Everything You Need To Know To Get A Passport for A Child

$
0
0

Everyone needs a passport to leave the country, even newborn children. But the process to obtain one for someone under the age of 16 is different than the process for an adult.

Here are two major differences: All children under 16 must apply for a passport in person, with a legal guardian. And their passports only last for five years, unlike adult passports, which are good for 10 years.

Even if your child already has a passport, be sure to check the expiration date of both yours and theirs before you plan a trip.

“Some countries require that passports be valid for 6 months beyond the date of travel,” explained Amie O’Shaughnessy, CEO of Ciao Bambino, a travel agency specializing in planning family vacations with children. Tales of disappointed families who get to the airport and are unable to take their trip because of expired and expiring passports are common, she said.

Here’s a rundown of steps to take in order to obtain a U.S passport for a minor. You’ll have to run through this process for an expired passport too, as a minor’s passport cannot be renewed.

1. Gather the documents

You need a few things before you fill out the passport application: Proof of the minor’s citizenship is first. An original or certified birth certificate works, however, a photocopy does not. A certificate of citizenship, consular report of birth abroad or certification of birth works, too. An undamaged U.S. passport is permitted as proof of citizenship, even if it is expired.

The person accompanying the child to get a passport will need to show proof of legal guardianship. An original or certified birth certificate or consular report of citizenship are the easiest to bring, because each also fulfills the requirement of the child’s proof of citizenship. But if you don’t have either of the above, an adoption decree, foreign birth certificate or divorce/custody decree are accepted as well. If you’re bringing any of the latter three, you’ll need additional proof of identification. Parents are required to show proof of identification anyway, so come with a driver’s license, domestic or foreign passport, certificate of naturalization or citizenship, a Mexican matricula consular, or U.S. military or U.S. government employee I.D.

Finally, make copies of every piece of identification you’ve selected for both yourself and your child. You’ll need to show the originals, but provide copies of each document in order for the passport to be processed. No copies, no passport.

2. Take your kid’s passport photo

The easiest option is to type “passport photo” and your zip code into Google and get the photo taken and printed in one shot. If you’d prefer to take the photo yourself, just be sure it meets all of the requirements and is printed on 2-inch by 2-inch film.

For an infant or newborn, the U.S. Department of State recommends you lay a white blanket over a car seat and take a picture of the child in the car seat. The baby’s head will be supported without the aid of a hand, which would disqualify the photo.

3. Decide who will take your child to apply in person

Both parents have to give consent for a child to obtain a passport. One way to do this is for both parents to accompany the minor for applying for the passport in person.

But if one parent or both cannot go, fill out a consent form. If you have sole custody, you’ll need to show evidence. There are different forms for different situations, such as if neither parent can appear or you simply cannot locate one parent. Just be sure you have a consent form filled out in advance of heading over to apply, because your request to process a passport will be denied without it.

4. Fill out a passport application form

The form can be found on the Department of State passport website. Fill it out in its entirety and head over to a passport acceptance facility. Some post offices can do the job, but the best way to find out is to search by your zip code on the U.S. Department of State’s website. Then go with the child and all of the supporting documents.

If time permits, be strategic about when you apply.

“January is a great month to apply for a passport ― faster than any other time of year, post-Christmas and before the summer rush,” O’Shaughnessy’s team of travel experts suggested.

You’ll need to pay in person as well. A passport book costs $80. A passport book and card together cost $95. There is always an additional $25 processing fee. Some locations accept only check or money orders, others accept cash and yet others permit payment by credit card. A quick call in advance will save you from hitting a roadblock at the last minute.

It usually takes 6-8 weeks for a passport to be processed and mailed back to you. Estimates for expedited delivery (at higher cost) are 2-3 weeks, and rush orders can take eight business days.

And then get ready to head out of town. Research shows that anticipation is the best part of traveling, anyway.

This Toddler Had A 'Golden Girls'-Themed Birthday Party

Jessica Lewis’ daughter Elisa has always loved “The Golden Girls” ― though as a toddler, she hardly understands anything that happens in the show.

“I would watch them every time I nursed her so I think the sounds of their voices and that iconic theme song comforted her,” Lewis told HuffPost. “In fact, the only way I could often calm her down would be singing the theme song for her or playing an episode from our DVR. Her favorite to listen to would be the episode where they sing ‘Mr Sandman.’ One time, she woke herself from a deep sleep to dance to the theme song.”

So when it came time to plan Elisa’s second birthday party, the mom had the perfect theme in mind.

The toddler’s “Golden Girls” birthday party took place last October at their home in Arizona.

Lewis tried to incorporate elements of the show in almost every part of the celebration ― from the invitations to the cheesecake desserts. The mom printed photos of the four ladies and even added Elisa’s picture and name to a banner with the opening credits.

“I had pictures of each Golden Girl with the food that would describe them,” Lewis said. “For instance, we had ‘Better than Mama Celeste’s Pizza’ for Sophia. I even found a website featuring food Rose Nylund would make from St. Olaf. We had Sparhearven Crispies. They were delicious.”

The party colors were mint green and pale pink to reflect Blanche’s bedroom wallpaper. There was a photo area with a frame that said “Picture it: Elisa’s party 2016.”

The mom also found “the most 80s piece of artwork” in her parents’ house and added the words “Thank you for being a friend” to display at the party. And she made shirts for all of their family members with different quotes from the show.

Lewis’ shirt said “Back In St. Olaf” while Elisa’s said, “Shady Pines, Ma!”

Lewis said the party guests enjoyed the unconventional theme and the fact that Elisa was such a fan of the show.

“Elisa is loving, feisty, knows what she wants, whimsical, and funny!” the mom told HuffPost “She is quite like Sophia Petrillo herself. I always say she is like a little old lady. She loves to have fun and wants the world to know she is here.  She is talkative. She loves to dance. She completes our family in every way possible.”

Lewis hopes people who read about Elisa’s party think it’s funny and charming. She also hopes it encourages people to think outside the box with birthday themes.

“Anything can be turned into a party!” the mom said. “If your child loves something, no matter how random it is, it should be celebrated. We should cherish the uniqueness in our kids and I hope that people see that is what I tried to do.”

The Sunscreens Top Derms Really Use Every Day

$

Of all the skin-care products we use, sunscreen is the most powerful — and perhaps the most scrutinized. To pass the basic buy test, it must be broad spectrum, SPF 30 or higher, and absorb without feeling greasy. One must decide between physical and mineral options and think about water resistance, too. And those considerations are just the start — after all, sunscreen is one of the only shields we have against premature aging from sun damage and skin cancer. But there’s one thing that even the most discerning of beauty nerds don’t know about SPF: which formulas the top dermatologists use on their own complexions.

So we polled a few of our favorites, and we were surprised by what we found. For one, the priciest sunscreen isn't necessarily the best sunscreen. In fact, a few of our pros swear by easy-to-find drugstore brands. Another big reveal? Derms are just like us — they want tinted, quick-to-absorb formulas that look and feel as good as they perform. See their favorite picks, along with a few of our own, ahead.

*All prices listed are in CAD.

"Believe it or not, my favorite sunscreen is Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch SPF 55," says Jessica Krant, MD, dermatologist and assistant clinical professor of dermatology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. "The texture is rich enough that it keeps my skin moisturized but dry enough that it applies with a matte, almost foundation-like finish. I can use it alone without additional moisturizer or makeup, and it has Neutrogena’s high-quality, stable Helioplex formula that I trust."

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen, $18.24, available at Amazon.

"I use EltaMD UV Physical Broad-Spectrum SPF 41," says Debra Jaliman, MD, dermatologist and author of Skin Rules. "It is lightly tinted, contains antioxidants, and has a high concentration of zinc oxide (9.0%). Plus, it's water resistant for up to 40 minutes."

EltaMD UV Physical Broad-Spectrum SPF 41, $41.89, available at Amazon.

— PAID —

"Due to my acne-prone skin, I need an SPF that's lightweight and doesn't clog my pores," says Audrey Noble, Refinery29's associate beauty editor of brand experiences. "This lotion hydrates my skin without making it oily, which is a huge win in my book."

Burt's Bees Skin Nourishment Day Lotion SPF 15, $17.00, available at Amazon.

"I like this fella from Dr.Jart+," says Mi-Anne Chan, Refinery29 beauty writer. "It's oxybenzone-free (meaning it won't contribute to the downfall of our coral reefs) and protects with an SPF of 50. The best part? Most sunscreens feel like, well, sunscreen (read: greasy, thick, and generally unappealing), but this one feels like moisturizer and sinks in super fast."

Dr.Jart+ Every Sun Day UV Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50, $91.08, available at Amazon.

"I love that this is a high-SPF physical blocker that gives you the heavy-duty protection [you need] daily, yet at the same time is so lightweight you hardly notice it's on," says cosmetic dermatologist Shereene Idriss, MD. She also notes that the formula absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave a white cast or residue. "Unlike chemical blockers, it doesn't aggravate and irritate your skin (always a plus). Finally, it comes with just enough tint to help even out my complexion while giving me a hint of radiance. It's just enough for me to start my day without a drop of makeup."

SkinCeuticals Sheer Physical UV Defense SPF 50, $44.20, available at Amazon.

Barack Obama’s Post-Presidency Style Might Be Getting A Little TOO Casual

$

By Max Berlinger for GQ.

Free from the nonstop demands of being America’s president, Barack Obama has spent the past few months flexing some seriously stylish off-duty civilian looks, perhaps to the chagrin of a nation quickly coming undone. But the man has more than earned the right to put on some board shorts and live in a wardrobe of nothing but white polo shirts. It wasn’t even until Obama left the White House for good that we learned his dorky dad style was nothing more than an elaborate act to suppress his inner style god (though we had our suspicions).

Now that Obama’s back from his extended vacation, 44 is getting back to business, giving speeches and getting dressed up again (like really dressed up, as demonstrated yesterday when he looked dapper in a tuxedo to accept his “Profiles in Courage” award — and ever so gently suggest that, uh, Trumpcare is an unmitigated disaster). We were off to a good start.

RELATED: Donald Trump and the Republicans Accidentally Ensured President Obama’s Legacy

Then today, Obama showed up at Seed & Chips: The Global Food Innovation Summit in Italy in the most casual of business-casual outfits. The former commander-in-chief left two buttons undone on his collared shirt, leading to a whole lot of open real estate in the chest region. Fabio would be proud, but us? Not so much. Sure, menswear’s hardline rules have softened in recent years, leaving plenty of room for swerves in a professional man’s wardrobe, but some things never change. To wit, if you’re going to wear a suit but go tieless, one undone button (and a shirt with a nice, stiff collar) is kinda the unspoken mandate, even if nowadays some style-savvy guys will go with, well, no buttons done.

But when you were once the leader of the free world and you’re speaking at an international summit about serious global initiatives and you’re over the age of, say, 26, and you are neither a pop star nor a hip-hop legend, we’d suggest leaving only the top button undone at most (better yet, throw on a tie). There’s a skin-to-seriousness ratio that’s being broken here, which is important to consider if you’re giving a big speech on a global stage or just headed into the office on casual Friday.

Barack Obama Is Morphing Into A Movie Star. We've Got Proof.

Barack Obama was a pretty cool president, as presidents go. Remember when he literally dropped the mic, drank beers with Anthony Bourdain in Vietnam and sang “Let’s Stay Together” at the Apollo Theater? Remember thinking there’s no possible way he could ever get any cooler?

Well, you were wrong. As of Tuesday, he officially surpassed his cool factor when he arrived in Italy dressed like a bonafide movie star.

The former president is in Milan to deliver a speech on climate change, but was dressed like the epitome of chill with his top buttons unbuttoned and no tie ― a look that’s become his aesthetic of late ― and a pair of sunglasses.

In fact, he reminded us a lot of one certain Italy-loving movie star in particular: George Clooney. The outfit, the location ― it all screams Clooney.

Are we really surprised, though? Michelle Obama herself confirmed last June what we always knew to be true: Obama has always been “swagalicious.”

Sigh. If only his cool could literally affect this warming planet.

This Shopping Mall Introduced Breastfeeding Mannequins

A shopping mall in Colombia unveiled special mannequins to promote breastfeeding awareness.

According to a report from Ruptly, Bogotá’s Centro Mayor, the largest shopping mall in Colombia, introduced breastfeeding mannequins in several stores in April as “part of initiative to change attitudes about breastfeeding in public.”

The mall shops are just some of the retail stores across Bogotá that participated in the campaign.

The breastfeeding mannequins initiative is the brainchild of Amigos de la Lactancia (Friends of Breastfeeding), a movement to support mothers who have been shamed for breastfeeding in public.

@mamaternity ya hace parte de los #AmigosDeLaLactancia. ¡Tú también puedes unirte a esta iniciativa!

According to UNICEF, only about 49 percent of newborns start breastfeeding after birth in Colombia. By contrast, the breastfeeding initiation rate in the U.S. is about 81 percent.

While the Ruptly report shows mixed attitudes toward nursing in public in Colombia, perhaps the awareness campaign will lead more people to take the pledge to be a “friend of breastfeeding.”

Why You Should Be Cautious About The 23-Karat Gold Face Cream At Sephora

$
0
0

Like many pricey products, the latest best-selling moisturizer at Sephora may be more hype than help.

Tatcha’s The Water Cream is reportedly Sephora’s top-selling moisturizer after selling out twice in just about a month, no doubt boosted by Instagram beauty influencer endorsements. According to the product description, the cream uses Japanese wild rose, Japanese leopard lily and an “anti-aging trinity of green tea, rice, and algae” to boost skin’s appearance, while a dash of 23-karat gold “imparts a subtle, shine-free glow.”

Using the cream feels “like splashing water onto your face” because it has a “unique delivery system that bursts when it comes in contact with your skin, releasing a cooling sensation,” Refinery29 reports.

At $68 for 1.7 ounces, this gold-kissed cream is currently back in stock on Sephora.com. Although online reviews at the retailer have so far been largely positive, dermatologists told HuffPost there are several reasons to be cautious about using it.

Many doctors say gold won’t irritate most people’s skin ― it is an antioxidant, though not the most effective one ― but any glow you may get from gold-infused makeup or cream likely doesn’t come from the metal. Instead, it probably comes from the product’s other ingredients, according to New York City dermatologist Tabisum Mir

“The price of gold in skin care is never worth it,” said Mir. “There are far better antioxidant alternatives available for anti-aging.”

Janellen Smith, a dermatology professor at the University of California Irvine, agreed the metal likely isn’t doing much for your skin.

“Gold sounds sexy, but there can’t possibly be much [in Water Cream], because gold costs over $1,000 an ounce,” she added.

What’s more, the botanicals and fragrance like those in Water Cream ― and many other skincare and makeup products ― can cause contact dermatitis in people who have sensitive skin or are allergic, said Marie Jhin, a dermatologist at California Pacific Medical Center. Symptoms of these adverse reactions include rashes, itching and swelling.

Add gold to the mix, and Smith says the cream is not worth the risk

“Both gold and botanicals are allergens, and there is potential for people to develop an allergic reaction,” said Smith, adding that “the best thing for skin is a good sunscreen, and I don’t see this [in the Water Cream].”

A Tatcha spokeswoman told HuffPost the company’s own testing shows Japanese wild rose extract “improves the appearance of pores,” but Jhin said no published research shows it can hydrate skin or help with so-called flaws like large pores.

If you don’t have sensitive skin, botanicals like green tea may be beneficial, Jhin said, because some research suggests they have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties while protecting skin from sun damage.

But in general, it’s best to opt for moisturizers with simpler formulas to decrease your overall chances of irritation, says John Hanifin, a dermatology expert at Oregon Health and Science University. He recommends Cerave and Cetaphil to his patients.

Tatcha said their lab tested the cream’s wild rose extract on real people with no adverse results.

“Every formula from Tatcha is a labor of love and developed by leading Japanese skincare scientists at the Tatcha Institute,” a spokeswoman said. “Like all of Tatcha’s formulas, The Water Cream is developed and dermatologist-tested to be non-irritating, non-sensitizing and non-comedogenic.”

While the Water Cream and other fancy products may not bother those whose skin isn’t easily irritated, there are certainly cheaper options that can moisturize equally well. As in all beauty choices, it’s wise to weigh your options before making a purchase.

Even North West's Time Outs Are Hilariously Luxurious

North West isn’t necessarily what you would call the average kid. But when she acts out ― and she’s not busy helping design her parents’ clothing line for children or having her hair done by celebrity stylists ― she is still sentenced to time outs like regular kids.

Or is she? Kim Kardashian posted a photo of the 4-going-on-45-year-old on Instagram Tuesday that shows that even the most mundane aspects of her childhood are totally luxurious.

“That time North gets a time out & is a little too quiet... I go in her room to check on her & she’s in the bathroom, made her own spa & tells me she’s chilling out ,” Kardashian West captioned a photo of North relaxing with a towel over her body and face.

To be fair, hanging out at a spa seems like a pretty solid way to take some time for yourself. To also be fair, West is four.

Like mother, like daughter, eh?

Amy Schumer Says It's Other People Who Need To Accept Her Body, Not Her

It seems like everyone has way too much to say about Amy Schumer’s body ― except, refreshingly, Schumer herself.

Perhaps that’s why the topics of body image and self-love took up much of the “Snatched” star’s recent interview with Refinery29. With her trademark confidence, Schumer addressed her recent InStyle swimsuit cover and the controversy that arose when a swimsuit designer suggested Schumer shouldn’t wear a bathing suit.

“I’m not like rolling around in bed going ‘Yaaas,’ but I think I can feel great,” Schumer said. “I can be feeling myself! Like I shot that InStyle cover and I was really feeling myself that day. I think that sort of acceptance... when I see myself in this movie, in a bathing suit, I’m fine. There’s nothing for me to get over. This is my body. This is my face. This is it. I don’t strive for this other version.

“I want to be healthy,” she continued, “and my weight fluctuates and whatever, but... I feel like other people need to work on accepting my body. Or not! People need time to decide how they feel about my body. I don’t think about my body. I want to be healthy.”

Schumer concedes that she feels “really lucky” for her deep-rooted self-confidence and feels bad for young women “growing up with all this social media and stuff.” But we could all learn a thing or two from Schumer’s relationship with her own body, and our relationships with other people’s bodies ― in that those latter relationships need not exist.

Head to Refinery29 to read the entire interview.

Ashley Graham Must Be Going After A Record Or Something

Ashley Graham is a woman of extremes these days: Either she’s wearing nothing at all, or changing four times in one day.

At least, that’s what she did for a jam-packed marathon of appearances promoting her book A New Model: What Confidence, Beauty, and Power Really Look Like in New York City Tuesday. Graham did the morning show rounds as well as a book signing in four equally show-stopping looks. Sticking to form-fitting silhouettes and neutral tones, she took the streets by storm, dropping undergarment tips for fans on Instagram along the way.

She even wore what appears to be the same corset belt on three of the four looks. We’re not sure that counts as outfit repeating, but we’ll take it. Color us impressed (in a neutral, obviously), and check out her sartorial sweep below.

A powerful Mother’s Day ad is celebrating the strength of moms.

In honor of the mom-centric holiday, the workwear brand Carhartt released a video that pays homage to hardworking mothers in roles as farmers, builders, mechanics and more.

“We made this film because when you work at Carhartt you’re constantly inspired by strong women on a daily basis ― from the women who work in our own factories in Kentucky and Tennessee to the women who wear our jackets and bibs on the farms, ranches and high rises of America,” the YouTube description states.

“While the film is certainly an ode to moms everywhere, it’s meant for any woman, man or child, who comes from a strong woman,” it adds, along with the hashtag #AllHailMom.

Here’s to all the strong mamas!

Tiffany & Co. Has A Powerful Message For Donald Trump

Within the next few days, President Trump may make a decision about whether or not to withdraw from the Paris Agreement, a 2015 climate deal brokered between 195 nations to cut greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change. But before Trump comes to a conclusion, Tiffany & Co has an important message for him.

The jewelry company blasted out a statement for Trump on Tuesday, by way of its Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts, as well as an ad in the New York Times.

“Dear President Trump, we’re still in for bold climate action,” the message reads. “Please keep the U.S. in the Paris Climate Agreement. The disaster of climate change is too real, and the threat to our planet and to our children is too great.”

Tiffany strongly supports keeping the U.S. in the #ParisAgreement. #ClimateChange #ActOnClimate #TiffanyCSR

A post shared by Tiffany & Co. (@tiffanyandco) on

The message has over 19,000 likes on Facebook and 69,000 likes on Instagram. The reaction to the statement has been mostly positive:

“Well done Tiffany & Co. Speaking up for the benefit of the world,” one commenter wrote on the company’s Facebook post. “I think many customers world wide would be very happy to continue to buy your jewellery. And yes, I do own many Tiffany products.”

Another added, “Climate change is so much above politics and jewelry! Not only Tiffany, every single brand should be joining this conversation.”

Others tweeted their support:

But some people were torn upset about the brand speaking up:

“So how do you feel about the ecologically destructive strip mining of diamonds, gems and precious metals? Or maybe the highly unethical business practices of DeBeers? Can you certify that every diamond you sell is not funding terrorism or oppressing communities? Those who live in crystal cages should not be throwing shade....,” a critic wrote on Instagram.

A Facebook commenter added, “Well this is certainly not going to make me want to buy me a Tiffany key or heart necklace. Not that I could anyways now that my Obamacare premium is $1200 a month for me, my husband, and 12 year old child. Good luck with being political.”

Anisa Kamadoli Costa, chief sustainability officer at Tiffany & Co, provided HuffPost with an emailed statement about why the brand was speaking up:

“As part of Tiffany & Co.’s commitment to sustainability, we support the global movement to act on climate change. Using our brand to advocate for this important issue – in addition to Tiffany’s long-term goal of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 – is one of the most important actions we can take. Tiffany has long recognized the importance of protecting our fragile planet for future generations, and our aspiration is to leave behind a world that is as beautiful and abundant as the one we inherited.”

Considering Trump reportedly named his daughter, Tiffany, after the store, we imagine the president won’t be too happy with this statement.

Scientists Think They've Found The Cause For Gray And Balding Hair

We’re of the firm belief that gray hair is gorgeous, and so too is a bald head. Whether you feel the same way or not, a recent scientific breakthrough will turn everything you know about hair on its head.

Researchers at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center recently figured out which skin cells are at the root (ha) of hair and pigmentation loss. The study, which was performed on mice and intended to find out how some tumors form, ended up shedding light on why people bald and go gray.

According to the study, stem cell factor or SCF, is a protein “essential for hair pigmentation.” When it’s not present, hair turns gray or white. While the scientists already knew that, these findings show what happens “after those stem cells move down to the base, or bulb of hair follicles and which cells in the hair follicles produce SCF.”

The study stated that researchers can now look further into why we age in general, but according to associate professor of dermatology Dr. Lu Le, it also means there could be a cure for gray hair somewhere in the future.

“With this knowledge, we hope in the future to create a topical compound or to safely deliver the necessary gene to hair follicles to correct these cosmetic problems,” Le said.

We’ll be here scrolling through these gorgeous gray-haired women until then, thank you very much.

Teen Shows Up To Prom In A Coffin (And Lives To Tell About It)

She was dying for attention.

New Jersey teenager Megan Flaherty knows how to make an entrance at her senior prom ― by pretending it’s her end.

The 17-year-old Flaherty showed up to Pennsauken High School’s junior prom Saturday night in a hearse.

She really shocked the crowd when she stepped out of a coffin looking, dare we say, drop-dead gorgeous.

Flaherty’s reason for the morbid entrance?

“I like being different,” she told NJ.com.

It was also a tip of the hat to her future career as a funeral director, which is an idea she picked up from a close family friend.

The friend owns a funeral parlor ― and the hearse that drove Megan to the prom ― and Megan has done odd jobs for him, such as vacuuming the viewing area and handing out prayer cards.

Megan’s mom, Susan Flaherty, admits not everyone is dying to come to prom in a coffin.

“It’s not for everyone ― death is a touchy thing,” Flaherty told Inside Edition. “Some people are afraid of it, but that is her chosen profession, and she was celebrating what she wanted to do with her life after high school.”

Not everyone agrees with the Flahertys, based on the comments on the YouTube prom video below.

One person called the stunt, “Attention seeking at its worst,” the Sacramento Bee reports.

One woman said it was “classless, tasteless, and insensitive” adding, “I am not surprised her goal is to be a funeral director. When she applies for the job, I am betting more than one funeral home will reject her for mocking the dead.”

The internet shame storm got so bad that her mother felt obligated to address the haters on Facebook. In a comment that has since been removed, Flaherty noted that her daughter meant “no disrespect” and was simply celebrating her post-school career dreams.

For Teen Vogue, by Alyssa Hardy.

Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Zayn Malik, Jay-Z and more.

Beyonce’s tour merch reveal yesterday had us thinking about just how far we’ve come since the days of stale t-shirts with an artist’s face and a list of venues on it. As Business of Fashion reports, several musicians and record labels are starting to use tour merchandise as a major part of their marketing and sales strategy. Now, the clothing is almost as covetable as the albums and concert tickets themselves.

