Isn't that Dory screenshot from Finding Nemo cute up there? Such a fun movie. Such a lovable fish. Um, just kidding. That's not a screenshot. That's a person's face. Yes, we had to peel ourselves off the floor, too. To be fair, we've seen our share of insane transformations -- who could forget Alice Through The Looking Glass? But there are some skills so next-level, you just need to stream them to believe them.

In anticipation of Finding Dory, YouTuber Chrisspy made over her entire face (she even used a bald cap) to become our favorite fishy character. And we're going to straight-up say that there's very little we find more more fascinating than watching a time-lapse video of a human face transforming into a cartoon fish. Who knew?

As a reminder, this isn't Chrisspy's first ridiculously creative beauty transformation. (Yoda, anyone?) But this particular video is so enthralling, each and every one of us (okay, most of us) actually watched all seven minutes and 58 seconds.

If you're interested in trying it yourself -- caution: there's a glue stick involved -- or just want to be awed by the sheer creativity, take a look for yourself and click here.

10 Of The Coolest Fashion Startups Of 2016

$

0

Staying trendy in the fashion department is something that much of society aims to do. It is difficult to keep up with the ever-changing fashion trends. Newer startups, like those introducing themselves in 2016, make shopping easier. They also make it easier to know what is in-style is at the moment you’re shopping with them. These 10 fashion startups are just the tip of the iceberg as dozens of new fashion startups are emerging this year.

Cuyana

Based in San Francisco, Cuyana focuses its efforts on providing products that last. This fashion startup provides quality content for shoppers to read to help maintain a smaller wardrobe while fitting into current and changing fashion trends. The idea of Cuyana is to embellish upon the “Lean Closet Movement”, meaning that clothing items are bought for a purpose and with the intention of being worn frequently rather than making purchases just for special occasions.

Nineteenth Amendment

Those that like early access to new fashions will be fans of Nineteenth Amendment. This brand allows designers that are breaking into the fashion industry and those that are not well-known to reach the masses in a different way. Independent designers can offer collections for sale in limited production numbers (pre-production access) to items before mass production begins.

Electroloom

With 3D printing gaining industry attention, it was only a matter of time before it became part of the fashion industry. Electroloom makes 3D seamless fabrics. This will allow clothing designers and manufacturers to complete on-site orders for custom-made clothing. Electroloom will stay focused in the textile industry for use in making clothing before branching off into other industries.

Daniel Christian Tang

Three founders came together to form Daniel Christian Tang. This startup re-invents jewelry using 3D printing. Each piece of jewelry is considered to be a “wearable piece of art”. The designs can be more intricate and customized. Using inspiration from the arts, architecture and fashion, timeless pieces of jewelry can be re-imagined to fit modern preferences.

Ellison Eyewear

The rising costs of fashionable eyewear is what led Ellison Eyewear founder Aristotle Loumis to develop a more affordable product. On a trip to Greece, Loumis began working on ways to create fashionable eyewear that helps communities, is affordable for most of society, and is comfortable to wear. Part of his vision was to design classic styles with modern twists to fit today’s society.

Modavanti

Modavanti is a leader in eco-friendly fashion retailers. It is very particular as to the designers it features in its online store. Designers must meet a long list of criteria to certify that the products are American made, organic, and eco-friendly. For those that are environmentalists, this service is ideal because the founder, David Dietz believes that shoppers should be able to shop based upon their personal values.

Palm Angels

Palm Angels is still in the infant stages of its business as it just released itself in the final part of 2015. The brand focuses on making skateboarding clothing that is a little dressier and socially acceptable. Palm Angels does have stock interest from major fashion-industry brands already like Colette in Parris and Saks Fifth Avenue. Comfortable hoodies can be dressed up; Palm Angels proves it.

