It's The 10th Anniversary Of 'Mean Girls' And It's About Time Janis Ian Got Some Respect

$

We want to give the happiest of birthdays to the legendary, and now classic, film "Mean Girls" with some love for arguably the best character of the entire quotetastic movie: Janis Ian.

Yeah, there are the Plastics, who give some really great (and not-so-great) looks throughout the film, AND the only thing going for Aaron Samuels is that his hair looks sexy pushed back. Other than the fabulous Damien, there was only one person we knew would be perfect for this week's Beauty Screen.

Believe it or not, Janis is the epitome of our dream best friend. She has wild emotions, but knows where to put them, like in her smudgy makeup and piece-y hair. She's extremely loyal, SO loyal in fact that she'll disarm an "army of skanks" for you. And last, but not least, she basically rules more than the Plastics ever could.

For our reinterpretation of Janis Ian, we got our badass HuffPost Women Senior Editor Emma Gray to model. If you remember the Spring Fling scenes, Janis is rocking what seems to be a purple tuxedo -- but we decided to go with a yellow blazer and a DIY lace bow tie, because what's a tutorial without some good, creative fun.

Hair: Janis' slicked-back hairstyle wasn't hard to master, but the product used does matter. After some thought, we decided on Pureology Control Twist Liquid Wax, which has a great consistency and texture for smoothing out the hair.

After giving Emma a distinct off-center part, we worked the liquid wax throughout Emma's hair to maximize hold, making sure to mold the shape of the updo so it was as smooth as possible. Also -- the shiny goodness was definitely a factor with the wax and Emma's naturally glowing locks.

Makeup: This had to be the best part of this entire post. First, we created a smooth and even base with Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB Cream in Light/Medium, which is a favorite of ours.

To perfect Janis' signature black-rimmed eyes, we traced the exact shape of Emma's lash lines with Maybelline Master Drama Cream Eyeliner, making sure the rims were nice and thick. To create the smudgy effect, we blended in black eyeshadow on the top lid only. Emma then applied Essence's Lash Mania Reloaded Mascara in black to get some eyelash volume going on.

We noticed that we needed to create bolder brows, so we filled in Emma's with the Anastasia Brow Wiz in Ebony.

Finally, for the lips we wanted a red that was bright, but one that also screamed "high school dance." We mixed together two CoverGirl LipPerfection Lipsticks, Hot and Seduce, using a lip brush to blend the colors rather than separate them. After applying, we added some concealing powder around Emma's lips to keep the color from bleeding.

We're Pretty Sure Brukwine Is The Sexiest Workout Ever, Wowzas (VIDEOS)

Just when we thought the Beyoncé Dance Class was the sexiest way to sweat off those extra pounds, we stand corrected. Enter Brukwine.

The Dancehall-inspirired workout is a body-moving, sweat-inducing, twerk-filled class and after watching nearly every video on the company's Instagram account (@brukwineaddiction), we can't wait to try. With that said, it's no surprise that the word Brukwine is the Jamaican term for "breaking out and letting loose."

SCROLL DOWN FOR VIDEOS

The sultry workout was created in 2012 by professional dancers Tamara Marrow and Autavia (Tavia) Bailey, who became friends while touring with and starring in videos for reggae star Sean Paul. The ladies have also busted a move with music icons like Beyoncé, Rihanna and Lady Gaga, so it's clear they are beyond qualified to get folks whipped into shape.

"Brukwine is very sexy, and very feminine. We use a lot of waist movements that really tone your legs and give you a great cardio workout," Bailey told Racked. "People come to our class and think they are just going to dance but they finish drenched in sweat. You can burn up to 1000 calories."

And it's not only the dance moves that are hot, class participants usually wear booty shorts, high heels (or wedge sneakers) and full faces of makeup to the workshops. "You want to look sexy when your watching yourself move in the mirror the whole time," Bailey explained to Racked.

