See ya later, beach waves. Hailee Steinfeld looked calm, cool and collected as she appeared at the Hollywood premiere for "Barely Lethal" sporting a super straight hairdo.

Steinfeld's sleek and shiny hair fell beautifully against her black mesh dress, with not a single strand of hair going awry. We're pretty sure her stylist prepped her locks with heat protectant before straightening and made sure to hold the flat iron correctly. But we would love to know how Steinfeld managed to keep it that way.

See Steinfeld's straight hairstyle below, and find out which other stars made our best beauty list this week.

Karlie Kloss Loves Catching Up On Sleep, But There's An Even Better Way To Do It

$

When 22-year-old supermodel Karlie Kloss isn't strutting her stuff on the runway, she can be found lounging the day away in one of her favorite spots -- her bed.

"[Sleep is] my favorite indulgence," Kloss recently told The Washington Post. "I like to spoil myself by taking a day off and sleep in, it's the best and most generous thing you can do for yourself. Sleep is such a big part of one's beauty."

While we at The Huffington Post agree that sleep is one of the most important aspects of our health, and that logging extra z's after a particularly long week feels glorious, it's not necessarily good for us to live that way. The sad truth is that when it comes to healthy sleep hygiene, we aren't doing ourselves any favors by trying to undo that sleep deprivation damage on the weekends or during the free moments in our hectic schedules. Sleeping in far later than normal actually de-synchronizes the natural sleep-wake cycle, leaving people feeling more sleepy when they finally do climb out of bed -- and ill-prepared to set the record straight the following night.

It's far, far better to get more quality sleep in the first place. If you're really looking for the best (and most consistent!) sleep of your life, consider the following tips:

  • Unplug early to allow your brain to unwind before bedtime.

How Yvette Nicole Brown Does Figure-Flattering Fashion On A Budget

$

Yvette Nicole Brown from "Community" and "The Odd Couple" is one of the few actresses in Hollywood who chooses not to have a stylist. Instead, the 43-year-old L.A.-based entertainer says she simply sticks with what she knows. "I find stuff that works for me," she says. "Like I'll find a dolman sleeve, or I really love pencil skirts."

And, she proudly does it all on a budget. "I buy my own clothes," Brown says. "Target, Marshalls, Macy's -- I go everywhere."

Though she's perfectly content dressing herself, Brown wonders if she's developing the right personal style. Looking for advice, she turns to "O, The Oprah Magazine" creative director and fashion expert Adam Glassman who invites her into the "O" magazine fashion closet on the Oprah.com web series, #AdamSays.

In the above video, Glassman critiques some of Brown's recent red carpet looks. "Don't be afraid," he reassures her. "I think you have great style and I think you're able to pull things together really well on your own."

Up first: A printed dress Brown wore to the "Walking Dead" premiere.

"I was thinking I wanted to wear something festive and fun because I love the show so much, and then of course, flats. Now, I did not love these boots in pictures," she admits. "I loved them on my feet and they're comfortable, but I think they make me look a little dumpy."

"I totally agree, sorry," Glassman tells Brown. His advice: Always wear a heel on the red carpet.

That said, Glassman loves the shape of this dress on Brown and the watercolor-like print. "I think print is tough, but I have this tip that a print should never be bigger than the size of your fist or it actually makes you look larger than what it is," he says.

yvette nicole brown fashion

In this next look, Brown is wearing a Karen Kane wrap jacket and admits she threw herself together in a hurry. "I think this top is too dark for this skirt," Glassman says. To make it work, he would have paired the skirt with a top in the same hue for a long and lean monochromatic look.

yvette nicole brown fashion

This last ensemble, a leopard-print Karen Kane wrap top paired with a Vince Camuto pencil skirt, is Brown's best. "This is my favorite look of anything I've ever worn," she says.

"You look hot," Glassman agrees. "The pencil skirt is your look and that's what you're going for."

The figure-flattering shape of a pencil skirt pairs perfectly with Brown's other love: dolman sleeve tops, which she says hide "a multitude of sins." Though Brown was concerned that the look was becoming her "uniform," Adam says it's great to have a go-to signature style.

