Kate Middleton Does Something Seriously Impressive In Australia

$

At this point, it's no secret that we're obsessed with pretty much all of Kate Middleton's looks from the New Zealand/Australia royal tour. She has wowed us in everything from her casual DVF wrap dress to that gorgeous, embellished Jenny Packham number.

But now, she's really gone above and beyond -- and we don't just mean with her outfits. We're talking about putting on her Stuart Weitzman wedge heels and a mini white Zimmermann dress ... then walking (and from the looks of it, JOGGING) through the sand.

We have a hard enough time walking in sand without shoes on, and somehow the duchess makes it look easy with wedges? It's just not fair.

Also, does anyone else feel like they're watching the classiest episode of "Baywatch" ever?

Check out the look -- and the talent below.

Emma Stone Gushes About Jennifer Lawrence

Emma Stone is a huge fan of Jennifer Lawrence, and who can blame her?

The "Amazing Spider-Man 2" star gushed about the Oscar-winning actress during an interview with U.K. fashion blog Stylist. The topic of Lawrence came up when Stone was asked about the hilarious shout-out she got from the "Silver Linings Playbook" star on the red carpet at last years' Oscars.

"Well, I just think she’s great, isn’t she?" Stone said. "She is so inspiring to me, and I am so grateful that she exists in the world, as someone who is authentic and who has not bent to fit any idea of what a woman should be like in that kind of position. And she is so talented. I am just so happy that she is around for women everywhere. It’s just fantastic."

Having role models in an industry that isn't always necessarily encouraging of females is important for Stone.

"There are a lot of really brave women in the industry right now, who are daring to be themselves and not fit into this stupid ‘actress’ mold, and that’s really inspiring," she added while discussing how the industry could be improved for women. "So yeah, a lot of things can change and I think a lot of people are beginning to accept change, in lots of different mediums, which I’m really happy about. I hope I can harness some of that, in some way."

Stone is currently promoting "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," due in theaters May 2.

How To Save Your Skin One Snack At A Time (VIDEO)

Could a snack a day keep the dermatologist away? Board certified dermatologist Dr. Whitney Bowe says that by eating certain foods, you can reduce the skin inflammation that may be causing us to look older.

"Inflammation is a major player when it comes to aging," Bowe says on the "OWN Show" web series. "Oxidative stress and free radicals can actually damage the molecules in the skin. They can damage things like protein or collagen, they can damage DNA and they can damage lipids over time as well."

While short bursts of inflammation help the body fight infection, chronic, low-levels of inflammation can wreak havoc on the skin.

To reduce inflammation, Bowe says there are a couple options. "You can actually add antioxidants topically, in the form of say a serum or a cream," she says. "Or you can add antioxidants to your diet by including multiple colored fruits and vegetables."

Also shown to reduce inflammation in the skin are probiotics, Bowe says.

"So simply eating a cup of yogurt that has the words 'live active cultures' on the label once a day can actually help to reduce inflammation in the skin over time," she says.

5. Holiday Recipe: On Easter Sunday, treat your family and friends to these delightful little French delicacies --

Rose scented macaroons filled with fresh raspberries and a white chocolate crème:

macaroons

Ingredients:

-116g icing sugar
-85g ground almonds
-2 large free-range eggs
-A pinch of salt
-50g caster sugar
-1 tsp. rose water
-Red or pink food coloring

For the Filling:

-80g white chocolate
-1/2 vanilla pod, seeds scraped out
-80g cream cheese
-50g crème fraiche
-150g fresh raspberries

Method:

1. Preheat the oven to 160•C/fan 140•C/gas3

2. In a food processor, whizz the icing sugar and ground almonds into a fine mixture, then sift into a bowl.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt into soft peaks and then gradually whisk in the caster sugar until thick and glossy.

4. Carefully stir through the rose water and enough food coloring to give a lovely bright red/pink color.

5. Fold half the almond and icing sugar mixture into the meringue.

6. Add the rest of the icing sugar, making sure you use a metal spoon to cut and fold the mixture until it is shiny and has a ribbon like consistency as it falls off the spoon. Pour the mixture into a piping bag fitted with a plain 1cm nozzle.

7.Line 2 baking sheets with baking paper. Pipe small rounds of the macaroon mixture, about 3cm across onto the baking sheets. Of course you can make them any size you want, from mini petit fours to giant sized macaroons. I decided to make large rose macaroons, so instead of a 3cm diameter; I piped a 5cm diameter onto the baking tray. Give the baking sheets a sharp tap on the work surface to ensure a good "foot," or base to the macaroons. Leave them to stand at room temperature for about an hour to form a slight skin. You should be able to touch them lightly without any mixture sticking to your fingers.

8. Bake the macaroons for 15-20 minutes, until crisp and not too colored. Slip the baking paper with the macaroons onto a slightly damp work surface. After a few minutes, peel the macaroons carefully away from the baking paper and allow to cool on a rack and dry out a little before filling.

