How To Keep Your Underarms Razor Burn-Free

$

0
Underarm razor burn ranks high on our list of painful hair removal side effects, right up there with bikini wax stinging. It seems as though no matter how careful we are about shaving our armpits, that throbbing pain inevitably kicks in.

To find out the most common underarm shaving mistakes, we went straight to Dr. Ellen Marmur, a board-certified dermatologist and Dove deodorant spokesperson. Read on for her top five tips to prevent razor burn and bumps.

1. Exfoliate before you shave to prevent ingrown hairs and razor burn.

Everyone's skin is different, so yes, there are some people who experience ingrown hairs more than others, according to Marmur. However, she believes it's also a matter of making sure you thoroughly exfoliate the underarm area before you shave, to prevent the hair from curling under the skin and resulting in an ingrown. This also ensures that flaky skin and oil build-up don't cause your razor blade to stumble as you're shaving, a major cause of razor burn.

2. Toss out your razor after 1-3 uses of shaving your underarms.

Using a dull razor, which requires you to apply more pressure when pressing the blade edge against the skin, often results in irritated skin. Always rinse your razor under warm water in-between shaves, then switch out the blades or grab a new razor as soon as you notice that it's worn down.

3. Stop shaving against the direction of your underarm hair growth.

Instead, Marmur recommends shaving in an "X" motion, as the hair on the underarms grows in a swirl pattern. This will ensure a close shave, without the razor burn, bumps or skin irritation.

4. Keep your underarms hydrated with oils and moisturizing deodorants.

In case you didn't know: the skin under your arm is very similar to the fine skin on your neck, so making sure that area stays hydrated is essential. "Don't be afraid to incorporate oil-based products into your underarm routine. For example, using coconut oil at night before bed will soften the skin and offer a smoother shave in the morning," says Marmur.

Deodorants are also important to apply to ensure underarm skin remains healthy, soft and smooth. "Underarms contain more sweat glands than other areas of your body, and because of this most people experience what I call 'bad moisture,' such as excess perspiration in the underarm region of their body. This kind of bad moisture causes salt, enzymes and other caustic things to disrupt your skin," Marmur says. So she recommends using a deodorant like Dove Advanced Care that protects against sweat and adds "good moisturizers" like humectants and sunflower seed oil to the skin.

5. Visit your doctor if your razor burn and bumps won't go away.

More serious bumps tend to be red and painful, and may actually be a condition known as hidradenitis suppurativa that requires a dermatologist to prescribe antibiotics.

'400 Years Of Hats' Will School You On The History Of Headwear

The Internet has recently seen a swarm of "history of" videos that tell the stories of beauty and fashion trends. Now, thanks to a new video from GQ and The Scene, men's fashion is getting in on the game.

"400 Years Of Hats" is a cheeky, fascinating look back at not only popular hat styles, but where they originated and what made them famous. Many are still fan favorites today, like the fedora, worn by Indiana Jones and Humphrey Bogart, and the baseball cap, which it turns out is just a larger-brimmed take on cricket hats. Others, like the trucker hat and the err, foam cowboy hat, not so much.

Take a step back in time with the video above.

The New Ireland

$
0
0
I had a conversation last year in Finnegan's of Dalkey--a phenomenal Dublin pub where novelist Maeve Binchy used to drink, and Bono now does drink--with an Irish attorney acquaintance. He had read my book of stories Little Bridget and The Flames of Hell, all of which deal in some way with the Irish in contemporary San Francisco, where I live.

San Francisco's Irish community was, and still is, a major element in the culture of the city. As in so many other U.S. cities, the Irish came here in droves in the 19th century. But the diaspora has come upon us once again in the few years since the Celtic Tiger stumbled so badly. A victim of the same muscle-flexing hubris and financial thoughtlessness that almost brought the United States to its knees in 2008, Ireland is only just now beginning to recover. In the intervening seven years, there has been a noticeable increase of young Irish living and working in San Francisco, people in their early to mid-twenties.