"Absolutely," he says. "Stick with the uniform."

Breastfeeding Cover Model Pulls A Gisele And Multitasks On The Job

Nicole Trunfio is another multitasking supermodel mom.

The Australian model and actress shared a photo on Instagram Wednesday of her on set with baby boy Zion, surrounded by her glam squad. The photo is reminiscent of a 2013 Instagram post from Gisele Bundchen, which showed Bundchen breastfeeding her daughter, Vivian Lake, as her team prepped her for a day's work.

Work! Love this glam squad @jodieboland @thomasdunkin1 @ingefonteyne

A photo posted by Nicole Trunfio (@nictrunfio) on

Trunfio, 29, recently made headlines for her gorgeous breastfeeding cover of Elle Australia, published on the subscribers' version of the June 2015 issue of the fashion mag. The cover was a candid shot snapped by photographer Georges Anton while the new mom was in the middle of feeding her baby on set.

Some raised objections to Elle's decision to put the photo only on the cover of the subscribers' version, and not on the main issue.

"I didn't think it was going to be such a big deal. There's nothing worse than, as a mother, doing something that's so necessary like feeding your child and feeling like somebody could have an opinion about it or somebody's looking at you the wrong way," Trunfio said during a "Good Morning America" interview this week. "I think it should be something that isn't a [subscriber's cover], it's a huge part of being a woman and motherhood."

Justine Cullen, editor-in-chief of Elle Australia, defended the choice as a business decision and said the brand "celebrates womanhood in all its forms."

The same day rumors began swirling that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are headed toward a divorce, the couple was spotted in Santa Monica along with their two eldest children, Violet, 9, and Seraphina, 6.

Affleck had just returned to Los Angeles after filming scenes for "Suicide Squad" in Toronto on Wednesday.

On Thursday, OK! Magazine reported that a source claimed the couple is "already separated" and that Affleck wants the official statement to come out a few weeks before their 10th wedding anniversary on June 29, because he hopes it will give the news enough time to settle before he has to promote "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

If so, we've said it before and we'll say it again, love is dead.

Judge Halts Kelly Rutherford's Temporary Custody Order

$

0

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A court order that granted actress Kelly Rutherford temporary custody of her children to allow her to bring them back to Los Angeles from Monaco was halted Thursday.

Judge Maren E. Nelson, who presides over family law courts in Los Angeles, halted a ruling by another judge who expressed concerns that Rutherford's former husband violated terms of a 2013 custody order that allowed the children to live abroad.

Rutherford, who starred in "Melrose Place" and "Gossip Girl," has accused ex-husband Daniel Giersch of preventing her from seeing their children, which he denies. A summary of a hearing where Rutherford got custody last week didn't specify how Giersch may have violated the 2013 order.

His lawyer, Fahi Takesh Hallin, filed documents showing that a Monaco court now has jurisdiction over the children and claimed that Rutherford "made fraudulent statements, and lied and made misrepresentations by omission" to gain temporary custody.

A call to Rutherford's attorney, David J. Glass, was not immediately returned Friday.

Nelson's ruling prevents Rutherford from taking custody of her son and daughter until after judges in Monaco and Los Angeles confer about the case. That conversation is scheduled to take place June 11.

The way the case proceeds will be governed by rules that take effect when parents involved in a custody dispute live in different states or countries, said Steven Mindel, a Los Angeles divorce attorney who is not affiliated with the case.

Conferences between judges in two countries on custody issues are rare but occur once or twice a year, Mindel said. He said the California court may relinquish jurisdiction over the case since Rutherford has moved to New York and Giersch lives in Monaco.

Giersch and Rutherford married in 2006 and filed for divorce in Los Angeles two years later. They were granted a divorce in July 2010 and continued to fight over custody until the order allowed Giersch to keep the children abroad.

The pair has an 8-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter together.