9. To make the filling, melt the chocolate with the vanilla seeds, and in a separate bowl, mix the crème fraiche and the cream cheese together. Once the chocolate has melted, add the it to the cream cheese/crème fraiche mixture and beat together. Leave to set for ten minutes before transferring to a piping bag.

10. When the macaroons and filling have cooled, pipe a small amount of the filling onto half of the macaroons, then top each one with another half macaroon. Gently press together and chill for 30 minutes before serving.

Lorde's Nose Wasn't Photoshopped, Canada's Fashion Magazine Claims

If you haven't figured it out by now, Lorde really doesn't enjoy being Photoshopped.

The 17-year-old pop star took to Twitter on April 16 to express her disappointment with Canada's FASHION magazine, which she claims gave her a digital nose job.

lorde photoshop

Lorde isn't the only one to suspect some serious airbrushing was applied to her face for the magazine's May 2014 issue, but the Editor-in-Chief Bernadette Morra, denies the publication gave the New Zealand native rhinoplasty courtesy of Photoshop, reports E! News.

"I can assure you, FASHION Magazine did not give Lorde a new nose," Morra said in a statement on April 17. "Sometimes lighting or camera angles can give the impression that things look smaller, larger or different than they really are."

Lorde is quickly becoming one of the industry's most outspoken anti-Photoshop advocates. Previously, the singer took to Twitter to compare two photos of herself during a performance, specifically pointing out that one photo had been airbrushed to the point that her skin was "perfect." This practice is not cool by Lorde's standards, and she wisely reminded the world to "remember flaws are ok."

Lawmakers Introduce Bill To Tackle Misleadingly Photoshopped Ads

$

In an effort to shield young children and teenagers from the damaging effects of photoshopped images, Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) and Lois Capps (D-Calif.) have co-sponsored legislation to reduce the use of misleadingly altered images in advertisements.

“Just as with cigarette ads in the past, fashion ads portray a twisted, ideal image for young women,” Capps said in April. “And they’re vulnerable. As sales go up, body image and confidence drops.”

While the proposal would not implement new regulatory standards, the “Truth in Advertising Act” would mandate the Federal Trade Commission to report on advertisements photoshopped to “materially change the physical characteristics of the faces and bodies of the individuals depicted."

The legislation would also require the FTC to coordinate with health and business experts to develop an ongoing strategy aimed at reducing the use of photoshopped images.

Opponents of the measure view the bill, introduced in March, as a broad and redundant infringement on advertisers' rights, arguing that the FTC already employs existing powers to block blatantly untruthful ads.

“The use of cosmetics and photoshop are widespread practices,” Dan Jaffe of the Association of National Advertisers told Time magazine in April. “It can’t just be the photoshopping that they go after, it would have to be tied to something specific. Are you just going to say that whenever someone photoshops it’s a per se violation? I think that would be going too far.”

LA's Spring Dandy Lions

$

I've always loved spring's rites of passage with vibrant florals bursting of color and alluring scents -- along with it comes the whisper of newness and sometimes the roar of the familiarity. This season it will be a roar -- at least at the LA Zoo.

This spring, the new power couple in town is Hubert and Kalisa, two glorious lions who have just arrived at the Zoo. I couldn't help but fall in love with them. My hunch is you will too. The two 15-year-old tawny blondes from the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle who have been a couple for six years and their presence will fill a void this city has been painfully aware of for the past two years. The LA Zoo lost its beloved Cookie, 23, in 2012 after suffering cancer. She made history four years prior as the first queen of the beasts to undergo laparoscopic heart surgery. She and her male companion Lionel arrived at the zoo in 1997, on loan from the Wildlife Way station above Sylmar. Both had been prior house pets. The majestic fellow died in April 2011, also 23.

Lions can live up to 14 years in the wild and up to three decades in captivity. Cookie, zoo officials say, was known for her own special roar. And when the couple roamed the enclosed terrain together and roared in unison they really drew a crowd.

Kalisa and Hubert just made their public debut on March 28th at the zoo's renovated lion exhibit. Prior to their arrival, guests were always asking zoo officials where the lions were. It is hard to imagine a zoo for a city like L.A. without African lions, a kingdom without a reigning king and queen.

These two are certainly older than the usual spring arrivals. Last year, a 135-pound newborn Masai giraffe Sofie was birthed at the zoo. In 2011 Joey the baby Koala, twin peninsular pronghorns and a desert bighorn sheep were born. Zoo officials have said they've been involved in a program for more than a decade to bring the hoofed mammal Pronghorn from Baja back from the brink of extinction and now the LA Zoo has the distinction of being the first zoo to breed the species. Only 250 are left in the wild.

