Lucy Hale Shows Off Her 'Grown Up' Side In Racy V Magazine Spread

$

"Pretty Little Liars" may not officially be over -- we still have a whole season and a half to get through -- but Lucy Hale is ready to move on to more "grown up" things.

The 26-year-old appears in a new photo shoot for V magazine, in which she finally got to show the world that she is, in fact, not a teenager. Since we're used to seeing her decked out in pretty crazy outfits on the ABC Family show, these images seem understated, though definitely sexy, in comparison.

"I was really excited to do something a lot more grown up and show a different side of me," Hale explained to the magazine.

In the pictures, which were shot by photographer James Lee Wall, Hale is kind of giving off a "walk of shame" vibe. In one snap, she's seemingly walking away from someone (or someone's apartment) wearing only a shirt and a pair of stilettos as she looks back  over her shoulder. In another shot, we see her sprawled out on a bed wearing lingerie with a man on the other side, lying his body over the mattress.

In her interview with the mag, Hale talked about what she's hoping to get out of life after "PLL."

"I'll be done next October with ["Pretty Little Liars"] forever, which is exciting, but also scary at the same time because it's the next chapter of my life and so I'm really looking forward to exploring different and darker roles," she said.

She's set to star in an upcoming indie film, which she'll start shooting this fall.

"That's sort of the direction I want to head in. It's a little raunchy, so it'll be exciting," she explained.  But don't worry "PLL" fans, it won't be too over the top.

"You know, the fans of the show have sort of grown up with me, so it's a movie they can watch, but we'll push the envelope a little bit on it. It's a movie that's got a lot of heart, and morals, but the language! I get to drop the f-bomb every other line, which will be fun. This will be my first lead in a movie, which will be very exciting for me."

You can check out the rest of Hale's photo shoot, and read her entire interview, at VMagazine.com.

Here's What Would Happen If 1950s Fashion Models Were Still Around Today

$

0
Times have changed since the 1950s -- and that's definitely a good thing. If fashion models of the 1950s could time travel to 2015, I have a feeling things would quickly get out of hand.

Take a look...

Eyebrows on Fleek

"Herbert, would you get off the horn already?" Delores said impatiently. "I've got eyebrows on fleek-- and I simply must tell Edith the news."

Bae

"Say, Harriet," Dean stammered bashfully. "Now that we've started wearing matching sweaters, can I call you my bae?"

53e99fe6676b40f15bf4b437fb6ad639

"Now watch me whip!" Susan said breathlessly as a crowd formed around her. "Watch me nae nae!"

Revlon

"Well, Roger, I... I... I suppose I might have just one more," Dorothy murmured.

"YAAAAAAAAASSSSSS," Roger replied with a wolfish grin.

Signs

"Let's all make this symbol with our hands each time we take a picture together," Rose told Wilma. "Then everyone will know we're pals!"

"Gee, Rose, what a swell idea!" Wilma said. "I can't wait to tell the whole gang!"

YOLO, Betches

"YOLO, bitches!" Betty called out gaily to the other teens on the beach as she and Dorcas set sail on a 'borrowed' sailboat. "See you never!"

Ghosting

"I just can't with him anymore," Marjorie thought when Darren arrived at the party in a manky top hat and rented tails. "It's high time I ghosted this MF'er."

The Bachelor

I guess we're all ready now to spend some time necking with The Bachelor in the Fantasy Suite," Marjorie said.

"It's too bad Peg was sent packing in the last rose ceremony," Babs said wistfully. "She would have looked totes adorbs in that nightie."

Gals on Vacay

"Isn't this the life, Madge? Here we are, two single gals on vacation, 'bout to get TURNT!"

Its Waffles

"These delicious frozen waffles will ensure no one ever gets hangry in my house!" Marilyn bragged.

Maps

"This road map is hella cray," Loretta mused to herself. "I mean, you'd think by now SOMEONE would have come up with a satellite-based navigation system that uses triangulation to calculate the driver's exact location."

