Kate Middleton's Outfit Change In Australia Confuses Us

0
0
Is this Kate Middleton's "Super Sweet 16" or a trip to the Outback?

The duke and duchess arrived in Ayers Rock on Tuesday, and while they looked adorable (and as matchy) as ever in neutrals, we're kind of wondering why Kate changed dresses from a taupe Roksanda Ilincic to a patterned Hobbs in the middle of the day.

Not that we're complaining, we love any opportunity to see Kate in another dress (especially a recycled one) but the dresses are pretty similar in shape and color scheme, and it looks like even Will kept on his super casual, not to mention hipster (that BELT!) outfit on all day.

Maybe she's starting to panic that she brought all these dresses and doesn't have time to wear them all? Maybe Prince George spit his adorable spittle all over the first one? Or perhaps we're just looking too far into this and she simply felt like changing in the afternoon. Whatever the reason for the outfit change, we're fans of both dresses.

Which look do you prefer?

Kris Jenner Reportedly Bought A $200 Bong For Her Mother

Kris Jenner is cooler than you think.

After attending church services on Easter, which happened to fall on 4/20 this year, Jenner stopped by Dementia - A Smoker's Gallery in Sherman Oaks, Calif. to make a medicinally-related purchase, reports RadarOnline.

The 58-year-old reality star apparently shelled out $200 on a bong and other accessories, but they weren't for her, or that's what she reportedly told the store's employees.

“She said that she needed a pipe for her mother. She was saying her mom had back pain," the store's manager Jessica Conway told RadarOnline. “I explained to her that she needed to get a medicinal marijuana card in order to go to a dispensary. She didn’t know about that, so she was curious.”

Jenner, who also reportedly picked up a leopard print bong bag (we definitely believe that) and a pack of incense, was also photographed leaving Dementia's Woodland Hills location on Friday, April 18, while she was filming scenes for "Keeping Up With The Kardashians."

Request for comment made to Jenner's rep has not been returned at this time.

The Internet has been buzzing about the lack of options for plus size teens looking for prom dresses. When I was a plus size teen, the lack of age appropriate plus size formal wear made it impossible for me to go prom dress shopping with my friends. Instead I'd head to a local seamstress to have my prom dress made.

We also asked stylist, Meaghan O'Connor to help us mix statement pieces like plus size tutu's with more everyday wear for a more fun and trendy prom look.

There are options for plus size girls of any size to look and feel fabulous on prom night. Hopefully our outfit ideas will help anyone who's still searching!

Browsable Women: The Three Hells of Online Dating

0
0
Let's talk about online dating and visual marketing. There are three forms of browsable women. (Substitute "men" if you like.)

1. Pornography

2. Mass media and cheesecake photos.

3. Online dating.

Each of these types of browsable partners has something to offer. Let's see if there is a relationship between them, or if we can understand something about ourselves through a bit of exploration.

2014-04-22-ScreenShot20140422at8.03.41AM.png

Only one of these pools of images has the potential for a real human connection. (With someone other than yourself, I mean.) One of these pools of images and videos has the potential for immediate sexual gratification, if at a lower level than the real human connection version. One of these pools offers but doesn't reveal the potential for both of the previous pools.

I turned on my online dating profile again yesterday and I was a bit underwhelmed by the opportunities for real human interaction. But the non-human (self) interaction gets a bit boring when you've recently sampled something delicious and alive. I glanced at some nudie sites but there was ZERO arousal. And then I started finding myself looking at TheChive. (Home of the almost nude, cheesecake shots and teases.) And while this didn't exactly fire me up, there was something more enticing about the tease.

Again, nothing physical about photos, but the covered breast often offers more than the plentiful and heaving breast.

Either way, it's odd, browsing for a pretty face online. It seems like there are several levels of this hell. 1. The topmost hell, cheesecake offers enticement without reward. 2. The second hell, gives plenty of sex at the expense of enthusiasm or potential. 3. The final hell is trying to browse actual women on a dating site and seeing how many are WTF?

