Author Roald Dahl once said, “a little magic can take you a long way.” Fittingly, these clothes inspired by the author’s stories are pure magic.

British clothing brand Boden has brought the beloved characters and stories from Roald Dahl’s iconic books to life. In partnership with Dahl’s literary estate, they’ve created a children’s clothing line that is delightful and whimsical.

Pieces inspired by James and the Giant PeachFantastic Mr. Fox, The TwitsMatilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and The BFG all make appearances in the line.

This year is the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl’s birthday and the 25th anniversary of the clothing company — so the collaboration is “a celebration of both parties.”

So, what does this quirky collection look like? Here are some of our favorite pieces:

These James and the Giant Peach tops.

This incredible Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Golden Ticket sweatshirt with color-changing sequins.

This Mr. Twit sweater that’s grumpy and great.

We're Stumped Why Anyone Would Arrest This Man Dressed As A Tree

Won’t someone leaf this guy alone?

Police in Portland, Maine, arrested a man on Monday for blocking traffic ― while dressed as a tree.

Asher Woodworth was charged with obstructing a public way after he was spotted standing in the middle of an intersection covered in tree limbs, according to WMPW.

Witnesses said the 30-year-old Woodworth slowly crossed the streets and blocked traffic before police stopped him.

Officers warned Woodworth to stay out of the intersection while lifting branches off his face to get a better look at the tree-shaded suspect.

When Woodworth refused to speak, one of the officers told him, “I’ll accept your silence as you understand,” according to the Portland Press Herald.

The officers told him he was free to go as long as he stayed out of the roads, but Woodworth allegedly wandered back into traffic after they walked away.

That’s when he was arrested.

Woodworth’s alleged motive may have you stumped.

Police said he told them he wanted “see how people would react to his performance” and how it would “impact people’s natural choreography,” according to WTHR.com.

Woodworth was taken to the Cumberland County Jail where he posed for this mugshot sans tree branches.

A guy dressed as a tree blocking traffic sounds weird, but Assistant Police Chief Vern Malloch seems almost used to it, based on comments he made to PressHerald.com.

“It happens from time to time. People do bizarre things because they want to get arrested,” he said. “We’re still not sure if he was trying to make a statement.”

Woodworth was released from jail Monday evening after posting $60 bail.

14 Beautiful Black Queens Worth Emulating This Halloween

$

0

The reign of black girl excellence that has defined 2016 for us is something worth paying homage to this Halloween.

Whether you identify with Slayoncé or Issa Rae, we’ve compiled the iconic looks of celebrities that have had us beaming with black lady pride.

Disclaimer: Recreating the looks of the phenomenal women on this list does not justify wearing blackface. Carry on.

1. Michelle Obama

Who wouldn’t want to be the most powerful black woman in America? Known for baring her enviably well-toned arms, Michelle Obama always achieves the perfect blend of classy and contemporary style.

Her ridiculously stunning gown from the final state dinner on Oct. 18 had all the internet abuzz. In order to imitate FLOTUS’ state dinner swag, you’ll need a sleeveless copper evening gown, your best wash and press with a side bang and a Barack Obama by your side (your bae in a black tux will do).

2. Serena Williams

@beyonce

A photo posted by Serena Williams (@serenawilliams) on

We hardly see Serena Williams outside of the context of her impeccable athleticism, which may be why seeing a twerk-some Serena in “Lemonade” was the most “yasss”-inducing moment of the album’s celeb appearances. You can get on fleek like Serena did in the music video for “Sorry” with a short black jumpsuit with lace cuff bracelets and black heels.

If your bestie wants to play Queen Bey, she’ll need a black sheer romperblack high heeled boots and a blonde wig if you both really want to get in formation.

3. Janelle Monáe

A photo posted by Janelle Monáe (@janellemonae) on

Janelle Monáe is always dressed to the nines. A tuxedo with black-and-white color patterns are usually a must for the singer, and we will alway love her pompadour.

The above effort can be made with a bun piece positioned at the front of your head, black tie (or bowtie), white blouse, black suit and black-and-white brogue oxfords

4. Issa Rae

Table reading! #InsecureHBO

A photo posted by Issa Rae (@issarae) on

Issa Rae is an “awkward” goddess who’s giving a voice to the unconventional black girls everywhere through her new HBO series “Insecure.” Her quirky and fun style is exemplified in the photo above from a table reading for the show.

To achieve this look, you’ll need a button-up blouse, retro glasses, a pair of jeans, converses and any other accessories that’ll amp up that “awk” appeal.

5. Simone Biles

Simone Biles is only 19-years-old and just 4’9” but she probably has a helluva lot more upper body strength than most people, and her three Olympic gold medals can attest to it.

If you want to further revel in Biles’ absolute slayage at this year’s Rio Olympics then you can sport her gold medal-winning look from the pic above by wearing a track jacket, track pants, three fake gold medals (to represent the full number of Olympic gold medals she won in Rio), glitter eyeshadow and a ponytail.

6. Solange

If you found yourself embracing your melanin with a sense of overwhelming pride after listening to “A Seat At The Table,” how could you not bask in the joy of imitating Solange?

While there are several superbly afrocentric Solange styles you could imitate, we chose one of the simplistic looks from her iconic “Cranes In The Sky” music video (above). To recreate the look, you’ll need one shoulder purple dress and a wavy black wig, which no one will be allowed to touch. For an additional “Don’t Touch My Hair” effect, ditch the wig, braid up your hair and add lots of earth-toned beads.

7. Cardi B

With her carefree attitude and distinct voice, VH1’s “Love and Hip Hop: New York” cast member Cardi B (left) is far from the “regular shmegular girl.”

Cardi’s outfits are almost as unpredictable as what she’ll say next, but her love for flaunting her curvy figure and baring skin is consistent. To imitate her look above after Laquan Smith’s show during NYC Fashion Week, you’ll need a black bandeau, a black lace maxi skirt, a black chokerstrappy black heels and a black wig with a bang.

8. Leslie Jones

Me & MY Twin So Cool Styled BY: @bmcstylez Shirt: @nyandcompany Pants: @hm Shoes: @vincecamuto

A photo posted by Leslie Jones (@lesdogggg) on

Even if you’re not a “Ghostbusters” fan, the racist bullying Leslie Jones was forced to overcome on Twitter this year is reason enough to want to show solidarity with the actress. You can rock her “ghostbusting” look, which Madame Tussauds Wax Museum has paid tribute to in the pic above, with khaki coveralls, black snow boots, long black gloves and a gray backpack

To rock Jones’ more classy everyday look (right) as she proudly poses alongside her character’s wax reincarnation, you’ll need a black sequined sleeveless top, black skinny pants, black heels and some hair gel contoured to Jones’ hairstyle to solidify the look.

9. Rihanna

#ANTI

A photo posted by badgalriri (@badgalriri) on

Rihanna, who doubles as a singing and fashion icon, is always rocking something sexy, risqué and edgy. And with so many badass looks, it can be hard to choose which Rihanna style you most want to imitate this year.

Since we’re just as indecisive, we went with her standout gothic look from her “ANTI” album. To pull it off, put about 15 chunky braids in your hair, then grab a mid-length black blazer, a collared white blouse,  and a black clip on tie. Don’t forget to pencil on some super thick brows, to complete the look.

10. Misty Copeland

#AmericanBeauty #ClaiborneSwanson Photography

A photo posted by Misty Copeland (@mistyonpointe) on

Misty Copeland became the first black woman to serve as a principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre last year. And, yes, we’re still shamelessly in awe of the ballerina and all her talent. To recreate the iconic ballerina look seen in her Claiborne Swanson photoshoot above, you’ll need a black or pink leotard (or tank top), a tutu, leg warmers and ballet shoes

Disclaimer: The tutu will not magically engender flexibility.

11. Amandla Stenberg

Amandla Stenberg is the living embodiment of a young and woke revolutionary. As a result, the 17-year-old was presented with the Young, Black and Gifted Award at the Black Girls Rock! ceremony in April where she wore the retro style in the photo above.

Stuntin’ like Stenberg will require a dark orange blazer, dark orange pants, black round toe shoesmustard yellow blouse, and your nicest natural look or a curly fro wig.

