Gigi Hadid was definitely born with good looks--see model mom Yolanda Foster as exhibit A--and could pull off that no-makeup makeup look every day if she wanted. Lucky for us, she has a little fun. Here, our favorite hair and makeup moments from W's September cover star.

Sporting brushed-out curls in Miami in 2014 (above), Hadid highlighted her natural beauty with mocha-colored lipstick and subtle smoky eye.

Now everyone knows you can have chic hair without scheduling a blowout, but in 2012 Gigi Hadid was way ahead of the curve.

Naturally, the model turned things up for the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscar party, with golden lids and Old Hollywood ringlets. Va va voom!

Part of Gigi Hadid's charm is that in spite of being a Beverly Hills progeny and an IMG model, she is, somehow, relatable. The superstar flaunted this aspect of her versatility at a formal Chanel dinner in 2014, where she dressed down the house's storied tweed with easy hair and minimal makeup.

Rosy lids, lips, and cheeks came along for the ride as the model celebrated Melbourne Cup Day in Australia. (For those searching for "festival beauty inspiration," look no further.)

But the model can do sexy, too, as evidenced by her winged eyeliner, crimson nails, and Victoria's Secret-worthy curls at the 2015 Met Gala.

A face of Maybelline, Hadid sported a hybrid between a smoky eye and a cat-eye at the brand's 100 Year Anniversary Celebration in New York...

And an icy white and black cat-eye for the brand's party in Toronto.

A true California girl, Hadid always looks best with a bit of bronzer and a laid-back 'do.

A Simple Way To Know When It's OK To Ask A Woman If She's Pregnant

Mom Carrie Saum was fed up with people assuming her "squishy" belly was a "baby bump," so she made a helpful video and flowchart to let people know when it's OK to ask a woman if she's pregnant.

According to Saum, there are only two scenarios when it's appropriate: If she tells you she's pregnant and you respond, "Really? What? You're pregnant?" or if you're in the room where she is giving birth and see the baby crowning or witness the C-section taking place.

"The bottom line here is that women's bodies are not your business," the mom explains, adding, "If a woman wants you to know, she'll tell you."

Anna Kendrick Shares Her Perfect Life Motto With Elle Magazine

Anna Kendrick seems to have this thing we call life all figured out.

In a recent interview with Elle magazine (for which she posed alongside celeb BFF Aubrey Plaza), the actress discusses everything from turning 30 to the best advice she's ever received. But best of all, she shares her new life motto, in turn giving us all new words to live by.

When asked if she has her own motto, Kendrick gave what might be one of her best responses ever: "I can't think of anything that wouldn't make me sound like a pretentious fuckface. Maybe that should be my motto: Don't be a pretentious fuckface."

That is pretty much the best advice anyone could give, and at least its honest. We can also think of a few people who could benefit from adopting it, too. (Ahem, Donald Trump).

Throughout her career, Kendrick has also been on the receiving end of some great advice from industry peers like James Corden, who helped her get through her Oscars performance

She told the mag, "I remember when I was getting ready to perform at the Oscars with Neil Patrick Harris, I ran into James Corden from 'Into the Woods,' and I told him how nervous I was and he said, 'You have to enjoy yourself because the 13-year-old you would punch yourself if you didn't.' I try to keep that in mind. I think that's really great advice for everybody. To enjoy yourself in the good moments, and to push yourself in the hard moments."

Beyond sharing her wisdom, the "Pitch Perfect" star opened up to Elle about what it means to her to be 30 years old.

"I started calling myself 30 when I turned 29. I feel really ready for it. I feel like in your twenties you have to put up with a lot of bullshit. I know you have to in your 30s as well, but you can always say, 'You know what? I'm 30-goddamned years old so I'm going to go home before 2am because I can.' I'm excited for that.”

Courtney Love Pens Heartbreaking Message To Late Husband Kurt Cobain

Courtney Love's daughter Frances Bean Cobain turned 23 on Aug. 18, and the milestone seems to have stirred some emotions in the rock star.

