Paris Jackson Picked A Perfect Dress For The GLAAD Awards

Paris Jackson has really begun to spread her fashionable wings lately. Now she has the dress to match.

The newly signed IMG model attended the GLAAD Media Awards in Beverly Hills Saturday wearing Yanina Couture’s  “Bird of Happiness” gown.

The 19-year-old looked absolutely stunning in the show-stopping gown, which fittingly bears all the colors of the rainbow. It was the perfect salute to the LGBTQ community, and perhaps coincidentally an homage to the creator of the rainbow flag, Gilbert Baker, who died over the weekend at age 65.

It’s been a busy few days for Jackson, who presented the award for Outstanding Comedy Series. She also attended the Daily Front Row’s Fashion Los Angeles Awards on Sunday and turned 19 on Monday.

With so much to celebrate, it’s no wonder she opted to wear such a fun gown.

In honor of his 18th birthday over the weekend, Brooklyn Beckham got his first tattoo ― and the new ink is inspired by his father, David Beckham. Brooklyn’s tattoo artist is David’s good friend Mark Mahoney of Shamrock Social Club in Hollywood, who’s inked the former soccer star before.

The finished product? A black-ink portrait of a Native American chief, just like the one David has on his torso.

And we are done x

Although the significance of the image is not known, it sure is a cool father-son bonding experience.

We’re curious to see if this first tattoo session will spark more ink for Brooklyn. After all, his father has plenty of tats if he’s looking for more inspiration...

The Best 5-Minute Beauty Routines, According To The Experts

$
0
0

Your time is precious, isn’t it? All of us want to look and feel good, but really, how many minutes do you want to spend plucking, primping, powdering, shaving, curling and straightening before you get out the door? We have jobs to get to, friends and family to meet up with and lives to live.

So we asked several experts in the beauty industry which parts of a beauty routine they’d prioritize if they only had five minutes.

Their answers prove that beauty routines can be optimized so we feel like our most beautiful selves, without being a slave to the look.

Check out what they had to say.

Bobbi Brown, makeup legend and founder of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics

Prioritize: Moisturizer, face oil if you’re dry, concealer under eyes, stain lipstick and mascara

Brown’s Advice: “I would put a stain lipstick on my lip and on my cheek ― you get two things at once and you get the right amount. I also would choose, if I had five minutes, to maybe take a minute of it and do some exercise or stretching. It gives the best color to your skin.”

Dr. Marie Jhin, dermatologist and author of Asian Beauty Secrets

Prioritize: Exfoliation, moisturizer and use a mask ― but do it all in the shower.

Jhin’s Advice: “I think if you only had five minutes, I would definitely try to do a lot more beauty stuff in the shower. What that means is exfoliate [face] in the shower, use a moisturizing wash in the shower, put a mask on in the shower ― shower at night and the skin is all prepped. It’s a lot faster. Women spend way too much time on hair removal. Do things like laser hair removal so [you] don’t have to shave.”

Nunzio Saviano, hairstylist and owner of Nunzio Saviano Salon

Prioritize: Embrace your natural hair texture so you can let it dry naturally. Then use dry shampoo and make quick touch ups with tools or good product.

Saviano’s Advice: “I would ask [your hairstylist] for a haircut that doesn’t require a lot of work. Get the right cut and embrace your natural texture, because usually natural hair texture doesn’t require much maintenance. Keep your hair healthy so it doesn’t look frizzy or unkempt. If you have split ends, you need more time making those ends look good. So, healthy hair, the right cut and embrace your natural texture so you can let it dry naturally. Then there’s not much you have to do.”

Ildi Pekar, facialist and founder of Ildi Pekar Salon

Prioritize: A gentle, creamy cleanser, eye cream and moisturizer. Spend a couple minutes massaging.

Pekar’s Advice: “I think there is nothing better than for you to have clean skin; the five minutes should be all about your skin. I always tell my clients – for two-three minutes, give yourself a little tiny massage. A massage is a natural stimulator. If you work out, it is a stimulation for the body. The skin needs the same kind of stimulation. If you put moisturizer on and pat, pat, pat your skin, you will actually see how much better you feel. Put a little eye cream on and massage it in. Give yourself a minute, eye-patting, eye-tapping massage.

