DALLAS (AP) — An outfit Vivien Leigh wore when she played Scarlett O'Hara in the 1939 film "Gone With the Wind" has fetched $137,000 at auction.

Heritage Auctions offered the gray jacket and skirt, featuring a black zigzag applique, plus other items from the Academy Award-winning film at auction Saturday in Beverly Hills, California. Dallas-based Heritage said more than 150 items from the movie, including costumes and props, were offered by James Tumblin. He formerly was in charge of the hair and makeup department at Universal Studios.

Tumblin began collecting items associated with the MGM film in the 1960s. He paid $20 for the Scarlett O'Hara outfit after spotting it at a costume company.

Pantone Introduces 'Minion Yellow,' Its First New Color In 3 Years

The Pantone Color Institute has unveiled a new color: “Minion yellow.”

As the name suggests, the color was inspired by the bespectacled animated characters from Universal Pictures’ and Illumination Entertainment’s “Despicable Me” franchise, and the upcoming spin-off film “Minions.” According to CNET, this is the first time in three years that Pantone has released a new hue.

Pantone, whose color matching system is widely used by designers and artists, said that it collaborated with animators at Illumination to come up with the new shade of yellow.

"Color is contextual and right now there is a desire for colors that are more vibrant and uplifting," Pantone Color Institute vice president Laurie Pressman said in a news release. "This is especially the case with the yellows, so given the worldwide popularity of the Minions, it seemed only natural to name a color after a character for the first time in our history."

According to Pantone, Pharrell Williams, the singer who worked on the soundtrack for “Despicable Me” and “Despicable Me 2,” came up with the idea for the partnership.

“Minion yellow” will be added to the Pantone Fashion, Home and Interiors color palette with the “next color addition.”

Pro Athletes Test Bobbi Brown's New Makeup Line To Prove It's Sweat-Proof

Just how effective is Bobbi Brown's new line of waterproof eye makeup? Instead of telling you, the cosmetics creator and makeup artist prefers that a professional surfer prove it to you.

To promote the brand's new "Long-Wear" eye collection, professional surfer Kelia Moniz hit the waves sporting a GoPro and the sweat-resistant, waterproof makeup. Viewers can watch Moniz swimming and surfing as her eye makeup remains perfectly intact.

"Yes, models have great advice on how to look fabulous and stay slim, but it's the fitness instructors, trainers and athletes that I've learned the most from," Bobbi Brown told The Huffington Post. "They've taught me that beauty is about so much more than makeup; it's about strength, confidence and courage, and that what you put in your body is just as important as what you put on it."

The brand also teamed up with alpine ski racer Julia Mancuso, snowboarder Hannah Teter and BASE jumper Roberta Mancino to test the effectiveness of the makeup mid-jump and mid-run.

The video footage is nothing short of amazing, and demonstrates how these products stay put even under extraordinary circumstances. Watch what happened when the decorated athletes put the Bobbi Brown Cosmetics "Long-Wear" collection to the test in the videos below, and read on for their best life lessons (no makeup required).

Hannah Teter

"It was important to learn at a young age that when you commit yourself 110 percent to something, you can receive just as much back as you put in. I looked at snowboarding as an opportunity to really test my spirit and commit myself to every aspect of the sport to always improve. I apply all that I've learned throughout the last 19 years of snowboarding to my daily life now."

Roberta Mancino

"Coaching is about so much more than just teaching people to become good at the sport. Teaching people made me care more about them. I would do anything to keep them safe and I am invested in them."

Julia Mancuso

"I can't thank my parents enough for getting me outside and keeping me active. I love that it's second nature to me. I now have to go outside and be active on any given day to make me feel like the day was complete. My parents led by great example -- they wanted to show us different, fun activities and also keep us active."

There were a few celebs outside Coachella whose looks we loved, too.

We figured out how to recreate these great looks at affordable prices. Check out the best cheap finds of the week and let us know which ones you're coveting.

9 Struggles Only People Who Love To Wear Hats Would Understand

There are some things in life (or fashion) that have the ability to attract a devoted following. Red lipstick, crop tops and overalls all fall under that category, but when it comes to really committing to a trend, nothing holds a candle to a good hat.

Sure, anyone could wear one, but there are a select group of people -- you know who you are -- who are fully committed. Maybe you have an entire collection, or just one that somehow finds its way to your head every day. Either way, there's a very specific, very beautiful connection between you and that hat.

Of course, as with all relationships, there are ups and downs. It will never fail to make you look instantly cooler, regardless of the outfit you're wearing, but there are some downfalls to being so fiercely committed to the cause.

Here are 9 struggles anyone who loves hats will understand.

1. EVERYONE wants to try it on.

janet jackson animated GIF

"I'm not usually a hat person, but let's just see!"

2. Sometimes it's even used as a prop.

black and white animated GIF

You wanted to see every single party guest's moonwalk impression, right?

3. Two words: Hat. Hair.

Via.

4. Sometimes it's hard to see.

pink animated GIF

5.You're constantly fielding questions about it.

man animated GIF

"Do you wear it inside? Do you ever feel awkward? Don't you get hot?"

6. It gives people something to talk to you about -- even if you don't necessarily want to talk to them.

7. You're constantly worried that it's bent out of shape.

8. Doing any activity that involves someone being close to your face is nearly impossible.

9. You can forget about leaning against anything. Ever.

But, despite all these things, you wouldn't dream of trading your hat in for, say, a beanie -- or even worse, no hat at all. You're a hat girl, and you should be proud.

That elastic hair tie around your wrist -- the one that's most likely cutting off your circulation and leaving a red, indented mark -- just got a major upgrade.

The husband-and-wife duo behind BitterSweet jewelry has invented a bracelet designed to eliminate the pressure from the elastic hair tie on your wrist, turning it into a fashion statement. One word: Genius.

Now, this:
bittersweet bracelet

Turns into this:
bittersweet bracelet

These bracelets are honestly one of the most amazing fashion-meets-function products we've seen. The company's founder and designer, Shireen Thor, says that was her aim.

"The bracelet was sparked out of love and creativity to solve a common problem for women," Thor told The Huffington Post. "Whenever I would look back at pictures of myself with a hair tie elastic on my wrist I would feel unsophisticated -- so I decided I wanted to do something about it!"

We're glad she did. And with price points ranging from $45 for a steel-plated bracelet and $85 for a version plated in precious metal like silver, gold or rose gold, these clever bracelets are bound to find a new home for plenty of hair ties. Take a look at all the different ways the company suggests you can wear these beauties -- they come in both a floral design and a sleeker classic edition.

Eye-Catching Clothing Line Uses Biology-Themed Designs To Attract Girls To Science

An aspiring doctor is using a clothing line to inspire young girls to get interested in science.

Lizzie Cochran, a 24-year-old student at Columbia University, came up with the idea of Epidemia Designs -- a clothing line which turns biology-themed images into designs for workout apparel and fashion accessories, late last year.

The brand's first prototypes came out in January, and last month, the student created a Kickstarter to help launch Epidemia's first line of activewear leggings. Through eye-catching designs, Cochran and her team hope that they can attract girls to pursue the sciences.

"I think that there is still a belief among young girls that the sciences are men’s fields and, with Epidemia Designs, I hope to play a part in changing that perception," Cochran told The Huffington Post in an email. "We hope that our designs will serve as conversation starters and, through interesting, appealing patterns, further the idea that science is for girls, too."

The science-lover told HuffPost that the concept behind the line, which features images of micrographs, CT scans and X-rays, came to her in biology lab.

"I kept noticing how beautiful the images were and how cool it would be to turn those images into patterns that could be printed on clothing and accessories," she said.

The 24-year-old told HuffPost that Epidemia's first leggings line, which has a female empowerment theme called, "She's Got It," will contain four different styles from heart muscle, brain cells, epithelial cells and nerve synapses -- very appropriately named, "She’s Got Heart," "She’s Got Brains," "She’s Got Guts" and "She’s Got Nerve."

Cochran said that with the proper funding, Epidemia will expand beyond just leggings to include sports bras and other athletic wear.

And while much of the line is dedicated to showing girls the beauty of science, once the brand gets off the ground Cochran plans to donate 15 percent of profits to fund research and projects with goals of decreasing the occurrence of preventable diseases, as well as expanding access to health care globally.

Scott Disick's View On Pubic Hair Is Totally Offensive

$

Sunday's "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" got dark. Scott Disick, Lord of Calabasas, is also apparently the lord of Kourtney Kardashian's pubic hair. One of the B-plots throughout the episode was Kourtney's nude pregnancy photo shoot with Brian Bowen Smith and Scott's desire for Kourtney to trim her pubic hair for the photos. "It's a little offensive," he told her when she confronted him about his request. Nah, Scott. You're a little offensive.

Sure, everyone has preferences, but Scott's disgust with Kourtney's "unkept lawn" makes it seem like it's inappropriate or unruly for a woman -- let alone a pregnant woman -- to have ungroomed pubic hair. (It's not, by the way.) On a call with Smith, Scott joked that he'll need a weed-whacker to cut through her pubic hair. "When her stomach is hanging over things, I don't think she gets how unkept her lawn can get," he said later in a confessional. "I think she forgets hair still grows downstairs."

As the episode continued, Kourtney told Scott she'd be open to shaving her pubic hair but needed his help. "It's lucky enough that I can shave my legs," she said. "There's a huge stomach here in the way so you're asking a lot to shave down there. I'm down. I just need some assistance."

His response: "Her bush is hanging out like it's the '80s and I'm not going to stand for that. If I have to get my hands dirty I will."

Last year, the Guardian declared 2014 "the year of the bush," but the reemergence of female pubic hair in pop culture has been undeniable for years now. Even the "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" cast spent a good portion of last week's reunion talking about Lisa Rinna and Lisa Vanderpump's pubic hair. "I've got it down to my knees, for God's sake," Vanderpump had said earlier in the season.

So, shut it down, Scott. A woman's pubic hair is her own.

Clothing Alterations Are The Key To Having A Complete Wardrobe

tailoring tricks

Having a stylist is a luxury that not all people can afford. But you don't need to spend thousands of dollars to hire someone that will help you look more pulled together. Any old garment will look significantly better when it actually fits properly, according to costume designer and author Alison Freer.

That's why Freer, whose client roster includes everyone from Nickelodeon and Comedy Central actors to WWE entertainers and "In Living Color" Fly Girls, is a huge advocate for tailoring.

Freer has quite a few styling tricks up her sleeve, and now it's easier for everyone to gain access to her straight-forward advice for cheap. Her new book "How To Get Dressed" gets to the nitty-gritty of revamping your wardrobe.

"If you really love the look of something, it's always worth altering," said Freer. "But this makes you get real with yourself: Do I truly love it? Or am I buying something that is just 'okay' out of habit or boredom? I have $20 pieces from Forever 21 that were altered that are the stars of my personal wardrobe lineup!"

Below is an excerpt from Freer's book on eight clothing alterations she believes are totally worth it.

1. Shorten a shirt or add a shirttail hem.

shirttail hem

"Having a shirt hem taken up even a half inch can make a big difference, as a too-long top can overwhelm a petite frame and always tends to bunch up and look sloppy," Freer says. "On most simple tops (even those with buttons), you can ask your tailor to add a curved, shirttail style hem instead of a boring straight one. This will create a more interesting, flattering silhouette. This alteration also allows you to tuck tops into clingier skirts or pants with only minimal bunching.

"However, if there are pockets or zippers involved near the hem of the shirt, attempting to shorten it probably isn't worth the trouble. Leave those pieces on the rack and never look back, because replacing zippers and moving pockets can become costly alterations."

2. Take in a shirt at the side seams.

"The golden rule of alterations is that anywhere a straight seam exists on a garment is pretty much fair game for an alteration. So if you're considering the purchase of a blouse you love with a fit that's on the not-so-perfect boxy side, check to see if it has a straight seam on each side of the body. If it does, march right up to the register and pay for that bad boy, because taking a straight seam in at the sides is one of the easiest clothing fixes there is.

"If your boxy-cut shirt has sleeves, the alteration becomes slightly more complicated, as the tailor will need to cut into the underarm area too. But altering the sides through the underarm is still easily accomplished and totally worth doing. Just keep in mind that it means you'll have to make sure the shirt in question has enough room in the underarm to allow for a small chunk of fabric to be removed. If it's big on the sides but tight in the underarm, it's a no-go."

3. Take up a shoulder seam (or shorten your straps).

"This is the mother of all alterations for those of you with short torsos. If you find that many garments hang down a little too low in front and shows the sides of your bra, it's likely due to the shoulder seam being too long. And a good shoulder fit is important, as it can actually improve the look and feel of the entire garment. This alteration works best with a sleeveless or tank top style blouse, as removing the sleeve and reattaching it is tricky, and many times, they won't hang right afterward.

"Taking a sleeveless garment up at the shoulder seam is an easy, inexpensive fix," Freer added. "However, it does automatically raise the front and back necklines too, making the neckline circumference smaller. Whatever amount you raise the shoulder seam will also take the armhole up by the same amount. So make sure you can afford to lose the room before you take the plunge."

4. Hem a pair of pants or jeans.

pants hem

"A simple hem on a pair of pants should run you about $12, but the difference it makes in your look is priceless. Just a few inches off the bottom allows the pants to fall straight from your hips as the designer intended -- resulting in a clean, sleek, fresh line from waist to floor.

"Everyone thinks shortening the hem of jeans is totally out of the question because it's so hard to replicate the original one due to stitching details. But it's really not -- you just need to turn your tailor on to the 'Hollywood Hem.' To achieve it, put your jeans on and figure out where you want the new length to be. Use a pin to mark the spot. Then, cuff the legs up (so they are inside out) until the original hem is right above your existing pin. Use another pin to secure the cuff into place. Take your jeans to the tailor and have them sew right below the original hem, taking care not to sew through any part of the original hem itself. Once it's stitched down, your tailor will cut off the bottom fold of excess fabric, flip the original hem down and press it into place. Your jeans will now fit properly and look as if they came from the store that way!"

A word of caution: "Always make sure to wash and dry your jeans at least once or twice before hemming so they can get all the shrinkage out of their system," Freer advises. "Then, and only then, will you know how much you can safely chop off."

5. Add some darts.

"Darts are most commonly used in blouses to improve fit at the bustline, but can be just as useful to shape a pair of pants or a skirt. The tailor will space the two darts apart evenly, most likely placing them over the fullest part of each bum cheek. The darts will take in the most fabric at the waistband and go down to zero fabric at the point where your hips begin to widen. This alteration will likely run you about $20-$25.

"You can also use darts to slim down a boxy jacket. If you have broad shoulders, you may find that you need to buy your jackets a size or two up to have them fit well through the shoulders -- but this almost always causes it to be too boxy through the waist. Ask your tailor to open up the jacket's lining and add two darts at the jacket's back, starting right behind the sleeves and ending just before the hem for about $40."

6. Slim down a sleeve.

shirt seam

"Cutting down a voluminous sleeve is another alteration that doesn't cost a ton but makes a huge difference in how a garment looks. When a sleeve is too loose, it usually means the armpit is too big as well. Your tailor can take in anywhere from a half inch to a full two inches from the underside sleeve seam, going from the wrist all the way to the underarm and down into the side-boob seam to create a slimmed down, prettier shape.

"Your tailor may try to tell you that he or she needs to actually remove the sleeves from the garment to 'properly' take in the sleeve and underarm area, but the shortcut method outlined above is one I've used for years with great success -- and sometimes all you really need is the fastest, least expensive way to get from point A to point B. Just make sure you can actually bend your arm at the elbow with the proposed sleeve alteration before the tailor stitches it up for good."

7. Taper a trouser leg.

"You obviously can't make a pair of wide-leg pants into a legging with this alteration, but you can have your tailor easily trim a bit of excess volume along the garment's inner and outer seams, resulting in a more flattering, streamlined silhouette."

Fair warning: "Bringing a pair of pants in by more than about two inches often necessitates moving the pockets to a point where the whole thing just looks wrong. You may be better off just springing for a new pair that fits you better."

8. Replace a terrible invisible zipper.

zipper dress

"The zipper that will give you the most trouble in life is an invisible zipper, which is practically embedded into the garment, rendering the zipper -- wait for it -- invisible once zipped up! They are commonly found on better cocktail and party dresses.

"If you are asking your tailor to replace the zipper completely, you may need to provide them with the new zipper to ensure a perfect color and style match. This means a trip to the fabric store is in your future -- and once you are there, spring for the very best zipper money can buy. Consider replacing plastic zippers with metal ones, as they are stronger and can take more of a beating. Be sure to bring the garment to the store with you so you aren't left scratching your head, wondering which zipper is a better match. A replacement zipper is in the neighborhood of $8 to purchase, and a tailor will charge you about $12 to install it.

"If you have a dress that's just a few centimeters too tight (or every zipper you ever use breaks and gets stuck), you could also consider replacing your invisible zippers with a sturdier exposed zipper and treating it like a style detail."

Guys Go To Coachella, Too -- And Might Have Better Style Than The Ladies

Over the years, whether you like it or not, Coachella has evolved from being strictly a music festival to what's essentially a fashion show with musical performances sprinkled in. Social media feeds blow up each year at the first Kendall Jenner sighting, with both attendees and onlookers flocking to Instagram to see what she and her friends are wearing.

When it comes to the men who attend the festival, however, way less attention is paid. The ladies have some pretty obvious choices when it comes to "festival chic" (flower crowns and fringe, anyone?), but the men of Coachella have just as much -- if not more -- sartorial savvy.

Guys who showed up to the festival this year were all over the map, ranging from casual to, well, just plain out there. There were tons of mixed prints, graphic tees and of course, plenty of wide brimmed hats to go around. These guys not only look stylish, but in many cases their picks are actually practical, too -- a notion female attendees don't always consider.

Graphic Video Of Annual Canadian Seal Hunt Released By Animal Rights Group

WARNING: This post contains graphic content that may upset some readers.

The Canadian government in early March announced this year's quota for its annual, and highly controversial, seal hunt. The allocation for 2015? 468,000 harp, hooded and grey seals.

In an effort to minimize inhumane treatment, the Canadian government mandates that seals can only be killed using a high-powered rifle or shotgun, a club or a hunting tool called a hakapik. Yet with the hunt in full swing, last week Humane Society International released shocking footage of baby seals being shot, clubbed and dragged aboard hunting vessels.

Rebecca Aldworth, executive director of HSI's Canada chapter, told The Huffington Post that despite the legal protections, "what happens to these baby seals is some of the worst suffering I've ever witnessed." She spent last week in a helicopter off the northeast coast of Newfoundland getting a firsthand look at the seal hunt -- her 17th year doing so.

"Ever year we go out there, we see the same kind of cruelty," Aldworth said. "The seal is moving on the ice, the ice is moving on the ocean and the boat is rocking on the waves, so you often see a seal that's just wounded because it's incredibly difficult to make that shot."

The hunt takes place in northeastern Canada between November and June, with the majority of the seal hunting happening in March and April. The animals are killed mainly for their furs, and young harp seals tend to be in the highest demand because they have the most valuable pelts.

The Canadian government maintains that safeguards are in place to ensure animals are killed quickly and humanely. When asked about the scientific rationale for the hunt, a spokesperson for the country's Fisheries and Oceans Portfolio directed HuffPost to an online FAQ page about the seal hunt.

Click to reveal graphic photo

cull

The huge annual quota is all the more surprising given that the number of seals harvested each year has fallen dramatically over the past decade, thanks to a shrinking market. Around 94,000 animals were hunted in 2013, down from about 366,000 in 2004. Harp seal populations in Canada are nearly three times what they were in the 1970s, currently numbering close to 7.3 million animals.

The Canadian Sealers Association recently announced that it will scale back operations in light of the difficult financial situation caused by a constricted commercial market. Carino, the top buyer of sealskins in Canada, said it wouldn't be purchasing any pelts this year because it already has a stockpile that didn't sell in 2014.

The lower demand is partially a result of growing international concern for animal welfare. The entirety of the European Union banned the trade in 2009 due to worries about the inhumane nature of seal hunts in Canada, Greenland, Namibia and other countries. Canada appealed the decision to the World Trade Organization, but the agency upheld the EU ban in 2014, noting it was "necessary to protect public morals" related to animal rights.

In the U.S., trade in seal products is banned and all species of seal are protected under the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972.

Captain Paul Watson, founder of the marine wildlife conservation group Sea Shepherd, told HuffPost that while his organization supports the work of HSI, it no longer actively opposes to the hunt due to the "collapse" of the market.

"There simply is no market today," he said. "Sea Shepherd's role has been to oppose the sealing ships, and there are no more ships on the water and in the ice killing seals."

Watson noted that despite the large number of seals designated for hunting through the government's quota, it's likely that fewer than 60,000 will be killed this year because of the lack of demand.

Aldworth told HuffPost that HSI is hoping to help broker a deal between the sealers and the Canadian government that would bring about an end to the hunt through a federal buyout of sealing contracts. She said the plan would be similar to the shift that took place when whaling was ended in the country in the 1970s. Parts of Canada now have a burgeoning whale-watching industry.

But for now, her group believes a single seal killed is one too many.

"HSI's concern is that the seal hunt is inherently inhumane. Because it's inhumane, it must be shut down," Aldworth said. "The only progressive thing to do, the only acceptable solution is to shut down the slaughter forever."

This Is A Raincoat For Your Purse, And It's Genius

April showers don't just bring May flowers. They also bring frizzy hair, soaking wet feet and drenched purses.

While a de-frizzer can take care of your strands and a good pair of rain boots will protect your feet, what about your bag? It's arguably the most important item (it holds your phone, after all). Of course, an umbrella can help, but no matter how much rearranging you do, you always end up with a damp purse. Until now.

Enter Handbag Raincoats, a.k.a. the most genius items you probably didn't realize existed. These little guys come in a variety of sizes, depending on how big your purse is, and will "protect handbags from inopportune weather," thus ensuring you will live to text another day. To be clear, this is not a new concept, but many people seem to be unaware purse raincoats are real. So now you know. Bring it on, April showers.

7 Anti-Aging Tricks That Every Woman Over 50 Should Use

If I see one more online ad with a tagline like "Doctors hate her! Discover the one weird trick this woman used to look 10 years younger," I'm going to scream. I'm not sure what makes me more frustrated -- the fact that companies think that we are naïve enough to buy their latest pills or potions, or, the fact that so many of us still fall for their lies.

By now, we know what a 50-year-old body looks like. We live in one every single day. Even those of us who purchase the latest anti-aging creams and capsules know they won't make us look younger. Not really.

So, what's the alternative? Should we abandon trying to look our best? Should we accept invisibility? Heck no! There are still plenty of things that we can do to look and feel great. But, the anti-aging tricks that we need are not the ones that will cost us hundreds of dollars a month.

Here are seven real anti-aging tricks that every woman over 50 should use.

Wear a Genuine Smile

Nothing will make you look older and more tired than wearing a perpetual scowl. The opposite is also true. A genuine smile activates all of the good muscles in your face and tells the world that you are a confident, happy person.

Smiling can also make you happier, through a process that psychologists call the "facial feedback effect." This is great news, because, the happier you are, the more likely you will be to engage in activities that keep your body and mind in great shape.

Spend Time with Young People

Nothing will make you feel 10 years younger quicker than playing in the park with an ice-cream fuelled 5-year old. As I wrote previously, young kids can also teach us a surprising amount about getting the most from life after 50.

If you don't have young kids in your family, why not consider volunteering at local youth center or becoming a mentor? Giving back has been shown to make you happier and it may just keep you feeling younger too!

Burn Fat the Old Fashion Way

Ok, I get it. Staying in shape really is harder after 50. It requires commitment and discipline. But, if we are honest with ourselves, we all know that exercise, combined with a healthy diet, is the single best way to look and feel youthful.

Here's an easy way to get in shape in just one minute a day. Let's say that you want to start running. Try the following.

On the first day, go for a one-minute walk. The next day, walk for two minutes. Continue this process until you are walking for 30 minutes at the end of the month. Now, start running for the first minute and walking for the remaining 29. If you continue this process, by the end of the second month, you will be running 30 minutes a day. To easy? That's the whole point!

Embrace Your Passions

Most of our adult lives are spent looking after other people. As parents, we often put our children's needs ahead of our own. As employees, we support our co-workers and managers. Now, in our 50s, it's time to start embracing our own passions.

Anti-aging creams often claim to give you a "healthy glow." Well, I promise that nothing will make you glow brighter than knowing that you are making the world a better place, in your own special way.

Stop Helping the Clock

When doctors are working with a patient, they always try to "first do no harm." The same applies to anti-aging. There are very few, if any, guaranteed anti-aging treatments. But, there are plenty of things that will take years off of your life, while making you look older.

By the time we reach our 50s, it's easy to assume that "the damage has been done." Nothing could be further from the truth. Once again, we all know our problem areas. If you still smoke in your 50s, now is the perfect time to quit. Read more about the 4 bad habits we should kick in our 50s.

