Here's A Toad Wearing A Top Hat, Because What Else Do You Have Going On?

Chris Newsome, a 43-year-old from Alabama, knows how to make an amphibian feel fancy.

This past summer, a toad took up residence in Newsome’s flowerbed and would visit his porch every night.

Not only did Newsome decide to give his guest a proper name — Mr. Toad — he also decided to start making hats for the little critter in the hopes of making another small fry happy.

“I made hats to cheer up a friend’s son after his pet toad died,” Newsome told The Huffington Post. “He asked if my porch toad was still around, so I put some pictures of the toad with hats on Facebook to make him laugh.”

Newsome fashioned the hats out of foam paper, which he said seemed like “toad-friendly material.”

They’re also pretty small — perfect for a toad, but quite silly-looking on Newsome’s dog, Daisy, who is wearing the hat below for scale:

Newsome also told HuffPost that it seemed Mr. Toad wasn’t bothered by modeling the hats, either.

“Even after many hats and pictures, he still returned,” Newsome said. “Either he liked the hats or he couldn’t be fazed.”

Recently, Newsome decided to post the pictures of Mr. Toad working it in his fab hats on Reddit and the pictures soon went viral, receiving more than 1.1 million views.

“Hopefully, it or another toad will visit once the weather warms up,” Newsome said.

Here’s hopping that happens!

Video Captures Prince William Busting A Move On The Dance Floor

Prince William knows how to get down on the dance floor.

The 34-year-old royal was caught raising in the roof to “I Got 5 On It” in a Swiss nightclub over the weekend. Wearing a long-sleeved button-down and jeans, Prince William clearly enjoyed dancing to the classic ‘90s hit by the hip-hop duo Luniz.

We feel like we’ve seen these moves before:

The dancing royal was in Verbier, Switzerland for a ski trip with his friends. Prince William is facing backlash for going on the trip and skipping an appearance at Westminster Abbey during Commonwealth Day in the U.K. For what it’s worth, the Duchess of Cambridge also skipped the appearance, though she was not on the ski trip with William.

We’ll see what the queen has to say about all this.

Chrissy Teigen And Baby Luna Wear The Cutest Matching Overalls

There are a number of discouraging things going on in the world right now. We’d like to take a break from all that for something that’s less pressing, but still heaps and bounds cuter than anything else you’ll see in the news today.

Yes, it’s Chrissy Teigen and baby Luna wearing matching overalls.

Teigen threw a “petting zoo slash crab boil dinner party” Monday. It appeared to have been planned for Luna, but upon further investigation looks more like it was thrown together for Teigen herself.

Dreams come true

This family horsing around with a bunch of animals is overwhelmingly cute on its own. Factor in the coordinating white shirts and overalls, captured above on makeup artist Mary Phillips’ Instagram, and it’s almost too much to handle.

John Legend also shared a cute shot of Teigen and Luna that he captioned “Petting zoo party,” but we would have captioned “Holy moly this is adorable.”

”Mommy and me” outfits are always sweet, but there is something just so utterly delightful about matching overalls. Thank you for this, Chrissy Teigen.

This Woman Turns Her Vitiligo Into Stunning Body Art

Our newest self-love hero serves as proof that our bodies truly are works of art.

Ash Soto has vitiligo, a skin condition that causes a loss of pigmentation in patches. She regularly traces her skin and paints her body to create brilliant body art.

Her first project, which she referred to on Instagram as “The Marker Chronicles,” magically transformed her skin into what looks like a map of the world.

Soto started sharing photos of her body back in May 2016. At the time, she explained in a caption that she did it to help inspire “all girls to be comfortable with themselves and their bodies because everyone is beautiful and unique,” adding that she is “finally at a point in my life where I can say I love the skin I’m in.”

“It’s a learning experience each day,” she wrote, “but I’m getting there.”

Since then, she has regularly shared images of herself with marker lines, in body paint or unadorned alongside words of encouragement, inspiration and self-love.

She preaches the importance of being proud of your own skin, and reminds followers that “falling in love with yourself doesn’t make you vain or selfish at all, it makes you indestructible and strong.”

Soto’s message of acceptance clearly resonates with her over 81,000 Instagram followers, who regularly thank her for sharing her images and post their own stories in the comments.

We don’t know if we’re more impressed with her confidence or her artistic ability, but we’re more than inspired by both.

These Two Body-Positive Models Want To Change How We View Ourselves

When it comes to hateful speech and negativity, these two best friends don’t get mad. They get body positive.

Georgia Gibbs and Kate Wasley are a pair of Australia-based models who are size six and 16, respectively. After a photo of the two together garnered hateful reactions about their bodies, they decided to take matters into their own hands and created a rad social media initiative called Any Body.

The project launched on International Women’s Day with the mission to help women quit comparisons, love themselves and accept they are more than their shape, Gibbs wrote on Instagram.

“Whether you’re a size 6 or 16, above, below or in between, we believe you are unique and uniqueness is so beautiful in a world of so much similarity,” she said.

In the week since the first image was posted to the account, photos of the pair posing together in swimwear have racked up thousands of likes and encouraging comments. It’s movements like these, that feature women of different shapes and sizes co-existing in their uniqueness, that are crucial in moving inclusivity in fashion forward.

A post shared by Any Body (@any.body_co) on

Gibbs and Wasley hope that their confidence and self-love will encourage others to follow suit.

“We’re here to show beauty in diversity, health in different forms,” Wasley captioned one of her photos. “We want you to embrace you.”

We can’t wait to see what’s next from these two.

No One Can Object That Ruth Bader Ginsburg's Collars Are On Point

Ruth Bader Ginsburg is an all-knowing beacon of knowledge, level-headedness and yes, even fashion expertise.

She has long been known for the lace collars or jabots (a fancy collar) she pairs with her robe. Since taking her oath of office in 1993, they have at times been long, short, lacy, sparkly and even blue.

The collars make more than just a fashion statement. Take her dissent collar, for example, which is worn to show disagreement and, according to NBC News, “stray from the majority opinion on decisions before the high court”. Many took notice when she wore that very collar one day after Donald Trump, with whom she does not exactly have the best relationship, won the election, even though there were no decisions to be made that day.

Duly noted, RBG.

In honor of the iconic justice’s 84th birthday on March 15, we invite you to take a look back at some of her most collar-fully fantastic moments.

What This Mom Wanted To Teach Her Son By Shaving Her Head

Virginia Mellen’s method of teaching her son an important life lesson is a bit unconventional, but also empowering.

On Sunday, Mellen posted in the Facebook group Pantsuit Nation about how she first shaved her head in high school and then a few times in college. The look made her feel “comfortable, confident, and attractive.” Yet when the desire to shave her head crept up recently, the 27-year-old mom at first hesitated. Questions like, “Is this OK to do now that I’m a mom?” and “What will people think now that I’m older?” floated through her head. But then she thought about her 15-month-old son, Avi.

“I want my son to grow up with a mom who doesn’t make decisions about her appearance based on what other people think,” she wrote. “I want him to know that there is no particular way a mom or a woman is ‘supposed’ to look.”

Despite any hesitations, Mellen had her head shaved on March 11 and posted about the experience in the Pantsuit Nation group. She told The Huffington Post her son is too young to comment on her look, but he does enjoy feeling her hair with his hands and rubbing his cheeks on it.

“I think he enjoys the velvety feel of the short hair,” Mellen said.

Many other parents are into Mellen’s look, too. She told HuffPost that since she shared her post, which has gotten more than 47,000 reactions as of Wednesday, she has received photos from moms showing off their shaved heads and dyed hair.

“I love seeing everyone celebrate their individuality,” she said. “I have been surprised at the number of women who have said they wish they could shave their heads but they are ‘too old’ or ‘don’t have the face for it.’ But I urge them to go for it!”

When asked whether she had advice for other moms who might avoid doing something they want to do simply because they are mothers, Mellen suggested they “take a step back.”

“Ask if you have doubts because of what other people may think,” she said. “I am still a fairly new mom, but the most important knowledge I have gained so far is that there is no right way to be a mom. There is such enormous pressure on mothers to be a certain way, but I think even young kids can benefit from seeing our individuality.”

Prince Harry Really Knows How To Rock A Casual Look

Like a fine wine, it appears Prince Harry just keeps getting better (and better dressed) with age.

Harry attended a mental health conference in London Thursday dressed sharply in a gray jacket, white button-front shirt and blue pants. It’s not necessarily a bold or fresh new look, but he definitely wears it well.

Just look at the fit on this thing.

Harry met with former armed services members and one particularly adorable assistance dog, who made us realize for the first time ever that Harry is basically a human golden retriever: handsome, eager and slightly red-headed.

We’re not implying that girlfriend Meghan Markle dressed him for the occasion, but she does star on a show called “Suits.” Just saying.

Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo Are Competing Over Their Baby's First Word

Adam Levine is taking fatherhood very seriously.

Appearing on “The Tonight Show” on Tuesday, he told host Jimmy Fallon that he and his wife, Behati Prinsloo, are in a little competition over their daughter’s first word.

The couple welcomed Dusty Rose Levine in September, and ever since then, it’s been a battle for the baby’s affection ... or at least her vocabulary. The Maroon 5 frontman said he’s hoping his daughter will say “dada” before “mama.”

“I’ve been working ‘dada’ hard,” Levine explained. “You work on it really hard and you slip it into every single thing you say. If she’s being cute, you’re like, ‘Oh, my God! Look at how cute you are! Dada!’”

Meanwhile, Prinsloo is not holding back either. “My wife is working ‘mama,’ so it’s like, it’s a battle to the finish,” the dad said.

Levine’s endeavor surely has support from Fallon, who famously wrote Your Baby’s First Word Will Be DADA.

During the interview, the singer also opened up about how much he’s loving being a father to Dusty Rose. Parenthood is “so fun,” he said, adding, “I do new stuff all the time. It’s constantly entertaining, the greatest thing in the world.”

We’ll check back with Adam when Dusty Rose hits the terrible twos ...

It's Hard To Pick Faves From Victoria Beckham's Target Collection, But We Did It

Stop right now, thank you very much, and look at Victoria Beckham’s highly anticipated and unbelievably cute collection for Target.

We’ve been waiting what feels like viva forever to see the entire collaboration, and as expected, the fashion designer delivered. The retro collection features a range of prints, matching sets, one perfect fuchsia outfit and a collection for toddlers that’s better than many adult lines.

Best of all? The collection, which prices most items under $40, runs from size XS to 3X, all of which will be available in-store and online. Looks like Target learned a lesson when it angered shoppers by not selling larger sizes of its Lilly Pulitzer collaboration in stores.

According to a press release, the line is “inspired by the Victoria, Victoria Beckham line, as well as Beckham’s everyday life and the shared experiences between mother and child.”

We hope to be sharing the experience of owning every piece in this collection as soon as it hits stores April 9. Take a look at some of our favorites items below.

5 Things You Need To Know About Queen Selena Gomez From Her Vogue Interview

$

Somehow, Selena Gomez hasn’t appeared on the cover of American Vogue, so instead of putting Blake Lively on there for the 19th time, Anna Wintour and company decided to finally give the pop star her moment in the sun.

That’s right: The magazine’s April issue is all about Gomez, all the time. In addition to the stunning photo spread shot by celebrity photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, the singer opens up in a candid interview about her struggles over the past year and her return to the spotlight.

Since taking a career break in late August, Gomez had largely withdrawn from the public eye. After a comeback appearance at the American Music Awards, she’s officially back, more honest than ever and ready to spill some tea about her own life in hopes that others can learn from her experiences.

Check out the top five most surprising things we learned from her Vogue interview below.

1. She goes to therapy five days a week.

After a 90-day rehab stay and a break from the spotlight to deal with mental health issues, Gomez reveals that she gravitated toward therapy during her recovery.

The “Heart Wants What It Wants” singer is a big proponent of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, a technique that teaches patients how to “accept” uncomfortable thoughts in order to make it easier to change them. In the interview, the former Disney star reveals she now goes five times a week and encourages others to speak out about its benefits.

“DBT has completely changed my life. I wish more people would talk about therapy,” she said. “We girls, we’re taught to be almost too resilient, to be strong and sexy and cool and laid-back; the girl who’s down ... We also need to feel allowed to fall apart.”

