The 'Look'

Dating can be a very anxious experience. We have found a person we are interested in, we have gotten up the courage to express our interest and now we are exploring the relationship by getting to know each other.

So many thoughts are going through our heads while on a date.

"How do I look?"
"Am I eating too loud?"
"Did I really just bring up something embarrassing from high school?"

There often many uncertainties with dating, but there is one lesson we have been taught that is supposed to make dating easier: "You can tell if a person likes you by their body language."

Sadly, the advice is often given based on gender (and often assumes a heterosexual relationship).

Examples include:
If a guy touches your knee, he is interested in you.
If a girl plays with her hair, she is interested in you.

This advice is as old as dating itself. Online, you can find lists describing various body language signals for knowing whether a person is into you - in addition to an unlimited number of books promising you the secrets to deciphering body language.

Too bad this advice is wrong.

While many people are taught to rely on body language as a sure fire way of knowing exactly what the other person wants, body language is notoriously unreliable.

For example, one of the signs that a person is into you is if their arms are open and not crossed in front of their body. Say you are on a date, and you notice your partner has his/her arms crossed. You immediately think they are not having fun on the date and are not interested in you. Meanwhile, you partner is freezing and wishes they had brought a jacket. Maybe crossing their arms is what they do when they are nervous (which actually could mean they are into you). They are still having a great time and they may really like you, but their body language is different than what is typically expected.

Another example is smiling to show interest. Your partner on the date is telling you some really awful, crude jokes. You are shocked because you can't believe someone is actually saying that sort of thing. You are smiling because you are uncomfortable and that is your response in awkward moments - to smile. Your partner then takes your smiling as a sign that they are really funny and you are having a great time listening to their jokes.

See how easy miscommunication with body language can be?

So why has the body language myth persisted? It is because our society has never given people the skills to use their words to discover exactly what someone is thinking and/or wanting.

You might be thinking, "No. Wrong, Mike. People don't ask because they are afraid of rejection or of being awkward and ruining the moment." If you don't ask and just go for it based on body language, can you be rejected? YES! Can you create an awkward situation ruining the entire date? YES!

Making sexual advances purely based on interpreting body language is MORE likely to lead to rejection and awkwardness. You are acting based on assumptions and often arrogance of thinking you know what another person wants.

The thought process of "I'm not going to ask first. I'll just read their body language, assume what the person wants, and go for it instead. After all, they can always stop me", sounds like a person who doesn't care what a partner truly wants and/or is feeling. That person is saying, "I'm not going to give my partner a choice because the person might actually say, 'No' - so instead I'm just going to do it" (whether "it" is a kiss or more advanced sexual activity). Such a belief system is cold and callous.

Sadly, many of us have grown up in a culture that teaches that very behavior that lead to many of us making those exact mistakes.

Today, we know better and we need to have open conversation as a culture about the simple and respectful concept of:

ASK.

Humans developed vocalization to help them communicate thoughts, ideas and wants. We no longer have to rely solely on body language. By asking, we can find out immediately what our partner is feeling. They can let us know if they are having fun or not. They can let us know if they like us or not. You can also let your partner know if you are having a good time or not.

What is the worst thing that could happen? Your partner says "no." While this may seem like the absolute worst, it really isn't. Think about it, if your partner says they are not having a good time, you can end the date right there if you've discovered this is just isn't a good match. After all, a date is an audition. If you are not a good fit for each other, no need to continue the experience feeling stuck.

Asking your partner if he/she is having a good time can also show your partner that you care about how he/she feels. By asking, you are taking the partner's feelings into consideration. This shows your partner you care.

Stop guessing. Ask first. Give your partner a choice.

Star Trek Fans Think This Woman's Holiday Flair Is Out Of This World

A woman's festive adornment boldly goes where no Christmas fashion has gone before... and Trekkies are geeking out about it.

Throngs of people on the Internet have pointed out how the woman's two-toned outfit and gold-colored Christmas tree pin seem to conjure images of a Starfleet member.

With buttons on the sleeve of the outfit, some have pointed out the woman is even donning rank insignia.

Reddit user LadyDrinksALot posted the image to Reddit on Wednesday, where it was upvoted more than 5,500 times and has more than 2.1 million views on Imgur.

Of course, true Trekkies know the outfit is a spatial anomaly, as Starfleet outfits are actually black at the top with red below, and the symbol is on the red part of the garment. The widely recognized outfit is seen in this image of Jean-Luc Picard (played by Patrick Stewart).

The photographer confirmed with The Huffington Post that the image was taken at Central Market in Austin, Texas.

"I snapped it and ran. I 100% admit to taking a photo without permission. I'm sorry for being a bad person," she commented on Reddit.

Redditors excited about the futuristic look weren't short of Star Trek puns and wordplay to express their excitement.

"I wonder if she'll pass that dress along to The Next Generation when she doesn't want it anymore," user Jackin_the_Beanstalk posted.

"Weaved long and proper," said gridpoint

"Make it sew," Redditor Mac_User_ added.

Meet the Plus-Size Male Models Who Just Might Change the Fashion Industry

A few years ago, Zach Miko's girlfriend bet him $500 that one day he would be featured as one of People magazine's "World's Most Beautiful." While Miko was happy to have "tricked" a gorgeous woman--and occasional fitness model--into believing he could make such a list, he didn't feel beautiful. At the time, Miko, who is 6-feet, 6-inches tall and weighs 275 pounds, was playing the role of "Dinosaur Troubadour" in a puppet show at a prehistoric-themed amusement park in New Jersey. He wasn't exactly model material.

"She's always been very confident in me," Miko says of his now-wife. "But it was a ridiculous bet. As a man-of-size, you spend your whole life knowing you're a big guy and you kind of also know that you're not traditionally attractive from start to finish."
Then, in July, Miko was walking up Fifth Avenue in Manhattan when he received a call that changed all of that. Target wanted him to be the company's first plus-size guy to model its big and tall line. For Miko, who can vividly recount the pain he felt as a nine-year-old when a girl called him ugly, the moment was surreal. He said yes and celebrated by treating himself to an overpriced doughnut.

Miko is big but not bovine, tall but not towering. He has blue eyes, sandy blond hair, and the kind of healthy brown beard that would make tree bark blush. He looks good sporting Target's tame t-shirts and jeans, even if he clearly doesn't know what to do with his hands in some pictures. One unexpected benefit of the Target job was that Miko found a pair of pants that fit. After his first shoot, he purchased five pairs. Curiously, standing alongside Miko on Target's "big and tall" website are much thinner men. In fact, the other models are comically slim for a big and tall clothing line.

The fashion industry has long been off-limits to anyone with a waistline wider than a bicep. But lately, the women's industry has begun to welcome curvy models. They've appeared in major editorials for Ralph Lauren, Levi's, and Vogue. They've walked runways in Milan, Paris, and New York. Yet, the men's industry is lagging. The gaunt, broomstick builds popularized by Hedi Slimane campaigns a decade ago for Dior Homme are still the frame de riguer for male models. Super slim suits look best on super slim boys. The closest any plus-size model has come to modeling at a major fashion show was at L.A. Fashion Week in October when, modeling a black, yellow, and teal, spandex onesie made by the flashy men's underwear line Marco Marco, Dexter Mayfield--built more like a tulip than a straw-grass super model--sashayed down the catwalk wearing five-inch heals.

"There isn't a plus-size male model in the industry on the runway, and we were closing L.A. Fashion Week, so I was a bundle of nerves," Mayfield says. Despite the nerves, Mayfield thrilled the audience, which exploded in cheers as soon as he started his strut. "It was a feeling like no other, the entire room just gave me so much love and energy." The moment has been watched 550,000 times on YouTube and was even shared by Stefano Gabbana. The attention hasn't led to any modeling gigs for Mayfield, but he's hopeful.

"I'm excited to see where things go. I would love to make it to New York, or Paris, or Milan, but if it happens to another amazing, handsome, beautiful male model, that's great as well."

Bigger runway models aren't the only piece missing from the men's fashion world, so is plus-size clothing. As such, the men's clothing industry has neglected scores of men looking for fine threads that fit. (Miko admits the most expensive piece of clothing he owns is a New York Giants jersey.) For Kelvin Davis, who runs a body positive men's fashion blog under the name Notoriously Dapper, the breaking point was a trip to Express three years ago. He'd spotted a red blazer that he liked but the sleeves of a 42R didn't go past his elbows. When he asked for a bigger size, he was told the company didn't make any.