Ratchet

"Whatever possessed Millicent to bring that ratchetty umbrella on our walk?" Alice whispered.

"I'm sure I don't know, Louise replied. "And I specifically told her to wear a pink hat.  I'm putting her on blast at the drive-in tonight."

"Shit's about to get real," Alice nodded knowingly.

Lawnmower

"For goodness sakes, Harold," Dorothy giggled. "When you said you wanted to me to try out your new red lowrider, this is not what I had in mind!"

Bye Felicia

"Cathy heard Bobby's asking you to the sock hop," Brenda whispered into Joan's ear. "Now she's crying in the lavatory."

"Oh who cares about her?"Joan laughed. "She's so 1951. Bye Felicia."

Basic

"Why do you always insist on throwing shade, Susie?" Florence asked irritatedly. "The rest of us think this gigantic beach hat is a real gas!"

Watch Me Whip

"Did you see June and Mary Helen in those pants?" Joe said, elbowing Steve in the ribs. "There's nothing hotter than pants on a dame!"

"Yeah, they're all right," Steve said mildly. "Those bermudas, doe..." He chuckled mischievously.

Stay High

"What the...? Dammit, Annette, I told you snorting that flakka was a bad idea!"

Leapfrog

"Don't you think it's a bit odd that Mamie's husband always suggests leapfrog on our Bunco nights?" Myrna asked.

"SMH," Betty sighed. "S. M. Effing. H."

What Hiring A Plus-Size Angel Would Really Mean For Victoria's Secret

Victoria's Secret has become more popular than ever, while continuing to exclude plus-size women from its extensive pool of customers. Now, in an interview with E! News, plus-size model Denise Bidot is speaking out about what it would actually mean if the brand decided to add a curvy woman to its roster of Angels.

With the rising popularity of models of all different shapes and sizes and the push toward a more inclusive industry, there is no time like the present to give a plus-size model her wings. But bestowing the highly sought-after title upon the Denise Bidots of the industry would not just be a historic moment for the fashion industry -- it would mean changing Victoria's Secret for good.

 Denise Bidot

Hiring a curvy woman to walk the runway in Victoria's Secret products would mean expanding sizes to offer products curvy women can actually fit into, a notion that is not lost on Bidot.

"It would be such a huge statement from Victoria's Secret especially because for so long, as a curvy woman, I haven't been able to shop there, able to fit in a lot of their stuff. I think it would be a way to embrace us and make us feel like they get it ... they get we're beautiful and they are embracing all sorts of sizes and diversity," she told E!

Lane Bryant's "I'm No Angel" campaign was highly regarded for its diverse models and poignant message that sexy goes beyond size. Bringing on a curvy model to walk in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show would take one more step toward an equal playing field for all models. "Why does it have to be straight size vs plus-sized. I think it is one big industry," Bidot said.

An image from Lane Bryant's "I'm No Angel" campaign

It's all still speculation for now, but here's hoping the brand puts it into action someday soon.

Greta Gerwig Reflects On Her Failed 'Gossip Girl' Audition

Before she was writing and acting in films like "Frances Ha" and "Mistress America," Greta Gerwig was attempting to secure roles in other projects -- including the CW's famed teen series "Gossip Girl." Much to Gerwig's disappointment, however, the audition didn't go as well as she'd planned, the actress revealed in a HuffPost Live interview on Tuesday.

"They were like, 'Why did you wear overalls to this audition?'" she recalled of the show's casting staff. "I'd be like, 'They said she was from a farm,' and they were like, 'But this is 'Gossip Girl!'"

The experience taught Gerwig that she was somewhat out of the Hollywood norm, a hard thing for the 32-year-old to grapple with at the time.

"There were moments like that, where I realized I didn't fit the thing that they wanted, but I always wanted to be part of them," she said. "I wish they had wanted me, but they didn't."

But there was a silver-lining for the actress, who's now made a career out of writing interesting female roles for herself. By not conforming to what these shows were looking for, Gerwig could embrace who she naturally was.