2. Only 17 people have her phone number.

Don’t expect to be getting a call from Selena anytime soon, squad members — Gomez is taking the less-is-more approach when it comes to technology these days.

She’s already been vocal about her distaste for social media — despite being the most popular celebrity on Instagram — but did you know that she barely uses her phone? Instead, Gomez prefers to go on long drives with girlfriends, who apparently include “a realtor, a techie, some folks from church.”

“I think 17 people have my phone number right now,” she said. “Maybe two are famous.”

3. She can still shade the hell out of Justin Bieber.

During the interview, Selena is approached by young fans asking for autographs and photos. Of course, she obliges, but not before slipping in some primo Bieber shade. Remember, Gomez’s ex, Justin Bieber, is famously very bothered when fans approach him in real life.

“Somebody I used to hang out with would always get very frustrated with me,” she said. “But I have a hard time saying no to children.”

4. Panic attacks became a regular thing on her Revival tour.

Gomez has been open about struggling to perform on her Revival tour, even posting a message on Instagram after a concert about feeling “unauthentic.” She went on to cancel the rest of the tour dates before seeking treatment in rehab, but we never knew what Gomez faced every night onstage until now.

“Tours are a really lonely place for me,” Gomez explained. “My self-esteem was shot. I was depressed, anxious. I started to have panic attacks right before getting onstage, or right after leaving the stage. Basically I felt I wasn’t good enough, wasn’t capable. I felt I wasn’t giving my fans anything, and they could see it — which, I think, was a complete distortion.

5. Her biggest wish is for people to forget about her.

She may be on the cover of Vogue, but Gomez still craves anonymity after living most of her life in the public eye. If she had her wish, one day we’d all forget about her and move on to the next big thing.

“Look, I love what I do, and I’m aware of how lucky I am, but — how can I say this without sounding weird?” she said. “I just really can’t wait for people to forget about me.”

Tired Of 'Pink And Princess' Shirts, 5-Year-Old Writes A Letter To The Gap

Five-year-old Alice Jacob loves race cars, superheroes and science, and like many kids, she wants her clothing to reflect that. That’s why she wrote a letter to The Gap Inc. asking for “cool girls’ shirts.”

Alice’s mom, Beth Jacob, wrote for The Washington Post about how she has a difficult time finding clothes that her daughter wants to wear in the so-called “girls’ section” of stores. While Beth was doing some early spring shopping for her kids, she picked out some shirts online from the Gap for her son. Alice saw her mom’s selections and realized that the girls’ category has vastly different options.

“She said it wasn’t fair that all her favorite stuff was only in the boys’ section, and when we looked in the girls’ section, the options were totally different,” Beth told The Huffington Post. “No ‘Star Wars,’ no superheroes, no race cars, wild animals or danger. Alice loves that stuff, and she’s a girl. She doesn’t get why the things she’s into have to be labeled for boys, when the things labeled for girls are nothing like her.”

This prompted Alice to send a letter to the Gap. She dictated it while her mother typed. In it, she explained that she is almost 5-and-a-half years old and that she likes “Superman and Batman shirts and race car shirts, too.” But she can only find those kinds of shirts in the boys’ section.

“All your girl shirts are pink and princesses and stuff like that,” the letter reads. “The boys’ shirts are really cool. They have Superman, Batman, rock-and-roll and sports. What about girls who like those things like me, and my friend Olivia?”

Then, Alice made two important suggestions:

“Can you make some cool girls’ shirts please? Or, can you make a no boys’ or girls’ section — only a kids’ section?”

Beth stressed to The Huffington Post that Alice doesn’t care about a specific brand over another. She simply wants clothes that “are comfortable and let her run” and also reflect what she likes. She loves bright colors like red, blue and orange and wants pictures of things “she thinks are cool” on her clothes.

“Every parent has a story of their kid’s obsession with something ― dinosaurs, trucks, sea animals, rock ‘n’ roll, Batman,” Beth told HuffPost. “These passions aren’t divided by gender ― why do their clothes have to be?”

Alice sent the Gap two copies of her letter: one to corporate and one to its foundation. Each letter included a personalized drawing from Alice and her signature. Beth told HuffPost she heard from the Gap that the company has not received the hard copy of Alice’s letter yet, but she has not otherwise spoken with anyone from the company yet.

In August, the Gap came under fire for a promotional email it sent to customers in the United Kingdom. The email included a photo of a boy wearing a shirt with Albert Einstein’s face (and misspelled name) on it and a girl wearing a logo sweater. The ad labeled the boy as a “little scholar” and the girl as a “social butterfly.” Many parents spoke out and tweeted their disappointment with the ad.

Beth is proud of her daughter for speaking out about gender stereotypes. Their family loves superheroes, and Beth has taken this opportunity to show her kids to “be brave enough not to be like everyone else.”

“As a mom, I want both my kids to be unafraid of liking what they like, being who they are and speaking up when things are unfair,” she said. “I’d say Alice wanting to send that letter accomplishes all three.”

The Huffington Post has reached out to the Gap for comment and will update this post accordingly.

Hairstylist’s Touching Photos Capture The Raw Reality Of Depression

One hairstylist proved to be a cut above when she helped a client experiencing a mental health condition.

In February, a woman walked into The Salon, a haircut location inside of Ulta Beauty in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and began pulling every “All Soft” product by Redken off the shelf. Kate Langman, an employee the salon, noticed what the customer was doing and approached her to see if she needed any help.

The two began to talk, and Langman soon learned that the woman had depression. She hadn’t left her bed in six months due to her mental health condition, she told Langman, and had neglected to wash or brush her hair.

Instead, the woman had pulled her hair back into a bun, which over time became a giant, matted knot.

Langman offered to do the woman’s hair, making her an appointment for the very next day.

“I have a very close family member that went through similar [mental health struggles],” Langman told The Huffington Post. “If I would have let her walk away with all of those products that she spent a hundreds of dollars on, she would have gotten nowhere — which she would have possibly viewed as another failure for her.”

But the woman didn’t show up for the appointment. Two weeks later, she called and booked another appointment. And once again, she was a no-show.

“It actually, kind of, broke my heart,” Langman wrote on Facebook.

Then, on March 9, the woman came into the salon and asked Langman if she could do her hair.

“When she walked in that [day], I had a feeling of relief,” Langman told HuffPost. “That she still had the drive to feel like herself again.”

Langman worked with the woman for over eight hours, brushing, cutting and coloring her hair. The results were phenomenal.

After the experience, Langman posted the story to Facebook, where it went viral, receiving over 16,000 shares and 35,000 likes.

“By the end of this service, I could see the sparkle in her eyes,” Langman wrote in her post.

The anonymous client’s symptoms aren’t uncommon for the more than 300 million people worldwide who experience depression. The disorder can deplete a person’s energy and motivation, making simple routines like fixing your hair feel like an excruciating task.

Langman says she’s happy that she could be there for the woman, who confirmed the story to The Huffington Post.

“I wanted her to know that there is someone that is here to help her,” Langman said. “No matter the circumstances. She needed someone she could count on and I wanted to be that person for her.”

Jane Fonda Is Selling Merchandise With Her 1970 Mugshot On It

Dreams really do come true: Jane Fonda sells merchandise with her 1970 mugshot on it.

Alongside her famous workout videos and some of her films, fans can buy mugs, shirts and even a clutch with Fonda’s mugshot on it on the actress’ website. (Though the clutch is currently out of stock.)

In the epic 1970 mugshot, Fonda sports a stylish retro haircut and is holding her fist up in what looks to be a sign of resistance.

According to a 2009 essay from Fonda, the actress was on a speaking tour for an anti-Vietnam War campaign in 1970. She flew into Cleveland, OH from a speaking engagement in Canada when airport security searched her luggage and found multiple bags of vitamins that they thought were drugs. She was arrested for drug smuggling, but after the vitamins were tested she was released and the charges were dropped.

“I told them what [the vitamins] were but they said they were getting orders from the White House ― that would be the Nixon White House,” she wrote. “I think they hoped this ‘scandal’ would cause the college speeches to be canceled and ruin my respectability.”

The 79-year-old actress is well known for her political activism, spanning back to the 1960s and 70s where she protested for civil rights, women’s rights and against the Vietnam War. Today, the icon still speaks up for what she believes in ― she’s involved in #NoDAPL and attended the Women’s March in January.

All the proceeds from Fonda’s mugshot merch goes to the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential, an educational organization helping young people get more accurate sex-ed.

Take a look at some of the awesome swag below.

While the coveted clutch is already sold out, everything else is still in stock. Head here to get some awesome Jane Fonda mugshot merch.

Fashion Week's Hottest New Models Were Older Women

$

True style is timeless ― and apparently ageless, too.

There were over four times as many models over age 50 in the Fall 2017 fashion shows as there were employed for Spring 2016, according to theFashionSpot’s newest diversity report. The site tracked statistics of size, race, age and gender for 7,035 models cast in 241 shows over this past fashion month, which ended last week in Paris.

New York Fashion Week led the charge as most diverse overall, but each city contributed a little bit to making the runways more age-friendly this season. According to the report, “21 models over age 50 walked the runways of New York, Paris, London and Milan.”

While this might sound like a small number, it’s significant when compared to previous seasons: It’s a whopping 160 percent increase over Spring 2016, when only five were hired. Eleven models over 50 walked in Fall 2016, according to theFashionSpot, and 13 were employed for Spring 2017.

Women in their 50s, 60s and onward turned up more this fashion month than during any season in recent memory,” the report authors wrote.

In Europe, age inclusivity is happening faster than other factors like size. Only two plus-size models walked in Paris and two in Milan, compared to 26 in New York.

Still, the report called fall 2017 a “banner season” for diversity, signaling that just like the models featured, fashion month just keeps getting better with age.

Lena Dunham Refuses To Be Your Before-And-After Weight Loss Model

For future reference, let’s just keep our thoughts about Lena Dunham’s body to ourselves, OK?

The “Girls” actress, who’s championed body positivity in Hollywood for years, took to Instagram on Thursday to respond to online speculation about her apparent weight loss after stepping out at the opening of trainer Tracy Anderson’s studio.

“I feel I’ve made it pretty clear over the years that I don’t give even the tiniest of shits what anyone else feels about my body,” Dunham captioned a screenshot of a Refinery 29 article urging readers to stop talking about her weight. “I’ve gone on red carpets in couture as a size 14. I’ve done sex scenes days after surgery, mottled with scars. I’ve accepted that my body is an ever changing organism, not a fixed entity — what goes up must come down and vice versa. I smile just as wide no matter my current size because I’m proud of what this body has seen and done and represented.”

In Dunham’s own words, her battle with endometriosis initially led her to seek Anderson’s help on how to feel stronger in her own body, as she struggles with chronic and often debilitating pain. Last year, the 30-year-old canceled press appearances ahead of the “Girls” season premiere to rest after a particularly “rough patch” with the illness.  According to Dunham, exercise has alleviated some pain and allowed her to control the endometriosis and anxiety.

After her appearance at the fitness event, troubling reports described Dunham looking “happy and healthy” next to side-by-side photos of the actress. A Daily Mail headline even proclaimed Dunham to be “half the girl she used to be.”

“My weight loss isn’t a triumph and it also isn’t some sign I’ve finally given in to the voices of trolls. Because my body belongs to ME ― at every phase, in every iteration, and whatever I’m doing with it, I’m not handing in my feminist card to anyone,” she continued. “I refuse to celebrate these bullshit before-and-after pictures. Don’t we have infinitely more pressing news to attend to?”

Thank you for this @Refinery29. I feel I've made it pretty clear over the years that I don't give even the tiniest of shits what anyone else feels about my body. I've gone on red carpets in couture as a size 14. I've done sex scenes days after surgery, mottled with scars. I've accepted that my body is an ever changing organism, not a fixed entity- what goes up must come down and vice versa. I smile just as wide no matter my current size because I'm proud of what this body has seen and done and represented. Chronic illness sufferer. Body-shaming vigilante. Sexual assault survivor. Raging hottie. Just like all of YOU. Right now I'm struggling to control my endometriosis through a healthy diet and exercise. So my weight loss isn't a triumph and it also isn't some sign I've finally given in to the voices of trolls. Because my body belongs to ME--at every phase, in every iteration, and whatever I'm doing with it, I'm not handing in my feminist card to anyone. So thank you to my girl @ashleygraham for writing so gorgeously about this on @lennyletter (link in bio). Thank you to @tracyandersonmethod for teaching me that exercise has the power to counteract my pain and anxiety, and to @jennikonner for being my partner in FUCK IT. I refuse to celebrate these bullshit before-and-after pictures. Don't we have infinitely more pressing news to attend to? So much love to all my web friends who demand that life be more than a daily weigh in, who know their merit has nothing to do with their size, who fight to be seen and heard and accepted. I love you- Lena

Combing her hair is the main event of Alia Nasroya’s day.

Or should we say “mane” event?

The 27-year-old resident of Riga, Latvia, has 90-inch-long locks. As such, she spends a hair-raising amount of time doing her ‘do: One full hour of combing and a whole day to air dry on the days she washes her tresses, according to Barcroft TV.

Oh, and she carries 22 pounds of shampoo, conditioners, and combs when she travels.

Nasroya has spent the last 20 years trying to get her hair to be as long as her favorite fairy tale character, Rapunzel.

Nasroya’s husband, Ivan Balaban, is proud of her long locks, but does what he can to stay out of her hair ― literally.

“I am always cuddling up the wall to give more space for hair, so there is no way I can damage it accidentally, mix them up or harm it any other way,” he told Barcroft. TV.

“I always talk to the braid respectfully. Sometimes I ask it to move a bit.”

Although Nasroya is able to make a living modeling, she admits she’s had some pretty hairy experiences.

“Once in my childhood when I was in theatre someone left gum in my hair, it was a tragedy,” she told Barcroft. “I had to cut out a clump of hair to get rid of this gum, because it was very difficult.”

5 Things That Will Happen When The Queen Dies

Queen Elizabeth II is the United Kingdom’s longest reigning monarch, which, among other things, means there’s long been talk of the massive, “disruptive” impact her death will have both on her own nation and the world. A new report by The Guardian brings the subject up again, going into great detail about the intricate ins and outs of what will happen when that day comes. It’s pretty fascinating.

There are the obvious things that will change, like the face of British currency and the national anthem switching back to “God Save the King.” But the palace plan for handling her death and succession ― reportedly called “London Bridge” or “the Bridge” ― includes plenty of less obvious, equally interesting things might happen in the moments, days and years after her death.

Here are five of them.

1. The first people to know will speak in code.

The queen’s private secretary, Sir Christopher Geidt, will be the first to be informed of her death, followed by the prime minister, according to The Guardian. When it happens, “civil servants will say ‘London Bridge is down’ on secure lines.”

2. Reporters will be sartorially prepared.

Previous reports suggested the news might be held until 8 a.m. if the queen dies overnight, but the Guardian now says it will be reported immediately. Either way, it will be delivered by reporters who are appropriately dressed in somber clothes.

“Every senior BBC presenter has to have a dark suit and black tie on standby in which to announce the death of a senior member of the royal family,” according to the Daily Beast’s Tom Sykes. Vice notes this is due to the fallout when, in 2002, Peter Sissons had on a red tie as he announced the Queen Mother’s death.

3. The palace website will go dark.

News of Queen Elizabeth II’s death will be blasted out to the Press Association. That same text will appear on the palace website, which The Guardian said will be “transformed into a sombre, single page.”

4. You will be able to visit her coffin.

In the days after her death and leading up to her funeral, the queen will lie in state for the public to come visit. Business Insider reports that her coffin will sit in Westminster Hall, where “there will be a short ceremony to mark the coffin’s arrival, after which the public will be able to file past and pay their respects.”

More than 200,000 people filed past the Queen Mother’s coffin, a number Business Insider says the queen will “easily eclipse.”

5. Her dogs may be invited to the funeral.

Queen Elizabeth II’s love of corgis knows no bounds, so it only makes sense they might be invited to help celebrate her life. The Guardian reports that just as “the mourners for Edward VII were led by his fox terrier, Caesar,” the queen’s corgis might attend her funeral.

For now, though, we’ll continue to wish her good health and celebrate her long life, which has no doubt had an impact on millions of people around the world. Read the entire new report at The Guardian.