Shopping for a house online is a similar experience. You browse by area then you look for the curb appeal. Without a nice preview photo you're not even going to take the 10 seconds to look at the portfolio of pictures. That's how it works.

And online dating, in my experience, is similar. And these days I've become even more selective in who I would consider. Yesterday I spent most of my time hitting the HIDE button on profiles that could not possibly have been accurately returned by my search results. I was left with 20 smiling faces. (This is from thousands, according to the site.) And from there I contacted 4 of them. I got a casual response from one of them.

So here we are, here I am, browsing women online and hoping to find a spark. A real live spark, not a fantasy one. And I'm travelling back and forth through the three levels of hell.

Always Love,

Christie Brinkley: 'I Was Successful Because I Was Not Skinny Like The Other Girls'

Want to know what happens when a beautiful mother-daughter pair end up on Into the Gloss?

Well, look no further than Christie Brinkley and Sailor Brinkley Cook's feature on the site, which follows them through their careers and beauty inventory. And as expected, the models brought their A-game, but not without some family love first -- their back and forth is priceless and reminds us of the conversations we have with our own mothers.

Early on in the piece, Sailor mentions that she wasn't interested in modeling at first because she had the idea that you had to be "stick skinny" to get into the industry. But thankfully, the 15-year-old beauty quickly realized that she could model with her own healthy body. Mom agreed, noting that it "is funny because when I became a model, the reason I was successful was because I was not skinny like the other girls, either. I could barely fit into the sample clothes because I was what they called back then 'athletic.'"

Interestingly, the supermodel goes on to say how her figure really helped her land gigs. "Like, if I had been successful with the crazy diets that I tried in the very beginning, I probably would have dieted myself out of a career," Brinkley said, going on to proudly compare her entry-level experience with Sailor's.

And you can't be on Into the Gloss without showcasing your wonderland of beauty products -- and the Brinkleys definitely delivered. Without giving too much away, let's just say there are drawers filled with the makeup and skincare of our dreams (hello, Laura Mercier!).

Meryl Streep: 'I Thought I Was Too Ugly To Be An Actress'

She may be regarded as one of the greatest actresses of our time, but Meryl Streep wasn't always keen on the idea of breaking into Hollywood.

The now 64-year-old, who holds the record for most Oscar nominations (male or female) in film history, recently accepted an honorary doctorate from Indiana University on April 16 and spoke about the "vain" profession she decided to follow.

"I think I was probably like every other girl who puts on a princess dress and expects everyone to pay full and total attention. And most of us grow out of that. I was always in plays, but I thought it was vain to be an actress," she explained, according to Us Weekly. "Plus, I thought I was too ugly to be an actress. Glasses weren't fabulous then."

Yes, this is the same Meryl Streep who went on to nab incredible roles in films like "The Deer Hunter," "Kramer vs. Kramer," "Sophie's Choice," "The Bridges of Madison County," "Doubt," "The Iron Lady" and most recently, "August: Osage County." (She won her three Academy Awards for "Kramer vs. Kramer," "Sophie's Choice" and "The Iron Lady.")

Streep also addressed individuality and told the audience to embrace their flaws, since those are what make each person unique.

"For young men, and women, what makes you different or weird, that's your strength," Streep explained during her speech. "Everyone tries to look a cookie-cutter kind of way and actually the people who look different are the ones who get picked up. I used to hate my nose. Now I don't. It's okay."

The Real Reason Nicki Minaj Has Gone For A More 'Natural' Look

0

Looks like it's no more pink beehive wigs and bubblegum-colored lipstick for Nicki Minaj -- and we're not complaining.

The rapper turned actress told MTV News why she's no longer sporting rainbow bright hair and makeup, and the reason might surprise you. During the interview she explains:

"I went so far to the other side that there's only one place to go from there. You can either continue doing costumes or you can just say, 'Hey guess what? This will shock them even more. Doing nothing will shock them even more.'"

Well, she definitely proved her point at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards when she stepped onto the red carpet with long, sleek locks, cat-eye liner and a black Alexander McQueen dress that just had us looking out for Nicki the entire night.

She goes on to explain that her natural look is also attributed to the music she's been doing for her album "The Pink Print," which will give us a more rap vibe compared to her hits like "Superbass" and "Starships." When asked if there would be remnants of the pop sounds she's adopted before, Minaj answers in the most Nicki Minaj way: "Hell no."

UK Retailer Primark Is Coming To America, And Our Bank Accounts Aren't Ready

We nearly woke up our neighbors this morning with all of our screaming and shouting (sorry!) when we read the news that Primark is coming to America.

The U.K. retailer, which is a favorite among style bloggers across the pond like Shirley B Eniang and Lily Melrose, will now give fast-fashion stores like H&M and Forever 21 a run for their money with their super low prices. We're talking $13 sneakers, $3 sunglasses and $20 swimsuits! That's basically our warm-weather wardrobe covered with change to spare on a mani-pedi.

The Guardian reports, Primark will open its first American store in Boston, Massachusetts (you lucky, lucky college kids) in 2015. The retailer will occupy 70,000 square feet of space on the site of a former Filene's department store, and there's already plans to expand throughout the northeast.

While Primark has managed to yield financial success in spite of not selling their cheap fashions online like its competition, its worldwide takeover with over 250 stores in countries, including Ireland, Spain, Germany, France and Portugal, proves that it is a retail force to be reckoned with.

Don't believe us? Check out these street style photos featuring Primark buys.

Robyn & Röyksopp Release Two New Songs From 'Do It Again' EP

It's time to pull up that video of Taran Killam doing the Robyn "SNL" dance, because the Swedish pop sensation just released new music. Robyn teamed up with Norwegian production duo Röyksopp on the new EP "Do It Again." It's not due out until May 26, but they released two songs ahead of the album on PopOnandOn.

Robyn and Röyksopp teased the collaboration last week with part of the first track, "Monument." They also announced a summer tour spanning Europe and North America. In the announcement, Röyksopp promised "lights 'n' smoke and tons of joy." As for Robyn: "I see pink lasers."

The two tracks feel like summer.

Selena Gomez Unfollows Everyone On Instagram

0
0
Something is going on with Selena Gomez. A day after the 21-year-old reportedly unfollowed Kendall and Kylie Jenner on Instagram, she took it a step further and unfollowed everyone. Yes, that includes her BFF Taylor Swift, and pals Ashley Benson and Vanessa Hudgens.

Normally we wouldn't be so concerned with the decision to purge her Instagram followers, but Gomez has made a number of big changes recently that signal something isn't quite right. Earlier this month, the former Disney star fired her managers -- her mother and stepfather -- without warning, according to TMZ. A few days later, Gomez also left CAA for WME, and signed with Brillstein Entertainment Partners for management -- a "crucial piece of the Disney alum's strategy, long in the works, to move on to more adult-oriented fare in film and music," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Gomez, like many of her peers, is yearning for more mature material, but there seems to be more going on than meets the eye. The "Come and Get It" singer's reported battle with Lupus was thought to be the reason she canceled the Asian and Australian legs of her Stars Dance tour back in January.

However, the following month Gomez's rep finally confirmed rumors that the singer had spent time in rehab, acknowledging that she had checked into The Meadows recovery center in Wickenburg, Ariz., for "emotional issues" and "partying," but denied she was there for substance abuse treatment. Gomez reportedly left treatment after just 14 days into a six-week program, despite objections from the center's staff. The pop star apparently had promised to return after she completed promotional duties, but later decided she has been able to address her issues during the abbreviated stay.

Recently there have been reports that Gomez still doesn't have a handle on her partying, and her allegedly continuing romance with Justin Bieber is enough to unhinge anyone. And now that she's unfollowed all her friends on Instagram, Gomez really doesn't seem to be acting like herself.

Since April 21, the singer has posted a number of cryptic images, including one photo that she captioned with lyrics from Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black." In the picture, she's the poster girl for post-adolescent angst with her glassy eyes surrounded by heavy black eyeliner and her thick hair covering half her face. Later, Gomez got even more cryptic when she posted a photo of a review of Mary J. Blige's 2007 album "Growing Pains" with the lyrics to the tune "Work in Progress."

The Secret To Never Wasting Money On A Beauty Product Again

We’ve all been there: You take your hard-earned paycheck to Sephora, excited to splurge on a fancy new moisturizer that promises to rejuvenate your skin or an expensive lipstick that looks gorgeous in the tube. Then, you get home, and — the horror! — it’s all wrong. Sometimes, your new purchase (and optimism) doesn’t even make it that far. You try it on as soon as you get in the car, and your heart falls as you check yourself out in the rearview mirror.

Sofia Vergara Is A Vision In White At The Tribeca Film Festival

It's pretty safe to say Sofia Vergara defines the term "white hot."

Vergara looked stunning in a racy white lace dress for the screening of "Chef" at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City on Tuesday night, April 22. The dress, from Zuhair Murad's Spring 2014 collection, features an illusion neckline and delicate embroidered detailing.

The 41-year-old plays Inez in the flick alongside an all-star cast including Jon Favreau, John Leguizamo, Bobby Cannavale, Scarlett Johansson and Dustin Hoffman.

Written and directed by Favreau, "Chef" tells the story of a man named Carl Casper (Favreau) who loses his job as the chef of a restaurant and starts working out of a food truck while rebuilding his family.

Kim Kardashian Stocks Up On Her Vogue Cover, Helps Keep Print Alive

0

Kim Kardashian is single-handedly keeping print alive with her narcissism.

The 33-year-old reality star and her sister Kendall Jenner, 18, were trailed by paparazzi and their own camera crew on Tuesday, April 22, as they stocked up on Kardashian's April 2014 Vogue cover issue, as well as a few other magazines. From the looks of X17Online's photos, Kardashian picked up at least five copies, while Jenner stocked up on just as many of the buzzworthy issue.

Page Six recently reported Kardashian's Vogue issue was slated to sell between 300,000 and 400,000 copies, which would mean it could even surpass sales of 2013 issues featuring Beyonce and Michelle Obama that sold about 355,000 and 300,000 copies, respectively. Those are impressive estimates, but we can't help but wonder just how many of those copies were purchased by the Kardashians.

Still, we understand that after finally living out her dream as a Vogue cover girl, Kardashian wants to savor the memory -- that means keeping one copy to frame, one to cut up and put in her scrapbook, and a couple dozen to whip out the next time anyone dares to doubt her.

Drake Lint-Rolling His Pants At The Raptors-Nets Game Is Not A Baller Move

"I'm goin' in and I'mma go hard" on you, Drake.

What in the world were you thinking when you pulled out a lint roller while sitting courtside during Game 2 between the Raptors and Nets on Tuesday night, and then proceeded to roll away at your black pants? From the looks of your braggadocious Instagram, you weren't thinking too hard.

I don't care if you had a fuzz ball the size of Canada on your bottoms, as the Raptors global brand ambassador, this is simply not a baller move. Thankfully, your home team didn't get distracted and was able to pull a win. But I bet Jay Z is just LOLing at this fashion faux pas, while he pens a few bars to help up your etiquette game.

Relive Drake's lint-rolling moment below and tell us how you really feel about it.

Hailey Baldwin Writes Racially Insensitive Tweet, Instantly Deletes It (UPDATE)

UPDATE: Hailey Baldwin said she "wasn't meaning to be racist."

EARLIER: Ohhh, Hailey Baldwin. What were you thinking?

Early this morning, Baldwin, a blonde, hazel-eyed Ford model who's buddy-buddy with the Jenners, tweeted this from her account:

racist tweet

The incredibly insensitive tweet, which declared that Baldwin was "leaving to Florida white but coming back to N.Y. a different race" was also accompanied by a turban emoji. The tweet was taken down no less than 15 minutes after it was originally tweeted. Perhaps it was the outrage of her Twitter followers, or a sudden burst of common sense that made the 17-year-old social-media queen delete it.

Baldwin's cousin Ireland also faced a major racist Twitter controversy back in September, with father Alec quickly coming to her defense. For a family that's no stranger to controversy, we certainly hope Hailey learns from this misstep.
