Khloe Kardashian Thinks It's 'F**king Crazy' That She's On The Cover Of Shape

Khloe Kardashian is not one to hide her "revenge body," and judging from all the workout selfies and the cover of her book, it's clear she's pretty konfident.

But's according to the 31-year-old, that's always been the case. In the cover story for Shape magazine's newest issue, the youngest Kardashian sister admitted she's always loved her shape.

“I love my shape because I’ve earned every curve. I work hard in the gym to get it. But I also loved my shape before, when I was even curvier. I was always incredibly comfortable in my skin," she told the magazine. "Everybody else saw me in a different way, but I didn’t see myself that way."

She added, "I feel empowered and badass that I was able to accomplish everything I have."

Kardashian expressed her excitement for the spread with a cheeky tweet, a nod to everyone who considered her "the fat one" of the Kardashian family.

Despite her pride, though, Kardashian did admit that she thought the magazine could have picked a better cover photo.

(Let's be real, Khlo, you look amazing in every shot -- "simple" or not.)

The reality TV star really started getting into a fitness routine after her breakup with her husband, basketball player Lamar Odom. For her, going to the gym is like therapy.

"When Lamar and I broke up, I had all these emotions that I didn’t know what to do with. Some people suggested therapy, but instead I joined my local Equinox gym, where I’d get on an elliptical and watch bad reality TV," she explained. "As a result, I started losing weight. Once I realized I could shed some pounds that way, I began working out regularly with my trainer, Gunnar Peterson, and I made a commitment to get healthy."

These days, Kardashian says working out "takes all the anxiety away when I’m overwhelmed or stressed out."

And seeing as she's a reality star who's always on camera, Kardashian likes to keep herself looking picture-perfect at the gym. It's all about being inspired.

"When I look good at the gym, I’m inspired to do an extra squat or an extra lunge. Just because you’re going to work out, you don’t have to look like a slob," she said. "I also always wear hoop earrings; they’re like my security blanket. People laugh at me, but why not? They make me feel more dressed up. I also wear makeup when I work out [...] why should anybody else care?”

You do you, Khloe.

Beauty Mythbuster: Is Concealer the Secret to Long-Lasting Eyebrows?

$
0
0
The claim: Adding waxy concealer to your bare brows before you fill them in will actually make your made-up eyebrows last extra long. Brows are one of the most important features on your face -- seriously, having perfect eyebrows makes a huge difference in your look. After taking the time to achieve a super strong brow game, there's nothing worse than looking in the mirror to see your beautiful brows looking weak AF thanks to products that just won't stay in place. Not only is it frustrating, it's not cute. This Beauty Mythbuster aims to solve that problem.

concealereyebrow

The concept of applying concealer to your brows isn't dissimilar to using a primer before putting on your foundation -- it builds a clean base that color can live on top of and keeps the color vibrant and enduring. As an eyebrow enthusiast and firm believer in always having a strong brow game, I set out to put this beauty claim to the test.

STEP 1: APPLY WAXY CONCEALER TO YOUR BARE BROWS

concealerbrow9

The first step is to apply a rather thick, waxy concealer to your bare eyebrows. I used Maybelline Cover Stick Corrector Concealer ($5) because of its texture and stickyness (brow products would be more likely to adhere). Avoid liquid concealers for this hack, because the consistency won't provide a tacky barrier like waxy ones will. I find that those in stick formulas tend to work the best.

STEP 2: FILL IN YOUR BROWS

concealereyebrowhack2

Now, fill in your brows as you normally would. I personally think that powders and brow gels work best with a concealer primer versus pencils, but use whatever works best for the look you're after. You'll notice that the product will really hold to the concealer, so be extra careful as you fill 'em in.

WOULD WE DO THIS IRL?

browconcealerbA

Yes! You can see the difference between having bare brows (left) and filling them in (right) with a base of concealer in the photo above. As for the technique's staying power, I tried this hack in the morning, and by the time happy hour rolled around, my brows were still on fleek. I would definitely turn to this beauty hack any time I need long-lasting brows. If I know I'll be spending all day in the sun or have an extra long night ahead of me, this is the best way to achieve picture-perfect brows that are on point 100% of the time -- fact.

Prince Harry Says He Has Major Respect For His Boss, The Queen

Being a prince doesn't mean you don't have to put in a good day's work, Britain's Prince Harry says.

The 31-year-old prince served in the British Army for 10 years, but since last year, he's been a working member of the Royal Family, carrying out dozens of official engagements and doing charity work.

"I still view her more as the Queen than my grandmother," Prince Harry said in a new documentary, Elizabeth at 90, according to the latest issue of Radio Times. "You have this huge amount of respect for your boss and I always view her as my boss, but occasionally as a grandmother."

The BBC One film celebrates the Queen's upcoming 90th birthday and includes never-before-seen footage of the royals, along with exclusive interviews.

Both Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, have talked about their respect for the Queen in the past. In a 2012 interview with Katie Couric, Prince William joked he learned at an early age, "You don't mess with your grandmother."

But it seems the Queen has a more relaxed demeanor with her family outside of the public eye. "Behind closed doors, she’s our grandmother, it’s as simple as that,” Prince Harry told Couric.

Plus, the Queen has a serious soft spot for her great-grandson, Prince George. His mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, revealed that the Queen always leaves little gifts for the toddler and even lets him call her "Gan-Gan."

Kristen Stewart Ditches Her Brunette Locks For A Bleached 'Do

Gone are the days of Kristen Stewart as a brunette.

The actress has ditched her dark locks in favor of newly bleached tresses, which she debuted over the weekend at Los Angeles International Airport.

KStew, who had her hair partially covered with a black beanie, was spotted with her rumored girlfriend, Soko. There's no word yet on whether the new hair is for a role, but seeing as she's an actress, it's very possible.

The "American Ultra" star's new look is the latest in a long list of hair transformations. While promoting "Into The Wild" back in 2007, she sported a golden mane, then she went back to brunette for "Twilight." And who could forget the jet black mullet for her role as Joan Jett in "The Runaways"? Stewart also had a stint as a redhead and chopped her long hair into an edgy short style in 2014.

Speaking of that chop, Stewart told Marie Claire in 2014, "My hair was such a crutch. I looked quote, unquote 'sexy' no matter what. I could hide behind it. As soon as I didn't have all that hair, I had to let my face hang out."

"I felt more confident than I had in a really long time," she added. "And it felt really good. Maybe to most people long hair is prettier. But then what? Is your main goal in life to be desired? That's boring as f**k."

Willow Smith Nails The Origins Of Great Style

When it comes to stylish teenagers, and teenagers in general, Willow Smith is in a category all her own. At 15, she's as known for her fashion choices as she was while whipping her hair back in forth back in 2011. Her inherent personal style earned Smith her most recent gig as an ambassadress for Chanel.

Now Smith, who at times appears out of this world, is Teen Vogue's "Coolest Girl in the Galaxy" and May 2016 cover star. Clad in a tweed blazer, silk bow-tied blouse, studded choker, septum ring, dreads, and some seriously stunning eye makeup, Smith looks beautiful and badass on her first cover for the mag.

Inside, she revels in the fact that someone like her is a face of arguably the most coveted fashion brand in the world. "Being a young African-American woman with dreads, it blows my mind that I’m a Chanel ambassador. Like, how am I a Chanel ambassador? It is so beautiful," she said.

But the singer/actress/dancer/cool kid also explains that her style -- and great style in general -- comes from within. "It's really all about emulating the colors you feel inside," she declares.

"A lot of clothes are cute, but after you buy the Yeezy shoes, after you get your hair done with a weave, you're still the same person. I feel like more and more kids are starting to realize this," she said.

If that's true, they certainly have Smith in part to thank for it.

Who else loves the versatility of a plain white t-shirt? The casual cousin to the LBD, a basic white tee is a fashion staple for any woman's wardrobe. Once you find the perfect white t-shirt for your personal style, you can wear it a hundred different ways.

I reached out to a few fashion bloggers to demonstrate both the creativity and simplicity in styling a basic white t-shirt. I also came up with a few easy outfits myself! Many of these ideas can easily be tweaked with what you already have in your wardrobe at home.

A First Look At MAC's Selena Quintanilla Collection Is Finally Here

MAC Cosmetics has unveiled an image of the first lipstick from its highly anticipated collection inspired by slain Tejano star Selena Quintanilla.

The company released a sneak peek at the "Como La Flor Lipstick" in a press release and via their Instagram account on Tuesday, along with a statement from Selena's sister, Suzette, who is curating the collection:

I wanted the colours to be about her personally, what she wore on and off stage. She has been gone for 21 years already, and for this collaboration to happen, it's pretty much incredible. It just shows the love her fan base has even though she’s gone; that her music still lives on and her legacy has grown tremendously since she’s passed. It's a great honour to have M·A·C collaborate with Selena's name and her fans -- FOR her fans.

It's been nearly a year since the popular cosmetics brand first announced it'd release a makeup line inspired by the legendary Selena Quintanilla. At the time, MAC creative director James Gager hinted that the decision was made, in part, because of the passionate pleas of fans via a Change.org petition which received over 37,000 signatures.

"The talent and beauty, both physical and internal, of Selena has caused a significant and colorful impact on the world that has continued to grow during the last two decades," Gager said to People en Español when the collection was first announced in July. "We have paid attention to the passion and enthusiasm of her fans and whole-heartedly recognize that her legacy personifies MAC’s philosophy."

MAC has confirmed that the collection will be released in October, though no specific date has been given yet.

Check out the "Como La Flor Lipstick" below!

Fashion Trends I Won't Be Rocking This Spring!

2016-04-11-1460415641-5872970-23007969710_8b8736c657.jpg

After scouring magazines and websites for spring fashion trends, I have concluded that there are more than a few fashion trends I won't be rocking this spring. Here is my list of the 2016 spring fashion disasters that would make me either look fat or ridiculous, and would probably scare most children.

See-through netting

See-through netting or mesh, as it is called, allows complete transparency in an outfit. We may endeavor to achieve that in the functioning of our government but my body is not seeking that goal. I'm looking for clothes that obscure my imperfections not ones that show them all off. See-through netting is being touted as sporty mesh but I think it is more accurately called "look at my underwear mesh." And no one really wants to see me in my underwear. Really. Trust me. You probably look better in your underwear than I do. No no no to the clothes made from see-through netting for me.

Wide leg trousers with paper bag waists

Paper bag waists are created by taking yards of excess material and cinching it in with a belt or waistband. Add a generous wide leg and you have the "in" pants for spring! But not for me. This new style of pant is a great choice for women who have mile-long legs and tiny waists. But a pant with a roomy silhouette and a lot of material scrunched in at the waist would make me look like a Mack truck swaddled in miles of material, like some wacky Cristo sculpture. Especially if the roomy silhouette was actually filled up with unwanted fat. (Not talking about you. Just talking about me, here.)

Neon orange everything

Neon orange is the new color for spring clothes, according to some pundits. But as a Caucasian woman whose skin tone resembles skim milk, bright orange looks ridiculous on me. Women with darker skin tones can rock that color and other neon colors but I just look like I am at death's door with one foot in the grave and the other foot knee-deep on a tomato farm.

Pajama dressing

The new spring trend of wearing slinky satin and silk clothes that resemble pajamas from the 1950's is actually pretty funny but you won't see them on me. The boxy top and pants with the contrasting piping look really comfortable but I've never worn them, to bed or anywhere else. But if I were to wear them, I wouldn't wear them outside of the house because I would look like one of those crazy cat ladies who had lost touch with reality. Lucille Ball and some twenty-somethings may be able to get away with that look, out and about in the city, but the rest of us would need bail money if we wore them on the streets.

So I guess I will not be very fashionable at all this spring. Oh well. I can live with that. And trust me, you can live without seeing through my neon orange mesh clothes with the paper bag waist that look like pajamas. Really.

Why This Fierce Model Is OK With Being Called Fat

$

0

While both the fashion industry and society have made strides to take the negative connotations away from labels like plus-size (and in some cases they've entirely removed those labels), there is no denying that the terms are still widely used in a less-than-flattering light.

But UK-based plus-size model Olivia Campbell has her own unique perspective on the matter. For StyleLikeU's most recent installment of its "What's Underneath" project, Campbell stripped down to just her bra and underwear and talked about race and weight, pretty much destroying any stereotypes surrounding her body:

"I call myself fat all the time. I get offended when I say to people, 'I describe myself as fat' and they go, 'You're not fat, you're curvy.' And [I'm] like,' No, I'm fat.' Why is it such a bad word? Like, 'How dare you be fat and happy? How dare you be fat and having sex? How dare you be fat and getting chatted up more than me?'"

The mom of one was the victim of abuse as a child, for her weight as well as her race. She got choked up thinking about some of the more emotionally damaging experiences she has had, but credits her past with leading her to have the fierce confidence she lives her life with today.

And while she is no longer affected by name calling, she does continue to stress the importance of kindness.

"Choose to use good words. Make someone feel good rather than making someone feel bad, because you don't know how much you can damage a person by just one sentence."

When it comes to sunglasses, we know you're familiar with industry heavyweights like Ray-Ban, big-name indie brands like Warby Parker, and the big time designer labels like Tom Ford. But the search for your perfect pair of shades doesn't need to start and end with just those common go-tos. The market is chock full of just-launched brands and lesser-known labels that are crafting some of our favorite frames.

J. Crew- Irving Sunglasses

Surprisingly enough, J.Crew just launched its first-ever sunglasses collection. If you can trust anyone to make a rectangular pair of shades that don't read as dad glasses, it's them. They're pros at walking that line.
$118, available at jcrew.com.

Raen- Squire Sunglasses

2016-04-11-1460382071-789122-ScreenShot20160411at9.41.05AM.png

SALT- Wooderson

Picking the Perfect Watch

$
0
0
Following on from my previous post on picking the perfect suit, I wanted to focus more on the different accessories available to you. Whether you're suited and booted or simply want to wear a nice watch, there is a lot more to consider other than simply what material to pick. Read on for my top tips on picking a watch.

Size Matters
If the watch is too small then you might spend most of your time squinting at your arm, while if it is too big or doesn't fit under the cuff then it will look almost clown like. The general guide is to get one with a diameter of 35mm to 42mm, as well as being less than 15mm thick. You should also consider the size of your wrist in relation to the size of your watch.

Research The Brand
While the name doesn't instantly mean quality, you are much more likely to have a product for the long term if you buy it from an established company. A Rolex is almost a certainty for quality while you could also opt for a Omega at a slightly cheaper price. Which ever watch you pick, make sure to read up some reviews on the specific watch. In fact, while researching the brand, you may also want to research the online company or shop you are considering purchasing from, to ensure they have plenty of happy customers and that they will handle any complaints or issues properly. Look into the companies warranty details before purchasing anything.

Water Resistance
You might be thinking you're not heading scuba diving any time soon so this might not be important, but you may find yourself regretting not picking one with water resistance applied. Whether doing the washing up and forgetting to take it off, to a heavy downpour of rain or even a splash of coffee, non water resistant watches can be quite fragile to the effect of water. Many will offer 100 metre deep water resistance, so check before you buy.

Consider Your Clothing
Do you spend most of your week in a suit? Or are you normally casual clothed and looking for something a bit more creative? Whatever your look, you will want something that complements the rest of your clothing. You could also look to buy a separate sports watch, as these tend to be cheaper, while many modern types are available, with fitness tracking.

Pick Your Colour
Leading on from what you wear, you will also need to consider the colour of watch you want. Many people are now opting for flamboyant designs, with explosive colours, but I would normally recommend going for something more traditional (sorry, I don't mean to sound boring). This will allow you to wear the watch with anything, without it contrasting or simply looking a bit daft.
The watch I wear at the moment has a black strap, as I often wear a black belt and shoes, therefore it matches up quite well.

How Does It Feel?
The first decent watch I ever got was absolutely beautiful, but the moment I put it on, I found it pinching my arm and pulling out all my arm hairs. As you can imagine, I gave up wearing it beyond the end of the week. Whether it is the size of the strap or the type of material, it is worth trying on some watches beforehand, just to work out what feels good on you and you think you could wear long term without irritation.

There is so much more to Eve's style than the paw print tattoos on her chest.

Fast forward 10 years and Eve is now a wife and stepmother living in London. While her fashion choices are a bit more elegant, she knows how to effortlessly blend sex appeal with sophistication.

As moviegoers head to theaters on April 15 to watch Eve reprise her role as the only female barber Terri in "Barbershop: The Next Cut," we take a walk down memory lane with her shocking style evolution.

Selena Gomez Strips Down For Sultry GQ Photo Shoot

Selena Gomez has arrived.

The 23-year-old appears in the latest issue of GQ with one of her sultriest shoots yet. Unsurprisingly, she looks great.

Shot by Victor Demarchelier, Gomez goes full-on sexpot in the spread, wearing a wardrobe consisting mostly of tiny bikinis. There's also a topless photo in the bunch, for good measure.

Inside the issue, the actress and singer spoke to the magazine about growing up in the spotlight.

"I didn’t have an opportunity to figure out my life without people having an opinion every step of the way," she said.

And if you thought she had even one ounce of self-pity for herself, you stand corrected.

"I chose this. So I’m not gonna sit here and say, ‘Oh, my God, poor me, I didn’t have a normal childhood.’ I don’t give a fuck about that," she said.

Gomez's full story comes out Thursday, April 14, but in the meantime, you can see more photos from her spread on GQ.com

Confession: I Wear Glasses To Look Cooler

As I write this, there's something in my way. It's distracting me and keeping me from totally focusing on my writing, slowing me down, and obstructing my view. It's my glasses. I wear them not because they help me see better, because that would make far too much sense. No, I'm wearing them because I think they look cool. To make things worse, there's no one in the room right now. I'm completely alone, sitting, writing, and wearing glasses I don't need.

This isn't the first time I've worn glasses purely for fashion's sake, but it is the first time I've been honest about it. In middle school during spring break, with eyes closed and fingers crossed, I sprayed absurd amounts of Sun-In on my hair to look like the blond girl on the bottle. When I returned to school, I resembled Carrot Top more than Claudia Schiffer, but I still told people I had done nothing except lay out and let that big, burning star in the sky turn me into whatever it was that was on my head.

Later on, similar situations occurred with liquid face bronzer. "I'm just tan," I'd say in the middle of January, in Buffalo. (As a side note, being eccentric when you're younger gives you a lot of writing material later on and pretty much guarantees that you won't end up on Teen Mom.) Chalk it up to plain old insecurity, but I didn't grow out of this habit of lies until I felt comfortable with who I was -- which, of course, didn't happen until my 30s.

My last and final fib was halfway through dental school when I decided I should get glasses. Completely disregarding that my classmates and friends had never once seen me wearing any, I showed up one day in a pair of Burberry specs that I could not afford, but purchased anyway. I wore them for half a lecture before taking them off because they were driving me crazy. I told my peers that I was suffering from near-sightedness or far-sightedness, or some kind of sightedness that I couldn't remember, and I stated that I must check with my optometrist (who didn't exist) to figure out what was wrong.

Wearing glasses for fashion is actually a little crazy, which is why I didn't want to admit to it the first time around. It takes a special kind of person to wear a device meant to assist you with an impairment as a statement piece. It's really no different than someone wearing a knee brace as an accessory. People would ask if I had a knee injury, and because I'm doing this honesty thing now, I would say no, I'm just into knee braces. That's odd, we all agree. But, glasses are more acceptable because of the way they change your whole look.

You can switch out your clothes all you want, but you can't really replicate the way glasses can completely transform you. It's like presenting an alternate version of yourself -- a version that cares less what others think. When I wear my glasses, people often don't recognize me; they say I look completely different. What other accessory can do that?

So, I have a new pair of glasses that I spent less on than the Burberrys. And, when I picked them out, I brought the ultimate test with me: my older brother Damian. Genetically programmed to make fun of me whenever possible, he's a litmus test for how I look. I went to the Retro Super Future store in Tribeca to find my dream glasses -- that's the brand my idol Jenna Lyons wears.

I tried on a pair of Champagne-colored clear frames, and immediately, I knew I had a winner. That's the key to wearing glasses -- there should be no deliberation. If you're wearing the right pair, you instantly know it. I was further convinced by my brother who told me I had to get them. Say what? Pulse check one, two. I asked Instagram, and Instagram loved them. Like proposing to your live-in partner after 10 years of dating, glasses and I had decided to hang out together forever. Because they're clear, my new glasses are less obstructive. For someone who doesn't wear a ton of jewelry and prefers more subdued accessories, these fill a void in my wardrobe that nothing else could, so they're worth the minor annoyance of sometimes walking into walls. Maybe I don't need to wear glasses for vision's sake, but for fashion's sake, when people ask, I tell them, "Yes, I need to wear glasses." And, I'm telling the truth.

Why Bella Hadid Is Apologizing To Her Mom For Her Latest Photo Shoot

Bella Hadid has two words for her mom, Yolanda: "I'm sorry."

The model took to Instagram to apologize to her mother for an upcoming photo shoot, which, from the looks of one behind-the-scenes snapshot she posted, is going to get pretty risqué.

In the image, Hadid is seen wearing, well, very little -- aside from a pair of black panties and a sequined collar that runs all the way down her stomach.

Hadid's hands are perfectly placed over her chest to keep the image from going into NSFW territory.

Sorry mama Secret project with my dream team @nomadrj and @elizabethsulcer #BTS

A photo posted by Bella Hadid (@bellahadid) on

"Sorry mama, " Hadid writes in the caption, which explains that the photo is for a "secret project."

Hadid is keeping mum about the details behind the shoot, only revealing that it has her hooking up with her "dream team" of photographer Russell James and stylist Elizabeth Sulcer, who has worked for Vogue's Italian, Japanese, and Spanish editions.

James posted his own behind-the-scenes photo from the shoot that will possibly land Hadid in hot water with her Real Housewives of Beverly Hills mom, but didn't share any details.

The only new info that James gave fans is that it's a "personal project." Well, that and the fact that Hadid is "so damn cool" for being a part of it.

Let's just hope Hadid's mom agrees.

Fans Are Freaking Out About Kylie Jenner's New Metallic Lip Kits

Back in December, Kylie Lip Kit fans went bonkers over the idea that she might launch metallic shades after posting a (somewhat controversial) picture of dripping rose-gold lips. Well, kit fanatics, brace yourselves -- because this teaser is now becoming a very shiny reality.

The 18-year-old took to Snapchat earlier this week to reveal her lipsticks, which, she declared, are in honor of Coachella. "My new METAL MATTE LIPSTICKS for coachella dropping soon," she captioned the swatches on her Instagram page. "Left to right: Reign, King K, Heir." Reign -- which we're guessing is named after her nephew -- is a coppery shade, King K is (appropriately) a royal gold color, and Heir is reminiscent of that rose-gold hue we peeped back in December. It's a gilded trio definitely worth swooning over.

Presentation is important @kyliecosmetics metal matte lipsticks

A video posted by King Kylie (@kyliejenner) on

Kylie also showed off the packaging for the latest additions. "Presentation is important," the caption reads. Yes, yes it is. As is the surprise reveal that the youngest Jenner has now become notorious for. No word on when, exactly, these metallic bad boys are dropping -- although we guess it will be around when Coachella starts, as in THIS Friday. (And, as usual, those with her app will be the first to know.) Get your fingers ready.

Survey: What Single Online Daters Think of Trump

Will differing politics make a decision on who you select as a date or get serious with -- or even go out on a date with?

The combination of dating and politics makes a hot topic when it comes to matters of the heart this political season.

If your date hates the sound of Hillary's voice or you can't wait to see Trump run the country and he or she disagrees, would it matter in your relationship?

Online dating site PlentyOfFish decided to take political questions such as these to the digital heart by surveying over 4,000 singles in the U.S. on the intersection of love and politics, and found that women are less tolerant than men when it comes to dating someone with a different political view.

2016-04-12-1460495693-8908719-POF_ElectionSurvey.jpg

Thumbs Up or Down on Trump?'

Only 1/3 of women surveyed stated they would be open to dating someone who supports Donald Trump, which means that men are immediately losing access to 40% of their dating pool by supporting him. That's almost half of the potential single dating pool in the U.S.

Who is the Average Trump Supporter?

If you're looking to date a Trump supporter, he may be easier to find than you think.

According to POF, Male Trump supporters are predominately Caucasian, in their early 50s with a slightly higher-than-average income and slightly lower-than-average education. The study found that singles with a high school education are more than twice as likely to be a Trump supporter than more college-educated singles.

The study also found that Caucasian men who support Trump are less than half as likely to send a message to someone of a different ethnicity than non-supporters. Interesting.

Single Women Are Picky When it Comes to Politics

Twenty-five percent of survey respondents stated they won't date someone who has drastically different political views than their own. Surprisingly, male Trump supporters are more open to the idea of dating someone of a different political view, with 58% willing to date a Democrat. We assume if she's a Democrat with chemistry, the political issues will rank lower on the political totem pole for men than for women.

However, only 19% of Democrat women are willing to give a Republican a chance.

"Navigating politics in your love life can be complicated, but it's a topic many singles will have to tackle with someone they're dating, especially in the months leading up to an election," says Shannon Smith, Public Relations Communications Manager at POF. "This new data provides some great insight into how singles value political affiliations as a strong indicator for relationship compatibility and shows how polarizing politics can be."

Singles are Feeling the Bern

Among singles polled by POF, Bernie Sanders is the most favored candidate.

Over 71% of American singles plan to vote in the upcoming election, with a large portion of them identifying as Independent. The study found that only 22% of singles identify as Republican and 31% as Democrat.

How to Have "The Talk" With Your Significant Other

Talking politics with your significant other, especially early on in your relationship, can be a touchy subject. "Approach this conversation with caution, and always be respectful of the other person's views - no matter how different they are than your own," says Smith. "We've seen couples overcome much greater obstacles than dating across the aisle!"

In this year's Singles In America study published by Match it was proven that talking about politics increases your chances of a second date by 91%, so don't be shy. Watch the debates together and be open to the possibilities of another opinion posed by your date. Plus, couples passionate about politics are known to have better sex lives.

Does Wearing A Hat Make You Go Bald?

$

While researching for a story, we came across a very frightening statement made by GQ in their explainer on hair loss.

In an article titled "Everything You Need To Know About Your Thinning Hair," Liza Corsillo lists likely ways in which a man can lose his hair, explaining that wearing a hat is "the worst problem."

"Guys that are wearing a hat all the time are creating their own male pattern baldness. They're not allowing the sweat glands to breathe, and they're clogging the follicles, which prevents hair growth. You need oxygen in order to produce the oils that help your hair grow."

"Gasp," we said, flinging our baseball hats across the newsroom and e-mailing our expert, Dr. AlanBauman, a board-certified hair restoration physician. Thankfully, he assured us that this myth is far from the truth.

"Wow, a 1970s flashback!" he wrote back. "Sorry for being blunt, but this statement is completely, 100-percent bogus and false in so many ways. It is a great example of the myths associated with hair follicles and male pattern hair loss that continue to be perpetuated by the uneducated."

Androgenic alopecia (or male pattern hair loss), he explained, is caused by the "progressive miniaturization of hair follicles that are sensitive to the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a breakdown product of the male hormone testosterone."

This miniaturization is hereditary and can start to happen at any time after puberty.

"Under the influence of DHT, the follicles which are sensitive to it start to miniaturize, producing progressively thinner, shorter and less pigmented hair over time, resulting in a loss of coverage in a highly-recognizable pattern: recession of the frontal/temporal hairline and baldness in the crown/vertex areas," Bauman said. Eventually, the follicles stop producing hair altogether."

In fact, this myth has been debunked online for years. "Your baseball cap would have to be on your scalp so tight that you couldn't wear it in order for it to cause any type of traction or damage," according to Men's Journal.

The U.S. News & World Report says hats don't cause any harm, but points out that a dirty hat can lead to a scalp infection.

And if you're worried about traction alopecia, or what happens when you exert repeated and severe stress on your hair follicles (by tight pony tails or braids, for example), LiveScience says that hats don't provide enough pressure for that to happen.

Sorry GQ, while you often get things right about how to live well and dress sharply, you were wrong about this one -- guys should wear that hat proudly. They won't make you bald.

In fact, as Bauman said, many people who experience hair loss "turn to wearing hats because they like the way it reframes their face in a youthful way, reminding them of how they used to look before their hairline receded. When they look in the mirror, facial proportions look similar to the frame of their youthful hairline."
