Ted Cruz Somehow Already Ruined Rompers For Men

0
0

By Jake Woolf for GQ.

Few people look at Ted Cruz and think, Boy, now that’s a guy with a sense of humor. He has the comedic timing of a bag of rocks and yet, somehow manages to have the confidence of the actual Rock. He also happens to be one of the many members of Congress who has seen the ugliness that is President Donald J. Trump and decided more or less, “Meh, at least he doesn’t want to raise taxes on the rich.” But in addition to doing his job (which at this point more or less consists of playing nice with the man who called his wife ugly and convincing old and poor people that universal health care is the anti-Christ), Cruz is also on Twitter firing off super sick roasts of other senators.

In this case, Ted “Sentient Claymation Character” Cruz hopped on the timeline to partake in a caption contest of a photo of Nebraska Senator Ben Basse and Chuck Schumer. He implied that Senator Schumer recently purchased two “RompHims,” the new Kickstarter’d romper for men that went viral this week

Sheesh, what an absolute riot that one is. See, it's funny because Ted Cruz is saying Schumer bought not one, but two rompers for men. And of course a snowflake like Democrat Chuck Schumer would wear something that only girls wear. Get it now? Get it? Look, we're not even saying that RompHims are stylish, but honestly we're just a little shocked that Cruz was able to destroy all of the Twitter fun the RompHim had provided over the past 48 hours this fast. This is why we can't have nice things. Anyway, here's a song by a rapper named Lil' Daddy called "Please Don't Touch My Romper," a parody of the A$AP Rocky song "Please Don't Touch My Raf" which debuted earlier this week.

Beauty Legend Bobbi Brown On Why You Should Probably Throw Away Your Sunblock And Skip The Botox

For W magazine, by Mia Adorante.

Unconditional love #nationalpuppyday #puppup #biggie

A post shared by Bobbi Brown (@justbobbibrown) on

After 21 years helming her eponymous label, Bobbi Brown is kicking off her next chapter her ninth book, Beauty From The Inside Out, which covers such varied topics as makeup, wellness and aging, and a new lifestyle brand. “What I’ve realized if confidence means one thing, it just means you’re comfortable in your skin and it doesn’t happen until you are older.” she says. “It does not happen in your 20s. It doesn’t happen in your 30s. I think it really starts happening in your 40s, 50s, and for some women it’s beyond that.” Here, she shares a few lessons on moderation, taking a stepping back from the mirror, and the magic of pinching your cheeks.

You were a pioneer of natural makeup in the ‘80s, which was all about bold colors and heavy contouring. What was that like? Well, I didn’t realize that I was going against the grain, I was just doing what made sense to me. I didn’t think models and actresses looked pretty when I would see their faces with foundation that didn’t match their skin and brown things on the side of their face, so I started doing makeup to make people look healthy. I remember my first [photoshoot], of a beautiful model that looked tan and bronze and I showed it to a very well-known makeup artist at the time and he said, “Oh, you’ll never work. They’re never going to hire you with this kind of makeup. You have to do what we all do,” and I just never did and somehow people realized wow, they do look better.

Related: Bobbi Brown’s Top 10 Beauty Tips for Natural Makeup

How did you start your eponymous makeup line? I started really with one lipstick. I met a chemist and I asked him to make this one lipstick for me, because I couldn’t find a lipstick on the market that looked like lips and everything was so artificial. I asked him to mix and blend a few things, and he made it for me. And then I realized it was my lip color, and not everyone has the same lip color. So that’s when I started looking around and making all different lip colors. Honestly, there’s so many different color lips in the world. People don’t realize it, and that’s what makes a difference in the lipstick you choose, not the color of your skin. The color of your lips, because I could have a lipstick that looks like nude on me and someone else could put it on, it looks pasty on them, their lips are dark and if their lips are pale, they’ll look bright orange or bright pink. It’s really interesting.

