The Library Hotel, Madison Avenue and 41st Street (photos:Library Hotel)

The elegant boutique Library Hotel is housed in the landmark 1921 Hill & Stout building at 41st street on the corner of Madison Avenue, two blocks from the Public Library. A great example of Neo-Gothic architecture from the turn of the previous century, a terra cotta facade of columns of alternating diamond brick patterns charges up to the sky framing beautiful sandstone arches and copper clad projecting bays with delightful Gothic motifs. The building pulls one back to the early artistic expressions of NYC architecture in the early 1900s before Art Deco became all the rage.

The hotel's literary theme is evident upon entering the quiet foyer as the first shelves of the 6000 books in the Library Hotel's collection are on display lining the walls leading to the front desk. As each room is numbered along the Dewey decimal system, as in a library's catalogue, each room has its own personal book collection. One might call this a 'novel' approach.

One loves to feel pampered and protected, especially in a demanding city like New York, and the Library Hotel proves a charming oasis from the busy world. A delight at only 60 rooms on 12 floors, one feels the advantage of staying in a boutique hotel immediately and the extra attention of the staff that affords. I noticed the Library Collection staff members go out of their way on several occasions to connect with me and insure our needs or concerns were being met. It made it clear to me why this hotel is in Trip Advisors' top ten.

2016-09-23-1474674068-5606503-IMG_4481.JPG

The rooms are sumptuous, and elegant, carefully designed and exceedingly comfortable. FYI: each room's collection of books are organized by category so that no two rooms overlap the same subject. If your collection is somehow lacking, all books downstairs are available to be selected to be taken to your room for the duration of your stay.

Sometimes in a landmark building you get architectural beauty which may come with the trade off of limited space. This Hill & Stout design, for example, was constructed on a footprint 110 feet wide and only 25 feet deep! But the library hotel uses every inch to its advantage and designed rooms that provide comfort and elegance. Each room also has a marble tiled bathroom that is carefully appointed for a very luxurious experience and offers one of the city's best values off one of the busiest avenues.

Reading room

The hotel has a 'reading room' on the second floor, which is a large comfortable room with excellent views of Madison Avenue and 41st street. A complimentary coffee and espresso machine is available, with pastries and fruit 24 hours a day, an unusual amenity you rarely find in any hotel. A complimentary breakfast is also served here every morning from 7:30 to 10, and a wine and cheese is offered every evening from 5pm to 8pm where prosecco, red wine and domestic cheeses are available. Many tables and banquettes are available to sit at, as well as an entire book case wall for guests to make selections for their reading pleasure. I used this room to visit in the late hours to write, truly appreciating the 24 hour access as I am quite the night owl.

The mid-town location of the hotel puts it near Fifth Avenue shopping, and the culture and museums of mid-town as well, as well as lower mid-town, Bryant Park and Grand Central Station.

The New York Public Library from the Library Hotel

The proximity to the New York Public Library, which you can see if you turn right out of the hotel's front door, also inspired a visit to that architectural masterpiece. As I walked along Library Way, the two blocks connecting Madison ave to Fifth along 41st street, I was able to appreciate as many of the 96 bronze plaques embedded in the concrete sidewalk as I could, quoting 45 writers from 11 countries, over 20 centuries, a project completed in the late 1990s by the New York Public Library and local buildings and businesses.

At the library I took in the exhibits and sat quietly on the third floor gallery amidst the historic portraits of our country's leaders and library's founders, reading up on Alexander Hamilton, who happened to be on exhibit on the first floor where his personal letters were on display in the lobby.

The Library Hotel also has an elegant roof top 'writers room' and balcony, which is always opened for the guests, and also has a bar available from 7 to 11, which is a lovely way to take in the panorama of midtown and relax with a cocktail in the open night air of New York City. Watching the city from the twelfth floor with no roof overhead is an unusual treat as just about every square inch of air space in this town is usually cut off, off limits or claimed by private companies or residents with penthouse gardens.

The hotel has a relationship with the New York Sports Club, which has multiple locations throughout the city, and conveniently had one location just four blocks from the hotel, an easy walk which I took advantage of during my stay as I'm a bit of a gym enthusiast and hate to miss a day of my work out especially while traveling.

I took advantage of both offerings in the reading room during my stay, the breakfast before an adventure down into Greenwich Village, and the wine and cheese later in the evening which empowered my walk to my Broadway show which was only a few avenues across town to Times Square. Knowing the comfort that awaited me on my return made each sojourn all the easier.

From the writing room, to the roof top garden, to your own elegant room, you're well taken care of in a home away from home, while being in the heart of one of the greatest cities in the world.

Rooms at the Library Hotel come with free wi-fi, minibars, flat screen tv's and junior suites come with small pull out couches that could sleep another guest. Access to the second floor reading room and their teas, coffees, cookies and fruit is available 24 hours a day. There is a business center on the 2nd floor next to the reading room for computer needs or printing.

The Silk Road: Perfumes and More from the East at Pitti Fragranze

I look to the East for my inspiration, because I believe understanding -- not indifference -- promotes peace.

I was reminded of this recently when I heard Italian journalist and writer Oriana Fallaci say, in an old TV interview, that we "don't need soldiers and armies but we must use the power of passion if we wish to combat hatred". Her rhetoric was aimed at the Muslim world, where she prophetically perceived, years before IS and the likes, misdirected passion aimed at creating hatred and wars.

While I don't agree with our respected Italian journalist on a lot of points, I do wholeheartedly take her words as gold when it comes to combating hatred. It's only a positive, passionate heart that will see this chaotic world as a grand possibility, a chance to discover something magical and wonderful rising from its metaphorical ashes. And at our most basic level, it's our senses that allow us to perceive the humanity around us -- the sights, sounds, touches and smells of the world.

It is on this last sense, the olfactory one, that I wish to concentrate for this blog. In particular, what comes from the East, the so-called Orient, a word that has now fallen on hard times, both literally and in a sense, figuratively. The Middle East has exploded in wars and revolutions, while the far East falls under tidal waves, hurricanes, monsoons and earthquakes. And yet, when we step into a store to purchase a new fragrance, or shop for perfume to gift our loved ones, we can't avoid the oils, scents and ingredients hailing from the East.

At the recent Pitti Fragranze, a grandiose scent event that takes place every year in Florence inside the historic Stazione Leopolda, I met, talked to, smelled and tried on everyone and everything that has to do with perfume. And I came away with a few notes of the Orient. From Oud, a prime ingredient in many luxury perfumes today, to distant memories of Morocco, Afghanistan and Iran, I found the Middle East within Florence.