12. Lupita Nyong’o

Feels like yesterday that I read the script for #QueenOfKatwe, a dream to be at our premiere last night!

A photo posted by Lupita Nyong'o (@lupitanyongo) on

The Academy Award winning Lupita Nyong’o constantly exemplifies the best of black beauty by embracing her natural essence.

To pull off the look above, which was recently taken from “Queen of Katwe” premiere, you’ll need a long purple halter dress, a purple headwrap and high heels.

13. Miss USA Deshauna Barber

Deshauna Barber made history when she became the first Miss USA in June to actively serve in the military. Aside from all the praiseworthiness that comes with her title, Barber’s also proof of what happens when you don’t allow haters to stunt your growth.

To mimic her look from the pic above at the Walter Reed National Military Center, you’ll need a long white gown, tiara, and a Miss USA sash (or a Miss District of Columbia sash if you’re looking to throw in some DMV representation).

14. Beyoncé

The above picture clearly isn’t that of your average diva, so explaining Beyoncé’s queendom would be absurd.

With Blue Ivy in tow, the iconic songstress stunned ― per usual ― during her 2016 MTV VMA entrance, pictured above. For an attempt at imitating this Bey look, you’ll need to wear a blue evening gown with a blue feather neck piece and, then, pull your hair back into a single braid. If you have a Blue Ivy of your own, you can dress her in a brown tutu dress and look like the most powerful mother-toddler duo in America.

Dad Combats Harmful Stereotypes About Fatherhood With Empowering Shirts

A new line of shirts for dads is offering a refreshing perspective on fatherhood.

This month, dad and Huffington Post blogger Mike Reynolds launched a line of T-shirts and sweatshirts featuring phrases that combat harmful stereotypes about masculinity and fatherhood. The messages on the shirts, which are for sale on his website, include, “Dad who cries when Bing Bong dies,” “Strength has no gender” and “Not my body, not my choice.”

Reynolds told HuffPost he was inspired to create the product line after noticing shirts that read “Dads Against Daughters Dating” gaining traction on social media a couple of years ago.

The dad said he was struck, not only by the shirt but also the many positive responses to it. “I wondered why so many people thought that the best relationship a dad could have with his daughter was one where he treated her like a possession,” he explained.

Reynolds has two daughters, 6-year-old Leah and 4-year-old Charlotte. He believes the message of the “Dads Against Daughters Dating” shirt is not representative of his relationship with his daughters.

“We do science projects together, we make up bedtime stories about giants who play hopscotch, and we talk our bodies, how they are changing, and about anything they’d like to ask me,” he said, adding, “I think this is a relationship a lot of dads have with their daughters but they’re told they should be protecting their daughters with their physical strength instead of building trusting relationships with them.”

Reynolds wants to redefine what masculinity means, to show boys growing up today that there is no one “right” way to be a man. Whether you fix cars or paint your nails, whether you cry watching movies or don’t shed a tear, whether you dress up as a princess or a superhero for Halloween, anyone who identifies as male is “doing it right,” he explained.

Reynolds believes the messages of his shirts are particularly important at this time in our society. “When you see some of the discussions that have taken place during the recent United States election cycle, you get a better idea of just how prevalent rape culture is,” he said.

“You see people explain away sexual harassment with ‘it was just a joke’ and it is infuriating,” he added. “When you have hundreds of thousands of women sharing their stories of how they’ve been impacted by rape culture, you better think long and hard about how you can help change this as a man and as a dad.”

The dad told HuffPost he’s hoping to donate some of the profits from the shirts to organizations like White Ribbon, which works to end men’s violence against women. He also plans to add more messages to the T-shirt line as he thinks of them.

“I want dads, and really, all men, to feel comfortable showing everyone that their version of masculinity is perfect ― that they aren’t less of a man because they don’t want to fight the people their daughters might choose to date,” Reynolds explained. “I want people to show other men that words aren’t ‘just words’―-that talk about sexual assault isn’t funny.”

The dad especially wants men to stand up to those who still believe the “daughter-as-possession mindset” is appropriate or funny.