On Aug. 19, Love shared a photo of herself with her late husband, Kurt Cobain, in bed with Frances when she was just a baby. Love captioned the photo, "My greatest love and our precious Bean #missyou #memories."

Two days later, the 51-year-old singer shared another image from the same photo shoot and penned a heartbreaking message to Cobain, who died in 1994 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"Makes me feel so sad. Our baby is all grown up now. Jesus Kurt look at her face, what on earth were you thinking..!?!? God I miss you, we all miss you #family #memories #turnbacktime #lovehim," she wrote.

While Cobain never really seems to fade from the headlines, the late rocker was in the spotlight again earlier this year with the release of the documentary "Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck," which saw Frances Bean acting as executive producer and had Love's full support.

McDonald's Server's "Porcelain Doll" Look Has Diners Lovin' It

The infatuated customers who visit a Taiwan McDonald's have a happy meal no matter what they order as long as a certain server is there.

Wei Han Xu, aka McDonald's Goddess and Weiwei, has become a viral sensation after a customer took pictures of the big-eyed beauty at work and posted them on his blog.

"It's my pleasure to introduce her from Taiwan to the world," RainDog told The Huffington Post on Monday. (Article continues below images.)

The photos have lured customers to the Taipei location in droves and generated lots of media attention outside the country.

AdWeek rhapsodized over her "stunning, porcelain-doll-faced" appearance, writing she could "easily double as an anime character."

The aspiring model's social media accounts have blown up, and she has parlayed her fast food fame into appearances on local talk shows as well, AdWeek reported.

On the downside, her McD's manager isn't thrilled with the publicity because fans often crowd the counter to take pictures and leave without buying something, Asian news site Rocket News 24 wrote.

Mashable called attention to the unsavory side of her popularity, saying she had become an "object of the Internet's increasingly creepy affection."

"While it seems from her social media that Weiwei doesn't mind the newfound attention, here's hoping that her fans view her as more than french fry-slinging sexual object," the site wrote.

Videos like the one below probably don't help. Here she is in a pink maid's outfit as part of a store promotion a few years ago.

A Comprehensive List Of Taylor Swift's '1989' Tour Guests So Far

Forget "My Little Pony" -- Taylor Swift's special-guest roster on her "1989" tour proves friendship is magic.

Thanks to Instagram and Twitter, the celebrities and musicians she invites on stage each night have become as expected as her shiny outfits and smooth backup dancers. In the beginning, Swift's invitees were slightly more expected: ladies from her much-'grammed crew, or musical acts that could use Swift's star power to reach a bigger audience.

But when unexpected, er, friends started to pop up -- the U.S. Women's Soccer Team? Joan Baez?? Kobe Bryant??? -- it was hard to keep track of just how many famous faces graced the many stadiums Swift set foot in. Here's a list of all the celeb cameos we've seen on the "1989" tour as of Monday. (A * denotes that they sang, too.)

  • Gigi Hadid (Detroit, London, East Rutherford)

  • Martha Hunt (Detroit, London)

  • Dan Reynolds, Imagine Dragons* (Detroit)

  • Little Big Town* (Pittsburgh)

  • Cara Delevingne (Philadelphia, London)

  • Mariska Hargitay (Philadelphia)

  • Lily Aldridge (East Rutherford)

  • Candice Swanepoel (East Rutherford)

  • Uzo Aduba (East Rutherford, Los Angeles*)

  • Behati Prinsloo (East Rutherford)

  • Lena Dunham (East Rutherford)

  • Hailee Steinfeld (East Rutherford)

  • Joan Baez (Santa Clara)

  • Julia Roberts (Santa Clara)

  • Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles)

  • Ryan Tedder, OneRepublic* (Los Angeles)

  • Mary J. Blige (Los Angeles)

  • Sean O'Pry (Los Angeles)

  • Chris Rock (Los Angeles)

  • Matt LeBlanc (Los Angeles)

With three more shows in LA this week, followed by San Diego, Salt Lake City, Denver, and St. Paul -- to name just a few -- we're sure this list will become much longer before the year's end. And we say, the more, the merrier. But if Swift finds that there is simply no one left in Hollywood to invite, we here at The Huffington Post would gladly step up to the plate. Just sayin'.

