

As such, up-styles are also looking more structured. Casual buns and braids -- topknot, anyone? -- are being replaced by elaborate designs. From the runways, the Chiara Boni La Petite Robe double twist set the tone for the trend to snowball into the Oscars, where Alicia Vikander's striking half-up, half down 'do and Daisy Ridley's intricate and architectural double-knot-twist epitomized the re-found love of the polished, the constructed, and the sophisticated.

Functionally, this pushes the idea of wash and wear and the devil-may-care to the back burner -- in favor of a redux for blow-drying and styling tailor-made looks with product. Indicatively, perhaps, in 2016 the best-selling product at ARROJO Studio salon locations is Fierce Firm Hold Hairspray, a product to anchor classic up and down styles with firm hold and glossy shine. For the last few years, Dry Shampoo, a product more suitable for deconstructed textures, was the perennial number one.

Whatever the aesthetic attitude of the time, remember that trends can be fickle. You think long hair is the coolest and then Rihanna and Katy Perry post pictures of pixie cuts on Instagram and -- wham! -- there's a new style du jour. Still, if you pay close attention, there are always new emerging themes coming from the fashion and beauty industries, and they are usually more robust than the whims of a celebrity. Staying close to the pulse for inspiration, while knowing what best suits your personality and lifestyle so you can adapt the trend to you, is the best way to make your beauty more fashionable.

Find Out: What Type of Man You Were Meant to Love!

$

2016-03-11-1457709651-7972521-ManWomanEJ.jpg
Have you ever said to a friend, "He's such a great guy! He has lots of the qualities I love about my father. I'm sure he'd make a great partner, but he just doesn't excite me." Or, "On paper, he's the perfect man in so many ways. But I just don't feel real passion for him!"

There is often a difference between being attracted to someone because you realize and appreciate - all their fine qualities versus, feeling a deep love and passion for them.

Why is that?

Your horoscope may provide you with the answers you're looking for. I know...I know! You're thinking, "My horoscope! Puleeeeeeeeeeze!" Yet, the reality for many women is that they can't seem to find a man (or woman) who has both the basic (practical) qualities that are needed for a successful relationship, plus those qualities that arouse them on a more profound level. To those women I say: Why settle? You deserve a relationship that satisfies you in ways that are unique to your needs. For those who are open-minded, it's time to look elsewhere (i.e. your horoscope) to learn what type of man (or woman) would truly attract you as a mate.

The planets in your birth chart can tell you a great deal about who will be attractive to you in a traditional sense, as well as inspire your love and passion. Here are the planets that affect your attraction to another person.

In a woman's horoscope, her Sun Sign is the best indicator of the type of man she sees, in a "traditional" sense, as her life partner and the potential father of her children; and as fitting a masculine image she can identify with as right for her. The Mars Sign in her horoscope indicates the kind of man she desires and feel great sexual passion.

Of course, it's a wonderful if two people have compatible Sun and Moon sign connections. But as a woman, if you want to know the kind of man who would inspire your love and excite you, find out what sign in your horoscope - your SUN and MARS are in. (Note: At the end of this article, you can learn how to find which sign your Sun and Mars are in your horoscope.)

For Women - Here Are the 12 Signs Your Sun & Mars May Be In

After you learn the sign your Sun & Mars are in, look at the description below to learn about the qualities of a man you will be attracted to as a romantic partner, and the type you're most suited to have an intimate relationship of love and passion.

If Your Sun or Mars are in Aries - You are turned on by a man who is brash, bold and direct. He has high energy and is likely to be impulsive and impatient (like you). He's attractive because he's a doer and enjoys adventure. You are drawn to a strong or athletic "macho" type. Because you are aggressive, you like a man who loves competition, challenges and even enjoys a good fight now and then. Make up sex works well for you!

If Your Sun or Mars are in Taurus - You're attracted to a strong-willed, yet sensual man who is very down-to-earth, enjoys the finer pleasures and comforts of life. He has an appreciation for fine food and music. You're drawn to his scent or may find that his voice arouses you. Because you're strong-willed and pursue sensual pleasure, you like to be dominated by a strong, lusty man who has the patience and appetite for prolonged foreplay that will satisfy your appetites.