What was your first book? My first book was called Bobbi Brown Beauty. And the only reason I wrote a book is because I was on the beach and I met this really nice lady and her kid and I said, “What do you do,” and she said, “I’m a book agent.” I said, “Oh, I’ve always wanted to write a book.” And that’s how I got my first book.

And how has one kind of led to the next? I can’t believe I have nine books now! The second one, I guess, was [about] teenage beauty. I had a role in a lot of girls’ upbringing because the beauty book was not just how to look like someone else, it’s how to be the best version of yourself and how to deal with mean people, and how to cover a pimple. Being the mother of three boys, I’m so happy that I have been a part in girls’ lives, too.

What are the most common mistakes people make with makeup, in your opinion? Foundation should be the exact color of your skin meaning, hello? It’s kind of like what I’ve done is not brilliant, it’s just common sense. Blush should be the color of your cheeks when you pinch it. It’s common sense, to me. Your eyebrows, what color should your eyebrows be? Whatever the hair is.

How to find the right foundation shade: “On a makeup-free face, pick three shades close to your skin tone and apply them in two strips on your cheek. Check the colors in natural light; the color that blends in with your skin is the right one.” See the full interview on Wmagazine.com.

Prince William Was The Cutest Little Wedding Attendant As A Kid

0
0

This weekend, three-year-old Prince George will serve as a page boy in his aunt Pippa Middleton’s wedding.

And boy, did his dad set an example to follow.

As a child, Prince William was a young attendant in the weddings of his uncle Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson and family friends Camilla Dunne and Rupert Soames. Prince Harry also got in on the action, which included sailor suits, pink suspenders and one very ruffly lapel:

There’s no word yet on what Prince George will wear when he follows in his dad’s footsteps this weekend, nor what two-year-old Princess Charlotte will wear in her role as a little bridesmaid.

Let the royal cuteness commence.

We've Been Pairing Our Rosé With The Entirely Wrong Foods

0

Rosé is perfect for picnics in the summer, but it’s entirely possible you’ve been drinking it all wrong.

If you struggle to find the right foods to pair with your rosé, Moët & Chandon winemaker Marie-Christine Osselin recently gave HuffPost a helpful tip: think of rosé like you would red wine. Don’t treat it like a white wine, as most of us do.

“Like red wine, rosé pairs beautifully with foods like fish, meat, risotto and fruit salad, making it a great drink to enjoy with a meal,” Osselin said.

“Typically red wine dominates meat dishes, but rosé has the structure and body to complement the flavors of meat allowing you to enjoy both your dish and the drink, without one overpowering the other,” Osselin said. The winemaker suggested pairing rosé with beef, veal, lamb, pork or duck.

If you’re feeling playful, Osselin suggested trying rosé with burgers, lobster rolls, truffle fries, tacos or even Thai and Indian food. If you want play it safer, stick a sweeter rosé with desserts, red berries or blue cheese.

Next time you’re picking out something to pair with a curry or duck dish, we say be bold and go rosé all the way.

Trans Community Tweets Their Chucks To Honor Chelsea Manning’s Freedom

Chelsea Manning shared a touching photo on Instagram on Wednesday, the same day she was released from prison.

The simple photo features a shot of black Converse Chuck All-Stars and boasts the caption: “First steps of freedom!!”

First steps of freedom!! . . #chelseaisfree

A post shared by Chelsea E. Manning (@xychelsea87) on

The photo, which received over 14,000 likes, was her first post on her brand new Instagram account.

To commemorate the whistle blower’s newfound freedom, the trans community and other supporters have been tweeting photos of their Chuck All-Stars alongside the hashtag #ChucksforChelsea.

In 2013, Manning, a former Army intelligence analyst, was sentenced to 35 years in prison for providing WikiLeaks with secret military and diplomatic documents. The controversial move made some view Manning as a traitor, while others saw her as a hero.

