And the queen of bronzer, Jennifer Lopez, stole the spotlight once again at The Daily Front Row 2016 Fashion Los Angeles Awards.

The Victoria's Secret 'What Is Sexy' List Is Out, And It's Pretty Ridiculous

Victoria's Secret has released its annual "What is Sexy" list for 2016.

The list is an arbitrary roundup of the "sexiest" lips, legs, hair and eyeballs among women in the fashion and entertainment industries.

"As the authority on what is sexy now," the lingerie company chose women who "embody an aspirational lifestyle" for the list, according to a Victoria's Secret press release.

The beautiful women on the list have truly accomplished some incredible things this year, and we totally support using the term "sexy" to describe a look, when it's appropriate.

But telling us what a "sexy" pair of lips looks like? Or worse, "sexy hair," can only serve to make women without that lipstick or without a full head of long hair feel less adequate and less worthy of being called sexy in their own right.

To prove the point, here are the winners from VS's "What Is Sexy" list. And below them, a few picks of our own.

The Victoria's Secret "What Is Sexy" List:

Our Pick For Sexiest Dish Rag: This Wrinkly Pink One

Be more pink and wrinkly, other dish rags! Then you will be truly sexy!

Our Pick For Sexiest Lightbulb: This Curvy One

Lightbulbs aren't sexy without a slight bulge.

Our Pick For Sexiest Fitted Sheet: This Scrunchy One

Why don't YOU look like this, other fitted sheets?!

Face It, This Baby Has Better Hair Than You

No doubt about it: this adorable baby has better hair than you.

Mackenzie Kaplan of Redwood City, California, posted a photo of her 2-and-a-half-month-old daughter, Isabelle, on Facebook and Instagram two weeks ago, according to ABC News.

But one of Kaplan’s cousins thought that Isabelle’s luscious locks deserved a wider audience, and posted the photo to Reddit.“I can kiss my days of being the cutest relative goodbye,” he wrote.

Isabelle has since become a viral sensation, inspiring people to use Photoshop to portray the little girl as everything from Ron Burgundy to Wolverine.

The proud parents appeared on Good Morning America Friday, claiming that they do nothing to specially style their daughter’s hair.

As her father, David Kaplan, said, “She woke up that way.”

How A Ballet Photographer Used Art To Heal

$

In February of 2011, Luis Pons became ill. He says his illness led him into a depression that lasted close to a year and that when it subsided, the depression and anxiety became like an endless loop, each one feeding the other.

"I literally forgot what it felt like to be happy," he said over email to The Huffington Post. "I couldn't even recall the last time I laughed. I felt very disconnected from the flow of the city. It's like I was looking at everyone in the buses and subways of NYC from outside of time. This really strange sense of observing life from this isolated and cold place."

During this time, a friend suggested that Pons take up photography as a chance to get outside and focus on something other than his health. In the beginning, he says, he took photos of people on the streets, "really sober shots or shots that reflected my sense of disconnection." But, as he improved in both skill level and mental well-being, he found himself wanting to take photos of people looking dynamic and alive.

"In a sense, it was the need to capture people at their zenith of expression, an apex of emotion," Pons said. He finally found that zenith in dance, photographing dynamic and lively men and women stretching their limbs in unfathomable directions. And instead of clamoring back indoors, he brought the ballerinas to him, shooting fairy-tale-like images of the dancers pirouetting and grande jeté-ing on streets, bridges, beach fronts and rooftops.

"I strive to capture the beauty of dance outdoors and also say something deeply about myself," he said. "If I can capture all three of those mysteries in one photo, it's been a magical day indeed."

Today, Pons says he shoots from a foundation of feeling. "A pose for the sake of posing is contrived and devoid of meaning," he explained. In his photographs, he "wrestles with the artist and the environment (which I have no control over) and together through reflection and action, we get the shot."

While the images showcase the strength and elegance of the likes of American Ballet Theater's Rachel Richardson and Dutch National Ballet Junior Company's Melissa Chapski, he says his work is meant to express more about himself than the movement or beauty of any of his subjects.