“I always say do your neck and chest, too. People don’t realize how important the neck and chest is. The hand is important, too. You can see how people age in their hand.”

A post shared by Gina (@ginashkeda) on

One of her fans took to Twitter to gush about how gorgeous the social media star is, wishing she could be as seemingly flawless every morning.

Shkeda saw the fan’s tweet and decided to reply with some awesomely candid honesty: She did not wake up like that.

In a world where cosmetic procedures may be less and less noticeable, Shkeda thinks it’s necessary to be honest about realistic expectations.

“I think women compare themselves too easily on the internet and forget about all the small ways one can alter their appearance in today’s world,” she wrote in an email to The Huffington Post on Monday.

“I think it’s important for the every-day woman to remember how the lifestyle of celebrities, bloggers, models, etc. is built around appearance and presentation, otherwise it can take a toll on self-esteem,” she added. “No one is better or worse than anyone else and I believe young girls should be more aware of what they’re seeing before comparing themselves to others.”

Yes to all that, Gina.

People Are Totally Buggin' Over This Time Capsule From 1998

Oh snap!

Randi Bergman, a 31-year-old from Toronto, recently got a fly gift, courtesy of her 13-year-old self.

In January, Bergman’s mother asked her to clean out her childhood closet. Bergman obliged and while she was tossing things away, she stumbled upon a time capsule from 1998 that she had made when she was 13 years old. Bergman told The Huffington Post that the discovery surprised her because she doesn’t remember making it.

“I was dying of laughter,” she said. “I also couldn’t believe I had the presence of mind to detail so meticulously.”

And meticulous it is. The three-box time capsule which contained mixed tapes, movie and concert stubs, and clippings from YM and Teen People, also included detailed lists of Bergman’s crushes, favorite TV shows and more.

On Jan. 9 the self-described former “teeny-bopper” began to share her hella sweet treasures on Instagram.

So what’s in the boxes?

Here’s the 411:

Movie theater stubs for “Titanic.”

Those plastic lace crafts you’d do at summer camp.

A “match the star with his or her favorite Spice Girl” game from a magazine.

A detailed list of all of her ’90s crushes.

A picture of Bergman in a bucket hat.

A totally 90s mix tape on an actual cassette tape.

Some Spice Girls lollipops.

Bergman’s personal “Top 5” lists of the time.

An extra bag of rubber bands for braces.

Notebooks filled with magazine clippings from the late ‘90s.

A boy band ring.

Some broken shades that are painfully ’90s.

A picture of Bergman showing off her ‘90s style — complete with a Winnie the Pooh backpack.

And Backstreet Boys concert ticket stubs with one epic backstory.

Children of the ‘90s everywhere thank you for this time traveling gift, Randi.

Melania Trump Releases First Official White House Portrait

The first official portrait of the first lady of the United States, Melania Trump, has been released.

Trump was photographed in the White House wearing a black blazer, a sequined neckerchief and two rings.

It is not currently known who snapped the image of the 46-year-old FLOTUS, though the official White House photographer is Shealah Craighead. Craighead preceded her time with the Trump administration as the official photographer for first lady Laura Bush, and she also served as campaign photographer for Sarah Palin in 2008.

FLOTUS’ official photograph comes well after the January release of President Donald Trump’s official photograph.

The image of Melania Trump was released with a description of the former professional model that indicated she’s worked with photography greats such as Patrick Demarchelier, Helmut Newton, Arthur Elgort, Ellen Von Unwerth, Peter Arnell, Antoine Verglas and Mario Testino.

“She has graced the covers of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, British GQ, Ocean Drive, Avenue, In Style, and New York Magazine. Her major layouts include the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Allure, Vogue, Self, Glamour, Vanity Fair, and Elle,” the description says.

FLOTUS and the Trumps’ 10-year-old son, Barron, reside in New York at present and plan to move to the White House when Barron finishes the school year.