The same year she was imprisoned, Manning came out as transgender, telling the world she identified as a woman named Chelsea, “request[ing] that ... you refer to me by my new name and use the feminine pronoun.”

Manning, who was also sentenced to a men’s military prison, experienced brutal conditions as a transgender woman.

She was initially denied access to hormone therapy drugs, was not allowed to grow out her hair despite doctors’ recommendations and was sentenced to solitary confinement.

While in prison, Manning attempted suicide twice

In January, former President Barack Obama commuted her sentence before leaving office.

She now finally has the chance to live out her life as her chosen gender.

People Think They’ve Found Topless Pics Of Hunky South Korean Presidential Bodyguard

0

The news recently has been hectic, but Choi Young-jae, a bodyguard for South Korean President Moon Jae-in, has been a very welcomed distraction. Choi shot to internet fame last week after photos of him protecting the president went viral. His good looks apparently stole the show.

Now, people are giddy again after one person found photos of a shirtless model resembling Choi.

As if Choi’s smoldering stare wasn’t swoon-worthy enough, the man in the new photos (if it is indeed Choi) looks even more charming with a smile and a six pack.

Choi hasn’t confirmed the authenticity of the modeling pictures, but the internet is convinced it’s him.

AllKpop, a South Korean culture blog, dug up more information and published more pictures of Choi in other career roles ― and, yes, they include the photos of him as a shirtless and chiseled model. BuzzFeed also launched an investigation into Choi’s alleged abs.

Choi, a happily married father of two, revealed in an interview with The Korea Times that he was protecting the president as a volunteer when the photos showing him next to the president were taken.

Choi told the The Korea Times he had been an officer in the South Korean military for 10 years, serving in the Special Warfare Command, and was a counter-terror attacks instructor. He said he has an honorary 11th-degree black belt in martial arts.

Choi, a fervent supporter of the new president, was apprehensive about his newfound fame.

“I feel good. But also I’m concerned about the spotlight and the attention focused on me,” he told The Korea Times. “Attention should be paid to the president, not me. I don’t want to steal the limelight.”

Choi might not like all the new press, but the internet, with its thirst for handsome Asian men, wants to keep his fame alive.

Pippa Middleton Wears A Classically Stunning Gown For Her Wedding

IT’S HERE!

Speculation about Pippa Middleton’s wedding day look has been swirling since the famous former bridesmaid announced her engagement last July, and she did not disappoint on the big day.

Pippa wore a high-neck, cap-sleeved lace designed by Giles Deacon with an elaborate train, a tiara and a bespoke veil as she married James Matthews at St. Mark’s Church in Englefield, England on Saturday.

The lace detailing slightly reminded us of the show-stopping Alexander McQueen gown her sister, the former Kate Middleton, wore to marry Prince William in April 2011.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte also looked predictably adorable for the occasion. Charlotte wore a white short-sleeved dress with a giant bow in the back with a head piece. George wore a white collared shirt with short trousers. Too. Cute.

Congratulations to the happy couple.

Prince George And Princess Charlotte Steal The Show At Pippa Middleton's Wedding

In a twist that should shock no one, all eyes were on Prince George and Princess Charlotte at their aunt Pippa Middleton’s wedding Saturday.

Prince William’s sister-in-law looked absolutely stunning in a a high neck, lace Giles Deacon gown with a long train and bespoke veil, but his tiny children gave her a run for her money doing their duties as page boy and bridesmaid.

Charlotte looked adorable in a white short-sleeved dress with a big pink bow and floral head piece. George, who is getting bigger every day, looked oh-so-dapper in a white collared shirt and short trousers.

The former Kate Middleton, who looked beautiful in a long-sleeved, pale pink dress with a matching fascinator, reportedly expressed some concern on Tuesday over how her little ones would behave during the nuptials. From the looks of it, though, all they did was manage to look even cuter than usual.

Perhaps they’ll be reprising these roles for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding next? We can only dream.