“Men need to challenge other men when their ideas on raising kids and on being a man are in conflict with respecting women and with raising young girls ― as well as boys ― to be comfortable being who they want to be,” Reynolds said. “A T-shirt is a pretty straightforward way to do it.”

The Clothes You're Wearing May Have Been Illegally Made By Syrian Refugees

Syrian refugees in Turkey are being exploited by factories that supply popular western clothing chains, according to an explosive investigation broadcast Monday.

The BBC’s “Panorama,” an investigative TV show, went undercover in Turkish factories where they found children illegally sewing garments for British retailer Marks & Spencer as well as Asos, an e-commerce site. They found adult refugees making clothing for Zara and Mango.

Since most refugees can’t legally work in Turkey, those in the report had been employed through a middleman who paid them ― often less than $1 per day ― in cash, the report added.

The youngest refugee worker, a 15-year-old boy, worked more than 12 hours a day ironing clothes. Other tasks included refugees spraying hazardous chemicals without any face masks.

The brands mentioned in the report denied the claims.

“All the brands say they carefully monitor their supply chains and do not tolerate the exploitation of refugees or children,” the BBC report said.

“We had previously found no evidence of Syrian workers employed in factories that supply us, so we were very disappointed by these findings, which are extremely serious and are unacceptable,” a Marks & Spencer spokesperson told The Huffington Post.

The company said it won’t tolerate unethical practices and is working to offer permanent legal employment to all Syrian workers in its factories.

Mango, meanwhile, said in a statement that the factory implicated in the report, Goreteks Tekstill, was actually sub-contracted unknowingly.

“Under no circumstances was the use of child labor or Syrian workers detected” after performing an audit of the factory, the statement said, adding that Mango is investigating the claims.

Currently, almost 3 million Syrian refugees live in Turkey, according to U.N. Refugee Agency data. The ongoing conflict in Syria has forced many to flee for border countries where making a living is often virtually impossible. Turkey is in the process of building a cement wall along its entire border with Syria to stem the refugee inflow.

This Girl Was Bullied For Her Skin Color. Now She's A Badass Model.

Bullies, be gone.

Khoudia Diop is a 19-year-old from Senegal who has faced bullying throughout her life simply because of the color of her skin.

“I was picked on by other kids, when I was a bit younger because [of the darkness] of my skin tone,” she told The Huffington Post. “But this is something that is actually quite normal in Senegal. It’s not a nice feeling and I’ve had to learn to love myself more every day and tune out the negativity, which helps a lot!”

(A 2015 survey revealed between 52 and 67 percent of Senegalese women use skin lightening products, Quartz previously reported.)

Diop’s story of overcoming bullying and rising to success touched thousands. She’s now aspiring to be a model and is also working with The Colored Girl, Inc., a group that promotes self-love and celebrates women of all backgrounds.

She’s also amassed an Instagram fanbase of over 200,000 and shares words of wisdom and empowerment with her followers.

“We have lots of new offers and amazing projects in the works and I’m excited for the future!” she told HuffPost. “I’m currently also enrolled in school, full time. So I’m pursuing my degree and am going to continue modeling as well.”

This summer, she made a stunning appearance in The Colored Girl’s The Colored Girl: Rebirth campaign

Diop turns the other way from those who try to tear her down and hurt her with cruel words.

“I’ve learned to ignore the negative people and just be a living example of confidence and self-love. I let my life, and success, speak for itself,” she said.

Preschooler Pays Tribute To Pop Culture With Daily Halloween Costumes

For 4-year-old Willow, October is all about the costumes.

With help from her mom, photographer Gina Lee, Willow dresses up every day of the month leading up to Halloween. It’s an annual tradition they call “Dress Up Willow Month.”

Willow’s mom told HuffPost that the costumes are mostly DIY, made with felt, a glue gun and random items lying around the house. Lee said they reuse many of the costumes by turning them inside out or adding different dyes ― though they also purchase a few items, like wigs on sale or dollar store props.

They try to create costumes that are relevant to current events and pop culture, like the man who scaled Trump Tower this summer or their tribute to James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke.” HGTV’s Joanna Gaines even reposted Willow’s “Fixer Upper” costume, which was very exciting for the mother-daughter duo.