If Your Sun or Mars are in Gemini - Because communication is important to you - you're drawn to a man who is bright, witty and a great conversationalist. He's a bit of a "smooth-talker" who entertains you and keeps you guessing. It's the way he stimulates you intellectually and arouses your curiosity that sparks your romantic interest in him. His mind is what sexually arouses you - not his physical attractiveness. Since you enjoy your freedom, you're often attracted to more than one man. Juggling two relationships can be fun and exciting.

If Your Sun or Mars are in Cancer - You're attracted to a sensitive and understanding man who makes you feel emotionally and financially safe and secure. You are drawn to a man who you (unconsciously) perceive as a father figure or consciously see as the "father of your children." A man who needs to be "mothered" may also catch your eye. He's especially attractive if he cooks (or likes your cooking) and wants a cozy, comfortable home. Your sexual attraction is strongest when a man is sensitive and makes you feel protected and secure.

If Your Sun or Mars are in Leo - A man who radiates warmth, confidence, and charisma arouses you. He is generous, and not afraid to show his affectionate side. He's especially attractive, if he's a creative type (actor, artist, musician) or a leader in some way. There is a sense of drama about him that you like. Since you are a princess, you expect him to court you like a romantic prince should. You like a man who admires and praises you (and God forbid: never criticizes you). If he shows you this royal treatment he can have his way with you.

If Your Sun or Mars are in Virgo - You're attracted to a practical, reliable, down-to-earth man who is intelligent and well mannered, especially one who is neat and clean. When you meet a man, you'll probably check out his dress, shoes (and whether his fingernails are clean). Since you're into perfection, you are drawn to men you can "fix" and make even more perfect. You expect a man to avoid being crude in public, preferring that he wait until you are behind closed doors to show you his lusty, earth side.

If Your Sun or Mars are in Libra - You're attracted to a charming, polite and classy man who is well spoken, even a smooth-talker, especially if he's good-looking and well dressed. He enjoys socializing, and appreciates culture and the arts; and not turn you off by being crude or making a scene. You are sexually aroused by romantic gestures (flowers) or beauty (a man with a great physique), anything that appeals to your senses. It's what puts you in the mood for love and romance.

If Your Sun or Mars are in Scorpio - You're magnetically attracted to a man who (like you) seems secretive, intense and smolders with passion and sexuality, especially if he seems powerful or dangerous. Because you are strong-willed, possessive (and controlling), you like these same qualities in a man. You are emotionally excited by a romantic connection with someone you can engage in a psychological power struggle for control that may lead to a profound sexual connection.

If Your Sun or Mars are in Sagittarius - You're attracted to a man with morals and high ideals who operates his life with honesty and integrity - and even more so, if he can be a teacher or spiritual guide. You enjoy his great sense of humor. You want honesty, friendship, and fun in a relationship. You yearn to share adventures or sports or philosophical discussions together, especially if you can "be buddies." Because you're attracted to men of different cultures, a foreign man can be a sexual turn-on for you.

If Your Sun or Mars are in Capricorn - You're attracted to an ambitious man (who may be much older or younger) who is socially acceptable. Because you're a "show-me-the-money" girl, you're drawn to wealth, status and power and would likely choose an established career man over a penniless guy with good looks but poor prospects. You "play for keeps," and are only interested in serious romantic partners who you can see a future. While you may be slow to show your affections, once you commit, behind closed doors, you show your lusty side.

If Your Sun or Mars are in Aquarius - You're attracted to a man who is intellectually interesting, opened minded and willing to experiment, yet able to be your friend. He is exciting because he seems so unconventional and even unpredictable. You're intrigued with him because he is an idealist and rebel, likely to have views that would shock your parents or friends. Because you are original and at times unpredictable, you have no interest in boring men who seem rigid. He's sexually exciting because he's willing to experiment with new and different ways.

If Your Sun or Mars are in Pisces - You're attracted to a man who is both romantic and sensitive, often a dreamer. If he appears a bit lost and confused, you find that intriguing. This can result in your being attracted to a man who needs to be saved or one you hope will be your savior. As a hopeless romantic, you dream of a romantic "knight in shining armor," who comes into your life and sweeps you off your feet. Behind closed doors you are sensuous and bewitching ready to satisfy his fantasies.