“I am honored to serve in the role of first lady, and look forward to working on behalf of the American people over the coming years,” said Melania Trump in a statement for the photograph.

And, just for nostalgia’s sake, let’s take a look at our last few first lady portraits:

Michelle Obama, 2013:

Laura Bush, 2005:

 Hillary Clinton, 1997:

We’ve reached out to the White House for more information about the photograph and will update this post accordingly.

Michelle Obama Is Rocking Her Natural Hair And The Internet Can't Even

The gates of heaven opened and Michelle Obama popped up on timelines in rare form on Sunday night.

Twitter user @meagnacarta shared a photo of Obama rocking her natural hair in a low puff and gray polka dot headband, presumably wearing the purest grade of shea butter.

It’s not confirmed exactly where the former first lady is or when the photo was taken ― though Barack Obama is currently writing his memoir in the French Polynesian islands ― but that didn’t stop Twitter from having a damn fit. Many social media users noted that they’ve been waiting for this natural hair moment for the longest. Others reveled in the glow of Obama’s melanin.

Sentiments were reminiscent of when Obama was spotted on vacation with her husband rocking the cutest braids shortly after the 2017 inauguration.

In a 2015 interview with The Root, Obama’s hair stylist Johnny Wright said Obama has been natural for several years. He said if Obama did abandon a fresh press for her ‘fro, it would possibly be during vacation.

Obama has kept a busy and relatively low-profile life since leaving the White House in January. She’s made a couple of surprise visits to students at Washington, D.C. schools, signed a major book deal with Penguin Randomhouse and is just living life enjoying museums, restaurants and SoulCycle.

Live your best life, Michelle.

You Can Now Be Older Than 27 To Audition For ‘America’s Next Top Model’

Tyra Banks has given fans of all ages a reason to smize.

On Saturday, the supermodel-turned-mogul announced via Twitter that after 23 cycles of “America’s Next Top Model,” she is getting rid of age limits for the upcoming iteration.

“There have been 23 cycles of America’s Next Top Model, and every single cycle we say you have to be 27 years old or younger,” Banks said in a video message. “You know what I hear all the time? ‘Tyra, come on! Why have an age limit?’ So, you know what? I’m taking that age limit off. You want to audition for ‘America’s Next Top Model’? I don’t care how old you are, honey.”

Fans reacted positively on Twitter:

Banks does, however, still has a few requirements for potential contestants: “You just need to know how to smize and be open to learning how to work the runway like a supermodel.”

So, when it comes to ageism in the modeling industry, we now firmly know where Banks stands.

Zayn Malik's New Tattoo Is Confusing Everyone

Zayn Malik recently shared a photo of some new ink to Instagram on Sunday. The tattoo has the letters “SGT” with “2 4 17” underneath, and fans are unsure what to make of it.

A post shared by Zayn Malik (@zayn) on

The most popular fan theory suggests that “SGT” stands for Malik’s new song and collaboration with PARTYNEXTDOOR, “Still Got Time.” This seems fairly logical. However, the numbers “2 4 17” are where everyone seems to get confused. First of all, European fans are translating the numbers into the date April 2, 2017, while American fans are arguing that the date is actually Feb. 4, 2017. (The fact that Malik shared the image on April 2, and not Feb. 4, might be a clue, but who knows.)

Further adding to the confusion is the fact that neither date seems particularly significant. “Still Got Time” was released March 23, 2017. Perhaps Malik had something special planned for April 2, like filming a music video, which hopefully will clear this confusion up. After all, he did tweet that the video is coming “soon.”

But until then, there’s no telling what the numbers refer to. Either way, we still love the new ink.

The Best Meditation Apps For iPhone, iPad And Android

Meditation is a powerful tool.

Singer-songwriter Jewel is a prime example of the practice’s life-changing benefits. In a recent interview with ABC News anchor Dan Harris, she said that learning to meditate helped her manage chronic anxiety and debilitating panic attacks, which stemmed from a tumultuous childhood.