Trump Slammed Michelle Obama For Not Covering Hair In Saudi Arabia, But...

0

Donald Trump’s old tweets keep coming back to haunt him. This time, they followed him to Saudi Arabia, during his first trip overseas as President of the United States.

In 2015, half a year before he officiaannounced he was running for president, Trump criticized then-First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama for not wearing a headscarf over her hair during a trip to Saudi Arabia.

But when Trump and his family visited the Islamic nation this weekend, people noticed that his wife Melania Trump and daughter Ivanka Trump did the exact same thing.

Melania Trump wore loose-fitting conservative outfits to the Islamic nation, much like Obama did during her 2015 trip to Saudi Arabia. Trump was seen wearing a black Stella McCartney jumpsuit covered most of her arms and legs, and was accentuated with a gold belt and chain-link necklace. Ivanka Trump wore a long-sleeved floral dress that reached above the ankles.

Once photos of the Trumps in Saudi surfaced online, people were quick to dig up the president’s old tweet and point out his hypocrisy.

Saudia Arabia has a strict dress code that requires Saudi women to wear long black robes, known as abayas, and to cover their hair in public. However, foreign diplomats or politicians aren’t required to cover their hair during visits to the country.

Middle East politics expert Christopher Davidson told NBC News that it’s “perfectly tasteful and appropriate” for prominent women, including the Trumps and Mrs. Obama, to forego headscarves during their visits to the kingdom.

“We’ve now had a number of prominent Western women who have visited Saudi in recent months, Angela Merkel and Theresa May,” Davidson said. “Neither of them covered their hair and they both wore trouser suits.”

Journalist Joyce Karam also pointed out that several other First Ladies and female American politicians have visited the country sans headscarf in the past, including Hillary Clinton, Barbara Bush and Laura Bush.

(Laura Bush briefly wore a head scarf, which was gifted to her, during a trip to Saudi Arabia, though she did not wear it for the entire visit, according to The Guardian.)

'Backpack Kid' Upstaged Katy Perry On 'SNL' And Mesmerized The Internet

It takes a lot to upstage Katy Perry, but Backpack Kid managed to do it.

Perry, who channeled Beetlejuice in a black and white striped coat, performed “Swish Swish” ― which is thought to be a Taylor Swift diss track ― on the season finale of “Saturday Night Live” this weekend.

The pop star was flanked by drag queens on both sides of a runway, before she moved aside to let them do their thing. Then a star was born:

Backpack Kid, as the people of Twitter dubbed him, stepped onto the runway and mesmerized the world with his backpack and the way he moved. (For the record, Backpack Kid’s real name is Russell Horning, he’s 15, and he’s on Instagram.)

People were delighted. They were in awe. They were confused. They had questions. They knew he had stolen the show.

Will we see more of Backpack Kid? Time will tell.

Cher Makes Us 'Believe' At The Billboard Music Awards

The spirit of the late ‘90s was alive and well at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night.

Shortly after Celine Dion sang her 1997 hit “My Heart Will Go On,” Cher killed it onstage with her 1998 No. 1 song “Believe.” She then turned back time to 1989, performing “If I Could Turn Back Time,” in a similar outfit to the one she wore in her legendary music video filmed aboard the USS Missouri.

Everyone was taken with Cher’s performance, even Dion:

After her two powerhouse performances, Cher was presented with the Icon Award by Gwen Stefani.

“So, I’ve wanted to do what I do since I was 4 years old, and I’ve been doing it for 53 years,” Cher said as the crowd broke out in applause. “That’s not an applause thing. I’m 71 yesterday. And I can do a 5-minute plank. OK? Just saying.”

She continued, “I want to thank my mom. When I was really young my mom said, ‘You’re not going to be the smartest, you’re not going to be the prettiest. You’re not going to be the most talented. But you’re going to be special. And then when I met Sonny [Bono], he said the same thing. And there was really nothing about me that lead anyone [else] to believe that I was going to be special.”