Lee said Willow loves dressing up, especially when dresses, tutus and tiaras are involved. This year, her BFF Cooper is involved in several of the costumes, which also makes the experience especially fun.

“I hope she will keep doing dress up, but just as long as she is having fun,” Lee told HuffPost. “If she is not, then we will stop ... but so far, she loves it, especially when she does it with her friends.”

As for Willow’s final costume for Halloween night ... we’ll have to stay tuned!

Keep scrolling and visit Lee’s Instagram to see Willow’s magnificent costumes, and check out previous years’ editions here and here.

Suiting Up For Conference Season

$

The shops are flooded with Halloween merchandise, that dreaded clothing store has already put on the Christmas tunes, but Mid October means one thing to me -- It's the start of conference season!

Over the next two months, I will be talking at 3 conferences, while I should be attending 20, plus 4 round-tables.

This is also the point where I look at my wardrobe and realise nothing fits anymore. I'll be living out of suits for the next 8 weeks, therefore its shopping time (this really shouldn't make me so happy). I therefore thought it would be interesting to share my new wardrobe for the next few months (or massive wallet destroyer, if you prefer).

The Suits
I'm a little addicted to the gym, however with the constant 'cutting and bulking' process I'm going through, this leaves my suits in an annoying position of either feeling too large or too small. I guess I have no choice but to go out and buy another four suits (don't judge me).

I decided on two blue suits (my favourite colour), a black and a grey one. I've slowly moved away from black suits, as it is very easy to inadvertently look like a limo driver or a funeral attendee.

I bought them all online at Dobell's, as they had a great sale on and it already looks like I'm going to be breaking the bank this month. I also got a bowtie from Dobell's; sure I didn't need it, but I've never owned one and it felt like the right time. Admittedly, I always thought my first one would be a spinning bowtie, but that one will have to wait...for now.

2016-10-18-1476807938-7875953-14632623_1185910418147102_1520237855_o.jpg
Yep, I apologise for the picture, but I have a tendency to pull a stupid face the moment the camera goes off!

Shirt
I already had about 5 nice shirts, however I wanted to buy another 5, so I could loop them on a weekly basis (just enough time to wash and dry them).

I bought three shirts from Debenham's, not somewhere I think I've ever been before, but they had a great deal going on (thanks Seb for the recommendation). I had a prior image of this department store as somewhere only visited by middle class old men on the hunt for some slippers, but the clothes available were actually really nice, hats off where it's due!

I then decided to buy a couple of really nice shirts, so I was then led to We Are Gntlmen. There penny farthing logo added a traditional and classy style, while the brown buttons clashed nicely with the white of the shirt. I was instantly sold!

2016-10-18-1476808008-4992195-IMG_3224.JPG

Shoes
I did own some black shoes already, which worked quite well with the grey suit, however they didn't look very good with blue. I therefore began frantically searching through Google for what shoes would work best with a blue suit.

Two colours which stood out to me were brown and blue, so I set about hunting down some nice brogues. Lo and behold, Justin Reece entered my life. I got some Pedro Navy blue shoes, which perfectly linked up with the colour of the trousers.

2016-10-18-1476808048-95895-IMG_3227.JPG

Watch
The next accessory on the list was a nice watch. My Pokemon watch amused me, but it felt like the right time to put this in the 'casual dress code' pile. I haven't actually bought a watch since I was around 23 years old (6 years ago for people who don't know my age). I was therefore a bit clueless where to start. I went down to a watch store in Brighton, but the prices were around £200+, which seemed ridiculous.

I wanted something nice, but didn't want to break the bank (a continued trend through this piece), which led me to a great black and golden watch I ordered through Lord Time Pieces. I haven't stopped staring at it since I got this, it is mesmerising!

2016-10-18-1476808091-284310-IMG_3209.JPG

The Final Bill
The final cost of all these items was £600. It's a hefty investment, but how can you put a price on looking and feeling great (well, I just did, but ignore that). It's all a psychological confidence booster, as I get terrible stage fright, but it also helps to make a strong impression on the people around me (the power of the suit is immense).