Tour merch used to be reserved for super fans clamoring to get an item that could someday be a relic of our culture. Today’s concertgoers are shopping tour merch because it’s stylish. Take Selena Gomez’s sports bras with Calvin Klein-inspired logo bands, or the Boycott Beyoncé t-shirts that trended on Twitter last night. And when Kanye West launched the Life of Pablo pop-up store in New York City, people lined up around the corner for a chance to snag one of the coveted shirts.

With all the epic concerts happening in the next few months, you could build an entire wardrobe out of this summer’s tour merchandise alone. Click through the slideshow to see when and where you can get your hands on tour merch from today’s hottest artists.

We’ve all seen “distressed” jeans before, but this “destroyed” sneaker takes shabby chic to a whole new level.

Neiman Marcus is selling $1,425 “Future Destroyed High-Top Sneakers” from luxury designer Maison Margiela on its website, and it the shoes completely live up to their name. The men’s sneakers are so mangled and dirty, they look like they previously moonlighted as a chew toy for dogs.

Considering Maison Margiela outfitted Katy Perry in this design for the Met Gala, the shoes are right in line with the house’s avant garde-inspired style:

The description for the shoe is hilarious, calling it “highly distressed.” But look at all of its features!

  • Leather and textile upper

  • Round toe

  • Lace-up front with side lace guards

  • Logo patch at tongue

  • Padded collar

  • Cushioned heel counter

  • Rubber outsole

Who needs fresh kicks when these distressed ones have a cool patch and a cushioned heel? Hurry if you’d like to buy a pair, as it appears there are only two sizes left.

If those shoes aren’t quite your style, Maison Margiela is also offering another interesting pair of shoes, called the Pollock Paint-Splatter sneaker. Though they sort of look like a pigeon Jackson Pollock-ed on them, they’re “only” $595.

If you’re interested in purchasing any of the shoes, we suggest wearing them with these $425 Nordstrom jeans that are covered in fake mud OR these delightful mom jeans with clear plastic kneecaps

For 60th Anniversary, Great-Grandma Tries On Wedding Dress And It Fits

Sixty years after her wedding, Janith Goedde still fits into the dress she wore when she married her husband Joe back on May 11, 1957 in Haubstadt, Indiana.

On April 30, the Goeddes were gathering with family and friends to celebrate their upcoming 60th anniversary when someone jokingly mentioned that Janith should try on her wedding dress, which had been sitting up in the attic for years.

“She recently lost 40 pounds and it definitely shows!” the couple’s granddaughter Alison, 23, told HuffPost. “So after the 60th anniversary celebration, they went back to their house with a few of the family members. She had the dress in her attic upstairs so one of her kids went and got it and she tried it on.”

"It was a little tight,” Janith told Good Morning America of the Chantilly lace gown. “I didn’t lose that much [weight]. It’s still in good shape. It’s still white and I had it in a plastic bag. I didn’t preserve it at all.”

After seeing her in the dress again after all these years, Joe told Good Morning America, “She still looks beautiful.”

Alison told HuffPost that her grandparents have served as relationship role models for her.

“I have been taught so many things about how to love unconditionally from Grandpa Joe and Grandma Jenny. Most importantly is to pray together. They pray the rosary every day after they eat lunch ― it’s so inspiring,” Alison said.  “We are a big and blessed family.”

Below, more photos from the couple’s anniversary celebration:

Prince Of Norway Gives Dabbing The Royal Seal Of Approval

Just when you thought dabbing was on its way out of fashion, a young European royal pulls it back in.

Prince Sverre Magnus of Norway broke with protocol Tuesday when he busted out the dance move during the 80th birthday celebrations of his grandparents, King Harald V and Queen Sonja.

The 11-year-old was appearing with other royals on the balcony of Oslo’s Royal Palace when he cheekily dropped his head into the crook of his right arm and raised his left arm out straight.

Video also shows the boy, who’s third in the line of succession to the Norwegian throne, making funny faces and the “V for victory” sign as other younger royals look on.

As the footage goes viral, it’s unclear what the older royals thought of his antics.

However, his dabbing came on the same day that his father, Crown Prince Haakon, pranked guests at a palace banquet. He left the table midway through the meal, shaved his beard, and returned to see if anyone would notice.

Prince Sverre’s dabbing may be gaining global attention, but he isn’t the first royal to get caught dabbing.

That honor appears to go to British royal Prince Harry, who dabbed in front of children at a youth sports initiative in Aberdeen, Scotland, last September.
