DYLAN PENN - daughter of actors Sean Penn and Robin Wright - has been signed by Premier Model Management, and with genes like those it's hardly surprising. Minnie Driver Shuts Down Bikini Body Critics With Nude Tweet

Minnie Driver: 1; body critics: 0.

Just weeks after she quit Twitter because of cruel comments made about her body in a bikini, Driver delivered an epic shutdown to those very critics by tweeting a photo of her nude spread in Allure magazine.

The 44-year-old appears naked in the May 2014 issue of Allure magazine.

"I never could have done this when I was 25 -- no way," she said of mustering the gusto to strip down for the shoot. "All I saw then were the flaws. I still see the flaws, but I see what's great more -- and I've got a banging body."

On April 8, Driver slammed people who had hateful things to say about photos of her wearing a swimsuit taken by paparazzi while she was on vacation with her 5-year-old son, Henry.

"God some people are horrible," she tweeted at the time, per Us Weekly. "You try being photographed when you don't know it's happening, when you're on holiday with your kids." Adding, "I'm out of this Twittersphere for a while. It's too mean sometimes, about your body , about your soul. Not worth it."

Busy Philipps is killing this throwback photo game. Philipps posted a photo on Twitter that puts all early-'90s tweens to shame. Big, round glasses? Check! Archie comics? Check! Duvet covered in bright geometric shapes? Check!

Philipps' daughter compared her to DJ Tanner from "Full House," she wrote on Twitter. Hey, Birdie, we totally agree.

'Weightism Is Pretty Much The Last Acceptable Version Of Discrimination'

To say that it's about time that there was a documentary about the plus-size modeling industry, like "A Perfect 14," would be the understatement of the year.

The Canadian film, which is currently raising funds for post-production on Indiegogo, explores the often ignored world of plus-size models and their struggle to be accepted by the fashion industry and the mass media.

The doc profiles three prominent plus models, Elly Mayday, Laura Wells and Kerosene Deluxe, through their careers, and also interviews designers, photographers and agencies about our distorted perception of body image.

In the trailer, Daniella Sieukaran, body image researcher at Simon Fraser University, decries size-based segregation, saying "Weightism is pretty much the last acceptable version of discrimination," while another interviewee talks about the harsh realities of the fashion industry: "Bottom line is it's a business. And guess what we're buying? We're buying the Caucasian skinny girl."

"A Perfect 14" is opening up a new conversation about the media's culpability in perpetuating obsolete beauty standards, easily making this film one of the most important projects in the fashion world right now.

An Abandoned French Chateau Is Getting The Makeover Of A Lifetime (PHOTOS)

It takes a certain type of bravery to purchase a fixer-up, and Karina and Craig Waters have lots of it. The Australian couple's 2013 purchase isn't your average home improvement job -- it's a study in reconstruction, rural living and Europe's 18-century religious wars.

"Until recently we had only researched the history on Wikipedia," Karina says of their 94-room Chateau de Gudanes in Midi-Pyrenees in the South of France. "We were led to believe that the chateau was constructed in 1740," she says, but a little more digging -- literally -- revealed a set of medieval towers, painted beams and ceilings that show the property was actually a fort during the religious wars. That's a far cry from the small rural french farmhouse she and her husband originally set out to buy. "The known history goes back to the 13th century," she adds. "Further, we didn't know until after purchasing the chateau, that the architect in 1740 was Ange-Jacques Gabriel, more well known as the leading French architect at the time, responsible for the Petit Trianon, Place de la Concorde and Hotel de Crillon."

According to the blog Messy Nessy Chic, it was Karina and Craig's son who would change the course of their home search, when he spotted the abandoned house online.

Karina and Craig had already been through one round of house hunting, which turned up nothing but modern French homes with infinity pools, but a second trip and a 500-mile drive later, and they were "captivated immediately," she says. "Our [second] trip was a lot grander in expectations... but all this flew out the window when we drove into the village and saw Chateau de Gudanes."

So what does one do with an 11,000-square-foot piece of history? Well, the previous owners had plans to turn it into a 17-unit luxury apartment building, but the Waters wanted to maintain the chateau's original design. "We felt so sad seeing it for the first time, just left to decay. Yet we could still see so much of the exquisite detail and remnants of how elegant it once was," Karina says, having blogged about turning at least a portion of the house into a cafe inspired by this salon at the Petit Trianon in Versailles.

But there are many more rooms and piles of rubble to plow through before the home bears any resemblance to its 13-century self -- and Karina is determined to get it there.

"We are totally focused on reusing all the building materials where possible," she says. "I sometimes feel slightly embarrassed -- broken finger nails, dusty clothes, unruly hair. I look frightful at times. But I have to get in there and save what I can. I have found old glassware, pottery, porcelain, painted wood flooring ... I have saved old painted beams thrown onto the open fire out the front of the chateau ... I love everything, old flagstones with a crack or a chip, to me it doesn't matter. The Spanish workers take out debris, dump it on the ever growing rubble pile, and I bring it back," she says.

When she isn't poring over the pile of rubble, Karina stays in the converted servants' stables, which were once a part of the chateau and blogs about she and Craig's epic renovation.

Check out more photos of Chateau de Gudanes below, and follow along on their journey over on their blog.

This week, it was all about killer shoes in Hollywood. And who can blame the stars? We would be happy if we never saw a winter boot again.

To celebrate the warm weather, Jennifer Lawrence donned a pair of velvet smoking slippers, Sarah Hyland wore some punchy blue pumps and Rita Ora rocked a pair of badass heels.

Every Aspect Of The Gap's Instagrams Are Picture-Perfect

The Gap officially has the most perfectly curated Instagram account.

Now that Coachella is over and our feeds aren't overflowing with over-the-top bohemian outfits and flowered headbands, we're lurking the denim-on-denim and striped tees, courtesy of Gap. The jean vests and simple tops, paired with the occasional Chuck's and cross-body bag, make us even more excited for spring. Oh, and we can't forget to mention Gap Kids; possibly the most adorable, happy babies are featured wearing mix-and-match blues.

Not only are these shots picture-perfect, but also a reminder that Gap is truly a timeless clothing brand. Nothing beats a cozy Gap sweatshirt in time for May showers.

The Stars On This Week's Best & Worst Beauty List Know How To Work With What They've Got

Half the battle of choosing the right hair and makeup is knowing what works for you. It's about enhancing what you've already got rather than being a slave to all the trends. And that's exactly what the stars who served up the week's best beauty moments did.

Kate Upton let her natural beauty shine with a polished old Hollywood look, while Jennifer Hudson struck the perfect balance between edgy and elegant.

On the other hand, the celebs who landed on our worst list managed to mask their true beauty with avoidable makeup and hair mishaps. Sadly Mindy Kaling was the worst of the bunch and a few swipes of powder could have cleared things up.

Check out these eye-catching beauty looks below (plus more standout hair and makeup).

BEST: Kate Upton

kate upton

This centerfold is transitioning to the silver screen with sophistication and style. Her perfect chignon, subtle smokey eye and soft lip, make her look like a true Hollywood starlet.

BEST: Melonie Diaz

melonie diaz

We want whatever Melonie is putting in her hair to make it shine so bright. And the juxtaposition of her matte red lips is perfection.

BEST: Sofia Vergara

sofia vergara

Although we've seen the "Modern Family" actress rock a lot of different hair colors, this honey blonde hue is our all-time favorite.

BEST: Darby Stanchfield

darby stanchfield

What a killer combo: red tousled tresses, lash framed blue eyes and a bright poppy-hued pout. This "Scandal" star definitely knows how to handle a fierce beauty moment.

BEST: Jennifer Hudson

jennifer hudson

We can't get enough of J.Hud's jet black pixie cut. And although it's definitely an edgy look, the singer balances it out with light brown brows and a matte lip.

WORST: Peta Murgatroyd

peta murgatroyd

There is no way that the Australian actress and dancer should have been able to hit the red carpet looking like this. She's suffering from a mean case of helmet hair and heavy-handed lipstick.