Give Your Skin What it Really Needs

Your skin is amazing and, for the most part, it is perfectly capable of taking care of itself. Sure, using a natural moisturizer will help to lock moisture into your skin. But, for the most part, all your skin needs to stay healthy is sunscreen, water and a balanced diet. Despite what the supplement companies might want you to believe, the best way to get the vitamins your skin needs is to eat a balanced diet, with plenty of fruits and vegetables.

Find Friends Who Make You Laugh

Good friends are an essential part of your "anti-aging kit" for two reasons. First, laughter is a natural mood and energy booster. With the right friends on your side, you will be more likely to engage in the healthy behaviors that will keep you feeling healthy.

Second, and more importantly, surrounding yourself with good friends will remind you to be true to yourself. This means learning to love your aging body. No anti-aging pill or potion is going to make you more perfect than you already are.

This Collapsible Bike Helmet Can Fold Up Into Your Laptop Bag

A bicycle helmet funded on Indiegogo aims to make commuting to work even more convenient -- and a lot less bulky.

"The Morpher" is designed to fold flat, making it easier to carry around than a traditional helmet. And while cyclists will still deal with its heft, it beats having to lug around a helmet and a bag all at once.

British inventor Jeffrey Woolf came up with the concept after commissioning a survey to learn about the helmet-wearing habits of those who rely on bike rentals, like New York City's CitiBike and Boston's Hubway. Of those he surveyed, 92 percent reported not wearing a helmet when riding their temporary bike. Eighty-four percent believed they were risking their lives by forgoing head protection, and 83 percent said they go without the helmet due to "lack of portability."

Woolf's invention is a direct response to this last problem: "If I could create a helmet that could fold flat," he wrote on the product's Indiegogo page, "I could save lives."

Indeed. A multi-departmental report by the city of New York revealed that from 1996 to 2005, 97 perfect of cyclists involved in a fatal crash in the city were not wearing a helmet. Neither were 87 percent of riders who were seriously injured in crashes. If the majority of those that forego helmets do so because of the inconvenience associated with hauling one around, the Morpher and products like it could be an easy solution.

Woolf's invention, which is made of the same hard plastic and foam used in a conventional helmets, is in production with initial orders expected to ship out in June. It has already passed safety inspections for use outside the U.S. and Australia; in an update post last week, Woolf announced that the Morpher will soon undergo the independent testing required before it can be approved for sale in the U.S.

The folding helmet, which was selected as Popular Science Magazine's Safety Invention of the Year in 2014, is available for pre-order for $89 via Indiegogo.

The Huffington Post was born on May 9, 2005 as an adorable little website with just a handful of bloggers.

Our childhood was filled with milestones and regular kid memories -- we napped, we learned, we played, we broke news and won fabulous prizes (like a Pulitzer!) We're about to turn double digits, and want to celebrate with other kids who will be 10 on the same day as us.

If you know of anyone born on May 9, 2005, email Turning10@huffingtonpost.com, and we might feature them in an upcoming story on The Huffington Post.

Zaha Hadid, Fernando Romero, and Ben Van Berkel are making headlines alongside two renowned artists for their 3-D printed reinventions of the high heel. A collaborative vision spearheaded by United Nude and 3-D Systems, the highly anticipated project was unveiled yesterday at the “Re-Inventing Shoes” exhibition at Milan Design Week.

Each sculptural heel was 3-D printed using SelectiveLaser Sintering in a hard Nylon and all-new soft Rubber material, making a “fully functioning” shoe. Only up to 50 pairs of each will be sold.

“This shoe uses the most cutting-edge 3-D printing technology both in design and execution, but the result is a shoe that could have been an object found in nature, a delicate fossil that has been buried on the bottom of the ocean for millennia.”

“We were particularly interested in the kinds of images the shoe could create, both when static and when in motion. The UNX2 shoe creates patterns of movement and produces a dynamic form of image-making through motion.”

“Working on this project has allowed us a unique opportunity to explore and expand within a rare dimension. Combined with our own extensive experience in 3-D technology we have created a refreshing approach to the way a shoe may be can be perceived.”

“The sculptural sensibility and experimentation of Hadid’s architectural language and United Nude’s expertise In manufacturing the most innovative designs has embodied the shoe with the essence of fire – delicate and ephemeral, yet compelling and dynamic.”