Cher wrapped up her speech by crediting a lot of her success to plain old luck.

“I work with people you might not know, but they are like the greatest people in our industry,” she told the crowd. “And I just have to say I think luck has so much to do with my success. I think it was mostly luck and a little bit of something thrown in.”

The Most Outrageous And Amazing Fashion At The 2017 Billboard Music Awards

Much like the Grammys, the Billboard Music Awards are a place for celebrities to wear pretty much whatever they want on the red carpet.

At the 2017 BBMAs on Sunday night, Halsey took that message to heart ― showing up in a bra, a skirt fashioned out of what looked like a trench coat, and heels that laced up all the way to her thighs. Singer Dencia wore what some likened to a Rubik’s Cube, while Celine Dion wowed in a white dress with built-in angel wings.

Michelle And Barack Obama Are Living Their Best Lives As Italian Tourists

Michelle Obama’s vacation style just keeps getting better and better.

The former first lady looked effortlessly casual and cool while walking around Montalcino, Italy over the weekend.

Obama chose a $397 one-shoulder pink-and-white striped top from Teija with frayed white jeans that cut off at the ankle and white sandals. She accessorized with hoop earrings, black sunglasses, bracelets and a white cross-body purse.

She’s truly living her best life:

Former president Barack Obama gave a talk on climate change earlier this month and it appears the Obamas made the work trip into a vacation. The two are reportedly staying at the incredible Borgo Finocchieto villa in the Tuscan countryside.

Barack Obama is clearly loving his time in Italy, as he’s transformed into a rock star and played a few rounds of golf:

After Obama left office in January, the couple has traveled all around the globe. They’ve made stops in Palm Springs, the British Virgin Islands, an island in the South Pacific and even enjoyed a little yachting with their famous friends.

While many people have lamented the Obamas’ absence during this turbulent time, Michelle promised the two would be back soon during a recent appearance in Washington, D.C.

“We’re not gone, we’re just breathing, y’all. Let us breathe,” Obama said, per People magazine. “We’ve got to get our new lives set up.”

Woman’s Powerful Bikini Instagram Shows The Value Of Self Confidence

0
0

In just two photos, one woman made a strong argument for why everyone should be able to feel confident at the beach in a swimsuit.

Rachel Spencer, a confidence and success coach, recently posted two photos of herself to Instagram. In one picture, she is 13 years old in a swimsuit, covering her stomach for the camera. In a present day picture, the 26-year-old is happier and more confident, identifying herself as a “self-love queen.”

“I’ve been sitting here trying to think of a good caption but this photo just makes me sad when I look at it,” she wrote in an Instagram caption. “So how about I ask you a question: Who taught the young girl on the left to hide her tummy before taking pictures in a swimsuit? Who taught her that at only 13 years old, her chubby little body was unworthy of a photographic memory?”

Spencer said the reason she hid her body was because of boys who bullied and teased her about her weight. Over the years, she also felt pressured by images and messaging in the media about things like cellulite and dieting. But thanks to a little time and some self love, she’s in a super positive place thirteen years later ― and she has a message for people who need to get to that place.

“I have a message for all the women who are much older and STILL feel ashamed to show their tummy at the pool: Don’t be,” Spencer said. “Put on that bikini and smile. Don’t feel the need to let other people’s opinions ruin precious memories with your friends and family. Show your daughters what it’s like to flaunt their flaws at the pool. No shame. Your imperfections tell a story. Your body is beautiful. You are BEAUTIFUL.”