"I think if I had been more successful at changing myself, then I wouldn't have [become authentic]. But luckily, I just failed at it," she recounted. "I had no choice but to be authentic because people were like, 'Even when you blow out your hair and do a whole thing, we still don't believe you.' I was like, 'Great! Then I guess I'll just be who I am.'"

Beauty Queen Arrested For Allegedly Faking Cancer For Cash

Police arrested a beauty queen on Monday who they say bilked people out of thousands of dollars by convincing them she had cancer.

Brandi Weaver-Gates, this year's Miss Pennsylvania U.S. International, was arrested and charged with theft by deception and receiving stolen property, according to a news release from the Pennsylvania State Police.

Authorities began investigating after they received an anonymous note saying Weaver-Gates was "faking" cancer, the release said.

The 23-year-old announced in March 2013 that she had been diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Since then, she has held multiple fundraisers to cover costs related to her illness, the release said.

The most recent event, called Bingo for Brandi, was held in April and raised $14,000, police said, according to local news outlet WJAC.

Thank you, Maggi Mitsubishi for letting me showcase your car in not only the Bellefonte 4th of July parade, but also the...

Posted by Brandi Weaver-Gates on Tuesday, July 7, 2015

Weaver-Gates made relatives drive her to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, State Police Trooper Thomas Stock told the station. They would sit for hours in the waiting room while Weaver-Gates said she was receiving treatment in another part of the hospital.

Weaver-Gates gave police a copy of a bill from Johns Hopkins, but authorities said it turned out to be fake.

Weaver-Gates does not have an attorney listed, according to an employee at the Centre County Correctional Facility, where Weaver-Gates is being held.

Butler’s Beauties, which runs Miss Pennsylvania U.S. International, said in a statement that Weaver-Gates did not live up to the expectations the organization has for its title holders.

"We at Butler’s Beauties are saddened to hear of the news of Miss Brandy Weaver-Gates," the statement said. "We were also led to believe that she was dealing with this horrible disease and stood by her as she struggled being a beauty queen and a cancer patient."

"Butler’s Beauties believes that with a crown and sash you can accomplish many great things as a role model, spokesmodel and community leader as a beauty pageant queen," the statement continued. "When you deceive the public and take people’s money that is under the pretense of fraud, we will not tolerate those actions."

Butler's Beauties said Weaver-Gates has been stripped of her title and will be expected to turn in her crown and sash "upon her release from being detained."

Amandla Stenberg Is Fearless And Awesome In 'Dazed' Magazine

Amandla Stenberg is oozing #BlackGirlMagic on the latest cover of ‘Dazed’ magazine.

The 16-year-old "Hunger Games" star posed on the cover with the words of activist Angela Davis written across her face. The issue, which features four different young celebs on varying covers, celebrates Stenberg and her work, both on and offscreen.

Stenberg has always -- and seemingly even more so in recent weeks-- discussed racial politics and relentlessly defended black women. In April, she completed a school project detailing the dangerous reality of cultural appropriation. Months later, she called out Kylie Jenner for committing it and immediately attracted a parade of socially-conscious individuals who praised her contributions to the issue.

But Stenberg never mentioned Jenner in the cover story nor should she have to. Instead, she focused on her own personal agenda and growth. She has several projects lined up and said she enjoys spending her free time dabbling in artistic activities -- oh, and maybe even hanging out and dancing around with Willow Smith.

While Stenberg may be young, she doesn't want her age to distort your perceptions of her or her peers. “I think people discredit teenagers and how wise they can be,” Stenberg told the magazine. “Sometimes I meet teenagers who are much wiser than many adults I’ve met, because they haven’t let any insecurities or doubts about themselves get in the way of their thoughts.”

Looking forward, she said she would love to continue to collect more acting credits and perhaps even become a director one day. The latter dream is one she’d particularly love to fulfill -- especially if it meant she could work under the guidance of director Spike Lee.

“I think I would die, studying with him. As much as I want to be fulfilled creatively as an actress, and get to be in roles that are meaningful and impactful, I hope the same thing for myself as a director, one day,” she said.

“I want to make things that have an impact on how we look at the world. I know it’s a tall glass to fill, but it’s a glass that really does need to be filled, as an African American woman.”

At the rate she’s going, nothing seems impossible for Stenberg.

How Not To Objectify Women, A Handy Guide

$

"How do you disentangle the biological facts of attraction and even lust from the more culturally manufactured patterns of sexually objectifying women in all contexts, everywhere all the time?" asks Cristen Conger of Stuff Mom Never Told You.

"Pretty simple: Don't treat women like Barbie dolls."

For anyone (man or woman) who doesn't totally understand what "sexual objectification" means, Conger is here to help. In under three minutes, she delivers a crash course in what it means to treat people -- specifically, woman people -- like sex objects.

Conger breaks down the key difference between thinking someone is super duper sexy and sexually objectifying that person. Mostly, it comes down to autonomy and agency -- and making sure that you are taking into account the wants and needs of the person you have the hots for.

"Much like women who are sexually objectified, Barbie has no autonomy," Conger says. "Barbie can't talk back and express whether she wants to play with you or not... And as an object, she's interchangeable. She's just a collection of plastic body parts, not a body that makes up a collective person."

And, really, isn't it way sexier when the person you're into -- a human being with fully-formed desires, characteristics and interests -- can express that he or she thinks you're sexy right back?

Kylie Jenner Was Clearly Unfazed By Appropriation Criticism, Because She's Back In Cornrows

$

Kylie Jenner is either a glutton for punishment, or she was just really unfazed by claims she was appropriating black culture the last time shared a photo of herself wearing cornrows.

If you haven't been keeping up with Kylie, the reality star celebrated turning 18 with a huge party this past Sunday. In true Kardashian-Jenner fashion, she made quite the entrance by showing up with a blonde weave.

Now, in case anyone isn't aware -- it's called a "weave" because the hair extensions are sewn or woven on top of one's own hair, which is often braided into cornrows so that the extensions will have a base to be sewn onto. So, there's a logical reason why Jenner was wearing cornrows again -- it's not quite as logical as to why she'd be cool with her pal Pia Mia Perez sharing a photo of her with the hairstyle on Instagram (though it's telling that the photo has since been deleted from Perez's account).

Meanwhile, Jenner also took to  Snapchat while she was wearing cornrows, sharing a video of her and Perez taking a nap. It seemed like a clear message she didn't care about the previous, or impending, criticism

'Modern Family' Star Ariel Winter Opens Up About Breast Reduction Surgery

"Modern Family" star Ariel Winter has opened up about her decision to have breast reduction surgery

In an interview with Glamour magazine, the 17-year-old actress (who plays Alex Dunphy on the hit TV show) discussed why she chose to have the procedure done and how it's helped her confidence.

Like most teens, Winter's body seemingly changed overnight.

"I remember being in my sister’s wedding and being so flat and thinking, ‘I just wish I would grow boobs!’ and then overnight I did. But then they kept growing and growing and growing and it didn’t seem like they were going to stop," she said. "I was 15 years old with [size] F [breasts]. It’s like, ‘How do you navigate that?'"

Not only did her chest make it difficult to find clothes that fit properly, it also became the center of a whole lot of media attention. Outlets like E! ran with headlines such as, "Ariel Winter's Cleavage Is Out of Control" and "Ariel Winter Rocks Crazy Cleavage Once Again," choosing to focus on her body and not her work. But not all teens want their changing bodies to be trending topics on the Internet.

"We live in a day and age where everything you do is ridiculed," Winter said. "The Internet bullies are awful. I could post a photo where I feel good, and 500 people will comment about how fat I am and that I am disgusting."

She added, "That’s [her cleavage] pretty much all I was known for and that upset me. It made me feel really uncomfortable because as women in the industry, we are totally over sexualized and treated like objects."

Aside from the emotional stress, Winter admits her chest was also the cause of physical pain. When it got so bad that she couldn't take it, she started thinking about breast reduction surgery. Winter noted her family has a "history of large breasts" so it wasn't too surprising when she brought up the idea.

"A few of my cousins have had breast reductions, so it wasn’t a shock when I decided to get one. I got it for myself. I can’t even really put it into words about how amazing it feels to really feel right."

The teen star knows the physical change is likely what everyone will be focused on, but for her, it's the emotional change that's most important.

"This is how I was supposed to be."

Supermodel Gigi Hadid may be relatively new to the runway compared to friends like Cara Delevingne and Karlie Kloss, but she's a quick study, walking her way to the top at a fast clip. From New York to Paris, Desigual to Dolce & Gabbana, here are 10 of her best runway moments.

The Heroines of Final Fantasy Are Bad Bitches

If there's anyone that embodies the title "Bad Bitch," it's the heroines of the Japanese gaming world. Don't be quick to oversexuallize, or intellectually diminish, the term. Per Urban Dictionary, a Bad Bitch is defined as:

A self respected, strong female who has everything together. That consists of body, mind, finances, and swagger. Also, a female who does & gets hers by any means necessary.

If my current self and ten-year-old gaming self could agree on one thing, it would be that the guerilla-style trained assassins of Final Fantasy X-2, Yuna, Rikku, and Paine, unquestionably fit this mold. If you've ever played the Final Fantasy series, you know the influence it's had on style, cinema, and female bravado in the gaming world. X-2 features an all-female main cast, and a dangerously enchanting one at that. Rikku, Yuna, and Paine, are a crew of lethal activists, femme fatales, and unexpected style icons.

In Opening Ceremony's new editorial, Assassins In Rodarte, the brand re-created their looks. Check them out here.

Entrepreneurs: Eric Leonardos, "How to Audit Your Salon": Candid Advice From the Heart of Hollywood

$

2015-08-11-1439314199-5602094-stylist_eric.jpg

Age: 34

Give us the skinny on your background!
In 2002 I started doing makeup for Ruiz Salon in Austin, TX. I was really confused and conflicted about what career path I should take. I had a strong desire to do hair and makeup, but was really nervous about what that meant in terms of work and cost. I had even considered getting my real-estate license at the time. And then, I met Julie Morgan, a makeup artist that had just moved to Austin from New York city with her husband. At that time, I was working in a furniture store on the same block as the salon where she was working. Julie was the talk of the town. She came into the furniture store one day and instead of selling her furniture like I should have been doing, I began to pick her brain about being a makeup artist. She told me that she was impressed by my knowledge of the industry and Julie then invited me to tag along while she did makeup for a photo shoot for a glamour magazine. Afterwards, Julie offered to teach me makeup if I brought her models to practice on. It was an incredibly generous offer and I began to shadow Julie and spend my lunch breaks in the salon just to observe. This opportunity allowed me to build a relationship with the salon owners, Allen Ruiz and Heath Smith. I did this for a year and in a weird twist of fate, Julie decided to move back to New York and the salon owners hired me as her replacement. In addition, they generously financed my formal education in makeup. I worked for the salon for 5 years before I made the big move to Los Angeles when I turned 26!

To be honest, the first year in LA was a struggle. I was having a difficult time even getting an assistant job to a makeup artist let alone securing a talent agent to represent me. I had to take a job in a different field at Bloomingdales just to pay the rent. I was thinking, "What am I doing here? This isn't what I moved to LA to do!" I was at Bloomingdales for 3 years and this was during the recession. I wasn't getting any younger and I knew I had to go to cosmetology school -- to do what I was supposed to be doing -- hair and makeup. Then, the unthinkable happened. I was granted a scholarship to attend a brand new Aveda Institute in Austin, TX.

