Plus-Size Model Tess Holliday Vows To Boycott Uber After Being Fat-Shamed

Tess Holliday has put an Uber driver on blast via social media for allegedly questioning if she was healthy because of her size.

The 31-year-old model and fat positive activist posted an Instagram video on Tuesday evening of her driver asking her what her “cholesterol” is.

According to Holliday, the driver told her there was no way she could possibly be healthy because she is fat.

Specifically calling out Uber in the caption of her post, Holliday wrote: “No one should have to tolerate this at any level of the services you offer. I’m fat. I also have a fat wallet & will no longer be using your services. Ever.”

Holliday has been a vocal critic of fat-shaming over the years. In 2015, she created the popular hashtag #EffYourBeautyStandards in order to celebrate bodies of all shapes and sizes.

Charlize Theron Shot Back At Idea That 'Girlboss' Cast Had 'Too Many Girls'

Upcoming Netflix show “Girlboss” is based on Nasty Gal founder and Girlboss author Sophia Amoruso’s real-life story. And because there are a whole lot of women in her life, the cast of the show also is female-heavy.

Seems like a given, right? Well, according to Charlize Theron, who is an executive producer on the series, not everyone took so kindly to the lady-dominated casting.

“On person said to us, ‘There’s too many girls in this,’” Theron told E! News on the red carpet for the “Girlboss” premiere.

Her response was simple: “I was like, ‘And, your problem is...’”

Theron continued, saying that she’s relieved to finally be at a place in her life and career where she can say “no” if a project doesn’t feel right.

“[This show] had to be authentic,” she told E! News, “and so if we couldn’t do that, I didn’t want to do it. And it was nice to have a bunch of girls around me that supported that and we stood strong, and today we have the show that we really wanted to make.”

There's A Japanese Word For People Who Buy More Books Than They Can Actually Read

$

Book hoarding is a well-documented habit.

In fact, most literary types are pretty proud of the practice, steadfast in their desire to stuff shelves to maximum capacity. They’re not looking to stop hoarding, because parting with pieces of carefully curated piles is hard and stopping yourself from buying the next Strand staff pick is even harder. So, sorry Marie Kondo, but the books are staying.

The desire to buy more books than you can physically read in one human lifetime is actually so universal, there’s a specific word for it: tsundoku. Defined as the stockpiling of books that will never be consumed, the term is a Japanese portmanteau of sorts, combining the words “tsunde” (meaning “to stack things”) and “oku” (meaning “to leave for a while”).

We were reminded of the term this week, when Apartment Therapy published a primer for those looking to complete book-hoarder rehab. Several blogs have written on the topic before, though, surfacing new and interesting details about the word so perfect for book nerds everywhere.

While most who’ve written on the topic of tsundoku use the word to describe the condition of book hoarding itself, The LA Times used the term as a noun that describes the person suffering from book stockpiling syndrome, or “a person who buys books and doesn’t read them, and then lets them pile up on the floor, on shelves, and assorted pieces of furniture.”

Tsundoku has no direct synonym in English, Oxford Dictionaries clarified in a blog post, defining the word as “the act of leaving a book unread after buying it, typically piling it up together with other such unread books.” An informative subreddit provides even more context, explaining that “the tsundoku scale” ranges from just one unread book to a serious hoard. “Everyone is most likely to be ‘tsundokursed’ one way or the other,” it warns.

According to Quartz, tsundoku has quite a history. It originated as a play on words in the late 19th century, during what is considered the Meiji Era in Japan. At first, the “oku” in “tsunde oku” morphed into “doku,” meaning “to read,” but since “tsunde doku” is a bit of a mouthful, the phrase eventually condensed into “tsundoku.” And a word for reading addicts was born.

Speaking of addictions ― the term “bibliomania” emerged in England around the same time as “tsundoku.” Thomas Frognall Dibdin, an English cleric and bibliographer, wrote Bibliomania, or Book Madness: A Bibliographical Romance in the 1800s, outlining a fictional “neurosis” that prompted those suffering from it to obsessively collect books of all sorts.

Bibliomania has a dark past, documented more as a pseudo-illness that inspired real fear than a harmless knack for acquiring books we won’t have time to read. “Some collectors spent their entire fortunes to build their personal libraries,” Lauren Young wrote for Atlas Obscura. “While it was never medically classified, people in the 1800s truly feared bibliomania.”

Tsundoku seems to better capture the lighter side of compulsive book shopping, a word that evokes images of precariously stacked tomes one good breeze away from toppling over. While there’s no English equivalent quite as beautiful, no one’s stopping you from incorporating the Japanese word into your regular vocabulary.

“As with other Japanese words like karaoke, tsunami, and otaku, I think it’s high time that tsundoku enter the English language,” Open Culture wrote in 2014. “Now if only we can figure out a word to describe unread ebooks that languish on your Kindle. E-tsundoku? Tsunkindle?”

How To Tell Your Partner You Have An STD

$

0

When Sarit Luban, a 27-year-old writer from Boston starts dating someone new, there’s a conversation she has to have first.

Luban, who has genital herpes, says she has a couple of different approaches to disclosing her sexually transmitted infection. Sometimes she introduces herpes casually, as one of many facts about herself. Other times, she opens up the conversation by talking about STIs generally, and asking about the last time her partner was tested.

“I don’t apologize, and I don’t go into how I got it,” she says. “It can be as simple as, ‘Hey, I want to have sex with you. If you’re into that, I want you to know first that I have genital herpes.’ I like to give people space to ask questions, and I frame it as a discussion that we can have together.”

Luban has had some time to come to terms with this aspect of her dating life, but it hasn’t always been this easy. We don’t have models for how to have this conversation, she noted, and since it’s so taboo most people are overwhelmed by panic after a diagnosis.

“So many people, myself included, are diagnosed and terrified not necessarily because [having an STI] is so bad, but because it’s like entering this big unknown,” she said.

No matter how a sexually transmitted infection diagnosis comes up, it will probably bring with it a few uncomfortable emotions. But if you’re in a relationship — committed, casual or otherwise — the knowledge that you must now share your diagnosis with your partner is likely weighing heavily on your mind.

Don’t beat yourself up over these feelings — you’re not alone. After all, nearly half of American adults will contract an STI in their lifetimes.

Telling your partner you’ve been diagnosed may seem terrifying, but sharing the news honestly, directly and clearly will start the conversation off on the right foot.

Dr. Alyssa Dweck, a gynecologist in New York and author of the forthcoming book The Complete A to Z for your V, recommends getting straight to the point and giving your partner all the information they need to process the news.

Get right to the point

“We recommend a direct conversation with your partner,” she says. “Just let them know, ‘I’ve been diagnosed with this infection, I’m getting treated. You need to be treated [and tested] as well.’”

Depending on what state you live in, she added, your gynecologist may be able to expedite your partner’s treatment.

Dr. Tammy Nelson, a sex and relationship expert and author of The New Monogamy, agrees.

“Use simple language they can understand,” she says. “If you know how this happened, tell them. If you are as surprised as they are, be open about that. Tell them, ‘I thought something was strange, but honestly, I figured it was only a funny side effect of a medication I was on, so I didn’t think to tell you.’ Most people appreciate honesty and will relate to your naiveté, so don’t go into the conversation with any hidden agenda.”

If the infection is permanent, say so

If you’ve been diagnosed with something like chlamydia or gonorrhea, the conversation will be easier since treatment is available and those infections go away. If you have something like herpes or HPV, however—infections that have longer-lasting implications—the conversation may be more difficult.

“Honesty and trust should be expected on both sides,” Dweck said. “Especially for these infections where they’re not returnable [like herpes]...You can alter your sexual practices based on the potential for giving or getting an infection, so there’s something you can do about it.”

Consider having the conversation in your doctor’s office. Having a neutral third party in the room can help to make the conversation more straightforward, and remove some of the stigma of an STI infection since your doctor will be able to answer your partner’s questions calmly and with confidence.

Dweck says that her patients sometimes bring their partners to her office to share their diagnosis, or to have a follow-up conversation about testing and treatment where the partner can ask questions.

Try not to get defensive with your partner

Approach the conversation from a straightforward, medical place, even if you suspect your partner is the source of your infection ― or even that infidelity was involved. Dweck and Nelson agree that your health is most important at this point, and you will need to have many conversations about your relationship. For now, though, both partners need to focus on getting tested and treated.

“Be empathetic and try not to be defensive,” says Nelson. “Remember, someone gave this to you, and you are probably angry with them. And keep in mind that anger is many times a cover up feeling for fear. Your partner is probably scared.”

Try to ease your stress as much as possible too, Nelson added.

“Stress compounds any infection in your body, so make sure you do what you need to do for yourself to make these conversations as caring and honest as you can, but take time to heal yourself as well,” she said.

An STI diagnosis doesn’t have to end a relationship

“Some couples survive an STI diagnosis just fine. And depending on the infection, some clear up with correct treatment and follow up,” says Nelson.

On the other hand, an STI diagnosis could provide an opportunity to end a relationship that’s been rocky. “Other infections and other couples may see this as the can opener that gets them out of a relationship that wasn’t working well anyway,” Nelson added.

Luban says that, in general, her partners have handled her disclosure well, though it helps to frame the conversation positively and not go into it anticipating rejection. She suggests giving your partner space to process the news and ask questions. And, she adds, “it can be helpful to have answers to some of people’s most common questions about [the STI] or be able to point them in the direction of a couple good resources if that’s something they need.”

Start the conversation early

If you don’t have an STI to disclose, why not open up that conversation early in your relationship by suggesting getting tested together? It can be a healthy way to bond with your partner; you’ll get to know each other better, and find out how your love interest handles difficult conversations.

As Nelson and Dweck point out, STIs are a reality, and talking about them openly and without shame is the best way to end the stigma.

“As I got more used to the idea that I had herpes and gained experience with talking about it, disclosing became easier and easier,” Luban says. “And, fortunately, everyone I’ve disclosed to has been super cool about it.”

These Inspiring Muslim Vloggers Are Changing Minds With Makeup

The most beautiful thing about these four stellar beauty influencers is their power to shatter harmful stereotypes.

Muslim vloggers Dina Tokio, Zukreat Nazar, Manal Chinutay, and Amena Khan have a combined following of over 4 million people. In a new video from Elle, these talented women open up about how they use their platform to not only provide makeup and beauty and style inspiration, but to shatter misconceptions and change the conversation about Muslim women.

They open up about the labels placed on them, how wearing hijab is their own choice, why starting their YouTube channels filled a void of representation and how, yes, makeup really can make a difference in the world.

“It annoyed me a bit that I didn’t see any representation of Muslim women other than really negative ones or ones that just weren’t like me and my friends were, and I just thought, ‘You know what, the only way to talk to people or show people what we’re like is to just get on,’” said Tokio. “’Get on YouTube, get on social media yourself, and just do it yourself.’”

“It may seem like such a small thing to do, to have the notion that beauty can make a difference,” Khan said. “But just having the platform and being able to engage with people as a human has the potential to broaden people’s minds about understanding Muslim women, and women in general.”

Chinutay said that within Islamic society “there [are] a lot of head turns toward people who do practice makeup or that style the hijab a little differently,” but she maintained the importance of continuing to do so.

“I feel like what I do really empowers women, and builds confidence in women,” she said. “And builds a community of Muslims and non-Muslims.”

Having an open dialogue and understanding of one another is crucial. If change can start with a blush brush, count us all the way in.

Gisele Posts Anti-Trump Tweet On Day Of Patriots' White House Visit

One hundred and forty characters can say 1,000 words.

On the day of the New England Patriots’ White House visit to celebrate their Super Bowl win, Gisele decided to post a message that made her political stance quite clear.

In a since-deleted tweet, Gisele ― who is an avid environmentalist ― shared a link to the Peoples Climate Movement’s upcoming April 29 protest in Washington, D.C., against the Trump administration’s climate policies, the Washington Post and other outlets reported.

Gisele’s quarterback husband, Tom Brady, skipped the White House trip Wednesday due to “personal family matters.”

For months, there has been ongoing debate over Brady’s support for and friendship with Trump. The two have known each other for years, and the POTUS claimed to have the football star’s vote in the 2016 election.

“Tom Brady, great guy, great friend of mine, great, great champion, unbelievable winner,” Trump said at a November rally. “He called today and he said, ‘Donald, I support you, you’re my friend, and I voted for you.’”

However, when her Instagram followers asked about it, Gisele shot down the claims. And she also apparently told her beau to stop talking politics in public

“I talked to my wife, and she said I can’t talk about politics anymore,” Brady said in November. “I think that’s a good decision, maybe for our family.”

This is not the first time Gisele has used social media to push against ongoing issues under the Trump administration. Back in February, she shared a message promoting diversity during the immigration debate.

This Mom Is Raising Money To Open An Accessible Salon For Kids With Disabilities

Getting a haircut can be a challenging experience for any child, but especially for a child with disabilities. That’s why a Minnesota mom and hair stylist is trying to open an accessible salon specifically for kids with cognitive and physical differences in St. Paul.

“As a beauty professional with daughters that have challenges, I know that there are aspects of a salon that can create obstacles for some individuals to have a positive experience. Will the building be accessible? Will there be loud music? Chemical smells? What if I need a break? How will the staff react to my differences? Getting a bad haircut can be low on the list of concerns,”Cat Miller Rongitsch wrote on the GoFundMe page she posted to raise money for the salon.

Rongitsch has a 9-year-old step-daughter named Maddy, who is paraplegic from spina bifida and uses a wheelchair, and a second daughter, 3-year-old Betty, who has cognitive disabilities. At the last salon she worked at, the front door wasn’t accessible and Maddy had to use a side entrance.

Over the years, the stylist has also made home visits to do haircuts for kids with autism who have difficulty in a salon environment.

“There’s so much anxiety and fear for the whole family going to the salon. It’s a big deal, so having me come in helps alleviate some of that. There should be a place for that,” she told The Huffington Post.

Rongitsch’s salon will have accessible entrances and wide aisles, a quiet atmosphere aided by silent blow dryers and textured flooring for people with visual impairment. The salon will also offer weighted blankets and fidget toys. She hopes to create a “safe space” for all people with disabilities to get “services with dignity.”

Recalling a photo that went viral in 2015 of a barber lying on the floor to cut the hair of a boy with autism, she says: “It was good to see that, but at the same time it made me sad that this family was so overwhelmed by the care that this stylist took with their little boy that it went viral. It should be the standard and it’s a standard I want to create.”

So far, the reception has been good. Rongitsch says she has been overwhelmed with responses from families who can’t wait to visit the salon when it is opened. As of Thursday morning, she had raised $3,895 of her $25,000 goal.

“There are so many people reaching out to me and saying ‘Thank you’ and that they’re so glad there will finally be a place for their family to go. There’s a lot of excitement and encouragement,” she says.

Parents Are Loving This Mom's Viral Diaper Bag Hack

A California mom is going viral for the creative diaper bag hack she shared on Facebook.

On April 10, Elizabeth Rasco posted photos of a Huggies baby wipes box on the Facebook page for her face and mural painting business, The Painted Dragon.

In the caption, she wrote, “So I have to share this really cool diaper bag hack I accidentally discovered. I know its not face painting related, but I’m pretty sure I have a few moms following that could use this. I also dropped a roll of doggie bags in the bottom for dirty diaper and clothes.”

Indeed, the photos show Rasco used a thin elastic headband to attach a pack of wipes to the top of the dispenser box and thus free up space to put a backup baby outfit, plastic bags, diapers and more.

Rasco’s post received over 17,000 likes and was shared over 109,000 times.

Following the viral spread of the post, she followed up with a more detailed explanation and updated version of her hack.

"Poked eight strategically placed holes, strung them with embroidery floss, and tied the headband to the inside,” she wrote. “Then dotted the knots with super glue so they would hold for longer. Then if the rubber band breaks or gets too old, it can be easily replaced with a new one. I also put a roll of doggie bags in there for disposal and keeping the soiled clothes in.”

Rasco’s hack clearly appealed to parents tired of digging through cluttered diaper bags to find every little thing. Many wrote in the comments section that they’ve devised similar systems for their bags and others thanked the mom for sharing the idea.

“This would be great to keep in the car,” commented one parent. “This is brilliant!” added another.

Here's Why Queen Elizabeth II Has Two Birthdays Every Year

$
0
0

We all have that one friend who loves their birthday so much, they manage to extend it into a birth-week each year. As it turns out, Queen Elizabeth II is one of those friends. Kind of.

The queen has not one, but two birthday celebrations every year. The first is her real birthday (April 21) and the second is her “official birthday,” held each year in June. While the exact date varies, the celebration is held on a Saturday and coincides with the Trooping the Colour. You may have thought that 2016’s seemingly endless celebration was only in honor of her milestone 90th birthday, but she actually celebrates it more than once every year.

But why? The reason is kind of hilarious, and so British.

Best-selling royal author Robert Jobson, who has chronicled the royal family for 25 years, told The Huffington Post that the tradition goes way back to 1748, in the time of King George II. “George was born in November, and felt the weather would be too cold at that time of year for his annual birthday parade,” he said. “So instead, he combined his birthday celebration with an annual spring military parade known as Trooping the Colour, in which regiments displayed their flags or ‘colours’ so soldiers would be familiar with them.”

In other words, the queen has two birthdays because of Britain’s notoriously unpredictable weather

Trooping the Colour, which will be held on June 17 this year, is a public affair. The royal family famously makes an appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during the ceremony, to the delight of royal enthusiasts everywhere. But the queen’s actual birthday, April 21, is celebrated with much less fanfare, according to Victoria Arbiter, royal correspondent for CNN.

“The queen is not one for fuss and so birthdays are generally marked quietly and privately,” Arbiter told The Huffington Post. “For the milestone birthdays such as her 90th last year the whole family will come together for a special dinner, but by and large the queen prefers a low-key affair.”

Knowing how much the queen loves cake, we presume there is one involved in the celebration.

Arbiter explained that while it’s not required for the queen to have two birthday celebrations, “It is tradition. And if there is anything for which the royal family is most famous, it’s tradition.”

Leave it to the queen to prioritize a tradition that involves more parties. Now that’s our kind of monarch. Happy 91st birthday, Queen Elizabeth II!

Check out some photos of the queen celebrating both of her birthdays below.

The Fast Food Items Not Even Gwyneth Paltrow Can Resist

A post shared by Gwyneth Paltrow (@gwynethpaltrow) on

So your jade vagina egg is all packed up and you’re ready to head out on a summer vacation. Unfortunately, nothing can prepare you for the decidedly un-Goopy fast food options typically found in airports and rest stops.

Naturally, none other than $200 smoothie enthusiast Gwyneth Paltrow is here to help. Goop’s “Fast Food Guide” maps out the healthiest available options from popular fast food chains. The list suggests wrapping your McDonald’s “grilled chicken burger” in lettuce (for the record, there is nothing called a “grilled chicken burger” on the McDonald’s menu ― we can only assume Goop staffers aren’t McD’s frequenters and mean “grilled chicken sandwich”). They also suggest you remove the bread from Subway sandwiches to turn them into salads (womp). But there are a few items not even Gwynnie and her staff at Goop can say no to.

KFC, Arby’s, Dunkin’ Donuts and Dairy Queen round out the list’s “Just Order the Fries ...” section. The list includes lighter options for these restaurants, but admits some things, like biscuits from KFC and doughnuts from Dunkin’ Donuts, are “hard to pass up.”

Our favorite item on the list has got to be curly fries from Arby’s, which Goop claims are “best enjoyed with reckless abandon.”

We’ll dunk a curly fry into some organic, low-sugar ketchup to that.

Head to Goop to see the entire list.

New York Fashion Week Shortens Schedule To Become An Actual Week

$

For W magazine, by Kyle Munzenrieder.

Don’t let the “week” in New York Fashion Week fool you. Sure, the standard meaning of a week may be seven days, but in recent years NYFW has expanded to an eight-day official schedule. Of course, there’s always more than a few unofficial shows and events the day before the unofficial kickoff, and for the busiest (or thirstiest) fashionistas there’s always something to do the night before that. Meaning that, for some, the “week” can turn into a 10-day slog (and never mind the VIPs who have to shuttle off to the London, Milan and Paris week ― all of varying lengths ― afterwards).

Well, the Council of Fashion Designers of America has decided that the “week” in the title should no longer be an approximation. They’re cutting the official schedule back a day to just seven starting with the Spring 2017 shows scheduled for next September.

Related: The Best of New York Fashion Week Fall 2017

Marc Jacobs will keep his traditional closing event status, but his show will be moved from Thursday to Wednesday, September 13th at 6 p.m. Calvin Klein will official kick off events a week before on Thursday, September 7th.

It’s the latest sign that the CFDA is cracking down on scheduling excess. Last season, the organization got into a tiff with Kanye West after he decided to plop down his latest Yeezy showing last minute in the middle of Fashion Week with no respect for the rest of the shows. West had pulled similar stunts in the past, but the CFDA finally spoke up and eventually both parties worked out the scheduling conflicts.

The schedule tightening also comes as New York has lost some of its signature shows (at least for the time being). Hometown hero Proenza Schouler is relocating to Paris next season where it will join Rodarte who made the jump last season. Hood By Air, meanwhile, is now on “hiatus.” Others, like Tommy Hilfiger and Rebecca Minkoff, showed in Los Angeles last season (though, it’s not for certain that they won’t return). Opening Ceremony, meanwhile, has gone completely off the traditional calendar.

Though, next NYFW will see one return. After skipping last season and abandoning his “see now, buy now” experiment, Tom Ford will once again show in New York Fashion Week. He’ll close out the opening Thursday.

The CFDA says they hope the move means that there will be a stronger concentration of shows on each day. “It’s important to have strong opening and closing shows,” CFDA VP of Marketing Marc Beckham tells WWD. “But it’s just as important to have strong designers showing everyday.”

These Women Covered Their Bodies In Glitter To Make A Colorful Statement

$

What’s better than a group of women coming together to celebrate their bodies? A group of women coming together to celebrate their bodies by dousing themselves in glitter and having a super fun photoshoot.

Fifteen body-positive, Australia-based women held their third annual “Glitter Extravaganza” in rural Queensland earlier this month. The group, comprised of women ages 19 to 36, met on Instagram over a shared interest in lingerie.

Bonnie V., one of the participants who writes lingerie reviews, told The Huffington Post that the group’s goal is to shatter the pressure put on women to look a certain way. “We’ve had enough,” she said. “Our focus is encouraging women everywhere to embrace the bodies they have, regardless of what they have been told is acceptable by mass media.”

It might seem odd for a group of people who bonded over a love of lingerie to make a statement by stripping their clothes off altogether, but then, the lingerie isn’t really the point.

“We are showcasing that none of us look like stereotypical models, we are all different shapes and sizes,” Bonnie V. said. “Yet we can (and will) model our lingerie collections and celebrate the bodies we have.”

Plus, glitter just makes everything better, doesn’t it? Check out more photos from the shoot below.

Balenciaga Now Sells A $2,145 Version Of Ikea’s $0.99 Blue Bag

Get ready to purse your lips, y’all.

Balenciaga has come out with a designer bag that will look strikingly familiar to anyone who has ever been to Ikea.

That’s because the couture brand’s new $2,145 Arena Extra-Large Shopper Tote Bag looks almost exactly like Ikea’s $0.99 blue plastic bags.

Both are electric blue, have a similar construction and are big enough to comfortably carry a four-pack of wine glasses that will break in a month, 50 packages of Swedish Fish and two weeks worth of sweat-drenched gym clothes.

The biggest difference between the two bags is that Ikea’s crinkly “Frakta” bag is made of recyclable plastic while Balenciaga’s consists of “glazed leather.” Oh, and that one costs $2,144 more than the other.

“We are deeply flattered that the Balenciaga tote bag resembles the Ikea iconic sustainable blue bag for 99 cents. Nothing beats the versatility of a great big blue bag!” a spokesperson for Ikea told Today.

The Huffington Post reached out to Balenciaga for comment but did not hear back by the time of publication. We will update this story accordingly.

Sarah Palin Just Single-Handedly Ruined Off-The-Shoulder Tops For Half Of America

With just one photo opp, Sarah Palin killed one of this year’s most popular pieces of clothing (for at least half of America) when she wore an off-the-shoulder shirt in the Oval Office.

Véronique Hyland, a fashion writer at The Cut, made the call and announced the time of death as 5:11 p.m. ET, April 20 ― not even 24 hours after Palin wore the shirt to visit President Trump at the White House.

Ted Nugent and Kid Rock were there to witness the shirt’s untimely demise:

Palin paired the white lace shirt with a bunch of bangles, a black skirt with a prominent zipper and opened-toed nude heels.

As Vogue has pointed out in the past, revealing one’s shoulders and wearing opened-toed shoes is generally frowned upon for White House visits (so technically, Nugent’s wife, Shemane, also committed a faux pas).

Perhaps Palin ― and the rest of her casually dressed crew ― were just taking former President Obama’s relaxed Oval Office dress code to the extreme.

However, we commend Kid Rock’s new fiancée, Audrey Berry, for nailing the White House visitor’s dress code.

Danielle Brooks Just Made Women Everywhere Feel Better About Stretch Marks

Like any of us, Danielle Brooks sometimes has a hard time accepting her stretch marks. But she doesn’t let them define her.

The “Orange Is The New Black” actress recently opened up about her stretch marks for People magazine’s 2017 Most Beautiful Woman issue.

“Sometimes I’ll look at myself and be like, ‘Dang girl, you got a lot of stretch marks.’ But then I’m like, ‘That’s just the road map of my strength,’” she said.

The 27-year-old added, “They remind me of things that I’ve gone through. I need to just embrace them and celebrate them. For the most part, I find ways to embrace my body.”

Brooks recently shared photos from her People shoot, where she went make-up free for the mag, alongside fellow actress Nina Dobrev. The “OITNB” star explained why she chose to go barefaced in an empowering Instagram post.

“For the girls who never felt pretty enough or were made to feel less than because their beauty was unique, I was you once. One day you will realize your B•E•A•U•T•Y. Outer beauty is fleeting, but lasting beauty comes from within,” the actress wrote. “This one is especially for all the beautiful dark skin girls who are underrepresented. Majestic is our melanin.”

Katy Perry makes an excellent double for Guy Fieri.

On Thursday, the singer styled her new blonde buzzcut into Fieri’s signature gelled spikes for a hilariously accurate post to commemorate unofficial National Look Alike Day.

“Happy #420, #nationallookalikeday and now #nevergettinglaidday,” Perry captioned the photo.

While Fieri has yet to respond, Perry’s fans on Twitter reacted in amused bewilderment and pointed out a previous time she channeled the mayor of Flavortown with her concert getup.

LOL. Keep that Fieri fire coming, Katy.

Blake Lively Goes Off On Reporter Who Asks About Her 'Power Outfit'

Blake Lively was having none of the status-quo red carpet sexism while attending Variety’s Power of Women event Friday.

The actress, who is one of Variety’s honorees, was answering questions on the red carpet at New York City’s Cipriani when she was asked about her go-to “power outfit” by a female reporter, according to the New York Daily News.

“Come on, you want to talk about an outfit today?” she asked. “Come on, what about building women up? Outfits? Would you ask a man that? ... You wouldn’t ask a man what a power outfit was. I’m sorry.”

A Twitter video from the moment shows Lively telling the reporter it’s time to learn ― and change.

Back in January, Lively joined the Women’s March in New York City to help be a face for the movement. She has been vocal about championing women’s rights, for herself, for her daughters and for complete strangers.

When it comes to raising her children, she is conscious about pushing back against Hollywood’s beauty standards

“We have really unrealistic beauty standards and beauty norms,” Lively told Refinery29 in February. “What you’re seeing on red carpets and in magazines takes a lot of effort and a lot of people. People don’t understand that it’s all very constructed. What little girls are seeing isn’t what [these celebrities] look like when they wake up in the morning — even though it’s no less beautiful.”
