Sneak Peek Photos Of The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Are Breathtaking

0

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s showtime.

The highly anticipated Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show doesn’t air until Monday, Dec. 5. Thanks to the magic of the internet though, the masses were blessed with a peek of the star-studded runway as it happened live in Paris on Wednesday.

Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid made their second appearance at the event, while Bella Hadid made a sparkling debut. Jasmine Tookes rocked the $3 million fantasy bra while Maria Borges, who made waves last year for wearing her gorgeous hair naturally, walked in an elaborate outfit she called “a love letter to my beloved continent, Africa.”

The wings were big, the sets were elaborate and the models, of course, looked stunning. Check out some of the most breathtakingly beautiful photos from the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show so far.

The Heartbreaking Reason This Mom Won't Dye Her Gray Hairs

After an online commenter said she looked like an “old hag” due to her gray hairs, a 31-year-old mom and blogger responded with a powerfully emotional video.

Rachel Farnsworth, who blogs at The Stay At Home Chef, explained her reasons for not dyeing her hair in a video called “Why My Gray Hairs Make Me Happy.” After noting that her husband wants her to keep her natural hair so that they can “grow old together,” Farnsworth shares some sobering information about herself.

“I have a rare autoimmune disease that means that I will most likely never live to be 70 years old. Every sign of aging that I have is a sign that I’m still alive. A lot of people don’t get the privilege to ever get to live to be old. And I probably won’t either.”

Instead of wasting time on criticism of herself and others, Farnsworth says she wants to focus on living her life. She encourages others to prioritize positivity as well.

“The world needs more people who will build each other up instead of tearing each other down,” she said. “The world needs more men like my husband who are willing to encourage women to embrace who they are.”

Rihanna And Prince Harry Hung Out All Night Like Two Iconic Pals

Drop everything: A prince and a queen met in Barbados Wednesday.

Prince Harry and Rihanna basically spent an entire evening together celebrating the island nation’s 50 years of independence, and souls across the internet exploded into a puddle of heart eye emoji.

Harry is currently on the last leg of a two-week tour of the Caribbean, and will spend three days in Barbados. It is, as any committed fan can tell you, Rihanna’s home turf

The pair initially met Wednesday afternoon, which, according to the BBC, was a surprise to Harry. He thought they would meet at a celebratory concert that evening. Perhaps that’s one of the reasons our favorite prince looked so starstruck?

They later sat on stage together at Barbados’ Golden Anniversary Spectacular Mega Concert, just like a couple of regular old pals who perform and speak in front of thousands of people do.

Two of our most beloved super humans in one magical place? It’s beautiful, like diamonds in the sky.

This Barbie Wheelchair Accessory Is Normalizing Disability

When it comes to toys, representation can mean the world to a child. That’s why Nickolay Lamm developed a new doll accessory that is already brightening kids’ playtime experiences.

Lamm, who is known for his inclusive Lammily dolls (aka “Normal Barbie”), created a new wheelchair accessory for fashion dolls. The wheelchair has adjustable leg rests and fits Lammily dolls, as well as others like Barbie, Monster High and Disney Princess dolls.

“I feel that the more representative toys are of the real world around us, the better chance we stand at creating a healthier, more down-to-earth perception for youth,” Lamm told The Huffington Post.

“If a child with physical disabilities could see a fashion doll rolling around in her own wheelchair ― if kids classified as mobility-disabled by the world could be exposed early on to this sort of positive imagery associated with ableism ― then maybe we could shake some of the stigma that surrounds disability and being in a wheelchair,” he added.

Lamm says his new wheelchair accessory is a big development in the world of fashion dolls.

Though Barbie released a doll in a wheelchair named “Share A Smile Becky” in 1997, the product was eventually discontinued due to design issues.

Lamm believes his version of the accessory is much-needed today.

“If a wheelchair accessory were as commonplace as a dress in the doll aisle, it would be a huge step in helping physically disabled kids feel more empowered in a stigmatized society that often overlooks disability,” he said. “Moreover, it could educate non-disabled children about their peers, and promote open discourse and learning.”

Though Lamm has created a prototype for his doll wheelchair, he’s raising money on Kickstarter to mass-produce the accessory and make it available to kids around the world.