Right now the classes are primarily offered in New York City, however the ladies also travel around the country spreading their hip-winding workouts. Come June the routine will add one permanent home to its schedule at Miami Crunch gyms.

Here's a look at the sexy workout. Would you sign up for a class? Tell us in the comments section below

Dear 'Southern Charm' Guys, Fashion Is More Than Boobs

"Southern Charm," Bravo's newest reality show that everyone loves to hate, is set in Charleston, S.C., and supposedly embodies everything "southern." According to the show, that means people without jobs who possess backwards attitudes but say everything with a delightful accent.

southern charm
"Southern Charm" Season 1 cast. Pictured from left to right: Whitney Sudler-Smith, Thomas Ravenel, Craig Conover, Cameran Eubanks, Jenna Lee King, William Shepherd 'Shep' Rose III.

The show is hard to watch with its "stabbin' cabins" and politician-turned-felon, but many still tune in. I love it because cast member Shep Rose and I share the same hometown (Hilton Head, which is close to Charleston), so I know what's totally fake and what's real. But just because you're a reality TV playboy, doesn't give you the license to comment on women's bodies. And that's exactly what went down in a recent interview with Elle magazine.

Elle LOVES "Southern Charm" and reminds readers whenever they can. While discussing spring trends like crop tops, quilted rompers and metallic dresses with Shep and Craig Conover, the boys apparently forgot their "southern charm" and let loose, reinforcing female stereotypes and degrading women's bodies.

Here are the quotes I'm calling into serious question:

"Camel toe potential is off the charts. Leave a little to the imagination, please."

"I like it. A little seductive. It looks like satin, which is endlessly fun to touch. Good luck if your boobs aren't spectacular, though."

"Not sure if it's the model, but I like this. It's fun to tear off some clothes at the end of the night. She looks kind of classy."

"This is cute. I'd imagine this look would draw a lot of attention in a room -- that 'that girl's a badass and I hate her cause I secretly want to be her' attention, which I love."

EXCUSE ME, Shep? "Camel toe is off the charts?" "Good luck if your boobs aren't spectacular?" "Tear some clothes off at the end of the night?" And Craig, who made the last observation, inadvertently reinforces the negative stereotype that all women are just jealous of other women. These comments are disgusting and I'm disappointed that Elle would print them and perpetuate this nonsense that "boobs are everything" and that you have to be "classy" for some sleaze like Shep or coward like Craig.

Just stick to showing off your socks, Shep!

Is It The End For SkyMall Catalog?

If you're still shopping the SkyMall catalog, then this news is going to hit you pretty hard: The in-flight publication may be going out of business.

According to recent reports by Jezebel and the LA Times, the airline magazine with a readership and reach of 600 million travelers a year just might be on its way out.

skymall

As New York retail consultant Bob Phibbs told the LA Times, "SkyMall feels to me like its in a time warp. It looks the same as it always has."

If SkyMall doesn't find a way to appeal to its massive audience, then it's going to be a swift landing for the unrequited leader in airline sales (aside from airline attendants and their "buy some headphones and snacks" schtick). Last year alone, SkyMall lost $3.2 million so they have major moves to make up, because apparently you can't keep a company afloat by just selling Garden Yetis.

skymall

While we've never had enough money to purchase most of the products in the quirky catalog, SkyMall is still way too much fun to look at and debate how much you really need that $8,000 massage chair or Harry Potter-esque Magic Wand Remote Control because you always need it.

Just for laughs, here are some of the most ridiculous items you can find in SkyMall:

James Franco Says He Never Had Sex With Lindsay Lohan

James Franco really wants the world to know he did not have sex with Lindsay Lohan, despite the appearance of his name on her leaked sex list.

During a very candid interview with Howard Stern on Wednesday, April 30, Franco explicitly denied having sex with the troubled 27-year-old actress, calling her "delusional" if she thinks they slept together.