Expert Explains Why A Beard Is Technically Pubic Hair On Your Face

$
0
0

Sorry to break it to you, but that beard on your face is technically pubic hair.

Hear us out:

  1. The term puberty is a direct descendant of "pubertatum," the Latin word for "age of maturity" and manhood, as well as "pubertis" ("adult, full-grown, manly"). The Middle English term for pubic hair was "neþir berd." So, etymologically speaking, any hair that grows in a place it didn't before puberty is pubic.

  2. The follicles of beard hair are composed similarly to the hair on a man's groin and armpits, according to Dr. Bobby Buka, founder of Greenwich Village Dermatology and section chief at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. "The concentration of sebaceous glands is high in several areas," he said: the face, groin and armpits. "So the hair characteristics in those areas are very similar, in terms of thickness of shaft and quality of hair."

  3. It is believed that our groin hair has stayed thick (while most of our body hair has thinned out over our evolutionary time) so that it can release pheromones and attract mates, and your beard does it, too. Sebaceous glands are higher on your face than your scalp, Buka said, which leads to an increase in sebum, which carries pheromones. And since it's richer in sebum, and richer in pheromones, your beard has a distinct smell. "Your signature smell comes more from beard hair than from scalp hair. The base of a hair follicle is much bigger on your face, which is why it looks thicker on your face than your scalp hair. But it’s considered the same type of process, slightly different growth rates but same morphology otherwise," Buka said.

In conclusion: If you have a beard, you have pubes on your face. Or, maybe your privates have a little beard on them down there. But for what it's worth, does Buka personally refer to beard hair as pubic hair? "No, I do not," he said.

Perhaps it's all semantics.

Not-retired supermodel Cindy Crawford and her daughter Kaia Gerber have us seeing double -- in the best possible way.

The dynamic duo are Vogue Paris' spitting-image cover stars for April, looking like two biker babes with matching wind-blown hair, equally fierce brows, hoop earrings, winning smiles and the same leather jackets.

Photographed by Mario Testino, the new spread marks just another milestone in Gerber's blossoming modeling career. The 14-year-old, who has appeared in the likes of Vogue Italia and CR Fashion Book, now stars in Alexander Wang's spring/summer 2016 campaign as a member of the brand's "Wang Squad."

Kylie Jenner is ready for her close-up, all day, everyday.

The "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star shared a series of swimsuit photos on Instagram Sunday night, showing us all that she can turn even the most average of days spent by the pool into an on-brand photo shoot. Oh, and she also made sure to remind us all that she's an adult with a real tattoo.

In the pics, the 18-year-old poses by the pool in a sporty one-piece Chanel swimsuit, which reveals the ink on her hip. (Oh, and nothing screams summer accessory like a furry hat, amiright?). The burgeoning lipstick mogul left the photos captionless, letting them speak for themselves.

President Obama's Body Image Comments Will Melt Your Heart

File this under: Love, love and more love.

President Barack Obama sat down with ballerina Misty Copeland for an eye-opening conversation with Time. Both pioneers in their respective fields, the pair chatted about obstacles they have overcome, issues of race and their legacies.

After pointing out the sheer absurdity that Copeland's body is considered "athletic" or "large" in the ballet world ("You're tiny!" he said), the president was asked if he notices that same body image pressure with his two daughters, Malia, 17 and Sasha, 14.

The proud father, who reportedly got choked up talking about his children at last week's state dinner, explained it's his wife Michelle --  and his relationship with her -- that promotes a healthy body image for the two young women.

“The fact that my daughters have got a tall gorgeous mom who has some curves, and that their father appreciates, I think is helpful," he said. "I do think that culture’s changing for the younger generation a little bit more… But it’s still a challenge.”

Sigh. Never change, you two.

It's no secret that fashion trends are constantly recycled, but what about beauty trends?

Well, according to a new video from Marie Claire, most of the current makeup trends that we know and love aren't all that new. The bold brows trend? Yeah, that was big in the 1960s. Orangey-red lipstick? Major in the 1940s.

Check out the video above to see how trends from back in the day are still huge in 2016.

In the previous HP article, we discussed how to find out "the type of man you were meant to love." For men, we now discuss the type of woman you were meant to love.

Have you ever said to a friend, "She's such a fabulous woman! She has lots of the qualities I love about my mother. I'm sure she'd make a great partner, but she just doesn't excite me." Or, "On paper, she's the perfect woman in so many ways. But I just don't feel real passion for her!"

There is, often, a difference between being attracted to someone because you see their fine qualities...versus feeling a more meaningful, lasting passion and love for them.

Why is that?

Look to Your Horoscope for Answers

The planets in your birth chart can tell you a great deal about who will be attractive to you in a traditional sense, as well as inspire your love and passion. Here are the planets that affect your attraction to another person.

In a man's chart, his Moon Sign is the best indicator of the type of woman he sees, in a "traditional" sense, as his life partner and the potential mother of his children; and as fitting the feminine image he is most comfortable with on an emotional level. His Venus Sign indicates the kind of woman he's romantically attracted to, will enjoy and love very deeply.

Of course, it's a wonderful if two people have compatible Sun and Moon sign connections. But as a man, if you want to know the kind of woman who would inspire your love and excite you, find out what sign in your horoscope - your MOON & VENUS are in. (At the end of this article, you can learn how to find which sign your Moon and Venus are in your horoscope.)

For Men - Here Are the 12 Signs Your Moon & Venus May Be In

After you learn the sign your Moon & Venus are in, look at the description below to learn about the qualities of a woman you will be attracted to as a romantic partner, and the type you're most suited to have an intimate relationship of love and passion.

If Your Moon or Venus are in Aries - You're attracted to a bold, independent woman who assertively goes after what she wants (especially if it's you). Her impulsive nature is appealing. You're likely to respect and encourage her to be her own person. You are turned on if she competes with you in games or sports, especially if she gives you a good match (even though you want to win). A fiery, passionate woman excites you. You enjoy being pursued or even seduced by her.

If Your Moon or Venus are in Taurus - You're attracted to an easy-going, earthy woman who is affectionate and likes to cuddle and kiss. You're drawn to her if she has a pleasant voice. You like a feminine female and find the "scent of a woman" arousing and sensual. It's a turn on if she enjoys great food, enjoyable music, loves nature and the outdoors. You feel sensual pleasure and emotional comfort with a woman who likes physical touch, affection and engaging in frequent passionate sex.

If Your Moon or Venus are in Gemini - You're attracted to a witty, interesting woman with a quick tongue, who stimulates your mind with great conversation, and doesn't bore you. Great communication is what's most important to you. You're drawn to a woman who is both a good talker and good listener. Curiosity keeps you interested, so a complex woman intrigues and engages you. Words are important to you, so you're sexually aroused by a woman who flirts with you; or tells you she loves you. You enjoy talking "dirty" in the bedroom.

If Your Moon or Venus are in Cancer - You're attracted to a woman who will comfort, care for you, and take care of your needs (i.e. who "mothers" you). It's a plus if she reminds you of your mother. Sharing a home with a woman makes you feel wanted and secure. You like the idea of being her protector and taking care of her, too. The nostalgic part of you yearns for an "old-fashioned girl," who you can share a house and create a family. You're sexually attracted to a woman with large breasts.

If Your Moon or Venus are in Leo - You're attracted to a striking or gorgeous woman whose glamorous manner make you proud to be with her. The fact that she's a bit of a drama queen is part of what you like. You're easily enticed by a woman who flatters your ego with compliments and praise. You need a woman who makes you feel admired and respected (and never criticizes). She must make you feel like a king by lavishing lots of attention and affection on you in an out of bed.

If Your Moon or Venus are in Virgo - You're attracted to a woman who looks neat, well-groomed and is conservatively dressed. You are drawn to her if she's honest, intelligent, practical, modest and loyal. You look for the perfect woman; if she's not, you're open to fixing her to make her more perfect. You can fall in love with a woman who becomes useful to you in ways that make her indispensable. You are turned sexually, if she's an earthy and skillful lover behind closed doors.