"It sounds selfish, but I came to photography to heal myself and express what I couldn't say in words," he concluded. "The sublime understanding that all things beautiful are temporal. Sadness leads to happiness, regret to forgiveness, knowledge to wisdom and pain to revelation. I photograph to capture these very real human conditions and explore how to resolve them in my heart."

See more of Pons' work on his Instagram.

Let's talk about Ezra Miller

He's an actor best known for "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," "We Need To Talk About Kevin," and last summer's hit "Trainwreck."

We're used to him looking like this:

But at the European premiere of "Batman v Superman" in London on Tuesday, he was looking like this:

The 23-year-old cameos as The Flash in the movie, and is set to reprise the role in 2017's "The Justice League: Part One," and "The Flash," which is set for release in 2018.

Miller has yet to say exactly how he buffed up for the part since "The Justice League" doesn't start shooting for a few more weeks. We're pretty sure every late-night host will be asking him about it when it comes time for the film's press tour next year.

Top 5 Wellness Trends: Sexuality, Work, Parenting, New Beauty and On-Demand Service

$

At Spafinder Wellness 365 we recently released our Global Spa & Wellness Trends Forecast, the guide to the top trends poised to shape the wellness, hospitality, travel and spa industries in 2016.

This year's trends show wellness stepping in to meet the challenges of today's major social crises, including a rising generation of stressed, anxious and overwhelmed children ("Parenting Well: Serious Spa & Wellness for Kids"), and adults that are suffering the effects of a hyper-connected workplace, demanding hours, and sedentary habits ("Workplace Wellness Wakes Up").

Another emerging issue? Healthy sexuality. Providers are eschewing the extremes of sensationalism and shame to shape new models for exploring and developing individual sexual wellness and happiness ("Sexual Wellbeing: Taboo No More").

I think it's interesting that a common thread for the majority of these wellness trends (i.e., more sexual wellbeing, serious wellness for kids and meaningful workplace wellness) is that they are so utterly key to human health and happiness -- and healthy societies, but they have been so very long in coming.

Our trends are unique in that we analyze not just the "what" but also the why, where and how the trend will evolve in the year ahead. After each short trend description, you can access a detailed full report on the individual trend.

2016-03-22-1458644371-7212217-ShhRetreatsPhotobyMartinHill.jpg
1. Sexual Wellbeing: Taboo No More
Every kind of wellness is now explored, embraced and promoted, but sexual wellbeing, in a culture where sex is often about sensationalism and shame, has been left out of the equation. Change is underway: more sophisticated sexual wellbeing and literacy programming at wellness retreats, spas, hospitals and fitness studios, and everything from new high-tech sex fitness trackers and "toys," to some out there touch therapies, to sex-forward hotels.
Shining examples: The new WOMANOLOGY+ RESTORE HIM clinics at Southern California's Hoag Memorial Hospitals and Shh Retreats, held in an European estate house, where women take a no-holds-barred dive into every aspect of sexual happiness.

2. Parenting Well: Serious Spa & Wellness for Kids
Poor diets, constant stress, and hours hunched over glowing screens are taking their toll on kids. This year look for more mindfulness and meditation in schools, kid-focused yoga classes, massage for toddlers, wellness-centric family vacations, or just an emphasis on local, organic eating, as parents reveal themselves willing to dedicate considerable time, attention, and, yes, money toward this niche that promises to be one of the industry's most significant areas of growth. A couple trend leaders: The David Lynch Foundation's Quiet Time meditation program and family-friendly and wellness-centric Six Senses resort in Laamu Atoll of the Maldives.

3. On Demand: Uber-izing Spa & Wellness
Apps and on-demand services are revolutionizing dozens of industries, including spa, beauty, fitness and wellness. These new on-demand options provide an unprecedented level of flexibility, immediacy, and convenience, and many established industry leaders are also adding or partnering with on-demand services. Great examples: Zeel in the U.S. or Urban Massage in the UK, both on-demand massage industry leaders, and manicure service Manicube, recently acquired by famed Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa.