Richard Lüscher Britos -- '32ºN 08ºE' Marrakech

Three childhood friends started the brand Richard Lüscher Britos out of their passion for cultural and biological diversity. Their fragrances are inspired by "terroirs", a French term typically used to describe the particularity of a wine, due to the environment where it is produced. Marvin, Lukas and Serena, hailing from Switzerland, vouch for their perfumes to be fair trade, with ingredients produced in a sustainable manner, transparency of origin and harvesting and a pure nature -- 75% of the components in Richard Lüscher Britos perfumes are organic.

2016-09-24-1474700566-8220681-Untitled.jpeg.jpg

Now that said, a perfume has to smell great, inspire visions of faraway lands and distant memories to impress me. And their latest scent, the "Sixth Terroir" is inspired by the city of Marrakech and bears its coordinates "32ºN 08ºE". It's a magical journey down the alleys of the Red City, complete with Moroccan mint tea, honey sweet roses, hints of figs and oasis sands. Lukas Lüscher explained the thought process behind the scent:

Hospitality is sacred in the Arab world. People could not have survived in those harsh desert environments without helping each other. And it is out of the spirit of this sacred hospitality that our scent is created. If you find yourself in Marrakech, you would probably be invited by a kind host inside his home, where he would offer you a cup of sweet mint tea. It's a ritual of welcoming the guest, and igniting a conversation. After a leisurely tea, you would then probably venture out into the alleys of the city, and there you would smell the fragrance of spices.

On a personal note, this scent felt joyous and fresh, the mint tea and watermelon notes simple and sweet while the spices made it dance in a new sphere, a bit like what happens to Marrakech's main square, Jamaa el Fna, when it changes from the morning market to its evening open-air-restaurant and magical meeting place. I fell in love with "32ºN 08ºE" and I'm about to finish my sample... Which means a trip to the world wide web to figure out where to buy it.

Otta - An Iranian Renaissance in Florence

2016-09-24-1474700604-2065453-IMG_3251.jpg

Iranian-born Roshanak Nouri is an artist, a wearable artist. Her beautiful, handmade in Italy silk scarves combine the beauty of a Persian garden with the skills of Florentine craftsmanship. Nouri believes in Renaissance, as a sort of personal word -- she felt reborn in the city of Florence which she now calls home -- and also a rebirth of style, of certain influences in a new environment. Which means that Persian garden gets reinvented with Florentine flowers, or the portrait of a woman is interpreted in a beautiful Iranian palette.

Even the name of the company is an ode to Florence, though of the city seen through classical eyes. In fact, during Dante's and Boccaccio's era, Otta was the ancient Italian way of saying "hour".

Otta scarves can be worn by men and women alike, and I personally loved the idea of wearing one as a men's pocket square, each day changing the colors according to the fold. Nouri's creation are also perfect tied on a handbag or, of course, worn as a traditional foulard. Whichever the way, Otta scarves feel like the perfect accessory for this trip down the Silk Road.

From Morocco to Afghanistan with Coquillete Paris

2016-09-24-1474700644-7716264-IMG_3287.jpg

Nothing says successful perfume to me like having a few people stop you on the street to ask "What are you wearing?" I'll admit this happened a couple of times when I was wearing both Coquillete Paris' 'Herat', inspired by a poetry contest for young Afghan women, and 'Tan-Tan' which is named after the Moroccan desert city where the Venus of Tan-Tan, an ancient artifact which may be the first ever made outlining a woman's naked form, was found.

'Herat' is, almost tongue in cheek, an interpretation of Afghan hashish, the company claims, combining tobacco and jasmine notes with actual wood amber hashish, myrrh and vetiver. It smells like a beautiful jasmine incense, but more feminine and delicious than any words could describe. 'Tan-Tan' is instead a mystical blend inspired by pine and absinthe, interpreted by combining notes of Moroccan white fig, bergamot, jasmine, patchouli and sandalwood. It feels like a magical day in the desert, surrounded by a breeze from the ocean.

Only downside is I'm running out of the precious juice (as perfume insiders call actual liquid perfume) wrapped in those cute little black boxes that I received as samples... Again, a trip to the internet is needed!

The Leather of Andalusia by Rania J.

2016-09-24-1474700712-779950-IMG_3283.jpg

Talking about the Arab world cannot exist without talking about perfumers from the Middle East. Rania Jouaneh is one such perfumer and nose based in Paris, whose childhood traveling around the MENA region has given birth to a wonderful niche line of perfumers named after her -- Rania J. I stumbled upon two samples of her 'Cuir Andalou' -- Andalusian leather -- almost by accident in Florence -- a happy accident!

The fragrance is perfectly unisex, as most great perfumes are these days, irreverently smoky with a delicious flowery finish. It combines notes of leather, of course, pachouli, saffron, neroli, rose and violet, with a balance of oud, and vetiver -- notes that add that more masculine touch, and round it out to perfection. The packaging is also divine and made me think of both Rumi's poetry and Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet.

And, Jouaneh has the perfect quote on her website, one I deeply believe in when it comes to scent:

She envisages her perfume as a key accessory, one to be worn as jewelry for the skin.

Creating an India Scent Story with CRS TrendLAB

2016-09-24-1474700800-8812503-CreatinganIndiaScentStory007.jpg

I'll admit, I've grown very fond of Annou Iyer and Roney Simon directors of CRS TrendLab, a marketing, consulting, imports and distribution company based both in Delhi, India and Torino, Italy. They share an enthusiasm for cross-cultural exchanges and sharing experiences that will open up the world to new opportunities. And they do it through fashion, and now fragrance.

This time around at Pitti Fragranze, CRS TrendLAB offered a great talk, an introduction to the world of scent in and from India, featuring Shakti Vinay Shukla, the Director of the prestigious Fragrance & Flavour Development Centre and Rajiv Sheth who is an Entrepreneur and Founder of the brand, All Good Scents, India's first and very unique online fragrance perfumery.

It's unbelievable to realize that India is an untapped market, when it comes to the distribution of international luxury perfume labels to the upwardly mobile middle class, which has boomed in the last ten years. But the market is also relatively unused for prime resources, and India is where Ayurveda comes from, after all, a practice founded on essential oils and natural Attar.

Iyer explained:

The earliest scents known to India were the healing scents practiced from the times of pre-Vedic and Vedic periods, introduced through Ayurveda. Ayurvedic remedies with the use of aromatic herbs and fragrant plants for well-being, hygiene, treatment of ailments, beauty and age-control is well known even today.

Ayurveda is India's traditional, natural system of medicine that has been practiced for more than 5,000 years. Ayur (Life) Veda (Knowledge or Science) provides an integrated approach to preventing and treating illness through lifestyle interventions and natural therapies.

The distillation of scents, perfumes, fragrant liquids and ointments is one area where the knowledge of chemistry was applied in India since ancient times.

My own journey into Indian fragrances started as soon as I set foot on the ground of the Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Bombay. There, wafting from all sides, was a mixture of engine oil, tar, burning tires and jasmine hair oil that will forever represent the perfume of India for me. It's a scent I chased around temples, through souvenir shops and finally found, in a completely different incarnation of rose oil, outside the main palace in Udaipur.

So, I personally can't wait for the first best-selling Indian perfume, one I hope will pay tribute to the cacophony of scents that represent this wondrous country!

Drop Everything: Prince George And Princess Charlotte Have Arrived In Canada

Well this is awfully exciting, eh?

Another royal tour of Canada kicked off adorably Saturday afternoon as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince George and Princess Charlotte arrived in Victoria, British Columbia.

The trip marks Will and Kate’s second trip to Canada ― the first happened in 2011 ― and, even more exciting, little Charlotte’s first-ever tour with her family. The former Kate Middleton looked flawless as usual in a navy Jenny Packham dress and the queen’s much-borrowed maple leaf brooch, but it was a very curious George and one-year-old Charlotte who really stole the show. Just look at this wave!

The next seven days are chock full of activity for the family, who will visit five communities within British Columbia, attend a reception with Canadian youth, visit the Great Bear Rainforest and more. They’ll also spend Sunday with Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie, which can only mean countless photo ops in the very near future ― and the most consecutive Charlotte sightings since she was born in May 2015.

Take in all the cuteness below.

7 Reasons You Should Go Old School And Use A Shoe Cobbler

$
0
0

Footwear is incredibly important. Your shoes impact your posture, how you walk, and how you present yourself.

Why not take care of something that’s responsible for so much?

This is where a cobbler comes in ― and no, we’re not talking about a dessert.

There are a lot of benefits to taking your shoes in to someone who practices the time-honored profession of shoe repair. It may seem antiquated, but trust us: Your feet and wallet will thank you for the extra care.

Here’s why a cobbler is the best:

1. Repairing your shoes can save you serious cash, especially if your shoe collection is pricey.

If you spend a ton of your hard-earned money on creating an awesome shoe collection, you’re going to want to preserve that investment. A little known fact is that better quality shoes can be resoled anywhere from three to ten times. So, ladies, those stilettos? Even if they’ve been shredded from weddings or long nights out, the soles can probably be swapped out.

The wildcard on most shoes is the upper part, under the ball of your foot. If the uppers get wrecked ― which usually happens on a more cheaply made shoe — those babies are likely a goner.

In general, most cobblers will tell you that if a repair costs less than half the price of new shoes, it’s more cost-effective to just repair the old ones.

2. You’re helping the environment.

Shoes are difficult to recycle because they’re often made of different plastics, fibers and other materials. By repairing them, you’re keeping them out of landfills.

If you have to trash your shoes, donating to charity shops like Goodwill or Salvation Army is a good bet, according to TreeHugger. Even if the shoes are in poor condition, those shops will send the items that can’t be sold (in the U.S. or other countries) to textile recyclers. Nike also features a reuse-a-shoe service, recycling footwear of any brand.

3. You’re likely supporting a small business.

Many cobblers are small business owners and have been running their shops for years. They help bolster the communities they’re a part of and they can offer customized, personal service where larger stores can’t.

4. Even your new shoes can get soled to prevent damage from ever occurring in the first place.

Cobblers offer (seriously underused) preventive care. They can put rubber soles on the bottoms of new, leather-soled shoes to keep them in good condition.

Leather wears down very quickly,” David Mesquita, owner of Leather Spa in New York City, told Woman’s Day. “Thin rubber soles, which are available in many colors, will blend right in with your heels or flats. Not only will they prevent the leather from wearing down, but they’ll also keep water from seeping into the soles, which can travel to the upper part of the shoe and create even more damage.”

Cobblers can also put on inserts that’ll ease the pain of a tight strap or heel, heel grips on the bottom of treadless shoes, and lifts on the bottom of low-to-the-ground shoes that are susceptible to fast damage.

5. Cobblers enable you to snag the gotta-have-them pair of shoes that are maybe a little too small or too big.

Cobblers have stretching machines that can increase length and width. They can even stretch the front of a shoe where it squishes your toes. For shoes that are too big, they can insert thicker soles, tongue pads or heel grips.

For those having issues with boots fitting their calves, cobblers can also take those in or let them out a bit.

Despite all of this wiggle room, be cognizant of materials when thinking of getting them stretched or stuffed with inserts. If a shoe is leather or suede, odds are good you can stretch them a bit. Patent leather or other plastic-y materials? Move on to another pair, friend.

6. Cobblers will make your shoes capable of weathering the weather.

You can buy a water repellent for your shoes in most big box stores, but a cobbler can also apply the stuff if you’re not down to DIY. Spraying your suede or leather shoes will keep the elements from ruining the inside of your home where you spray it.

7. Your feet will be more comfortable.

When you break in a pair of shoes and they mold to your feet like a second skin, they sort of become your go-tos. Why not put in some dough to keep those babies in your rotation? Or, a better example, what about those high-priced shoes that make you feel like a million bucks and look great? Taking care of those shoes instead of hoping that lightning strikes twice is a much better bet.

I Just Purged 80 Percent Of My Closet. Why Do I Feel So Guilty?

$
0
0

This article is part of HuffPost’s “Reclaim” campaign, an ongoing project spotlighting the world’s waste crisis and how we can begin to solve it.

When my husband came home one night and announced that his job would be moving us to Hong Kong from New York City for one year, he also said my overstuffed mess of a closet could not come with.

Since Hong Kong apartments are notoriously tiny, he said, we’d have to downsize.

“Try to pack everything you need for the year in one carry-on suitcase and one duffle bag,” he said, allegedly not mocking me.

After a long weekend spent earnestly attempting to KonMari my life, I realized I could declutter all I wanted, but the reason my wardrobe was in a constant state of disarray was not because I couldn’t fold properly. It was because my shopping habits were dismal.