The zoo is one of the city's overlooked treasures. It was originally called the Griffith Park Zoo when it opened in 1912 about two miles south of the current site. It moved into its current home in 1966. It was upgraded in the 90s and a new director was brought aboard. The Botanical Gardens boast 7,400 plants. There is so much to see and the city zoo needs its citizens to support it. What better time than spring?

There are some great spring activities coming up for families like the Big Bunny's Spring Fling April 18-20 and the Earth Day Expo follows on April 27. Take it from an animal activist who proudly serves on LA's Parks, Recreation and Tourism Commissions and Boards - our new residents are something to roar about.

Here's a peek at the two below:

Rita Ora's Makeup Haul Is Like Nothing You've Ever Seen Before

Rita Ora's red carpet makeup is always so damn perfect. Between her exceptional winged-out liner and immaculate red lipstick, the British babe is flawless.

But we all know it takes a lot of time and products to "#fixthismug," as Ora revealed in a recent Instagram of her massive makeup haul.

The 23-year-old Roc Nation singer managed to squeeze tons of foundations, bronzers, eyeliners, blushes and lipsticks into eight black makeup cases. After zooming in to the Instagram photo and squinting for about five minutes, we were able to spy luxury beauty brands like Chanel, Armani and Dior. But we're pretty sure the Rimmel London ambassador had a few of their best products within her collection.

We don't need a calculator to determine that Ora's makeup haul supersedes the amount of products that the average American woman's makeup bag holds, but we gotta give it up to our girl (or her makeup artist) for keeping things so nice and neat.

This Small Town Guy Landed His Dream Job In The Coolest Way

Bryan Donaldson's career took an unexpected turn last fall, all thanks to Twitter.

Since October 2011, Donaldson, who had been working in IT for the past 20 years, had been tweeting a few jokes a day under the handle @TheNardvark, according to Vulture. His Twitter following quickly grew after he sent out some pretty hilarious tweets:

His tweets got the attention of Alex Baze, head writer and producer of "Late Night With Seth Meyers." When Baze started his search for a talented team of writers last fall, he thought what better outlet to turn to than Twitter?

"If I go to somebody’s Twitter, I can see what he’s been doing the last two years -- you get a much more complete sense of how he writes," Baze told Vulture.

Read the full story at Vulture.

Seth Meyers agreed. At last month's South by Southwest festival, Meyers admitted that when it comes to hiring his staff, he reads their packets and then looks at the last six months of their tweets. If they've only tweeted two jokes a month, he's not as interested.

Meyers and Baze decided to bring the 40-year-old in for an interview, according to Vulture.

Donaldson, who had no connection to the comedy world, flew from Peoria, Ill., to New York City to meet with the them.

"We never stopped to wonder where he was from or what he was doing," Meyers told Vulture. "He just made us laugh."

Sure enough, he landed a job writing for the show.

The "Late Night With Seth Meyers" producers aren't the only ones who turned to Twitter to scout talent. The producers on "Parks and Recreation" used the same method, according to TV Guide. And the biggest Twitter success story is Justin Halpern, who created "S#*! My Dad Says" based on his Twitter feed, and is now working on "Surviving Jack" with executive producer, Bill Lawrence.

"The allure of Twitter for writers is there," Lawrence told the outlet. "It's funny to try and be a joke writer there. I love it."

Students Give Haircuts To Homeless People, Help Them Start Spring Fresh

It's about more than just a haircut.

Students at Vanguard School of Cosmetology, a Paul Mitchell partner school, used their scissors for good Wednesday when they visited the New Orleans Mission, WDSU reported. They provided free haircuts to about 60 men and women who wanted new looks for spring.

"I like it," Dale Lacour told WDSU as he got a haircut. "I mean, it’s very nice for people to come here to the New Orleans Mission. The New Orleans Mission helps out a lot of people."

The students at Vanguard aren't the only ones who realize the value of a good trim.

Last June, an 82-year-old man made headlines when he was banned from giving homeless people in his community haircuts and food in exchange for hugs. Fortunately, Anthony "Joe the Barber" Cymerys was allowed to return to his haircutting duties.

"It's all about inspiring people to do things for the least of our brothers," he said at the time.

You can watch the inspiring video of Vanguard students in action on WDSU.com.

Manilla Mini: How to Transition Your Wardrobe Through Seasons

$

This article was written by Brandhyze Stanley for Manilla.com.

Ready to ditch your winter wardrobe but don't have the budget for a spring makeover? Maximize your wardrobe by transitioning your winter items into the warmer months. Here are some easy ways you can do it. Watch the video here

1. Mix and match

Spring is the perfect time to play with layers, textures and volume. I love pairing a girly spring dress with tomboy accessories, like booties and a jean jacket. Matching a warm, flirty dress with winter booties makes for a pleasingly unexpected combination.