WORST: Katie Holmes

katie holmes

It looks like Katie needs some serious beauty sleep or she should just avoid lining her eyes with unflattering colors. Teaming that purple shadow with a bordeaux colored frock isn't a good look.

WORST: Sophia Bush

sophia bush

Everything about Sophia's look is pretty much flawless, if you can divert your attention from her stenciled eyeliner. While we applaud her doing something a little different, this look is better suited for a fab magazine spread.

WORST: Mindy Kaling

mindy kaling

Someone, anyone, get this woman some powder!

WORST: Toni Collette

toni collette

There is nothing really exciting about this look. We blame Toni's orange tinged hair and overwhelming eye makeup.

Former reality star and eternal Queen of Instagram Lauren Conrad has adopted a puppy. It appears to be adorable and perfect, because it has been run through multiple filters, and also because it is a puppy.

Just to be clear, this puppy's life will include artisanal lemonade ...

... hand-painted floral dinnerware ...

... hand-painted balloons ...

... hand-painted useless glass things ...

... assorted Pinterest-inspired pastries ...

... literally all of the nail polish ...

... and midi rings.

The "newest member of the Conrad clan," will join Conrad's other pets -- Chloe, Fitz and this random baby bird -- who also have prettier lives than you.

Sarah Jessica Parker Drinks Tequila For The First Time At Age 49 (REPORT)

According to Page Six, Sarah Jessica Parker tried tequila for the very first time on Saturday, April 26.

Apparently, she was out in the Meatpacking District for some sort of fancily exclusive book club, and a source overheard overheard SJP say that she had never “tried tequila and wanted to try it for the first time."

How someone could have existed for nearly five decades and not, say, had a margarita once or twice seems implausible. We'll still continue to love and actively conflate her with Carrie Bradshaw, but there are a lot of questions here. Was part of her "Sex And The City" contract that she could ONLY drink Cosmos? What could she have possibly been drinking on Cinco de Mayo? Did Matthew Broderick know about this?

Anyway, rest assured that now, after 49 years of living on the planet Earth, Sarah Jessica Parker has finally gotten around to trying tequila.

Kate Upton Covers British Vogue June Issue, Reveals Her 'Biggest Fight' In The Fashion Industry

Well, well, well, if it isn't Kate Upton on yet another Vogue cover.

The model and actress looks classically radiant as the cover girl of British Vogue's June 2014 issue. Set on a beach we wish we were sitting on right now, Upton poses pretty in a Dolce and Gabbana vintage-inspired swimsuit. This is definitely a 180 from her last Vogue UK feature, where she had a similar retro vibe.

Upton gets candid with Alexa Chung about her career and how she remains confident in her own skin. Although Upton disrupts the idea that she's had to challenge people in the fashion industry, she does explain who she's had to break through to get jobs. Upton says:

"It's weird that in the press they'll be like, your biggest fight was with the industry and the designers, and I'm like, no, my biggest fight was with my agents, trying to get them to sign me into the castings. I thought, how I'm going to come out of this will be an example for girls."

Aren't you glad Kate won that fight?

The 'It' Dress Of The Season Is...

$
0
0
There are always dresses that turn up on multiple red carpets -- after all, many stars favor the same designers. But when a dress makes four major appearances in Hollywood, it is no longer a coincidence, it's a trend.

Yesterday we spotted Lucy Liu wearing a foil pleated Proenza Schouler cut-out dress on the "Late Show with David Letterman," making it the third time we've seen an A-lister in this ensemble. Last week, Toni Collette wore the same frock but in a different color and back in October, Rooney Mara rocked the metallic number shortly after it was seen on the Spring 2014 runway.

And if three celebrities wearing one dress isn't a big enough sign that this is the "It" dress of the season, supermodel Daria Werbowy wore it on the February 2014 cover of Harper's Bazaar. Oh, and Chanel Iman donned an iteration of the design (though it was a cropped sweater and skirt) for Net-A-Porter's The Edit "Guiding Light" shoot.

We can't say we're surprised that this is the dress of the moment as it combines many major trends: metallic, midi-length hemlines and cut-outs. Also, we totally called this fad from the get-go.