If Your Moon or Venus are in Libra - You're attracted to a pretty woman who is charming and feminine. While you seek harmony in a relationship, you have a need to engage in argument or conflict from time-to-time to keep your relationship interesting. You're not interested in a woman who is rude or crude. You are very turned onto a woman who is sensuous and romantic. She enjoys lighting a candle, putting on some romantic music and curling up on a couch with you, which is her invitation to make love.

If Your Moon or Venus are in Scorpio - You're attracted to an intense, passionate and strong-willed woman who seems both mysterious and powerful. Your connection to her brings into play psychological power struggles where one or both of you vie for control. You only respect a partner who can stand up to your strong personality. You're likely to test a woman you're romantically attracted and demand absolute fidelity. Sexuality is important to your relationship, so you are enticed by a woman who exudes a raw animal magnetism or an overly sexual appearance.

If Your Moon or Venus are in Sagittarius - You're attracted to a woman who is smart, honest and direct with a good sense of humor. She can be playful one minute and philosophical the next. You like a woman who is adventurous, into the outdoors, even athletic. You may be especially attracted to her if she's a foreigner of another culture. You need a great deal of independence, so you seek a woman who will give you your freedom. You enjoy platonic friendships and casual sex until you're totally committed.

If Your Moon or Venus are in Capricorn - You're attracted to a woman (often younger) who you see as being socially acceptable, enhancing your status, and even boosting your career. Or, you may be attracted to a powerful career woman (even an older one) who has attained great success. You are careful about taking emotional risks until you're certain that a woman is seriously committed to you. You are turned on when a woman is prim and proper in public but behind closed doors is earthy and hot in bed.

If Your Moon or Venus are in Aquarius - You're attracted to a woman who is independent, free-spirited and can be your friend. It's important to you that she be intellectually interesting, opened minded and willing to try doing things she's never done before. She's especially exciting if she's rather unconventional, even offbeat. You're attracted to her if she's an idealist and even a rebel. You avoid a woman who is a drama-queen. Your ideal woman is sexually exciting because she's willing to experiment when you make love.

If Your Moon or Venus are in Pisces - You're attracted to a woman who is feminine, romantic and emotionally sensitive, even passive. Her caring nature makes you feel secure. She's especially appealing if she appears mysterious or confused, yet compassionate. You are drawn to her if you see her as someone you can care for and "save," (or who might save you). Sexually, you seek a sensuous woman who is imaginative and bewitching in the bedroom, able to bring fantasy into your sex life.

If you're interested in a happy, long-lasting relationship, your horoscope can help you understand the type of person who attracts you in a traditional sense, as well as inspires your love and passion.

The Duchess Of Cambridge Is Such A Samantha

The Duchess of Cambridge wears many hats, both figuratively and literally. But her latest, an all-gray number for the Commonwealth Day celebration service in London Monday, knocked her typically tiny fascinators out of the park.

Clad in a gray coat by Canadian favorite Erdem with a matching clutch, shoes and hat by British milliner John Boyd, the royal formerly known as Kate Middleton looked a lot like beloved American Girl doll Samantha Parkington:

Their striking similarities have caught our attention before, but this outfit might just serve as final proof that they're one and the same person.

Forever 21 Removes Creepy Graphic Tee From Its Website

Forever 21 has learned the hard way that graphic tees are not the place for offensive jokes. Especially if they are ambiguous, rape-y ones.

The shirt in question, pictured below, has the words "Don't say maybe if you want to say no.," in bold writing across the front.

In what was likely meant to be typical Forever 21 bro-y humor -- other men's shirts say "Player's Club," "Bad Habits," and You Know I'm Right" -- this particular shirt insinuates that, perhaps, "maybe" actually means "yes."

It doesn't.

People on Twitter criticized the shirt, pointing out the way it reinforces harmful notions of victim-blaming after sexual assault.

The clothing company issued the following statement to The Huffington Post Monday afternoon about the tee:

Forever 21 strives to exemplify the highest ethical standards and takes feedback and product concerns very seriously.  With regards to the t-shirt in question, upon receiving feedback from our customers, we took immediate action to have it removed from our website.  We sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended by the product.

Good move, Forever 21. But it should have never been approved in the first place.