2. Try white

Tired of winter's dark hues? Brighten up your wardrobe by pairing a black winter sweater with white jeans or trousers. This way, you're putting a fresh spin on an item you already own.

3. Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize

Transitioning from season to season is all about accessorizing. For spring, try pairing your dark sweaters and jeans with pops of pastel colors and floral prints. You can take a plain navy dress and give it a spring vibe with a floral print scarf, colorful jewelry and printed shoes.

4. DIY

Spring trends are enticing -- and expensive. Why not have your cake and eat it to by getting crafty? Make a statement with a faux leopard studded clutch.

Teen Suspended For Asking Miss America To Prom

YORK, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania high school student is in hot water for asking Miss America to prom during a question and answer session at school.

Eighteen-year-old Patrick Farves said he received three days of in-school suspension Thursday because he asked Nina Davuluri to prom. The senior at Central York High School stood up and popped the prom question, then walked to the stage with a plastic flower. Davuluri just laughed and the students cheered.

School officials heard about Farves' plan in advance and warned him not to do it. He has apologized for disrupting the event.

The school says students are disciplined for breaking rules and this incident is no different.

Davuluri was at the school to talk with students about diversity and the importance of science, technology, engineering and math studies.

We Want All The Looks Worn By The Stars On This Week's Best-Dressed List

There are really no huge surprises on this week's best-dressed list. You've got Rita Ora shutting down the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards with a stunning look; Beyoncé and Solange Knowles reminding us how fierce they are; Kiernan Shipka proving that even a teenager can outdress Hollywood's biggest stars; and Lupita Nyong'o, who can literally do no wrong in the fashion department.

But this week's top style star honors go to Jamie Chung, who masterfully pulled together an outfit that is pure perfection.

Check out our picks for best-dressed and let us know what you think.

Rita Ora in Barbara Casasola

One word: Flawless.

Jamie Chung in Reese + Riley, Cameo The Label & Elizabeth and James

Throwing on a fabulous dress is easy, but piecing together a praise-worthy ensemble takes skill. Jamie definitely showed off her stellar sartorial chops with this look. We love the black, red and white color combo, that edgy mesh skirt and those killer heels.

Kiernan Shipka in Preen and Jimmy Choo

kiernan shipka

When is the last time you saw a 14 year old serve this much sophistication? Never. This week, the "Mad Men" actress stunned in a sweet pastel printed dress and matching colorblock shoes.

Lupita Nyong'o in Chanel

lupita nyongo

Although Lupita departed from her signature vibrantly hued wardrobe last week, she still managed to land on our best-dressed list. However, we're glad she's back to her bold and beautiful ways. This dress -- with all it's bells and whistles -- can only be worn by a fearless fashionista like Ms. Nyong'o.

Beyoncé in Topshop and Solange in Max Mara

Double the pleasure, double the FAB! It's rare these two ladies hit the stage together, but then they do it's magic. That hair. Those get-ups. We're in love!

The Celebs On This Week's Worst-Dressed List Should Never Wear These Outfits Again

This week's worst-dressed list was filled with moments we'd like to forget. January Jones looked sloppy in a highly unimpressive get-up, while Emma Stone's beauty was overshadowed by a gaudy dress.

However, the worst of the worst was Bella Thorne. The teen star should have steered clear of the hideous light blue dress she donned at the MTV Movie Awards. Better luck next time, Bella!

Check out our picks for worst-dressed of the week, and let us know if you agree.

January Jones

January's clutch says everything you need to know about this look: "BLAH"!

Emma Stone

emma stone

This is a classic case of the dress wearing the woman, and not the woman wearing the dress. Between the padded black neckline, jeweled embellishments and the cape detail, this dress has way too much going on -- so Emma should have just taken it off.

Bella Thorne

bella thorne

One look at this one-sleeved, ruched, bralette-baring design and Bella's fashion fail is totally self-explanatory.

Zoe Kravitz

zoe kravitz

We're glad to see Zoe wear something other than a frumpy black dress, but this ensemble isn't a great alternative. She should have ditched that oversized clutch, white blazer AND that hideous hairdo.

Kim Kardashian

Easter might be this Sunday, but that doesn't mean dressing like a Fabergé egg is a good idea.

A lot of women (and men, for that matter) panic when it comes to aging, but these celebrities prove it's actually much more exciting than it appears to be.

Take Cameron Diaz for instance: The 41-year-old recently opened up to Oprah Winfrey about getting older, explaining that the phrase "anti-aging" infuriates her.

"We don't honor the journey and who we are and how much we have to offer," Diaz said, adding that women can't seem to escape the pressure of looking young. "It's almost as if we have failed if we don't remain 25 for the rest of our lives. Like we are failures … Oh, I'm sorry, I apologize, I wasn't able to defy nature."

But Diaz isn't the only star who makes aging sound exciting. Here are a handful of celebrities who inspire us to embrace getting older:
