Jane Seymour Talks Candidly About Botox And Plastic Surgery

At 64, Jane Seymour says her secret to aging gracefully has nothing to do with going under the knife or getting fancy fillers.

The former Bond girl and veteran TV actress says aging gracefully has got more to do with accepting changes rather than fighting them.

“I tried Botox but didn’t like it," Seymour told The Express in a recent interview. "I could see it in my face and I can see it in other people too ... I’d rather be the best I can be at the age I’m at," Seymour said, adding, she likes her wrinkles "too much."

Seymour reveals she instead focuses on her health to keep herself looking her best and feeling good, inside and out. "If you look your best, it builds your self-esteem," she said, adding that she regularly does pilates, light weights, spinning and that she tries to walk as much as possible to stay fit. "Everything in moderation."

She told Closer Weekly in a 2014 interview that she was in better shape now in her 60s than she was when she first rose to fame as a Bond girl opposite Roger Moore in the 1973 film "Live and Let Die."

And there are photos to prove it. Seymour looked stunning as she posed in a hot pink bikini for Closer Weekly just before her 63rd birthday. She says she was praised for showing that a love of life (and sex appeal) don't disappear as you get older.

Indeed, Seymour's career is still going strong with a guest role on the hit show "Jane The Virgin" and several upcoming films.

Fashion trends will come and go, but after seeing these animals wearing wigs, you'll agree that some styles are timeless.

Have a look at that confident pooch, sporting golden locks and a lime green blouse. She's ready for a day at the groomer. Or the horse with such stunning braids. They sure do accentuate the long face.

Just beware of this cat in the pink wig. The neon color really highlights that piercing gaze.

Kurt Cobain's 'Unplugged' Sweater Expected To Sell For $60,000 At Auction

$

For all we know, Kurt Cobain bought the green sweater he wore during his 1993 appearance on MTV's "Unplugged" at a thrift store for under $10.

Twenty-two years later, that now iconic cardigan is expected to fetch up to $60,000 in a live auction, which opens Nov. 7.

The size medium, Manhattan brand sweater (which is a "blend of acrylic, mohair and Lycra") is missing one button and has a a burn hole and some discoloration near the left pocket and on the right pocket. The item is being sold on Julien's Auctions and was obtained by a "close friend of the Cobain family."

Anyone willing to possibly shell out $60,000 large for a piece of music history will also receive a signed letter of authenticity.

Those looking for a more intimate (and grosser) keepsake from the Nirvana frontman's legacy can bid on a real lock of his blond tresses, which was originally given to a dollmaker by Cobain's wife, Courtney Love, for their daughter Frances. Bidding starts at $4,000, but Julien's anticipates someone out there will probably spend up to $10,000 on the 10-inch lock of hair.

Also up for auction are a Platinum record plaque for "Nevermind" and a Gold record plaque for "In Utero" that are expected to fetch around $500 each.

These items are only the low side of prices when it comes to Cobain memorabilia. Previously, a smashed guitar that once belonged to Cobain was sold for $100,000 in 2008, while a collector paid $131,000 at a 2006 auction for the late rock star's Mosrite Gospel Mark IV guitar.

Garance Doré Spills Her Secrets About French Girl Style

$
0
0

It's widely accepted that French women have it going on when it comes to style. There's a reason we can't stop pinning Parisian street-style snaps or gushing over the glory days when Coco Chanel reigned from 31 Rue Cambon. Taste is just in their DNA. The question is, how do us mere mortals achieve the same level of chic?

To get the 411, we sat down with French photographer, illustrator and blogger Garance Doré. Doré recently partnered with Club Monaco to launch her first book, "Love Style Life," a lighthearted, beautifully designed lifestyle guide filtered through her experience working with French and American fashion. Despite its glamorous subject matter, the book is extremely down to earth. We all think of French style as being out of reach (and friggin' expensive), but Doré prefers to keep it accessible. Amazing, right?

To burst the misconceptions about what it means to be stylish (hint: it has nothing to do with cash), Doré shared with us her thoughts on what really makes French women - and all women, for that matter - so effortlessly elegant.

On developing personal style

When it comes to dressing ourselves, Doré says it's about patience: “I think it’s all trial and error, and I also think that your style will change and evolve," she told The Huffington Post. "So, it’s more like a work in progress. There is not one day where you’re going to be like, 'That’s it! I’ve found it!'"

But you can't get lazy and give up: “You have to accept it and work with it and play with it, and I think that’s the secret to style. Keep your spirit of play." Most importantly, Doré notes that having style doesn't mean you have to splurge: "[Style] is not about money. It’s really about searching and having fun. it’s about self-expression. Self-expression can never be contained or stuck. It has to keep going.”

On what makes French women so stylish

While most fashion experts talk in terms of trendy shoes and sleek silhouettes, Doré instead says the French woman's secret to sophistication as being armed with knowledge. "Know yourself ... The secret of French style is women really try to see how they look in the clothes and wear only what suits them."

On what makes all women stylish

For Doré, nothing beats inner beauty. She's worked with women from all walks of life -- from Drew Barrymore to Jenna Lyons -- and she thinks stylish women have one thing in common: "Kindness. Kindness stems from intelligence and generosity. You don’t just want to remember a great jacket. What you want to remember is the aura that the person has, and this comes from much deeper.”

On great hair

We couldn't help but inquire about Doré's beauty routine, especially that perfectly coiffed hair. In typical French girl fashion, she advocates a less is more approach: "I don’t blow dry it. I’m too lazy.” She prefers to let it air dry for a natural look. She did say that there's one hair product she can't live without, and it's not what you'd think. After washing her hair, Doré applies a tiny drop of L'Oreal Paris Nourish Extraordinary OilIt's hydrating and low maintenance.

On chopping off her locks

Doré is also a big fan of the shorter hair look. After having long hair for years, she likes how rocking a sleeker style makes her feel: “I feel much more comfortable in my own skin.” This is great news for all those considering a dramatic hair change.

The Comb-Over Is The New Man Bun, So Get Used To It

$

Ah, the comb-over. The enduring hairstyle of manly denial. Of antigravity. Of showing which direction and how strong the wind is blowing. Out of 100 years of hairstyles, it might be the worst.

And yet.

The comb-over has evolved, and is a huge and growing trend. According to a Google analytics report out in October about beauty trends, there has been 6 percent more interest in men's hairstyles than in women's (the first year that's happened), and people are searching for "comb-over" nearly as much as "how to grow a man bun."

It seems the comb-over isn't blowing over any time soon.

We can thank Don Draper for the trend's regrowth.

"I feel like it started with 'Mad Men,'" Lorraine Carlin, the creative director and a stylist at Truman's Gentlemen's Groomers in New York City told The Huffington Post.

And now, "It’s kind of popular everywhere, even trendy for the younger guys who take it to a different extreme," she said.

They get a barber-shop style buzz on the sides to keep it really short, whereas businessmen keep it a little longer on the sides, and longer still on the top.

The most important factor is the side-part, which you technically comb over, but Carlin emphasizes that she keeps "comb-over" out of her lexicon.

"It's really important to avoid using 'comb-over' anywhere in the conversation," she said, because "that gets [clients] really nervous like they’re trying to hide something."

Instead, she calls it the side-part.

To get one for yourself, she recommends telling your barber or stylist that you want to change your hair and start parting it on the side, keeping the top long and bringing the sides in short. You can always show them the below pictures.

Every style evolves, and the comb-over definitely needed improvement. Thanks, Don. We're into it.

Kylie Jenner Sports Massive Septum Ring In Her Latest Photo Shoot

This is a new look for Kylie Jenner.

The 18-year-old prides herself on being a chameleon -- as long as she doesn't have to commit to anything. That's why faux facial piercings and wigs of all lengths and colors are perfectly suited for the reality star.

Jenner has been promoting her Elle Canada cover story for several weeks (readers can vote on which photo makes the cover) and on Tuesday she offered fans a sneak peek inside the magazine's pages. In one black-and-white close-up photo, it's hard to miss the massive septum ring which hangs so low it touches the top of Jenner's plumped-up lips.

A photo posted by King Kylie (@kyliejenner) on

Perhaps she was taking a cue from older sister Kendall, who broke out an even larger faux nose ring for Coachella 2014.

Meanwhile, both Kylie and Elle Canada shared a couple other photos from the magazine's December issue, which also has the star opening up about some of the cruel comments she regularly receives on social media.

“I mean … I’m still human; I can’t come across something so hurtful and just brush it off and go on with my day. It’s really hard, and I’m still growing up," she explained. "Surprisingly, it wasn’t as hard for me when I was younger. When I was 15 or 16, I never looked at the comments; I never Googled myself -- I wouldn’t go there. I didn’t even know about any of these mean blogs. I know that if you don’t read it, it doesn’t affect you, but it’s still hard.”

Homeless Women Often Can't Afford Bras. So This Advocate Donated Over 1,000 Of Them

$

Homeless shelters often get loads of clothing donations, but nowhere near enough undergarments, which leaves women in need without bras and feeling uncomfortable, ashamed and undignified.

“There’s still a stigma around periods and bras. It’s taboo and sexualized,” Dana Marlowe, an advocate for homeless women, told The Huffington Post. “Bras are so essential for women: for health, self-esteem, employment and more.”

After losing a significant amount of weight recently, Marlowe, a principal partner at a consulting firm, was excited to purchase new clothes, but was despondent about the amount of money she’d have to spend on new bras. And when Marlowe learned that women in need often go completely without undergarments because they can’t afford them and they don’t typically get donated, she launched a collection drive this past summer.

Those efforts paid off this week when Marlowe dropped off more than 1,000 bras to Thrive DC, a Washington, D.C., group that works to prevent and end homelessness.

“I lamented the cost of new ones and the good quality of my existing, now ill-fitting bras,” Marlowe said. “Then it clicked, here I was, a woman with a comfortable lifestyle, complaining.”

She also included more than 7,000 tampons for the shelter in her delivery.

Marlowe dubbed the project “Support the Girls,” and once the word got out, donations started pouring in locally and from supporters around the world.

While advocates are heartened that awareness surrounding the need for bras and feminine hygiene products is starting to pick up, they say that much more still needs to be done to get supporters involved.

Distributing Dignity, a nonprofit that works in New Jersey and Philadelphia, is one of a few organizations that works to bring bras and tampons to women in shelters.

Founders Joanie Balderstone and Rebecca McIntire learned about the issue while they were donating business clothes to a shelter in Camden, New Jersey, in 2009, according to the group’s website.

While one woman was appreciative for the help, she opened up about the fact that she didn’t have a decent bra to wear underneath her new outfit.

That’s what spurred the pair to switch gears, and focus on doling out bras and feminine hygiene products.

For Marlowe, the mission has become increasingly personal.

She has a family member who has experienced homelessness on and off, so she’s aware of the struggles people on the streets face and the fact that the hardship can “really happen to anyone.”

Marlowe noted that meeting some of the grateful women who received the bras helped put the entire issue, and experience, into perspective.

Even before she started unloading the goods, Marlowe said the two women knew exactly what they wanted. Marlowe knew in that moment that she was helping to make their lives “healthy and more comfortable.”

“Bras too [often] are considered superfluous items,” Marlowe added. “It’s strange how the attitude ‘if you don’t see it, it doesn’t need to exist’ pervades.”

Have a bra to donate? Find out how you can get involved with Support the Girls here and here.

10 Old-School Perfumes That Need To Make A Comeback

$

Most of us can remember the delight of being allowed to try on mom's pearls or dab on her red lipstick -- but that was nothing compared to being able to spritz on one of her perfumes.

Tastes have changed over the years, with clean, fresh, fruity scents making more of a splash these days. But there's just something about the heady, strong, sometimes downright overpowering fragrances of yore.

We asked our Facebook followers what old-school perfumes their mothers and grandmothers used to wear that they still fondly remember. Here are 10 iconic perfumes we wish we could get a whiff of more often:

1. Evening in Paris

According to Fragrantica, this scent was first introduced in the 1920s and was discontinued in the late 1960s.

Evening in Paris, or Soir de Paris, includes both fruity (bergamot, apricot and peach) and floral (rose and lily of the valley) notes, with a base consisting of amber, sandalwood, musk and vanilla.

2. Chanel No. 5

The decades-old perfume is as well-known as the woman who made it famous. Marilyn Monroe was once asked in a now-iconic interview, what she wore to bed. Her response? Chanel No. 5.

"My mother loved Chanel No. 5, it smells like Dial Gold Soap," our reader Cheryl Dunn said.

The scent contains notes of rose, jasmine, citrus and vanilla which -- according to Chanel -- give it an "incredibly sensual trail."

3. White Shoulders

This classic perfume was reportedly launched in the 1940s by Evyan, according to FragranceX.

It's a mostly floral scent, with notes of gardenia, lilac and jasmine, and also touches of amber and musk.

4. Chantilly

Chantilly was created in 1941 by perfume house Houbigant.