My attorney friend enjoyed the stories I had written. He was surprised by the accuracy of my dialog when spoken by an Irish character, given that I had indeed never lived in Ireland. I explained that my knowledge of those conversational idiosyncrasies came from two sources: the kitchens of my mother and her mother (where I had spent so much time as a child listening to them talking and laughing, with their female relatives, at almost everything being said) and the University of California at Berkeley.

The women in those kitchens spoke in ways that seemed simply American to me, always with mid-west Chicago accents. I thought that the way my mother and grandmother told stories was how stories got told in every kitchen in the United States. What I did not realize was that, although their accents were in no way Irish, the idiomatic expressions those women often used were unique to the Irish. That revelation came to me when, as a student at Berkeley, I began reading Brendan Behan, Edna O'Brien, James Joyce, Frank O'Connor and all the others. Those writers worked in a kind of English dialect that I recognized from my mother. The turns of phrase, the wandering humor and laugh-inducing self-deprecation that had come into my own manner of speaking had originally come, I realized, from Dublin and its surround, from Cork City and Galway, where my great grandparents had lived.

But my attorney friend found fault with some of the stories I told in my book. "You're writing about Irish sentiments from the 1950s or 60s, Terry. But not now." He shook his head, his eyes softly observing the Finnegan's pint before him. "No, not now, boy-o."

Because of the duplicitous malfeasance of so many priests in Ireland--those most particularly who sexually attack children, and those who protect the attackers--the Catholic Church has lost its footing in that country. What was, until very recently, the single most repressed Catholic society in western Europe is now thoroughly revising its opinion of the Church. The most recent, and most stunning, example of that revisionism is the vote last month in the Republic of Ireland to legalize same-sex marriage. It is the first country whose entire populace has been asked to vote on the notion, and sixty-two percent of them said "yes".

Ireland, of all places!

When I was writing my book ten years ago, I would no more have predicted such a vote than I would have claimed to be an English aristocrat. So my attorney acquaintance was right. Ireland is not the Ireland we once knew. But I was writing about a community of people who had arrived in San Francisco in the mid-twentieth century, and I now realize that that was an eon ago. The stories are terrific, believe me, but the Irish in Ireland have changed profoundly.

I am more or less devotedly heterosexual. But this same-sex marriage is a grand thing, and God save the Irish for having voted it in.

Terence Clarke's latest novel The Notorious Dream of Jesús Lázaro was published on May 1.

7 New Ways To Use Essential Oils In Your Beauty Routine

Sure, some creams and lotions developed by dermatologists and hair professionals work, but take a quick look at the contents on your favorite jar of $100 miracle potion -- chances are, at least of the few "magical" ingredients included are essential oils.

So instead of dropping major money on products that probably also contain chemicals and harmful additives, get your DIY on. Once you've got your essential oils in hand, it's time to make some magic happen.

One important thing to note: Most essential oils aren't meant to be applied directly to your skin or hair. Instead, mix them with a carrier oil -- coconut, olive, jojoba -- to avoid irritation and boost the hydrating properties of your beautifying recipe.

1. Say "bye" to bumps.

Ugh, acne. Pesky pimples can still plague you as an adult, but you don't have to slather on harsh, irritating acne creams each night. Instead, opt for tea tree oil. The oil naturally kills bacteria, making it the perfect choice to fight acne-causing bacteria. Bonus: It works to fight nail fungus, dandruff, and it can even take the sting out of bug bites. Thyme and calendula oil also work as antibacterial agents on acne, too.

2. Give your hair a drink.

Hair parched? Don't reach for the deep conditioner. Instead, try any of the moisturizing essential oils. One of the best is argan oil--it's full of hair-moisturizing vitamins and fatty acids. Same goes for avocado oil and castor oil.

