I Tried Co-Washing My Hair For Two Weeks And Here's What Happened

A few weeks ago, the fashion site The Coveteur challenged me to give up shampoo for two whole weeks in favor of cleansing conditioners. As a person who has always been told to lather, rinse and repeat, I was hesitant to ditch shampoo for co-washing.

Before I describe what happened to my strands, let me back up and break down this co-washing business. Co-washing is the abbreviated term for conditioner washing, which is a method of cleansing your hair with conditioner instead of shampoo. Initially, I was excited, albeit nervous to give up shampoo for so long. I had no idea what to expect, so before I embarked on my road test, I decided to reach out to the famous Los Angeles hair stylist (and co-washing guru) Chaz Dean, whose line of cleansing conditioners, "Wen,” debuted way back in 1993.

Dean gave up shampoo 21 years ago and has never looked back. When I asked him why he made the change to co-washing, his reply was simple: "You are eliminating all those harsh detergents, polymers, fillers and binders—basically all the things that strip you hair and remove all the good things." He continued, "[By co-washing] you're cleansing with natural essential oils, botanicals and extracts, so it never strips your hair or your scalp." I was also interested to find out whether co-washing works on all hair types, from baby fine locks, to thick, wavy hair, to African American textures. Dean's definitive answer gave me some relief: "Yes, it absolutely does."

Hole-y Kim Kardashian. The reality star stepped out in a black jumpsuit by Welsh designer Julien Macdonald for the BRIT Awards in London on Wednesday evening. The outfit certainly turned heads, leaving little to the imagination with a series of multi-sized holes all over the top.

Kardashian seems like the perfect person to wear the sexy design. The jumpsuit is from Macdonald's Fall 2015 Ready-to-Wear collection. According to Women's Wear Daily, he was inspired by "the power of Britain’s queens — and of strong women generally."

The 34-year-old will be on hand to support husband Kanye West, who is performing at the show.

Rice Krispies Treat Designer Makes Fashion Way More Delicious

Move over, macarons. There is a new treat vying to hold the title of fashion's most beloved dessert, and it's of the Rice Krispies variety.

These are not just any ordinary Rice Krispies Treats, though. These are pieces of art made by Jessica Siskin, Food Artist and creator of Mister Krisp. Siskin, who left a job at Elizabeth and James after seven years to pursue making customizable Rice Krispies Treats full time, says the whole thing started by accident.

jessica siskin

"I don't know how to cook, but Rice Krispies Treats are super easy. I would mold them into heart shapes whenever I made them, and one day a friend suggested we make a surfboard for a birthday party. When I realized food coloring could be added to the recipe, I had an overwhelming impulse to make a Rice Krispies Treat cheeseburger. That was the krisp that started it all," she told HuffPost Style.

The treats, which range from adorable dogs to chic Chanel purses, take time, effort and some trial and error. "Through experience, I have developed a sense for the right amount of butter, marshmallows and cereal required to reach a desired texture. I then work very quickly -- you only have a few minutes to mold them before they harden," she said. Sometimes though, she added, it takes way more than a few minutes. "I did a cover of Harper's Bazaar once that took over two hours."

Her extensive background dates back to childhood (her mom is in the industry as well.) It's really no surprise, then, that one of her favorite experiences has been meeting fashionable pup Toast. "I've had so many great opportunities, it's hard to pick just one," she said, adding, "I love dogs, so meeting Toast was very cool."

Of course, the real question is if she has gotten sick of the sweet yet? "I will never get sick of Rice Krispies Treats," she said. Siskin is officially a girl after our own hearts.

Mister Krisp typically requires about two weeks for a custom treat, and prices range between $50-$200 depending on size and complexity. Head to Mister Krisp to order.

Social media has been up in an uproar this week over the racially insensitive comments Giuliana Rancic made towards actress/singer Zendaya during Monday’s episode of E!’s “Fashion Police."

The E! News co-host reviewed Zendaya's Academy Awards look, which came complete with faux waist-length locs, and described the star as smelling like "patchouli oil…or weed."

The television personality has since apologized -- twice, at that.

Meanwhile,
celebrities like Solange, have shared their support for the 18-year-old actress-singer.

That said, we’ve decided to highlight a list of notable figures who have effortlessly rocked the popular hair style proving that the beauty of natural hair has no limits.

Our Aging Face-Part 3-Medical Alternatives

$

This is the third and final installment discussing the aging patterns of our face. The first two blogs chronicled the process and factors affecting it. Recommendations were made to slow the aging process through lifestyle changes. For the sake of completeness, this last post offers advice on how to affect the aging process medically and, or surgically. These recommendations are purely elective, meaning they have no effect on your health, and are "cosmetic" alternatives. As outlined in Part 1, recommendations are listed by decade, as the goal is to offer procedures that mask the aging process subtly, without outlandish changes that screams bad, fake appearance. Surgery or medical treatments are not for everyone, as individual aging philosophies differ significantly. The following guide is extremely general, and I do not propose that one do all recommendations offered per decade!

30's
In most cases, wrinkles are just starting to become noticeable as skin changes have begun. A mild chemical peel or even a facial is an effective way to shed dry dead skin cells and help close pores and tighten skin. If lines around the eyes or forehead are noticeable when you are not animating (moving) your face, then Botulinum toxin (Botox or Dysport) offers a safe and handy way to erase those lines. I am not an advocate for use of Botox at a younger age to "prevent" wrinkles because research does not support this practice which would add up to costly treatments over time and create an unnatural frozen appearance to a young face. The practice of "maintenance" should be instituted as early as this decade to allow the appearance of slow subtle aging.

40's
Wrinkles are deepening and regions like the mid brow show vertical furrows, sometimes called "11" lines, that can cause an angry appearing grimace. Crow's feet around the eyes and horizontal lines of the forehead deepen and can become harsh. Either or all of these areas can be effectively treated with Botox. Laser resurfacing is another option for fine lines and sun-damaged skin. Prominent smile lines around the mouth (nasolabial folds), can be blunted by filler products like Hyaluronic acid (Juvederm or Restylane). Some people may demonstrate redundant skin of the upper eyelids or bags of the lower eyelids, both creating a "sleepy" appearance. Surgical Blepharoplasty is the best option for either or both of these conditions. Various individuals may be candidates for "mini-facelift"' usually addressing a saggy neck or early jowl formation. The scars for this procedure are shorter, and recovery time less than a traditional facelift. Many times the neck and jowls can be tightened and contoured with just micro-liposuction.

50's
As the aging journey continues, Botox and fillers offer a less invasive alternative to surgery. A new, denser type of Hyaluronic acid called Voluma, is very effective filling out deflated mid face and cheekbone regions. Fat transplanted from the abdomen or thighs is a potent alternative to treat hallowed regions of the face, and is natural. Cosmetic eyelid surgery is quite prevalent in this decade, and the perk is that it is usually a one-time affair and long lasting, unlike a facelift. Mini-Brow lift compliments upper eyelid surgery, lifting the lateral brow slightly. Mini-facelift is still a good option, especially when the amount of fillers increase to the point where the face takes on an unnatural bloated and absurd appearance (seen in many aging Hollywood types!). Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing is an efficacious treatment to reduce fine line wrinkling and modestly tighten the skin. The goal is to try to do smaller procedures with modest improvements, as opposed to drastic changes which can be alarming.

60's
A traditional facelift and eyelid surgery (if not done earlier) with fat grafting offers the most practical alternative. Fillers are usually not as effective, and if they are serviceable, require so much material every 3 or 4 months, that a facelift actually makes more economic sense! Fillers and laser resurfacing are useful adjuncts to previous facelifts. Brow-lift surgery is helpful when the eyebrows drop, causing a tired or angry facial appearance. Earlobe reduction can be performed at the same time as a facelift, to rejuvenate earlobes that become enlarged by gravity over time.

70's and older

If healthy, you are not too old for a facelift, primary or secondary. Don't overdo it, don't ask your plastic surgeon to make you look 20 again! Aggressive facelifts look absurd, especially in older patients. A skillful facelift should make you look better, not necessarily younger. Most important, you should still look like you! Your plastic surgeon should require medical clearance by your personal physician. Lastly, if you choose a surgical option, no matter what decade, consult a board certified plastic surgeon.

I hope this review was helpful but remember, these are simply options. Another alternative is lead a healthy lifestyle, adopt a solid skin care routine, and simply grow older with dignity! I am a proponent of discovering and enjoying the inner and outer beauty in each decade of life. The choice is yours.

The secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age.

Kelly Clarkson Was Just Kidding About People Not Wanting To Work With Her

Last week, Kelly Clarkson revealed that apparently no one wants to work with her. Now, Clarkson says the media has taken her words out of context.

Perhaps the reason for confusion stems from the fact that Clarkson repeatedly said she wasn't kidding about her dearth of collaborators.

"I honestly would collaborate with a lot of people, but everyone usually says no," Clarkson told BBC Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw. "I'm not kidding you. I have legitimately asked several people that I'm not going to call out, and that's cool, but I don't know."

After Grimshaw doubted Clarkson statements, she doubled down: "I'm not kidding you," she said.

But you know, she was totally kidding after all. What a jokester.

Groom Makes Wedding Vows To 3-Year-Old Stepdaughter In Emotional Video

On his wedding day last January, NASCAR driver Brian Scott recited vows to not one, but two of the important ladies in his life: his bride Whitney Kay and her then-3-year-old daughter Brielle.

The couple tied the knot on a snowy day in McCall, Idaho. At one point during the ceremony, Scott bent down so he could be eye-to-eye with Brielle and made a heartfelt promise to love and care for her, no matter what.

"I promise to always hold your hand and skip with you down the street and bring comfort to your life," he said. "I vow to make you say your prayers before you eat. I promise to read you stories at night and to always tuck you in real tight. I vow to show you how a man should treat a woman in my relationship with your mother. And above all else, I vow to protect you, care for you and love you forever."

The emotional video -- shot by wedding videographer PenWeddings -- was posted to YouTube last year, but recently resurfaced and went viral with more than 350,000 views at the time of publication. HuffPost Weddings caught up with Scott on Wednesday and reminisced about that snowy day last year, which he called "emotional and surreal."

"I always felt like my vows to my wife Whitney would maybe affect me more and I would get more choked up during those, making those promises to her," he told The Huffington Post. "But I misread that one. It was really when I was reading my vows to Brielle that I got the most choked up. It really all just hits home in that moment -- you're there and dressed up and all the people around. You're living in the moment. It affects you more than when you write it or plan for it or practice it. You get engulfed by it."

The Scotts, who live in Charlotte, North Carolina, first met through mutual friends in 2011. In November 2014, they welcomed a baby boy named Joseph. So far, Scott says he's really enjoying fatherhood.

"Just being there for [the kids] and enjoying family moments together and playing with them and hearing them laugh and seeing them smile -- all of those things are so much better than any of the negative aspects people like to bring up about having kids. It’s not baggage -- it’s great addition [to my life]."

I hope one day he knows this feeling...

Leave it to Beyoncé to convince us to abandon our perfectly good Internet connections and our perfectly good couches to go work up a sweat.

For the fifth anniversary of Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" fitness initiative, the first lady asked Americans to #GimmeFive, or share five healthy choices they are making -- and oh, man, did Beyoncé deliver. Here's an Instagram video of the Queen Bey demonstrating five of her workout moves, set to the music of "Eye of the Tiger," because she's clearly channeling Rocky Balboa:

Ditch Your Fake Eyelashes And Wear These Clever Glasses Instead

Imagine if you could achieve the look of long lashes and a shadowed eye by simply slipping on a pair of glasses. Well, that beautifying feat is totally possible thanks to the folks at Lafont, the Paris-based eyewear brand, which has been designing high fashion frames for more than 90 years.

The handmade specs called the PLAIRE, which retail for $399, are eye-catching without being too kitschy. They are the perfect solution for those days when you don't have the time or the energy to put on eye makeup or falsies, but still want to look fresh and fabulous, which was exactly the case when I recently tried on a pair:

lafont eyeglasses

Cute, right? We're suckers for stylish and clever eyewear around here, so we reached out to Lafont to get the scoop on how they dreamed up this awesome design.

"When I design each frame, my goal is to enhance a woman’s natural beauty, taking careful consideration to complement rather than overpower," Lafont's chief designer Thomas Lafont told HuffPost Style. "The PLAIRE was designed specifically to mimic mascara -- taking a bright-eyed look into play with half a dozen colorful options to choose from. Two-toned layers of acetate finish off the makeup look with a contrasting eye shadow effect."

Amazing. We're going to file these beauts in the why-didn't-I-think-of-that folder, right next to Spanx.

This Black Tie Dress Will Take You From The Boardroom To The Ballroom

Rules were meant to be broken. That's how we feel about fashion and especially about dress codes.

With wedding season and event season almost upon us, chances are your inbox is soon going to be overflowing with invites, all with different clothing requirements. If you're stumped, you might attempt to Google (or ask your mother), "What do I wear to a black tie party?" You'll likely come across antiquated answers that include long gowns and quite possibly, white gloves.

But instead of buying a new dress for every single event, dust off your trusty LBD and just add accessories. To prove our point, we asked New York City-based fashion illustrator Inslee Fariss, to draw the same black dress, styled for six totally different dress codes. Who wants to be spending all their money on gowns only to wear them once? Not us. Get inspired with the six illustrations below.

Business Casual

business casual

While you always want to look professional at the office, a business casual dress code offers quite a bit of wiggle room. Leave your blazer at home and add some personality to your LBD by throwing on a printed silk scarf, a pair of thick frames and your cutest flats.

Business Formal

business formal

Business formal does not have to translate to power suit. Just throw a blazer over your LBD and elevate your outfit with a pair of low, chunky heels and a tote big enough to carry your laptop.

Semi-Formal

semi

Arguably the most fun and least strict dress code, the sky really is the limit when it comes to a semi-formal event. Unlike more formal occasions, you can wear an over-the-shoulder bag and even try out trends that might be a little much for fancier affairs. So grab that choker, toss on a pair of socks with your kitten heels and head out the door.

Cocktail

cocktail

Usually a cocktail party calls for a short number, but there is no reason you can't make your work-appropriate dress function, all it takes is a little finessing. By adding a fun, quirky pair of heels, a cat-eye and a brightly-colored clutch, you'll fit right in (or stand out, depending on how you look at it).

Black Tie Optional

black tie optional

It's time to go wild, because black tie optional means anything goes (well, sort of). If you want to show your more opulent side, wear a fur (or faux-fur) stole or a big cocktail ring. The world is your oyster, just make sure your footwear, hair and makeup look polished.

Black Tie

black tie

Traditionally speaking, black tie events call for long evening gowns, but in this day and age, you can absolutely get away with wearing a shorter hemline. However, if are going to choose a short frock, every other aspect of your outfit needs to be very dressed-up. Opt for high, strappy heels, small, delicate clutches, professional looking updos and an amazing, eye-catching piece of jewelry -- a statement necklace or a pair of sparkly earrings will do wonders to amp up your look.

The Brit Awards may be held to honor achievement in music, but with the hodgepodge of celebrities involved, the evening was also a little bit about the fashion. And on the red carpet, stars were all over the map.

There were velvet tuxedos, sparkles and even a mini Spice Girls reunion. While the action inside the ceremony involved a new Kanye song and Kim Kardashian in some sort of crocheted jumpsuit, it's what the guests showed up in that got everyone talking.

Take a look at some of the best looks of the night below. Which one is your favorite?

Kanye West Says 'Exclusivity Is The New N-Word,' & 7 Other Amazing Quotes From His Zane Lowe Interview

$

Kanye West sat down for his second interview with BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe to talk about everything from his Adidas collaboration to having more children to classism to his relationship with Elon Musk. At one point, West could be heard crying after discussing Louise Wilson, a British fashion design professor who died last year. He also coined a new term -- "the futch," short for "future" -- and dropped the best/ worst pick-up line ever: "Your egg my semen, we're gonna change the world." Here are the highlights:

On working with Adidas: "Everyone I talked to would try to level me, and there was this guy named Hermann Deininger, who was the head of Adidas -- I say was because he passed away recently. I showed him what I shot in Qatar [...] He believed I had something more than what my rap record was. He could tell. He knew. He made sure that Adidas deal got done."

On exclusivity: "I want to apologize to everyone right now because I believe Season 1 [of his Adidas line] might still be in that upper price point and there's still the word 'exclusivity' being thrown around. Exclusivity is the new n-word. Nothing should be exclusive. Everyone should have the opportunity to drink from the same fountain."

On his new album: "I'm just working hard on it. It's fun to work hard, and we're being inventive and I've still got a lot of opinions and perspectives that I think are important and can be inspiring to people. 'The College Dropout' came out of a fight to want to rap. This new album's coming out of a fight to want to design. [...] It's a joyful noise unto the lord. It's still the struggle, but the beauty from the struggle. The song 'Amazing Grace,' coming out of the worst pain possible and making the most beautiful song possible. I want to perform 'Only One' as many times as possible. I can be vilified or misunderstood and I didn't come here to be liked. I came here to make a difference. I'm not talking about this interview, I'm talking about life."

On working with Paul McCartney: "We just make song after song after song after song after song. [...] People think our first two singles don't have drums but both of those are percussion instruments [...] Meeting Paul McCartney is like meeting Ralph Lauren. The greatest of their field, period, of all time. [...] The whole cadence was trap, as soon as Paul starts playing I start singing in trap. Fusion is the future. The mixing of ideas, the two lunch tables working together. Humanity, period, we're one people."

On classism: "The juxtaposition of the the front and second rows [of his fashion show] is fusion, is the glass shattering of the class system, which is the new racism. Class is the new way to discriminate against people, to hold people down, to hold people in their place based on where their kids go to school, how much money they make, what they drive, where they live and what type of clothes they have and how much they have in their account for retirement. To somehow say this person right here means more than this person. I know I tweeted, 'Black lives matter,' but all lives matter. My doorman is more important to me than any head of any company. He keeps us safe. My driver keeps us safe."

On the Grammys: "The Grammys are definitely like an ex-girlfriend. As soon as you get in the car with them you wanna go right back home."

On having more kids: "I'm practicing really hard. I try as many times a day as I can. Nori, this one is for you. You need a sibling."

On Drake: "He's delivering a level of product to humanity that is of high quality. I don't have any advice for this young man, but what I can say is, 'Run. Fly. Go as fast as you can. Don't stop. Anytime I can be of any service, advice, beats, whatever you need, confidential design advice on the shoes you're doing at the other company -- anything we can collectively do to deliver more awesomeness to the world as a team.' Not just me and him, us all."

Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady have been married for six years and they celebrated their love Thursday by sharing some sweet photos.

Bundchen took to Instagram to post a photo from her 2009 wedding to Brady. In the photo, she wears a white gown and stands smiling next to the New England Patriots quarterback. She captioned the shot with: "Magical day! #tbt ❤️❤️❤️ Dia mágico!"

Brady posted a snapshot on his Facebook page, thanking his supermodel wife.

The couple married in a small, private ceremony in Santa Monica, California, on Feb. 26, 2009. In April of that same year, they held a second wedding in Costa Rica.

The two met on a blind date, and the former Victoria's Secret Angel said she knew immediately that they were meant to be.

"I knew Tom was the one straightaway," Bundchen told Vogue U.K. for the March 2015 issue. "I could see it in his eyes that he was a man with integrity who believes in the same things I do."

Scarlett Johansson Says There's Nothing 'Creepy' or 'Inappropriate' About John Travolta

Scarlett Johansson defended John Travolta on Thursday, calling the actor "a class act" and denouncing the image of the two on the Academy Awards red carpet as "an unfortunate still-frame" that doesn't reflect a "totally sweet and totally welcome" encounter.

In an exclusive statement to The Associated Press, Johansson said "there is nothing strange, creepy or inappropriate about John Travolta." Travolta greeted Johansson at Sunday's Oscars with a kiss and his arm around her waist. The photo has since been turned into an Internet meme, adding to an impression furthered by Travolta's touching of Idina Menzel's face while presenting at the Los Angeles ceremony.

"The image that is circulating is an unfortunate still-frame from a live-action encounter that was very sweet and totally welcome," said Johansson. "That still photo does not reflect what preceded and followed if you see the moment live. Yet another way we are misguided, misinformed and sensationalized by the 24-hour news cycle. I haven't seen John in some years and it is always a pleasure to be greeted by him."

Johansson and Travolta co-starred in the 2004 drama "A Love Song for Bobby Long."

New Year Communications Guide

$
0
0
When communicating with others in the business world, be sure what you say and write has impact. Here are tips for both verbal and written communications.

Verbal Communication

• Speak clearly (don't mumble) and loud enough (but not too loud), while standing or sitting up straight and looking your listener in the eye.

• Make a statement rather than asking a question. By the same token, don't weaken your comment by following it up with remarks such as "Don't you think?" or "Wouldn't you agree?"

• Avoid disclaimers such as "I'm no authority, but . . ." and "I could be wrong."

• Never answer a question with a question.

• Be aware that certain words and phrases detract from the power of your speech. For example, qualifiers such as "sort of" and "rather," as well as other adjectives and adverbs, can weaken rather than strengthen your message, as in "I'm really sorry," or "The program is super fantastic."

• Avoid fillers such as um and ah. It's better to have a pregnant pause.

Written Communication

• State what your letter or e-mail is about in the first paragraph, and use the person's name in your salutation.

• Write the letter or e-mail from the reader's point of view. That is, anticipate what the reader needs to know and answer any questions or concerns you think your letter or e-mail might bring up. In other words, give the reader as much information as possible about the subject of the letter or e-mail instead of leaving loose ends.

• Write the way you talk. In other words, don't use multisyllabic words and complicated phrases in order to sound smart or important.

• Be specific, not cute or flippant.

• If dealing with a controversial subject, make sure you can defend your position and that your argument is relevant.

• Use active-voice verbs and strong action words, as in "I know that this plan is a good one" rather than "It is surmised that this plan would be good."

• Keep your letter or e-mail brief and to the point. The more words you use, the less impact they will have.

• In the last paragraph, state your intentions: "I will call your assistant next week to set up a meeting that is convenient for you." And make sure you follow up!

Not to Prime Is a Crime: 5 Primers, 5 Ways

$

Priming is an essential step in any makeup routine. Not only is it great for your skin, but it is necessary in ensuring your makeup stays flawless from dawn till dusk. Primer prepares skin for makeup application by creating a smooth, perfect surface for product to grab onto for longer-lasting, natural looking wear. This barrier between your skin and your makeup protects you from clogged pores, helps minimize fine lines and acne scaring, and can even temporarily eliminate the appearance of dark spots.

2015-02-27-primershuffpo.jpg

There are a large abundance of products available to the average consumer which makes trying to pin point which primer to use pretty overwhelming. I've listed below each of the primers I offer from my own line, along with their benefits and application tips to make sure you know exactly what primer you should be using. Because no matter what, not to prime IS a crime!

2015-02-27-mattifyingmineralprimerhuffpo.jpg

1) Mattifying Mineral Primer
Double-beauty duty! For those of you that are partial to mineral powders, this primer is for you. The powder preps and perfects skin before AND after foundation application! Use it first as a skin-prepping primer to blur imperfections and get your base ready for your makeup. Use it again after you apply your foundation as you would a translucent powder to increase the longevity of your makeup even more.

2015-02-27-apprimerhuffpo.jpg

2) Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Skin Primer
My hero product! This primer is unlike other silicon based primers. It feels more like a moisturizer upon application (thanks to skin soothers like Vitamin E, Chamomile and Yarrow Extracts), keeping skin hydrated to allow your foundation a smoother landing.

2015-02-27-poreminimizerhuffpo.jpg

3) Auto Pilot Pore Minimizer & Mattifier
Minimize your pores! This primer contains silicone derivatives to reduce and refine pores. It can be used as a spot treatment or all over, leaving skin smooth as velvet. I recommend using it throughout the day to reduce shine!

2015-02-27-concealerprimerhuffpo.jpg

4) Auto Pilot Concealer Primer
Even concealer deserves its own primer. Eyes are the first area of the face to show stress, fatigue, and neglect. This primer was designed to not only keep concealer looking fresher and lasting longer, but it was formulated with light-reflective agents to take the focus off fine lines and wrinkles.

2015-02-27-radianceboostingprimerhuffpo.jpg

5) Auto Pilot Radiance-Boosting Primer
Skin on the dry side? Need that extra boost of radiance? Use this glow-giving primer! It can be applied before or after your base for radiance that lifts and flatters.

Everything You Need To Know About #TheDress

Unless you were in a bunker on Thursday, you've heard the only story more viral than the llamas on the lam.

A photo of a dress -- now trending on every social media site as #TheDress -- left the world divided. Is it white and gold? Blue and black? Or, dare we say it, blue and brown?

the dress

We know the answer. Here's what all the fuss is about:

An image of the dress was originally posted by a 21-year-old singer named Caitlin McNeill.

McNeill shared it with talent manager Sarah Weichel, who begged the question, "Is this dress white and gold, or blue and black? Me and my friends can’t agree and we are freaking the fuck out."

It's freaking blue and black.

the dress blue and black

Though you may not see it that way. Wired wrote a great piece outlining how our eyes deceive us, and the science behind The Dress.

Wired reports:

“What’s happening here is your visual system is looking at this thing, and you’re trying to discount the chromatic bias of the daylight axis,” says Bevil Conway, a neuroscientist who studies color and vision at Wellesley College. “So people either discount the blue side, in which case they end up seeing white and gold, or discount the gold side, in which case they end up with blue and black.” (Conway sees blue and orange, somehow.)

You can buy it.

The dress is by Roman Originals, and the company knows its garment is famous. Oh yeah, and the site describes it as "Royal Blue."

the dress

Some still probably think it's white and gold. That's OK.

#TeamWhiteGold is still going strong on Twitter and Facebook. #TeamBlueandBlack is winning, though.

Yes, there are memes.

Because of course there are memes.

The Dress' poster has spoken.

McNeill told Business Insider that the whole experience has been odd, but she enjoyed the attention the dress received from celebrities:

"I thought my followers on Tumblr would maybe have a good reaction, but I never would have considered that Taylor Swift and Mindy Kaling would be tweeting about it," McNeill said.

McNeill also says that the dress is blue and black. Debate over!

Statement Jumpsuits Are The Red Carpet Trend Anyone Could Wear

The red carpet is usually filled with flowing gowns and body-hugging frocks, but this past season, pants had a serious presence.

Celebrities including Emma Stone and Jada Pinkett Smith were all about the statement jumpsuits. These rompers aren't run-of-the-mill onesies; they have capes, sparkling adornments, sheer paneling and much more than an ordinary black number.

Since jumpsuits are like an outfit one-stop shop, they're great for year-round festivities, including a fancy event, dinner parties or as the celebrities below clearly prove, a red carpet. Jumpsuits are also the perfect canvas to layer upon, but with all of the action involved in a statement piece, they might as well be worn alone.

So, it's time to toss out those long, boring gowns and little black dresses, and get on board with wearing the coolest, most glamorous jumpsuits out there. Whether you're a print fiend, denim lover or an avant-garde type, check out some inspiration below, and prepare yourself for that bathroom break after all of the bubbly.

And if there's one thing we wish everyone would get on board with... it's a denim jumpsuit.

The 9 Best Swimsuit Brands You Have Probably Never Heard Of

Spring is almost here. Okay, that is just a rumor we heard that we can neither confirm nor deny, but these tundra-like temperatures have to end sometime, right? And what is the first thing we are going to do when the earth unthaws? Head to the beach.

While we have lost a finger or two to frostbite in the past couple weeks, that hasn't stopped us from preparing for swimsuit season. We've been going to the gym, working on our abs -- just kidding, we've actually been eating Nutella and watching Netflix -- but we have been online shopping for the coolest swim gear around. Everyone knows to head to J.Crew or Victoria's Secret, but who wants to be spotted in the same suit as their friend? To help get you the most unique (and stylish) two-piece, we've rounded up nine under-the-radar brands that are really killing it.

Herewith, the bikini brands that are about to blow up.

Cali Dreaming

Cali Dreaming is making waves (pun intended), so if you aren't already familiar with the swimwear brand, it's only a matter of time. Tons of their suits have been featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition and for a good reason. The fashion-forward company offers something for everyone -- if one of their neutral suits isn't your thing, they also have a beautiful selection of hand-painted, printed options.

Hackwith Design House

If you're a minimalist, we've found the perfect swimwear line for you. Hackwith Design House's bathing suits are made up entirely of neutrals and since there are no colors or patterns, you can mix and match pieces from the entire collection. Though we love how sleek HDH Swim looks on the body, the best part of the line has to be that is it designed with curves in mind.

Giejo

Montauk bound. Wishing #summer #fridays would never end #tgif

When Gabby Sabharwal became frustrated because she couldn't find bathing suits with fashion-forward prints, she didn't mope around, instead she created her own line, Giejo. Giejo offers interchangeable swim separates featuring versatile patterns and figure-flattering silhouettes. And trust us, you are going to want to buy these babies by the dozen.

San Lorenzo Bikinis

San Lorenzo Bikinis are anything but basic. The line, which started in Lima, Peru back in 1991, features intricate designs (think lots of braided bikini bottoms and interlace high neck tops) and bright, bold colors.

Kiini

Kiini is the brand that fashion girls love. The NY-based company can count "it" girls like Leandra Medine and Hannah Bronfman as fans. The teeny weeny bikinis are made using handmade crochet, elastic and other high tech fabrics and they feature no clasps, buttons or ties for the most comfortable fit.

Zulu & Zephyr

If the Australians know one thing, it's how to make a killer swimsuit. Zulu & Zephyr is an Australian lifestyle brand that produces swimwear fit for any beach bum. Between the leopard print bikinis, high-waisted bottoms and halter-neck one-pieces, you're going to have a tough time just picking one.

We Are Handsome

It looks like the Aussies have done it again. Graphic prints and vivid colors are the name of the game with this line and though you may not be familiar with We Are Handsome by name, you have probably spotted one of their suits on an A-lister like Beyoncé or Rihanna.

One Teapsoon

Yes, One Teapsoon makes great denim shorts, but they also make pretty cool bathers. They definitely skew on the risqué side, but if you're looking for something different, look no further.

Sea Dreamer

Sweet Dreams ✨ #seadreamer

If you like feminine details and delicate touches, Sea Dreamer has a bikini for you. Stunning hand-crocheted one-pieces and bathing suit tops that double as crop tops are just a few examples of the things you'll find on their site.