“I learned to do this meditation where I imagined I was on a very stormy ocean,” she told Harris on his “10% Happier” mindfulness podcast. “I’d imagine myself sinking through the ocean, allowing myself to relax, I would get calmer. I would notice the color of the ocean change. I’d notice the taste of salt on my lips. I’d notice the rays of sunlight coming in and the further I got down to the sandy floor, it got calm, it got tranquil by then, and I would look up at the stormy surface and it was in the distance.”

The singer is certainly onto something: The benefits of meditation are robust. Research shows it can reduce stress, increase focus and help with the management of pain and sleeping problems.

If you’re looking to add the practice to your life, we’ve rounded up a handful of meditation apps so you can reap the rewards, too. The programs will teach you how to meditate under any condition, give you the tools to handle things that make you anxious (the stress of the political climate, anyone?) and add an overall sense of calm to your day.

This 3-Year-Old With Cerebral Palsy Is Spreading Awareness In Style

$

Instagram is our go-to destination for outfit inspiration. And our new favorite account, starring an adorable, 3-year-old fashionista with cerebral palsy, has us feeling beyond inspired.

Christina Smallwood and her daughter Finley of “Fifi & Mo” document their enviable mommy-and-me style alongside stories about Finley’s milestones.

Finley has spastic diplegia cerebral palsy, which causes “especially high and constant ‘tightness’ and ‘stiffness’ in the muscles of the lower extremities of the human body,” Smallwood says on her website. Finley uses a walker, and recently underwent a costly surgery to reduce spasticity and help her walk.

Smallwood told The Huffington Post she originally started her blog, fifiandmo.com, because she felt isolated as a new special needs mom. Her mission has since blossomed into an opportunity to spread awareness, connect with families that have similar stories and raise funds to alleviate the costs associated with Finley’s therapies and surgeries. Smallwood predicts on her website that Finley will need “dozens” of surgeries before she turns 15.

Finley and her mom are often photographed in adorable T-shirt outfits, and it’s no coincidence: partnering with small shops that make shirts is one way they’ve built their audience to nearly 60,000 Instagram followers. The brands share images of Smallwood and Finley wearing their shirts, often prompting other mothers reach out to Smallwood to share their stories.

“They would DM me and say ‘My kid has a walker, too,’” she said. “So it became a great passion for me to get our pictures shared, and it worked amazingly.”

These two are spreading awareness, boosting small businesses, and doing it all in style. But while Smallwood told The Huffington Post they love wearing mommy-and-me T-shirts, Finley’s favorite outfit is “either pajamas, or anything with a tutu!”

Same, Finley. Same.

April is full of spring-cleaning vibes, but it’s also the time of year that people tend to take on home improvements and DIY projects. Runners, rejoice. Perfectly timed to take your workout routine back outdoors, stores are offering savings on new pairs of running shoes. CAR TUNE-UPS

Road trip season is upon us, which is why the car industry has dubbed April National Car Care Month. This means auto repair shops typically offer savings on minor fix-ups like oil changes or new tires. You may even find free vehicle inspections. Score.

OFF-SEASON TRAVEL

On the edge of winter and right before the rush of summer, April is considered an off-season month for travel. It also usually offers pretty decent weather. 8 Hair Myths That You Should Just Forget Already

$
0
0

Many of us will go to great lengths to keep our hair on point. But could some of your every-day habits ― like washing and styling ― actually be hurting you? Here, we separate follicular fact from fiction.

Related: What Haircut Should You Actually Have?

MYTH: AIR-DRYING IS BETTER THAN BLOW-DRYING

Truth: One study revealed that while blow-drying hair causes more damage to the hair’s surface, air-drying hair can cause damage within the strands themselves. When your hair is exposed to water for extended periods of time (let’s say, the hour it takes for your hair to dry on its own), it swells up and puts pressure on the proteins that keep your hair intact. Your best bet? Air-dry until hair is about 75 percent of the way there. Then, put your dryer on a low heat setting and dry the rest of your hair to finish.

MYTH: DANDRUFF SIGNIFIES A DRY SCALP

Truth: Actually, it’s the opposite. Dandruff is most commonly caused by a type of yeast that thrives in… an oily environment. So if you’re worried that washing your hair every day will be too drying and cause more flakes, go pick up a medicated shampoo and wash it. Like now.

