We can't stop staring at Teyonah Parris' feature in Bright Ideas magazine.

SCROLL DOWN FOR PHOTOS

There's no denying the "Mad Men" actress is uber talented -- but can we get a moment of silence for her amazing mane! Teyonah rocks her halo of curls in a full blown Afro and fro-hawk for the semi-annual film glossy, invoking some major hair envy on our end.

But the starlet wasn't always a curly girl. Teyonah opened up to Bright Ideas about her days wearing weaves and her journey to becoming au natural.

“It wasn’t just changing my hairstyle for me. It was letting go of a lot of stigmas that I didn’t even realize I held. It’s an emotional and spiritual journey, of letting go of these images that you are told are the standard of beauty and starting to accept who we are and how god made us—and standing and living in that beauty.”

Catherine Zeta-Jones And Morgan Freeman Share Awkward Kiss

Morgan Freeman and Catherine Zeta-Jones accidentally locked lips, The Daily Mail reports.

At the AFI Life Achievement Awards on Thursday night, June 5, the two actors reportedly attempted a traditional cheek kiss, but some spacial misjudging led to the more intimate gesture. They laughed it off and continued to speak with Zeta-Jones' husband, Michael Douglas, who stood nearby.

Zeta-Jones and Douglas took time apart this past August, but have recently been making the red carpet rounds again as a couple.

"We're very close and everything's going great," Douglas told Gayle King on "Entertainment Tonight" about the reconciliation.

Hopefully, a silly little kiss won't get in their way.

Rihanna's Infamous CFDA Dress Inspired By... RuPaul's 'Drag Race'?

In the words of the iconic RuPaul, "We're all born naked and the rest is drag."

rihanna

Rihanna was certainly showing a bit of skin with her stunning gown at the CFDA Awards last Monday -- but what you might not realize is the "Drag Race" connection to the look.

Adam Selman, the dress's designer, Instagrammed this video of his team meticulously putting together the gown before Rihanna's big reveal. And what's blasting in the background? None other than Ru's hit "Glamazon." The designer also tagged @rupaulsdragrace and hashtagged the post #glamazon.

If there's one diva on the scene right now deserving of the title Glamazon, who else could it possibly be but Rihanna?

Risky Sex = Hot Sex?

$

Have you ever had sex in a shark tank? Well you should!

A recent article on Health.com touted "Getting Risky" as one of the best ways to have phantasmagorical orgasms, aka hot sex.

The article suggested hiking (and fornicating) in precipitous climes with your partner as the kind of risk one might take in order to have an orgasmic whopper.

Unfortunately, all this brought to mind for me was the recent story of a bride who promised her new husband "a surprise" while they were hiking and proceeded to push him off a cliff to his death.

I suspect there were no orgasms involved in that particular jaunt.

Then one can't help but think of Monica Bellucci's tryst with Clive Owen in the fantastically awful film Shoot 'Em Up. Clive managed to give Monica an orgasm whilst shooting eight armed assassins.

I've discussed this possibility with my husband Henry, and while he's certainly capable, he just felt the body count was too high.

2014-06-04-YellowCarlongshotPic.jpg

(Sex Columnist David Matteson says "Public Sex" is the hottest, including truck sex.)

In all seriousness, I can't dismiss this risky sex tip out of hand.

Since the onset of the Child Plague, my sex with Henry has been confined to our bedroom after (we hope) our kids are asleep and then, just like Elmer Fudd, we have to be vewy vewy quiet.

Which often leads to Zzzzzzz.

So one night, not too long ago, I decided to take charge of the situation by hiring a babysitter to surprise my husband after the girls' soccer practice (no, not that kind of surprise, you naughty swingers), by giving him a note from me that told him to meet me at the lounge in the Avalon Hotel for drinks.

Oh. "And we don't know each other."

What ensued was an incredibly sexy "first date" between "Paul" and "Crystal."

We got off to a rocky start when Paul decided we'd both been in the porn industry, but managed to get past it.

Crystal had used her earnings as an adult performer to get her two sons through school (even if they think she's their sister, not their mother) and Paul eventually left the producing end of the business to invest in the stock market.

He'd also had an interesting, but painful childhood wherein his father had been one of the first blimp pilots, which was fun, the only trouble being he had a "blimp girl" in every "blimp port," whom Paul referred to as the "Blimpees," which spelled disaster for his parent's marriage.