3 Ways to Increase Positivity With Your Wardrobe Mindset

$
0
0
How many times have you walked into your closet and thought, "I have nothing to wear" all while you're staring at a closet that is overflowing with clothes? You then frantically search for an outfit that ends up being the same old thing you always wear, but because you're running low on time, you just deal with it and go on with your day.

This frantic minute or two is impacting your entire day. By starting the day with a negative thought, you block your own ability to make this day the best one yet. If you start your morning with a positive mindset, you open yourself up to more positivity throughout the day. This leads to greater clarity on what your desires are and how you will achieve them. If you're ready to add more positivity and clarity into your day, it's time to start with the one thing that you do every single morning- getting dressed.

Detox Your Closet

Every morning you pick out an outfit and get dressed, regardless of how much time and effort you put into it. With an activity that happens so frequently in your life, it's important to make sure that it's not creating a negative impact on your day. The fastest way to add more joy and positivity into your day is by identifying the parts of your daily routine that are chaotic and stressful and eliminating or adjusting them so that they better serve you. By eliminating the frustrations that you have with your wardrobe, you will feel excited about what's inside your closet door.

The best way to detox your closet is to start with baby steps. Give yourself small challenges either daily or weekly. If you're planning to do a major closet cleanout, only do this when you know you have the time to do it. A closet cleanout always looks scarier halfway through the process, so you want to make sure you have time to complete it because if not, you're going to have a giant pile of clothes haunting you for the rest of the weekend.

One of my favorite detox tips is to wear a pair of shoes that you haven't worn in a while. At the end of the day, ask yourself this, "did you fall in love with them all over again?" If so, by all means keep them! However, if you realized you haven't been wearing them because they're uncomfortable or don't go with any of your outfits, it's time to get rid of them TODAY. If you plan on donating or reselling clothes or shoes, never put them back in your closet. Set them aside so that you make it a priority to get them out the door!

Define Your Signature Style

When you define your signature style, you know exactly what to wear because you know what pieces of clothing represent your best self. When you are dressed as the best version of yourself, you radiate confidence.

Defining your signature style is not about incorporating the latest trends into your outfit. It's about identifying what colors and silhouettes you feel best in. When you look and feel your best, the rest of the world sees this.

A great way to identify what colors and silhouettes look best on you without hiring a personal stylist is simple. Here's something you can do today: head over to your Facebook profile pictures. These pictures were chosen by you as representation of how you want the world to see you, so it's a good indicator on what outfits you feel confident in. Take a look at each picture and ask yourself which colors and style of clothes suit you best. Hint: it's important to look past the trends. Just because something isn't in style anymore doesn't mean that the color doesn't look amazing on you!

Open Room for Clarity and Positivity

By eliminating your wardrobe frustrations and curating your closet so that you only have pieces that best represent you, you've opened up space that was once taken up by negative thoughts. You've saved yourself from a frantic and chaotic morning! This is going to open room in your life for those moments of clarity. The less you are focused on the things that aren't going right, the more you can focus on all that you can achieve. And when you live this mindset everyday, you know that your goals are achievable. When you have a positive and clear mindset, asking for a raise or moving to a brand new city is no longer as scary as it once was. You see the outcome in the most positive way, knowing that you are acting on this decision because it's what serves you best, instead of focusing on all of the things that could go wrong.

In the time that you used to spend searching for something in your closet, take this newfound time for a positive thought or think about what you're grateful for that morning. By regaining control over your morning through your closet, you are bringing in positivity, allowing yourself to focus your energy on achieving your desires.

6 Things Every Independent Woman Should Know Before Falling In Love

$
0
0
To be an independent woman is to trust yourself. It is to believe that your life is about fulfilling your individual potential. And while that can and often does include a happy, loving partnership, independent women do one thing -- one crucial thing -- differently: they put themselves first in a world that all but demands they do the opposite.

Letting the life you've built for yourself intertwine with your commitment to another person can feel terrifying and strangely threatening at times, and there are too few conversations being had about what it means to let your desire to be yourself and be part of a pair coexist, if not merge.

Here are six things self-proclaimed independent women should know before they fall in love:

1. You might fear losing the autonomy you've carved out for yourself -- not because you're going to, but because you care so much about it.

Committing to someone genuinely can feel sacrificial. It requires your brain to shift to consider the whole a lot more often than not. It's a thing many women are naturally good at, and can be good at to a fault when their emotional instincts are activated. The love we're all aiming for is the kind that's endlessly rewarding and deeply gratifying and entirely selfless. Being able to maintain your concept of a whole "me" and a half "we" is an extremely difficult balancing act. So it's scary, no matter how grounded and certain and confident you are. You're allowed to be afraid of losing the thing you likely value most, but you're not allowed to let that fear hold you back from other things you want just as much.

2. Historically, you weren't supposed to maintain your "self," which is part of why it seems so difficult to do now.

Back in the day, you were supposed to find an individual to marry, have your father "give you away" (pass you on as property) at the ceremony, take your new husband's last name, and dedicate your life to your relationship. You didn't have to maintain your sense of self, and it was more of an inconvenience than anything else. The idea that women can both be completely in love and completely devoted to themselves and to their life's work is new territory, and it's culminated in this feeling that we must do everything flawlessly (when in reality, nobody does anything perfectly).

3. Independent women are not made for relationships in the way that women are "supposed" to be -- and their love is better for it

We're not completely, singularly devoted to one thing or another. We value our alone time and sometimes our work or art or well-being comes first. This does not make us unequipped for real love, it facilitates it. The more we ground in who we actually are, the more we can bring that person to a genuine relationship. But getting there often requires letting go of expecting a it to look the way the relationships we idolized growing up did. It's rewriting the narrative of what a love is "supposed" to be, and how it "should" feel, not only on terms that you're comfortable with, but that are a more true and honest and loving expression of who you are in and out of your partnership.

4. Independent women tend to have incredibly high expectations.

...And that's usually the reason why they have trouble with relationships -- romantic and not. We all know the "successful woman" archetype as it's traditionally presented: a cold, calculated, unemotional workaholic. We assume it's this nature that makes them always saddled with relationship issues, but more often, it's that they have such sky-high expectations for themselves and for their work, they have a really hard time not holding their relationships to the same standards. The only problem with that is a lack of insight: you can change your career, but you cannot change another person to be what you expect. And so long as you're focused on changing someone, you're not focused on loving him or her.

5. Your partner won't be the most important part of your life, but he or she will be one of them.

Your relationship will come first at times, your work will come first at times, your self will come first at times. It depends on the time, and it depends how well you're able to break yourself free of the obligations you feel subconsciously compelled to. The truth is that nobody puts any one of these things first consistently. People who effectively balance everything that is important to them in their lives learn when and how to prioritize.

6. You can be independent and also be connected to another person. The right relationship will make you feel seen and respected for who you are and what you want.

If at any point your partner makes you feel guilty, or as though you have to choose between who and what you love, you're probably not with the right person. Or, rather, he or she is not the someone with whom you will be able to build a truly fulfilling life. The best relationships are the ones that make you more yourself, not less. Even if your fears flare up at the beginning, the right person will reassure you that he or she is not only tolerant of the life you want, not only supportive of it... but it's what they love about you most.

Here's the One Thing Makeup Artists Wish You Would Stop Doing

You probably have a trusted makeup routine you do every single day of your life. But guess what? It might include something that would make a pro cringe. We asked nine top makeup artists to get real with us about the one thing they wish their clients would stop doing. How many are you guilty of?

Using too much makeup. "I see more and more women wearing more and more makeup. Though I'm a huge supporter of wanting to look the way you want to look, I'm concerned that a number of women are simply following an Instagram trend. To me, that much makeup doesn't even look good in pictures with professional lighting, let alone in full daylight or under fluorescent office lights." --Beau Nelson, who works with Nicole Richie and Christina Hendricks

OD'ing on brow pencil. "One trend I've been seeing that is bad is what I call the stencil brow. It has hard, square edges and an unbelievable arch. The brows are a vast mountain of little hairs. The best way to draw them on or fill them in is to use a lighter color than your hair and use featherlight strokes in the direction your hairs naturally grow. And it doesn't need to be the same opacity everywhere--usually the brows are more transparent on the inner edges." --Quinn Murphy, who works with Gigi Hadid, Lily Aldridge, and Olivia Palermo

Using way too much foundation. "One thing that I've noticed lately is women using foundation that's too heavy for their skin. In my opinion, the beauty of a makeup look is showcasing your radiant skin. I like to use a lightweight tinted moisturizer and spot-check with a fuller-coverage concealer. If you get shiny, carry oil-blotting papers to keep the skin fresh and radiant." --Vincent Oquendo, who works with Ciara and Uma Thurman

Matching your foundation to the wrong part of your face. "One common mistake is matching your foundation to your cheeks and jawline. This often makes the face and neck two different colors. Instead, test foundation on your neck or collarbone to find the perfect match." --Mally Roncal, who works with Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez

Trying to look exactly like the illustration in a makeup chart. "My biggest beauty pet peeve at the moment is the heavily applied Instagram makeup: brows with sharp definition and faces made up so heavily that they look like a makeup-chart illustration. I'm all for playing with makeup and trying new things, but the overapplication that's so popular these days makes my heart hurt. I like a little breathing room on a face, with a little skin and sheen." --Fiona Stiles, who works with Gabrielle Union and Rachel McAdams

Using makeup charts at all. "I'm completely against makeup charts. I forbid it at all my makeup classes because all my clients think that those face charts are for everyone. But that's not how it really works. People have different faces and features, so how could everyone follow one face chart?" --Hrush Achemyan, who works with Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner

Making a mess of mascara. "I constantly see women who apply so much mascara but then don't clean up the eye area properly. You're then left with mascara smudged all over the lid. After applying mascara, I like to wait for it to dry before taking a dry Q-Tip to wipe away excess product that may have transferred onto the eyelid and underneath the eye. It only takes a few seconds, and it makes such a difference." --Carissa Ferreri, who works with Gina Rodriguez and Bailee Madison

Wearing boring lipstick. "I wish women would choose brighter colors for their lips. Too many woman think they're playing it safe by choosing nude colors or shades with a berry undertone. The result oftentimes makes women look drab. Don't be afraid to pop some color on the lips. Giorgio Armani Rouge d'Armani Lipstick in Sheer Pink 501 gives a bright veil of fuchsia and L'Oréal Color Caresse Wet Shine Stain Coral Tattoo gives a hot-persimmon sheen to the lips that lasts." --Molly Stern, who works with Cara Delevingne and Reese Witherspoon

Taking makeup trends too seriously. "I miss a certain individuality when it comes to makeup. Beauty trends get picked up so widely now on social media, and you see more and more people with a similar makeup flow. Overlined lips, contouring, and strobing are techniques that have been around for years. Trust me, I'm a huge fan of soft and pretty and having all of the essentials down, but when it's all said and done, don't be too much of a serious Sally when it comes to makeup. Remember to have fun with it and do unexpected things. You never know who'll be watching or who you'll inspire to take their own makeup risk." --Mary Phillips, who works with Chrissy Teigen and Jennifer Lopez

Ed Burns And Wife Christy Turlington's First Meeting Is One For The Books

Production assistants, take note: it may seem improbable, but some day that beautiful supermodel you're fetching coffee for could very well become your wife.

That's how Ed Burns first met his spouse Christy Turlington, he recounted in a conversation with HuffPost Live on Monday.

"I was a production assistant at a television show ['Entertainment Tonight'], and we interviewed Christy back when I was just a lowly PA," explained the "Public Morals" creator. "I had to get her a cup of coffee. Fortunately she was very nice."

And though the world-famous Turlington doesn't remember it, the encounter is one the veteran actor will never forget.

"She has no memory of it, but of course, [as] the PA who gets to meet Christy Turlington, I remember it very well," Burns said.

The two would ultimately meet formally years later -- "through mutual friends" -- and get married. If that's not an inspirational story from a PA job, then what is?

Watch more from Ed Burns' conversation with HuffPost Live here.

This Video Is A Beautiful Reminder To #LetGo And Live Your Life

$

Life is stressful. The pressure to be perfect and our never-ending to-do lists seem to be omnipresent. But before the mere mention of this fact starts to cause you anxiety, we suggest you watch this amazing video from the folks at Sanctuary Spa

The U.K.-based beauty brand has created a beautiful reminder that life is more than just doing -- it's about being. Beyond Sanctuary's obvious goal of selling its luxurious beauty products, the company also aims to task women with the simple -- and free -- act of letting go.

The 2 1/2-minute video is a tearjerker that features a group of women between the ages of 55 and 82, reminiscing about their younger years and the moments they missed or wished they had savored if stress hadn't gotten in the way. One woman shares: "What I wouldn't give to extend those good-night kisses, instead of moaning about having to get up early in the morning." Another woman soberly explains: "What I wouldn't give for an extra second to cuddle my babies before they became too big to hold."

Earlier this year Sanctuary, which is owned by PZ Cussons Beauty, commissioned research that found that 40 percent of women in the U.K. -- which is approximately 12 million women -- feel like they're about to burn out, and that 62 percent of women feel that their lack of personal time is holding them back.

With that said, the beauty company, in conjunction with communications agency Southpaw, conceptualized #LetGo -- its first brand-focused marketing campaign.

“What we’re saying is it’s OK every now and again to stop and relax and breathe,” Jacqueline Burchell, global marketing and product development director for PZ Cussons Beauty, told WWD

Cara Delevingne Strips Down For New YSL Campaign

Cara Delevingne looks good in everything, even when she's not wearing much of anything at all.

The 23-year-old stripped down for YSL's new Rouge Pur Couture campaign, and the brand shared an image on Instagram Monday. The racy shot was cleverly captioned, "a colour so bold you'd feel naked without it."

Since landing the gig with YSL back in 2013, Delevingne has shown off her drumming skills and good looks. But in just a black blazer and fierce red lip, this ad is her sexiest yet for the brand.

Delevingne has spoken out about the "horrible" and "disgusting" things she and other young models have dealt with when it comes to sexually suggestive shoots. But she has proven that on her own terms, she's perfectly comfortable posing for tasteful shoots, including spreads for Allure and John Hardy

Feminists Give Photoshop The Middle Finger In New Ad

Photoshop just got a big F-you -- from a t-shirt company.

In a new video from FCKH8, women of all sizes, shapes and colors take off t-shirts with the message "This is what a #feminist looks like" printed across them. As they stand in their unretouched glory, they reveal what "real women" look like. Spoiler alert: pretty damn different from one another -- and all beautiful.

The diverse group of women in the video send an important message to those watching: "Real women can be whatever the f**k they are." They also explicitly call out Photoshop, proudly flashing their middle fingers.

Though the term "real women" is inherently problematic (because, duh, every woman is real), it is refreshing to see a company get behind the idea that "real women" come in all kinds of bodies.

More than anything, the video serves as a critique (albeit a commercial one) of society's ridiculous beauty standards. And that's something we can certainly get behind.

Photographer Sean Burke (@SeanGaleBurke) first met Kiel James Patrick (@KJP), the founder of an eponymous ultra-preppy fashion label, at a Gatsby-themed gala at the Ritz in Boston. Burke's Instagram posts of his friends at their estates, driving vintage British sports cars, and of his parents sailing a classic wooden boat had already caught Kiel's attention, and the two have been working together on their joint social media presence ever since. Today, they've expanded their squad of Instagrammers to include Kiel's fiancé Sarah Vickers, (they met while shopping at Ralph Lauren), former-intern and photographer Erick Dent (a descendant of Ulysses S. Grant), and several other boat-shoe-loving buddies. Here, Kiel, who may very well be the preppiest user on Instagram, talks about his social presence.