MYTH: TRIMMING YOUR HAIR EVERY 6 WEEKS MAKES IT GROW FASTER

Truth: Hair growth happens at the scalp. That said, the frequency of trims has nothing to do with how fast (or slow) your hair will sprout. The reason why you’ve heard this tip so much is because regular trims prevent split ends and breakage ― the nemeses of anyone who is trying to go long. Ask your stylist for a light dusting every eight to 12 weeks to keep the overall look healthy.

Related: The Best Haircut for Your Face Shape

MYTH: STRESS CAUSES GRAYING

Truth: Graying is mostly determined by genetics and aging. As you age, you produce less melanin (the molecules responsible for your natural color). This causes new hair to come in gray (with minimal melanin) or white (with no melanin). As for stress ― what you’re actually experiencing is a quickening of fallout. Then, yes, if you’re of a certain age, it will then grow back in gray.

Related: 7 Wrinkle Myths to Stop Believing

MYTH: WEARING YOUR HAIR UP TOO MUCH CAN MAKE YOUR HAIR FALL OUT

Truth: A loose ponytail or chignon is fine. But, yes, a constant stream of tightly woven braids, ponytails and top knots can be damaging because it creates tension on your hair follicles and can lead to permanent loss. (This applies to prolonged wear of extensions as well.) You can wear your hair up ― just maybe go easy on the rubber bands.

MYTH: RINSING YOUR HAIR WITH COLD WATER WILL “CLOSE THE CUTICLE”

Truth: Stylists often finish washing your hair with ice-cold water because it's supposed to close your hair cuticle so it lies flat (and thus, reflects light). However, your hair contains no living cells. Therefore, it doesn’t react to cold (or hot) water. If smoother, shinier strands are what you’re after, invest in a good conditioner instead.

MYTH: THE MORE YOU BRUSH, THE HEALTHIER YOUR HAIR

Truth: Sure, brushing can distribute your natural oils, but more is not always best. In fact, too much brushing can create friction, which causes frizz in the short term and can lead to breakage over time. Brush only as needed and gently, starting at the bottom and working your way up to the root… slowly.

Related: PSA: Good Hair Days Depend on Which Brush You Use

MYTH: YOU NEED TO SWITCH SHAMPOOS BECAUSE THEY STOP WORKING

Truth: Different shampoos deliver different results. One might have proteins in it to give you extra volume; another may have jojoba oil to hydrate parched strands. Switching shampoo comes down to personal preference ― and your hair’s current state. For example, is it newly bleached? If so, you might want to swap your standby for a more moisturizing formula. Otherwise, they work the same as they always have.

Kendall Jenner Is Definitely Trolling Us In These Absurd Shorts

$

Celebrities often get a pass for the questionable things they wear. Naturally, this includes the Kardashians, who wear some pretty wild stuff.

But not this time, Kendall Jenner. Not. This. Time.

We simply cannot be silent about these baffling cut-off denim shorts with the ankle hem still attached that Jenner wore out in Los Angeles last week.

It looks like the middle of her legs are wearing an invisibility cloak. Like she merged denim shorts with two dog leashes. Or like she got two Skip Its caught on each leg and they somehow became attached to her otherwise perfectly acceptable, minuscule shorts.

Besides the fact that these shorts ― ankle suspenders? ― don’t make any sense, they also just look annoying to wear. Anyone else itchy just thinking about the strings tickling their legs as they walk? Eek.

We know the Kardashian/Jenner contingent has a habit of trying to pass off as pants things that only slightly resemble pants, but this look takes the cut-off cake.

Pamela Anderson’s pinup icon status made her the perfect fit for U.K. lingerie brand Coco De Mer’s latest ad campaign.

The model stars in the brand’s latest “Icons” collection.

“Coco de Mer’s designers have created such a tempting range which just embraces the elegance and playfulness that you expect from Coco de Mer,” Anderson said in a press release shared by the company. “The Icons collection exudes that special seductiveness in such a luxurious fashion, you can’t help but feel empowered and beautiful. It was great to work again with Rankin who brings his own very distinctive style to the imagery for the Icons range.”