When Saygin Celen founded Downtown Shoes in May, 2014, he was a man inspired by the brand's namesake. He saw--and continues to see--downtown New York City as a beacon for ambitious, stylish, and outgoing individuals. The company's fashionable, suede, high-necked shoes are intended to go from work to play without losing their cool. Read on to learn how a trained Mechanical and Industrial engineer strode into the fashion industry.

What did you do before Downtown Shoes? Where?

I am an engineer by training, with an MBA in international marketing. Engineering requires delving into deep details relentlessly, which really helped me focus on the design aspect, craftsmanship details, versatility and comfort without sacrificing anything. I started working as a designer, then moved up to production engineer. I lived in Barcelona for 5 years. I worked in architecture, managing a small company and turned it into an architecture solution company. Then, as I came to New York, I started my own company, Downtown Shoes one month after my arrival [in New York]. I was traveling back and forth looking for the right moment to move full-time to the city that never sleeps, and experience it deeply from inside.

What made you want to start your own business?

I come from an entrepreneur family. Getting my MBA also made me push myself into the deep jungle of trial and error--taking new ideas to fruition. I am a doer, because I believe that is the only way we can deeply learn things and enhance ourselves and make a big difference. You need to find your great idea and push it forward everyday painstakingly.

Entrepreneurship makes you a better person and makes you explore a great number of things, including yourself. I think Downtown was the idea that I wanted to dedicate myself to make it reality. It took thousands of steps: finding a name, changing the manufacturer three times, and tens of prototypes each taking sometimes a month. There were thousands of emails. It was definitely a great experience making it happen.

How did you decide on the name? What were some of the other choices?

When I moved to New York, I lived in far Brooklyn for two months, but I wanted to live in Manhattan with all the ups and downs--all the energy coming towards you. That was the meaning of living in New York. You go out and things happen, mostly, unexpected; meeting a new person, finding an opportunity, discovering a great cafe, finding yourself in a hidden art gallery. All these things tend to happen, even more, in Downtown.

I called the brand Downtown because it reflects the energy that I want to convey for the brand for today and for the far future. Downtown is versatile, energetic, bold, sometimes tough, yet elegant, it lives day and night. Downtown people are great at changing their moods, going into a cafe, their office, or to a cocktail bar. They are always present and real.

What was Downtown's first shoe, and how did you decide on it?

Downtown's first shoe was Soho. I wear it everyday now. The suede and neck was a given in the shoe equation for me. The suede reflects the elegance, great looks and high quality. The neck was to give the sense of boldness and versatility. Red was also another given. The stitches, accent, lining and sole are all red. The red reflects the expressive individual, the person who has deep energy inside, who likes to change everyday and challenge the ordinary. This is all Downtown and Soho was the first shoe that completed our vision of the Downtown as a fashion brand from New York.

How would you describe your style?

I would say, Versatile Cool. You can wear a Downtown for almost any occasion and it always looks natural. Downtown may be for people who like to explore--who are stylish. Downtown is a lifestyle shoe brand for people who live a fast paced life with many activities around the clock, just like a New Yorker does. If you ask a New Yorker, the next few days are almost always full because they need to and like to do things and try new things.

Where are the shoes manufactured?

The shoes are manufactured in China. We also tried to manufacture in Europe especially Turkey and Italy; however, the final price was higher for the top quality we were asking for. We wanted to have accessible price for the top quality we needed. China has the advantage of having a huge shoe industry. The region we make the manufacturing has the capacity to produce half the global shoe production volume. Therefore, they have great certain advantages for reaching any kind of material with affordable prices and they are happy to help create solutions for you.

How big is the company?

We officially started sales at the beginning of 2016. Our main headquarters is located in New York, but we now have offices in San Francisco, Germany, and China, too. Apart from our manufacturing team, we have around 10 talented people in our staff.

Where are Downtown Shoes sold? Where would you like to see them in the future?

Our shoes are sold mainly through our website. That's where we will mainly keep our focus by centering our mind on attracting more customers and fans to our ever-changing and evolving brand. We will also take steps this year with top online retailers so that we increase our interaction with Downtowners around the world.

Where would you like to see Downtown Shoes in the future?

We have plans to see Downtown in the top boutiques and retailers who have a great selection of products. We will be launching our women's shoe line before the end of this summer reflecting the same Downtown New York energy, yet, femininely. Next year, we have plans to extend the Downtown shoe design in the other top fashion cities. Firstly, it will be Downtown LA, followed by the cities in Europe, Downtown Paris, Downtown London and Downtown Milan. Each shoe line will reflect a different energy and be identified with that city and a well-known designer from that city. Our design team will work closely with each designer to create the Downtown for the respective city. In 2018, we would like to step to become a fashion brand by launching our first clothing line starting from Downtown New York and moving our way forward with the other fashion pioneering cities.

Woman Gives Absurd Body-Shaming Ad The Middle Finger It Deserves

After seeing a ridiculous body-shaming clothing ad, fashion designer Christina Ashman decided to turn the tables with a version of her own.

To advertise an item labeled as "Big Size Plus Size XXXL/XXXXXL Ladies Wadded Autumn Winter Shorts Skinny Leggings" (yes, really), the shopping site Wish featured a thin model promoting the product by fitting both legs into one leg of the shorts. How exactly this image was meant to appeal to customers remains pretty unclear.

Ashman, the designer behind Interrobang Art & Fashion, saw the ad in a story from HelloGiggles, which described the image as an "incredibly cruel way to model plus-size shorts," and decided to post a response to Facebook in the form of a perfect photo and two middle fingers.

"I don't have any formal qualifications in marketing, but if plus size ladies buy shorts based on how one leg looks on a whole petite woman, then maybe smaller ladies will buy skirts based on how the whole thing looks on one pretty thunderous thigh," she wrote in the caption.

Ashman told The Huffington Post she found the ad, which is similar to online retailer Herry He's Store ad from last year, "really insulting to plus-size women everywhere" and had an important message for companies that promote body-shaming as well as consumers.

"I just think it's important to not let the media and fashion brands bully people into thinking they aren't good enough -- for whatever reason," she said. "People should love their bodies, however big or small."

It's Official: Rachel Zoe's Box of Style Trumps Christmas. Quarterly.

2016-03-12-1457760285-6175995-456578331.jpg

I recall being a teenager wanting a pair of brogues I'd seen in Dolly magazine and walking home from the local shoe store holding back tears of frustration. Fashion-starved, the closest thing I could reference was mum's "off limits" wardrobe and her "Color Me Beautiful" book.

2016-03-12-1457760343-7883598-Scan.jpg

The nearest department store was an hour away. I rectified that the week before I turned 18 and moved into the city. Life got hectic and I got less interested in fashion and more interested in work. Next thing I was 30 years old in a bar looking at a girl wearing something resembling my grandmother's tablecloth. "What is happening here?" Suddenly it seemed, I had no idea what was going on in the world of fashion. Was I completely out of date in my white pants and silver halter neck top? Was I destined to be stuck in the 90's? Desperate not to be left behind by the younger crowd I turned to Rachel Zoe. I bought Rachel Zoe's book "Style A to ZOE". Rachel explains the basics of fashion and how to dress well. This book rocked my world.

Rachel Zoe is the Richard Branson of fashion. If she shares a tip or trick then you bet I'm going to take it. Who has time to spend scouring the fashion magazines? Not I. She curates The Zoe Report which is the online "go to" for fashion advice. She breaks it down and saves hours of time for regular people like me. She started as a stylist to the Hollywood stars and quickly became a celebrity in her own right. She has evolved into an acclaimed fashion designer and media mogul.

When I found out about Rachel Zoe's Box of Style and that it was coming to Australia for the first time in "Spring 2016", I was beyond excited! The quarterly Box of Style provides a wardrobe update every season without you lifting a finger. If anyone has the influence to pull a great value subscription box together, it's her. If there is an opportunity to get a box of accessories and styling staples curated by the one and only fashion styling expert and now fashion designer, Rachel Zoe, I'm in. 100%.

The Box of Style is like Christmas for women but better because it comes 4 times a year and you get things you actually want and will use and wouldn't buy yourself. The fact that each item is individually wrapped adds to the surprise factor and makes this whole unboxing process extremely exciting! The box itself is such incredible quality that you can use it for many years and it will always look chic on display or in your wardrobe.

The Zoe Report teases fans for months. They advertise a hero item up front which this season is a leather bucket bag by Shaffer LA called "The Sidekick" with a retail value of $150. It is an excellent quality light weight cross body bag with tassels. It is giving me a 70's vibe yet the bucket style reminds me of the 80's. It has minimalist lines in a versatile caramel colour that can be worn all year round.

2016-03-12-1457760535-7477215-IMG_2932.JPG

The Box of Style itself sells for $100 (or less with a coupon) so you know you are ahead before any other items are revealed. It's a no brainer. The next item revealed was a sample 5ml bottle of "La Mer" concentrate. This again has a value of between $60-80. Just like Charlie Sheen infamously boasted, "WINNING!". Indeed. This product is so special I am not sure just yet whether to use it myself or give it to my mum.

Next they revealed the luxurious Jouer Crème Eyeshadow Crayon. Subscribers would receive one of 8 colors. What color would they send? Would they take into consideration the information on my skin tone that they asked when I started my account? This just added to my anticipation - which is one of the things that makes The Box of Style so much better than Christmas. They sent me "Abstract" which didn't disappoint. I created a smoky eye in seconds. The crayon feels smooth and luxurious. The pen itself is pleasing to hold and looks chic. Value $24.

Amplifying my anticipation was the next spoiler. Jules Smithpave bar and stone cuff. Rachel Zoe advocates the importance of accessories and this bracelet is an instant wardrobe update. This is a modern and delicate bracelet with 4 diamantes and a turquoise style stone. This comes in gold or silver. A believer in mixing metals it really wouldn't matter which one I received but I was vibing hard for gold. When I opened the Jules Smith pouch and saw the gold bracelet I was beyond thrilled! I intended to wear this on the week-ends with my more relaxed outfits but I put it against my Hermes H clic clac bracelet and it looked amazing so I have been wearing mine to work every day. I love this so much and feel like this might have taken 10 years off my look. The retail value of this bracelet is $45 but because of the way it makes me feel it's worth a lot more than that.

Jules Smith Designs Pave & Turquoise Gold Cuff Bracelet

Subscribers get a 30% discount off all Jules Smith orders for a month! That is a bonus I wasn't expecting. All of the contributing brands except for La Mer have included a discount offer with codes. I was also pleasantly surprised to receive a $50 voucher for Rachelzoe.com in the mail a few days prior to the arrival of the subscription box itself.

Bonus $50 Off Voucher for rachelzoe.com

The Zoe Report hits it out of the park again with the chic Wembley Earbuds by LSTN Sound Co which are listening devices you can use with your phone, ipad, computer, ipod. I'm not gonna lie. I wasn't that excited about ear buds but when I opened the package and read the box I was really thrilled to see that proceeds from the sale of these assists people to hear for the first time through Starkey Hearing Foundation. I am substantially more thrilled with this item than expected. They are wooden with gold trim and white volume controls. Valued at $100.

I am happy and surprised at the same time with how these ear phones subtly elevate my day to day look whilst streamlining my handbag. Being in real estate I always use earbuds with my phone but they are inevitably always tangled up. The Box of Style over delivered yet again with a bonus stylish pouch making them easy to control and find in your handbag.

LSTN Sound Co. Wembley Earbuds Retail Value $100

The next items I unboxed are what I would call styling staples. I've been using Klorane the dry shampoo since my hairdresser put me onto it many years ago. He used to charge me $30 for it but I found it in the local grocery store for $12. This is a great item and will benefit many busy women out there once they give it a try. You can substantially extend the life of your blow dry by spraying some of this into the roots of your hair. Another staple is the Hollywood Oil Blotting Tissues. These are sold for around $5 on amazon. I am happy to try these and suspect I may come to rely on them forever more.

Spring 2016 Box of Style Rachel Zoe

As far as fashion subscription boxes go The Box of Style is more fun than Christmas. It is unsurpassed for value and curation because, let's face it, who has more pull than Rachel Zoe? Three months of anticipation between boxes plus teasers coupled with surprises makes it so much fun and you cannot put a price on that. I recommend this box to anyone who is remotely interested in fashion. It is a great gift for your wife or girlfriend. Just don't forget to use a coupon code link to get a discount off your first box.