Lamm’s team shared the prototype wheelchair toy with students at Ayita Dance Studio in Texas, which offers dance lessons to children in wheelchairs.

“The kids responded really positively to the chair. They got really excited and definitely loved it a lot!” Lamm said.

“When I saw them playing with the chair, I experienced one of those wonderfully gratifying moments that remind me of why I started Lammily in the first place,” he added.

Lamm told HuffPost he hopes kids eventually see the wheelchair the same way they see any other doll accessory like a purse or car.

“I’ve learned that most people with disabilities simply want to be treated like everyone else,” he explained. “I think some people may assume that a wheelchair accessory already exists in the fashion doll market, when they actually were discontinued.”

He added, “Needless to say, I’m really excited to make it a reality.”

Bradley Cooper And Irina Shayk Reportedly Expecting A Baby

A mini Cooper is on the way.

Model Irina Shayk is expecting a child with actor Bradley Cooper, E! and other outlets report.

Shayk, 30, modeled Wednesday in Paris at the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, to air on TV next week. Some observers noted a baby bump as she strutted the catwalk in lingerie. In one outfit, she had a tassled robe draped over her stomach.

And fashion watchers noted the seemingly strategic placement of a trench coat belt.

Neither Cooper nor Shayk’s camp had confirmed the news as of Thursday morning. The Huffington Post did reach out to both for comment.

It would be the first child for the pair, E! noted.

Cooper, the 41-year-old  star of “Silver Linings Playbook” and “American Sniper,” and Shayk have been dating since 2015.

Amy Schumer Held Her Own Victoria's Secret Fashion Show In Pajamas

While Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid and the rest of the world’s genetic lottery winners stomped down the runway at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Paris on Wednesday, Amy Schumer couldn’t help but draw comparisons to her own super glamorous night in with sister Kim Caramele.

Never one to skip an opportunity to self-deprecate, Schumer shared a photo of herself dressed in red-and-white-striped Old Navy onesie pajamas ― a brilliant example of celebrity product promotion, if nothing else ― serving the camera her best laugh/head tilt/hand-on-the-hip pose.

“Nervous for the big fashion show with the Hadids and Kylie!,” she captioned the sibling snap with the hashtags #sohungry #loveparis #schumersisters #oldnavythreads #modelalert.

Schumer continued to share the self-love on social media later that the night by posting her own pantsless model shot for “woman crush Wednesday,” including the hashtags #yaheard #nothighgap #justawagegap

Erin Foster Just Made The Perfect Joke About Leonardo DiCaprio's Relationships

It’s no secret Leonardo DiCaprio loves models, especially of the blond variety.

In one Instagram photo, comedian Erin Foster poked fun at the actor’s dating patterns, perfectly capturing the essence of his past and current relationships.

Foster shared an old photo of a huge group of models boarding a plane for the the 2014 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in London. In the snap, almost all the girls have their hands raised in the air, which is the key to Foster’s joke.

“Raise your hand if you’ve told Leo you’re on the pill,” she wrote. Interestingly enough, Foster also happens to be stepsister to Bella and Gigi Hadid, both of whom are walking in this year’s VS Fashion Show.

Considering DiCaprio’s been romantically linked to 10 Victoria’s Secret models, including Gisele Bündchen and his current girlfriend, Nina Agdal, we’d say Foster nailed it.

There’s no denying the man’s got a type!

Tom Ford Won't Dress Melania Trump, Either

Tom Ford is such a trendsetter, he was refusing to dress Melania Trump way before such decisions even made news

The celebrated fashion designer appeared on “The View” Wednesday to talk about his film “Nocturnal Animals,” but as with most conversations these days, the topic quickly turned to politics.

When Joy Behar suggested the “beautiful and ...thin” incoming first lady would look great in his clothes, Ford, in his perfectly Ford-like manner, replied, “I don’t know, I was asked to dress her quite a few years ago, and I declined.”

“She’s not necessarily my image,” he explained.

Here’s where things get a little more complicated, though. Ford noted as an aside that he voted for Hillary Clinton and is “very sad and disappointed that she’s not in office.” But he explained that, primarily, he thinks the first lady should wear clothes that the American people can relate to, saying that “even had Hillary won, she shouldn’t be wearing my clothes. They’re too expensive.”