The black-and-white photos show Anderson in a range of black bras and underwear from the line. The images were shot by British photographer Rankin, who praised the 49-year-old for her professional legacy.

“Pamela is a modern day icon,” he said. “One of the twentieth century’s true pinup girls. And yet she is so much more than that. She’s a businesswoman, an entrepreneur and, more than anything, a force of nature. It’s been a privilege working with her and Coco de Mer.”

This is the second appearance Anderson has made for Coco De Mer. In February, she starred in a Valentine’s Day spot for the brand. As for the Icons collection, a spokewoman for the brand told HuffPost, “The collection comprises of timeless styles that we have designed and sold for years ... our best-selling styles create ‘The Icons.’”

On Monday, Anderson stepped out in a ruffled floral dress to celebrate the launch of the new collection at Albert’s in London.

Looks like we’ve been seeing a lot more of Anderson lately!

Justin Trudeau Nailed This Ryan Gosling-Approved Style Move

By Liza Corsillo for GQ.

Canada's Prime Minister and one of Canada's most famous Ryans are both fans of this next-level neckwear move.

It’s rare that a politician and a movie star share tastes in fashion but Justin Trudeau isn’t just any politician, especially when it comes to dressing for a big event. Last night, while delivering a Leonard Cohen tribute speech (could he get any cooler?) onstage at the Juno awards in Ottawa, the PM wore a tie so cool, it’s straight out of the Ryan Gosling Playbook™. Both men are devilishly handsome, both make getting dressed look like a friggin’ cake walk, and both know that wearing an embroidered tie is the freshest way to make your neckwear pop. Whether it’s floral like Gosling’s baby blue tie or graphic like Trudeau’s skinny black tie, the stitched detail gives modern neckwear a vintage appeal. And there’s something relaxed and confident in the diminutive size of the adornment — quite the opposite of a loud allover print or stripe. Neither of these two Canadian style gods feels the need to show off in the wardrobe department, and that’s precisely what makes them look so consistently cool.

As for the rest of Justin Trudeau’s fit, his black and white Reservoir Dogs suit was reminiscent of another stylish leading man in Hollywood. And the stark lack of color made a perfect backdrop for his embroidered tie. If you’re thinking of copying the style this spring, keep your suit and dress shirt colors minimal so your tie has plenty of room to shine. Want to pick up your own embroidered tie right this minute? Here are three we enthusiastically recommend:

Real People Had Real Sex In These NSFW Fashion Ads

Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta of design label Eckhaus Latta recently ignited controversy with images from their new spring 2017 campaign.

The designers got real people (not professional models) to actually have sex for the ads, where pixelated sections leave little to the imagination:

In an interview W magazine, Eckhaus and Latta spoke about the campaign that ultimately ended up crashing their website. Shot by photographer Heji Shin, the ads are supposed to have a non-pornographic approach

“We were thinking of how we were using sexuality, the relationship between fashion advertising and sexuality—and in very direct terms saying sex sells,” Shin told W.

Latta added, “We weren’t covering people in oil—that’s actually their sweat, you know? We’ve really wanted to play with the principles around advertising, but it had to be authentic and it had to be real people. If it was simulated, it would have really lost the whole intention behind the shoot.”

The hardest part about shooting the campaign was getting people to participate, but with the help of friends and a specific casting director, it all came together within about six months.

“[The participants] were all excited about it, and wanted to do it—and to do it in the context of the Eckhaus Latta ad campaigns. It was actually pretty real,” Shin told W. “Of course, sometimes you have to stage small things, like putting hair on another side. But, other things are very hard to stage—with guys, for example, you have to be quick.”

Despite the supposed commentary on “sex sells” and the intended non-pornagraphic nature of the photos, it’s still extremely difficult to see the Eckhaus Latta clothes that the models are wearing. Perhaps the website crashed because people were trying to see what the spring ‘17 clothes actually looked like?
