'Pretty Little Liars' Cast Gets Matching Ink, Celebrates Freedom From Plot Holes And Red Herrings

After wrapping production on the series finale this week, the cast of “Pretty Little Liars,” celebrated the end of the show’s countless plot holes, red herrings and a creepy student-teacher relationship that should never have been romanticized.

Hmm, maybe that’s just us. We can’t say for sure if that’s what the cast was celebrating, but they did get (thematically) matching tattoos after heading over to the Shamrock Social Club in Hollywood on Friday. Co-stars Lucy Hale, Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell, Troian Bellisario, Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish had the first letter of their characters’ names inked on their index fingers.

And, naturally, the ladies shared photos of their new tattoos while striking their famous pose.

Shhhhh forevaaaa!

With Season 7 filmed and in the can, fans can only hope they will finally get all the answers they’ve been waiting for patiently all these years. Though 10 episodes doesn’t seem like enough space to tie up all the lose ends, the series finale will be followed up by a tell-all special that might shine a light on any mysteries left unsolved.

“Pretty Little Liars” Season 7 is set to premiere in April 2017

Have Your Way With Gray

2016-10-28-1477682888-7206849-app_trend_main_grey.jpg

This fall, we've taken a serious liking to gray in all of its mysteriously seductive shades, from the darker hues of smoke, charcoal and pewter to its silver, dove gray and pale-as-a-rain-cloud iterations. But don't get us wrong, it's not a purely esthetic thing: Gray is as stylishly wearable as black but not as severe.

Unlike black or brown, gray has a warmth and coziness, even at its chicest, and we can't think of a color it won't complement. Which means the brights, pastels and autumnal toned pieces in your closet will have a new companion.

On the runways:

Jason Wu The mannish attitude of a charcoal overcoat and trousers takes an unexpected, feminine turn with a delicate feather and crystal embellishment.

Michael Kors Soft cashmere separates, as comfy as sweats, dress up beautifully with baby blue accents and pointy-toed pumps. Note the artful, undone layering of the shirt. So chic.

Alberta Ferretti Power-dressing at its prettiest! A waist-defining satin sash pulls together the soft silhouette of this womanly suit in a gentle shade of dove.

Zac Posen An off-kilter lapel on a nipped-waist reefer coat in heather gray gives this tailored monochromatic look swagger.

Christopher Kane Warm and fuzzy in the best possible way, a knit coat and dress ensemble comes off as both cozy and luxe with the addition of tonal fur-like trim.

When going gray, consider:

Find your new classic piece Designers found ways to make traditional cuts look new, from an investment coat like Isabel Marant's and French Connection's real-steal topper. The refinement of a covered-up rib-knit dress from Helmut Lang gets tweaked with flirty detachable cuffs. We also found trousers that are new takes on tailored menswear pants, including Acne Studio's high-waisted, cropped pair and Vince's well-cut slouchy version. Buy even one of these and you'll discover you won't have to overthink getting dressed, especially for work.

Be tempted by texture You'll have no problem finding beautiful gray pieces with sensuous textures, like suede, from a Theory oversized moto jacket and Tod's oxford-detailed boots. Smooth gray leather is equally appealing in a saddle bag from Sophie Hulme. And a marled-knit cardigan from French Connection and a contrast-lapel wool felt version from Rag & Bone deliver an embraceable warmth you'll want when the weather turns cool in a month or two.

Introducing, the "mixed media" option! We were intrigued when Peserico, an Italian brand that's been doing gorgeous, low-key classics for some 50 years, described a gray fit-and-flare dress as "mixed media" --meaning this sophisticated dress looks like separates with a rib-knit bodice and a sheer cotton and silk skirt. Even distressed gray jeans benefit from rugged/edgy/smooth contrasts. That "mixed" message also shows up in one of the ultimate save-up-your-pennies splurge of the season: a divine felted lace top in charcoal, black and white from Adam Lippes.

Charlize Theron Jokes About Recent Weight Gain During amfAR Gala

$

Charlize Theron is known to undergo striking transformations in the name of acting. (See: serial killer Aileen Wuornos.) For her next project, she’s once again gained weight to play ― drumroll, please ― an average human being.

The “Mad Max” actress is currently filming “Tully” with her “Young Adult” collaborators, director Jason Reitman and writer Diablo Cody. In the film, Theron plays Marlo, a mother of three children who develops a relationship with the titular nighttime nanny hired by her brother to lighten the load. According to People, Theron gained 35 pounds for the role.