"We couldn't afford the fancier stuff," reader Mariann Cadmus said of the popular perfume. It's still sold by Dana Beauty today, indeed, at a more affordable price point.

The scent is supposed to have an air of "romance and mystery," according to Dana Beauty and contains exotic and spicy notes including rose damask, patchouli and jasmine.

5. Shalimar

Created by perfume house Guerlain in 1925, the first oriental fragrance was inspired by the Gardens of Shalimar, which the Indian emperor Shah Jahan built for his wife. The scent is still sold today by Guerlain.

The potent fragrance contains notes of bergamot, rose, jasmine and tonka bean.

6. Youth Dew

This Estée Lauder classic has been around since the '50s with Lauder herself saying "Women still like to feel beautiful, pampered and loved, And that is what Youth-Dew is all about." It now comes in two different bottles -- a more modern design and a version based on the original packaging.

It contains notes like patchouli, lavender and rose.

7. Charlie

The ultimate '70s fragrance, Charlie was formulated by Revlon in 1973. The cosmetics company created the scent to appeal to the "young, working woman" and it became the top-selling fragrance worldwide soon after it hit the market. By 1977, it had raked in over $1 billion in sales for Revlon.

The fragrance contains notes of hyacinth, gardenia, violet and musk and is still being sold today.

8. Arpège

This classic scent was reportedly created in 1927 by Jeanne Lanvin, to mark her daughter's 30th birthday.

It contains notes of neroli, ylang ylang, vanilla and sandalwood.

9. Tabu

Tabu has reportedly been around since the 1930s and is still made today by Dana Beauty.

It includes notes of oak moss, amber and lemon oil.

10. Opium

With a scandalous name, the fragrance reportedly caused a stir when it was launched in 1977. Some countries banned the scent, but the controversy only raised its profile and popularity. It's still a best-selling fragrance today and Yves Saint Laurent has even launched another version of it called Black Opium.

It has notes of mandarin, myrrh and amber.

Now You Can Finally Get Bernie Sanders-Themed Undies

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Employees of a Vermont company have launched a side business selling underwear featuring a black-and-white drawing of the face of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.

NECN (http://bit.ly/20el7Og ) reports that the underwear, which features the message "Feel the Bern," is available for men and women and costs $15 plus shipping and handling. The three workers with KSE Partners, a strategic communications and government affairs firm, say they created Bernie's Briefs as a fun side business.

The Vermont senator has said recently on late-night TV and talk shows that he prefers briefs over boxers.

The startup's founders called Sanders' passion for serious issues admirable. One founder says the political process has benefited from his campaign.

Ten percent of the proceeds will go toward the Yellow Ribbon Fund, which supports injured service members.

Dad Defends Son's Cruella Halloween Costume From 'Small-Minded' Bigots

Liam is a 9-year-old who takes Halloween very seriously.

The boy, who is a talented dancer with a passion for theater, loves creating his own costumes every year and helps his dads design them. After going as Black Swan and Cleopatra in years' past, Liam decided to dress as Cruella de Vil

“We encourage him to do what he wants. He’s a kid and Halloween is a great creative outlet," Will Hutt told the Gaily Grind.

Hutt received criticism after he posted a photo of Liam's costume on Facebook, with one commenter saying "how wrong it was to do this to a child," Hutt told The Huffington Post.

"My initial reaction was anger and led me to start writing something that  probably couldn't be repeated," he told HuffPost. "Half way through I deleted what I wrote and decided to take the high road."

Instead, he responded with tact, writing on Facebook: “We deal with this type of small-minded person on a daily basis. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I will always support and encourage my kids creativity happily and without apology."

Hutt said he doesn't ask for praise from other parents, only respect. “It’s very typical for people to assume that because he has two dads, that we somehow guided him in this direction. That is simply not the case ... I am not asking for applause or acceptance from other parents," Hutt told the Gaily Grind. "I fully understand many probably have an issue with this, but I am perplexed by other parents criticism."

Hutt, who lives in Florida, told HuffPost that he and his family have received an outpouring of support from around the world.

"My son has planned to be Cruella for months and I was not going to let someone steal his shine," he said. "Whether it's a Halloween costume, a lifestyle,  a color or race, we should embrace one another, learn from one another and remember not everyone will always see the world the same as we do. And that's OK, but don't be ugly to one another. Treat all people with respect and kindness."