3. Grow those strands.

Ylang-ylang oil has been used for centuries to both protect hair from salty ocean water and keep it long and strong. Jamaican black castor oil also helps with growth.

4. Brighten your skin--and your day.

Dull skin got you down? Make your face shine as bright as your personality by adding rose hip and jasmine oil to your arsenal. Rose hip oil contains vitamin C and lycopene and is made to rejuvenate the skin, while jasmine is made to help skin elasticity and fade stretch marks.

5. Turn back the clock.

Acid peels? Surely, you jest. Instead, opt for essential oils like geranium, patchouli, and frankincense. Geranium oil has astringent properties that can help tighten aging skin while encouraging skin cell turnover. Patchouli and frankincense have the same anti-aging effects, but they also help control skin oiliness, along with eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis.

6. Block those free radicals.

Beta-carotene and vitamin A found in carrot seed oil both detoxify the skin and promote cell growth. This, in turn, helps block nasty free radicals found in the environment. Some also swear by it as a natural sunscreen, but doctors are split on whether it really can replace your store-bought skin protection.

7. Slough off the dead stuff.

The key to youthful, glowing skin? Exfoliation, exfoliation, exfoliation! Sweet almond oil offers a natural--and non-irritating--way to get rid of dead skin cells. The oil also works to even out skin tone and lighten tough dark spots that come from the sun.

16 Women Show The Beauty In Body Modification

$

Body modification includes anything from piercings and tattoos all the way to surgical augmentations such as implants and injections. Photographer Roger Kisby recently captured some of the many women who proudly sport their bold and downright stunning body modifications.

Kisby just happened to be walking in Las Vegas on June 7 when he stumbled upon the Association of Professional Piercers Conference and Exposition. Though Kisby told The Huffington Post he himself doesn't have any tattoos or piercings, he said he was drawn to the opportunity to highlight the beauty in everyone's differences.

Kisby said he wandered around the convention asking people if he could take their pictures. “People were just really open to getting their photograph taken," he told HuffPost. Many of the people Kisby spoke with at the convention worked in the body modification field at different tattoo and piercing parlors.

“I always like it when people are not afraid to be who they are," Kisby said. "And especially when those people come together who individually out there in the real world have to deal with prejudices, it’s really heartwarming and nice to see people be able to celebrate themselves all together.”

Kisby tried to highlight a broad range of people who have piercings, tattoos and other types of body modification in order to show that "there’s no one type or style of person" at the conference. "I wanted to make sure that I could show each person in their own authentic way," he said.

"The point of this project was not to point and say, 'Look at these people, look at how weird they look,'" Kisby told Refinery29. "It was to show the range of people that practice piercing or do it for a living or are enthusiasts."

Below are 16 images of women and their beautiful, colorful and creative types of body modification.

Head over to Kisby's personal website or Instagram to check out more of his work.

The Tale Of Mrs. Zhu

Zhu Chongyun, the Chinese fashion tycoon who bought you Krizia, talks about herself: from her childhood to her degree in engineering and her dream of becoming a fashion designer. What began with a few yuan became a $400 million business.

2015-06-18-1434654294-4628440-Zhu1.jpg

Born in Hangzhou in 1964, Zhu Chongyun is head of the Marisfrolg group. Top and trousers, Zhuchongyun. Styling Rachele Bagnato, make-up Miriam Langellotti for Lord&Berry, hair Beppe D’Elia for Beautick.

Mrs. Zhu had her back to us. She moved lightly, apparently fragile, a long black braid running down the back of the dress she designed herself. She lead us down a corridor to the mirrored steel room where we were to talk. Then she turned and smileed, as she does often, with the politeness of a master of ceremonies. Pale skin, black glasses, with a simple, classic elegance, she seems painted in watercolors.