"Express is trying to tell me that they don't want larger guys wearing their jackets," Davis told me. "So I decided to make a fashion blog because I realized there were a lot of guys struggling to look stylish in their own bodies."

Davis, who is built like an undersized linebacker, began sharing pictures of himself modeling trendy outfits full of flannel, denim, and leather. He started to develop a following--much of it credited to the support of plus-sized model superstar Tess Holliday--and now boasts some 27,000 followers on Instagram and plenty of traffic on his blog.

"When I started I figured it was just my grandma and my mom looking at it. But men struggle with this just as much as women do--men just aren't as vocal about it. I know a lot of guys don't want to be out there complaining about how jackets don't fit at Express, but I'm not afraid to speak up because I know who I am. The fact that I care about how I look doesn't make me less of a man."

In November, Davis was one of 10 men of various heights and girths chosen to model a line of nostalgically short shorts made by Chubbies. While he'd love to make a living as a model, he isn't about to quit his job as a middle school art teacher. For now, Davis is hoping that other clothing lines will follow Chubbies' lead and hire more body positive models.

Jamaal Carroll founded Oublier (French for "to forget"), a contemporary clothing line that caters to men of size. But when it came time to shoot his first collection, he couldn't find models.

"Thus far, we've found our models on the streets of L.A.," says Carroll. "To be completely honest, I automatically assumed that the models I was looking for wouldn't be represented at agencies." And he's right. The only legitimate modeling agencies finding work for big and tall male models are in Germany. One New York agency told me they recruited plus-size men on an as-needed basis, usually plucking them from the aisles of big and tall stores. Another French modeling agency told me their plus-size men "are more plus size than they are models."

While Target isn't the sort of campaign that models dream of, the mere presence of a truly big and tall guy modeling an international company's clothing line has been enough to land Miko in headlines around the world. Tabloids and blogs have celebrated him. He appeared on Good Morning America. But all of the attention hasn't meant anything to his bank account. Though he makes far more money for a day of shooting with Target than he ever made at the dinosaur theme park, he's unsure if he can turn it into a career.

"It's frustrating because I've been talking to these agencies and even though there's no downside to them signing me, they're still hesitant. They tell me, 'If we sign you we have no idea what's going to happen because this has literally never been done before.' Like having me on they're website would be a risk."

Still, the attention has been fun. Miko even did an interview with People magazine.
"I still don't think it's possible," Miko says of making the magazine's "Most Beautiful" list. "But I never thought it would be more likely now than it was two years ago."

Gwen Stefani And Blake Shelton Are Still Going Strong

$

Well,  the Season 9 finale of "The Voice" has come and gone, and Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are still together.

If you thought their relationship was nothing more than a showmance, perhaps it's time to think again. The pair was spotted at the show's after-party on Tuesday and they were still going strong. Rumors the pair coupled up for ratings seem less likely -- and the romance didn't actually attract that many new viewers. Ratings this time around were slightly up compared to Season 8's May finale, but Tuesday's episode was the lowest-rated winter finale in the show's history.

"The Voice" returns for its 10th season on Feb. 29, and Christina Aguilera will reclaim her big red chair. The singer's return will boot Stefani off the show -- something Shelton isn't looking forward to.

“I don’t [want] Gwen to not be on the show -- why can't we have a fifth coach?" Shelton recently told Extra. When the interviewer suggested possibly having two female coaches, the country singer added his support. "Why can't there be? I vote for that!" he said.

The pair, who split from their respective spouses this summer, confirmed their relationship in early November. Between all the PDA and Stefani spitting out, "I love you ... ish" during an interview, they seem to be on the fast track to something serious.

The Best Covers Of Adele's 'Hello' We've Heard So Far

$

Earlier this week, Claudio Sanchez of Coheed And Cambria (you know you loved them back in high school and/or college) released a video of himself covering Adele's "Hello."

Sanchez's rendition of the ballad is hauntingly beautiful thanks to his high voice, which lends itself surprisingly well to the track.

After hearing it, we naturally reached for the tissues, and then of course couldn't help but listen to more covers -- because if we're going to listen to one song on repeat for the rest of the year, it's obviously going to be "Hello."

Check out our favorite covers of Adele's hit song below. You're going to want to listen to all of them, we promise you won't be disappointed.

1. Claudio Sanchez (Coheed And Cambria)

Simple, emotional and haunting.

2. Adorable Little Girl

You're going to need extra tissues for this one. It's just so cute and will definitely pull at those heartstrings and give you all the feels. Also, she has a CARDBOARD GUITAR. It's too much.

This is the cutest!!!!! Adele

Posted by La La Anthony on Monday, December 14, 2015

3. Lydia Lee

The Seoul Music high school student became an online sensation with her beautiful cover. She even appeared on "Ellen" and sang it for the audience.

4. Demi Lovato

Lovato showed off her impressive pipes when she performed the Adele ballad at Seattle's Fall Ball. Girl has some serious chops.

5. Amanda Cole

The YouTube singer gives Adele's song a whole lot of soul and an added touch of grittiness.

6. ASL Interpretation

Seeing this song performed in American Sign Language makes it even more mesmerizing.

7. Bryson Andres on Violin

Adele's lyrics are beautiful, but so is this lovely violin loop cover.

8. Castro the Band

Castro the Band creates beautiful harmonies with their three voices, giving "Hello" a unique texture and depth.

9. Peddo Brian on Ukulele

We never thought we'd hear "Hello" as a reggae song, but we really love it.

10. Conor Maynard

This stripped-down version of "Hello" is another one that will really get you in the gut. Seriously, stock up on the tissues.

11. Alex Boye

Adele + "Star Wars" = the best thing we could ever ask for.

12. Ten Second Songs

This rendition is basically 25 covers in one video, making it arguably the most impressive one on this list. You have to watch it from beginning to end for the full effect, but we promise it's worth it.

13. Toby Randall

YouTuber Toby Randall's understated cover may not have Adele's powerful vocals, but it's just as heartbreaking as the original.

14.  Lyar

You may not think Adele and rap would go together, but this clip proves they do. It's also got some trop-house beats that will have you bopping in your seat.

15. Leroy Sanchez

Sanchez's cover is just plain wonderful.

16. Holly Henry

YouTuber Holly Henry's unique vocals give "Hello" a totally different feel, but we're into it. If Lana Del Rey and CocoRosie had a child, this might be how he or she would sound.

17. Sam Tsui, Casey Breves, KHS

This cover has everything you could want: emotion, harmonies and beautiful voices, along with some powerful percussion beats.

18. RoughCopy

RoughCopy takes "Hello" and turns it into a mix that's (dare we say) worthy of some recognition by DJ Mustard.

19. Lukas Rossi

We couldn't make a list of covers without including a rock version of "Hello," and this one by Lukas Rossi is pretty fantastic.

20. The Voices

We think we may have just found some inspiration for the next "Pitch Perfect" movie in this cover (screenwriters, take note!). Beautiful.

In Praise of Pepín: France's Second Greatest Gift to America

$

0
Jacques Pepín turns 80 years old on December 18th. He will celebrate that momentous occasion at home. With his family. They will cook the meal together. And celebrate life on this day as they do on so many others, by sharing food and wine, laughter and love.

Among other accolades, he has been called a living legend, a master and an icon. All deserved. Make no mistake: Jacques Pepín is the single greatest cooking instructor in the history of food television. In an era when cooking shows have mostly devolved into competitions, countdowns and travelogues featuring repulsive foods consumed in dangerous places, one man stands above from the rest. As he has for three decades on the small screen, Jacques Pepín teaches people how to cook.

I should know. I got hooked early on the genre by binge watching The Galloping Gourmet (Graham Kerr) in the early 70's. I was so smitten with his show that I ended up going to culinary school 30 years later to earn a professional cooking degree, an experience that culminated with an internship at the fledgling Food Network, where I helped produce segments for Robin Leach, of "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous" fame. By that point, I had viewed hundreds of episodes of The Frugal Gourmet, Justin Wilson ("ga-run-tee"), Natalie DuPree, Martin Yan (Yan Can Cook), Paul Prudhomme, Martha Stewart and Julia Child and anyone else making anything to eat on television.

Pepín never did it for the fame. Or the fortune. It was his calling. Both of his parents made their living with their hands. His mother owned a restaurant, where he worked as a very young child, before and after school, and his father was a cabinet maker. By the age of 13, Jacques was a culinary apprentice in a hotel kitchen. At 17, he was moved to the French President's residence, where he became personal chef to the first of three Presidents he would serve. He never considered it a glamorous position. It was simply "manual labor," but he loved it.

Having saved enough money to take a vacation in America, he came here by boat when he was 24. He fell in love with the USA and decided to stay. Offered a job to cook for President Kennedy, he chose instead to work for the Howard Johnson's restaurant chain, best known for fried clams and paper placemats. Jacques wasn't motivated by glamour or notoriety, but by the value of the learning he could attain working for a company that was mass producing meals. Concurrently, wanting to improve his English, he heard there was a school in New York called Columbia University. So he walked there and enrolled in a high school equivalency program. He followed that with a Bachelors degree and a Masters from Columbia, while working at HoJo's.
[I interviewed him some years ago in this video.]

Encouraged by prominent industry friends (James Beard, Craig Claiborne and Pierre Franey, among others) to write and conduct cooking demonstrations, he spent a lot of time on the road teaching classes in tiny cooking schools across the country. That eventually led to appearances on local public television stations. Pepín has hosted 14 season series since then. Perhaps most well-known was the one in which he and Julia Child cooked together, winning an Emmy Award and James Beard Award in 2001. His current program, Jacques Pepin Heart & Soul -- accompanied by his 29th book! -- will be his last, sadly. But as in every one that preceded it, Pepín stresses the importance of, and demonstrates deliberately, proper technique.

"I certainly don't cook the same way I did 40 years ago, but the technique remains. And that's what the student needs to learn: the technique." ~ Jacques Pepin

Food TV has exploded since those early days, creating a vast army of celebrity chefs. Yet not a single one among them is the equal of Pepín in terms of teaching technique. (Among the hundreds of examples online to choose from, he shows how to make a proper French omelette in this one.)

Although much has been written about Jacques Pepín, the chef, he is also a funny, generous, talented artist and loyal family man. In spite of his impressive credentials and numerous accomplishments, Jacques does not take himself too seriously. Just this past week, Pepín's sense of humor was on full display as he was interviewed on NPR's "Not My Job--Three Questions For Chef Jacques Pépin About Jockstraps." [If you want to get a kick out of him, check out the exchange here.]

People who know him best will tell you that he "does everything for everybody." Quietly, quickly and without self-promotion. I didn't know him well at all, but had once asked if he would sit on a panel together with Danny Meyer and Gary Vaynerchuk that I was organizing to raise money for The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He didn't hesitate for a second, and we raised close to $10,000 in one evening for the cause. Jacques has always given of himself, most notably in the area of teaching. Aside from serving as a Dean of Special at the International Culinary Center, Jacques and Julia Child founded the Master of Liberal Arts in Gastronomy program at Boston University. Also a gifted painter, some of the proceeds from his beautiful artwork are donated to various organizations.

A devoted family man, Jacques has been married to the same woman for 49 years. Although he has cooked on TV with his loving daughter, Claudine, as well as his granddaughter, Shorey, cooking at home is his preferred activity. He recently said, "My greatest ritual is sitting every night at the dining-room table with my wife and sharing our meal and one, sometimes two, bottles of wine and discussing the events of the day." When Claudine and her family visit, everyone will gather in the kitchen, each assigned their own responsibility in assembling the meal they will sit and enjoy together. I'm no psychologist, but it must say something positive about his parental influence that his daughter married a professional chef.

No pretense. No preening. No posturing.

He's not about foam, fusion or fanfare. He eschews the fancy and favors the simple, most happy eating "extraordinary" bread and butter, soup and salad, chicken and eggs. Cooking was never about celebrity. It was work to him, but what glorious work it was. "We're mashed potato makers," he has said, "but we're lucky, we get to do what we love." I think he's happiest when cooking, not simply because he loves to cook, but because he experienced profoundly from the very beginning that food brings joy and creates powerful memories that forever connect family and friends.

Americans will always be grateful to France for the Statue of Liberty. For me, and an entire generation of chefs, culinary students and wanna-be cooks, I thank France for the national treasure that is Jacques Pepín. Happy Birthday, Jacques! You have been the gift to us.

And as he would say, "Happy Cooking."

"America's Next Top Model" might have closed its doors forever, but that's not stopping Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner from discovering the next big thing in the modeling industry.

During a commercial shoot with actor Ansel Egort, the Victoria Secret models noticed a young man by the name of John Economou, a homeless 19-year-old from Milwaukee, who came to California to pursue a modeling career.

"One of the girls said to me, ‘You're cute,' so I turned around and we struck up [a] conversation," Economou explained to The Daily Mail. "I didn't realize who I was speaking to at first and it finally clicked who it was ... Kendall was cool, she was super down-to-earth and chill. We were just having a normal conversation talking about life, acting, modeling, personal lives."

Economou had been trying to break into the modeling industry since moving across the country. Meeting the famous twosome was the shot he'd been waiting for -- thanks to Jenner, he's now signed with Two Management, the modeling agency where she got her start.

Check out some high-fashion snaps from Economou's Instagram below.

Economou's main point of contact since the fateful run-in has been with Kendall's manager and "The Fault In Our Stars" star.

"I've been talking to Kendall's manager a lot, and to Ansel, but I haven't been talking to Kendall or Gigi because they are way too famous," he said. "I'd like to say thank you to them -- they are the reason where I am where I am now."

"It’s a crazy story. I’m super grateful. I was just in the right place at the right time," Economou said.

You can say that again.

Margaret Cho is officially a member of the "Fashion Police," Variety reports.

The actress and comedian is set to join E!'s fashion talk show when it returns in 2016. Cho had previously appeared on the show as a celebrity guest.

The "Fashion Police" panel is now complete with Giuliana Rancic, Brad Goreski and Melissa Rivers returning to take on their co-hosting duties.

Rancic tweeted her excitement about the news on Thursday afternoon.

"Welcome to the family @margaretcho!!!" she wrote.

Cho's addition comes after a rocky year for the show. In February, Kelly Osbourne decided to leave the program amidst controversy surrounding Rancic's offensive remarks about Zendaya's hair

"Kelly Osbourne is departing E!s 'Fashion Police' to pursue other opportunities, and we would like to thank her for her many contributions to the series over the past five years, during which time the show became a hit with viewers," E! said in a statement.

Then, in March, Kathy Griffin (who joined following the death of Joan Rivers) exited the show saying that her style of comedy didn't "fit with the creative direction."

"Fashion Police" will continue to feature a new celebrity guest each episode, as it had implemented following Osbourne and Griffin's departures.

The show returns on Jan. 11 with Golden Globes coverage.

It's probably safe to say that Michelle Obama is the most stylish first lady in U.S. history (though Jackie Kennedy is a close second). Through FLOTUS' almost eight years in the White House, she's had many style moments for the books. And while we love everything Mobama wears all year long, we especially look forward to her holiday ensembles.

Between her metallic dresses, patterned skirts and on-point earrings, this lady helps to bring holiday cheer through her killer fashion choices. Below are some of Mrs. Obama's best holiday outfits to date. Here's hoping the next first lady (or first gentleman!) is as sartorially inclined.

21 Classic Movies With The Best Costumes EVER, Thanks To Edith Head

You might be surprised to know that the record for the most Oscars won by a woman is not held by an actress. Rather, that distinction belongs to a costume designer -- the costume designer, Edith Head.

Over the span of her prolific 44-year career at Paramount Studios, Head garnered 35 Oscar nominations and won eight of the golden statutes, all for Costume Design. The one-time Spanish teacher who cleverly scammed her way into Hollywood by submitting students' sketches to land her plum job, eventually made good and ended up  learning the trade and creating the most memorable looks the silver screen has ever known.

Shirley MacLaine wearing an Edith Head design in "What a Way to Go!"

From 1923 to 1967, Head designed costumes for over 1,100 films, including "All About Eve," "Roman Holiday," "The Birds," and "White Christmas." The California native's penchant for over-the-top glitz, as well as defined tailoring, was what made her a legend.

Head passed away in 1981 and beyond the plethora of motion picture designs she left behind, her awesomeness was said to be immortalized in Pixar's "The Incredibles" via the blunt-bang-wearing and round-spectacle-sporting Edna Mode. She was also highly quotable, dropping gems like: "A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman and loose enough to show you're a lady." Noted.

So, as you prepare to nestle into your couch with family and friends this holiday season, we've rounded up 21 of Head's most awe-inspiring films for your viewing pleasure. These flicks are filled with tons of style inspiration -- one of the greatest gifts of all!

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" opens today, and it looks like celebrities have turned to the film for beauty inspiration.

No, we're not talking Joseph Gordon-Levitt in full Yoda costume (though that was amazing), because Lupita Nyong'o, Sofia Vergara and Daisy Ridley were turning heads. Literally.

It's clear to see that the iconic "Star Wars" character Princess Leia -- who actually goes by General Leia now -- gave the ladies of Hollywood the force to rock buns to the film's premieres. The variety of buns and updos these ladies wore prove that buns are an accessible style for all different hair types.

Take a look at the celebs who made our best beauty list this week, and thank the galaxy gods for bringing  Princess General Leia into our lives.

17 Thoughts You'll Have When You Discover Your First Gray Hair

Whether you're 18, 28, or 58, every one of us will ultimately one day come face to face in the mirror with our first gray hair. No, it's not a sign that you're "old." It just means you're a mere mortal.

Still, not everyone handles it well. Just for fun, we asked our Huff/Post50 Facebook fans to share their experiences of getting their first gray hair. "I was a freshman in high school. My classmates found it and started yanking it out. What went through my mind? I'm too young to be old!" said Kristine Guetschow.

Here's some of what the others had to say:

1. Wait, how did I get glitter in my hair? Let me brush that away.

2. Wait that's not sparkle...

"I was 28 and my son said 'mom, you have a sparky hair'," said Kat Kay.

3. Maybe it's the lighting in here...

4. This couldn't be...

5. Let me take a closer look.

6. Oh no.... shouldn't have.

7. Oh s***!!!! What if I just pull it out? Is it true that more gray hairs will grow in its place?

"At age 54! I saw it and thought, well, I need to pull this one out. It turned into about 100 in no time, and I stopped pulling them out!" said Becky Quinlan.

8. But I'm too young to be old!

9. This is all my dad's fault.

10. That's it. Here comes a lifetime of hair dye.

11. Happy birthday to me. Age: officially old.

"I was 35 years old and the first thought was 'I am getting old'," said Liliana Guzman-Lopez.

12. Thank God for hair dye, though.

13. I guess there's still time for the "total takeover."

14. Maybe I can work this look.

"52. Not such a big deal. Figure I have earned a lot more!" said Gayle Lewis Hiner.

15. After all, George Clooney still looks good, right?

16. Right! And, so does Jamie Lee Curtis.

17. I'm definitely going to be a silver fox.

Now go show off your gray boldly!

William And Kate's Cambridge Family Christmas Card Will Give You All The Feels

It's an early Christmas miracle. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released a new family portrait!

Kensington Palace released the image Friday morning, noting it was taken in October by photographer Chris Jelf

Prince William, Kate and Prince George coordinated in blue and cream hues and collared shirts. Princess Charlotte, who was in dressed in pale pink, appears to be wearing the same outfit she was photographed in by her mom back in November.

The family looks something out of a catalog, save for Charlotte's adorably missing shoe.

The palace released the image to its official Twitter and Instagram accounts, along with a message of thanks.

"The Duke and Duchess are hugely appreciative of all the warm messages they have received about their family this year and are very much looking forward to their first Christmas as a family of four," it read.

In contrast to the more dressed-up portraits taken of the foursome by Mario Testino at Charlotte's christening, this image looks relaxed, happy, and dare we say, normal?

Must be the joy of getting two small children to look into the camera and smile at the same time.

Model and TV personality Chrissy Teigen stripped down to just a nude bra and blue skirt while hanging around the office with her "FABLife" colleagues on Thursday. If it weren't an HR violation at most workplaces, we bet you'd be doing the same thing.

Teigen posted a photo of her look on Instagram, with the caption, "Taco party!" Her co-host, Joe Zee, the editor-in-chief of Yahoo Style, reposted the picture on his own account, writing,"I am always the overdressed one at lunch."

Taco party! We will miss you, @carrieelizabeth!!! @mrjoezee @laurenmakk @livingwithleah love all of you!!

Teigen continued to bring the sexiness to her Instagram account that evening.

The 30-year-old, who comes out with a cookbook early next year, Instagrammed photos and videos of herself making cinnamon buns in the kitchen. This time, the pregnant model appeared overdressed in the pictures, wearing a low-cut black and gold outfit with gold jewelry.

We just can't wait to meet her little one (and take a bite out of her cookbook!)