How do you use Instagram as an advertising platform?
The strongest marketing has always been word of mouth, or trusting a friend's advice and opinion on what they like to wear or eat. Everyone on our team and in our factory has their own fan base and you're buying into his or her lifestyle by wearing the products we're making. We don't pay for advertising. We simply put out pictures of whatever it is we're doing that day and they go viral. It's basically trading likes.

How would you describe your followers?
Educated and very conscious of quality. They know the difference between good and bad and they're not necessarily going to jump on the next trend. The thing I like best about American-made is that it's a symbol of quality. A lot of people are like, "You're preppy," but it's the classic American lifestyle. One of my biggest inspirations is Norman Rockwell. I like to think that our photos are timeless.

Do your followers notice you on the street?
One hundred times a day. We went to a Taylor Swift concert a week ago and the security had to escort us to our seats and they said we were not allowed to get up again and they would bring us food and drinks.

Have you met anyone famous through Instagram?
We took a picture with Kylie Jenner at the Ralph Lauren show. We posted it and it went absolutely viral. People were like, "Oh my god, worlds colliding!" I didn't even know who she was. Now I do. Lilly Pulitzer--the queen B herself--and her team also discovered me through social media and invited me to her 80th birthday party to sing happy birthday to her.

What performs the best for you on Instagram?
We throw a lot of events, like in Cape Cod or at estates, and we'll go out and meet the customers. We threw an event in Georgetown this past spring at the Brooks Brothers store and we announced it on Instagram. More than 2,000 people showed up. We had lines out the door.

How do you get your interns involved?
Every summer we open up Camp Foxhawk to our fans. This year we had 3,500 applicants. We pick a few of those kids out and it doesn't matter what their background is, it's about what they can teach us. It's a trade-off of talent. They might be a great photographer or going to fashion design school or business. All of our interns come back every summer. I went to summer camp at Camp Yawgoog, where Moonrise Kingdom was filmed, and I want it to be like my experience there.

Would you ever use a selfie stick?
We've definitely posted with a selfie stick before. Whatever works. They're hilarious. We have these hover sticks now though. It's like a Segway without the pole. We've been using them for film.

How much do you stage your photos?
We like to pick places that have a lot of history. The whole company goes and we grab a couple of cameras, dress for the theme of the occasion, and go to town and have some fun. We don't like to plan the shots out ahead of time.

What's the story behind your engagement photo with your fiancé @SarahKJP?
At the Ashford Castle on New Years they have a crazy fireworks display, so I set up the camera before I proposed to her. It was literally resting on a piece of castle stone. I had it on auto-timer and as I proposed to her, I caught the moment, but the fireworks went off at the wrong time, so I put them in afterwards as a composite. It came out amazing and we used it as our announcement photo. And then it went absolutely nuts all over the Internet.

How did you guys meet?
We met while we were shopping at Ralph Lauren, of course.

Purple Undies Make for a Perfect End to Summer

Hold on to summer as it winds down by updating your underwear drawer with a pair of trendy purple underwear. Commonly thought of as the color of royalty and power, purple underwear is the perfect pop of color if your underwear wardrobe is looking a little sad and grey. It's bold without being assuming, and the more jewel-toned, the better -- in fact, we prefer the "ultra-violet" look overall.

Try the ever-classy Wood Hip Brief in Royal Purple for a clean look. It has a white waistband with the brand's name stitched in gold on the right hip.

For a more formal pair of purple underwear, try Calvin Klein's featured boxer brief with dual-tone purple, and a regal (yet sporty) sense of style.

Cocksox and 2(X)IST add orange to the mix in their purple underwear update -- and it looks fantastic, in our collective humble opinions.

Papi's Microfusion Performance Brazilian Trunk utilizes pink and flat seams for a more subtle contrast in their purple underoos. The pink stitching shows the purple underneath, and the wide waistband combines purple and pink.

What do you think of the purple underwear look? Do you own any jewel-toned pairs? Let us know!

This Is Why You're Breaking Out

$

While there are many factors that can sprout pimples far and wide across your beautiful skin, luckily all is not lost.

There are five common culprits, as explained in this below video from Buzz60, all easily beatable if you just take a few small steps:

1. Keep your phone off your face: Bacteria and oils stick to your ever-widening smartphone screens and get rubbed onto your skin, clogging up your pores when you talk into the phone. Regularly disinfect it with wipes or, better yet, opt for headphones that have a microphone to make your calls.

2. Stock up on vitamins: Studies show that vitamin D -- a nutrient only available from the sun, food or supplements -- is crucial for healthy skin. A deficiency could make you more vulnerable to infection and skin issues, so get your fix by going outside (20 to 25 minutes is all you need) or by eating more fatty fish, eggs, and vitamin D milk, of course.

3. Avoid sugar: When sugar-rich foods (or food with a high glycemic index that rapidly convert to sugar) are digested, the sugar permanently attaches to the collagen in your skin -- a process called glycation -- which can manifest itself right there on your skin.

4. & 5. Sleep more, stress less: When you don't sleep enough, you're prone to higher levels of anxiety -- and your body produces more cortisol (als0 known as the stress hormone). It breaks down your skin's collagen and produces more oil, too.

24 Women Bare Their Scars To Reveal The Beauty In Imperfections

I was only 6 years old when doctors sliced me open and removed my left kidney.

At the time, I didn't really understand what the fuss was all about. The gravity of the situation didn't hit me until my dad had to say goodbye in the surgery room. He picked me up and placed me on the cold operating table. That's when I realized he wasn't staying. The look on his face told me to be brave as he held my little hand.

Eighteen years later I still remember that look. And every time I look down at my scar, I remember to be brave.

That's what scars do. They tell a story. They remind us to keep going or to take a deep breath and rest. Scars remind us of a funny moment or a battle survived.

Women can have complex relationships with these scars and their origin stories, whether it's from falling in heels to getting a C-section and even undergoing a mastectomy.

To highlight these stories and the women who have lived them, The Huffington Post photographed 24 women and their scars. Some of the scars were nothing more than a clumsy moment, while others are life-changing experiences that turned women into warriors.

Below are 24 women, their scars and the stories behind them. Each woman proves that imperfections can truly be beautiful, but even more than being beautiful -- these scars remind us just how resilient, adaptable and strong women are.

Photos by: Damon Dahlen

The doctors told me I couldn't play sports with only one kidney.

They're kind of my "f**k you" to the male gaze.

I love my scars, they are my breasts.

I love my deep complexion, but my scars are discouraging because even for dark skin the "beauty standard" really emphasizes especially flawless skin.

They always remind me to take agency of my health.

It reminds me daily to be grateful for life.

Mostly I'm glad that this is the worst scar I have.

Every time I look at them they give me strength.

They remind me that, today, I'm alright.

I think they're totally badass and even kind of endearing.

I still remember how matter of fact he was, and how traumatized I was by the idea of losing my finger tip.

I am proud of my body... she did such a great job getting through the cancer treatment.

I guess my ambitions (and heels) were way too high that day.

It's a battle scar that represents a time in my life when I was doing something I really loved.

It was my reward for my beautiful daughter and son.

My scars don't affect the way I feel about myself at all.

It's a great reminder that imperfections are awesome.

I have a love-hate relationship with my scars.

I'm not even 30 and have two joints made of metal.

I embrace my burn fully now and think she's beautiful and intriguing and mysterious.

They remind me that adventures are not without risk and that risks are not without adventure.

I feel as if they are visible reminders of my life long physical and emotional challenges.

My scar represents a wound that is emotional as well as physical.

It was hard not to focus on it when I looked in the mirror.

It's a reminder that we can heal no matter what happens to us.