At the amfAR Inspiration Gala in Los Angeles on Thursday night ― a benefit for AIDS research ― Theron walked the red carpet in a more loose-fitting gown than we’re accustomed to seeing her in. But she looked stunning nonetheless because, that’s right, she’s still Charlize Theron.

However, with friend Chelsea Handler first poking fun at Theron’s new curves, her weight apparently became the running joke of the evening, E! News reports.

Theron ran with the comedian’s quip as she accepted an Inspiration Award for her tireless HIV/AIDS prevention work in Africa.

“Yes, I am very fat right now,” she reportedly told the crowd.

However, the actress quickly moved on to more pressing matters, like the importance of advocating for those most acutely effected by HIV/AIDS ― women, people of color, LGBTQ people and sex workers.

“Despite our best intentions, sometimes people are still falling through the cracks and too many are not being seen,” Theron said. “It’s tough to admit that, as much progress as we’ve made, sometimes it feels like we’re failing the ones that need us the most.”

“We need big, bold messages to fight apathy in our governments and in our own communities. And if we’re going to end stigma, we’re going to have to check our own biases and ask who are we missing when we talk about end[ing] AIDS?”

This (and many other reasons) is why we love you at any size, Charlize.

These NICU Babies Could Not Be More Adorable In Their Tiny Halloween Costumes

A group of babies in the NICU received a special Halloween treat this month when March of Dimes teamed up with nurses at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City to make special costumes for the babies in their care.

“Families in the NICU may spend weeks or months here, and it can be an emotional time,” March of Dimes Associate Director of National Media Relations, Todd Dezen, told The Huffington Post. “Providing an opportunity for them to celebrate Halloween with their little ones allows them a sense of normalcy, and to celebrate their baby’s first milestones, which is what every family wants to do.”

In addition to handmade costumes geared toward their babies’ personalities, 35 NICU families received “Trick or Treat, smell my feet” cards with their babies’ footprints, Halloween-themed books and hand-crocheted pumpkins filled with treats to mimic trick-or-treating.

Halloween in Hollywood is no joke. While you were digging through your closet for a passable last-minute “Stranger Things” costume (guilty), celebrities came dressed to impress this Hallo-weekend with some seriously jaw-dropping outfits.

Kylie Jenner hosted a “Dead Dinner” for all her friends, Kate Hudson threw a star-studded Halloween party to remember and Bette Midler took over the Waldorf Astoria for her annual Hulaween Bash. And that was just Friday.

Oh, and lest we forget, Katy Perry impossibly one-upped her “drop the mic” costume from last year with a head-to-toe Hillary Clinton transformation

Check out some of our favorite looks from Hollywood’s first night of Halloween below:

Hilary Duff And Boyfriend Offend With Racist Pilgrim And Native American Costumes

$
0

When it comes to former child stars, they either leave Hollywood as a hero or stick around long enough to become problematic.

So goes the story of Hilary Duff and her new boyfriend, Jason Walsh, who for some reason thought it was a good idea to dress up in the worst couples costume ever: a sexy pilgrim and a Native American “chief.”

Let’s pause to remind everybody, especially celebrities with influence, for the umpteenth time: cultures are not a costume.

The two attended the Casamigos Halloween Party on Friday in their first public appearance as a couple. Duff divorced ex-husband Mike Comrie in February after six years of marriage. Rumors that the “Younger” star had moved on with personal trainer Walsh were confirmed earlier this month with an Instagram she shared of the two kissing

Dressing up as a Native American/pilgrim duo would be incredibly offensive in any year, considering the legacy of violence wrought upon native communities since the founding of this country. But the costume is particularly tone deaf given the current situation in North Dakota, where thousands of Native Americans and their supporters have been protesting the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. Pipeline opponents, who started demonstrating in January, say the proposed route threatens to contaminate the community’s water source and destroy sacred grounds. This week police raided a protest camp and arrested more than 100 people.

Social media immediately took note of Duff and Walsh and rightfully read them for filth for not considering how their costumes might be received by ...hmmm... actual Native Americans.

Do better.

Amazon Prime Costume Sparks Scary Good Halloween Photoshop Battle

Caron Arnold wowed the world earlier this week with her sensational Amazon Prime costume for Halloween.

And the St. Louis-based creative director’s fusion of Optimus Prime from “Transformers” with Amazon Prime’s fast shipping service is now getting the extra level of respect it so thoroughly deserves.

That’s right, it’s been the subject of an epic Photoshop Battle.

Within hours of Arnold’s image going viral, Redditors responded with a series of beautifully manipulated images.

They transplanted her costumed self into the presidential debates, movie promotional posters and iconic movie scenes — all in the name of entertainment.

Here are some of the funniest posts we’ve seen so far:

Kylie Jenner Unleashes Her Inner Xtina And Gets A Little 'Dirrty' For Halloween

It’s no secret Kylie Jenner is a fan of the sexy Halloween costume.

The youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner crew, who in the past has donned costumes such as sexy warrior princess and (the questionable) sexy “Eskimo,” took things one step further this year and literally got dirrty.

That’s right, for her second costume of the Halloween season ― the first was a skeleton ― the 19-year-old dressed up as Christina Aguilera from her infamous 2002 “Dirrty” music video. And yes, there were assless chaps, (faux?) facial piercings and extra glossy lips.

Just take a look for yourself ― Kylie nailed this one:

Family Pays Tribute To 'Mars Attacks' With Epic Halloween Costume

Every Halloween, professional seamstress and designer Steph Peterson crafts an impressively elaborate and creative group costume for her family. The costumes generally pay tribute to iconic movies, from “Beetlejuice” to “Labyrinth.”

This year, Peterson took on a cult classic: “Mars Attacks.”

”My dad passed away two years ago just before Halloween,” Peterson told The Huffington Post. “He’d made the suggestion to do ‘Mars Attacks’ and it seemed like the right year to do it.”

Peterson, who has a 10-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter, says her kids always have fun getting into the Halloween spirit. The same could not be said of her dog, Moxie, however.

“We dressed up our dog with a mask of Sarah Jessica Parker that I made for her,” Peterson said. “My daughter loved trying to get our poor dog to wear the mask. Unfortunately, Moxie just wasn’t thrilled with the costume, and she was pardoned from the picture.”

Even if lacking a character, this family’s photo makes one thing clear: They nailed it.

By Megan Gustashaw for GQ.

Dressing up on Halloween always seems like a good idea, until it comes down to actually seeking out all the elements needed for a costume. Then it just feels like a chore. But there’s a way to participate without spending an hour and a half in line at the local Halloween store; pick up one of fall’s goth-inspired buys. From torn-to-shreds knits to scary-high combat boots, there’s actually a lot on shelves this season that’d be appropriate this weekend — especially if all you plan to do is catch a horror movie at your local theatre, or make a quick appearance at a friend’s house party. You’re going to have to shell out a bit more by going this route, sure, but you can rest easy knowing you’ll actually wear this stuff more than once. And by more than once, we mean all winter long. You just can’t say that about a $49.99 Slash wig.

This Baby Dressed In A Different Halloween Costume Every Day

October 31 has finally arrived, but for 11-month-old Xayler, Halloween has been a month-long affair.

With help from his mom Lynzie, Xayler dressed up in a new costume every day in October. From an Ewok to an Oompa Loompa to Sheriff Woody, each costume is cuter than the next.

Lynzie documented her baby’s #31DaysOfHalloween on Instagram.

Because Xayler lives in Hawaii, he doesn’t usually like wearing a lot of heavy clothes in the heat, but Lynzie told The Huffington Post he lights up with a smile in his fun costumes. The mom noted that many of the costumes are simple DIY creations.

Lynzie said she hopes Xayler’s costumes inspire people to “be bold.”

She added, “Go all out. If you wanna dress up everyday, then do it. Just be yourself if that makes you happy. As long as you’re having fun!”

These Adorable Kids Dressed Up As Their Pets In Honor Of Halloween

For this family, dressing up in costumes is a great way to bond with the many animals in their care.

Pennsylvania mom and photographer Lindsey Bonnice captures her children’s dress-up adventures with their animal friends for an Instagram series she calls #SweetFluffDressUp.

Bonnice has two sons, 8-year-old Noah and 7-month-old Finn, and one daughter, 3-year-old Libby. The family also has two dogs, four cats, two pigs, a hamster and a tortoise. Their small farm in rural Pennsylvania includes two goats, a sheep, bunnies and chickens as well.

“The kids all love the animals,” Bonnice told The Huffington Post. “Noah is old enough to be really helpful with them, so he is my big helper with all the animal chores.”

“Libby thinks she’s every animal’s mother,” she added. “She loves to carry them around, talk to them and cuddle up with them. Finn is so fascinated by all the animals. He loves watching them all and now that he can crawl he crawls up to them and tries to pet them. It’s so sweet!”

This month, the kids have dressed up both in animal costumes to match their pets, and costumes that coordinate with the animals. The result is sheer, unadulterated cuteness.

“These pictures make me laugh every time I look at them,” said Bonnice of the costume photos. “I know they aren’t perfect and were all crazy and exhausting to photograph, but they make me so happy. I hope others will enjoy sharing them with their friends and laughing at the thought of how funny they were to create!” she added.

These Twins Are Double The Trouble With Their Halloween Costumes

$

Three-year-old twins, Elli and Max, love to wear costumes all year long, but this October, they got to do it every single day.

For their “31 Days of Halloween,” the toddlers dressed up as their favorite Disney heroes, as well as characters from other pop culture universes. The twins’ mom, Jillian Robinson-Garcia, told The Huffington Post she tries to make dressing up a fun adventure for the kids.

”It’s not just put on a costume and smile,” she explained. “We have theme days. We make up games to go with that day’s costume. We watch YouTube videos of the characters and pretend we are them in our living room.”

Robinson-Garcia said the costumes are a combination of secondhand purchases, DIY creations and gifts from their grandma.

The daily costumes project has been a positive experience for the twins in many ways.

“They have been potty trained for some time, but Max was experiencing what his pediatrician called ‘regression,’” their mom told HuffPost. Following the doctor’s advice to focus on positives, Robinson-Garcia offered costumes as a reward.

“When he had an accident, we took off the costumes and washed them,” she explained. “That was it for costumes that day.” With the incentive to stay in his costumes, Max soon returned to fully potty-trained status and wore costumes all day.

Robinson-Garcia said she wants her kids’ dress-up adventures to inspire others.

“I hope parents who see the photos show their kiddos and are inspired to whip up something to get their imaginations going,” she explained.

The “31 Days of Halloween” project has gone over so well that the mom is planning to do a “24 Days of Being Thankful” activity in November and “25 Days of Giving” in December.

Until then, keep scrolling and visit Robinson-Garcia’s Instagram for some awesome Halloween costumes

Adele Will Have 'No Man' Telling Her To Shave Her 'F**kin' Legs'

Adele is nothing like us in that she has the voice and face of an angel and is the recipient of too many accolades to count. Strip that away though, and there are some stark similarities. She burps! She loves dogs! She mourned the demise of Brangelina!

She also apparently doesn’t give a you-know-what about whether or not Simon Konecki, her boyfriend of five years, minds her unshaven legs.

Our queen appears on Vanity Fair’s December 2016 issue, wherein she talks about a few of her signature looks. We find out she has waited weeks to have her eyebrows shaped “because the only woman she’ll let touch them lives in L.A.” We find out those iconic fake nails are “coming off straight after the tour.”

Most importantly, we find out that she recently shaved her legs for the first time in a month.

Adele has famously worn one floor-length dress throughout the length of her tour, but told VF “she thought people in the front row at her concerts might notice then when she runs up the stairs to the stage.”

Asked whether Konecki minds her lax grooming habits, Adele perfectly quipped back. “He has no choice. I’ll have no man telling me to shave my f**kin’ legs. Shave yours.”

God bless you, Adele. God. Bless. You.

Head to Vanity Fair to see the whole story and be sure to pick up your copy when it hits newsstands November 8.

The 'Face Of Mental Illness' Campaign Proves It's A Condition, Not A Halloween Costume

Mental illness is a health condition, not a Halloween costume

And this Halloween, social media users are spreading the word. Mental health advocates are taking selfies with the hashtag #FaceOfMentalIllness to gently remind everyone that mental illness is not a horror show or a scene to be frightened or ashamed by.

“Mental illness is nothing to make fun of, or use as a frightening attraction,”Jennifer Marshall, cofounder and executive director of the advocacy community This Is My Brave, told The Mighty. “Doing so only reinforces the social discrimination that still surrounds mental illness. We wanted to show the world the true face of mental illness — everyday people who you know and love.”

Check out all the people below who live with mental illness every day. They are your friends, coworkers, family, neighbors and acquaintances.