Ms. Dress Up

Ms. Dress Up emerged with assistance from the Joe Fresh Innovators program in Canada. This program’s founder has invested $1-million to develop Canadian fashion-inspired businesses. This startup focuses on helping women create innovative styles of their own along with helping them see how easy it can be to look and feel beautiful. It is a program based around fashion sense and the empowerment of women.

Wear Your Label

Mental illness awareness is important to society. Wear Your Label creates clothing and household items that each have inspirational messages to support various mental health awareness initiatives. One of their messages is “It’s Okay Not to Be Okay” and “Stressed”. The online-only retailer understands the difficulties of suffering with mental illness and acceptance, which is how Wear Your Label came to be.

Made Safe

Made Safe focuses on ensuring that textiles, clothing and other goods are made from safe materials. This fashion-related start-up actually takes the time to visit facilities to deem their ingredients “safe”. The entire process from where ingredients/materials are sourced to what is added to them and how they are processed are all taken into consideration.

Final Thoughts

Many of these startups came to be from issues experienced when shopping with other retailers. The founders used their experiences and found holes in the retail market for products that are necessary. Some are focused on recycling items and becoming environmentally friendly while others are focused more on making shopping for fashion more convenient for consumers.

This Pinterest Beauty Trend Is the Must-Try Manicure of the Summer

Confession time: I am terrible at painting my nails. My usual "technique" for manicures includes slapping paint on my nails, letting them dry, then taking a shower to remove all the polish I got on my skin. Basically, I'm the target user for spray paint nails.

That being said, I love having fun, colorful nails, so I keep trying new manicure designs. The latest trend in the nail art world is splatter manis, which reminded me of one of my favorite artists, My Friend Court, who taught our acrylic painting class. Even for a nail art novice like myself, I found these nails were really easy to achieve! Plus, just by changing the colors, you can make them work for a bridal shower, an outdoor tea party or even a rainbow party. As with all nail art, the key is being patient and waiting for the polish to dry completely before doing anything else. I have ruined countless manicures by thinking the polish was dry and then messing them up by washing my hands. So, get your Netflix queue ready and let's start splatter painting!

The 7 Things We Will All Wear If Trump Becomes President

With every passing day, the future looks a little bleaker. More apocalyptic. More orange.

So while we're all hypothesizing about what a Trump Presidency would look like on a figurative level, let's also imagine what it'll physically look like. It's important that you know what to expect, should the worst happen and the the man with the tiny hands does, in fact, find himself holding the presidential pen.

It could be time to book your flight to Canada.

The Tradeoff For Really Clean Hair Is Worth It... Sometimes

$
0
0
I wrote a column recently about how 'dirty' hair is easier to style. Now I want to talk about how wonderful it is to have clean hair and how to get it.

First, let me clarify about easy-to-style 'dirty' hair. It's not really dirty. I'm talking about hair that you haven't washed for a day or two, and you haven't done a mud run or been cutting drywall for a remodel.

Your skin, including your scalp, produces oils that are good for your hair. Wash your hair every day and you'll have less oil. There is a limit to this: too much oil can be problem, and some people produce more oil than others. Everyone's chemistry is different.

Now, clean hair is a wonderful thing, too. It feels so good and it looks great, and it plays really well with your favorite hair products. It will also take color better than unwashed hair.

How do you get clean hair? Easy. Find a great clarifying shampoo, or make a thick liquid of baking soda and water, letting it sit your wet hair for a few minutes before rinsing. This will get your hair really clean. Then follow with a professional quality conditioner and, if you have naturally dry skin, a nurturing oil for your hair.

Granted, it may not style as easily. And if you have naturally curly hair, it may be pretty wild at this point, but beautifully so! Ask your stylist, but this is typically what you want to do before getting new color.

Your clean hair, with conditioner, will also feel great to the touch. Heavily styled hair may look fantastic but often won't be so friendly to touch, and you may not want someone touching your freshly styled hair if you're headed for the red carpet, catwalk or wedding!