Chongyun Zhu was born in Hangzhou 50 years ago, but looks at least 15 yours younger. At the time of the five Dynasties and Ten Kin- gdoms, her city was one of the seven capitals of China. Numbers surround this tycoon, who before discovering fashion wanted to be a scientist, and who according to Forbes has a personal fortune of a billion and a half dollars (making her one the richest individuals in the Celestial Empire). She is the president and creative director of a clothing company, the Marisfrolg Fashion Co., $400 million in revenue, 500 stores and 6,000 employees. Last year Marisfrolg acquired an iconic Italian brand: Krizia (for a reputed $35 million).

2015-06-18-1434654330-4252279-Zhu2.jpg

We met Mrs. Zhu in the historic headquarters of the Milanese fashion house founded by Mariuccia Mandelli, at number 21 Via Manin.

“I’m just trying to be quite ready to meet this challenge. It is not easy in life to have the opportunity to start another adventure, and so I feel fortunate,” she told us with seraphic calm. When I bought Krizia, many said: ‘If you are in such a strong position in China, what makes you want to start again in Italy?’ But for me success is the right launching pad for more success. My basic philosophy is this: slowness is speed. And vice versa. If you have built a solid foundation calmly, you can afford to decide the next moves rapidly. And run."

2015-06-18-1434654361-8975868-Zhu3.jpg

Zhu Chongyun gestured and smiled, creating an empathy that made up for whatever was lost in translation. She spoke in Chinese and a translator helped us to decipher a language that just sounded like music to us.

“I discovered Krizia a little over 10 years ago. It was the first time I had traveled in Europe and I was struck by the design and fabrics. I decided to buy it because of its history of creativity, because it is a noble and feminine brand (the name comes from a Platonic dialogue on vanity, Ed.), but also because I found that its aesthetic tastes were very close to my own. Later, the real surprise came when I opened its archives and discovered a marvelous world.”

2015-06-18-1434654593-6470243-Zhu4.jpg

Animal prints, wide sleeves curved shapes. But the immediate goal, she said, is change with continuity.

“Each brand must remain true to its spirit, but renewal is critical to keep the interest of those who love you. While Kri- zia’s strength lies in its history, its weakness is having stopped for a while. The first thing I did, therefore, was to work on its resources, on the team, on the suppliers. It is an honor for me to be here and I hope in the end that people will say that Zhu did not betray the spirit of Krizia but managed to renew it and make it contemporary.”

Then she added, as if apologizing aloud: “And I was so focused on this challenge that often I only remembered to call my family late in the day, when in China it was already too late.”

Mrs. Zhu has a husband and two daughters and speaks of her family with pride and gratitude.

“I got married at 33, but I had been looking for love, rather like success, for a long time before it finally arrived. The years when you are always falling in love are wonderful, and I think about them with some regret. But I follow my feelings and I did so with my husband. What’s he like? A good, intelligent man, who understands me well and shares my values. My daughters, on the other hand, are dynamic, good at sports and courageous. I see a lot of myself in the choices they make, although at their age China was very different and I had far more rigid limitations to overcome.”

She confessed that as a child she was interested in all sorts of things and was something of a tomboy.

“I enjoyed science: mathematics, physics and chemistry. And I was very good at manual things. What did I dream of? To be chosen one day as a ‘model worker," to be recognized all over the country.”

And fashion? “I wasn’t interested at all. I thought only about studying. But my mother, who had always had a great sense of style, tried to dress me well.”

2015-06-18-1434654633-4785243-Zhu5.jpg

Something changed right after she enrolled in college to study mechanical engineering.

“I didn’t find any clothes I liked, and so, because of those manual skills, I began to buy cloth for a few RMB (renminbi or yuan, literally 'the people’s currency' Ed.) and immediately turned it into skirts and bags. The people around me started asking me where I got my clothes or found my inspiration. So I started designing clothes for others. And I have never stopped.”