After dinner Paul and Crystal found their way to a very risky locale to have sex. Which was the back of their minivan parked on Beverly Drive at 11 p.m. on a Thursday.

The whole time (at least three minutes) they feared they'd be busted by Beverly Hill's finest. Which made for the Best. Orgasms. Ever.

Don't forget to sign up for my newsletter!

What risky business will you try? (Remember, "risky sex" does not mean unprotected sex) Don't be shy, the story you tell may help someone else. And go!

One Of The Hottest Designers In Fashion Just Redefined What It Means To Recycle

By Lindsey Coco for GLAM4GOOD

Who knew bottle tops normally thrown in the trash would make the perfect summer accessory? That's right, soda can ring pulls have been turned into must-have bags from one of the hottest designers in fashion.

Narciso Rodriguez's latest collaboration with philanthropic accessories brand Bottletop is redefining what it means to recycle. Rodriguez's exquisitely designed day bag and clutch come in black and blush and are handcrafted in sustainable leather and embellished with soda can ring pulls. The Narciso Rodriguez (heart) Bottletop Collection bags are named after two integral ladies to the brand. 'The Candice' Handbag is named after model Candice Swanepoel, who serves as the face of the campaign, and 'The Jessica' Clutch is named after actress Jessica Alba, who introduced Rodriguez to the foundation.

GLAM4GOOD loves these chic bags and the cause they support as well as Rodriguez's stance on helping others. "I'm proud to support Bottletop's goal to empower women and young people with this exclusive design collaboration," says Rodriguez. "It wasn't something I was looking to do," Rodriguez told Vogue, "but they were giving communities an opportunity to learn a skill and produce something useful and valuable, and they, in turn, teach other people, and an industry is born. It's a great way to help, especially since Brazil is so dear to me."

Upcycled products often sacrifice style, so we think this is one of the best collaborations we've seen. Best of all, profits from Rodriguez's exclusively designed handbags benefit disadvantaged young people through the Bottletop Foundation.

Check out the beautiful and inspiring film by award-winning director Henry Mason, which follows the journey of the creation of The Narciso Rodriguez (heart) Bottletop collection, featuring the people who bring the designs to life and the impact they're having behind the scenes.

Melanie Griffith And Antonio Banderas Split After 18 Years Of Marriage

After 18 years of marriage, Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas are calling it quits, reports TMZ.

Rumors that the couple had split now seem to be a reality as the 56-year-old actress filed for divorce from Banderas, citing irreconcilable differences, according to the the legal documents.

Celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser (Hollywood's go-to woman when a marriage is finally over), has been retained by Griffith. According to the divorce filing, Griffith is asking for child support in addition to sole physical and joint legal custody, of the couple's only child, Stella -- but, as TMZ notes, it will likely be a moot point, since their daughter turns 18 in September.

This is neither Griffith nor Banderas' first rodeo when it comes to divorce: the actress had previously married and divorced actor Don Johnson -- twice -- and was also married to actor Steven Bauer; Banderas, 53, was previously married to a woman named Ana Leza, whom married in 1987 and separated from in 1995, when he began his relationship with Griffith while filming the movie "Two Much."

Request for comment made to the Griffith and Banderas' rep have yet to be returned at this time.

TLC Slams Rihanna For Putting Her Naked Body On Display

Rihanna is pushing back against traditional views of how a woman should display her body, and iconic '90s girl group TLC is not having it.

Members Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas appeared on Australia's Channel 7 show "Sunrise" on Friday, June 6, and expressed their thoughts about the pop star.

"Every time I see you, you don't have to be naked," T-Boz said.

The slam comes just after Rihanna made waves by showing up to receive her Fashion Icon Award at the CFDA Awards in a glittery sheer dress. In May, she also posed confidently nude for Lui magazine and shared images from the shoot via her since deleted Instagram account.

rihanna sheer dress

“If I’m wearing a top, I don’t wear a bra. If I’m wearing a bra, I just wear a bra," Rihanna told Vogue in February about her fashion philosophy.

"It's hard for us to say anything because any time we do, they say, 'Oh, TLC must be jealous,'" T-Boz said in the Sunrise interview. "But I call a spade a spade."

"We became the biggest girl selling group of all time with our clothes on, and that says a lot," Chilli added.

Rihanna made her view of the group's criticism clear when, in response, she changed her Twitter background to a topless picture of TLC and issued a sublime collection of subtweets:

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!

Lupita Nyong'o sizzled in a white Marysia bikini on the beach in Maui, Hawaii on Wednesday, June 4. The "12 Years a Slave" star, 31, looked effortlessly chic in a big hat, sunglasses and body chain as she walked the shoreline.

The Oscar winner, who is in Hawaii to participate in the Maui Film Festival, took to Instagram to share photos from her relaxing trip, writing, "Aloha Hawaii! #MauiFilmFestival #nofilter."

According to PopSugar, Nyong'o is at the Maui Film Festival to accept the rainmaker award for her international success in "12 Years a Slave," as well as for the documentary "In My Genes," which she created, directed and produced in 2009. The actress also confirmed some big news this week -- she has been cast in "Star Wars: Episode VII."

The Celebrities Who Made Our Best Dressed List This Week Have Style In Spades

$

This week, there were two major events that inspired some pretty amazing fashion moments: The CFDA Awards and the U.K Glamour Women of the Year Awards.

And let's just say, more than a few celebs turned it on for these special evenings. Liya Kebede stunned in a white skirt and top combo at the CFDAs (a look that could easily be copied), while Rochelle Humes proved that less is more in a classic red dress in London.

Check out our picks for best-dressed of the week and let us know if you agree.

Liya Kebede in Wes Gordon

liya

This was by far our most favorite look from the CFDA Awards. The model's classic white blouse was perfectly paired with a patterned skirt and serves as inspiration for the warmer months ahead -- after all, what woman doesn't own a crisp white shirt? Not only does Kebede look fresh and clean, but also so effortless.

Solange Knowles in Calvin Klein

solange

Bey's little sister channeled Diana Ross in this slinky metallic dress and we couldn't get enough. Her natural hair and bright pink lip color add necessary drama to her look and made it one of the standouts of the night.

Jaime King in Calvin Klein

king

This gown was even more stunning in person with all the fringe detail and the sheer panelling. We love how King took something as trendy as fringe and made it look so classic.

Shailene Woodley in Ralph Lauren

shailene

Now this is the Shailene we want to see. Her striking canary yellow dress really pops against her tanned skin, while the strapless neckline is the perfect way to show off her short 'do. And of course, a peplum is always extremely flattering.

Chrissy Teigen in Rachel Roy

chrissy

Babe alert! Even totally covered up, the Sports Illustrated model just oozes sex appeal. This fitted frock and fire engine red blazer caught our attention because of the bright hue -- okay and maybe those legs also had something to do with it.

Alexa Chung in Christian Dior

alexa

We were so happy to see Chung branching out and trying a new look. This dress with the embroidered top is a little more delicate than her usual style, but we love it. And those pearl embellished shoes are fantastic -- such a great way to incorporate one of the biggest trends of the season into her outfit.

Taylor Schilling in Peter Pilotto

taylor

Every time we see Schilling in a jaw-dropping dress it surprises us, as we always picture her in the prison jumpsuit she wears on "Orange Is the New Black." This just goes to show that Schilling looks amazing in anything.

Rochelle Humes in Jasper Conran

rochelle

The British singer wore a perfectly tailored simple dress and the results were spectacular. The rich red hue is captivating, as are her ruby lips.

Hollywood Disappoints Us This Week On The Worst Dressed List

Though we saw some pretty amazing looks this week on the best-dressed list, not all stars hit it out of the park.

A few celebs walked the red carpet in outfits that left us with our jaws on the floor -- and not in a good way. Naomi Campbell's feather and fringe dress was too over-the-top, while Rihanna's ill-fitting trousers had us questioning her recent honor at the CFDAs.

Check out our picks for the worst-dressed of the week and let us know if you agree.

Naomi Campbell

naomi

Not even Naomi Campbell can make this look work. The feathers, fringe and massive gold choker are way too much.

Rihanna

rihanna

The color is doing nothing for her complexion and those cargo pants desperately need to be tailored. But every fashion icon is entitled to a flop, right?

Emily VanCamp

emily

The sad part about this outfit is, had she ditched the bell sleeves, this easily could have been on the best-dressed list.

Laura Whitmore

laura

One wrong move with a slit like that and you're headed for a wardrobe malfunction. And if that isn't bad enough, the shoes cut her leg off in a bad spot, making her look shorter.

Amanda Seyfried

amanda

We want to love this ensemble, but something is off. Maybe it's the metallic gold underlay peeking through the lace or perhaps it's the thick black belt. One way or another, something isn't adding up.

Daisy Lowe

daisy

Oy, those pants. The fabric, length, cut and color of them is wildly unflattering.

Beth Behrs

beth

Even the "2 Broke Girls" star doesn't look happy to be in this gown. Not only does the dress overwhelm her, but the head-to-toe embellishments make it look too youthful.

'You Did Not Eat That' Shames Skinny Women For Instagramming Food

$
0
0
Lifestyle bloggers (and random thin celebrities) on Instagram, beware. Someone out there wants to get to the bottom of whether you really ate that plate of lemon ricotta pancakes you Instagrammed at brunch last week.

"You Did Not Eat That," an account run by an anonymous food-consumption truther, pulls images of models, bloggers and actresses posing with food, and shames them for pretending to eat things that they supposedly would never actually put in their mouths. Because how else would they maintain their beautiful physiques? No way anyone with a thin, toned body ever eats an omelet. Or a Greek salad. Or fruit. Or has pasta in Italy. Or splits sushi with friends.

I am of the opinion that women should eat what they want, when they want to. And if they decide to share images of food they encounter or eat on Instagram, that's fine by me. But if this particular account is to be believed, droves of thin women on Instagram are deceptively purchasing and photographing food they have no intention of eating, just to keep up a facade. Um, what?

Calling out a brand for using the same fake ice cream cone in three posts is one thing. And no one likes those lifestyle bloggers' ridiculously chic interior design images, oh-so-carefully curated and often sponsored for commercial gain -- they make us feel like lesser humans because we don't have a living room sprinkled with Diptyque candles, peonies and cashmere throws. But what a woman is ordering at a restaurant, eating at an event, or cooking up in their own kitchen is an entirely different matter. Publicly claiming that women aren't eating the food they're posting because they "couldn't" consume those things and still have "good" bodies is plain wrong.

Why is this Instagrammer hell-bent on "proving" that people are lying about what they consume? Picking on individual people for images they uploaded of meals or treats they're about to enjoy sounds a lot like shaming. "On Tuesdays we pretend to eat Cheetos," one caption on the account reads. "After reviewing several dozen photos of @iza_goulart in various states of undress we are going to go with #youdidnoteatthat," says another.

In an interview with The Cut, the anonymous Instagrammer claimed that the account was "fun and done in good spirit" while explaining her need to "detect bullshit:"
If you're a size zero, and you're frolicking in a tiny bikini on the beach, you probably did not eat the doughnuts that you posed with the sunglasses. It's just presenting this curated life that's beautiful and perfect and totally unrealistic. More power to you for rocking that! You look awesome! Don't lie about how you got there! It's fine.

The interview implies that the only way to "get there" -- to a size zero -- is to eat a steady diet of kale and lettuce. And of course to then purposefully purchase sugary foods just to photograph, before throwing them away.

Many skinny women can and do eat all kinds of food, and claiming that those who share hearty meals and sugary treats are liars is a petty endeavor. There are far better ways to call out the hypocrisy of the fashion and beauty industry than shaming models for Instagramming a bagel.

Kate Middleton Is Still Trying To Make Fascinators Happen

Okay Kate Middleton, we get it. You look great in a hat. All hats for that matter. And yes, you just may have enticed us to go out and buy a fascinator this weekend.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge travelled to France on Friday to mark the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings, and we have to say, they both looked quite dapper for the occasion. Kate stunned in a black fascinator and blue Alexander McQueen coat dress (that she also wore when on tour in New Zealand earlier this spring), while the Duke looked smart in a navy suit. Though fascinators may not exactly be trendy, we love that Kate continues to wear them. Clearly nothing can keep a british princess from her hats!

Urban Outfitters' Resistance to Diversity Is as Outdated as Bobby Socks and Parachute Pants

$
0
0
Visit an Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie or Free People clothing store, and you're likely to think, "They know their market" -- fashionable high school and college students and young professionals, primarily women.

Yet Urban Outfitters, which owns all three stores, has leaders who are so out of touch that for years they have refused to have a policy to even consider having women and minorities on its board of directors. This has happened despite studies that show that diversity among executive leadership and directors improves company performance.

The gap between the sophisticated image Urban Outfitters projects at its stores and the reality of its backward leadership that refuses to embrace inclusiveness will eventually hurt its reputation and catch up to its bottom line. That is why the $28.5 billion State of Connecticut Retirement Plans and Trust Funds, which has investments in this company, filed a fourth consecutive shareholder resolution at Urban Outfitters' annual meeting, which took place May 27.

Shareholders agreed with my Office on the critical importance of diversity. Almost half the votes of independent shareholders -- 46 percent -- were cast in favor of the resolution.

Counting management votes, the resolution was approved by 33.4 percent of shareholders -- up from 27 percent in 2013.

My Office's resolution called on the board of Urban Outfitters to "take every reasonable step to ensure that women and minority candidates are in the pool from which Board nominees are chosen" and to "publicly commit itself to a policy of Board inclusiveness." Sounds pretty simple -- publicly say that you will consider diversity. There is no hard requirement to place women and minorities on the board, just an acknowledgement that consideration will be given to a vast majority of the population.

Why is this important? There's mounting evidence based on academic studies that companies with diverse boards of directors are more likely to perform better than companies with no diversity. A recent analysis by Credit Suisse of the performance of 2,360 companies around the world over a six-year period found that women add value to corporate decision making. As the analysis described it, the majority group improves its own performance in response to minority involvement -- in this case, a male dominated board adding women who are independent and accomplished in their own right. It's all about the mix.

The result is greater effort by all, and more attention to detail -- a better outcome in a more diverse environment. In fact, the outcome is likely to be greater than the sum of its parts. It's not only what the women and people of color bring to the table, it is also the fact that they're at the table that improves the Board's output. Now, there's a win-win!

Simply put, women and people of color make boards better -- and that makes companies better, and stronger. They perform better, and provide better returns over the long term.

Even Urban Outfitters' main competitors -- Gap, Nordstrom and Abercrombie & Fitch -- have at least at least one independent female director or racially diverse member on their boards of directors. And beyond this market niche, successful companies have embraced this reality: more than 80 percent of the companies in the Russell 1000 Index have at least one independent female director, as do 90 percent of the companies in the S&P 500 Index and 98 percent of the companies in the S&P 100 Index.

So, the Connecticut Treasury's message, along with thousands of other shareholders, to Urban Outfitters: Get with it! Adopt a policy on director recruitment that is as up-to-date and cutting edge as the company's products. It's good for business and for the bottom line.

John Krasinski

"It was one of those things where I wasn't really looking for a relationship and I was thinking I'm going to take my time in L.A. Then I met her and I was so nervous. John Legend

"How many times do I have to tell you/ Even when you're crying you're beautiful too/ The world is beating you down, I'm around through every mood/ You're my downfall, you're my muse/ My worst distraction, my rhythm and blues/ I can't stop singing, it's ringing, in my head for you." - Lyrics to John Legend's song "All Of Me", written about wife Chrissy Teigen

It was a very slow progression of things that would drop in like, 'Oh I love that about that person. I love that about that person.' And they all sort of accumulate into what our love is now." - Ferguson on husband Justin Mikita

Chris Pratt

"I knew I wanted to marry her pretty soon [after I met her]. It took a while for me to admit it, because it would be crazy to be like, 'I want to marry you' the first day I met her. But I could have!" - Pratt on wife Anna Faris

11 Reasons Why We Adore Prince

Dearly beloved, we have gathered here today to pay homage to Prince.

We've been enamored with the music icon ever since we watched the film "Purple Rain." Wearing frilly tops, hip-hugging bell-bottoms and loads of black eyeliner, Prince pours as much passion into his style as he does into his records.

With The Purple One still selling out shows and cranking out moody ballads, he will teach a new legion of fans his funky melodies and fashions. So, in honor of Prince's 56th birthday today (June 7), here are 11 reasons why we adore him.

1. He returned to his roots (literally!) and brought back the Afro.

2. He can still rock a blowout better than our mamas. Just sayin'.

3. He poses for "usies" like this, proving he does his own makeup.

4. His head scarf game is proper. Rain? Ain't nobody got time for that!

5. He can give Tyra Banks a run for her money when it comes to smizing.

6. He knows the easiest way to tame baby hairs is to slick it back with some good ol' spit.

7. He keeps it sexy even when it's bath time.

8. He can wear a white blouse better than anyone we know.

9. He can also keep it basic with black and white. But, don't get it twisted, there's nothing basic about his style.

10. He knows endless ways to wear lace.