Though I’m no spendthrift, I’d begun to frequent department store sale racks and fast-fashion behemoths ― H&M, Zara and other affordable brands that churn out chic styles at a breakneck pace ― more often than I care to admit. I donate old clothes to Goodwill a few times a year, and sometimes consign nicer pieces I own, but lately I’ve felt myself devolving into a sad cliché of privilege and consumerism.

So I used my upcoming move as an excuse to overhaul my closet and purchasing patterns. My goal seemed simple at first: In six weeks, pare down my wardrobe to the fewest amount of pieces necessary, responsibly donate the excess items and eliminate cheap-yet-trendy clothes from my life going forward.

Turns out, letting go of things I owned was easy, but finding responsible ways to get rid of them was difficult. Here’s how I went about changing my shopping habits, purging most of my closet and trying to find new homes for all my old items.

First, I unsubscribed from about 1,000 newsletters.

Changing my retail routine would start by reversing the relationship I have with stores. Instead of seeking out stores for the things I need, I’d gotten used to opening my inbox and viewing the tons of clothing options waiting for me.

Without even realizing it, I had become the recipient of daily missives from ASOS, Everlane, Gilt, Bloomingdales, J.Crew, J.Crew Factory, Shopbop, Net-a-Porter, Tibi, The Outnet, Mr. Porter, Neiman Marcus, Rent The Runway, Gap, Gap Kids, Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, Buy Buy Baby ― and at this point I had to step away from my computer because I don’t even have kids, so how is this happening to me?

Then I emptied my closet and dresser of everything I don’t wear regularly.

This included but was not limited to undergarments, socks, shoes and outerwear that were:

  • Uncomfortable

  • Itchy

  • Too tight

  • Too loose

  • Generally ill-fitting

  • Stained

  • Falling apart

Anything that made me feel bad about myself had to go, too.

I went from 12 T-shirts down to seven. From 17 pairs of socks to nine. And from 11 pairs of jeans down to two. I also only wear one pair of sweatpants from the pile of six that sit in my dresser. So I nixed the superfluous five.

These incremental decreases seemed minor at first, but before long I was tossing entire drawers of old swimwear, workout clothes and sweaters from high school. When I added it all up, six 13-gallon garbage bags of “stuff” were removed from my average-sized New York City closet.

But now I had a problem.

My six garbage bags totaled 78 gallons of mostly impulsive fast-fashion purchases, exactly the kind of clothes contributing to an environmental crisis that’s only worsening. What was I going to do with it all?

The average American throws away 70 pounds of textiles each year, according to the Council for Textile Recycling. I'm not actually sure how heavy each trash bag was. Whether I got rid of more or less than the national average, it was still a terrifying amount.

Worse, 85 percent of the stuff we toss ends up in landfills, while only 15 percent gets donated and recycled, per an estimate by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Knowing this, I couldn’t just leave my trash bags of clothing out by the curb.

But donating secondhand items to charities doesn’t guarantee that they’ll be worn again. Thrift shops including Goodwill and Salvation Army stores have more clothing donations than they know what do with. A significant portion of donations are typically reclaimed by textile recyclers and turned into rags. And now that everyone’s closet is brimming with $8 tops and $12 skirts, thrift shops are no longer the cheapest ticket in town.

So I searched for places where I could resell my fast-fashion items to people who wanted them.

I had the most luck with the consignment app Poshmark. The friendly community of secondhand clothing sellers and purchasers embrace buying fast-fashion pieces, but the process takes more time and dedication than I was able to give, since my moving day was fast approaching. I was able to sell a handful of pieces, like the J.Crew sweater and Zara top below. It was only a drop in the bucket.

I then called my friends to see if they needed any clothes.

Turns out this was the best way to move a bunch of inventory.

I went back through my stuff with different friends in mind and put aside specific items for specific people ― dresses for folks who had weddings to attend, and work clothes for friends in more formal business environments.

Much to my surprise, my friends took many of the clothes I put aside for them.

Eventually, I reduced my garbage bags from six to five. I donated the remaining bags.

The moving company I hired offered a free service in which it took any bags or boxes of clothing or canned food donations to local New York charities. All food donations support Move For Hunger and the Food Bank for New York City, and clothing donations are given to Salvation Army.

While some of the items from the five bags may end up clothing someone in need, it’s safe to say that many of the items will be turned into rags, end up in landfills or flood markets in developing countries, a reality that can devastate local manufacturing and economic growth.

So what did I learn?

Own fewer things.

Just because I downsized doesn’t mean the items magically disappeared from this earth. Save from the few items that went to new homes, the majority of the things I tossed just became someone else’s problem.

By the time I moved, I could fit all of my clothes (plus a tennis racket) into one duffle bag. My shoes, accessories and toiletries took up my carry-on suitcase.

But even with a sparsely filled closet, I’ve still only worn a fraction of the items above, and many of them are still ones I bought from fast-fashion retailers in the past few years.

I haven’t purchased a new thing since my massive purge, and it’s safe to say I won’t for some time.

Prince George Refuses High-Five From Justin Trudeau, Is All Small Cranky Kids Everywhere

$

Well, it’s official: Prince George is, in fact, a normal three-year-old boy. And he’s apparently the only human not taken with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

George, Princess Charlotte and their parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived in Victoria, Canada Saturday for a week-long tour. And despite looking impossibly fresh for having just taken an international flight across too many time zones, it seemed George was in no mood for the social norms of children his age.

Trudeau tried to welcome George as grownups typically do, with a high-five. Unfortunately, the little prince was in no mood for high-fives, low-fives, or any of the fives:

Anyone who has ever taken a long flight with kids or been around a small child at all knows they aren’t always in the mood to dole out free hand slaps like candy, but watching international treasure Trudeau crash and burn is still pretty hysterical.

The video also proves that the former Kate Middleton has become a normal 34-year-old mom, which is to say impressive. Watch at the end as she gracefully bends down in a tight dress and heels while holding a small child, only to stand right up as if it isn’t a feat of superhuman strength that awes us every time.

Sigh. Skip to the 21-second mark to watch all the cranky kid drama unfold.

Some of them are pretty damn boss. Others? Not so much.

We’ve rounded up a bunch of the newest stuff celebrities are hawking these days, ranking them from worst to best.

8. Gigi Hadid x Tommy Hilfiger V-Neck Cardigan, $360

So, this cardigan is a pretty bold piece of Americana. The collection as a whole sort of looks like “Barbie Does Labor Day Weekend,” with Gigi as Barbie. But just imagine rolling into your office with this on, and knowing you spent $360 on it.

7. Fenty Puma by Rihanna Oversized Crew Neck T-Shirt, $80

This is a giant white T-shirt. That’s all this is. Where’s the Rihanna drama? Where’s the sex appeal? We could go to the local Walgreens and buy 3 giant Hanes T-Shirts for an eighth of the price! #LongLiveHanes

6. Kim Kardashian’s Kimoji Peach Choker, $40

We appreciate the peach emoji and use it often, but to wear it? TOO FAR, KIM. Too far. Especially when it’s got some weird discoloration ― what’s that white part, Kim? What is that???

5. Suki Waterhouse and Poppy Jamie’s Pop & Suki Camera Bag, $195

We’re down with the classic cut of this bag and the fact that it comes in #millennialpink, but it’s pretty basic for the cost. We probably wouldn’t buy it for ourselves, but we’d happily accept it as a gift, if anyone wants to buy us one.

4. Victoria Beckham for Estee Lauder Bronzer in Java Sun, $65

This is a decent bronzer with an incredibly soft texture and solid pigment. It also comes in chic packaging ― seriously, it’s very reminiscent of Tom Ford’s line. It makes us feel like we could maybe be as classy as Vic, but it comes at a price.

3. Beyonce’s Double Layer Camo Bra by Ivy Park, $52

Reasonably priced, fashionable, comfortable, and the closest we’ll likely ever get to being something like Beyoncé. Are we sold? We’re sold.

2. Kylie Jenner’s Kylie Cosmetics Kyliner Kits, $36 each

We know, we know ― hear us out on this one. These kits, along with her infamous lip kits, are actually legit. They come with a brush, a pot of creme gel liner, and a pencil liner. They’re also incredibly long-lasting. We’re talking all-day-all-night wear. Damn, Kylie. You’ve got us hooked.

1. Christian Siriano for Lane Bryant Perforated Circle Skirt, $108

YES HONEY! This skirt is EVERYTHING. On trend, fab for curvy bodies, and in a price range that isn’t going to murder your bank account ― have we died and gone to heaven? Hail Christian!

Couple Gets 'Big' Surprise When Tom Hanks Crashes Their Wedding Photos

Life is like a box of chocolates: You never know when Tom Hanks is going to show up in your wedding photos.

Photographer Meg Miller had what can only be described as the ultimate New York City celebrity moment over the weekend when Hanks approached the bride and groom she was photographing in Central Park.

Miller said people running in the park were mostly staying far away from the shoot, but at one point she put her camera down to let “this guy” pass when he came too close to the couple.

Except the guy didn’t pass. Instead, he approached the newlyweds, “took off his hat, just leaned right into the group and said ‘Hi, I’m Tom Hanks,’” she said.

According to Miller, he then proceeded to shake hands, kissed the bride’s hand and wished the pair congratulations ― even offering up a few wedding services of his own.

“He asked if they needed a wedding officiant, because he is an ordained minister,” she said with a laugh.

After taking a selfie with the couple, which he posted on his own Instagram, Hanks just “sort of took off running,” Miller said. “Had he just run past us we would have never known it was him.”

Elizabeth and Ryan! Congrats and blessings! Hanx.

A photo posted by Tom Hanks (@tomhanks) on

Miller told The Huffington Post the experience was pretty much a first for her. While she’s had minor celebrity encounters at other nuptials she’s worked, they were “no Tom Hanks-level celebrity.”

Nothing like a “Big” surprise on your wedding day, eh? Head to Miller’s site and Instagram to see more of her work. And congrats from us, too, Elisabeth and Ryan!

The Duchess of Cambridge Wore An Unexpected Dress And It Was Almost Perfect

Prince William and his family have been in Canada just two days, and have already blessed the masses with a combination of cute kid moments and fashion favorites

For their second day of engagements on Sunday, the media phenomenon formerly known as Kate Middleton absolutely slayed in an altered version of a printed, scalloped-edged Alexander McQueen dress.

Although Kate wears McQueen regularly, the bold look was more high-fashion than we’re used to seeing her in.

 There were fiery red accessories!

She even coordinated with fellow style icon Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, the wife of Canada’s prime minister.

It had all the makings of a royal home run, except for one minor detail. The dress as it was originally designed for McQueen’s resort 2017 collection was just plain cooler, with bigger, squared sleeves and a shorter hem.

We would have given our chance to high-five Justin Trudeau just to see Kate take a big, billowy-sleeved risk in the unedited version of the dress.

Still, we’re calling this look a win, and can’t wait to see what else the duchess has up her tighter, tailored sleeves.

Jada Pinkett Smith Reveals Why She's Happier Now Than Ever

Jada Pinkett Smith says time has taught her a lot of things, but mostly that aging ain’t so bad.

The actress, who celebrated her 45th birthday on Sept. 18, says she’s having the time of her life.

“With age comes a lot of wisdom and I’m happier now than I have ever been, so it’s good,” she said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Pinkett Smith said growing older has helped her become more confident and accepting of herself.

“This is me, this is my skin, this is my face, this is my body, love it or leave it,” she said. “I think as you get older, you really get to the point where you just don’t care anymore what people think. There’s a certain freedom that comes with that, [which] you really don’t have when you’re young.”

For her, that means rocking a pair of gold grills that were a birthday gift from her 18-year-old son Jaden.

Her career is still going strong after decades in Hollywood and she’s currently starring on Fox’s “Gotham.” When asked about her secret to staying youthful, she simply said, “Happiness.”

For her, that means making her family a priority, including her two teenaged children and husband.

“I feel like I’m beginning a whole new part of my life,” she said, commenting on her soon-to-be empty nest.

Her husband, actor Will Smith, turned 48 Sunday and she posted a tribute to him on Facebook calling him, “a fire of inspiration in my heart.”

Aww.

16 Life-Changing Beauty Hacks Every Busy Mom Needs to Know

For Glamour, by Megan Gustashaw.

Ditch Your Nail Polish

Leslie Price, Editorial Director at Man Repeller: “Going nail polish-free on my fingers and toes has been really helpful. That way you never have to worry about chips, or getting tired of a color. Growing out toenail polish was the most painful thing to watch (it takes months), but now I get pedicures when I can with clear topcoat and it makes life much easier.”

Nails Inc 2-in-1 Base and Top Coat, $8, net-a-porter.com

Embrace Your Natural Hair Texture

Jean Godfrey-June, Beauty Director at Goop: “The hack that changed my life was to accept my natural hair texture. I’d always blow-dried my hair because I just assumed I should. The brilliant hair genius Sally Hershberger told me to stop, and that my wavy hair was like Gisele’s. When I think of the years of my life, and particularly time with my kids, this one sentence saved me...I don’t know how I can ever fully thank her. Find a gorgeous celebrity with your hair type, look at all the pretty pictures of her, and fall a little in love with your hair.”

Wake Up Your Eyes With Liner

Mandana Dayani, Chief Brand Officer at Everything But the House: "Everyone has that ritual that makes them feel confident and pulled together, and mine is eyeliner. I don’t feel dressed unless I’m wearing it. Since becoming a mom, lining my eyes is dual purpose: It makes me feel polished, and also hides any trace of lack of sleep. I’ve gotten my application down to just a few swipes in 2 minutes. I love Charlotte Tilbury eyeliner because it lasts all day."

Charlotte Tilbury Rock 'n' Kohl in Verushka Mink, $27, charlottetilbury.com

Use Coconut Oil Before Bed

Emily Current, Stylist, Creator and Designer of THE GREAT: "I am obsessed with coconut oil. Once a week I slather it all over like a moisturizer and put it in my hair as a deep-conditioning treatment overnight. The next morning, I have the softest skin and hair ever.”

Native Virgin Coconut Oil, $25, target.com

Try Overnight Braids

Shannon Nash, Senior Editor of KourtneyKardashian.com: "Every night before bed, I put my hair in a French braid. When I wake up it's wavy and I don't need any heat styling. Usually I hit the roots with dry shampoo or volume spray and then smooth flyaways with a tiny bit of pomade. Even though my hair isn't super thick, it's really long so it takes forever to blow out. This trick saves me time in that crucial window in the morning when I'm up with my 2-year-old twin boys, trying to get ready for work."

Sachajuan Volume Powder, $35,davidpirrotta.com

Wash Your Hair Less

Mariela Rovito, Co-Founder of Eberjey: "Having short hair is pretty low maintenance as is, but I’ve managed to cut down the time of my daily hair routine by more than half. I used to have the time to wash and blow-dry my hair every day. Now I'm washing it every other day and using a good hair product on wet hair to avoid the blow-dryer all together. Wash-and-go has taken on its true meaning!"

Buy Double-Duty Products

Meritt Elliott, Stylist, Creator and Designer of THE GREAT: "I use a tinted moisturizer with sunscreen, so I’ve combined three skin steps into one. I am loving the Honest Beauty Everything Tinted Moisturizer. I cannot live without at least one swipe of Chanel black mascara, and always have a white ponytail holder on my wrist to secure my unruly hair into a neat topknot."

Honest Beauty Everything Tinted Moisturizer, $28, honestbeauty.com

Get Eyelash Extensions

Joanna Fasching, Head of Design at Bikyni: "My beauty hacks are eyelash extensions and a bold lipstick. My beauty routine has always been quite paired back, but with today's rushed mornings I often don’t have the time to put any makeup on. Eyelash extensions make me look and feel beautiful even when I don’t have anything else on. And adding a bright, bold lipstick pulls it all together."

Invest in Time-Saving Services

Lanie List, Founder of Lovely Bride: "I’ve switched to as many semi-permanent solutions as possible to cut down on my morning get-ready time. Eyebrow embroidery (basically tattoo for your brows) has been a godsend and eliminates the need to wax frequently (see: Tina Lee Skin Care). Blinc Tubing Mascara is no joke and stays on through any daily turbulence. And I’m splurging on gel manicures at Paintbox in New York, which I’ve somehow been able to stretch out for four weeks."

Consider a Low-Maintenance Haircut

Elise Loehnen, Editorial Director, Goop: "I swear by a haircut that requires no work—at worst, a 90 second blow-dry and a tiny bit of product; at best, a comb. When I had my first son, Max, I had long curly hair. I took what I would have spent on a VERY, VERY nice pair of shoes and made an appointment with Chris McMillan with the charge to give me the cut my hair actually wanted (and an added stipulation that I wanted to spend fewer than five minutes dealing with it in the morning). He gave me a skater boy fade—probably the opposite of mom hair. It made my mornings so much faster, and somehow gave me some street cred, too—a miraculous sensation when you’re 25 pounds overweight and lactating. It’s evolved to be a little softer since, but it's just as simple to deal with."

Don't Limit Your Beauty Time to Mornings

Sylvie Ganter, Founder of Atelier Cologne:"Raising five children in two different countries forces you to be efficient at all levels. Since I spend so much time on planes, I have my routine down to a science. I don't wear any makeup and I'll use a facial mask if it's a daytime flight (I fell in love with Biologique Recherche recently, and find it extremely effective). When leaving Paris or New York, I always try to stop by the Clarins Spa in the Air France lounge for a 20-minute facial. It's an amazing way to relax and pamper yourself in an unexpected place at an unexpected time."

Biologique Recherche Creme Mask Vernix, $182,eliteskincare.com

Look for On-the-Go Beauty Solutions

Nadine Abramcyk, Co-founder of Tenoverten: "I always carry a nail polish remover wipe in my bag so that I can save time in the morning and remove my polish on the go if I need to. Whether I'm on the subway or walking down the street, these wipes always seem to be a life-saver as I realize I am walking out the door for a day of meetings with chipped polish and can take it off on my own."

Tenoverten Non-Acetone Polish Remover Wipe, $32, tenoverten.com

Try a Multi-Tasking Balm Stain

Susan Cernek, Editorial and Marketing Consultant (and former Glamour editor!): "The Balm Stainiac is usually my baby shower present for the mom-to-be. It's a lip-and-cheek stain that does double duty, giving you that pretty, well-rested flush, even when you've been up for hours. Bonus: The swab-on formula works for those days when your skin is super dehydrated. So, like, all the days that end in 'Y.'"

The Balm Stainiac, $16, amazon.com

Master the Two-Second Topknot

Tata Harper, Founder of Tata Harper Skincare: "I always pull my hair back to keep it out of my face while doing my skincare routine. In the past I would just use a hair band and style my hair after finishing my skin. Now I use a cute clip so I can create a quick messy bun before I wash my face and leave it in for the day."

Let Your Hair Set While Getting the Kids Ready

Tracey Lomrantz, Director of Brand Marketing at Intermix (and former Glamour editor!): "I work out and take a shower before my baby gets up, then towel dry my hair and spritz it with Bumble and Bumble surf spray, twisting it up into two low buns and wrapping them each with a hair tie. I leave my hair twisted like that while im changing, feeding, and dressing my son, then undo them just before I leave the house. I flip my head upside down for a good shake, and am out the door. It creates perfect beach waves with almost zero effort every time—and keeps my hair out of my baby's very grabby hands."

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray, $27,bumbleandbumble.com

Eliminate Steps Wherever Possible

Clémence von Mueffling, Founder and Editor of Online Magazine *Beauty and Well Being:*

"Having grown up in Paris with a French Voguebeauty editor as my mother, I have learned to not leave the house without a perfect 'au naturel' look. But getting ready in the morning with my 6-year-old twins has required a less time-consuming version. All-in-one products are my go-to. After applying a toning micellar water from Filorga, La Roche-Posay, or REN, or a spritz of thermal water from Avène, I apply my CC cream. It's foundation, moisturizer, primer, and sunscreen all rolled into one. My favorite brands these days are Bobbi Brown and Erborian."

You Can Help Feed People In Need By Deleting Your Food Porn Pics

$

Foodies and photogs will wanna consider sacrificing those food porn pics for a good cause.

For every photo of food Instagram users delete, 11 meals will be donated to people in need as part of the Delete to Feed campaign, organized by nonprofit Feeding America and agriculture and food company Land O’Lakes.

Since Delete to Feed launched last week, social media users have already helped to donate almost 60,000 meals as of Monday afternoon.

The aim is that social media users will take time to reflect while learning about food insecurity, Catherine Fox, marketing director for Land O’Lakes’ Retail Butter and Spreads, told The Huffington Post.

“The whole intent of the campaign is for [social media users], as they take pictures of this beautiful food sitting in front of them, to be aware of how lucky they are and recognizing that there are people who aren’t,” Fox said.

Food insecurity is a big issue in the US. While most households do have dependable access to food, a surprising 15.8 million households were food insecure due to lack of money or other resources at some point in 2015, the United States Department of Agriculture noted.

To participate in the campaign, Instagram users can check out the Delete the Feed website, where they’ll connect and sign into their accounts. Then, they’ll choose a photo to get rid of and the organizations will give back.

“The symbolism behind that is to delete hunger one photo at a time,” Fox said, explaining why users are encouraged to get rid of their food photos.

Fox said that the goal is to get enough Instagram users to participate so that 2.75 million meals are donated to people in need. The campaign ends on October 18, so you’ll have to get rid of your pizza pics before then.

New Wrangler Jeans Ad Forgets What Women’s Empowerment Really Means

$

In an attempt to jump on the body positive marketing bandwagon with many other brands, Wrangler Europe has released a video reminding women that we are more than just our bums. But in an attempt to be empowering, the ad actually comes across as condescending, and even a little pervy.

Starring singer and musician Kimbra and a handful of other talented women from athletes to journalists to choreographers, the almost-four-minute-long commercial spends quite a bit of time zooming in on various women’s asses...all while reminding us that we are more than our asses.

The commercial ends with the hashtag #MoreThanABum splashed across the screen, supposedly meant to encourage women to share their thoughts and opinions about being just that.

But women on Twitter weren’t buying it. After all, we don’t need anyone to tell us that we’re more than just our bodies.

Facebook users have had similar reactions, which prompted a response from the company. Wrangler Europe acknowledged the ad’s criticisms in a comment that has apparently now been deleted. The comment was saved as a screenshot and tweeted by The Digital Fairy.

In the comment, Wrangler Europe explained that the ad’s format was intentional:

We are happy to feel the passion revolving around this ― and to spark a conversation was always what we wanted. This is why we have used this kind of imagery: to grab attention ― then point it towards a more positive way to see the women beyond it.

They also defended the ad and explained that its purpose was to both encourage women to feel and look their best while also reminding women that they should be celebrated for more than just their looks:

Our Body Bespoke line was created around this idea: that a line of jeans engineered to look great on everyone’s behind means women stop wasting time trying endless models on, so they can move on to what they really want to use their time and energy for.

Wrangler’s intentions seem to be good, but the ad totally misses the mark. Better luck next time, guys.

Keeping Up With Kim Kardashian West's Makeup Routine

$

All eyes (and cameras) are always on Kim Kardashian West. People love gawking at her beauty and reacting to how she looks when she's in the spotlight. Often times, people try to mimic her beauty routine, but thanks to a recent video release, she's taken out all of the guesswork. That's right, she has exposed her entire makeup routine on a video.

I first read about this release on this article by SkinCare.net. While I was quite shocked she went as far as releasing brand names, I respect the brand loyalty Kim has to the brands that help her look so great and keep her earning millions of dollars every year by simply being pretty. With her fame and fortune, she can certainly afford any treatment or product line in the world, including cosmetic surgery, so it was cool finding out she uses some every day, consumer oriented lines of products in her beauty routine.

There wasn't a magical reveal that she had some miracle working stylist and some product that world didn't know about (that she was invested in - we see that all the time in these types of releases). Sure, there are some pricey products in the routine, starting off with the La Mer Moisturizer, which comes in at a whopping $240. The routine costs over $700, so it's definitely not for everyone.

The video starts off with Kim doing pre-make-up work. This is the most important part of the routine, which is probably why it's the most expensive. To start, she wipes her face with face wipes. The brand she uses is Neutrogena Calming Face Wipes and these are widely available at your local drug store for under $10.

Next, she applies the aforementioned La Mer Perfecting Treatment. Used as a moisturizer, this helps protect her skin.

Once applied, she puts on a primer by the name of Guerlain Meteorites Base Perfecting Pearl Primer. This is $74 and Kim "swears by it."

Next up in the routine, she applies a pre-foundation. Using a thing layer of Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer, coming in at about $62 and sold at department stores, this is used because it helps her skin glow. After that, the Benefit Cosmietcs High Beam goes on. This is a liquid highlighter that has taken on a very good reception in reviews I've read online.

After that, she's ready for the main foundation. She uses another Giorgio Armani product cammed "Crema Nuda Tinted Cream" and this is available online as well as in the department stores. At around $200, this isn't cheap. Kim adds to make sure to apply this to the back of the neck.

She then adds a dry concealer called Kryolan Dermacolor Palette. And then MORE concealers. Becca Shimmering skin protector, Make Up Forevers Full Cover Concealer, where does this concealing ever end?

Once everything is blended in, she applies pink powder below her eyes. Her eye makeup brand of choice is Lorac Starry Eyed Baked Eye Shadow Trio Superstar. Thankfully, after all that concealer, this one is only around $10.

Countour work is next. This is starting to sound like a workout routine to me.

She then fills her eyebrows with Anastasia Brow Wiz, which again is on the cheaper side at $21.

Next up is Mascara, and there are a number of products mentioned in her video. Kevyn Aucion's "The Volume Mascara" is one of them.

Lastly, she paplies lip glow. She used a product called Candy by Kylie Cosmetics. Also used was Chelsea Girls by Nars Cosmetics which run around $29 and $26, respectively.

And if you could keep up with all of that, you now have the entire Kim Kardashian West make-up routine.

Sofia Vergara's #1 Beauty Secret Could Save Your Life

$

It turns out, Sofía Vergara’s biggest anti-aging beauty tip can be found at a drugstore near you.

In a recent interview with Latina magazine, published Monday, the 44 year-old actress was asked about her “#1 beauty secret to looking so youthful and flawless.” Vergara’s answer was simple:

SPF of at least 50 every day. I like to be informed as well on new trends in health and wellness.

It’s not the first time the Colombian-born star has revealed bits about her anti-aging regimen, in 2014 she told Redbook she’s used Crème de la Mer for years, but this new tip is one that doubles as a practice that could save lives among other people of color.

Why? In July, a study by the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology found that while whites are more likely to be diagnosed with cutaneous melanoma, it remains far more fatal among people of color. African American patients had the lowest survival rate, likely linked to the fact they were also most likely to be diagnosed in later stages.

“Our results suggest that more emphasis is needed for melanoma screening and awareness in non-white populations to improve survival outcomes,” the study’s conclusion reads.

And one doctor-recommended way to prevent skin cancer is to use sun protection.

“The scientific facts are inescapable—regular use of sun protection reduces skin cancer and cancer precursors,” Dr. David Leffell, a skin cancer researcher at Yale School of Medicine, told Reuters in August. “The benefits of sun protection and the incontrovertible evidence of sunburn and chronic sun exposure as a cause of about 60 percent of melanomas should inspire people to continue reasonable sun protection if they fit into the moderate to high risk groups, and even if they don’t.”

Smart move, Sofía.

Not much has changed since 1979. Well, at least not when it comes to the creative and stylish social circles of New York City, according to Paul Caranicas.

"I feel like this is the same as that party back then. I don't know how much people have changed since then but they act the same," said Caranicas during the event, Antonio Lopez: A Photo Cocktail Party. "We are in a very free crowd so I think free people are always free and uptight people are always uptight. But I don't hang around them so I don't know."

During New York Fashion Week (NYFW), Caranicas, who runs the estate of fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez and his creative collaborator Juan Ramos, helped organize the homage to the 1979 party. When it was originally held at NYC's Robert Freidus Gallery the festive celebration included partygoers such as model Pat Cleveland and fashion designer Betsey Johnson posing before a large-format Polaroid camera with the images instantaneously placed on the gallery's walls. This time around the setting changed to the Prince St. Project Space but as Caranicas reflected, the party still felt the same.

Caranicas also was involved in the El Museo del Barrio exhibition currently on display, "ANTONIO LOPEZ: Future Funk Fashion." Lopez and Ramos helped increase representations of gender-based, race and sexual diversity within the world of high-fashion during the 1970s and 1980s. Introducing their legacy to a new generation through the exhibition and the fleeting party experience is exactly what Caranicas had in mind.

"It reflects their whole zeitgeist. Everything that surrounded them was about art and fashion," he said. "I think it is important to carry on their legacy, rediscover them and bring it to the present."

Zang Toi brings Paris to the Runway and Style to Greeting Cards

Fashion designer, Zang Toi arrived on vacation to Paris with his 87-year-old mother and left with a collection's worth of inspiration. The latter was apparent in his spring 2017 presentation with silks, cashmeres, wools, hand-beading and a pleasant twist to several looks featuring kimono sleeves.

"I took my mother for the first time in June to Paris. It was the trip of a lifetime for her," an exuberant Toi shared. "And while there I was dreaming of a beautiful Parisian girl putting on her favorite trench coat with a chic headscarf. She was taking a late morning or early afternoon stroll in St. Germain and taking break at a café while dreaming of her lover. That inspired the looks in the opening. And the second part of the collection was inspired by Monet's Gardens at Giverny with a color palette of lilac, violet and black."

The inspiration carried over into his collaboration with social expressions company, Papyrus. Toi's collection of 24 cards and two boxed notes reference signature pieces from his fashion designs with sparkling jewels, beading, whimsical feathers, plush fabrics, and detailed stitching.

"Papyrus is amazing and it love at first sight," he said. "We had a fun journey to create such beautiful greeting cards. It took many sleepless nights to come up with this beautiful collection. I look forward to many more sleepless nights to make the next one more beautiful than this year, so we can sell out."

Macy's Fashion's Front Row Brings the Party

Selling out of a collection is every retailer's dream and Macy's is no exception. To that point, during NYFW they were committed to giving consumers an experience they would value. Macy's Fashion's Front Row presented collections by Calvin Klein, I.N.C. International Concepts, Rachel Roy, Tommy Hilfiger, and more. Entertaining the crowd was Ariana Grande and Flo Rida.

But the real party got started inside of Macy's Herald Square location with a surprise performance by hip-hop legends, Salt-N-Pepa. Check out photo highlights below.

I am in the love business as a Professional Matchmaker. I have seen a lot, both good and bad. And what I dislike the most is when someone cheats and then rationalizes their actions. In my opinion, if you are guilty of homewrecking, you deserve what is coming to you. Take Angelina Jolie, for example. She was Brad Pitt's paramour while they were co-stars in Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Brad was married to Jennifer Aniston. Now, they are husband and wife and there are rumors that Brad is doing the same thing again- this time cheating on Angelina with his newest paramour, Marion Cotillard.

With that backdrop in mind, here are 10 reasons why it was inevitable that Brad Pitt would cheat on Angelina Jolie with someone at some point in time:

1. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

2. What comes around goes around.

3. Karma is a bitch.

4. Birds of a feather, flock together.

6. Cheaters never prospect.

7. If you can't beat em, join em.

8. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

9. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

9 You reap what you sow.

10. You can't teach an old dog new tricks.