"I never had sex with Lindsay Lohan," he told Stern. "It's a lie: I will swear on my mother’s life that I never had sex with her."

The 36-year-old did cop to kissing her, but didn't exactly have fond memories of the experience.

"All right, we maybe kissed … it was lame," said Franco. "I can’t believe she put me on that private list. She’s so delusional!"

This isn't the first time Franco has denied alleged intimacy with Lohan. During his last interview with Stern in March 2013, the actor dispelled similar rumors, telling the radio host that the two had been friends, and that she had made several moves on him.

"I don't like to brag about it," Franco said. "I don't know how that got out. She was having issues even then, so you feel weird. Honestly, she was a friend. I've met a lot of people that are troubled and sometimes you don't want to do that."

That friendship seems to have run its course, as Franco told Stern, "Every time I've brought her into my life … it’s turned really lame."

Miranda Kerr And Orlando Bloom May Be The Most Amicable Exes Ever

We're calling it: Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom are the most amicable celebrity exes ever.

Six months after separating, Kerr, 31, and Bloom, 37, still keep it chummy, getting together for play-dates with their three-year-old son and chatting every day, the supermodel tells Harper's Bazaar U.K. in the June issue of the magazine.

"We are very good. We speak every day," Kerr says of Bloom, whom she was married to for three years before calling it quits. "We're really close, we're going to be a family forever and we both really do love each other. We have genuine love and respect for each other."

The Aussie beauty adds: "We're very connected and I feel grateful for that. We created something beautiful together and we both remind ourselves how lucky we are to have that. And yeah, it's good. He's a great dad. I'm lucky."

Kerr, who also parted ways with Victoria's Secret last year, told the magazine that she's made an effort to stay positive in the wake of the separation.

"Everyone goes through challenging periods in their life," she says "That's inevitable and it's part of being human ... I feel like it's a daily process to be positive. It's something that's a choice and I have different tools, like meditation, even prayer -- my grandmother taught me to pray when I was young -- and just finding that inner peace."

Kerr's not alone in insisting that the couple's separation has been a peaceful one. Just three days after announcing the split, Bloom sat down with Katie Couric and said that he and Miranda will always be "family."

"We're going to be in each other’s lives for the rest of our lives," he said. "Life sometimes doesn't work out as we plan, but fortunately we're both adults.”

The Ruder The Sales Associate, The More You Buy?

If you encounter a rude sales associate, are you more likely to buy something?

Well, according to new research from the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business, you just might be. The forthcoming study, "Should the Devil Sell Prada? Retail Rejection Increases Aspiring Consumers' Desire for the Brand," which will be appear in the October 2014 edition of the Journal of Consumer Research, reveals that customers who receive poor treatment from sales associates in upscale stores are more likely to make a purchase.

The researchers had participants imagine or actually interact with various sales reps and then rate their desires to own the brands being sold. Surprisingly, those who weren't treated well reported increased lust for the merchandise associated with the snobby sales associates. But the caveat is, this only works at high-end stores.

"It appears that snobbiness might actually be a qualification worth considering for luxury brands like Louis Vuitton or Gucci,” Darren Dahl, a marketing professor at the university said. “Our research indicates they can end up having a similar effect to an ‘in-group’ in high school that others aspire to join.” Regina George lives on.

And you thought the "Fault In Our Stars" trailer was rough ...

In a new video posted by MTV, Shailene Woodley can be seen crying as she gets her long and luscious locks chopped off for her role as cancer-stricken teen Hazel Grace Lancaster in the upcoming flick, based on the best-selling young adult novel by John Green.

In the clip, Woodley is clearly emotional as her hair stylist takes a scissor to her thick locks. "I have to see it! I have to see it!" she shouts as her stylist hands her chunks of hair. "Oh my God! I might cry so hard you guys."

The 22-year-old actress originally cut her hair in August of last year, tweeting a photo of her transformation shortly after.

She donated her hair to an organization called Children With Hair Loss, which makes wigs for kids who lost their hair due to cancer treatment or other diseases.

"Now, I love it," she told USA Today of her short 'do recently. "It's just free and fun and loud."

Rihanna's Nude Photo Just Got Censored By Instagram

On Tuesday, April 29, Rihanna posted her cover for French magazine Lui to Instagram. The photo, shot by Mario Sorrenti, featured the singer opting out of a hand bra, revealing her nipples.

For anyone who follows Rihanna on Instagram, the only shocking thing about the Lui cover was the fact that she is wearing a bucket hat. Instagram, however, felt the image was a violation of its nudity policies, suspending Rihanna's account until the photo was removed.

According to TMZ, Instagram further threatened to permanently shut down her account, with unnamed sources noting that they would respond in a similar manner given future violations.

Now, there's a conversation to be had here about the issue of over-sexualizing the nipple. Caitlyn Becker sat down with Huff Post Women Editor Emma Gray and Director and Producer of "Free The Nipple" Lina Esco to do just that, and both emphasized that this is clearly an artistic, non-raunchy photograph, which should not have been grounds for censorship.

Anyway, after you have your own intellectual conversation about sex positivity, please enjoy Rihanna's perfect response to the controversy:

In 1840, Queen Victoria broke royal wedding tradition when she walked down the aisle in a William Dyce ivory silk gown. Though not technically the first woman of nobility to wear a white bridal gown, she is credited with starting the iconic custom (previous members of British aristocracy wore gowns woven with gold and silver threads, layered with velvet and ermine robes). A new book by Eleanor Thompson — a former curator at the Brighton Museum in England — charts the course of bridal couture from Victoria to Karl Lagerfeld. The Wedding Dress: The 50 Designs That Changed the Course of Bridal Fashion features the most celebrated nuptial designs from the past 150 years, from the Balmain ballerina-style dress Audrey Hepburn wore to wed Mel Ferrer in 1954 to the one-shouldered, ombré pink gown John Galliano designed for Gwen Stefani in 2002.

Here's How Connie Britton Really Feels About That Michelle Obama Cameo

Things are about to get crazy!

"Nashville" is back tonight with a brand new episode and while the series might be winding down the drama is definitely heating up. Last week, the cast recorded a special live performance shot at the Ryman Auditorium, and fans can expect even more action in tonight's episode.

Connie Britton spoke to HuffPost TV about the season so far, that special Michelle Obama episode and why fans should brace themselves for the Season 2 finale.

On working with Michelle Obama
"It was an amazing episode," Britton said when asked about the first lady's lauded cameo. "My character Rayna puts on a concert at an army base. We shot at Fort Campbell which is right outside Nashville and we shot this incredible performance for the troops. It was such an amazing day."

Britton also gave us a glimpse of the role the first lady has on the show. "Michelle Obama recorded a message for the troops, so its a pretty exciting episode," Britton said. Fans should also get ready for the show to pick up the pace heading towards the season finale.

"Really everything leading up to the finale is very exciting," Britton said. "We're really just going to be moving crazily to the finish line and the season finale is going to be spectacular."

On how Season 2 might end
The last time we saw Rayna, the country crooner was going on national TV to address her "baby daddy" issues and come clean to Deacon about why she kept Maddie a secret all those years. But Britton says the next few episodes are going to focus less on family drama and more on Rayna's music career.

"This whole season for Rayna has been about her creating her new label and what we start to see as we get to the season finale is that everything, especially after everything that's happened with Scarlett, everything is riding on her album release," Britton said. "We're going to watch Rayna doing everything that she can to make a great performance. The season finale we get to see her be really victorious with that."

As to what fans can expect from the season's final episode? "There's definitely a twist in the season finale that even when I read it in the script I was very surprised," Britton said. "I think the audience is going to love it."

The actress also revealed her plans for after the show ends its sophomore season which include a new film with Tina Fey and Adam Driver and continuing to be an ambassador for the Ponds skincare brand.

Forget Wigs, Lace Front Eyebrows Are Taking Over

Another day, another eyebrow wig. Wait, what?

Lace front eyebrows exist, and it might be something you've recently seen floating around the Internet. The false strips of hair are similar to lace front wigs, which are hair pieces where extensions are sewn into lace-like material, so when the wearer applies it, it gives the illusion of a natural hairline -- that is of course, if it's a good one. And although these might seem weird, these real-looking brows have many uses. As Refinery29 reports, they are great for people going through or recovering from chemotherapy and for those who just want fuller eyebrows.

But is this really a new trend?

There are some video tutorials out there that show us different techniques and tricks on how to apply our own false brows. From picking different color styles to adjusting the thickness of a faux brow, getting a quick education on these babies is not hard to find.

And if you were wondering where you could buy these, one place we've seen pop up a couple of times is the Houston, Texas-based salon Tiffani Chanel Luxury Hair, which sells a range of hair pieces, including lashes, wigs, weaves, and of course, brows.

However, if you want to get the exact look you prefer without the cookie-cutter styles, you can even DIY your own pair. Don't believe us? Just watch the video below.

Would you ever try lace front eyebrows? Or will you stick to your makeup and brow pencils?

Limited Edition, Drake-Inspired Lint Rollers Were Given Out Last Night, Jealousy Ensues

Drake, Young Money artist and die-hard fan of his hometown's Toronto Rappers Raptors was caught on camera lint- rolling his pants while sitting courtside a few days ago. But now, what shall forever be known as "NBA Lintgate 2014" is rewarding Drake with a limited edition surprise -- his very own lint rollers.

Champagne Papi raps about starting from the bottom, but we're willing to bet he never imagined getting to "the top" would entail having his very own cleaning item. Fans sitting courtside and in the "we're wealthy" section were the lucky winners who received the voucher below, which they could redeem after the game.

Following in the footsteps of a few die-hard fans, the Raptors partnered with lint-fighter company 'Bounce' to make the 1200 lint-rollers. The Raptors ended up winning the playoff game, although we're not quite sure if the Drizzy-inspired fanfare contributed to player's efforts. Their lint-free uniforms did look especially great, though.

Although BYOLR'ing (bringing your own lint-roller) hasn't quite caught on with most NBA coaches, players or fans yet, we're sure if anyone can start their very own basketball trend, it's Drizzy. If you guys have any extras, the Huff Post Style Team is totally willing to change our favorite NBA team to the Raptors.

If you missed the video of Drake lint-rolling the first time, we've got you covered:

Glen Coco Was Never Hired Or Paid To Be In 'Mean Girls'

You might be on "Mean Girls" overload (if there is such a thing) as the 10-year anniversary of the movie's release was celebrated the world over on April 30, but gather round friends -- for this is the greatest story never told.

The actor who played one of the most beloved and championed film characters in cinematic history wasn't actually hired or paid for his role. Yes, David Reale, who gloriously portrayed none other than Glen motherf--king Coco in all his blue hoodied-glory, wasn't supposed to even be in "Mean Girls."

Reale recalls his tale to Dazed magazine, explaining that he actually auditioned for another part in the film, but wasn't cast. Then fate intervened when the production ended up filming right across the street from his Toronto apartment, and he wandered over to see if he could watch some scenes being shot and "maybe get some free food."

What happened next would change the course of movie history forever, as director Mark Waters recognized him from his audition, and believing he had actually been hired as an extra, gave him a consolation role of sorts. According to Reale, Waters said, "Hey, I'm going to put you right in the front on this next scene and you'll have a name and everything."

"So that's how it happened. But I was never 'officially' hired," Reale told Dazed. "I never signed anything and so I was never paid. But the free lunch was great."

Reale appeared in two different classroom scenes, and though he spoke no actual lines, his character is an absolute fan favorite. We're not sure what the legal implications are since he didn't sign a release, but he definitely wanted to be in the movie. We're thinking Paramount owes him at least couple more candy canes.

Kim Kardashian Wedding Dress Details Emerge

Kim Kardashian's "intimate" 200-guest wedding in Paris is just 23 days away and details about her wedding dress are finally starting to emerge.

The 33-year-old bride-to-be has picked a dress and she "beyond loves it," a source told E! News. The exact details are still top secret, but the insider reveals that the designer of Kardashian's gown is among the world's "elite." Well, duh.

Yes, this is all we know about the dress -- which will actually be dresses since Kardashian confirmed she'll have "multiple costume changes."

The reality star and Kanye West are reportedly set to marry in a civil ceremony at their home in California this week ahead of their Parisian nuptials, but Kardashian has been practicing for the big day for months. She's been favoring all white-ensembles ever since she stepped back into the spotlight after giving birth to North West.

One thing we know for sure, Kardashian won't be walking down the aisle wearing the custom-designed Vera Wang ball gown (that kind of made her look like a cupcake) nor the awful diamond drop headpiece that she wore when she said "I do" to Kris Humphries in 2011.

It's Official: No One Wants To 'Spring Clean' (INFOGRAPHIC)

If my home is any indication, spring is the season for dealing with the sunlight finally re-emerging and calling attention to the weird piles of books where a coffee table once stood. Though I've technically been writing about all things relating to improving, decorating and enhancing one's home for nearly a decade, the experience has applied to everyone else's living quarters but my own. It's not to say that we live in an unstylish heap. It's a very stylish heap. But only a hoarder would ever look at the packed shelves and think "An organized person lives here."

It's not for lack of trying, either. Every season, I try to get the household in order and attempt to develop a system that will spare us from having to live a life filled with half-hearted apologies to guests about the state of our apartment. This lasts about a week before descending back into a kingdom of miscellany ruled by a cat. This coincides with a weekend spent doing something that makes us happy; which is "everything except cleaning."

It turns out that we're not alone. In a survey put out by Molly Maid (which is not, in fact, a maid service where everyone is on Molly), 93 percent of those surveyed would rather do anything other than clean. And by "anything" they mean "anything." 10 percent of the respondents would rather eat dog food.

For more reassurance that you're not as bad as you think -- and a smug feeling that you're not one of the people who would rather eat dog food than deal with the bathroom -- check out the infographic below.

Enter Atomyzer, the iPhone case that features a spraying mechanism, so you can take your perfume with you on the go. The product, which is currently posted on IndieGoGo, has the ability to spray up to 60 times. The creators hope to raise $20,000 to make your good-smelling phone dreams a reality.

We're all about smelling good, and we understand the complications involved in carrying a bottle of perfume around with you everywhere you go, but if you're going to have something with you at all times that can dispense liquid at the touch of a button, we can think of some other, more exciting things to put in there besides perfume, like:

Water: Apparently, it's going to be one hell of a hot summer. Sixty sprays of water could be serve as a crucial cool down.

Air Freshener: This one is pretty self explanatory.

Hot Sauce: Boring desk lunch be gone!

If you are looking for a lesson in aging gracefully, look no further than Sharon Stone.

The 56-year-old actress strips down to nothing but lacy lingerie for the cover of the May issue of GQ Italia, looking as sexy as ever.

Of course, the stunning cover shot comes as no surprise, since the last time we saw the "Basic Instinct" star she was wearing a completely sheer shirt, no bra, and leather pants for dinner in West Hollywood. What's more, the actress has been making headlines in Hollywood for her frank thoughts about aging in Hollywood.

"I’m not interested in being young forever. This idea that being youthful is the only thing that’s beautiful or attractive simply isn’t true," Stone told Shape in February. "I don’t want to be an ‘ageless beauty.’ I want to be a woman who is the best I can be at my age.”