Lest you think Behar was letting him get away with that scot-free, she reminded him that Michelle Obama, while typically more relatable with her clothing choices, also wore expensive items, too ― including a dress designed by Tom Ford.

Ford said he thought the occasion warranted an exception.

”She was going to Buckingham Palace for dinner with the queen and I thought that was appropriate,” he said. “I live in London so that makes sense. And it was an honor to dress her.”

Natch.

Emily Ratajkowski Hits Back After Book Of Nude Photos Published 'Without Her Permission'

Emily Ratajkowski is not happy with Jonathan Leder.

The model/actress sent out a flurry of tweets on Wednesday to criticize the recent publication of a series of photographs taken of her in May 2012. The pictures were taken by photographer Jonathan Leder.

Leder’s book, Leder/Ratajkowski, released this week, includes photos that Ratajkowski claims were strictly to be used in an artful magazine shoot. There are 71 “racy” pictures in the collection, several of which are nude.

Ratajkowski says the book is “a violation” and that Leder never got the OK to publish these images from her. She added on Twitter that women should be able to choose when and how they want to “share their sexuality and bodies.”

Leder has not responded to Ratajkowski's accusations.

Wearing an incredibly revealing and complicated-looking sheer, gorgeous gown, Hadid showed off a nude thong on the red carpet. She posed for photos alongside sister Gigi Hadid and mom Yolanda Foster.

Illinois Will Teach Hairdressers To Recognize Victims Of Domestic Violence

0
0

Starting in 2017, hairdressers in Illinois will learn how to recognize signs of domestic violence in their clients, as well as where to refer them for support services.

That’s thanks to new legislation, signed by Gov. Bruce Rauner (R) this past August. The law, which appears to be the first legislation of its kind in the nation, will require all licensed beauty professionals to undergo training on domestic violence and sexual assault.

The law amends the Barber, Cosmetology, Esthetics, Hair Braiding, and Nail Technology Act, and mandates that anyone seeking licensure as a barber, cosmetologist, esthetician, hair braider, or nail technician take a one-hour class on domestic violence and sexual assault. Licensed beauty professionals will be required to take the hourlong training every two years to renew their license.

The idea for the legislation came out of a steering committee at Chicago Says No More, a regional group seeking to raise awareness about domestic violence.

Kristie Paskvan, founder of Chicago Says No More, told The Huffington Post that salon workers often develop close relationships with their clients, putting them in a unique position to offer help.

“When someone is essentially grooming you, you build a relationship with them,” she said. “It’s a special relationship. People open up.”

Experts at Chicago Says No More partnered with Cosmetologists Chicago to develop the draft curriculum, she said.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, 1 in 4 women have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner. In 2014, more than 65,000 intimate violence incidents were reported to Illinois law enforcement.

While beauty professionals will learn how to identify signs of domestic violence and how to connect clients to service providers, they won’t be expected to offer counseling and are not legally required to report abuse when it’s disclosed. The law specifies that they can’t be held civilly or criminally liable “for acting in good faith or failing to act on information obtained during the course of employment.”

The goal is not to turn hairdressers into therapists, explained Vickie Smith, executive director of the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence, but to equip them with resources they can share with their clients.

We don’t want to put people in a place where they feel like they have to respond or help beyond knowing where to refer,” she said.

Smith told HuffPost that she was in favor of the law because, at its core, it gives survivors yet another way to get critical information about help that is available to them.

“The more the public recognizes what domestic violence and sexual assault looks like, the more we are all likely to be able to say, ‘This is not your fault, there is help you can get, you don’t have to live like this,” she said. “It’s a form of prevention.”

Paskvan agreed with Smith, and said she was hopeful the law will have a positive impact on domestic violence survivors across the state.

“The training is not so that someone intervenes, or tells their client what to do ―  it’s so they can learn to listen,” she said. “This can save lives.”

Something Was Off About Lady Gaga’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Performance

Listen, we love “Joanne” as much as the next card-carrying Lady Gaga fan, but maybe the folksy dive-bar rock album isn’t the best soundtrack to the high-energy Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, you know?

Dressed in an intricate sheer gown with red rose overlays, Gaga opened her performance at the event in Paris Wednesday night with the hit song “Million Reasons.” She’s one the the few singers who can deliver a live performance that rivals a recording, but her rendition on the runway left something to be desired vocally.

Everyone, including Gaga, has an off night now and then, but what we won’t be forgetting anytime soon were her awkward interactions with the models. As the angels strutted their stuff, Gaga walked along beside them, joining hands with some and walking to the end of the runway with others.

A few models seemed to welcome the company on the catwalk, but the rest looked uncomfortable sharing the stage, seemingly not knowing how much or how little to interact with the star.

A video of the full performance surfaced online earlier today, but was quickly removed from YouTube. You can watch clips below, but you’re going to have to trust us on this one.

Gaga apparently also performed “A-YO” and “John Wayne” at the show, but we’d gladly take this backstage sing-along with the models over the real thing any day.

Jennifer Lawrence Wore A Sweater And Sheer Skirt On The Red Carpet

Jennifer Lawrence’s is known for her delightful transparency. Apparently, this now applies to her wardrobe choices, too.

The “Passengers” star took to the red ― er, gray ― carpet on Tuesday, in a cozy Dior sweater and coordinating tulle skirt that revealed a LOT of leg and a little pair of what appear to be booty shorts:

J-Law’s legs were in full view as she joked around with co-star Chris Pratt. Tiny gold accents on the skirt’s blue tulle kept things classy, as did her cashmere sweater emblazoned with “L’Etoile,” French for “star.”

If anyone can rock a sweater and a sheer skirt on the red carpet, they’re a star in our books. Well done.

This Glow-In-The-Dark Hair Is Electric Day And Night

When you want life to feel like a party ALL the time, glow-in-the-dark hair is the natural choice for unnatural color.

By day, this ‘do from stylist Guy Tang is a hot neon pink color that lights up the street. And under a black light, it becomes a mane of fire:

Glow-in-the-dark hair has been trending for a while now, but this latest version ― dubbed “Phoenix Neon Glowing Hair” in a recent YouTube video from the California-based Tang ― is one of the most dazzling we’ve seen.

A photo posted by Guy Tang® (@guy_tang) on

To get the effect, Tang first bleached the hair and then applied neon semi-permanent dye, as described in his video.

Neon hair dyes ― even the super-simple DIY kind ― really only show up properly on very light and/or bleached hair, so it’s smartest to go to a salon for the glow-in-the-dark look. If you want to give it a go at home, BuzzFeed recommends trying a semi-permanent rinse or temporary glow-in-the dark gel

You glow, girl.

Lady Gaga Wore A $1 Million Hat At The Victoria's Secret Show

Looking for a winter hat? This probably isn’t it.

Lady Gaga, hat girl extraordinaire, performed at the the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show wearing a couple of beautiful outfits and a hat worth ONE MILLION DOLLARS.

Yes, that’s right. This one-of-a-kind hat embellished with over 45,000 Swarovski crystals is worth the same amount as these homes or 25,000 of these hats from Zara

The “Million Reasons” singer not only wore said hat but lifted it up off her head like it was some kind of play toy, and held it off to the side in an act of sheer bravery.

The hat was made custom by Gladys Tamez, who has worked quite a bit with Gaga recently on all the hats surrounding the launch of her album “Joanne,” including the iconic pink look from the album’s cover.

According to a release from the brand, the hat is “an homage to the million dollar fantasy bra” and “took 300 hours of labor by 10 craftspeople.”

We’d say a round of Applause is in order for them, no?

Hillary Clinton Has Been Wearing This Fleece For 21 Years

A few lucky people hiking in the woods of upstate New York have recently bumped into Hillary Clinton and posted photos to social media. And according to the ever-lurking eyes of Twitter, the fleece Clinton wears to hike in those woods has been in her wardrobe rotation for the past 21 years.

Of the many photos people have posted over the past few weeks, one shows Clinton in a fleece your normcore dreams are made of.

Since that post, the internet has slowly but surely identified it as the same fleece she wore on a trip to Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming with Bill in 1995.

Of course, as is always the case with developments of this nature, 140 characters of snark and wit soon ensued.

Some have identified the jacket as a product previously sold by Patagonia, but the brand didn’t respond to a request for comment at the time that this story was published. Here’s a semi-similar looking one to add to your holiday wish lists in the meantime, hiking selfie not included.