Lesson One: What I Learned From Starting a Handbag Line

2015-11-03-1446564916-9631951-BlackLuxeTote.jpg

I'm starting a handbag line, Voi Rae. It's been a passion of mine for years to design handbags, and I decided to dive in feet first and design some bags with a graduate from Parsons School of Design, then have them manufactured. I couldn't decide on manufacturing in Italy or China. I decided to go with China.

2015-11-03-1446565333-9317693-VoiRaeLuxeTote.png

The bags arrived on-time and were very well done. However we had some problems deciding how I was going to pay for shipping. They didn't allow me to pay them for shipping, so I had to set up a UPS account, what a chore. From there I set up an account and paid for my sample.

2015-11-03-1446565372-4692908-VoiRaeColors.png

The first sample that I ordered was so well done that I bought a second one in another material (ostrich stamped leather). This was the beginning of my experimentation process. They gave me the MOQ, which was 100 bags per color and style, a lot for a start up and I sat on the idea for a couple of months.

After circling back to place a second order, the email address bounced back. How's that for a first run? The factory is closed. Now I have two really well done samples that are evidence of my first manufactured handbags, but no company to replicate them. Branding the company, enjoying wearing the bags, back to the drawing board, lessons learned.

Rebel Wilson Resents The Kardashians For Not Being 'Famous For Talent'

Rebel Wilson just slammed the Kardashians. Hard.

The "Pitch Perfect" actress visited Australian radio station KIIS FM on Wednesday morning to talk with hosts Kyle and Jackie O. Wilson is known for her blunt humor and candid delivery and, boy, did she deliver.

Wilson was reportedly asked to present an award at this year's MTV VMAs with the youngest members of the Kardashian clan, Kendall and Kylie, but flat-out refused to share the stage with them.

"I said, ‘No, I’d rather do it by myself,'" she told the radio hosts.

She went on to explain why she holds a grudge against the famous family's popularity and resents their current cultural dominance.

“It’s not that I hate any of them individually, but it’s just that everything they stand for is against everything I stand for," Wilson said. "And they’re not famous for talent. I worked really hard to get where I’ve gotten to.”

She even brought up the Kardashian sex tape that started it all.

"They aren’t really about talent," she continued. “I mean, how Kim Kardashian got famous from the sex tape, and I just went to acting school and worked really hard.” Clearly, she hasn't seen Kim's dramatic tour de force performance in "Disaster Movie."

Wilson might want to sleep with a contouring brush and lip fillers under her pillow at night, cause the Kardashians don't play.

CORRECTION:An earlier version of this post misidentified Rebel Wilson as the host of the 2015 VMAs.

This Dude Proposed With An Engagement Ring Made Out Of His Wisdom Tooth

Alternatives to diamond engagement rings are becoming more and more popular, but this is one we haven't seen before.

On Halloween, Lucas Mancoon-Unger surprised his bride-to-be, Carlee Leifkes, with a ring made out of his wisdom tooth.

Even though couple had already talked about marriage and decided on using one of Unger’s wisdom teeth — which he had pulled when he was 17 — for the ring, Leifkes told The Huffington Post that she had no idea that a down-on-one-knee proposal was coming.

“We had agreed on getting married and I thought it ended at that. But he had other plans,” she said in an email.

 So, why a tooth?

“Nobody will have this ring because it’s a piece of him … no two people are the same — same goes for our ring!” she said.

Their friends and family thought it was the perfect choice.

“When they heard, the first thing they'd say is ‘Of course, that's so YOU!’ My close friend who heard, her first reaction was, ‘You definitely found your other half, he just gets you!’”

Leifkes, who is from Orange County, California, met Unger at a music festival in his home city of Vancouver.

“He was so fun and didn't care what anyone thought,” she said. “The rest of the day at the music festival was spent dancing, holding hands, and eating grilled cheeses. We haven't stopped dancing since!”

He ultimately moved from Canada to be with her, she told BuzzFeed.

The couple, who have a Las Vegas wedding planned for November, say that with all the attention surrounding the ring, the person who deserves the real credit is George Bashoura of Bridewell Jewelry, who created the piece.

And though Leifkes’ ring is getting all the hype, Unger has a pretty rad ring of his own — a silver ring with an engraved image of a tooth and a quote from a song that played at the music festival where they met. That ring was the work of Michael Flavin of the UK-based Tattoollery.

“I surprised him with this ring and he promised to never take it off,” Leifkes said.