4. Skin Care Gets Seoul-ful: The Korean Beauty Explosion 2.0
South Korean beauty products and approaches were an emerging trend in 2015, but that was just the beginning. Whether it's full-service spas, a seemingly limitless variety of facemasks, or intensive (even mindful)10-step skin-care routines, Korean beauty, for women and men, is much more than just a fad. Look for South Korea to become the global leader of affordable, innovative, and well-marketed products - and for more Korean-inspired spas, which combine spa and beauty with fun for the whole family. Leading the trend: Peach & Lilly, a South Korean beauty product distributor, and Korean mega-spa chain, Spa Castle, U.S.

5. Workplace Wellness Wakes Up
The idea of wellness in the workplace has been around since the '70s, but it remains a luxury for most global workers. Forward-thinking companies understand that a culture of wellness has a positive impact upon productivity, and narrowly focused programs are giving way to all-encompassing healthy and caring work environments that fuse company welfare to employee wellness. In the next five years, expect to see more spa and wellness integrated into the workplace in unique ways. (Think free yoga and meditation classes, financial counseling and mandatory vacations.) Out-in-front examples: Workplace wellness cultures at Google, Johnson & Johnson, Apple and Virgin Group Ltd.

Men With Psoriasis Could Be More Likely To Have This Sexual Problem

$

(Reuters Health) - Men with psoriasis may be more prone to erectile dysfunction than their peers without this skin disease, and their odds of sexual difficulties are even higher if they are depressed or have other health problems like diabetes or high blood pressure, a Chinese study suggests.

Researchers studied sexual function in 191 patients with psoriasis and an equal number of healthy men. They found 53 percent of the men with psoriasis reported erectile dysfunction, compared with 40 percent in the healthy control group.

Men with psoriasis were significantly more likely to report severe erectile dysfunction, while the men without the condition were much more apt to describe milder difficulties.

When men with psoriasis do develop erectile dysfunction, they may be able to improve their sexual health by keeping blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels in a healthy range and getting screening and any needed treatment for depression, said senior study author Dr. Suyun Ji of Guangdong Provincial Dermatology Hospital in Guangzhou.

“They must pay attention to their blood pressure, blood lipids, glucose level and psychological state,” Ji said by email.

Among men with psoriasis, 20 percent of those with erectile dysfunction described it as mild, while 6 percent said symptoms were severe, Ji and colleagues report in the International Journal of Impotence Research.

Absent psoriasis, 22 percent of men with erectile dysfunction said it was mild and 2 percent reported severe symptoms.

Men with more severe depression were also more apt to report severe erectile dysfunction, the study also found.

One limitation of the study is that men weren’t randomly selected to participate, and it’s possible the analysis included men who are more comfortable talking about their sexual health, the authors note. That might mean results would be different in a broader population of men.

Even so, the findings suggest that men with psoriasis should receive routine screening for sexual dysfunction as well as for depression and risk factors of cardiovascular disease like diabetes and high blood pressure, the authors conclude.

The results also add to a growing body of research linking psoriasis to erectile dysfunction, and to depression, said Dr. Alejandro Molina-Leyva, a dermatologist at Complejo Hospitalario Torrecardenas in Almeria, Spain, who wasn’t involved in the study.

Often, men with psoriasis are obese or have other cardiovascular risk factors that may restrict blood flood in the body, including in the penis, Molina-Leyva said by email. Psoriasis can also develop on the penis, contributing to pain and discomfort during sex, and these men may also have body-image problems or other psychological issues that impair sexual performance.

“The psychological impairment of the disease, including anxiety, depression, embarrassment of their body because of psoriasis plaques, stigmatization and low self-esteem reduce sexual desire and produce insecurity and lack of concentration during sexual relationships, developing erectile dysfunction,” Molina-Leyva added.

Any man who develops erectile dysfunction, regardless of whether they have psoriasis, should see a doctor, said Dr. Jon Goulding, a dermatologist at the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust in Birmingham, U.K., who wasn’t involved in the study.

“A screen for cardiovascular risk factors (e.g. diabetes, hypertension etc.) is crucial to pick up those which could be treated, to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke” Goulding said by email. “Patients with psoriasis already carry a higher than average risk of cardiovascular disease, so they should strictly follow standard public health advice about maintaining a healthy body weight and exercise levels, stop smoking, and reduce alcohol intake.”

One upside to screening is men can get help with problems in the bedroom if they need it, Goulding added.

“There are lots of effective treatments for erectile dysfunction if it does develop, so don’t suffer in silence,” Goulding said.

How To Do Your Makeup When You've Only Got 5, 15 Or 30 Minutes

$
0
0

When we're in a time crunch, the last thing on our minds is how we're going to do our makeup. We're lucky if we can even find some mascara, concealer and a brow pencil to toss into our handbags before rushing out the door in the mornings.

After trial and error, we've managed to come up with three makeup routines -- 5, 15 and 30 minutes -- that have saved us stress, time and money. Consider this the motivation you need to quit overusing product and start a simpler, straightforward regimen that enhances your natural beauty.

5 Minutes

Minute 1: Conceal blemishes or dark under-eye circles with a cream concealer.

Minute 2: Brush up your eyebrows and fill in only where needed. Then, brush again to evenly disperse product through hairs.

Minute 3: Dust eyelids with a nude shimmering shadow to whiten irises. Apply a few strokes of mascara to the top and bottom lashes to really open up eyes.

Minute 4: Warm up your complexion by adding highlighter to your upper cheekbones, along the temples, down the bridge of nose, Cupid's bow and on the chin.

Minute 5: Finish with a tinted lip balm or your go-to lipgloss.

15 Minutes

Minutes 1-3: Use your fingers or a damp Beautyblender to apply a tinted moisturizer or lightweight foundation.

Minute 4: Spot conceal any dark spots or acne blemishes with a thin layer of concealer.

Minutes 5-6: Brush and fill-in your eyebrow with a fine pencil. Take extra care to shape and cover up any sparse holes.

Minutes 7-8: Apply a neutral eyeshadow to lids, making sure to blend well.

Minutes 9-12: Dress up your eyes with cat-eye makeup. Create the line with a pencil first, and then go over with black liquid eyeliner. Add a few strokes of mascara.

Minute 13: Add a pop of color to your cheeks with blush.

Minutes 14-15: Line lips with concealer or a nude pencil to prevent fading. Then, put on lipstick or stain.

30 Minutes

Minutes 1-7: Prep skin with a primer to provide a smooth and even base. Tip: Matte makeup primers will help to minimize shine or oil. Then, apply your foundation with a large, flat brush in circular motions for an air-brushed look.

Minutes 8-10: Conceal any blemishes that are still coming through and set your face makeup with a loose powder.

Minutes 11-15: Use a gel or powder brow product to fill-in your eyebrows. Don't forget to brush up and into your desired shape!

Minutes 16-20: Go for that eye makeup look you've been waiting to try -- whether it’s a vivid liner or smoldering shadow.

Minutes 21-22: Give your lashes extra oomph by curling them before applying mascara.

Minutes 23-28: Play up your bone structure with contouring. Here's a tutorial to help guide you.

Minutes 29-30: Prep your lips with a primer, outline with a pencil and fill in with your lipstick or gloss of choice.

4 Ways Beard Oil Help Men Take Care of their Beards

$

When the startup known as Urban Beardsmen pitched their beard oil product on the Emmy award winning television show Sharktank, it was clear that this product answered a need in the marketplace for many men including entrepreneurs and businessmen who are growing beards but didn't quite know how to take care of them.

Even though they weren't able to secure a deal with their lifestyle beard products, they managed to convince the sharks of a new beard oil concept and how this product can help millions of men worldwide take care of their beards more effectively on a daily basis.

Beard oil won't magically help you grow a beard, but it is necessary for daily care of facial air. Beard oil consists of base oils like almond and grapeseed oils. On top of the base oils, are the essential oils from plants, flowers or trees, which are responsible for creating the fragrance.

If you're a new time beard grower or just searching for new beard products, read on for four ways beard oil can help men and their beards.

1.Beard oil restores vitality to your beard.

A beard can make men look older than their years, and regular use of beard oil rejuvenates the face and general appearance.

2. Beard oil helps with dryness

What will give men a healthy beard is healthy skin. The dirt gets in the beard will cause the facial hair to become dry and frizzy. Beard oils hydrate and soften the skin. Beard oils prevent dandruff from occurring on a regular basis by getting into the roots and follicles of the hair to produce a very healthy beard.

3. Beard oil helps with itchiness

If your beard hair is especially irritating, using beard oil daily will reduce the itchiness and conditions much better than simple shampoos and conditioners. Remember, beard hair is not the same as head hair. It's thicker and coarser than head hair and beard oil is made for this very purpose.

4. Beard oil creates a nice shine

Even these bearded billionaires have a good or bad beard day. Beard oil will restore that vitality, shimmer and rejuvenation by creating a very healthy beard. Beard oil oxidizes; it doesn't evaporate like a water based product which is why it's better than using a simple conditioner. The oil will get absorbed into your skin and stay in the beard for a long time without flakiness or dryness.

Unhealthy skin conditions won't help a beard grow faster or help the beard stay healthier. Beard oil creates an optimal setting for growing beards. In addition, a man's general health, diet and lifestyle will produce the optimal conditions for growing facial hair. Beard oil hydrates, conditions, and promotes healthy growth.

We Tested Old Navy's Stain Resistant White Jeans. Here's What Happened.

Whether you're an all-year-long wearer of white clothing or you're counting down the moments until Memorial Day, it's always daunting to keep bright whites stain-free.

Enter Old Navy, which recently debuted a new pair of jeans it claims to be "stain repellent," and our messy minds started turning. Could these dream pants be real? We had to find out.

Using everyday items we all know and love (coffee, Cheetos, red wine and soy sauce), we tested (read: tortured) the pants to see if they were really all they're cracked up to be.

The results? Not too shabby. After swiftly wiping each product off with napkins right after the initial spills, a spin in the washing machine later that night left the jeans looking almost as good as new, save the faint remnants of red wine placed unfortunately near the crotch.

Ultimately, assuming you're not planning on spilling full glasses of wine on yourself, these pants are certainly a viable option for those who love the look of white denim, but not necessarily the maintenance.

Check out the results below.

The Obamas Play The Roles Of Mom And Dad Perfectly At The Easter Egg Roll

President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama have a few months left to dress up for events at the White House, but there's one job for which they'll always know how to dress the part: Mom and Dad.

After a whirlwind few weeks of sartorial stunners, the Obamas arrived at the 138th Easter Egg Roll on Monday looking more like America's parents than anything else. Michelle wore a grassy green top, a long jacket and what appears to be leggings and sneakers, while Barack donned that gingham shirt and, well, dad jeans.

They then proceeded to do incredibly mom- and dad-like things: a dramatic reading of "Where the Wild Things Are," delivering high-fives, making jokes about the whip and nae nae and listening to mom-and-dad favorite Idina Menzel sing the national anthem

The White House posted another adorable photo of the whole family to its Instagram in honor of Easter on Sunday, but we have to admit we're loving their casual looks just as much.

Now, if we could just get these two to adopt us ...

Chrissy Teigen Wore Mostly Just Pants To Lady Gaga's Birthday

Chrissy Teigen's pregnancy style just hit its highest note yet.

The supermodel stepped out to attend Lady Gaga's birthday party in Los Angeles Saturday night wearing exceptionally high-waisted pants, what looks like a lace bralette and a long black overcoat.

Matching her black-clad husband John Legend, Teigen combined three of her favorite trends: high-waisted bottoms, all-black outfits and just the right amount of sheer. Add to that the very '90s-inspired hair and choker and you have what just might be our favorite look yet.

The outfit is in stark contrast to the elaborate white dress she wore earlier in the day at her Kim-Kardashian-hosted, McDonalds-filled baby shower.

The end. #MommynDaddy

Sigh. That baby is already way cooler than us and she isn't even born yet.

Dressing the Queen: Beyoncé's Stylist Ty Hunter Is Shining Light on How to Be Empowered and Sexy

$
0

Women are flaunting their bodies. The "almost naked" trend has taken over the red carpet, and crop tops and booty shorts are now considered every day casual. American fashion has transformed remarkably faster than our mindset surrounding women's clothing and sexuality, creating a divisive and judgmental culture within the female community. The traditional "cover it up and be ladylike" model is challenged by a modern take on female sexuality, which does not shame women for wearing what they want (even if that's nothing at all).

For example, when Ayesha Curry, professional chef and half of the country's favorite basketball couple, released a series of tweets on keeping "the good stuff covered up," she ignited a debate between traditional and modern ideals of empowered femininity. Reading through the arguments for and against Curry's statements left me wondering: Can a woman be sexy and classy? Does sexy and classy have to be mutually exclusive?

As an empowered woman and a feminist, I am conscious of how the bodies of black women have been exploited. Although I don't want to play into misogynistic ideals, I'm sexy and in my prime damnit, and I want to embrace my sexuality, flaunt my body. What is the line between flaunting your body and objectifying it?

There is one person that has mastered being equally sexy and powerful: Beyoncé. The superstar is one of the sexiest women alive and also one of the most respected. She mesmerizes audiences with her curves, dances in glittering bodysuits, swoons over Jay-Z, and yet affirms her title as the Queen Bey. Beyoncé can be barely clothed, and will still communicate a high level of sophistication. One man holds the secret to her fierce style: Fashion Director and Stylist Ty Hunter.

Hunter is the creative genius behind the wardrobe of the sexy Queen, among others. Since the mid-1990s, he has built an astonishing career by using his styling expertise to create awe-inspiring and empowering looks for his clients. The Texas native is the one of the most sought out stylists in the world, owner of brand "With Passion," and the creator of the Ty Lite. Yet, he believes that being humble is just as important as being fly. I caught up with him after his keynote at Baltimore's Glam Tech, and learned the secret to looking sexy no matter what you're wearing.

Alanah Joseph: What is the creative process for dressing a sexy, empowered woman?

Ty Hunter: It's important to get to know the client, and learn about her insecurities. I don't stay away from insecurities, but instead try to get my client to a place where they feel comfortable with them. If you tell me that you don't like your knees, my whole goal is to make you fall in love with your knees. It's only when a woman feels confident and comfortable that she can express sex appeal. A lot of my job is mental.

The process depends on whether it's a tour, red carpet, or an event. I'm about what my client feels, their vision. I try to get in their head, and bring their vision to life. I meet the designers. If we have time, I have them make sketches or show me what they have. I go back to my client for feedback, and make revisions with the designer. Then, we have fittings to make sure that the garment fits the vision.

It's important to feel beautiful internally first. You have to love yourself. It's not clothes. Fashion doesn't make a person. You weren't born with an outfit on. Once you get to that place, you can wear anything. -Ty Hunter

AJ: You work with a lot of top designers and up-and-coming brands. How do you find designers that match your client's power and sex appeal?

TH: I've found and helped a lot of designers through social media. Some times fans tag me in photos. I'll meet the designer, and if the quality is good, I'll pull from them. When I'm walking down the street and I see something cute in a window, I'm going to check it out. I've found a lot of young designers that way, as well. That's the thing about Beyoncé. She's not just about high end. She's okay with trying new things. It doesn't matter if it's high end or low end; it just has to look hot.

AJ: What is the secret to creating a look that is both classy and sexy?

TH: It's not the clothes. It's how to carry yourself. I think a woman can wear a tank top and jeans and be sexy. It's how you feel internally. I can put something risqué on Beyoncé, Kelly, or Michelle, and it still looks classy. Then, I can put the same thing on someone else, and it looks tasteless. Your confidence makes the clothes read a certain way. If you're doubting yourself or feeling self-conscious, others will doubt you, too. For example, if you take away the clothes, and you look at nude pictures, some are beautiful pieces of art and some just look raunchy. A woman can look powerful and beautiful and be naked.

I went to the full-figure fashion week in New York. These women had so much confidence and shut the runway down. There was no comparison between my experience there and a regular fashion show. It goes to show how much confidence matters. When you have that look that says "I don't care what you think about me. I know what I think about me," life is so much better. The goal is to get to a place where you know who you are. You have to be comfortable in your skin. When you love yourself, you can stand securely by yourself. Otherwise, you become needy and feel like you need validation from your relationships. Anything outside of you should be a bonus, not your body of work.

Anything outside of you should be a bonus, not your body of work. -Ty Hunter

AJ: What styling advice do you give to women that want to feel sexy and beautiful, but cannot find the right garments?

TH: Get to a place where you feel beautiful and sexy. You have to love yourself. It's not clothes. Fashion doesn't make a person. You weren't born with an outfit on. It's important to feel beautiful internally first. Once you get to that place, you can wear anything. You can just throw something on, and people will say "You look so beautiful," because your confidence radiates from the inside out. It's not the fashion; it's how you feel about yourself.

AJ: Women spend so much time, energy, and money shopping for the garments that make them feel and look good. How can a woman find clothes that are empowering and sexy?

TH: The clothes won't empower a woman. But, clothes can tell a story that empowers a woman. For example, if a woman buys a dress two sizes too small and works out consistently to fit in it, when she puts it on, she will feel empowered. Or, clothes can be associated with a beautiful memory, like a loved one that passed away. If a woman puts on a beautiful dress that belonged to her grandmother that passed away, wearing that garment is going to give her an empowering experience. She'll wear it with pride. The clothes have to take you somewhere you're trying to go. They have to transport you to a positive place, and positivity will radiate out of you. If you set aside a reason for a garment to make you feel empowered, then you will, but a garment on its own can't give you strength or make you beautiful.

AJ: You recently released the Ty Lite, an iPhone case with built-in lighting. It has been quite the sensation for our selfie-loving generation. What was the inspiration for the Ty Lite?

TH: My goal is to shine my light and leave my mark on the world. I want to make people feel good and motivate people.

Lighting is so important. The whole point of the Ty Lite is to take away the usage of filters and apps. If you have good lighting, you won't have to use a filter. You won't have to use to apps that make you look like a flawless cartoon person. You can just look like you. You're already flawless. I wanted to create a product that allows your natural beauty to glow no matter environment that you're in.

Spray-On Nail Polish Is Perfect For People Who Can't Paint Their Own Nails

Some may call the spray-on nail polish trend "lazy" or "messy," but we think it's pretty awesome. Unlike traditional nail lacquers that require a steady hand and a long drying time, aerosol-based nail polishes allow you to spray on a manicure in under 20 seconds. Amazing, right?

Though you may have come across that "As Seen on TV" infomercial for Spray Perfect, the company that's actually credited with revolutionizing the product is London-based company Nails Inc. Their Paint Can sprays are now available stateside in three highly pigmented shades, including Hoxton Market (a hot pink), Mayfair Lane (a pastel pink) and Shoreditch Lane (a gleaming silver).

Milk Makeup and China Glaze have recently added spray-on nail polishes to their beauty lines, proving that this trend isn't going anywhere any time soon.

Here's exactly how it works, demonstrated in GIFs by Nails Inc.

You start by applying a base coat -- because you've got to protect your natural nails and provide a smooth surface for the pigment to adhere to. You can either use your own traditional brush-on base coat, or one that may be sold with your spray-on polish.

Next, shake up the can and spray on your nail polish. Pro tip: Place a paper towel or old newspaper to prevent getting product all over the place. And be sure to hold the bottle at least 3 to 5 inches above your hand to evenly disperse the pigment.

Don't worry about getting the spray-on nail polish all over your fingers -- you can remove the excess paint by simply washing your hands or using a makeup remover wipe.

Seal your manicure with a traditional top coat and you're done!

Zayn Malik might be famous for his music (and a certain fashionable girlfriend) but he also draws a crowd his his ever-changing grooming situation. Just recently the pop star dyed his hair gray, then pink, then he debuted a face tattoo that, as it turns out, wasn't real. Just yesterday, he debuted a newly shaved head. That he looks about 10 years younger is sort of ironic given that, Complex just published an interview with Malik where he claimed that he was not allowed to grow a beard while in One Direction because he looked older than the rest of the band. He commented,

"There were certain restrictions in terms of the way that we could come outside of that young teen boy look...Mainly my beard, honestly. I wasn't allowed to keep it. Eventually, when I got older, I rebelled against it, and decided to keep it anyway. That was just because I looked older than the rest of them. That's one of the things that is now quite cool. I get to keep my beard. I also wanted to dye my hair when I was in the band, but I wasn't allowed to."

For the record, when it comes to "you can't control me" grooming moves, we much prefer a good old fashioned buzz-cut to a face tattoo.

Your Skincare Routine Needs Spring Cleaning, Too

$

When you think of spring cleaning, the last thing on your mind is probably tidying up your skincare routine. But in order to maintain a healthy complexion year round, this should be a top priority on your seasonal checklist.

Whether it's decluttering your bathroom of expired beauty products, incorporating lightweight cosmetics that lock in moisture, or giving your skincare tools a thorough washing, these tiny tweaks will make a huge difference.

We asked certified esthetician and director of brand development at InstaNatural Heather Wilson to share four simple ways we can spring clean our skincare routines.

1. Switch out your thicker facial and body creams and foundations for light, water-based products.

This may seem like a no-brainer, but consider this a necessary reminder to swap out those heavy facial moisturizers, body lotions and even full coverage foundations for lighter alternatives. "Rich products that contain oils and emollients are great for winter but can cause oil and breakout as the temperatures rise," says Wilson. Instead, the skincare expert recommends using water-based moisturizers and foundations.

Her top picks include: InstaNatural Hydra Gel-Cream for its thin texture that's formulated with hyaluronic acid to increase hydration without the heavy or oily feel. BB creams such as Tarte Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Moisturizer that Wilson says "offer natural-looking, dewy coverage that's suitable for spring." For those of you who can't go a day without wearing foundation, she suggests Make Up For Ever Face and Body Foundation, which boasts a liquid formula that makes it super easy to build coverage to your desired finish.

2. Change the brush heads and exfoliating pads on your at-home facial cleansing and microdermabrasion tools.

If you use a cleansing device like a Clarisonic, Wilson believes it is OK to continue usage but to be sure to refresh your brush head. Regularly cleaning and replacing this attachment will help to prevent the spread of germs, as well as ensuring that you're getting the most out of your tools when trying to wash away makeup and dirt. Basic soap and water or rubbing alcohol will rid the brush bristles of grime and acne-causing bacteria.

Wilson strongly cautions against the overuse of microdermabrasion tools that typically use crystals to slough away dead skin cells, as intense exfoliation can make your skin more sensitive to the upcoming increase in sun exposure.

3. Be even more diligent about your daily application of sunscreen, and remember to reapply often.

There shouldn't be a day that you go without wearing sunscreen, especially as the seasons transition from winter to spring (and don't be fooled by spring's cloud cover -- those rays still sneak through).

"While we are spending more time outdoors, exposing our skin to harmful UVA and UVB rays, we need to be sure we are protecting it from damage," says Wilson. "Applying a daily sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher is recommended, reapplying after every two to three hours of sun exposure or after contact with water."

Check out our editors' picks for the best moisturizers with SPF to protect your skin.

4. Add vitamin C serum to your regimen to boost your skin's defenses against allergens.

According to Wilson, springtime can cause irritation and sensitivity in the skin due to a spike in allergens. Common physical signs that you struggle with allergies may include redness, dryness or rashes.

"The first step to addressing the concern is to try and limit your exposure to the allergen as much as possible," she says. "When and if that isn't possible, you can protect your skin by boosting your application of antioxidants such as vitamin C. Our skin doesn't receive enough vitamin C from our diet, so topical application can make a huge difference in our skin's protection process, tone and texture."

If you experience any noticeable changes to your skin such as a rash or redness that is uncomfortable, painful and doesn't subside within a few days, Wilson believes you should seek medical attention from a dermatologist or your primary physician.