Time out -- You got a scholarship for cosmetology school? I didn't even know that was a possibility!
Yes! I had kept a close relationship with the owners of Ruiz salon even after I moved to LA. While I was working in LA, Aveda built an institute in Austin, TX and extended a scholarship offer to the owners of the salon I used to work at. They interviewed me along with a few other candidates and decided to offer the scholarship to me! Scholarships are hard to come by. If you don't necessarily have the means for one of the higher-end beauty schools, I would recommend getting your license via community college and then working with a higher-end salon to perfect your technique. Salon owners really just want to work with stylists that are easy to work with and provide their clients with a positive experience. Technique can be learned in the studio while you're assisting the other stylists. Like anything, hands-on experience is the best and if you have passion that can go very far.

What did you do after you got your cosmetology license?
Well, my heart was in LA. I was torn, because I felt a sense of loyalty to Ruiz salon that extended the scholarship, but I also knew that Austin wasn't my first choice as a location to build my career. The owner of Ruiz salon sat me down and said, "Listen, you don't want to be in Austin, if you did... you would know it." He was incredibly helpful and understanding. He allowed me to work for a few more months to get my ducks in a row and then referred me to Ginger Boyle owner of Planet Salon, where I've been gainfully working for several years. As a hairdresser and makeup artist, how do you find a salon you want to work for/with? Do you audit salons? Do you base your decision on the type of clientele you see in the chairs?
I would absolutely advise rising stylists and makeup artists to audit salons. Maybe even go in for a service once or twice. It's very common for salons to have drama among its stylists and owners. I hate to say it, but a lot of salon owners can develop a real ego over the years. That's not the kind of salon you want to end up at. You should interview them as much as they're going to interview you. Try not to jump at the first offer. If you are confident in your work, let them know that you have options and don't necessarily take the first opportunity that comes along. Know yourself, know your limitations, don't oversell but definitely don't undersell. I interviewed at 7 different salons in one week before I accepted an offer. A lot of salons will allow you to come in and shadow another stylist for a day after the first interview. It gives you a real sense of what the energy is like and allows you to form an educated and informed opinion. Like any job, these people are going to be your work family. You want to respect them, get to know them and make sure you're compatible.

Also, you should absolutely take into consideration the clientele in the chair and where the salon is located. If you want to work with the client that appreciates a real experience during their time in the chair then you might look at a more upscale salon like Planet Salon. If you prefer the client that wants to be in and out in 15 minutes then you might want to look at chic barbershops -- there is something for every taste in this industry.

Can you offer new salon owners a few tips to make their client experience as pleasant as possible?
One of my biggest recommendations would be to get your clients into the habit of booking appointments instead of just walking in. When clients stop by without an appointment, it's unlikely that they're going to get the stylist they want on the spot and the clients are just going to leave feeling irritated.
1. Tell your clients when you want to see them next and try to pre-book the appointment.
2. Provide a confirmation call a day or two before the appointment.
3. Ensure that you educate your clients on the salon cancelation policy. Your time is valuable, they should be held accountable if they waste it and no-show for an appointment.
4. Invest in salon software like SalonBiz to give your stylists the power to book appointments from their cell phones and never miss a booking opportunity. A lot of clients have a personal relationship with their stylists and feel more comfortable shooting them a text vs. contacting the salon receptionist. In addition, it provides confirmation emails and allows you to record notes in your client's profile, among other helpful features. It's great software.

Alright, break it down for the readers. What does a high-end salon offer its clients with an $85+ haircut vs. a $30 cut at a less upscale salon?
If a salon is charging you $85+ they should be providing an experience with your cut. It's not really about getting you in and out in 15 minutes. They cater to the client that enjoys being pampered. In my experience, working for Planet Salon, a few of the things you should be able to expect at this price point are:
1. Location, location, location; Salon should be in an upscale area.
2. The level of customer service should be top notch, with a greeting, t-shirt or robe and even coffee or tea if not champagne.
3. Wash and dry.
4. Neck, scalp, hand massage.
5. They should block off an hour for your cut and there should be no time pressure.
6. Complimentary neck and sideburn trims in between cuts.
7. They should be using quality hair products on each client... not just selling them.
8. The space should be aesthetically pleasing with newer/modern décor and equipment.
9. Stylists should be continuing their education to keep abreast of new cuts and trends.

Ultimately, beyond the experience and the pampering, and the customer service, a high-end salon should have remarkable stylists that will provide the customer with results. Just because you have a fancy salon doesn't necessarily mean you will get a good cut, color or makeup.

What kind of qualifications should I look for when searching for a new hairdresser?
Look at their reviews, their instagram or other social media presence. Do you like their work? The best way to find a good stylist is through word of mouth. In terms of education, it's an interesting tiered existence. You could also look at their level of education. And here's the way to understand the quality and rank. There are a number of classes they can take at a community college that will ensure a passing grade to meet the state board requirements -- sometimes this will cost $5k or less, but might take a little bit longer than a year. However, these community colleges and state boards aren't really concerned about a graduate's technical abilities. Then there are mid-range schools like Marinello that try to teach candidates the technical skills, but sadly, they often miss the mark -- somewhere between $13k-18k/yr. A couple of the higher-ranking schools would be Paul Mitchell, Toni & Guy, Aveda Institute or Vidal Sassoon Academy -- somewhere between $20k-$25k/yr. However, the quality of education might differ according to the school's location. I think that the bigger the franchise, the more watered down the level of education may be. In order to make it into an upscale salon you'll need a bit of continued education that most salons will provide through apprenticeship, assistant or internship programs. One of the things that really attracted me to my current salon, Planet Salon was the fact that they provided me with the continued education I needed to learn and grow within the salon. When a salon invests the time and energy into these continued education programs, the quality control factor is escalated to a consistent level.

Of all the September issues, none is more highly anticipated than Vogue's. There is an entire movie dedicated to it, for crying out loud.

And now, it seems the wait for this year's cover is finally over. After a leaked photo from a fan page made its way around the Internet Wednesday night, Vogue confirmed via Instagram and on its site Thursday morning that the "Flawless" songstress is, in fact, its cover star once again.

This is the third time that Queen Bey has appeared on the cover of U.S. Vogue. She previously posed for the covers of the March 2013 and the April 2009 issues.

According to MTV, the 33-year-old singer, who Stella McCartney calls "the whole package: primal, rare, delicate, beautiful and powerful" in a preview for the story, is the third black female, after Naomi Campbell and Halle Berry, to appear alone on the September cover.

Shot by famed photographer Mario Testino, she looks absolutely stunning (as usual) in a Marc Jacobs dress and in the accompanying video posted to Vogue's site. We can't wait to get our hands on a copy when it officially hits newsstands Aug 25.

You can accuse Madonna of a lot of things, but playing it safe with style isn't one of them. This lady is known just as much for her bold fashion statements as she is for her killer vocal cords. Over the years, we've seen her in some pretty insane outfits, both on the red carpet and onstage. From her infamous Jean Paul Gaultier cone bra of 1990 to her Marilyn Monroe moment at the Oscars in 1991 to the suit she wore to the Grammys in 2014, Madonna always keeps us gawking.

In honor of the singer's 57th birthday on Sunday, we're taking a look at her best outfits over the years and ranking them according to badassery. Feel free to disagree with our picks, but you'd be wrong.

8 Things You Absolutely Need To Know Before Getting A Bikini Wax

$

There are perhaps no two words in the English language as feared as "bikini wax." Women dread them, postpone them and complain about them. But as anyone who has had a few waxes knows, it actually isn't so bad -- provided you are well informed.