So wish me luck, my first big talk will be on the 26th October, yikes!

Sarah Ferguson Says This Royal Family Member Still Makes Her Nervous

$

Twenty years have passed since Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew divorced. But after all these years, there’s still one member of the royal family Fergie finds intimidating: Her former mother-in-law Queen Elizabeth II. (Hey, who wouldn’t be a little nervous in the queen’s presence? The woman is fierce.)

“I always get really nervous before meeting the boss,” Fergie said during an interview on KIIS FM in Sydney, Australia.

The 57-year-old Duchess of York was quick to clarify that her former MIL always puts her at ease.

“Oh, of course, she’s brilliant,” she said. “She makes you feel comfortable within the first five seconds.”

Though Fergie’s 1996 divorce from Prince Andrew was a messy one (the tabloids accused Fergie of cheating, with lurid pictures as proof), the exes have maintained a close bond since the split. As recently as 2015, they lived together at Prince Andrew’s home at the Royal Lodge and both remain a strong presence in the lives of their daughters, Beatrice, 28 and Eugenie, 26.

As any devoted royal follower can tell you, there have been been rumors of a possible reconciliation for the pair for years. When the KIIS FM hosts asked Fergie if she’d ever get back together with Andrew, she gave a rather cryptic response.

“Well, I always think ― we’re divorced to each other right now...so we never really left each other,” she said.

Fergie has addressed the remarriage rumors before. While promoting her latest children’s book at the Bath Children’s Literature Festival in 2013, the duchess responded to questions about a possible reconciliation.

“[Andrew’s] still my handsome prince, he’ll always be my handsome prince,” she said. “It’s lovely that we are such a family and the story has a happy ending all the time.”

OK, we’re really pulling for a royal reconciliation now.

This $3 Lipstick Has A Secret And Everyone's Freaking Out About It

Prepare yourself: You’re going to want one of these in every single color.

We’ve been in love with E.L.F. cosmetics for awhile. Their products are great quality and often cost even less than our favorite drugstore makeup.

E.L.F’s moisturizing lipsticks are a fabulous hydrating lip pigment with a twist ― there’s a secret compartment at the bottom.

The bottom of the lipsticks twists off to reveal a hidden sample that makes it easier for buyers to color match, according to Refinery29.

Everyday lipstick users like us had no idea these babies had a trap door, and apparently Twitter didn’t either. Twitter user @spoopykitten discovered the twist-off sample and, in her incredulousness, tweeted out what she thought she found:

In no time, other tweeters started responding with their own shock at the find.

This wasn’t the only mind-blowing moment with this Twitter conversation. Twitter user @radicalkatelyn also pointed out that E.L.F’s matte lip pencils have a twist-off bottom that acts as a sharpener.

Which user @dadtrash responded to, with a photo of both multitasking products.

Oh man, keep the surprises comin’, E.L.F. You guys are great.

These Delicate Embroidered Collars Are Worthy Of Any Badass Professional Woman

$

Being a modern professional woman is freaking hard. We lean in, we work long hours, and we do it all while making 79 cents for every dollar a man earns. And we may not see equal pay for 170 years. Women are less likely to receive a promotion than men, and women of color face the hardest climb to executive positions. When we ask for a raise, we’re “pushy” or “too aggressive.” When we stay silent, we watch as less qualified people scuttle up the corporate ladder.

As the saying goes: If you can’t beat ‘em, register your displeasure with pointed collar embroidery.

While most of us probably can’t get away with wearing these at the office, that doesn’t mean we can’t rock them after hours. Etsy shops WTFembroidery and CollarMePrettyCo have created some fabulous fake collars and collared blouses that complete your wardrobe and express your true feelings.

If you’re in the market for a sassy collar to pop, check out the designs below.

We Tried The Shampoo Kim Kardashian Uses, And Here's What Happened

After reading recently that Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner both swear by Finesse shampoo, we couldn’t resist the urge to see what all the fuss is about.

For those who are unfamiliar, Finesse shampoo, as fancy as it sounds, is none other than the $3.79 shampoo you can find at your local drugstore. That’s right. Major plot twist. The Kardashian-Jenner gang uses cheap shampoo like the rest of us plebeians.

Here’s our hard-hitting report after using Finesse shampoo and conditioner for a week. Brace yourselves, the results may surprise you.

Minou, Associate Editor

I usually use Pantene Pro-V, so fancy shampoo is clearly not a priority of mine. I like to think that I have relatively average, straight hair so I never feel the need to really overthink what brand I should be using. But after a week using Finesse (the Moisturizing line), I can definitely say I don’t understand why it’s getting so much praise. The shampoo’s consistency was more watery than I expected, and the conditioner was just like any other run-of-the-mill brand.

One thing worth noting to those of you with fine hair like me: Finesse definitely has the word “fine” in it for a reason. My hair felt even thinner after a week using this stuff. Needless to say, Finesse definitely didn’t transform my locks to superstar Kardashian tresses, so I’ll be switching back to my Pantene hair routine. The gorgeous, glossy celebrity hair that Kim and Kendall have must be a result of amazing hair products and hairstylists. There’s no way Finesse is making that magic happen.

Abby, Associate Editor

I am one of millions of lucky Americans blessed with scalp psoriasis, so I usually shampoo with Neutrogena T/Gel. One of the main ingredients in T/Gel products is coal tar extract, which means my hair usually smells like a highway repaving project. It was nice to trade in my acrid shampoo for Finesse’s more pleasant aroma. Minou and I both used Moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.

As Minou mentioned, Finesse shampoo is extremely runny ― the conditioner slightly less so. I have to admit, the shampoo did leave my hair feeling very silky. But when I used the conditioner, my hair felt dry and brittle in the shower. I usually expect my hair to feel moisturized and slick, post-conditioning treatment. Nevertheless, when I ran a brush through my wet hair, it glided through with zero snags.

Post blow-dry my hair still felt soft, but it didn’t have the shine I’d expect from a Kardashian-approved product. Overall, I’d have to give the product a B. It’s a solid option when you’re operating on a budget, and it comes in massive bottles that will last you until the end of days. But I wouldn’t bet that Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner owe their glossy tresses to Finesse alone.

Our thoughts on Finesse? In a word: meh. It’s not a bad product, but it’s nothing special. If you want Kardashian quality hair, you might just have to hit up Jen Atkin

Japanese-American Women Try On Geisha Costumes, Conclude It's A 'Motherf**king Disgrace'

Of all the strange, racist and downright nonsensical sexy Halloween costumes, the “Sexy Geisha” has to be one of the most offensive.

Right up there with “Sexy Indian” and “Sexy Eskimo,” the ever-popular geisha costume manages to hypersexualize Japanese women while confusing Asian identity altogether ― all in one mini-skirted, cleavage-exposing costume. Chopsticks included.

That’s why now is the perfect time to revisit BuzzFeed’s 2015 video of Japanese-American women trying on geisha costumes and remember why the costume is so offensive.

“It’s not super uncomfortable except for everything about how it makes me feel,” Jen Ruggirello, a Japanese BuzzFeed staffer, says in the above video while wearing a “Geisha with the Dragon Tattoo” costume.

As the video reminds us, the geisha is an ancient Japanese profession dating back to the 18th century. They are traditionally Japanese women (and sometimes men) who have been professionally trained in performance arts, traditional tea ceremonies and the art of entertaining guests.

The striking makeup ― painted white faces with pops of red ― and modest yet extravagantly-colored garb are keystones of this ancient profession. And contrary to popular belief, being a geisha is not all about sex.

“The whole intrigue of a geisha is that she’s conservative,” a woman explained in the video, while pointing to the sultry “geisha” featured on her costume bag.

She later added: “People don’t put chopsticks in their hair in Japan. Chopsticks are for eating.”

While Japanese American costume-makers would have you thinking all geisha wear thigh-high stockings, mini skirts with a high slit for extra exposure and an excessively plunging neckline. Not to mention the Asian symbols and imagery are usually flat-out wrong.

Red dragons and the Mandarin-style collar (which is turned into a sexy choker), as seen in the video above, are traditionally Chinese. And chopsticks are used for eating in Japan, not for securing your hair in a bun.

“To treat a character like Batman or Superman as a Halloween costume is one thing, but to treat an entire ethnicity as a costume is something else,” Jelani Cobb, professor of Africana studies at Rutgers University said of cultural appropriation in a 2011 interview with CNN.

“If you want to be sexy on Halloween, there are so many ways you can be sexy without disparaging another person’s culture,” Ruggirello says in the above video.

But when it comes to a costume that combines a confusing mix of Asian cultures with hypersexualization, just say no.

FYI, You Should Actually Be Putting Perfume In Your Belly Button

If you love to spritz on a signature scent, we have bad news for you: you’ve been doing it wrong.

You probably know to put perfume on your neck and wrists. That’s because these spots are known as “pulse points,” or areas where you can feel a heartbeat on your body. Body heat emanating from pulse points can intensify a fragrance. But there are several other points on your body that you’re probably missing. First up? Your belly button.

Experts say your belly button is a prime location for fragrance. Its shape serves as a natural repository for scent, and your body heat will allow the scent to radiate. Celebs like Liv Tyler and Adriana Lima swear by this trick.

“I put little drops on my fingers and put some under my arms and in my belly button,” Tyler told Into The Gloss. “My dad taught me that—if you put it where you heat up, the smell stays with you.”

You can also apply perfume inside your elbows and behind your knees for a longer-lasting scent. Since your knees and elbows are constantly moving throughout the day, they generate a lot of heat. If you’re looking for an extra boost, try spraying a brush with perfume and running it through your hair. Your fragrance will cling to the strands.

And a final hot tip? Don’t rub your perfume in after you spray it. You may be used to rubbing your wrists together, but you should actually let the perfume dry on its own. The perfume’s top notes, or the scents you smell initially upon spraying, break down more quickly as you rub.

If you’re going to spend hundreds of dollars on a bottle of high-quality perfume, you should really make the most of it. Just a few strategically-placed dabs will have you smelling good all day.

Hillary Clinton Jokes About Her 'Death Row Records' Fashion Inspiration

Politicians do a lot to engage our nation’s youth. They join Snapchat. They appear in viral videos. They even troll people on Twitter. Hillary Clinton’s latest attempt at engaging young voters is pretty epic

Clinton appeared on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club Wednesday to chat about a whole bunch of things. Most importantly, she addressed the hilarious, now-famous meme that suggests she drew debate style inspiration from the likes of Tupac, Suge Knight and Snoop Dogg ― all Death Row Records artists.

After asking if she ever looks at the memes made about her, co-host Charlamagne Tha God proceeded to show Clinton the fashion commentary that compared her to iconic rappers. “Was that on purpose? Are you a fan of Death Row Records?” he asked.

“I think Death Row and a lot of other fashion sources have influenced my look, don’t you?” she answered with a big, hearty laugh. While obviously a joke, she earned some serious points with that response. Plus, the similarities are pretty uncanny. Just look at them in the video player above.

Can you say #goals?

7-Year-Old Girl Brings Down The House With Dance Moves

A second grader in Georgia is showing the internet how to dominate a dance floor.

Last week, Titra Lampley posted a Facebook video that shows her 7-year-old daughter, Ja’miyla Barber, dancing at the Lithia Springs Elementary School Halloween dance. As she busts a move to “Juju on That Beat (TZ Anthem)” while dressed as Wonder Woman, it’s clear that Ja’miyla is stealing the show.

“Y’all know she turnt the dance up,” Lampley wrote in the caption for the video, which has reached over 210,000 views.

Ja’miyla’s mom told The Huffington Post she did not expect the video to go viral. “I always post videos of her dancing for my friends and family to enjoy,” she said.

Lampley added that Ja’miyla’s dream is to dance and act. “She’s been dancing since she was 1,” the mom explained. Though other kids have bullied her for her small size, Ja’miyla won’t let anyone stop her from pursuing her dreams.

Lampley said she hopes the video “lets every kid in the world know that you can enjoy yourself.”

She added, “You can hold your head high and be you, no matter what.”