Rutherford also has accused her ex-husband of trying to have a Monaco court change their citizenship. Giersch's filing states that the Monaco court does not have the authority to do that, and no request to alter the children's dual U.S.-German citizenship has been made.

Giersch was born in Germany.

Kelli Garner Says Marilyn Monroe Taught Her To Appreciate Her Curves

$

Kelli Garner is the latest actress to take on the role of Marilyn Monroe, and playing the screen legend taught her a thing or two about embracing her curves.

"I’m tinier than Marilyn was, but I still have some curves that I didn’t know what to do with,” Garner said when talking to Yahoo! Style about her role in Lifetime's "The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe." She worked with costume designer Gersha Phillips, who taught her about high-waisted pedal pushers and clothing that accentuates her neck. “Now that I’ve come back home from shooting, I’ve realized my closet is a shame. I need a complete overhaul.”

Embodying the 1950s bombshell made Garner rethink contemporary beauty standards.

“I was afraid to be too skinny, because they were filming for that kind of 1940s/’50s figure. I was trying to stay soft to get that body type," she said. “I would see Marilyn in a little bathing suit or jeans, and she would be laughing and she’d have a full belly coming over her jeans, which is so beautiful. If that is something that happened to me, Kelli, I’d be mortified. With our standards of beauty now, it’s like, ‘Oh you can’t have those rolls there.’ But I think Marilyn is one of the most stunning women who has every been around, and she was never in perfect shape.”

marilyn

The two-night miniseries, which premieres May 30, covers Monroe's life from 15 years old to 36, when she died. It explores her relationship with her mother, who was diagnosed with schizophrenia.

"[Monroe] lied about it; I think she told lots of weird different little stories," Garner told The Hollywood Reporter. "Mental health is still stigmatized, but back then, even [more]. I didn't know she spent a lot of her time with doctors, therapists. I didn't realize the fortitude she had. I didn't realize the great work ethic she had. She's a fighter, hard worker. She's a perfectionist — I think I share that with her. I didn't know how hard-core of a perfectionist she was until I started reading about it."

"The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe" begins May 30 at 8 pm EST on Lifetime.

This is the Italy we love

beautiful italy

The Italian landscape has always been a great attraction. The nature, the masterpieces of art, the enchanting cities. The quality of life is special. To let oneself go is only natural. And the Italians? Stereotypes depict them as outgoing and gallant. Lovers of the “Made in Italy” brand admire their creativity and know-how.

We have decided to introduce our readers to Italian excellence. Entrepreneurs and artisans, fashion designers and connoisseurs, inventors and farmers. We have selected 12 brands from different sectors: fashion, design, food, manufacturing and cars. This is an arbitrary number, of course. In addition to these 12, we could have picked out another 1,000 more examples of why we love Italy. Unique realities are to be found all over our country. Small, big, famous and secret. But we had to make a choice and we decided to choose quality and audacity as our main criteria. Think dynasties that have succeeded with intelligence, realities that have evolved courageously, and individuals who have walked new paths and come out victorious.

We invite you to read on and make your own ideal list of excellences, which we hope you will one day have the opportunity to discover and love.

Ladyfag's Pop Souk Taking Over Webster Hall May 31, 2015

$

0
This weekend, New York City nightlife icon Ladyfag will bring the fashion and art out of nightlife and into a daytime market where you can snatch eclectic items and meet some of the up-and-coming artists and designers of tomorrow.

Called Pop Souk, the pop up market will take place this year on a larger scale than ever before, filling the legendary Webster Hall -- from its balcony to the studio below -- with the work of almost 100 of downtown's NYC's budding creatives. Previous installments of Pop Souk have taken place on a smaller scale, like the 2013 market outside of the Standard Hotel.

Ladyfag, who was previously featured in the HuffPost Gay Voices series, "After Dark: NYC Nightlife Today And Days Past," has curated a massive line-up for this event, including Whatever21, BCALLA, TILLYandWILLIAM, Bond Hardware, Ben Copperwheat, Dominique Echeverria, Geoffrey Mac and Sir New York, among others. A full list of vendors can be found here.

Additionally, $1 of each $5 entry fee will be donated to the Ali Forney Center, benefiting queer homeless youth.

The Huffington Post spoke with Ladyfag this week about Pop Souk, how the pop up market has grown since its inception and what attendees can expect.

pop

The Huffington Post: What is your overarching vision for Pop Souk?
Pop Souk is a happening. Part market/part party. It's kind of a nexus of all my worlds. At the end, it's really about creating a platform for all of these amazing talented people I know and bringing my community together to share in an experience.

I sold vintage in Toronto for 10 years, so that's my background and will always be in my blood. In a way, throwing parties has a similar base for me -- it's about bringing people together and forming connections. Now people shop on the Internet, which is great if you want a particular product, but it's not the same thing as meeting the artists themselves and hearing about their passions. I loved the connection I had with so many clients over he years who became friends to me. We'd share our passion for certain designers, or swoon together over antique embroidery. It's about sharing the love of fashion and people's passions.

pop

How do you choose the artists whose work you feature?
In some ways Pop Souk is just a mirror of the "downtown" scene. Some of the vendors are such talented artists and I want to buy everything they make, and then some of them might just make cool t-shirts. But, more importantly, they're super cool kids who are part of what makes my bubble of New York City major. These kids don't follow trends -- they march to the beat of their own drums and create them. Everyone who does Pop Souk, from the artists to the DJs, are all people that inspire me. They're the heartbeat of NYC and the reason I love living here.

tilly

How has this event changed and grown since its inception?
I remember trying explain to my boyfriend years ago about this idea I had for Pop Souk, but it was hard because nothing like that existed. To explain it, it could sound like a flea market, which it's not. So I got a little team together and sort of used my vintage market and nightlife templates and combined them. When the first Pop Souk happened, my team stood behind me, but had doubts of what it could be. At the end they all gasped, because it really did become what I had dreamed of.

You have to come to understand. Once you get there you would never just call it a flea market -- there's a certain NYC magic to Pop Souk. It's growing in size and scope. We literally are taking over all of Webster Hall, from the studio below to the balcony above... it's huge! There are now nearly 100 artists taking part, and so I have a bigger responsibility to the artists to make sure I can help all of them. It's all still very DIY, so it has some bumps on the road. But we're all in this together and every year it gets better. Most business models want to grow to increase revenue, for better or for worse. That's never been my M.O. We're the anti-H&M... we're all about the magic!

bond

In the past, how have you seen Pop Souk inform and shape the fashion industry?
I've watched some of the artists who were just starting at Pop Souk grow and are now making big waves. From Zana Bayne, Chromat, Chris Habana, Gypsy Sport -- there's so many of them and I'm so proud of all them! Lots of fashion editors and stylists come to Pop Souk, so it does act as a platform for good exposure for them. In a way, Pop Souk is a nest for a lot of young artists, and this mama is more then happy to watch them take what they need from us, and then fly higher!

Pop Souk will take place at Webster Hall in New York City From 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2015.

26 Stunning Photos Of Women's Tattoos -- And The Stories Behind Them

Tattoo artist Kat Von D once said, “I am a canvas of my experiences, my story is etched in lines and shading, and you can read it on my arms, my legs, my shoulders, and my stomach.”

Tattoos are stories -- marked in ink and blood -- quietly traveling around us all day on shoulder blades and wrists and across entire backs. These stories can be powerful, uplifting and even heart-wrenching. They can symbolize a life-changing event, they can be in memory of someone special, or they might exist simply because they're beautiful.

We spoke with 26 women who shared photographs of their tattoos and the varied reasons they got them. Some tattoos came out of heartbreak, others from moments of celebration.

Here are 26 gorgeous images of women's tattoos and the stories behind each of them:

These Jane Pain Lingerie Ads Are Not What They Seem

Unconventional lingerie marketing is everywhere these days, but a new campaign for Argentinian fashion brand Jane Pain has done it in a completely fresh way.

In the clever ads, devised by the agency Conill Saatchi & Saatchi USA, sexy optical illusions are created by placing underwear over the bend of a knee, an armpit and an elbow.