But many people don't actually know some basic rules for waxing. Is double dipping applicators okay? Can you get waxed while pregnant? How about on your period? To help answer all these burning questions, we chatted with Melanie Gilliland, European Wax Center’s chief wax expert and educator and a licensed esthetician. Here are eight things you need to know before getting waxed, according to Gilliland:

 1. It gets easier.

"I wish people knew that the service becomes easier and easier with every visit. I think sometimes people hesitate to try it or don't continue with it after their first service because they are deterred by pain. After the first one, it is so much easier and only gets easier from there."

2. Do NOT trying waxing for the first time when you're pregnant.

"If you wax before you are pregnant, you can continue to wax throughout. I have waxed many woman the day or week before [their] due date. Guests like to get waxed as close as possible to delivery, as they will not be able to get another wax until their doctor clears them. I encourage anyone even trying to get pregnant to start waxing now. It becomes very challenging to tend to the area as you grow, and hair becomes thicker during pregnancy due to hormonal changes. We do not encourage guests to start waxing for the first time during the third trimester. It's something that should have been started earlier."

3. Watch out for these red flags at your waxing parlor.

"An area behind a curtain, as opposed to private room for waxing -- if the space is not a priority than the technique is not either. Double dipping sticks, a dirty room or wax pot [and] no gloves."

4. It's OK to get a wax on your period, but...

"It's all about sticking to a schedule, so if your reservation falls during your cycle, you should still get your wax. I would not recommend your first wax during your period as it will make the experience more uncomfortable, but during the year it is bound to happen. Just wear a tampon and let your wax specialist know."

5. The long terms effects of waxing down there are worth the pain.

"Hair will always become finer, softer and more sparse with waxing. The degree and speed of those results vary by the individual. I've had guests that have seen fifty percent hair reduction in three or four visits; for others it may take more time."

 6. The type of wax you use matters.

"Hard stripless wax is the only way to go. Honey wax is a thing of the past -- it's messy and too hot and can really damage the skin. Not to mention, it hurts a lot more."

7. There IS a way to make waxing less painful.

"You can certainly take an Advil if you'd like, but the best thing to do to reduce pain is to stick to the schedule. The hair should be not too short [or] too long. Oh, and try to stay relaxed. Talk to your waxer to distract yourself and keep your muscles as relaxed as possible."

8. Don't workout right before or right after a wax.

"[Sweat] may interfere with the wax adhering to the hair. Working out right after may cause an adverse reaction to your freshly waxed skin. We recommend waiting 24 to 48 hours [before hitting] the gym, especially if you are new to waxing. You want to keep the area clean to avoid irritation."

How do you wear your lovely lady locks? In a bun? In a twist? Short? Long? In braids or dreads? Au natural?

A new adult coloring book by Andrea Pippins, called I Love My Hair, features delicate ink renderings devoted to a woman's mane, which, as most know, works much harder than your average heap of dead cells.

I Love My Hair is the latest iteration of the adult coloring book craze, causing many a grown-up to dig out their Crayola best and rediscover their inner first grader. The benefits, aside from a good time, range from rediscovering your creative voice, to de-stressing to entering a nostalgic and meditative state. "I recommend it as a relaxation technique," psychologist Antoni Martínez explained to The Huffington Post. "We can use it to enter into a more creative, freer state. I recommend it in a quiet environment, even with chill music. Let the color and the lines flow."

While the existing variety of coloring books run the gamut mandalasnaturescapes and famous artworks are just a few out there -- never before has the genre tackled this more hirsute subject matter. The book features delicate illustrations of mohawks, updos and everything in between, as well as the mops of historical hair icons like Cleopatra, Marie Antoinette and Diana Ross.

Pippins, a Brazilian-born designer, illustrator and teacher, is known for digital and screen-printed artwork that speaks to her experiences as a woman of color. In her first-ever coloring book, Pippins lays the foundation for any humble colorer to unleash her creative potential. From a geisha's ornate shimada 'do to a disembodied mass of tangled curls, Pippins' imaginative images will inspire your inner artist and fashionista.

I Love My Hair, published by Random House books, will be on sale November 10, 2015. In the meantime, enjoy a preview of the work below.