I've been sitting here trying to think of a good caption but this photo just makes me sad when I look at it. So how about I ask you a question: Who taught the young girl on the left to hide her tummy before taking pictures in a swimsuit❓ Who taught her that at only 13 years old, her chubby little body was unworthy of a photographic memory❓ It definitely wasn't her parents or family, so who was it? Well, did you know that this innocent young girl was bullied for her weight? Not by the girls. The girls were nice. But the boys...the boys were mean. From then on out, she never wanted to go to the pool, saw boys as a threat, cried to her teachers, etc etc. Things started to get better in middle school, but then came the media. *Knock Knock* Diet culture, fitness, cellulite cream--CELLULITE?? Why was a 13 year old worried about cellulite??? Because the media told her it was bad. That SHE was bad and needed to change. If you couldn't tell by now, the young girl was me. There's a big difference between the closed off, hiding, young girl on the left and the carefree, happy, open girl on the right. ❤️And that difference is self love.❤️ I taught it to myself. I had to. I had to find a way to be happy. The process wasn't quick. I'm still working on it at 26 years old. But I have a message for all the women who are much older and STILL feel ashamed to show their tummy at the pool: Don't be. Put on that bikini and smile. Don't feel the need to let other people's opinions ruin precious memories with your friends and family. Show your daughters what it's like to flaunt their flaws at the pool. No shame. Your imperfections tell a story. Your body is beautiful. You are BEAUTIFUL.

Chelsea Handler Says Melania Would Be An 'American Hero' If She Divorced Donald Trump

0
0

Everyone is having a good laugh over Melania Trump publicly humiliating her husband, Donald Trump ― including Chelsea Handler.

Handler, who was promoting her Netflix show on “The View” Monday, was absolutely delighted by video of Melania swatting away Donald’s attempt at holding her hand when the first couple arrived at Ben Gurion International Airport in Israel.

“I have a fantasy. I just want Melania to finally come out and divorce him. She would be an American hero,” Handler told the “View” co-hosts. “We would embrace her if she just said, ‘Listen, this guy’s disgusting, and I know all of his dirty secrets and I’m willing to tell everybody.’”

Even if Melania is willing or wants to divorce Donald and spill his secrets one day, actively embracing her might be a step too far.

In 2011, Melania appeared on “The Joy Behar Show,” where she defended her husband’s false, racist conspiracy theory and repeated his birther claims almost verbatim, according to Vanity Fair.

“Do you want to see President Obama’s birth certificate or not?,” Melania asked Behar. “In one way, it would be very easy if President Obama just show it. It’s not only Donald who wants to see it. It’s American people who voted for him and who didn’t vote for him — they want to see that!”

There are plenty of people who love the idea that Melania seemingly hates her husband. During Trump’s inauguration, a meme was born when, as soon as Trump turned his back to her, Melania’s face completely fell. The Twitterverse went on to use the hashtag #FreeMelania, which was also spotted on signs at Women’s March in January.

Perhaps, in this case, it’s actually easy to mistake schadenfreude for sympathy, but author and sex columnist Dan Savage previously explained that no one should be giving the first lady a pass.

“[T]here are some folks on the left who not only don’t hate her, they view her as some sort of sympathetic figure. The pretty princess in the tower locked up by the orange ogre with the bad combover, a princess desperately blinking out distress signals during swearing-in ceremonies and inaugural balls,” he said during one of his podcasts in March.

Adding, “She’s an immigrant who doesn’t give a s**t about the plight of other immigrants. She’s famously a plagiarist. And she’s brought ruinous lawsuits against journalists and bloggers accusing them of among other things, potentially interfering with her ability to profit off her role as first lady.”

Honor Roll Student Banned From Graduation Because Of This Shirt

A senior at Hickory Ridge High School in Harrisburg, North Carolina was recently suspended for wearing a shirt that showed her collarbones.

Summer, an honor roll student with a 4.4 GPA, told NBC Charlotte that she was sitting in the cafeteria last week when the school’s principal asked her to put on a jacket because her shirt went against the school’s dress code. According to NBC Charlotte, Summer’s shirt partially showed her shoulders and exposed her back.

Although Summer reportedly told her principal she thought her shirt was “fine” to wear at school, she complied with the principal’s request and put on a jacket. Unfortunately, the principal was still not satisfied and asked Summer to change her outfit all together.

“I completely understand why a dress code is put into place but I feel like after I put on that jacket it should have been subdued,” Summer told NBC Charlotte.

Watch the full news clip of Summer’s story below.

Instead of accompanying the principal to change her clothes, Summer asked the principal to call her mother. According to NBC Charlotte, Summer has had “a number of issues” with her principal over the past four years, and because of this, Summer’s mother has asked the school to call her before taking any disciplinary action against her daughter. The principal was unable to reach Summer’s mother, so Summer went about her day.

Later, during a school assembly, the principal came in with a school security guard and asked everyone to leave except Summer.

“[The security guard] was within five feet of me, he had his hand on his gun,” Summer said. “[The principal] said ‘I’m gonna give you an ultimatum. We have tried to call your mother. You either come with me to the control room to change your shirt or we will arrest you.”

Right before the security guard could handcuff the high school senior, Summer’s mother called.

Thankfully, Summer was not arrested but Yahoo reported she was given a 10-day suspension from school and was banned from all senior activities including high school graduation. According to the letter sent home to Summer’s mom, the high school senior was suspended for “insubordination.”

Summer told NBC Charlotte that she thinks the principal is still considering expelling her.

“It’s just sad because I worked so hard for four years to walk across that stage,” she said. “We have drug dealers walking across that stage, we have sex offenders walking across that stage and then the 4.4 student who showed her shoulders can’t.”

Ring Purchased At Garage Sale May Be Worth Almost Half A Million Dollars

Shopping at garage sales can be hit or miss, but one lucky customer is cashing in on a major find.

Southeby’s will auction off a sparkly cocktail ring a woman bought at a car boot sale in 1980s England next month with a starting bid of £250,000 (roughly $325,000). She had thought for decades that it was costume jewelry and wore it without a care in the world, revealed the owner, who declined to be named publicly, the auction house said this week.

The woman had purchased the piece for £10 at a garage sale at West Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth in west London, according to Sotheby’s. She decided in recent months to have the ring appraised after a jeweler said the stone could be real.

Sotheby’s Jewelry in London confirmed the stone’s authenticity ― a 19th century 26.27-carat, cushion-shaped white diamond. The auction house added that the stone has a color grade of I and an impressive clarity grade of VVS2. The ring could go for as much as £350,000 (about $450,000).

“We confirmed that it was indeed a diamond. We got it tested with the Gemological Institute of America ... and that then dictated the price,” said Sotheby’s Jessica Wyndham, who heads the auction house’s jewelry department.

In the interview in the video above, Wyndham added that it was understandable the owner did not know the ring held a real diamond.

“It was in an antique style mount, so it was quite heavy,” she said. “It is mounted in silver around the top and when silver becomes tarnished it becomes quite black. And that mixed with the cut of the stone probably would have meant that it didn’t sparkle very much, and if it was all dirty, you just wouldn’t think that was real.”

The ring will hit auction on June 7.

Queen Elizabeth Expresses Deep Sorrow In Wake Of Ariana Grande Concert Tragedy

Queen Elizabeth II called Monday’s suspected suicide attack at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England, an “act of barbarity.”

“The whole nation has been shocked by the death and injury in Manchester last night of so many people, adults and children, who had just been enjoying a concert,” she said in a statement on Tuesday. “I know I speak for everyone in expressing my deepest sympathy to all who have been affected by this dreadful event and especially to the families and friends of those who have died or were injured.”

The blast, which killed at least 23 people including the attacker and injured 59, occurred outside Manchester Arena near the venue’s box office just moments after Grande concluded her performance. Concert attendees, many of them Grande’s young fans and their parents, were sent into panic.

British police said they are treating the blast as a terrorist incident. While the identities of all the victims have not yet been released, many of those affected are believed to be children.

Grande, who was set to perform in London next, suspended her tour indefinitely.