A photo of the actual body part used accompanies the ad, along with the line, "If it can make your armpit [or knee or elbow] look sexy, imagine what it can do in the right place."

This is not the brand's first foray into edgy advertising. Back in 2012, Jane Pain's provocative campaign featured double-take-inducing photo editing that made models appear a lot more exposed than we're used to seeing in print ads.

What do you think of the provocative campaign? Sound off below!

Thongs could potentially become a trend of the past as millennials veer more toward full-coverage undergarments, but many women still have unanswered questions about the barely-there underwear. For example: Do thongs present a health risk? Can they spread infection or affect hygiene? HuffPost Live's Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani got to the bottom of it on Friday during a conversation with Dr. Lauren Streicher, a gynecologist and author of Sex Rx.

Watch Streicher separate fact from fiction in the video above, and click here to watch HuffPost Live's full conversation about thong underwear.

Ashley Graham's Ted Talk Is A Lesson In Body Acceptance

Ashley Graham, body activist, model, lingerie designer and all-around beautiful human, is taking her message of body love and acceptance on the road.

The co-founder of ALDA (a coalition of plus-size models) participated in a TEDx Talk in Valencia, Spain, on April 25, where she got real with a sold-out audience of 450 people.

Admiring the parts of her body some might consider "flaws" in a mirror ("Thick thighs, you're so sexy you can't stop rubbing each other," she joked), Graham shares her story, from her early days of plus-size modeling to her current status as a five-time magazine cover star and pioneer in the fight toward self love for all women.

Graham acknowledges that she, like so many other women, has dealt with a lack of confidence. "I would go home and look in the mirror and hate what I saw," she said. But learning to face her insecurities head-on is what allowed her to take back control of her body:

"I felt free, once I realized i was never going to fit the narrow mold that society wanted me to fit in. I was never going to be perfect enough for an industry that defines perfection from the outside in, and that's okay."

It certainly is. Check out the moving video above.

Nicki Minaj Talks Orgasms And Wage Equality Like The Queen She Is

Nicki Minaj is a woman who knows what she wants and gets it, in bed and in the workplace.

The rap goddess graces the cover of Cosmopolitan's July issue, and opened up about how orgasms are a must for her.

"I demand that I climax," she said. "I think women should demand that. I have a friend who's never had an orgasm in her life. In her life! That hurts my heart. It's cuckoo to me. We always have orgasm interventions where we, like, show her how to do stuff. We'll straddle each other, saying, 'You gotta get on him like that and do it like this.'"

"She says she's a pleaser. I'm a pleaser, but it's fifty-fifty," Minaj added.

Minaj also makes sure she gets what she wants when it comes to business matters. She is an advocate for women asking questions and being vocal in the workplace -- including discussions about salaries.

"Women are uncomfortable talking about money," she told Cosmo. "I know it's taboo to discuss it at work. Technically, you shouldn't, but you need to know what people around you are making. Otherwise, you're not going to know what you're worth. You have to ask questions. 'What is this person getting?' Do your research. I've always been pretty competitive in terms of my pay."

After a long day at work, I can definitely use a delicious snack, like these adorable "chick" deviled eggs, and a nice glass of white wine. But when my friends come over, its often hard to keep track of whose glass is whose. I'll be the first one to put my glass down somewhere, turn around, and forget which drink was mine.

Now with this creative and easy new DIY trick, I won't lose track of my wine glass again.

And what a fun idea! Now with a piece of chalk, my friends and I can label our wine glasses. Hey, Lil Mama!

The rapper and former "America's Best Dance Crew" judge is back with a video for "Sausage," and she's not talking about breakfast. In fact, the 25-year-old, who played Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes in the VH1 biopic "CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story," is all about safe sex on the new track: "You better use a condom if you taking that sausage."

In addition to her lyrics being educationally sound, the video is giving us full-on 90s vibes with some great dance sequences and a reference to Mary J. Blige's "Not Gon' Cry" video:
