The Best Airline Amenity Kits Worth The Long Flight

$

For Allure, by Jenna Mahoney.

The friendly skies are anything but these days. Flight delays, endless lines and increased baggage loss all sully the allure of air travel. While some airlines may treat passengers more like cattle, there are some that are bringing the glamour back. Passengers in business, first, and sometimes economy classes receive stylish packs of beauty products to counteract the tiring effects of a long flight. From partnerships with Acqua di Parma and Christian Lacroix to Birchbox, these are are our favorite in-flight amenities.

British Airways

Travel fun fact: The British Royal family flies commercial. And when Duchess Kate and Prince William jet around the world, they do so on the U.K.’s premier carrier British Airways. Like Burberry and high tea, there’s something so quintessentially English about this airline, which is one of the world’s largest. So it should come as no surprise that the amenity kits presented to the upper classes brim with U.K.-favorite brands. Passengers in Club World (a.k.a. international business) enjoy Elemis products such as Lip Balm, Pro-Collagen Marine Cream and Pro-Radiance Hand and Nail Cream.

Cathay Pacific

Among travel nerds, the goodies on Asian carrier Cathay Pacific are the most coveted. One reason is the Aesop branded pouches gifted to passengers in first class. Inside you can find a smattering of humectant products from the boutique Australian skin-care brand (we love the Rosehip Seed Lip Cream), along with a sleep mask and — this is a biggie — a screen cleaning cloth. As with many of the airlines, there are kits designed for men and women. In business class, passengers are treated to goods by Jurlique packed in pouches by Hong Kong-based indie brand Seventy Eight Percent.

Qatar

The service on this Doha-based airline is the stuff of vintage daydreams. Meticulously groomed cabin crews provide a seemingly endless selection of excellent food along with high-tech entertainment options on flights that criss-cross the globe. Passengers in first class enjoy beauty kits packed in Giorgio Armani cosmetic cases, as well as full-flat beds and get PJs to go with them. The loungewear, which are designed for both men and women, come complete with slippers and sleep masks.

Etihad

There are few airlines as exclusive as this Abu Dhabi-based carrier. This is, after all, the airline with the Residence, a three-room suite in the air complete with a butler service, a bed dressed in Italian linens, a personal shower, and a bonanza of Acqua di Parma products, along with in-flight Christian Lacroix loungewear. But you don’t need to drop five figures to get an amenity kit on this airline. Economy passengers get the “Sleep Tight” kit, which features a cool sleep mask among other goodies. Those in business class receive ultra-hydrating moisturizers and lip balms packed with vitamin E. On the ground, the airline has partnered with the uber pampering Six Senses Spa in Abu Dhabi.

Emirates

With a hub in Dubai, Emirates serves more than 50 exclusive routes in the U.S. and throughout the Middle East. And the airline’s service is legendary. Fittingly, upper class amenity kits are packed with bespoke beauty goodies from Bulgari. Each set comes with an exclusive fragrance—Red Tea, Black Tea, White Tea, Green Tea—developed for the airline to correspond with the colors of the national flag of the United Arab Emirates. Scents and kits rotate every 90 days, so frequent fliers can get a variety of goodies. Economy passengers also get amenity kits boasting Bulgari—albeit a bit pared down version—on long-haul flights.

Delta

Refreshed, relaxed, and glowing aren’t exactly the result of long-haul flights. That’s about to change with the new kits launched in July by Delta in partnerships with Tumi and Kiehl’s. Products—which include Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1, Kiehl’s Hand & Body Lotion with Aloe Vera and Oatmeal, and a dental kit—are expertly curated to combat the dehydrating effects of air travel. Delta One passengers also get luxe eye masks by Tumi and adorable socks to help circulation. The actual Tumi travel pouches change based on the flights.

KLM

In March 2016, KLM (Royal Dutch Airlines), one of the marquee carriers in the Sky Team alliance announced an exclusive partnership with Dutch haute fashion designer Jan Taminiau. He’s created a series of comfort bags to be dispensed on intercontinental flights in the KLM’s World Business cabin. Unlike other amenity kit pouches, these are six chic clutches (for women) and wallets (hello, gents) in 12 different colors that are designed with post-flight use in mind. The bags are offered in addition to the airline’s exclusive Delft Blue houses, charming ceramic gifts that have been a KLM gift since the 1950s.

This J.Crew Line Is Shutting Down

$

For Glamour, by Megan Gustashaw.

It’s the end of a very chic bridal era. Today it was revealed that J.Crew would be shuttering its bridal collection immediately, due to lagging sales. That means no more modern-girl gowns, actually cute bridesmaid dresses, or dreamy catalogs that made wedding season seem, not only survivable, but fun. Damn.

According to Racked, who broke the story this morning, the costly materials needed for bridal gowns, plus the small segment of shoppers actually looking to buy one, led to the decision to close the business. Racked also alluded to the fact that while J.Crew was among the first affordable retails to launch a bridal collection, today practically everyone has one. From H&M to Modcloth and Anthropologie and Reformation, it’s true that fashion-forward brides on a budget have plenty of options these days.

There is a small silver lining — or two, actually. One, you can get everything in J.Crew’s wedding section for more than 50 percent off right now. That means bridesmaid dresses for as low as $50 and bridal gowns for around $500. Two, once the inventory sells out J.Crew plans to roll out a new line of party and special occasion dresses in bold prints and colors. So if you were one of the many women who secretly bought J.Crew bridesmaid dresses to wear as a wedding guest, save your tears. There are bright color floral dresses and feather-accented LBDs in your future.

7 Major Skin Care Sins You're Making Every Morning

$
0
0

For Glamour, by Beth Shapouri.

You don’t want to start off your day on the wrong foot in the skin care department, right? Right. So the fact that there are sneaky things that might be sabotaging your complexion — without you even realizing it — is a need-to-know situation. Here’s a list of some of the morning mistakes that could be wrecking your skin on the regular. Take note, your A.M. strategy might just change forever.

Mistake #1: Over-cleansing (for sensitive types) If your skin gets red and blotchy after washing your face in the morning, you could be stripping away your natural protective oils. “When we overwash, it looks like our skin is broken out, but it could really just be irritated, peeling and inflamed,” dermatologist Gervaise Gerstner, M.D. told us. The solution? Skip the face wash and rinse away any dirt, dead skin cells, and bacteria you accumulated overnight with plain water or a micellar water.

Mistake #2: Using the same old washcloth If a washcloth is part of your routine, Kelly A. Reynolds, Ph.D., an environmental health science professor at the University of Arizona, says you need to toss it in the laundry daily. “Washcloths typically become soaked and heavily soiled during use,” she says. “When used to scrub skin, soils from makeup or dead skin cells can rapidly accumulate. Being wet and not just damp means there is a longer dry time. This lengthy condition of moisture creates the perfect environment for bacteria and mold to grow to unacceptable levels.” Ew.

Mistake #3: Going in the wrong order According to New York City dermatologist Jennifer MacGregor, M.D., there’s a correct order for your skin care products, and here it is: After cleansing, put on serum (so it can fully absorb), then sunscreen, then moisturizer, and finally, eye cream. All the reasons why here.

Mistake #4: Cocktailing too many products There are plenty of skin-nourishing ingredients out there, but trying to go for them all at once could be messing up your face. “Piling on multiple active ingredients can often lead to redness, inflammation, and peeling,” says Santa Monica, Calif., dermatologist Sonia Batra, M.D. . And while it’s true that antioxidants work best when combined (vitamins C and E are an especially powerful duo), retinols paired with acne treatments and alpha hydroxy acids are a recipe for disaster. Her rules for minimizing irritation: Introduce one new product at a time, wait a full minute between layering products to buffer interactions, and go for formulas that are fragrance-free.

Mistake #5: Not putting your eye cream around your lips “Always apply eye cream to your upper lip,” Matt Leavitt, D.O., of Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery in Florida advises. They’re known for having the most nutrient-rich ingredients to treat collagen production, wrinkles, and elastin because eyes are typically one of the hardest area on the face to treat. And since your lips tend to age faster than the rest of your face, they can use the help.

Mistake #6: Not using the right motion when you cleanse Explains NYC epidermologist and facialist Isabelle Bellis, you need to “glide your fingertips, covered with cleanser, up over your nose, onto your forehead, around the eyes, and down the cheeks until you reach your chin. Kind of like doing mini breaststrokes on your face.” This increases circulation as you wash, which will make your face look like you got an extra hour of sleep.

Mistake #7: Waiting too long to product-up Don’t dilly-dally when it comes to your skin. Apply whatever products you use (toner, serum, eye cream, moisturizer) within a few minutes of cleansing, while your skin is still damp and pores are open, says Santa Monica dermatologist Sonia Batra, M.D.

Michelle Obama Is The Picture Of Class During Hillary Clinton Campaign Rally

$

First lady Michelle Obama proved yet again that she is the definition of class during a speech on the eve of Election Day in Philadelphia.

Obama on Monday thanked the American people and reiterated her support for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, saying America is “one day away from once again making history.

Before handing over the mic to her husband, President Barack Obama, and eventually Clinton, FLOTUS commended Americans for “giving our family the extraordinary honor of serving as your first family.”

“Thank you for welcoming us into your communities with open hearts, for giving us a chance, whether you agreed with our politics or not,” she told people at a rally for Clinton. “Every day you have inspired us with your courage and your decency and every day we have tried to make you proud and live up to the standard of citizenship that you set.”

Obama expressed strong support for Clinton, saying that she and her husband believe they have a responsibility to make sure “this country is handed over to a leader that we all can trust.”

We deserve a leader who will ensure that our daughters are safe and respected,” she said. “And that our sons understand that truly strong men are compassionate and kind.”

She urged the crowd to take time to vote for the Democratic nominee.

“If we get out and vote tomorrow, Hillary Clinton will win,” she said. “Presidential elections are breathtakingly close ... each of you has the power to swing an entire precinct for Hillary, and if we swing enough precincts, we will win the state, we will win this election and we will continue the progress that we have all made together these past eight years.”

To finish her speech, Obama introduced her husband. She described her pride in what his administration has accomplished, and for “showing us all what intelligence, dignity and grace really look like.”

And if you’re not already dreading this couple’s departure from the White House, the president’s tribute to his wife during his speech should do the trick.

Prince Harry Confirms He's Dating Meghan Markle In A Stinging Rebuke To Tabloids And Trolls

Everyone, including us, had something to say when rumors of a new relationship between Prince Harry and American actress Meghan Markle made the rounds last week. It’s been some time since the royal had a new love interest, and the excitement was palpable.

But there’s a difference between interest and preventing someone in a rumored relationship from feeling safe in their daily lives. According to a surprising and pointed new statement from Kensington Palace, Markle’s been enduring the latter since the news dropped.

The statement released Tuesday by Kensington Palace not only confirms Harry’s relationship with Markle ― it’s been going on for “a few months,” apparently ― but expressed Harry’s dislike for the treatment she’s received online and otherwise.

The prince’s communications secretary said Markle has been “subject to a wave of abuse and harassment,” including a “smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments.”

The statement further says that aside from public harassment, Markle and her family are under seige behind the scenes, with “nightly legal battles to keep defamatory stories out of papers; her mother having to struggle past photographers in order to get to her front door; the attempts of reporters and photographers to gain illegal entry to her home and the calls to police that followed; the substantial bribes offered by papers to her ex-boyfriend; the bombardment of nearly every friend, co-worker, and loved one in her life.

“Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her,” the statement says, acknowledging such a missive about his private life is “unusual.”

Markle is no stranger to the spotlight ― the L.A.-raised “Suits” star is a celebrity in her own right ― but Harry also addressed those who’d say this kind of treatment comes with the territory. “He strongly disagrees,” the secretary wrote. “This is not a game ― it is her life and his.”

Bravo to Harry for standing up for himself, for Markle and their new relationship.

“He knows that it is unusual to issue a statement like this,” the statement concludes, “but hopes that fair-minded people will understand why he has felt it necessary to speak publicly.”

Maggie Rizer Announces Split From Trump Models In Poignant Post

Supermodel Maggie Rizer announced on Sunday that she has parted with her agent at Trump Models in light of the presidential election.

She wrote about her decision in a strongly-worded caption for a photo on Instagram. “As a woman, a mother, an American and a human being, I cannot wake up Wednesday morning being the least bit related to the Trump brand; win or lose,” she wrote.

According to Page Six, Rizer signed on with Trump Models in 2008 in an effort to make a career comeback after her huge success in the 1990s. After almost 10 years with the brand, though, the mother of three has emphasized the importance of taking a stand against Trump, especially for her children.

“I owe it to myself and to my children to proudly stand up for what I believe in and that is a world where Donald Trump has no voice for the future of our country,” she wrote.

Well said, Maggie.

Soothe Your Election Anxiety With Lindsay Lohan's Clothing Line Inspired By Her Weird Accent

Experiencing uncontrollable waves of crippling anxiety on Election Day? Us too! Soothe your election woes with the news that our American treasure with a faux-Euro lilt, Lindsay Lohan, has created a new clothing line inspired by her weird accent. In these tumultuous times, it’s nice to know that we still have Lohan to rely on for regular celebrity tomfoolery.

The “Mean Girls” star has apparently developed a sense of humor about herself after a video of her new accent ― that would even make Madonna’s eyes roll ― made the internet rounds last week.

She swiftly dubbed her new way of speaking “LiLohan” and parlayed the media attention into a new clothing line with Represent benefiting Caudwell Children, a charity that aids disabled children in the U.K., and The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency of Turkey.

“I wanted to turn a silly viral event into something positive for the world,” Lohan says on the clothing line’s website.

Offerings include sweatshirts, T-shirts and tank tops with the words, “I only speak LiLohan,” emblazoned on the front, running from $24.99 to $39.99.

According to The Daily Mail, if the items start selling out, Lohan will perform a rendition of the famous “Jingle Bell Rock” number  from “Mean Girls” with (fingers crossed) new president Hillary Clinton.

You Have To See The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Outfit With 450,000 Crystals

For Teen Vogue, by Avery Matera.

Jasmine Tookes will wear the Fantasy Bra at this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, but she's not the only model that'll sparkle that night. One of Josephine Skriver's newly-revealed looks will feature 450,000 Swarovski crystals. Mic drop.

Her Swarovski outfit features a show-stopping crop top and thigh-high boots from Brian Atwood, along with the standard bralette and undies. There’s barely an inch of her look that isn’t intricately covered in the clear gems, but the real magic lies in the 3,000 strands of crystals that hang from each sleeve and all down her back, creating a cape-like silhouette.

Now, let’s talk about the boots: The crystals on those babies amount to more than 1,630 and that’s in addition to the 450,000 gems already included in the look. Her glittering look will appear in the aptly-named “Bright Night Angel” section of the show so prepare yourself for plenty of bling.

And when the show is over, you may just see this leggy beauty walking around the City of Lights in her embellished outfit. “I am just going to wear this 24/7 in Paris and sparkle like this every day,” she said. Same, TBH.

How To Treat Every Type Of Acne

$
0
0

For Teen Vogue, by Deanna Pal.

Acne might be the great equalizer, plaguing everyone regardless of their grades, gender, or their taste in music. But not all acne is made equal. Various factors — like your diet, your stress levels, and your hormones — can lead to different types of breakouts. The good news: Some kinds are easier to treat than others. Then, of course, there’s the bad news: Each type of pimple requires its own plan of attack. Once you figure out why you’re breaking out, though, it gets easier and easier for you to prevent them altogether. Here, a breakdown of what might be behind that breakout — and what you can do about it.

You have: Big, red cysts — and a lot of them.

What’s going on: Cystic acne is no joke. Usually, it’s the work of a combination of hormonal changes and genetics, and it’s far and away the most stubborn type of acne. Because it’s so tough to treat, it requires a few different treatment methods. In addition to topical acne-fighting ingredients like salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, you may want to consider oral antiobiotics to nix bacteria (which requires a trip to your doctor). A newer option worth trying? Probiotics. “Probiotics have been shown to help cystic acne because they reduce inflammatory breakouts,” says Kim Nichols, MD, a dermatologist in Greenwich, CT and consulting dermatologist for Avon.

You have: Small, red bumps that never come to a head.

What’s going on: Blame inflammation. A less-severe form of cystic acne, papular pustules are sensitive to the touch (from the inflammation) and also the work of hormones and genetics. On the bright side, this type of acne “rarely leads to permanent scarring like cystic acne can,” says Nichols. She suggests using a mild exfoliant to keep the pores clean. One like BeautyRx Essential 8 percent Exfoliating Serum does the trick, but is still gentle enough to use every day.

You have: A pimple buried way beneath your skin.

What’s going on: Blind pimples are the worst, mostly because they can be incredibly painful. They’re basically cystic acne that hasn’t reached the surface of the skin. The good news, though, is that they often go away on their own — so you may feel the bump, but the chances of it actually emerging are pretty slim. (Don’t even bother trying to squeeze it out. It’ll only hurt like hell and could actually cause an infection beneath the skin.)

You have: A sprinkling of acne around your chin and jawline.

What’s going on: We’re going to take a wild guess. Do those pimples usually appear around the same time every month? Breakouts around the lower half of the face are usually the work of fluctuating hormones. If you don’t notice it lining up with your period, it could be a matter of hygiene. “It’s rare, but the jawline and neck area are hard-to-reach areas and can be missed when you’re cleansing,” says Nichols. If you’re double-cleanse on the daily, though, and know that it’s not that, it’s worth talking to your derm, since birth control can help level out those hormones. (Here’s a guide to your options.)

You have: A regular whitehead.

What’s going on: Whiteheads (also known as comedones) are the classic zit case. They’re essentially clogged pores caused by heavy oil production, which you’re either born with or may be experiencing as a result of hormone fluctuations. The gunk that’s clogged can trap bacteria into the pore, which leads to a mini-infection that brings about swelling, redness, and pain — AKA a pimple. “A retinol cream, used a few nights per week, can minimize comedones,” says Nichols, who recommends Avon Anew Clinical Line Eraser with Retinol Treatment.

The Most Googled Skin Concerns By State

$

For Teen Vogue, by Sarah Wu.

We all have our own, individual skin type and concerns — a fact you probably already know to be true if you’ve ever gone shopping for moisturizers and serums. Maybe your main focus is treating acne, or maybe you’re more interested in counteracting dry skin. The bottom line: our complexions are as varied as the individuals they belong to. But, as we recently found out, you may have more in common with the people around you than you think — at least when it comes to your most pressing skin concerns.

Skinfo recently released a map that shows the most searched skin conditions by state, and the results were honestly surprising. By comparing state-specific data to the national search volume in Google, the company was able to pinpoint the biggest complexion concerns in every single state. The overwhelming trend? Your environment is probably dictating your skin woes.

Your environment is probably dictating your skin woes.

“Our skin reacts to the environment in various ways in order to protect itself,” explains dermatologist Dr. S. Manjula Jegasothy. “For example, in sunny, humid climates, the skin doesn’t have to worry about transepidermal water loss as compared to dry, cold climates.”

This isn’t to say you should move to another state. “Depending on where you live, use products that suit that climate,” says Dr. Jegasothy. “For example, use light serums and sunscreen all year if you live in a warm, sunny climate. In dry, cold climates, opt for hydrating lotions and creams.” So, the next time you go to Sephora, consider this a useful tool to help you narrow down your shopping cart. Who knew geography lessons could be so useful?

Cakeboy Magazine Reframes Makeup For Men

$
0
0

For Teen Vogue, by Sarah Wu.

When it comes to wearing makeup, you should be able to approach it however you want to. As the beauty community grows and and pushes back against restrictive stereotypes, more and more vloggers are embracing the idea of men wearing makeup — and shifting away from the outdated idea that it has to look any one way. Talented gurus like Manny Gutierrez and Patrick Starr have questioned the idea that makeup has to be gendered, and CoverGirl’s recent announcement of James Charles as their first male face built on that conversation in the best way possible.

The thing is, the idea of “makeup for men” still comes with underlying expectations that can feel implicitly condemning. As a recent article in Cakeboy magazine reminded us, there still exists a certain expectation that boy beauty looks should stand quietly to the side. “Google ‘makeup for men’ and the results yield a comically defensive tone in the popular discourse around men wearing makeup,” the publication points out. “’Undercover’ and ‘undetectable’ makeup tutorials rear their ugly heads.” This is not to say that there’s anything wrong with a minimal makeup aesthetic, but there is a problem with suggesting that makeup for men is only societally acceptable when you can’t tell it’s there. Even now, makeup is often gendered and attached to stereotypes surrounding masculinity and femininity. The prevailing attitude seems to be that if you’re a man and wear makeup, you still somehow need to conform to a “masculine” image.

The thing is, the idea of 'makeup for men' still comes with underlying expectations that can feel implicitly condemning.

To counter that mistaken belief, Cakeboy dreamed up three takes on men wearing makeup that we instantly fell in love with. MUA and visual artist Marcelo Gutierrez painted the models’ faces in washes of glitter and dewy tints that were totally irresistible. From a warmed-up base to burgundy lips and lids to sky-blue shimmers, these looks were all about fully embracing the presence of makeup — instead of masking it. It’s one of the most beautiful examples of barrier-breaking we’ve seen, and it’s another line in a conversation we hope continues to barrel forward. Watch it all unfold in this video — it’ll be the best thing you see today.

These Shoes With Interchangeable Heels Are Game Changers

There’s a battle that wages inside anyone wearing high heels on a dance floor. About halfway through the evening (if you’re lucky), continuing in your shoes seems unbearable. Do you suck it up and keep dancing until your feet bleed, or take them off and risk getting stepped on by another brave soul in stilettos?

German shoe retailer Mime et Moi may have just solved this problem completely, not to mention the issue of painful commutes in pumps. The company offers a range of women’s shoes in a bunch of different colorways that ― wait for it! ― come with five different interchangeable heel options. There are high and medium stiletto heels, high and medium block heels, and a flat heel, too.

According to a video from Tech Insider UK, the different heels fit easily into a handbag, making them ideal for carting along on a commute, to a wedding, or pretty much anywhere else. Plus, they easily click in and out, meaning you’ll be back on that dance floor in no time.

Unfortunately, the shoes themselves are only available in Europe so far, but that won’t stop us from daydreaming about them until they hit this side of the pond ― or from finding a vacationing friend to bring us back a pair, which retail between about $190 and $220.

Head to Mime et Moi to learn more.

On Tuesday, Nasty Women all over America braved the long lines at the polls to cast their votes for the first woman POTUS ― and they did it in some fine ass pantsuits.

Many women opted for the crisp, white pantsuit to pay homage to the suffragists who paved the way for our right to vote, and others opted for something a little more colorful.

Either way, female voters made a serious statement in their pantsuits (and nasty woman gear) during this election. Check out 23 delightful photos of women at the polls below:

Watch Alec Baldwin Become Donald Trump In Behind-The-Scenes 'SNL' Video

It takes a lot of work to make Alec Baldwin look that orange.

The unsung heroes of this election season are undoubtedly the “Saturday Night Live” hair and makeup teams, who tirelessly toil away to transform the cast into politicians ripe for skewering.

In a new behind-the-scenes video, the heads of the hair and makeup departments, Jodi Mancuso and Louie Zakarian, explain exactly what it takes to bring Baldwin’s Donald Trump and Kate McKinnon’s Hillary Clinton to life every Saturday night.

“SNL” has tackled Trump before ― former cast members Darrell Hammond and Taran Killam have played the GOP nominee ― but Baldwin apparently wanted to take the character’s appearance in a bolder direction given the current political climate.

“Alec really wanted to go over the top,” Zakarian says in the video. “He wanted crazy huge eyebrows ... he wanted to be painted orange, like bright orange.”

McKinnon’s transformation into Clinton presented different challenges for the crew, who struggled to adapt Hillary’s signature coif to the actress’ smaller stature. To perfect the look, they had to scale back the size of the wig to make it look realistic, while paying close attention to Clinton’s makeup color scheme and the shape of her eyebrows.

This Is Not The White Pantsuit We Expected To See Last Night

Donald Trump is actually our next president, and Melania Trump is our next first lady.

The latter attended her husband’s victory party at the Hilton in New York City Tuesday night in a white Ralph Lauren one-shoulder jumpsuit. We thought we might see a white pantsuit, but not this one:

She paired it with her tried and true facial expression:

And that’s all we really have to say about that.

Hillary Clinton Embodies Unity In A Purple Suit At Her Concession Speech

Hillary Clinton lost a bitter presidential race, but she made a classy statement for national unity in purple ― the combination of red and blue ― as she addressed supporters Wednesday morning.

The candidate took the stage for a tear-jerking concession speech in a dark grey pantsuit with purple lapels and blouse. Her husband Bill got in on the game with a matching purple tie.

There’s no official word from Clinton’s camp on why she chose purple, though most observers guessed it was a call for national unity. Purple has also historically stood for nobility, with spiritual roots as a color of royalty and penitence. It’s also a power color chosen by the suffragist movement and represents LGBTQ rights.

We see you, Hillz. We see you.

After a campaign season marred by unrelenting misogyny, Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton to become this country’s president-elect, and many women are reeling. We’re grieving. We’re taking stock of how we got here. We’re getting IUDs. As Clinton said in her concession speech on Wednesday, these results are painful for a lot of people, and they will be for a long time.

Mercifully, this country has long had organizations that fight, every day, to empower women and keep them safe. And while it is, of course, OK to simply be still and feel whatever it is you’re feeling, there are things you can do right now if you feel like you’re crawling out of your skin. Perhaps consider this list (by no means exhaustive) of pro-women, pro-girls groups that can always use support:

American Civil Liberties Union fights to support reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights, racial justice, voting rights and free speech (to name a few). Take action. Make a gift.

Black Women’s Blueprint fights sexual violence against black women and girls. Donate here.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America helps provide a safe place for boys and girls to learn and play through programs aimed at fostering leadership, health, the arts, etc. Here are a few ways to give.

Center for Reproductive Rights works to improve the worldwide reproductive rights landscape using the law. Report a rights violation, call on Congress to support women or donate

NARAL Pro-Choice America fights to protect women’s legal right to abortion services in this country. DonateVolunteer

National Organization for Women (NOW), the feminist advocacy group, has been fighting for the women’s rights movement since the 1960s, promoting reproductive rights and an end gender-based inequality. (On Wednesday afternoon, the website was temporarily down but we will update soon.)

National Women’s Law Center works to create policies and laws that support girls and women ― particularly those who are low-income and have been discriminated against. Take action. Donate

Planned Parenthood provides healthcare to 1.5 million women and men every year in this country (despite being under constant threat by the GOP). Donate. Get involved here

RAINN is the largest organization in this country dedicated to ending sexual violence. Get involved by fundraising or helping with the national sexual assault hotline (among other volunteer opportunities). Donate

Save the Children invests in the lives of boys and girls around the world and across the country, directly reaching more than 60 million children a year. Get involved here

Ultra Violet helps combat sexism and supports sexual assault victims. Take action here

This Is What Women Really Think of Your Cologne

By Max Berlinger for GQ.

A trio of models weigh in on fall's newest scents.

While choosing a fragrance may be an incredibly personal endeavor — like picking out your outfit, or what you do in the shower — there's no denying that it effects those within your direct vicinity. And most importantly for guys, it has an impact on women who may come within sniffing distance. Knowing that, we brought in a trio of models to GQ HQ (nice work if you can get it, eh?) to smell some of the latest colognes to hit the market and tell us what they think about them, and about men's fragrances in general. Here's what we found.

9 New Colognes To Help You Smell Your Best This Fall

Do you like it when a guy wears cologne? Yes, of course. I love Christian Dior Homme.

Why? I don’t know. I smelled it on someone a year ago, and I was like, “Please tell me what that is,” and he wouldn’t. But I kept pestering him. I think it’s a unisex smell, I used to use it too.

Do you like unisex fragrances on guys? Yeah, as long as he’s not wearing something that smells a lot like a chick, it’s fine.

Are there any sorts of smells you like, not colognes, that you love on a guy? Slightly floral, something that smells fresh. Something athletic.

OK, tell me what you think of these colognes:

Atelier Cologne Bergamote Soleil: Ooh, that’s very citrus-y. I could deal with it. I like it, I’d give it a seven or eight out of ten. I could picture Tom Hardy wearing it. I thought maybe Leo or George Clooney too. Someone along those lines.

Ralph Lauren Collection Oud: That’s musky. It’s very deep, strong. Who would wear it... probably Morgan Freeman. I’d give it a five or six, but in moderation ... very little. In general, it’s nice if you smell the cologne, but I don’t want to smell you from 10 feet away.

Tom Ford Vert D’Encens: This is a bit more floral, but still musky. It’s like a mix of the two. It’s ... powdery. It’s OK, I’d put this at a four or five. It smells like Dior Sauvage. It’s not bad.

Winner: Atelier Cologne Bergamote Soleil

Do you like it when guys wear cologne? Oh yeah. I love Carolina Herrera for men. I always look for new fragrances, because I like to buy them for myself. But for guys, I think it has to be strong. It can’t be sweet or like a girl’s perfume.

Do you have any other favorites? Oh, I love [Ralph Lauren] Polo. I like a normal amount, not too much. One spray of a good cologne is good enough.

Do Brazilian guys wear cologne differently than American guys? They do! It’s so funny, whenever I go back there’s a specific perfume that all the guys use. When you go back, they all smell like it. I forget what it’s called.

DS Durga Rose Atlantic: It’s not quite right for me. For me, this would be like a five. I don’t like florals for men, I like a man that smells like a man.

The Art of Shaving, Sandalwood & Cypress: Mmm, this is much better. It’s like woodsy. Oh, this reminds me of Johnny Depp. Very ... strong. It’s like hippie-ish.

Editions de Parfum Frederic Malle: I don’t dislike it, but it’s not my favorite. It’s like an eight. It’s not ... I feel like people won’t remember this. I like smells that make a big impact, that will make people remember you.

Do you like men wearing colognes? Not like. Love. Obsessed. I love to wear them, I have a six or seven that I use for myself. I am very sensitive to smell, so I like a guy who smells good. I love Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gio. It's so fresh and sexy. I love Jean Paul Gaultier. There are some fragrances from Brazil that I like too, from Natura, they're from the Amazon. They are all fresh, very natural. It's just different from what we have in the US.

How much cologne do you think a guy should wear? I don't want a lot, but you should know he put some on, that there's cologne there, you know?

DS Durga Rose Atlantic: I like this. It's so good. I like that it's light and that it's fresh. I like that it's a little feminine. I feel like Matthew McConaughey would wear it.

Ralph Lauren Collection Oud: This is good, but it's a little too strong for my taste. I feel like a tough guy would wear it, like Tom Hardy.

Editions de Parfum Frederic Malle: Mmmm, I don't think I like it. It's too menthol. Maybe for breath. It smells a little bit like a bathroom, like a clean bathroom. But I don't like a person to wear it.

Pat McGrath's New Metal Makeup Is Absolutely Mesmerizing

For the love of all things sparkly, this is major.

Famed makeup artist Pat McGrath blew up Instagram and the minds of makeup lovers everywhere when she released a line of glittery lip kits in September.

She just took that frenzy and raised it with an intensely pigmented, hypnotizing new kit, which we could literally watch being applied on a loop for hours.

Metalmorphosis, McGrath’s newest upcoming release, is a bold range of metallic pigments for eyes, lips and face that are, according to her website, “a supernatural collection for manifesting metallurgic masterpieces.”

Like the lip kits before them, these looks are not for the faint of heart ― but they are incredibly cool to look at.

Metalmorphosis kits ― which come in gold, gilver, bronze and copper ― include a mixing liquid to achieve the look above, and a dual-ended black marker liner. If her previous product debuts are any indication, these are going to fly off the digital shelves come their release date on Nov. 15.

For those lucky enough to get their hands on a kit, McGrath’s site also instructs customers to “use without caution.”

Fine by us, Pat.