Styled hair with lots of hairspray, for example, can look great but it's stiff and sort of rough to the touch. We saw some styles on the red carpet at the recent Tony Awards that were sleek and edgy-cool, but they probably weren't very soft to the touch.

Simply, it's a tradeoff. Sometimes you'll want that elegant updo, requiring lots of styling hold. Other times you want it to be soft and touchable with an intoxicating aroma. Headed for that prom or wedding, you'll probably go for the strong hold. Going on a great date? Soft and clean with lots of body is probably better. Hard to get both in the same package!

Stop What You're Doing And Look At Beyonce's Incredible Bathing Suit

Sorry (I ain't sorry) to break this to you, but Beyoncé just brought back long-sleeved bathing suits in a major way.

Bey took a moment from vacationing in Hawaii with husband Jay Z and daughter Blue Ivy to remind us that she is the queen, and as queen can wear whatever she wants, whenever she sees fit.

Take this long-sleeved tropical floral one-piece with cut outs that she wore with an oh-so-fitting lemon charm headband and necklace. The accessories looks like they might have been made in arts and crafts, but are actually Dolce & Gabbanna. Of course.

But before you're all like "I could never pull off something this different at the beach," say "boy, bye" to your doubts (and sunburned shoulders) and check out some of our favorite long-sleeved options below:

This Bride And Her Bridesmaids Flawlessly Rocked Their Natural Hair

Like many brides, Nakyia Whitty posted some photos on Instagram after her June 11 wedding -- not thinking much of it at all.

Among the snaps from the Punta Cana, Dominican Republic nuptials were some shots that featured her and her bridesmaids all rocking their natural hair.

The following day, the Houston, Texas couple's phones were buzzing like crazy, as the pics quickly spread across the Internet, with many people celebrating the bridal party's afros.

"I wore my hair this way because it's how I wear my hair every day," Whitty told The Huffington Post. "It's a part of me. I'm proud enough to wear it daily, even more proud to rock it at such a momentous occasion."

The bride called the Internet's reaction to her wedding photos "crazy," but filled with a lot of love and support.

"There have been encouraging words, stories of [women] once being afraid to wear their hair out and now they have the courage. It's beautiful," she said.

Whitty never anticipated this kind of response to her wedding photos, telling HuffPost that she didn't have the "slightest idea that this would be something that would go viral."

"The choices that were made for our wedding were strictly made for our enjoyment. For our photo book, our memories," Whitty said. "I knew a statement was being made. I didn't realize it'd be a public one. But since it has been, I'm glad. I'm glad the stereotypes and negative image on our hair is being exposed. Whoever said our natural hair couldn't be versatile, classy, or professional? Whoever that was lied."

In an interview with BuzzFeed, Whitty said that her husband Jay Davis has supported her throughout her natural hair journey, helping with research and watching a whole bunch of tutorial videos.

“We learned my hair together,” she said. “[I'm] blessed to have that type of support. I don’t know how many YouTube tutorials a man can take, exactly, but he definitely exceeded maximum capacity.”

Whitty and Davis met in 2007 as college students at Texas Southern University.

"We were friends. Always had been," the bride told HuffPost. "We saw other people then, we never looked at each other 'that way' until about 2012. Things definitely changed."

Wishing these two many more ~flawless~ years together!

Lots Of Parents Are Naming Babies After Clinton, Trump… And 'Hamilton''

$

It seems that this year's presidential election is influencing parents in ways beyond political activism and baby fashion choices. Presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are apparently providing baby name inspiration as well.

BabyCenter analyzed the roughly 115,000 baby names registered on the site and found that the name Hillary increased 142 percent in popularity since this time last year. The names Bill, Chelsea and Charlotte rose 113 percent, 18 percent and 17 percent respectively.

According to a press release from BabyCenter, the name Donald also rose in popularity but only by eight percent. Melania is up 36 percent, and Ivanka increased by four percent.

Bernie Sanders does not appear to have had the same effect, as the name Bernard fell 50 percent, and no new baby Bernies appeared in the BabyCenter database.

"A presidential election is a big deal, and new parents who choose names like Hillary and Donald are placing a bet that their new baby will share the name of the next American president," Linda Murray, BabyCenter Global Editor in Chief, stated in the press release.

"In a sense, they’re already voting for their favorite candidate. Time will tell whether they picked a winner or the next John Kerry or Mitt Romney," she added.

BabyCenter's analysis also found some potential baby name influence in the hit Broadway musical, "Hamilton." Since last June, the name Hamilton has increased almost 60 percent in popularity. Meanwhile Jefferson is up 171 percent, James rose 25 percent, George increased by 21 percent and Maria is up almost 22 percent.

"The combination of 'Hamilton’s' success and the election year has parents feeling patriotic," Murray explained, adding, "When parents reach into history to select a leader’s name for their child, it’s usually because they feel inspired by that person’s values and legacy. The Broadway show’s multi-ethnic, cross-culture story speaks to millennial parents. Hamilton is the new Lincoln or Madison."

For more information about these findings, visit BabyCenter.

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liarrampant xenophoberacistmisogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.

Kendall Jenner's Nipple Piercing Can Breathe In This Long-Sleeved Look. But Can She?

$

It was 87 degrees in New York City on Tuesday. But like love to a tennis player, weather means nothing to a supermodel. Or at least, nothing to supermodel Kendall Jenner

The newly-short-haired reality star stepped out with fellow heat-resistant model friends Gigi Hadid and Hailey Baldwin, hitting the steamy streets in boots, high-waisted skinny jeans, a choker and an off-the-shoulder long-sleeved shirt. As if that weren't enough to make you sweat, she also carried an oversized coat.

But wait! What's that? The shirt is completely see-through and shows off her nipple piercing? Well, then. Forget everything we said. We're sure that was enough to keep her cool in the sweltering temperatures. Again

Her pals were a bit more weather appropriate and a lot more SFW: Hadid wore a sleeveless T-shirt with her flared jeans, and Baldwin chose a mini-dress.

In keeping with the weather tolerance that seems to come with being a celebrity, though, they both wore hefty black shoes that make us sweaty just looking at them.

Sigh. To be young, famous and immune to all this heat.

How A Remembrance Tattoo Helped One Mom Heal After Miscarriage

$

A woman who experienced pregnancy loss hopes her miscarriage remembrance tattoo will inspire more people to talk about a topic that can be taboo.

About two weeks ago, when Joan Bremer was seven weeks along in her pregnancy, she started experiencing some light bleeding and cramping. After two days of tests, doctors confirmed it was a miscarriage.

In the nearly three days it took for Bremer to physically recover from the miscarriage, she thought about getting a remembrance tattoo, as she and her husband had gotten tattoos together after their wedding.

"I thought it would be nice to mark this life experience as well with some more body art," she told The Huffington Post. "Even though it was devastating to us, I wanted to be able to remember it in some way, while still healing and moving on."

Bremer searched for design ideas online until she found one that truly resonated with her. "I liked how it was one solid line, which reminded me of an umbilical cord," she said. "I also thought the two hearts could represent me and the baby that I lost."

"My husband and I do like to think it represents the baby that we will always carry in our hearts, even while moving forward in our life as a couple and hopeful family," she added.

Bremer, who lives in the Bay Area, went to Joseph James at California Electric Tattoo in Soquel to bring her vision to reality.

Not quite ready to share the tattoo and its meaning with friends and family on Facebook, Bremer then decided to share her photo and story somewhat more anonymously on Imgur. She was "floored" by the responses.

"So many people posted their own stories, and it really made it feel like my husband and I were less alone in this experience," said Bremer. "It also gave me a lot of hope to see all the comments regarding successful pregnancies after a loss. It's hard not to think that something might be wrong, or I didn't take care of myself correctly and caused this, but seeing everyone's stories made it much easier for me to understand."

Eventually, she wrote about her loss in a personal Facebook post and received several messages of gratitude from old friends and acquaintances she hadn't spoken to in years.

"Most of them said they have experienced miscarriages themselves, but were to ashamed or embarrassed to speak to people about it," Bremer said. "Someone told me that they never had an answer to 'When are you going to have kids?' because they just didn't know how to bring up the fact that they had a pregnancy loss."

Though Bremer wasn't expecting such an overwhelming response, she told HuffPost she's happy she was able to promote conversation around pregnancy loss.

"Miscarriages are so common, but no one likes to speak about it," she said, adding, "But I wish we would more. Being able to talk about it, share with other women, and hear other people's experiences has been extremely healing for me."

"I've had several people call me 'brave' for sharing this," Bremer continued. "But to be honest, I don't feel brave -- I just feel like a normal person who didn't mind talking about this life experience. I hope that this will help other people heal in their own way."

Beautiful message.

A Case For Eye Cream, The Product Every Man Should Be Using

$
0
0

The world is hard on your skin. Pollution and sunlight are the major culprits that age your outer layer, which is constantly dealing with nature's elements.

Time is also against you. Over time, skin loses its elasticity -- so if you don't prevent that from happening with the proper care, it will look uneven, drier and older than it should.

One of the best things you can do, especially if you want to look young, hydrated and vibrant, is pay special attention to the area under your eyes.

Because the skin around your eyes is thinner, it's more fragile; it darkens, making you look exhausted. But there's a fix. All it takes is a dab of some eye cream with a flick of the wrist.

Because most eye creams are formulated to deal with the delicate area around your eyes, "they tend to be thicker. They contain more oil than a regular facial lotion, and they have a lot of active ingredients aimed at the problems we see around the eyes," dermatologist Patricia Farris told WebMD.

The best application for eye cream, according to Tyler Traudt, a skincare expert with Kiehl's, is to dab with your ring finger along your cheekbone -- don't rub it on your eyelid.

Your ring finger has less muscle than your other fingers, so you'll be less likely to press too hard on that delicate skin.

And you should avoid rubbing eye cream on your eyelids because the product travels when it warms up with your body temperature. “The product will spread within an hour or two, so there’s no need to apply [cream directly] on the soft tissue area,” Geri G, a celebrity makeup artist and esthetician, told HuffPost.

So while it might seem trivial to dab a tiny bit of cream under your eyelid every night -- and eye creams can be expensive -- try it for a weeks to see if you notice a difference.

Kailijumei, a Chinese cosmetics brand, is taking Instagram by storm with its flower jelly lipstick. The gorgeous, glossy sticks have gold flecks, a pinkish hue, and REAL FLOWERS inside them.

The lipsticks are extremely charming with names like "Minutemaid" and "Doll Powder", but they're not super pigmented. Lovers of opaque or matte purples or reds may want to look elsewhere.

What's most unique about the floral lip product is that, despite its clear appearance, it goes on pink. The color of the pink also varies depending on your body temperature.

Behold, The Aglet: That Thing On The End Of Your Shoelace

$

Plastic, metal, maybe just some Scotch tape that you found in your coworker's desk -- the little tips at the ends of your shoelaces that helps you thread them through the eyelets in your shoe's upper sole? You probably never think about them until they break off and become a huge pain.

Well, those little tips have a name.

They're called aglets, otherwise known as one of the most useful inventions that you've probably never thought about.

This history of the aglet's evolution is a little knotty -- many sources credit it as being popularized by an English inventor named Harvey Kennedy who is said to have earned $2.5 million off the modern shoelace in the 1790s.

But Ian Fieggan, the self-proclaimed "Professor Shoelace," doubts this is exactly true because, as he rightly points out, we Homo sapiens have used straps to hold stuff onto our feet for centuries.

Regardless, the use of the word aglet can be found through its etymology, which traces back to aguillet, the French word for needle.

Now you know, in case it pops up on a quiz somewhere.

Woman's First Bikini Photo Ever Goes Viral For The Best Reason

$

For the first time in 21 years, Lesley Miller bought a bikini.

It was a major milestone for the Rice University student, who later took a photo in her bikini and shared it on Facebook on June 1. In her post, she wrote that she kept her body "covered up and hidden away" for years.

"I told myself that one day I would finally let myself be seen; I would finally do all of the things I dreamed of when I was enough," she wrote. "Thin enough, happy enough, confident enough. When my body looked the way that it was 'supposed' to."

Trigger warning: The following text includes descriptions of self-harm.

In her post, Miller detailed the journey leading up to the day she decided she was "enough." She wrote that when she was 7, she lied in order to sit in on Weight Watchers meetings, and when she was 15, she began "cutting into [her] own skin." When she was in fifth grade, she weighted 250 pounds and had lap band surgery.

"It was a last resort kind of thing, and I think my parents and I were desperate for a solution that would make me healthy," she told The Huffington Post.

She explained that the lap band helped her lose weight, but that it also made her severely sick. She told HuffPost she later had the saline removed that keeps the band tight.

"The band remained in place, and I continue to get sick when eating to this day, but it no longer restricted how much I could eat," she said. "As a result, I gained all of the weight back and then some."

As she wrote in her Facebook post, Miller later lost half her body weight in nine months when she was 20. At 21, she decided to no longer let a number on the scale determine her value and bought her first bikini. She then celebrated the milestone on Facebook by posting a photo of herself wearing it, which was later posted by Love What Matters and racked up more than 39,000 reactions as of Wednesday.

"You can see it all," she wrote in the caption. "Weird bulges and rolls of fat. Hanging excess skin. Stretch marks, cellulite, surgical and self-harm scars. Awkward protrusion on my abdomen from my lap band."

Looking back at her weight loss experience, Miller said she is against children having weight loss surgery, explaining that limiting what a child eats in this way doesn't "solve the problem of what is making them do so in the first place."

Miller, who is writing a memoir about her experience, plans on having the lap band removed this summer, though she told HuffPost her insurance won't cover the procedure. She said she is "very excited to finally reclaim" her body.

After telling her own inspiring story on Facebook, Miller closed with an important reminder for anyone doubting themselves.

"I want to learn to love all of myself, not just the parts I've been told are 'acceptable,'" she wrote. "Because the secret is, I was always enough. And you are too."

Ivanka Trump Sued For Allegedly Copying Shoe Designs

Luxury footwear label Aquazzura is inflicting pain on its competitors, and not just in the form of sky-high heels.

The Italian brand slapped Ivanka Trump and her eponymous shoe line with a trademark lawsuit Tuesday, accusing her of copying its designs.

The lawsuit states that Trump's line, which is licensed by co-defendant Marc Fisher, is guilty of "repeated infringement" and "deceptive trade practices" by knocking off Aquazzura's "Wild Thing" sandal. Referred to in court documents as one of the brand's best-known and best-selling models, Wild Thing retails for $785

Trump's "Hettie" shoe, above right, retails for $145 and does bear a striking resemblance to its pricier predecessor.

In court filings, Aquazzura said it previously complained to Trump about two other shoes that bear stark similarities to their "Forever Marilyn" and "Belgravia" designs, including photos of both versions.

Matthew Burris, CFO of Marc Fisher, said in a statement to The Huffington Post Wednesday that the lawsuit is "aimed at generating publicity."

"[The Hettie shoe] is representative of a trending fashion style, is not subject to intellectual property law protection and there are similar styles made by several major brands," he said. "The lawsuit is without merit and we will vigorously defend ourselves against the claim."

Copyright infringement suits similar to this one have peppered the footwear and fashion fields. Industry giant Steve Madden has settled with at least two luxury footwear brands over similar-looking designs, and who could forget the painfully long squabble between Christian Louboutin and YSL regarding the right to a red sole? As fast fashion brands regularly produce less expensive versions of high-end items, labels are fighting back

Aquazzura's founding designer Edgardo Osorio started fighting back on social media well before the lawsuit was filed. A quick perusal of his Instagram shows his disdain for Trump's practices started as long as 15 weeks ago, if not earlier.

But Osorio was quick to point out his problem is with the industry, not Trump personally, as he explained to Footwear News in May.

“I have nothing against Ivanka Trump," he said. "It’s not only her, and I’m glad to [call others out on Instagram also]. I plan to do the same with Steve Madden and other people who have ripped us off.... Sometimes I look at the buys in department stores, and I see copies of my shoes. We need to be harder with our retailers. They need to protect us. You can’t cannibalize one business with another."

Aquazzura didn’t return a request for comment by the time of publication, but we have a feeling Trump and the rest of the shoe industry will be hearing from them -- and their counsel -- for a while.

Maisie Williams Channels Her Inner Mermaid With Bikini Photo

While we're stuck inside, in front of our computer screens, Maisie Williams is living her best life on a beach in Italy.

The "Game of Thrones" actress shared a little glimpse of her fun in the sun on Instagram Wednesday with a bikini photo. In the shot, the 19-year-old actress channels her inner Little Mermaid while standing on a rock in the water, arms stretched wide open. Naturally, she injected her trademark sense of humor into the caption.

"I'm Ariel, minus the tail and the tits," she wrote.

And just for comparison's sake:

Yup, nailed it.

But to be clear, Williams doesn't need to look like Disney's underwater princess to be a downright beach babe, because she already is one.

This Ad Party Invite Is Straight Out Of ‘Mad Men’ — And Not In A Good Way

Sometimes, you just want to kick back and party without worrying about sexism. Unfortunately, we live in a world where that's not always possible.

Tuesday, some participants in the Cannes Lions international advertising festival received a party invitation stipulating that only “attractive females and models” were welcome. The invitation was for The Wednesday Party, sponsored by Thrillist Media Group and digital agency VaynerMedia, AdWeek reports.

Potential female guests were asked to send “recent untouched photos” or links to social media for review.

Someone forwarded the email to advertising consultant and women’s advocate Cindy Gallop, who made it pretty clear on Twitter how she felt about the requirements:

Both VaynerMedia CEO Gary Vaynerchuk and Thrillist CEO Ben Lerer said that they had nothing to do with the with the invitation, which came from a third-party promoter.

“No one at Thrillist (or Vayner for that matter) knew anything about what this vendor was doing and we are clearly appalled by it,” wrote Lerer in an internal email forwarded to The Huffington Post. He also wrote they would no longer be working with the vendor and would be “more stringent” in selecting who they work with going forward.

Vaynerchuk said in a video response to Gallop that he was “mortified” for the email and was trying to find out more details about how it came to be.

When HuffPost called the number listed on the invitation, we repeatedly got a busy signal. However, a Google search links the number with events company iGetin. The company’s website appears to be down.

Even so, it’s still a little alarming anyone thought this was a good idea in 2016.

Luckily, Kathy Ruiz, creative director at ad agency NVRLND, had some helpful edits that they might want to take into consideration next time.

Simple & Affordable Ways To Look & Feel Good At The Beach This Summer

The beach is supposed to be a 'happy place,' - a place to kick back, relax, and not worry about a thing. Still, as a woman, I can't help but want to look and feel good at this serene place during the summer. Let's be honest ... between the humidity and sweat, accomplishing either of those is not always easy.

Over the past few years I've been experimenting with different low-budget and simple things to do in order to achieve both. Based off what I found works best, here's how you too can look and feel good at the beach this summer.

Plan ahead with hair humidity hacks.

There can be a lot of work that goes into looking good (unless you are Heidi Klum perhaps who seems to be naturally beautiful). I was never the kind of girl who could be bothered with spending hours in front of the mirror or preparing my outfits each week. I've always just wanted quick and simple fixes.

One of my biggest beach beauty concerns was my hair - I was getting sick of it always looking a mess a few hours into my beach retreat, so I tried some humidity hacks such as Ry's Humidity Hacks for Summer and fell in love with these two:

1. Use a clean toothbrush and comb your hair with hairspray in order to keep small areas of frizz at bay. (If you get your hair wet at the beach, this hack will cancel itself out. I personally tend to avoid the ocean and rarely get my hair wet at the beach, so it works well for me.)

2. Wash your hair less. Your hair has natural oils and washing too frequently strips them away, according to Ry. I now swear by dry shampoo and bring a small bottle to the beach with me. (This hack works great before, during, and after the beach. As your hair dries off after you dive into the ocean, freshen it up with your dry shampoo.)

Replace the foundation with a pressed powder over a light BB cream.

I've found that a lot of foundations would just sweat off my face when it got hot but were also too heavy for a casual beach day. I now use two inexpensive drug store products and save my pricey makeup for nights out. Both of the products have an SPF in them so I don't have to worry about applying sunblock to my face. I found that by using each product alone, they would melt off.

By combining the two, I get extra coverage that lasts longer. Pictured below are the two products I use. I discovered the CC powder by accident - after getting frustrated with the BB cream not lasting, I went into the local drugstore and it was the only CC pressed powder the store had. I chose the CC over a regular pressed powder because the BB cream alone does not cover up in imbalance in color on my left cheek. It ended up being a major win - not only did it work great and last for several hours (when combined with the BB cream) but it was inexpensive (less than $15) and came with a mirror and brush (convenient!). I brought it to the beach with me a few times incase I needed touch ups but since it lasts, I never had to use it while there.

I'm sure applying the CC powder over a foundation would work just as good but haven't yet found a light enough foundation that I like.

Side note: The BB cream was also an accidental purchase. The buy one get one 50% off sale at the time drew me in. I bought two different BB creams from the brand and ended up liking the one and loving this one. Sales = great opportunities to try new products.

Waterproof mascara is a must.

I've used the following and based on price and overall makeup result, I'd recommend them.

• Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof Mascara (less than $7)
• e.l.f Waterproof Lengthening and Volumizing Mascara (less than $8)
• L'Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Waterproof Mascara (less than $12)

Frozen fruit = healthy, delicious, and cooling.

It's always tempting to visit my local boardwalk food stands and shops which are typically filled with pizza, fries, donuts, bagels, and other unhealthy eats. Can you relate? Feeling bloated while in a bikini? No thanks. I now pack accordingly and cheat less. Frozen blueberries are my favorite beach snack and have been associated with decreasing risk of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease in addition to having other health benefits, reported Medical News Today.

I put them in small containers the night before then pop them into the freezer. They tear apart easily making them easy to eat when frozen. Frozen grapes have also worked well for me. Red grapes in particular are low in calories and fat plus pack a number of essential vitamins and minerals according to Livestrong.

Freshen up with a spray deodorant and facial spray.

Choose your favorite spray deodorant (I prefer smaller bottles to limit how much I carry to the beach). My favorite facial spray is a recommendation from one of Carli Bybel's beauty videos - Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rose Water.

De-stress by coloring.

A few years ago I brought a kids coloring book to my parent's house along with some colored pencils. My dad asked what I was doing with them. I told him I like to color - it's relaxing. He found it surprising until he tried it himself. Why didn't I think of the now trendy adult coloring book idea back then?

In 2014, Huffington Post Spain ran an article on how coloring can help adults combat stress - the article was translated here. It stated, "...coloring has a de-stressing effect because when we focus on a particular activity, we focus on it and not on our worries. But it also brings out our imagination and takes us back to our childhood, a period in which we most certainly had a lot less stress."

So grab your favorite coloring instruments and coloring book and feel good by coloring.

Have a wonderful summer!