In fact, the story is rather longer than that. And it is full of hard choices, of crossroads, but Zhu Chongyun always knew which way to turn. Starting when, degree in hand, she convinced her parents –- teachers from a family of teachers -– to accept that she would not follow in their footsteps. “I asked my mother to let me go and explore the world. I spent my time at university reading newspapers and drinking tea. It was not my life. Of course, in the China of the time, giving up a government job was a strange thing to do, especially for a girl.”

2015-06-18-1434654665-9111303-Zhu6.jpg

There followed years of construction sites and workshops, with Zhu the engineer putting up with unhealthy environments and infernal noise. Then while working in a company in the food sector she discovered management.

“I was in charge of acquisitions, sales and brand image. And in six months, the turnover tripled,” she recalled.

She also discovered a talent for problem-solving. Until the time came for the final change.

“A friend told me about a clothing company in Shenzhen, at the time the promised land for young people looking to make their fortunes. The company was looking for someone who had experience in the sector and a degree in design. ‘You don’t have either of those,’ I told myself. ‘If you fill in the form you’re finished.’ The only thing to do was to talk to the general manager and let him know how much determination and how many ideas I had. So I did and I was hired."

We looked around. The tale of the self-made woman had attracted the attention of her collaborators. She noticed and said: “It has always been important for me to build a culture in my company. We dedicate most our days and our lives to work. So for me it is important to have a healthy environment and, this may be utopian, even a happy one. Making beautiful things is meaningless if we don’t enjoy sharing them with others.”

That is why she is constructing a new, futuristic headquarters in Shenzhen where the spirit of its founder will be translated into a spa and hotel for employees and their relatives. Here in Milan, however, having decided that the Krizia HQ will remain in Via Manin (“It’s a beautiful place”), Mrs. Zhu has tried from the start to make it clear what she means by a team-family.

“Often I cook for everyone, but I shouldn’t say that too loudly because when I am at home I almost never go into the kitchen.”

And how did she see the future? Needless to say, Mrs. Zhu has a ready answer.

“I think I’ll go on working like this until I’m 60, then I’ll try to enjoy life in a different way. I won’t retire from the company, of course, but I’ll no longer be the only one in charge. But I want what I have achieved to be recognized, especially by young peo- ple, to give them hope and get them back to believing in a world of opportunity. Who knows, maybe I’ll end up teaching, just like my parents wanted me to many years ago. Each stage of life is different from the one before: as a little girl I was a tomboy and I wanted to be a scientist, as a young woman I was a romantic engineer, at 30 I was an aspiring manager who designed clothes, and now I am an entrepreneur full of passion. In the future, having neglected my daughters, perhaps I will compensate by being a grandmother. But I also want to travel more, make new friends. I haven’t yet had time to dream the next dream, but I know there is one.”

J. Crew Exec Parties After Layoffs, Brags About Surviving 'Hunger Games'

NEW YORK -- J. Crew, still reeling from a devastating round of corporate layoffs last week, is now facing embarrassment from a top executive.

The New York Post reported Wednesday that Alejandro Rhett, the retailer’s vice president of men’s merchandising, posted photos on Instagram of himself partying just hours after the apparel company laid off nearly 175 workers from its corporate headquarters in Manhattan.

A screenshot of one of the pics shows a caption referencing “The Hunger Games,” the blockbuster dystopian series in which teens compete to the death. The photos apparently have been deleted.

J. Crew on Thursday distanced itself from Rhett's actions.

“We do not condone this behavior,” Margot Fooshee, a J. Crew spokeswoman, told The Huffington Post in an email. “Individuals’ actions do not represent the culture of our company -- this is not who we are.”

She declined to comment on what disciplinary action Rhett may face.

The layoffs followed what CEO Millard Drexler called a "lousy year," hampered specifically by poor sales of women's sweaters. The company slashed nearly 10 percent of its corporate staff.

“It’s just inappropriate that you’d be out drinking when people on your team had been laid off,” an anonymous insider told the New York Post. “J. Crew has serious issues right now, and no one in the office had a smile on their face that day.”

On Facebook, fans were incensed by Rhett's seeming lack of sensitivity.

Rhett personally laid off several workers, the tabloid reported.

“The tough decisions we made last week were not something we took lightly,” Fooshee said. “We do our best to make decisions with care and compassion for all of our associates.”

Rhett did not respond to a request for comment.

Meet Anastasiya, one of the most adorable little humans we've ever seen.

The two-and-a-half-year-old Moscow-based cutie has built quite the Instagram following, most likely due to her baby blue eyes and stylish outfits. The account is run by her mother, Anna Bakhireva, and features photos of the tot in beautiful silk scarves, stylish top knots and teeny tiny sneakers.

While it's easy to assume that little Anastasiya is a model, she isn't and she isn't even that interested in fashion ... yet. However, Bakhireva did tell us her daughter's one weakness: shoes. "She wear[s] Hunters inside the home or her small Uggs in the middle of summer." Looks like this is a girl after our own hearts.

Check out some of our favorite snaps of Anastasiya below, and tell us you aren't melting over all the cuteness.

Kelly Osbourne Posts Photo Of Herself Dressed As Rachel Dolezal On Instagram

Plenty of celebrities have added their two cents to this whole Rachel Dolezal situation, but Kelly Osbourne's response takes things to a whole new level.

The 30-year-old daughter of Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne posted a photo to her Instagram page on Thursday, in which she's dressed to look like the former NAACP chapter president. She captioned the photo, "#CallMeRachel #MyCasualLook."

In the photo, the former "Fashion Police" co-host is clearly emulating Dolezal; she's dressed in a dark blazer and is wearing a curly brunette wig. All we're thinking is, why?

Osbourne's choice to post the pic seems a little off considering all the drama that went down after her former co-host Giuliana Rancic said Zendaya's dreadlocks looked as if they smelled like "patchouli oil" or "weed."

Following the controversy, Osbourne left the show, and just this past Wednesday, Melissa Rivers announced she'd be joining as co-host.

Cara Delevingne Opens Up About Being In Love With Girlfriend

Cara Delevingne may be one of the most public young stars in Hollywood right now -- not only is she photographed all the time, she's also appearing in the much anticipated "Suicide Squad" and "Paper Towns" films -- and despite the heavy tabloid speculations about her love life, she's never provided any confirmation.

In a recent interview with Vogue magazine, the model-turned-actress decided to open up. In the profile, which is featured inside the July 2015 issue, the 22-year-old cover star (who was photographed by Patrick Demarchelier) discusses everything from growing up with depression and anxiety to being in love with musician St. Vincent, aka Annie Clark. At the time of the interview, the Brit was seriously involved with the singer.

"I think that being in love with my girlfriend is a big part of why I’m feeling so happy with who I am these days," she explained. "And for those words to come out of my mouth is actually a miracle."

Delevingne admitted to the magazine that she "felt confused by her sexuality as a child" and the fact that she might be gay scared her.

"It took me a long time to accept the idea, until I first fell in love with a girl at 20 and recognized that I had to accept it,” she explains. “But I have erotic dreams only about men."

She did admit she's terrified by relationships, with men or women.

"Women are what completely inspire me, and they have also been my downfall. I have only been hurt by women, my mother first of all." she said. "The thing is, if I ever found a guy I could fall in love with, I’d want to marry him and have his children. And that scares me to death because I think I’m a whole bunch of crazy, and I always worry that a guy will walk away once he really, truly knows me."

Michelle Obama isn't just serving up amazing style moments while on her European tour. She also made time to surprise pregnant military spouses and active duty servicewomen at a U.S. military base in Vincenza, Italy.

The first lady, who was joined by her daughters Malia and Sasha, pulled off the amazing baby shower with the help of Operation Shower, a non-profit organization that provides baby showers for military families, and Glam4Good, a movement creating positive social change through style. Not only did the ladies get showered with baby essentials, but Mrs. Obama wanted to make sure they were pampered as well.

Thanks to a slew of generous donations from companies including Tommy Hilfiger, H&M, Liz Lang, Alexis Bittar, Dior, and Pangea Organics, just to name a few, each woman got a mini shopping spree styled by Glam4Good founder Mary Alice Stephenson, handbag designer Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger and beauty expert Jessica Richards. The moms-to-be got decked out in stylish maternity clothes, jewelry, sunglasses, beauty products and more.

"The moms were so happy they were in tears, but as soon as they saw all the glamorous accessories, clothing and beauty products it was shop-till-you-drop!" Stephenson told The Huffington Post. "Mrs. Obama even jumped in with a fashion tip or two. How cool is that!"

Here are some photos from the heartwarming surprise party. Sweet, right?

Not a bad early Father's Day gift!

Dylan, 14, and Carys, 12, joined parents Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones on the red carpet for the Genesis Prize ceremony in Jerusalem to support their dad as he received the philanthropic honor. It was a rare public appearance for the young teens, who were perfectly poised as they smiled for family photos at Thursday's event.

The two actors say they prioritize time with Dylan and Carys over their demanding careers. "We try for as much as much as we can for the summer to be with the kids," Douglas told Extra in May.

After separating in 2013, Zeta-Jones and Douglas have since reconciled. "We're back stronger than ever," the 70-year-old actor said in an April "Ellen" appearance.

According to the organization's website, "The Genesis Prize honors individuals who have attained excellence and international renown in their chosen professional fields, and who inspire others through their engagement and dedication to the Jewish community and/or the State of Israel." Douglas accepted the honor and its $1 million prize (this year doubled by a donor to a whopping $2 million) on behalf of his work toward greater "inclusiveness and tolerance" within the Jewish community, Variety reported. The "Ant-Man" actor plans to donate his award money to Jewish charities that work to further that mission.

Sibling Spring/Summer 2016 (Catwalking/Getty Images)

When we saw schlongs on Rick Owens' fall/winter 2015 runway earlier this year, we thought we had seen it all -- literally. Butt we stand corrected.

Over the past couple of days, at both the London Collection Men's spring 2016 shows and Pitti Uomo, a biannual trade show in Italy where upcoming menswear collections are shown, we've spotted some pretty crazy sh*t. Between the butt cracks on the runway at Sibling, Bobby Abley's "Star Wars"-inspired collection and the teeny tiny underwear at Moschino, we can't help but wonder whether these outrageous outfits will really have any influence over men's style. We think we're going to go with a solid NOPE.

Check out the wildest things we've seen come down the catwalk, and join us in scratching our heads.

Neon Underwear: The Go-To Summer Look

$

If you've been in any store this spring/summer, you've probably noticed a big trend in both swimwear and underwear: neon colorblocking. It is the go-to summer look this season - and we cannot get enough of it.

We believe that the perfect combination of neon, while it may not be to every man's taste, is surprisingly versatile and can be a fabulous update to your underwear drawer. And you don't have to have the underwear be neon in its entirety - accent waistbands and splashes of color are on-trend as well.

If you're a shy guy, you may want to stay away from Mundo Unico and Male Power, who have the brightest pairs - but if you're a bit of a show-off, then go for it! You'll enjoy these two brands, especially if you like lime green.

Gregg Homme's Fake-It Boxer Brief and the 2eros Neon Brief try out a single color to add pop to their black pairs. Gregg Homme is especially sexy. The crossed neon blue band enhances your package, which rests in a see-through pouch. 2eros is more sporty in look, with bright pink accents on the waistband and pouch.

Andrew Christian's Trophy Boy Bubble Butt Jock has four rear straps in hot pink for its neon look. Candyman is also provocative, placing their neon colors in the front with orange, pink, and green bands.

No matter what your personality or level of bravado, you're sure to find a pair of neon underwear that fits your look and style this summer.
